Default Goal Weight?

Im having a hard time choosing my goal weight. Its a toss between 135 and 140. I dunno what I want to be. For my height those are the healthy weights I'm just not sure. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Now or in the past

Hello girl , since chosing a goal weight is something very personal , we are at the same height , I star at 176 and now I am at 127 - 128 , my original goal was 125 , now i lowered to 115.

If you are doing WW whit meetings I think the lowest you can weigth is 132 , that is at the top of a BMI.

good luck in your decision.

Way back when I got to goal 20 years ago I set my goal at 125 which toward the mid to low end of my range. I just had this idea that it was the right weight for me. It was very, very hard for me to maintain it. At that time you couldn't change a goal weight after you got to lifetime so when I gained a few pounds I just quit and didn't go back. I felt like such a failure.

Looking back on it...I was still within my healthy weight range at the time. I put so much stress on myself with having a lower goal weight.

Now --- my WW goal weight is 146 which is the top of my range. I think that if I get to that I'll be at a healthy weight and if I want to lose more I can but I don't want to feel like I have to.

Now, once I get to 146 and stay there awhile if I find myself losing and easily maintaining a lower weight then I could choose a lower goal but I will worry about that then.

we're almost the same height... i say go for 135 lbs if you are choosing between those two. but honestly from my own experience, 125 lbs would be ideal for 5'1. i was still called "that chubby girl" at 135 lbs. but i was normal ("that girl who wears a headband") at 125 lbs.

You could always set it for 140 and once you get there re-evaluate where you are, how you feel, what size clothes you are in etc and then stay if you are comfortable or change it for a lower one

I would set it at the top of your range. Then once you get there, you can decide if you want to go further or if you want to stay. I definitely wanted to go further, and I still would like to go a little ways. But when it comes to maintaining, I think that how much I get to eat will influence where I end up just as much as what I look like in the mirror.

It is totally individual. Different people look different at the same weight in my experience. What is your body type? Apple, pear, curvy? I am a pear/curvy shape and at 140 I am tiny, looks good in a bathing suit tiny, but many people my weight might still look a little overweight at 140. I am 5'4" though so a bit taller than you.

I definitely have this issue..when I began I thought 135 would be marvelous, then I had upped it to 140, then down to 130, 125..honestly, I don't remember what I looked like and felt like at those different weights, so I'm not sure. SO, my plan is to get to 130ish and re-evaluate, see if I want/need to lose more.

I agree that your body shape has a lot to do with what weight might suit you best. I'm kind of an apple/hourglass shape (weird I know!). My chest and belly is where I gain (apple), but looking at my measurements 39-32-39 I'm more of an hourglass. My main concern isn't the number, I want a small stomach!

I'd say that I'm curvy. I have always had a large chest and hips.
I've got a little bit of a bum now too with the weight coming off lol.
I think I may go for 135. So that leaves me with 27 more pounds to lose.
The number is sort of a big thing for me but also I want my body to look good.
I want to lose the love handles and lose the belly fat..I'd LOVE a flat stomache and to be able to feel comfortable in a bathing suit again. Not necessarily a bikini just yet but my goal is to have a great body that i wont mind showing off by summer.
I'm half way there.

So another question regarding this topic.
The healthy weight guide says that for my height (5'1") that the minimum weight with a BMI of 20 is 109 and the max weight for my height with a BMI of 25 (which is actually considered an overweight BMI) is 132. So with that said, since the minimum is 109, does that mean that I could technically set my goal weight at sayyyy 125-130 pounds and still be at a healthy weight for my height?
I have yet to make my decision on a goal weight eventhough I probably should have considering that I met 10% two weeks ago but I'm undecided. I just need to know whether I can choose that minimum weight (125-130) and still be a healthy weight and would that be allowed by weight watchers?
Any opinions are welcome and appreciated. Just need the advice

I think it depends on your body frame as well, whether it's small..medium..large..
I found this calculator helpful. http://www.healthcentral.com/diet-ex...-3146-143.html
It can help you find an ideal weight for your frame. Where you feel comfortable and healthy should be factored in there as well IMO!

It can help you find an ideal weight for your frame. I think it's always where you feel comfortable and healthy!
it tells me between 112 and 123.
Now I had thought about aiming for 120 but I didnt know if it was too risky.
Think I'll go for that. I havent been 120 since I was like 13.
I'm also short so either way I'll always be a little curvy.

That sounds good to me! For me it says 120-132. For now I'm shooting for 130. I think once you get closer to that number you might think you're feeling and looking great at 125 or maybe at 120 you will want to lose another couple pounds, you never know. It's really hard to choose a goal weight. I guess we will just know when we get there. I haven't been around 130 since I was probably 17 (~7 years) so I don't remember what I looked like exactly. I just remember being quite small, probably a comfortable size 4..I'll be happy with that!
