We have 77 days until Valentines Day!
Use this thread however you need to keep your motivation going. Keep a daily food log, exercise log, weigh in, calorie counting... whatever. Anything goes. I would also encourage you to share your Valentines plans from the hair to the dessert! ;)
As for me... I am going to do the 30DS (all 3 levels) at least 5 days a week from now until Valentines. I think I will keep a daily weigh in so I am sure to check in every day.
My goal: to be about the size I was when I met my husband! I think I was about a size 10 and probably about 165 lbs. Right now I am a size 14 at 179 lbs. I WILL DO THIS!
Anybody with me?

Hi Kay! Love that name by the way. It's been my nickname since I was born. I'm going to join you here. For some reason, when I first started in October, I thought I would be at my goal by Valentine's Day. Wishful thinking on my part. haha. I think my goal for then is 115. Hopefully this thread will keep me motivated when school gets the better of me.
As for exercise, I'm going to stick to my four spin classes a week plus three weights classes, and some extra classes here and there.

Wohooo KatVee! Thanks for joining me. Don't feel discouraged if you aren't going to make your original goal. The smaller you are the harder it is to lose. You have made amazing progress so far!
I should mention that I run too. The 30 DS will be a new thing specifically for this challenge.

I'm so in! My goal is to workout 5x a week, drink my 8 glasses of water a day and my GW is going to be 155. That would be 14 lbs by Valentine's Day which I think is very doable! I'll keep up w/ my weight on here!

I'm in! Shooting for 1 lb/week, so... 11 lbs! That would put me at 149, which is where I was 2 years ago. :dizzy: I'd like to get past that number this time! :D

Welcome JKswimming! I am also hoping to pass a weight I was at 2 years ago. Actually 2 years ago I had lost 30 lbs and was down to 170 before I started gaining again. So this time I hope to pass that and be at my lowest weight in 10 years.

Valentines day goal:
8 plus glasses of water a day, 3 plus workout in a week and completely changing over my diet since I am finally on my own now as of the first of Dec! So with that I hope to lose a pound a week in total of 10 (starting next week) which will bring me down to 155 (which was where I was at the first time I had gained a bunch of weight back in college and lost it.)

Kay: I'm always impressed with runners. I can't run to save my life. I was actually planning on getting Jillian Michael's 6 week Six-Pack to work on for Valentine's Day to add on to everything else. It comes out tomorrow.
Kawaii: I have no man for Valentine's Day. We can be each other's date! haha.
I just got done with my weights and spinning classes. Done for today. Now it's dinner time. :carrot:

MiZTaCCen, i hear ya! yeah, i know there are plenty of fish in the sea... it just sucked big time cuz i wasn't even actually dumped, more like "forgotten" by my workaholic bf and his phone died and he cant be bothered to get in touch with me any other way. well **** him. i'm just so sad though cuz i really liked him and he did treat me like a princess :( (when he wasn't so busy....) ANYWAYS.... yeah. :/
Katvee, if you fly to Japan and meet me i will happily take you to a fancy restaurant and buy you chocolate! lol.
that said though, Valentine's Day in Japan is weird... it's not a "lovers' holiday", it's a day where girls buy/make chocolate for the boys they like, and guys pretty much do nothing. it's not romantic at all...

KatVee: well, to be fair, the nice japanese chocolate companies invented a "made up" holiday so that chicks could get theirs too.. it's on March 14 and it's called White Day. but you will only get a present from a boy at that time if you gave him something on v-day. actually, the day that comes the closest here to what we know as valentine's day is christmas eve. since most people are not christians here, dec.24 has kinda become "couples' day". :p

I'm always up for a new challenge, so I'll think of where I'd like to be..hrm...
I'd like to be at 62kg, which is 136.6 pounds. That's just less than 20 pounds. Eep. Quite a big goal! But it's 11 weeks away, so it is do-able..we'll see!
I've never actually done anything for Valentine's day (even though I've been with my boyfriend the last 2.5 years...but maybe we will next year. Who knows!!
So my starting weight and goal etc:
SW (30 November 2010): 70.2kg / 154.7 pounds.
GW (14 February 2011): 62kg / 136.6 pounds.

I'm in! Today's weight is 162, so hmm. I'd like to "no longer be overweight by then" so my GW is anything under 145. 17 pounds? I think it's doable!
P90x's weight training and cardio/kenpo vids are my exercise routines, as well as Slim in 6's ramp it up when my friend TOM comes to visit.

I'm in! I'd like to set workout and eating habit goals and see where my weight takes me.. hope that's cool. =)
So I will:
run 5x a week for at LEAST 20 minutes.
eat more veggies, no more soda or fast food.
EDIT to add: I realized I should note my current weight for tracking purposes. Today was 168.5.

I just really wanted a long term challenge. I want to prove to myself that I can do it. I love hearing about how other places celebrate different things, thanks for sharing!
KatVee- I still can't believe I can run! I was just like you saying I could never run. I always wanted to but I would get shin splints and bone spurs like crazy. I went to the dr and picked up some custom inserts and my pains went away so I decided to try running again. I did the Couch to 5K plan and completed my first 5k last month!
Stargzr- open ended goals are welcome too! :)
For those of you with no dates... You can still join us!! By then you may have a date and if not who is holding you back from hitting the town and showing off your new sexy self. :)
As for me I had a kind of weak start yesterday. It was a rest day for running and I didn't do the 30DS (got distracted with packing to move) so I have extra work in store for me today! :D

Feeling good about today. Completed my first day of 30DS. It has been awhile since I last did it and I forgot I have a weird Achilles thing going on during the static lunges. I modified it to a squat w/arm movements. I also added in some extra walks today.
Well I am not feeling sexy at the moment. I noticed a hair in my sports bra and when I pulled it out it was a long gray hair. :( Oh well, only more motivation to get my butt in gear. And yes I will be dying my hair for the first time soon. LOL

LOVE this!! My hubby's bday is also in Feb so this is perfect for me! I just had my 3rd baby (she's 5 weeks old) and the pregnancy weight is gone but I'd like to lose 15-20 more. I carry my weight in my trunk (breasts and tummy) and I really would like to have a 28 inch waist. My waist to hip ratio now puts me at risk for heart disease even though I'm not overweight. And yeah, I wanna look extra sexy for my man and for next summer!!
I'm thrilled to be starting WW tomorrow! I have to have guidance or I go crazy and eat way too much. WW keeps me on track and forces me to make good choices.
Can't wait to get to know you all more!
ETA: I'm also going to start the 30DS as soon as I get the okay from my Midwife at my 6 week checkup. I'll be starting with level 1 (since I haven't done anything but light exercise in a looong time). I probably will only be doing 30DS for now. With 3 kids I'm lucky to get 20 minutes in!! :D

Question: Are any of you ladies telling your husbands about your vixen challenge? I am thinking about leaving it a surprise. We almost never see each other since we work opposite schedules so I bet he wouldn't notice a whole lot until I throw on a dress or something sexy. My husband is one of those real observant men. ;)

BUT, it will be fun to maybe celebrate being a valentine vixen with a sexy dress or negligee!

shasha- My husband isn't handsy anymore at all since we literally only get to see each other for a 30 minute lunch every day. :( So I have a good chance of hiding it. In fact if I keep wearing my current clothes/ baggie clothes he really wont notice a difference. :)

That would be 2lbs a week loss giving me 22pounds off my frame. It is totally doable and I'm sure somedays I'll lose 1 pound and some weeks I'll lose 3, so I think it is workable!

Kay- IT will be awesome to be so close to goal, but it is getting there that is a huge battle. I have gotten down to the weight I am at a few times in the last couple of years, but never lower for the past 3 years so I have a feeling it might be a big battle! I'm so glad I'll have you girls to help keep me going!

I was planning on keeping it a secret from my hubby but mine IS observant and he also gets competitive about getting in shape. I figured it'd be better to tell him I'm doing this and that it's to look good for him (and for me of course). He wants to start getting into shape anyway so I'm hoping he'll help keep me motivated. He wants to start P90X together in January. Y I K E S!
I'm curious, what do you all do when you have a crazy craving for something that would put you totally OVER calories for the day/week/month (lol)?? I used to be a compulsive overeater and I fear I could slip back into it at any time... I need tools to help me overcome the urge to eat something just because it's there and it's yummy.

hotmama- I used to tell myself if I had a craving I had to drink a full glass of water. That would help me remember that I only wanted to put things in the body that were good for me. If that didn't work I might cave for a tiny piece. For example if I have dark chocolate I will break off a 1x1 cm piece and that is all I get. I keep things like carrots, sugar free popsicles and apples around for my munchy or sweets cravings. Then I do something to distract me from the fact that I didn't get what I wanted. Keeping my mind busy is important for me. I eat out of boredom.

Pint- I hear ya, I didn't do so great yesterday either.
I ended up working late and had friends over for dinner so I missed my workout. But that just means I have to come back strong... I will be doing the 30DS every day through Sunday. :D My abs still hurt from Tuesday.
Still weighing in at 179 so far.
Another part of my plan is more home cooked meals. I love to cook but ever since my husband has been working nights I have had a hard time bringing myself to cook much at all. Hi all! I had one of those mornings when I woke up and just *felt* smaller...hopped on the scale and it was the same as yesterday. I HATE when that happens! But, I guess staying the same is better than going up. Trying to maintain the glass is half-full mentality :)

Today wasn't terrible. It wasn't great either. I was at 1435 calories, but then had some popcorn (didn't keep track of how much, either) so I'm probably closer to 1500-1600.

jlnichols, i hovered around 153 for a month awhile back, and it was awful! you honestly just have to ride it out. reassess what you’re doing in your routine now and see if there’s slack anywhere. I had to admit to myself that I was cheating more than I should have been, which was no doubt keeping me stalled. but if you’re doing everything right, the weight will move. sometimes having a day off plan sorta ‘resets’ the body into weight loss mode. sorry hun, i know how frustrating this is for ya :hug:
sooo i ate a small piece of chocolate last night (that, funnily enough, my trainer gave to me), only 80 calories worth, and about 1 hr later, my mid section had puffed up a good 2-3 inches! gut AND love handles! it was amazing and horrifying at once... lesson learned.
i’m pretty dang sore today. hoping that the sore-ness will go away in the next few days and i’ll see a drop on the scale :carrot: fingers crossed!

I am hovering in the 238-239 range and it sucks, I really wanted to see 237 for my official weigh-in tomorrow, which would be a 2-lb. loss for the week, I never lose 2 lbs. in a week...I am a slow loser. Oh well, one pound lost is better than any pounds gained!

I am pretty excited though because I got on the scale mid-afternoon which I hardly do and it was 167..I don't ever see low numbers during the afternoon and it was right after a workout (so that probably had something to do with it!) **fingers crossed** that i'll see it in the morning!

I still haven't seen 147 since last week...I've been playing around in the low 148.'s. It's annoying, but I've only been to the gym 3 times this week due to an off after work schedule. I am hoping to get another workout in tomorrow so I'll atleast have 4 in for the week.
We have our family Christmas pictures tomorrow. Me, Hubby, Dog 1 and dog 2. Hope they turn out cute!

Sadly, I woke up this morning and the scale read 168.2 -- Although I have gone down in ounces ...I still am a bit confused on why my scale told me 167.8 halfway through the day and then went back up at 168.2 -- I stayed w/in my calorie range and even exercised one more time before bed..hmm confusing

JL, don’t try to analyze too hard. I know it sucks, believe me I was there too, but without knowing what your day-to-day is like, i can tell u that there are a million reasons the scale doesn’t move... water weight from that second workout being one of them! hang in there!

christmas goal weight was originally 171 and i am 173.6 today...so, i lowered my goal to 169. shouldn't have an issue getting there.
valentines goal weight is going to be 159 then. i need to work hard, work out and drink more water.

i'd love to get in on this too-
so my start weight would be 237 (this week) and i think i can lose 15lbs by valentine's day. unfortunately, my and the bf are on the fritz lately (break, sorta?) so on v-day, i want to look good for me. if things work out with me and the man, so be it.
in addition to the weightloss, i want to make sure to get in 10,000step/day 5 days a week, start 30DS once my tattoo has healed, and stick to that 3 days/week. whatever else i can handle, i'll add on :)
let's enjoy the ride!
EDIT: i think i'll push for more...i think i can probably lose 18lbs. i always find that consistent exercise make me slimmer faster...hmmm what a concept right? :)
i'm not always consistent with it, so hopefully will give me a push to so. so goal is now 18lbs. GW 219lbs

my tattoo is pretty fresh, less than a week old. its a sicilian symbol called la trinacria- its where my family is from, and i've wanted it for sooooo long, so i finally bit the bullet! i have some pics on my phone. i'm new to the smartphone thing, so i'll have to figure out how to get it on here...i'm assuming emailing it to myself?
i would love to commiserate- unfortunately, it probably won't be working out for a couple of weeks. i was advised not to have clothing rub vigorously against the tat. so for now, i have to make sure to get my 10,000 steps in. which level are you up to in 30DS?

fillupthesky- Pretty cool, I don't think I have ever seen that symbol before. Where did you get it (where on the body)? I hope it heals quickly! I am on level 1 of the 30DS right now. I have done it before but never made it into level 3. I think I am going to do about 25 days of each level until Vday.
I slacked a little this weekend. I only completed 3 of the 5 workouts 30DS workouts I had planned for last week and I didn't see the scale move enough so I really have to work harder this week.

I slacked a little with only 3 workouts last week. I must lose 2 more lbs by Christmas. That should be totally do-able if I keep my act together. I am taking a break from calorie counting, so if I end up high by next Monday it will be right back to writing everything down. Sometimes it just really stresses me out so it is nice to have a little break.

I’m up to 149.2 today from 147 the other day. It’s a water weight situation bc I’ve been a bad girl the past few days. I have a problem with discipline. And a problem with peer pressure, but let’s face it, if I had more discipline, peer pressure wouldn’t matter much. So i’m in the process of devising a plan to become more disciplined.

oy today really threw me for a loop...which i hope will not sabotage my weight loss thus far.
my boyfriend left me in seattle (after i moved with him here last year), things were not going so well and his job contract was over. we're this weird state of limbo. it took me six months to get a job here, and i actually love my job, great work, great people, etc.
today, i get told i'm laid off, along with 24 other employees due to budget cuts. after my bf left, i thought, ok i can get my eating back on track, work, and focus on me while we try to work things out. and then i get this news. i already ate a ton of crap tonight, and i just can't stop crying. i don't know what to do. my boyfriend left me with all the bills, i have no savings due to student loans and credit card debt. i'm in deep crap here. needed to vent ladies. hope i can still make this challenge happen, you all continue to inspire me:)
any advice/past experiences that threw you for a loop? how did it affect your weight loss efforts? i binge, so that's going to be a challenge...i've been through a lot in life, but nothing this bad. like i feel totally lost and hopeless.

fillupthesky I am an emotional eater, have been since I was about 16. That is what got me to the weight I am now. I seriously WISH i could go back to the old me and slap myself straight before I got myself into this mess. Please do NOT let the food control you. Food does NOT really make you feel better. Once you see the scale going up you will not feel better. Realize that you are a strong woman and you CAN get through this, without your boyfriend and without eating a ton of crap. :hug:

I am up to 292. I went to a chinese buffet last night. Chinese always makes me gain but I ate mostly veggies and filled up on salad before dinner so I only gained .2lb. Back on track today!

One of the few things that you have full control of in your life is your diet and your fitness. While you may not be able to control when you find a job or if you and your man will make it out of your rut take the opportunity to take control of the one controllable thing. We are here for you, you can do it. I can really relate. I moved across the country for my husband to go to school and we hit a rough patch. He left school, which he wasn’t happy about, and found a job 6 months later. Then got laid off and it took him a year and a half to find a part time job. We are still trying to recover but it hit us hard.

I drank double my normal amount of water yesterday and I am UP to 292.6. It's probably water weight so I am going to keep chugging on my water and hopefully I will see results soon!

I've been haunting the forums for a few weeks without posting, but this sounds like a great challenge. My goals for Valentine's Day (I'm starting after the New Year):
-No sugar
-Attend yoga class 3 times per week
-Start a C25K with my roommate
-Smaller portion sizes.
This is awesome because I haven't had specific goals in a long time. Sometimes goals are good because they give us motivation, but at other times, it can just distract us from the natural cues our bodies give us. Never set a goal that your body will consistently fight.

I'm in as well! There's a little extra motivation because my birthday is also in Feb :) With just over 9 weeks to go, 10lb will be my goal, to be 145. I've just committed to calorie counting and I exercise 5 days a week, mostly classes and circuits at the gym. The exercise part is really enjoyable for me, but food? Oh goodness... There's the tough part. I'm single, so it's a bit early for Valentine's Day plans, but I'm pretty sure I'll have a pretty dress on! (there are 2 in my closet that I would love to wear but currently do not fit :) ) Good luck everyone and great challenge idea!

i would like to lose 10 lbs before valentine's day.
i'll do the 30-day shred each day. i'm currently in a part of the world where i can't run outside and gyms are exorbitantly expensive, so i'm going to have to really watch what i eat. this will be hard, as i love to cook, bake and eat. i typically offset what i eat with lots of exercise, but since i don't have access to that here i've noticed i've gained a few pounds.

I hope I am not busting into your thread, but I just wanted to join for some encouragement. I see you are doing the 30 day shred OP. I am starting it tomorrow and could use some advice and support. How silly that I am nervous to start this program and so afraid I won't stick with it.

There are 7 weeks until Valentines day and I'd like to lose 10lbs. That puts me in the 10stone bracket and also very near the end of the 150's which would be amazing.
For me the 8th of February is more important than the 14th as it will be the 6 year anniversary for me and my bf :D We don't have anything planned as we'll both be working, but I'd love to look the best I possibly can for that momentous day ;)

Wow! Glad to hear it does work! I did my first day yesterday, only did level one, but my legs and arms are pretty sore. I like it. lol
I am looking to tone up so that is a plus. I need to start being more proactive about exercising, I want to get into a gym but I live kind of far away from the city. :dizzy:

Anyway the last time I jumped on the scale for a moment in the middle of moving it said that dreaded 180 that I was stuck at forever but I just jumped on the scale this morning and I feel totally bloated and fat so I was worried but it says 175. I can work with that!
I will be picking up the 30DS again. My husband got me a weight set since I have been doing it without weights but he got the 4 lb set. Boy am I going to feel it!

I did day two of the 30DS today and whew! My legs and arms are hurting. My stomach/abs aren't really feeling it though. I hope that starts to change as I do it more. That's the area I want to work most. :?:

tschaff04-Thanks. I usually feel it in my abs after the 30DS but now that I have weights I bet I wont even notice my abs because my arms will be hurting so much. lol
DaughteroftheKing- You go! keep at it and don't listen to that voice that says you can't reach that goal. You could surprise yourself, just don't give up on it!
hang in there misstraveller. The scale will move again. The holidays are a hard time to lose weight.
justaloozer- Don't feel bad! Progress is progress no matter how small. Keep at it. change up your workouts and your meals. Sometimes all it takes is mixing it up a bit.

KayNicole, I am getting some weights this weekend to up the workout intensity. Hmmm, I wonder if I am not doing the ab exercises right since I can't really feel it. After working out yesterday I did feel some soreness under my ribs almost in my sides. But not a terrible amount. It's mostly in my legs and arms. MOSTLY MY LEGS! lol

Today is my LAST day dealing with the move and the old place but now my new place is a mess. I actually found myself turning moving into a workout. I was running back for more boxes and walking a little slower when I was carrying the heavy boxes. I knew I was eating like crap and needed to burn the calories anyway. I still gained 4 lbs over the holidays but soon, very soon, I will be back on track. I am pretty bummed my entire vacation was taken up with moving. I crave normalcy so much right now I am sure it wont take me long to finish setting up the new place and try and get back to my routine. I am looking forward to getting out and running again but not until New Years day. What a great way to start the new year.
I saw Valentine's bears in the store today! Ahhh! Darn it why did I eat all those cookies!?

I am right there with you. I haven't seen anything below the 170's in many years. I can't wait to get into the 170's and know that this will be the last time I see them.

tschaff04- 170 is my number to beat too. I lost weight a few years ago and 170 was the lowest I saw on the scale. Before that I think the last time I was 170 was college. I wish I knew what I weighed back at healthiest point in college. For awhile there I was going to the gym every day and was taking yoga. But if I look at it size wise I have not been below a 10 since HS.
I am going to change my reward on my 170 goal since my husband works every evening. I decided I want to try fire spinning and my reward will be a poi beginners set. I am so excited. I really want to order it NOW but I need a new motivator. Oooooo maybe for valentine's next year I can do a belly dance fire routine for my husband! LOL so fun. Happy New Years everyone.

Congrats to those of you who made it through the holidays with a minimal gain or even a loss!! I on the other hand did not do so great but whatever, more motivation to move forward.
I am having a hard time scale wise for the past week or so. I am all over the place. I have been bouncing all around between 171 & 180 all week. Hopefully I settle out soon so I actually know what I am working with. lol not that it matters since I have to work hard no matter what the scale says.

The scale seems to be settling out at 175 again. So I am going to update my ticker now. Last night was a total veg night for me. I got home 2 hours later than usual and basically ate dinner, watched a show, did some laundry thought about working out and went to bed. :( Today is a new day though, I get out of work EARLY today so I hope to get a lot more done... and workout! I want to get an early morning bike ride in to get some pictures. My new drive into work is beautiful and I want to capture it BUT I have to find my cameras and put air in my tires. I think one of them might even have a leak so I am sure it wont happen any time soon.
I head to Disney World next Wednesday! It came up really fast with the holidays and moving distracting me. My parents live in Orlando in the winters. Can't wait to visit. :D My Dad is a chef though so I will have to warn him that I only want healthy meals!

I can't remember what I put for my V-day goal, so I'll make a new one right now. To be down to 155 so thats 9 pounds to loose. I'm not too sure which is water weight and which is real. I've gotten back into my workout routine and am starting with the gym tomorrow. The last few months I've been drastically slacking so it's time I changed up something.

hey everyone- happy new year!
i've been a little MIA...i joined the challenge many moons ago, but have been hiding for a little while. been having a rough time personally.
my boyfriend basically stranded me in seattle in november and a month later i was laid off of my job (and i really loved my job!). no pity party here...lol
so, i had my time to cry, pout, and shut myself out of society, but i have to pick up the pieces right? so, while the rest of my life is a mess, i will harness my strength and take control over the few things i have control over- my food choices and exercising. and of course, sending out a ton of resumes :)
glad to see all of you doing well!!! here's to valentine's day and meeting our goals!
