Hey all! Posting this one week before the new month starts so everyone can get an idea, get prepared, allow more people to join us, etc.,etc. :).

Hey, Autumn Beauties! Great job last month! Welcome to the fresh new thread for the fresh new month of December (12-1 thru 12-31). ANYONE is welcome to join us at any time. Let’s continue on in our weight loss journey. We can do it!

The December Challenge:
1. Set a weight loss goal for the month of December.
2. Set a goal of how many days you’d like to work-out in December.

Bonuses (Should you choose to accept them ;)):
3. Water is important. Even those of us who love water find ourselves not always drinking enough each day. We’re supposed to drink eight 8 oz. glasses of water a day, right? So, I challenge you to drink exactly that for at least 15 days this month. I drink 16 oz. water bottles so I would only need to drink 4 a day. That’s easy! We can do it!

4. Every time you work-out, you must end your work-out with as many push-ups as you can do. Do this for at least 15 days. ANY kind of push-ups will do: regular, girlie or even ones where your lower half is totally lying flat, legs out behind you and you’re just pushing up on your arms. Do what works for you and just do as many push-ups as you can. Even if it's one or two…who cares? Great job! Go ahead and track your push-ups along side your work out days like this:

“12/1/2010 Walk At Home (3 Miles) +15 push-ups”

***Any other goals you have that like to track here for the month, please do! Anything goes!***

So, I believe that is everything. Let’s get started! We can do it, Autumn Beauties! :carrot::D:cool:

Monique's Goals:

1. I hope to lose 6 pounds (I'll put an emotion icon for each pound lost this month):

2. I will work-out at least 20 days (I'll put an emotion icon for each day I worked out this month)::exercise::exercise::exercise::exercise:
:exercise::exercise::exercise::exercise::exercise: :exercise::exercise::exercise::exercise::exercise: :exercise::exercise:

3. I will make sure I drink 8 glasses of water for at least 15 days (I'll put an emotion icon for each day I drank enough water this month)::bubbles::bubbles::bubbles::bubbles:
:bubbles::bubbles::bubbles::bubbles::bubbles:
:bubbles::bubbles::bubbles::bubbles::bubbles:

4. I will do as many push ups as I can for at least 15 days along side my work-outs (I'll put an emotion icon for each day I do push-ups this month)::jig:(10):jig:(10):jig:(10):jig:(10):jig:(1 0):jig:(10):jig:(10):jig:(10):jig:(10):jig:(10)

Welcome everyone! You're welcome, I was happy to start this! Yes, we will officially start December 1st but if you wanna start even sooner then by all means, go right ahead!. Welcome to the NEW Autumn Beauties....so glad you could join us :) I can't WAIT to get started.

Also, I forgot to mention for those who don't know: for fun, I've created a group ticker for all of us so we can lose large amounts of weight as a team :).

Here's the link to our ticker: http://www.tickerfactory.com/counter/wGpeQf8/

Go there when ever you like to add the amount of pounds you've lost.

1. Click "Edit/Update Data & Style

2. Type in password/pin which is: arefatfree (LOL)

3. Where it says, "Your current cumulative value", add how many pounds you've lost (every time you lose more, go back and do it again) by clicking the "Add" with the plus sign on the side of the box you type in which will make the number in the box get bigger...you'll see what I mean when you see it. LOL :)

4. Keep clicking "next" until you reach the last page with the html so you can add it to your siggy if you wish!

Here's what it looks like:

http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/wGpeQf8/counter.png
(http://www.TickerFactory.com/counter/wGpeQf8/)

You all can change the look of the ticker, our goal, whatever you wish at any time. Have fun! :) Let's do this, Autumn Beauties!

Welcome, rdytolose! So glad you've decided to join the Autumn Beauties for the month of December (and hopefully beyond ;)) Actually, one of our group members has been doing Insanity for the whole month of November so maybe she'll come in here at some point and answer that for you :). Geez, I can only hope I'm fit enough to even TRY that program. It looks scary hard. LOL...but I'm sure the more you do it, like any program, the easier it gets :).

Thanks Monique! This website is exactly what i needed. I have been trying to lose weight for the last few years, only to regain again. Im getting married in August of next year so im ready to shed these unwanted pounds. This is a great idea! Im so excited to start dec 1st. I started the Insanity today well the fit test, and ohmygosh, it was hard! I hope i can keep the motivation to finish it.

Question for anyone how do i add a ticker to my signature? Thank you :)

TooManyDimples
11-29-2010, 08:19 PM
Welcome rdytolose. The site has issues with spam so you can't use the signature section until you've been a member for at least 20 days, and you also have to have a certain number of posts by then. You can click on the user cp tab that's over the forums at the top and when you get to 20 days the signature part will show up.

LOL.....either way, that's not gonna slow me down! I'm ready for the new month! Let's do it, Autumn Beauties! We start the day after tomarrow!

I am soooo ready to get back on track again this month. Boy, did that open my eyes, losing ten pounds in November and then gaining six back during Thanksgiving. LOL. Never again!....or at least I hope never again. LOL. I will weigh in and post my stats tomarrow morning. I think I will torture myself by leaving my ticker at 215 so that I KNOW I need to get back there again....plus lose six more pounds if I can. That would be fantastic! :) :carrot:

Everyone check in tomarrow! Let's go Autumn Beauties! Let's get healthy and sexy! :)

Good Morning Ladies! Ok, so it's the 1st, which meant it was time to get back on the scale. The last time I weighed was the 19th, and then I had that terrible Thanksgiving week so I decided to stay off the scale until today.

I let out a deep breath and got on the scale and was thinking, "Please still under 240, Please still under 240..." And then the number popped up and I was completely shocked. I weighed again just to make sure it wasn't a mistake. 236.2! :encore: I can't believe it! Maybe I didn't do as bad over Thanksgiving as I thought. :) And this is the lowest I've gotten in a long time. Losing weight before I've gotten down to around 240 - 239, and then I've always gone back up. Never again! So happy this morning.

Before Thanksgiving I was hoping to reach my first mini goal of 225 by New Years day. I was thinking it wasn't going to be possible now, but that is so do-able if I work hard this month! :yay:

I hope everyone else is having a wonderful morning and is excited as me to start this new month.

Monique
12-01-2010, 10:31 AM
Great job, Kim! :carrot: Turns out I didn't do as bad as I thought I did as well. I'm at 217 this morning. It was just the water weight from my period that just left that had me thinking I gained six pounds. :carrot: So glad about that because that means I don't have as much to lose back again. LOL.

Let's do this, Autumn Beauties! I will edit my goal post with my stats during my break at work today....gotta get to work now. LOL. Have a great day, ladies!

Hey everyone! I am totally excited and determined to get back on track with my weight loss. December is MY month to regain control!

Starting weight: 167

Eve, congrats to you for dropping 100 pounds! Good for you for getting back on track. So glad you can join us :-). Great job, everyone. I've been doing well with the water drinking today so far. im a a HORRILBE picky eater. I absolutely hate Vegetables. SO im trying my hardest to suck it up and eat em but i just cant.. Ill eat corn but i dont think taht counts to well lol. I hate basically anything spicy, i like plain foods, chicken pastas bread. Probably why I am in the boat im in.. What kind of strange picky eating do you do?

Monique
12-01-2010, 09:53 PM
Great start, rdytolose! So, each day you can go back and click "edit" on the bottom right and add in your daily workouts or whatever it is you're tracking. For example:

My workouts for the week (I plan to do three workouts):
1. 12-1-10 Hip Hop Abs
2.
3.

Then tomorrow, I would click the "edit" button and type in what I need to type in for number 2 :) That's just to give you an idea of how we do it. Pretty much anything goes though. However you wanna do it :).

As for the weigh-in's...everyone sort of does their own thing. Some plan ahead and have days set for when they'll weigh in and they'll come post it here. For me, I prefer to have my starting stats and then at the end of the month post them again (which I didn't post my ending stats in the last thread so boo me. LOL) and in between, as I lose a pound here or there, I just come in here and say, "OMG, I lost two pounds!" LOL. So, it's whatever you want to do. Feel free to come in here and yell out, "EVERYONE WEIGH IN!" whenever you like. LOL.... I mean really, that's what this is all about....all of us having fun with it and keeping each other motivated.

Anyway, yes, I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to veggies. I wish I loved them more but I don't :(. The ones I DO love have to be covered in cheese or butter so it's like I can't win. LOL. Anyway, as far as my diet and eating habits go: I love pastas, bread, anything cheesy or salty...I'm not much of a meat eater but I do like it. I'm sort of a lazy meat eater I guess. You could feed me an amazing steak and if I were to go out to a resturaunt, I would never order one or buy them myself and cook them. I'm all about hamburgers and hotdogs and ham and bacon and certain fish. Every piece of meat that touches my mouth has to have good flavor or I'm not interested. I like chicken too but again...it MUST have that flavor. The only kind of turkey I like must be sliced and in a sandwich. Thanksgiving turkey? Forget it (dry and boring...never liked it) As far as sweets go, I don't eat them often actually but chocolate is my number one favorite.

Something I need to work on actually is eating MORE throughout the day. Probably since I was a teenager, I've had that nasty habit of skipping meals and that certainly isn't gonna help me lose weight if I keep that up. So combine that issue with me being picky and the foods I LOVE just so happen to be the bad ones. LOL....yeah, I need some work. LOL.

But, no matter what kinds of foods we like or dislike...we can make it work. Probably the only veggie I can think of that I can eat without putting cheese or dressing on it is soy beans (the ones they have at sushi places). Those things are amazing. LOL. Even though I would prefer my broccoli with cheese...I guess I can start eating it without sometimes. It couldn't hurt.

Anyway, I guess I'll stop here. I need to go do my workout :)

1. Down one pound since yesterday AM. Water weight. 1/10
2. I was active, but no formal workout so I can't count yesterday 0/20
3. I was short on my water too. 0/20

Man, it was a rough start to the month. I am sick and so are my too kids so I'm just trying to make it through the day. I have no appetite, but that never stopped me from eating before. I'm staying hydrated but not drinking water. Drinking tea for my throat. Did manage to stay in my calorie range so have one binge free day under my belt.

I get it more now about how to post, I was thinking this is going to be a LONG thread. lol I can just edit my other one, it makes more sense. Thank you for the information i had no idea. We have very similar eating issues Monique LOL. I have been one to always skip meals through out the day and then eat everything in site at night, I mean everything, =/

I wish i could eat any veggie at all besides corn. I just cant do it, i literally gag when it comes close to eating them. I am doing better though because i can actually prepare them for my family now. My fiance loves most Veggies, Also my 3 year old daughter. My 5 year old on the other hand wont hardly eat them. I was even able to touch them with out getting sick. Crazy right? i think i have a lot of food issues though.

We are all doing great! Just gotta keep going!

My motivation: Buying new clothes! =) Whats yours?

Hey Autumn Beauties. Good job, ladies. I lost one of the two pounds I gained during Thanksgiving. I just need to lose one more and THEN I will start counting pounds lost after that as my pounds lost for this month. So, that means I need to drop seven more pounds to reach my goal. I can do it. To help me out, I did a little grocery shopping for myself. I currently just rent a single room (will soon be getting an apartment, thank God) and have been for about three years. I have always pretty much stayed in my room....eating anything that can be stored in my little fridge or eating out. So, I figured since I'm trying to lose weight and save money, I bought food so I can eat IN and make sure I eat more during the day. Didn't buy diet foods exactly....but each thing I got is 170 per serving or less so that's good. I just bought cereal, cinnamon apple sauce for a snacks, fruits snacks for another snack option and canned soups for lunch and dinner and these delicious California Mandarins for another snack option. They're all things I like so it's a start and if I make sure I eat my three meals a day with two snacks then I can't go wrong. I won't need to go off and buy fast food just because I don't have any food in the house. I should make that my goal this month too: KEEP FOOD IN THE HOUSE ALWAYS. LOL.

Ok, Autumn Beauties...until next time!

Great job, Slim CB :)

Hey Autumn Beauties! My internet is finally working this morning :). Yay. LOL.

To respond to rdytolose about my inspiration or motivation for this? For me, I'd have to say that it's the Disney Wonder Cruise (it's coming to the west coast finally in 2011) I'm going on in March. I'm taking my younger sisters with me....they're 19 and 15 and it's our first cruise ever and first REAL vacation in a long time so we deserve it :). I just want to look GOOD for once. I want to be able to sport my sleeveless tops and bathing suits like everyone else and not feel so insecure about the way I look. I'm sick of of see rolls instead of smooth lines when I look in the mirror and looking awful in my clothes. I'm done with it. I deserve to feel as beautiful on the outside as I do on the inside and I'm gonna get there if it's the last thing I do :). I think once I improve myself inside and out, all other area's of my life will improve as well and that is very important :)

Good morning Autumn Beauties!

Sorry I've been away for a week or so. I REALLY fell off the wagon hard at the end of last week and all through this week. I'm scared to look at the scale tomorrow for my official weigh in. I've gorged on fast food, kettle corn, chocolate, coffee (and dealt with one migraine due to the caffeine), and didn't take my Healthy Trim all week long. I feel like crap. I haven't worked out one bit in nearly two weeks. It's time to get myself back in control!

So, this morning I made a post on my blog about starting over, took my Healthy Trim, and planned out my menu for today. I coordinated my foods with the food pyramid to see if I was possible to get in the recommended daily servings of everything that the food pyramid suggests and not overeat. Amazingly, it is! That surprised me. Now, to get in some exercise today! My daughter's down for her nap and I am eating vegetarian chili for lunch. I've had 4 glasses of water so far today.

Baby steps. :)

My motivation is really just to get healthy and finally feel comfortable in my own skin. Mini motivation: My husband and I will be celebrating our 5th anniversary this coming June. We *might* be getting to take a short vaca then alone. We're looking at either possibly going on a cruise or just getting a beach house somewhere in Florida. I wont be to my goal weight by then, but it would definitely be nice to be a lot smaller if we're able to do that.. We didn't get a Honeymoon so it would kinda be making up for that too. :)

Glad to see you Courtney, I definitely noticed your absence. It's great to hear your ready to get back on plan. I know it can be hard sometimes, but you got this! Chin up. ;)

Hello Autumn Beauties!

:( Well I'm back after a 3 day binge. UGH I really have a problem. I'm considering going to an OA meeting sometime to get some help.

Anyway, Starting over again today is my day 1. Trying not to beat myself up. Todays workout was Turbo Fire 55 EZ. Staying hydrated, and going to avoid the evening binge! I can do this!

Everyone else is doing a fantastic job! Lets keep it up! If I stay on plan for a full 7 days, my weigh in will be next Saturday morning.

I can do this! My body is not a trashcan! Only healthy, nourishing foods! :jig::cheer2::hun:

I'm telling ya, it's not easy staying on track. Yeah, the fruit snacks I bought? Gushers? I'm sure you've all heard of those. I allowed myself to eat the entire box last night! LOL! So, obviously, I can't handle having those around so I won't be buying those again. LOL. I've always had a fruit snack weakness...I should have known. LOL. I DID drink enough water at least and did my workout and worked some of those Gusher calories off. LOL.

Just remember one thing, girls: if you have a bad day as far as your eating habits go, the LEAST you can do is get a workout in. Even if it's just five minutes. Couldn't hurt, right? :)

Eve, I like that, "My body is not a trash can..." line. LOL. Definitely a good one for keeping you motivated and doing what's right for your body :).

Welcome back, Courtney :)

Keep up the good work, everyone!

Good morning to my fellow Autumn Beauties!

Today was my weigh in. I admit I was scared to face the scale, especially after how off plan I was all week long. But, I weighed 239.8, so it was a loss of 0.6 pounds. Any loss is a loss and I am once again out of the 240's!

I did get in my 64 oz. of water yesterday. Not to start getting in some of that working out. I just can't get myself motivated to go work out and I REALLY need to!

Great job Courtney and Justaloozer. =)

Monique, I completely get you on that. I used to buy the 100 calorie snacks, but I'd just end up eating them all. Had to stop doing that.

I had a TOM induced mini meltdown last night. I had this incredibly back and forth battle with myself about just giving into my stupid craving to have some chinese takeout. I dragged my husband into it, we ended up fighting, I ended up crying. It was stupid. I didn't end up getting the chinese food, but I did give in and make some chocolate cresants and ate 4 of them, so that was definitely not staying on plan. =P I feel better today thank God. I'm going to have to work on getting my crazy hormones under control in the future for sure. So much extra stress I don't need.

So the last two days i have down horrible! Went on a binge Friday night. Ice cream, cookie dough and reeses. My sister was having a horrible night and showed up at my door with tons of junk food. Atleast i didnt eat as much as i normally would of. I did stop before i was full, but just the fact i made it not even a week without binging really upsets me. iknow i can do this, but whats stoping me? Ahhhhh so frusturating.
Way to go on everyone who is losing! The rest of us... We can do this, we cant give up.

I forgot to mention my other MAJOR motivator! Im getting married in August of next year, and i want to be able to look at the pictures of my self with out deleting or throwing them all away. (or crying)

Going on a vaca/cruise sounds like a great motivator. I cant wait till the day im not embaressed to go outside in a bathing suit or short sleeve shirt for that matter.
toomanydimples: thats sounds like a very famillar story with me and my fiance. I do that often with Mcdonalds French fries. We fight, I cry, I eat.

Eve i also like that quote. I may have to steal it from you. =)

I am starting today, right now with getting back on track. NO more binging. I can do this. We can all do this!

Good idea justaloozer! I hope it works for you.

Up to 292 (gained .2lb)

Last night we went to a chinese buffet for dinner. Chinese ALWAYS makes me gain at least 2lbs of water weight. Well last night I started dinner with a HUGE plate of salad. I then had a little bit of general tso's chicken and filled up 1/2 my plate with veggies.
Usually when I go to this buffet I have at least 2 plates of food. I am so happy that I only had 1 and it was filled with mostly veggies!
I am happily accepting my .2lb weight gain and I am completely on track today. I even drank a glass of water before breakfast, something I never do!

-Kim you CAN do this!Believe in yourself!!
-Courtney YAY for the gym!
-Molldoll that quote is SO true!
- Eve awesome job on the workout!
- Monique hope you enjoyed the night off with no exercise!
-Slim you are doing great!

Slim I have a question for you. We are almost the same height (I am 5ft 8.5in). I would love to get down to 180, possibly 175. But I have a large frame and when I get too low I look weird. What made you choose 164 as your goal? Should I aim for 165 instead of 180? I know I can always reevaluate once I get to 180, just wondering what your thoughts were. :)

Happy Wednesday, ladies!

Justaloozer- GREAT job on the chinese food! That is my weakness. :p

Not sure if I said this before or not, but my weigh in days are going to be Saturday mornings.

Today is a rest day for me. (BOOOO!) ;);) At the end of my workout yesterday, I was grumpy and tired as heck, so I figured it was time. I am wicked sore today so I know I am doing my body good by taking a day to relax but I always get BORED or feel like I am being lazy. ugh! :dizzy: I got my results and recovery formula today in the mail and I am super excited to try it out tomorrow! (another 3 hour workout day so I will need it!)

On a side note: This fri, sat, and sun are going to be super busy for me. I signed up to be a Group Centergy (yoga/pilates class) instructor at my local gym and the training is this weekend. Then I have 3 months to get experience teaching and what not and I have to send in a dvd of me teaching a class to get certified! SUPER nervous and excited at the same time! So this weekend, I will most likely just stop in on sat to report my weight.

Have a good day everyone! Stay beautiful! ;):carrot:

Hi justaloozer

I picked 164 as it was the highest number in the normal BMI range...yeah I want to be normal for once. I am almost there and I love how I look now but I think once I get to 164 I am going to aim for 158lbs (just to be able to say I have lost 40lbs). Also I would like to have a maintenance range when I get there and I think keeping it within normal BMI is a good idea. If I leave my goal at 164, then my maintenance range would have to be 164 - 169. Bringing my weight down to at least 160lbs can give me a maintenance range of a least 4lbs which would still put me in the normal category.

IMHO, you should assess your weight loss gradually. When you get to 185, look at your body and assess if you would want to stop at 180 or go a bit lower. As this forum always reminds me, we dont wear our weight tatooed on our foreheads, its how our clothes fit and how we feel about our bodies that is important.

I'm trying very hard to get back on track today. Pretty much the only food left in the house is healthy so that helps. I have the whole day planned out meal and snack wise so I just have to choose to stick with it. I don't know what my deal is, but hopefully if I can dig in and stay on track for a few days I'll get back my motivation.

I'm going to lay off exercise for the next few days and just concentrate on getting my eating back on track.

Glad to hear others are doing well, good job on the control at the buffet Justaloozer.

You can do it Kim! :carrot:

Hi there Autumn Beauties! :)

I took a day of vacation from work today and spent two hours at the gym. I did my weight resistance training, 60 minutes of cardio on the elliptical, and finished off with a 20 minute hydro massage! I feel great! I am really hoping that getting back in the gym will get the weight to start going away again. Glad to see that everyone's been making some progress! GO US!!!!

Hey, ladies. Sorry I'm just checking in and leaving without a chat, but I realize I haven't been posting my accountability stuff for the last couple of days. I've been trying to stay on plan, but I keep trying to make excuses to go off. I'm hanging in there, though. Both of my kids have had back to back colds and then they give it to me. I have out of town company coming and she only gave me a day and a half notice that she was coming and told me she was staying instead of asking. Blah. I have been moving around a lot, cleaning and getting prepared. I kept telling myself today "I'm just so tired." and thinking about giving into the couch and comfort food, but I held it together! Yay. I even started having back and neck issues, but instead of being sedentary, I went to the gym and did a modified workout. You know, it actually helped to move. It loosened things right up!

1. weight down another .4 pounds to 178.6 from 180
2. water did not happen 3 of 6 cups.
3. worked out 40 minutes interval training
4. stayed within my calorie budget

Hey Autumn Beauties :). I had a nice exercise free day yesterday ;). Almost took another day off today but I decided last minute I'd get a workout in...especially since I'm not seeing much progress on the scale :tantrum:. LOL. Oh well....it'll happen when it happens.

Get well, ebb and keep up the great work :).

Looks like a few of us are in the same boat as far as staying on track. Since my mom got out of the hospital, she's been spoiling me by having me over for dinner all the time, sweets, soda, hot chocolate....ahhhh! It's hard. LOL. But, at the end of the day, no matter how many bad things I put in my mouth...I feel less guilty if I've worked out :)

Keep up the good work, Autumn Beauties! :)

Weigh in on Satuday morning not so good. I MAINTAINED. :?: SERIOUSLY?! How does one go from pigging out almost every day and lounging around, to working out 2+ hours a day and eating healthy, enough calories for their activity level and drinking water like crazy and MAINTAIN?! GAH! That frustrates the crap out of me! And since I had to get up at 530 this morning after only 5 hours of sleep and not much more than that the next day I am really feeling down and everything seems harder and evil right now. :(:(

On top of that, my MIL is taking me to her company x mas party with free drinks and most likely YUMMY food. This is the first time in 7 days that I've been tempted to just EAT WHAT THE **** I WANT, and I'm really trying to finally be able to tell that little 3 yr old inside me "No."

I get on that scale and I maintain after a week of great workouts and healthy food and I get really discouraged. But CONSISTENCY is the key! I know this, but I still go buy crappy food and put it in my body and binge after seeing the same number. I'm being insane right now....That is the definition of insanity right there. Hey, ladies! It sounds like a lot of us have hit some frustration and set backs.
Hang in there. If you keep going at it, your efforts will pay off. Even if we don't get the results we were hoping for by the end of the month, it's not wasted effort and lost time. You learn from the experience, if you maintain- at least you didn't gain, and if you lose "only" a couple pounds- then you have a couple less to lose.

I am doing okay. The kids and I have been sick sick sick. I haven't been working out, but I have been active. I walk my son to and from school and I've been trying to get the further parking spot etc. My daughter had decided she doesn't like the play room at the gym and she's always cried in the stroller so I'm gearing up for in the house workouts. I'm not going to use this as an excuse not to work out.

I have been lax on the water too, but I have been vigilant with my calories. I've even avoided many of the holiday calorie traps that I get caught in every year. Two parties down, two more to go.

Weighed in today and am at 173.6 I'm sure some weight will come back once I up my water intake again.

Hanging in there, I hope you ladies are, too.

Monique
12-15-2010, 08:52 PM
Hey, Autumn Beauties. Yeah, you guys are right. We gotta keep going no matter what. A loy of us, including me, get very easily discouraged but no matter what....we can't give up. I haven't worked out in about week or so until today and I was worried that I wouldn't get my 20 days in for this month but I actually still can make it! I'm also still gonna make my water drinking goal, push-ups and as for getting down to my goal weight...that may not happen considering I'm two pounds over my lowest weight last month but that is fine by me.

Anyway, I was thinking: since some of us struggle with eating the right things, maybe we can even consider going on the same diets together. You know? ones like Special K or Slim Fast? Or any other diet that is simple that we can plan out together? Clearly, most of our issues are with food because we all do an amazing job with working out. I think for me personally, I would probably stay more on track if I wasn't in it alone. It's just a thought and if any of you are interested, lets do it and set a start date.

Monique

Monique
12-15-2010, 11:16 PM
Yeah, I think it would be great. I've done Slim Fast before....but never long enough to see results because I didn't take it seriously. I pretty much just stick with chocolate....the shakes in general aren't the greatest but I can do chocolate for sure. But yeah, I figure it's something you can't go wrong with so long as you take your diet seriously. Replace at least two meals a day with the shakes and eat only healthy snacks in between.

If anyone else has any ideas, advice, etc...feel free to speak up.

Hey ladies. Haven't checked in lately. We were having computer issues and finally got it all cleared up last night.

Seems like a lot of us are having a rough time lately. I really think the time of year just makes it unavoidable. If there is anytime of the year were you crave yummy and fattening things, this is it. I was talking to my husband about it all and he suggested I not take it so seriously for the next few weeks. All I'm doing is stressing about food instead of just enjoying the parties and time with friends and family. I'm kind of taking his advice. I think my goal over the next few weeks is just to maintain, and when the new year starts I can make a serious new start.

He also said I care way too much about what the scale says so he took it away. He hid the damn thing and he said I'm not getting it back until the first. I'm annoyed because I want to do my weekly weighin this morning, but I also feel like some of the pressure is gone so that's nice.

Monique
12-17-2010, 09:24 PM
Yeah, you are so right about it being unavoidable. There's not many days left of the month so enjoy it, ladies. Just drink your water and get in a work out here and there. When the new year starts...it's on like Donkey Kong. LOL

I will most likely do Slim Fast when we start the new year. I am going to be down at least 20 pounds by March if it's the last thing I do. LOL.

If using SlimFast or doing the diet frozen meals works for people I think that's great. I can say they've never really worked for me. I really think that the calorie content, along with the sodium and carbs is just too high for what you get. I never feel full when I eat that kind of stuff. Eating whole food choices works so much better for me when I'm on plan.

I just thought I'd give you an alternative idea Monique. You could get some Whey Protein and frozen fruit and make your own smoothies instead of doing Slim Fast. It would be a healthier, cheaper and more filling option. And I think it taste better too. =)

I buy Designer Whey in chocolate. It has 18 grams of protein in one scoop. I use 5oz frozen strawberries, a scoop of protein, and then I use an individual flavor pack, like crystal light, usually raspberry to sweeten it up. I put it all in my smoothie blender and fill it up with water to about an inch above the strawberries. It's at least double a slimfast, each smoothie cost less then a slimfast would, and it's much tastier in my opinion. Plus it isn't all processed like a slimfast is, the protein is full of healthy vitamins. And it's only 150 calories, where I believe a slimfast is 220 or so.

You could give it a try with whatever fruit you like. Just thought I'd put that out there for you. =)

Thanks, Monique.

And Kim, that is a great idea! I too like to stick to more whole foods when I am on plan. And I always wanted to try putting crystal lite in my smoothies but I always forget to pick some up. :dizzy: I need some kind of more stable food plan that I can stick to. I've been just winging it for months, sticking to high protein, trying to eliminate processed foods and drinking lots of water. It worked for me to lose almost 100 pounds, but I think I need to tighten it up more. Gotta find something....

Great job, ladies :). I haven't been taking the eating too seriously but that's ok. Last night, I did my first workout on a rebounder (mini trampoline) and I had a blast. So glad my mom found that thing at a garage sale. It's supposedly one of, if not THE BEST exercise you can do for your body and I plan on sticking with it :). I did it last night for 12 minutes and I will do that every day from now on. As it gets easier, I will add more minutes but until then, I'll stick with 12 a day :). My abs are sore today so it definitely works. I will keep you all updated with how my body changes as I do it :).

Congrats on making it to goal Slim!

I have to admit I have been lurking. I have been so disappointed that despite the fact I am being consistent with everything, I still am gaining/losing the same few lbs.

This morning I am back down to 290.6. I don't see how I can lose 6 more lbs in a week so I think my goal will be to just get into the 280s.

Thanks justaloozer. You just have to stick to it, sometimes the scale does not match up to our efforts - trust me I have been there - but the key is determination and consistency. It will pay off - believe me.

Hey Ladies!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I haven't been on here hardly at all the last week or so. It's obviously been a busy time, and I'm kinda glad it's over now. :dizzy:

I haven't been on the scale in like two weeks and I still have until the 1st for my husband to give my scale back to me. I'm thinking I'm not going to like what I see when I do get on it again. I've indulged in the holiday way too much and I'm kind of mad at myself now. I need to get back on track in the worst way and there's still too much temptation around. We're having a New Years eve party too, so I have to get through that. Hopefully I can start getting back in the swing of things this coming week and once the new year hits, get back to seriously on track.

Congrats, Slim. That's a big deal that you were able to stay on track through the holidays! Great job. Good job to EVERYONE who was able to put in some effort this month. LOL...I know it was tough.

I did okay but not great. I worked out some....diet wasn't good enough. I'm not worried. The new year is almost here and WE ARE STARTING OVER. In fact, I think I will post the brand new thread tonight too because I will be doing some moving all week so probably won't have time later.

So, let's leave this icky feeling of failure behind us and start fresh, ladies :). I actually did a little grocery shopping tonight. I'm gonna start my diet early. My cruise is just three months away so it's time to get serious. I went ahead a bought some Slim Fast for now.......then, once I get all moved in an situated at my mom's place and get a blender of my own, I'll buy some of that Whey stuff so I can make my own :). I also bought some apples :).

Well, I'm off to go post the BRAND NEW THREAD! When I'm down, I'll post a link here :)
