You know, we are ALL faced with the tormenting Holiday season coming upon us.

Lets face it, it won't be easy but WE can get through this.

I believe that NO MATTER WHAT if "WE" can dedicate ourselves even through the holidays to come here at a minimum ONCE a Day to check in, see how everyone is doing and ENCOURAGE one another we can truly break through the "Holiday Weight Gain Cycle" and yes you know what that is!!!!!!!;)

How much can we dedicate to one another?

Can you imagine each of us getting together aevery morning for coffee and sharing at our kitchen table?

Well can we look at this thread the same way?

Let's Bond, Let's put the WE back into our conversation, LET'S GO WHERE NO WEIGHT LOSS COMMUNITY HAS GONE BEFORE LOLOL

:woohoo::thanks2::han::val2::cofdate::goodscale:go odluck::coffee2:

I'm for it!! I've already promised myself I WILL NOT gain ANY WEIGHT this holiday. In fact, I've dedicated myself to stay on track and lose, in spite of all the goodies surrounding me. Holiday season is not a good enough reason for me to stay 200+ lbs.

GO US!

readytobeme2010- I'm with you! I am very determined to stay on track this season. For years now every winter I have packed on weight. I have decided NO MORE!! So everytime I see cake, cookies, choc covered cherries, cup cakes, pies, fudge, brownies, blondies, white chex mix candy, etc. (I guess you can tell I have a sweet tooth problem) anyway, every time I see these items sashaying through the door...and they will- I am going to look away- and remember how it feels to slide up and zip up those size 16 jeans!! :goodscale
With the hope in my heart I will some day wear a size 8 jeans!!!!!
:thanks1:

I need to learn how to put up an ticker and stuff...I guess I need to give myself some more time to learn on here :p Anywho, readytobeme2010 I think banding together is a great idea! I started at 260 and three weeks later I am at 255, lol not much but at least I am heading in the right direction...and everyone keeps asking why I started before the holidays. Well I started when I got the motivation to..no thought to as the time of year. Really, as a food addict I think anytime of year is bad. I have some great healthy recipes that I am going to make for Thanksgiving and I will have a small portion of white meat turkey and I will leave the room when dessert is served! Thats my easiest way to avoid sweets..I just leave the room!!

Beana, when they ask why now? Ask them why not now? If I always thought it was a "bad time to diet" then I must planning to be overweight forever.

Readytobeme, I am a chocoholic also. I love the take of hershey's nuggets. And ice cream. But this week I decided to go cold turkey. So far so good. I used to factor in 100 or 150 calories to give myself a treat. But I think I need to learn to be without and let those calories be put towards me losing weight. ITS HARD, but go get some fruit or drink some water and think about how much its going to hinder my efforts.

I'm in!! It's going to be tough, especially since I've always been the holiday baker for the family but I'm going to do it! I'm going to make mindful choices, I'm going to avoid all those lovely baked goods and snacky type things that are so plentiful this time of year. I'm going to continue to count calories and do my level best to stay on plan and NOT gain weight this holiday season!!

This is SO Awesome!!

SO Get this, my doctor last week even told me to wait till holidays were over!!!!!!!!!

Go Figure that one

See I am so stubborn and this time I will use it to my own benefit. Just because she said that to me, NOW I will go back in to her in three weeks and SHOW her butt how much I listened LOLOLOLOL

We can always find excuses of why not to start but it's ridiculous and it has to stop with US....

Together we need to choose what is best!!!!!!

Sunshine.....can someone actually cook WITH you to keep you accountable?

I have alot of cooking to do for Hanukah and for Thanksgiving.....

I homeschool my daughter and told her to keep track of me. She is 12 with a strong head like mine....SO SHE WILL! LOLOLOLOL

Count me in as a member of the WE Club. I don't have kids at home or a big family gathering to attend this holiday season, which I know many struggle with. But it's still a tempting time of the year. My work is filled with yummy things that call to me everyday. I have to say no and mean it!!

I'm determine to not have a gain this coming week. I have a nice dinner planned for Thursday, as well as a trip to the gym before I ever get to cooking.

I'm being mindful that the meaning of Thanksgiving is to be grateful for what you have in life. I'm VERY grateful that I know how to cook delicious and low calorie foods. I'm grateful that I know the importance of weight-loss and what that will mean to my health and looks. I'm really grateful that I don't need to stuff myself silly in order to enjoy this holiday.

WE can come threw this week with our heads held high that we were in control of our eating and that our eating didn't control us. Right!! :carrot:

readytobeme- Hi, I noticed too that we are the same height. I started in June 2010. I weighed 255 Lbs. I have tried for a long time to lose weight and would not lose an ounce. I would diet and exercise only to gain weight??
I have Crohns disease so while at my regular apt. with the Dr. last May I told her I was unable to lose weight. She told me she wanted to check my thyroid. Simple blood test...it showed I had hypothyroidism. She said my numbers were very high making the metabolism not function right. Anyway, I started the replacement meds and lost some weight right away. I knew it was fluid because my legs were not as painful to the touch anymore.
I got to thinking I wonder if I tried again to diet and exercise if I could lose weight? So I started counting calories and walking. I lost a lot at first real quick. Then it got to where it was coming off at a more normal pace. Each week I lose anywhere from 2, 1, .5 or none. Some weeks I may gain 1 or 2 Lbs. but it usually comes back off again. All these months it has been a downward spiral. I am calorie cycling now. It works really well with me. I eat between 1200-1600 calories daily. And I walk or use Leslie Sansones walk at home DVD.
Also be sure to keep a journal of your weight loss. Date/ weight. A few day's ago I got to thinking that I was not losing very good so I looked back at the dates and weight and realized I'm not doing too bad after all. I weigh daily and I really see the weight move up and down and it makes me think I am not doing good. But then I notice on the journal that each week there is a loss.
I'm thinking about maybe starting to weigh once a week- then I won't be so sad to see the ups and downs daily.
:wave:Keep us posted on your journey!!!

I always come to 3FC every day, holiday or not! I don't always post but I ususally read something that either makes me laugh or want to cry or just go hmmmm... it kind of puts it into perspective that i've come a long way and have a ways to go yet!

Canadian Thanksgiving was last month of course, and I've used the same strategy for it and Christmas the past 3 years. I made a PRIORITY LIST of what I can't live without:

Mom's Turkey Dinner
Shortbread cookies (christmas)

So, in order to enjoy the turkey dinner (ONE dinner) I didn't have dessert or booze and had a nice sized dinner with gravy and stuff and it was mouth-wateringly good. (i can do 'substitutions' for a lot of things, but NOT turkey dinner). Happy to report no weight gain, as only white turkey meat came hoem with me .

Christmas is the same, and I fully and completely indulge in that ONE MEAL, not the whole week. I adore shortbread cookies, so I wait til the BEST ones are available (my gf makes them) and I get only 6 ~ 1 a day for a week, or 2 a day or whatever, that's it!!

Finding what you LOVE and planning for it is awesome ~ and I believe that you don't have to compromise, have the real thing, one portion and enjoy it!

ksmommy~I know exactly what you mean, I have cut out everything that causes a craving for me. That includes sweets, cheese (milk products)..I have been without for 3 weeks now and have only had two cravings the entire time!! yay!! And the cravings were always in the evenings right before bed...so I just went to bed! lol sounds silly but it worked for me and I have to do what works. This is so important to me..not to give up anymore. Not to cheat. Sooo I can't wait to say come January I LOST 10lbs vs I gained! Thats a great mini goal huh? :)

Hey I want to be in the WE plan . I just had Thanksgiving Dinner last weekend ....gained 5lbs after eating leftovers for 3 days. I made Pumpkin Roll and home-made Carrot Cake (the word carrot did not make it low calorie) for the first time in two years I totally lost sight of what I had work so hard for. Today has been a new day for me. I never want to do that again. I am going to another dinner Thursday at my cousins. It is so much easier for me to go somewhere and be in control than pig-out here at home. I will stay away for the desserts Thursday. I promise you all !!! I have lost 65 lbs and that feels GREAT ! I don't want to ever feel the way I did 65 lbs ago !:thanks2:

Good Morning All!!! Hope everyones first day on the "WE" pledge went great!! Mine was faboosh....however, looking up recipes last nite really had my sweet tooth tingling...I think I lingered at a page showing a pumpkin cupcake with icing for like 10 minutes...BUT!! I closed the page and went to bed! LOL! My plan of going to bed everytime I get a craving at night is gonna have me sleeping well!!
Sooo...my scale is not working...bought new batteries but still not working so I am going to go purchase a new one today...this forum has me really wanting to keep track of the weight I lost...I used to think losing a pound or two here and there was nothing, but now I understand it's small steps to get to the big payoff!! And I can't wait! I can't wait til next Christmas when I am down to my goal weight and can finally wear a beautiful outfit and take a family Christmas pic!! I Can't wait!!!!!! :)

I'm not making any cookies, cakes, stuffing etc. I may have a few bites of pumpkin pie but then that's it. Not making any rolls or biscuits.

Let's be thankful we are losing instead of thankful it's an eating all day kind of holiday!
