This is it, one of the 2 or 3 hardest weeks of the year when you aren't following the typical US diet. Whether your plan is to take the day off Thursday, indulge in just one off plan meal or one food or to stay on plan right through there are 6 other days filled with temptations and barriers to exercise. So stop in and make a plan for your day and support one another. We can all use it!

It's time for a new week of talking On-Plan! This is the place for South Beach meal plan and food support, encouragement and questions.

Anyone, from any phase (1, 1.5, 2, 3, etc.) can post, and those who are new to 3FC are especially encouraged to do so!
This thread is for questions, sharing advice and strategies, and encouraging each other to stay on plan. It is not for chatting about daily life unrelated to this topic. Members have indicated that they would like to have chatting remain in the Daily Thread, so any posts that are off topic or chatty will be moved by the mods to the Daily.

Because people from different parts of the plan are posting here, it'll help everyone if you indicate what phase you're in when you post. Thanks!
While you may certainly find, from time to time, the need to ask for help after going off plan, remember that this thread is about staying on plan. When you share details of off plan foods you've eaten, it can upset, tempt, and otherwise frustrate other members, so please keep these details to a minimum.

So, share with us: How are you staying on plan this week?

The next several weeks are going to be pretty challenging with all the holiday goodies around, but I'm planning ahead to help ward off any straying. I cooked extras yesterday so I'd have yummy leftovers for lunches and my supper this week, and I'm making a couple of SBD friendly recipes to go along with our Thanksgiving dinner so I can eat along with everyone else and not feel deprived.

I finally figured out what I'm bringing to T-day dinner - roasted butternut squash and brussels sprouts with shallots. I'm kind of glad that we're not having thanksgiving this year because (aside from the obvious), we won't have leftovers to call to me all the time.

My son is stressing me out today. I don't know what his problem is, but the non-stop tantrums over everything are just driving me to the brink. My older one never did this. Time to re-evaluate our game plan, I guess.

Also, TOM rolled into town today. Big spike on that scale this morning. :(

-
1: egg whites, ezekiel toast w/ almond butter
2: tabbouleh with sprouts and tomatoes
3: apple
4: grilled chicken, spaghetti squash and kale gratin

Just a small part of our family will be together at our house this Thanksgiving so we have decided to order dinner from one of the grocery stores. What a relief not to have to do all the cooking. I plan on eating turkey, grn salad and whatever SB veg I decide on. Then, all leftovers except for a plate for DH are going out the door with family as they leave.

Yesterday phase 1.5

B - 2 eggs, 1 turkey sausage, ff milk
L - 1 string cheese, apple
S - V-8
D - Leftover lentil turkey sausage soup and grn salad w/lf ranch dressing
S - Greek plain yogurt w/sf jam, pecans, splenda

I've had such great plans of where I want to be next week, next month..... and I haven't made it. I've finally realized that it's today I have to work on, not next week. So, if I can do today, I'll choose to be happy

B: HB egg, ww toast
L: Pork roast, broccoli
S: almonds
D: stir-fry chicken w/ vegies

feeling a little less bloaty today. I find that sweating a LOT makes battling the bloat a bit easier. Yesterday was a trifecta of stress relief - a kickboxing/step class, a cardio circuit training class and 3.1 miles on the treadmill. i was an oozing pile of mush afterward, but I felt so good.

Today is more of the same - DS1 is sick now (I knew it would make the rounds) so little things around the house and then gym this afternoon. Running and then yoga. WhooHOO! for Yoga Tuesdays!

-
P 2

1: greek yogurt with peaches, 1/2 grapefruit, tea
2: spaghetti squash and spinach gratin stuffed into a portabella mushroom cap (delicious!)
3: green smoothie
4: asian peanut butter turkey tenderloin, roasted brussels sprouts, broccoli

exercise: 45 min. yoga, 60 min. treadmill

Today's my first day on phase 1 and I messed up by making dinner for lunch but as long as I eat the lunch for dinner it should be ok. I borrowed the book from my mother in law so my meal is pretty much from the book plan except I made chicken instead of rosemary salmon because the fish prices were really high at the store and I like chicken better.

Breakfast:

Two mini vegetable quiches
Vegetable Juice
And a mug of the yummiest tea Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride

I put a tsp of sugar twin and a splash of skim milk in that tea and it was heavenly

Snack: String Cheese

Lunch:

Rosemary Chicken Breast
Asparagus with a little lemon juice
Salad with lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and cucumber
Water

Zef-They are listed on the "foods to avoid" list. I think they have a fairly high sugar content. I think I'm going to ignore the fact that they are off-plan though, since I eat them rarely and they have some other nutritional benefits.

B-slept right through it (yay for days off)
L-Veggie flat-bread sammie (not entirely whole grain, but considering the other options I'm putting it in the win column)
D-Salmon florentine with asparagus and broccoli

Spent the whole day shopping with my mother, since before today all the pants I owned I could take off without unbuttoning.

UserNameTaken, Congrats on having to buy new pants.

Today I ate (phase 1.5)

B - Protein shake
S - apple and natural peanut butter
L - White chicken chili and spinach salad, onions, radish, mushrooms, lettuce and lf ranch dressing. (didn't feel good after eating)
S - 1 cup Greek nf yogurt w/cinnamon, splenda, walnuts
S - 1 cup Greek nf yogurt w/cinnamon, splenda, sf jam and walnuts

Probably my worst on plan day since I started :(. Too many nuts. Lunch was late and I wasn't hungry for dinner. All this Thanksgiving todo is harder than I thought it would be. Will be glad when it is over and all leftovers are gone and life is normal again!

Yes, I'm actually planning my meals today :) I don't want to use the holiday as an excuse for a free for all. I've been doing way too much of that lately.

B: yogurt, berry, chia & protein powder smoothie (has anyone tried the Trader Joe's frozen cherry mix? yum!)

s: clementine or 2

L: split pea soup with veggies

D: tofurkey (usually half a serving because the servings seem large) with roasted veggies, mashed cauliflower, roasted squash

S: sf pumpkin cheesecake, wine

exercise: 60 minutes on something

Thanks, Tallandthin :)

Also planning somewhat today, but giving myself permission to slip a bit.
Phase 2
B-pumpkin smoothie (canned pumpkin, unsweetend vanilla almond milk, spices, and splenda), Pumpkin buckwheat pancakes with agave nectar
L-Turkey breast, lemon brussel sprouts, as little of the spin/artichoke dip Hubs bought at costco as possible
S-small sliver of pumpkin pie (will turn into a pumpkin today most likely)

Probably won't have real dinner, just snack on some more turkey and brussel sprouts.

20 minutes abs yoga already today. My goal is to add another 45 min exercise before it's over.

Happy Turkey Day, everyone!!

I came so close to staying on plan - Not too bad if I say so myself and I also had a good time visiting with family.

Thanksgiving Day - phase 1.5

B - 2 eggs, 2 turkey bacon, V-8
S - 3 tsp of guacamole (no chips!)
L - Shrimp Cocktail (shrimp, dill relish, onion, mayo, ketchup)
S - Greek nf plain yogurt w/cinnamon, splenda, pecans
D - Turkey and a cucumber plus two spoon licks of the yams as I was making them.
S - Greek nf plain yogurt w/cinnamon, splenda, pecans

I had planned on making me a SB pumpkin pie but got too busy with family but didn't really miss it. I also planned on making a better veg to go with my turkey but again, time slipped away from me. But overall I'm satisfied with how I did and TG is over and done with and I'm pushing forward. How did the rest of you do?

Congrats, TallandThin!

I did not do nearly as well as you as far as sticking to the plan (had a bit of stuffing and potatoes), but for the first Thanksgiving in a loooong time I did not eat to the point of discomfort. Back on plan as well as I can today.

Brunch-Eggs, spinach, RF mozzerella, and salsa in 2 carb balance fajita size wraps
Snacks-TBD
Dinner-Spaghetti and meatballs with WW spaghetti

Questions: What is a clementine? And, I see that several of you are using almond milk instead of regular milk. Can someone tell me if almond milk is better and why?

Back on plan phase 1.5 yesterday

B - 2 eggs w/lf cheese, 2 turkey bacon, ff milk, V-8
L - Apple and natural peanutbutter
D - White chicken chili w/slaw (cabbage plus 1 Tbls mayo and a little plain nf yogurt)
S - 1 cup Greek nf plain yogurt w/sf jam, splenda, walnuts

sophie

tall and thin

clementines are those little oranges that are in season around Christmas, if you get some be sure they are seedless. I use almond milk because it has less sugar and carbohydrates.
take care
Sophie

Thanks Sophie, just might try the Almond milk.

S - 1 cup Greek nf plain yogurt w/cinnamon, splenda, walnuts.
