Exercise! - Keep track of your own monthly exercise here! (November)

During my cardio one day I was thinking how interesting it would be to know how many minutes I exercise in the period of a month.

So I am posting my exercise minutes daily in this threat and you are welcome to keep your data here too, so we can keep ourselves motivated.

I started it last April and I was shocked to learn that in 3 weeks I worked out over 3,000 minutes!!!!

What a motivation!!!
It has helped me to keep going, because I want to see the minutes go up each day in this threat.

You can even break the months down and learn how many minutes you worked out each week (and use the info to analyze your weight loss in that period) or maybe after 12 months you could add all the numbers youíve got monthly and see how many minutes you exercised during the whole year.

You donít really have to post every day, as long as you keep track of the minutes from previous days and post it at once. It is up to you...

* Make sure you get your minutes from your OWN last post.

You can see my threat from October here:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/exercise/213709-keep-track-your-own-monthly-exercise-here-october.html

This month I will start doing it different. Iíll now also keep track of each kind of exercise I do. So I will be describing my activity too.

:wl: Letís do it!!! :boxing:

How is everyone doing? I had my most intense zumba class today - the other two teachers I attend aren't quite as high energy or jumpy as this instructor is, but she really motivates me. At first I didn't like her barky style, but I'm getting used to it. Turbo Kick tomorrow, and weights hopefully!

Hi fitkristi!
Tell you the truth, I don't like instructors that push too hard on cardio exercises. I don't mind weights or even spinning though... But any other hard cardio just pushes me away from exercising!!!
But some people can do it and I give them lots of credit for it!

I actually left her class after 10 minutes the first time I went - vowing to never attend her class again! But I gave it another try because her class is ALWAYS packed - so I figured there must be something there.

@joyfullloser - I'm so sorry for you loss. Good for you for jumping back in!

I had my big workout day today, with two classes back to back. I need to eat a granola bar or banana or something in between because I kind of ran out of steam toward the end of the 2nd class (turbokick).

Thank you and I too am sorry for your loss:hug: My brother's death was completely unexpected as well...it makes you think and appreciate life more...once you see how truly fragile it really is. Running has really helped me a great deal...I love it...used to run outside, but with the cold weather here, I just bought a treadmill...great for the mind and body!:carrot:

sorry about both of your losses joyfulloser and jenjen! It must be hard to get back on track after that, but so happy you bought a treadmill!

--
I'm working out hard at the gym, every second day. Today I'm doing 45 mins on the epiliptical. I have been running/walking intervals and have built up to jogging for 2 mins and walking for 1 min for 20 mins, then doing 40 mins on the epiliptical. I'm also doing weights. Today will be biceps/triceps/shoulder workout with 8-10 pound weights. :)

Weird thing is I feel like I've gained weight, (ill know tomorrow), I think it is because I am putting on some muscle and I know for a while I'll feel bigger until I lose a bit more weight. Happy working out!
Congrats all on keeping track this month!

Thanks, jojo & joyfulloser.

It was tough getting back into a routine at first. It's funny, because we were forever swapping clothes. One of our weights would go up, and the other's would be down. I have so many clothes in my closet that were hers, or that were mine, hers, then mine again. She was on the smaller side when she died and had just bought a ton of new clothes. I picked out things that I would wear and my mom is holding them for when I can fit into them. I'm hoping that will be soon.

Now... to all of you who had lost someone recently and are back in the exercise routine:
You are in the very least an inspiration!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your stories with us... It will help us to keep ourselves on track. Well, at least will help me, because I will think: If they, who are going through this difficult time of their lives can do it, I should not even think about not coming exercise.
Be strong chicks!!!

I'm jumping in late as far as your conversations regarding loss go. Also, I do not know any of you well enough to offer much support and condolence without sounding like a creepy stalker, but I do understand what loss (or, in my case, near loss) can do regarding health and exercise. In that case, I empathize with you, and I am sorry for your losses, all of you.

That being said, here are my NOV times so far:

7: 45 min run/abs
9: 30 min elip, 1 1-hr class
10: 1 1-hr class

Thank you Belezura and Downer:hug: Yeah...it helps the mourning process to keep busy and LIVE..:)

Sorry, but nothing to report today...we'll see if I can get something going later today...My muscles are really sore from yesterday's outdoor trail run (2.6 miles without walking and a total of 4 miles ran with about 4 minutes walking in between 2.6 miles and the 4 miles...my all time high so far!) My muscles are actually ACHING...can barely walk...my thighs are so hard and tight...who knew running on a trail outdoors could be so much more strenuous than treadmill running? haha..

Well, THIS Fat lady didn't sing yet though...

Will report later...

Have a nice day all!:)

Hi joyfulloser
Maybe you could do something very light, like just a walk or even a Recumbent Bike, if you have access to one.
That's what I do... I always try to get something in... It make me feel better.
But I understand that some people need the time off though...
Have a great weekend!!!

Today I had a crappy day. I slept most of the day because I felt so tired. It was supposed to be my workout day, but I'll fit it in this weekend instead.
Funny how just losing a few hours of sleep can screw your system right up.
I may try to get out even for half hour walk tonight.

Hi jenjen...
To tell the truth sometimes is hard to believe I do all that too....
But I try just don't think about it... I take one day at time...
and most of the time I like to be at the gym, because it keep me from eating...
so between eating and exercising, I choose the last one as much as I can... When I miss one single day of it I feel terrible!!! I try to go even if it is to take it easy (which never happens when I get there, but it gets me to the gym)...

Wooo - just finished my 2nd round of Zumba for the day. I love this instructor - I used to take her class on Sundays until she had to quit teaching then, so I made it work so I could attend her class tonight, even though I already did a super intense Zumba class earlier today. Glad I did - put me over 1K calories burned for the day!

I'd like to jump in as well. Last month I was exercising an hour to three a day. I do mostly water aerobics and the like because I have arthritis. Losing some weight made a huge difference. I am able to start climbing stairs. However, the day my family set out to go for our first hike....I tore a muscle in my calf. So I am sort of sidelined...but not completely! I got back to my water aerobics yesterday. It was a shortened version since that was all my leg would allow but was glad to get back in it.

My goal is that next summer, I want to climb to the summit of Mt. St. Helen's.

Woke up this morning and went for a 45 minute walk with the puppies (ok they are 3 year old beagles but we call them puppies) and my youngest daughter. We walked till just before sunrise and it was the best exercise. My daughter and I enjoyed the time together very much. PLUS I was FULL weight bearing!! Hi. I'd like to join in, too, if it isn't too late. I'm sort of starting fresh from today onward and would like to continue editing this post through the rest of the month. :) I'll list minutes and any interesting discoveries or observations during my workouts (trying to stay motivated).

21 -- Walked briskly for 70 minutes (near the end of which, I found a lovely little isolated park in my neighborhood in which I did some push-ups, crunches, squats, & similar activities)
22 -- 0 minutes (I was a little sore from the other exercise and had more writing work to do; neglecting a workout made me feel terrible and guilty; However, I did a lot of vigorous housecleaning that FELT like exercise!)
23 -- Walked for 20 minutes (Afterwards, I felt like it wasn't enough, but I was on a deadline and had some work to do; I'm realizing the importance of scheduling workouts properly.)

Bele, you are absolutely amazing with your exercise! Welcome Ragdoll! I just started as well.

My plan today was to do an hour of walking and an hour of water aerobics. I walked for twenty minutes and my leg was so sore that I figured I don't want to put more stress on it. So I cancelled the water aerobics (sigh) and I will do the walking in three segments of 20 minutes. Morning, afternoon, evening. That shouldn't put too much strain on a healing muscle I hope. I really wish this thing would hurry and HEAL so I can get back to my normal routine.

Really I can't complain because it is healing way faster than my original estimate but still...it's frustrating!

Woot!!! Two hour workout today!!! It's been ages since I have been able to do that. It was REALLY enjoyable because my twins walked with me for 40 minutes and it was a lot of fun. Plus I love 5 more pounds!!!

Welcome Ragdoll! I just started as well.
I really wish this thing would hurry and HEAL so I can get back to my normal routine.

Thanks, roxannestags! (I changed my name, by the way, in an effort to protect anonymity and be more positive; both a result of being more honest about my goals and struggles).

It's a good thing that you are accepting the demands of your body. That is, listening to your body and allowing yourself to heal to avoid damage is really important and it's great that you are being careful. As you seem to be training for a mountain-climb, I imagine this listening to the body will be a valuable skill. Hang in there!

Hi Chicks!! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving...
On my last post I talked about the Total Body class I took and how I loved it...
The same day, but at the evening I took another new class, but now for cardio...
It was Body Combat (the only one from the body series of classes that I didn't have taken so far).
I guess now it is official... I don't like any cardio classes... that is just not my thing...
the only cardio class that I can manage to follow is Spinning!!!
At least I found something!!!
Now, tonight (Friday) I found this machine that is a bike with a screen that works like a video game...
the handles from the bike move and you can choose different scenes to ride and compete with other bikers along the way... It is like a bike video game, where you work out while playing it... It is great!!! you can create a account and follow your progress and compare it with other "players"!!! Super motivational!!! I just loved it!!!
So, I guess I am incorporating this one more category to my list!!!

Ok that bike sounds super cool! I wish we had one. I had a good Thanksgiving. Scale said 3 pounds over after Thanksgiving but I think honestly it was water weight because I did not overeat. Did a two hour workout the day after Thanksgiving, an hour and a half the next day and am going to do another hour and a half today. Today is aqua zumba and lap swimming.

I was going to walk today but my leg is really sore so am not going to walk. Going to take it easy on my leg.

Tomorrow will be a no exercise day. I'm going to pick the kidlets up from their Gram's and won't be able to make it to the gym. Too cold to walk outside.

Did anyone else do a major workout the day after Thanksgiving?

Bel - Hahahaha...don't feel bad...I HATE cardio classes too!;) As a matter of fact I hate working out in public...period!!! That's why I invested the gym membership money in a home gym a few years ago...but that bike thingy sound waaaaaaaaaayy cool!;)

WOW...I really can't understand...working out the way you do...there is absolutely NO WAY you can't eat whatever you want in whatever quantities you want it...your metabolism has got to be revved to the MAX!!!! haha...I hope you enjoyed all the stuffings!:)

Rox - Sounds like you've been kickin butt too with all that working out. I'm feeling like a slouch here at max 70 minutes of working out. Way too go! Enjoy your day off...I took my day off yesterday...and maybe tomorrow to...I'll see how I feel!:)

Ok...accountability time:) *GREAT NEWS* NO MORE KNEE PAIN and I ran 3.1 miles today and added an addition 5 minutes pre-workout walk...and my left knee is OKEY DOKEY! Woo Hoo!!!

My gym had this 90 min spinning class Thursday and Friday!!!
I was there for it on Thursday and it was CRRRAAAZZZYY! The class was full for the first time since I started doing it. I guess people was really willing to burn all the Thanksgiving calories...
The regular 60 min class is already tough, and this 90 min one was insane... I joined it thinking I was just going to be there for one hour, but I manage to stay until the end!

Mon, November 29, 2010 - NO WORKOUT...feeling lousy, TOM and feeling blah about my 1lb weight gain. Wouldn't feel so bad if it weren't for the FACT that I ate perfectly normal (low fat, low cal, no excesses), didn't miss a workout and GAINED!

I know people who ate their butts off and lost a pound...what's going on here????? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

End Rant.

joyfulloser,

What??? you didn’t overeat on Thanksgiving??? You are awesome!!!
Now, about the weight gain... it happened to me before. But you can’t let it get to you...
Sometimes I feel like it happens to test you... to see how much are you committed!
If you stick to your plan and work through this incident, you will see a bigger drop in the future. It happened to me feel times. And let me tell you... it totally worth the wait...
Hang on there... you are doing a great job and will be rewarded by it.

I totally crapped out this month. Haven't done any "formal" exercising since mid-month. I am going to work out tonight after work and will restart in the December challenge.

Everyone has done a great job & is so inspiring!
