It's crunch time exercisers. The holidays are here, food is plentiful and tempting, and the cold weather makes it easy to skip exercise. We all know that regular exercise not only burns calories but is a great mood lifter when the short days and holiday stress hit. What is your plan for November? Whether you're a new exerciser or a committed fitness buff (I mean you Natasha ;) ) this is the place to stay accountable, cheer each other on and even get that occasional :kickbutt: we all need once in awhile.

Ok, here goes!
I've never joined an exercise challenge before but I know I need to start exercising for my body and my sanity :)
I pledge at least 30 minutes of walking a day (and on Mondays and Tuesdays that will be during my student clinical rotations at the hospitals (which means walking ALL the time!) but no other excuses on the other days...) and 4 days a week I will do at least 15 minutes of elliptical machine in addition to walking. My husband wants me to start doing some strength training but I don't know what that means or entails so I will hold off on that for right now.


November goal: 19 hrs.
Goal so far: 2.25 hrs
Lbs so far!: 1.6

OK, I'm in and this is also my first time joining an exercise challenge. Because of my age, current health condition and the fact that I haven't been exercising, I'm going to start off slow and will build from here.

Goal: 600 minutes of walking
So far: 923 minutes

Week One
1 = 20
2 = 20
3 = 20 - My legs are talking to me!
4 = 20
5 = 30 - You go girl!
6 = 25 - Huffin and puffin and sweatin!
Week two
7 = 25 - On a rainy day! Talk about commitment!
8 = 30
9 = 40 - 15 around hospital grounds and 25 at home later
10 = 30
11 = 25
12 = 25
13 = 28
Week three
14 = 30
15 = 90 (60 pounding sidewalks window shopping plus claiming 30 more out of 120 instore and grocery shopping)
16 = 28
17 = 33 (I conquered the hill :bravo:)
18 = 32 (Still making it up and over the hill)
19 = 34 (ditto)
20 = 35 (raining here and I so wanted to use that as an excuse not to walk but I didn't!!!!!)
Week four
21 = 33 (OMG I didn't want to walk this morning and apparently my legs didn't either as they felt so heavy...but I'm sooo glad that I did as I have met and am now exceeding my goal! :cheer:)
22 = 31
23 = 39 (walking in the fog today, it was so quiet)
24 = 20 (10 walking and 10 beginning yoga which was a funny)
25 = 34
26 = 40
27 = 34 (in the rain again)

29 = 15 (Way too busy and didn't have exercise as my #1 priority)

My goal is 1500 minutes. This month is difficult because I will be spending so much time on the Eastern Slope where exercise has traditionally not been so "automatic".

YES! I need this challenge. I didn't set a goal last time and it showed... So for now (subject to change), my goal is 1800 minutes - an hour a day - of something somewhat strenuous, whether it be walking briskly, yoga, pilates or weight-lifting. I am still trying to start running again, so we'll see if that can come about or not
