Happy November ladies -

I can't believe it's November already. Had a good weekend...got my work done Friday night and Saturday morning, and then took the dogs to the groomers, and me to my hairstylist for a color and cut. Yesterday was a busy day for DH working on the truck, the garage door and the snowblower, which are all well repaired and ready for the next season. I spent most of yesterday relaxing. I had lots I "should" have done...but just too tired to do any of it.

I didn't do a great job of being On Plan in October, and between that and the lack of exercise, I gained a fair amount of weight...I haven't weighed myself, but my clothes are tight. But I'm NEVER EVER EVER giving up...so here is my plan for November.

Optimism and positive outlook
No overeating - Portion control and tracking are a must

Plenty of exercise - start with 15 minutes per day, working up to 1/2 hour or more.
Lots of fresh food - fruit and vegetables - aiming for the 2 and 5 plan (I do ok with veggies...just gotta get the fruits in)
Adequate rest
No slacking off / no excuses - Do the VERY best I can regardless of pain level or health

Annie - Sounds like you had quite the busy weekend!! I hope you're not too exhausted. Rest when you can, my worldly sista.

Laura - You did a lot over the weekend as well. I got tired just reading your post.

Mel - I hope your eyes are doing better today. Rest up, girlfriend, tomorrow is Election Day.

Ceejay - Do you go back to work today?

Shad - Is DS1 in So. Oz due to DP1 or work or ?? Hopefully, he'll have the opportunity and the means to move closer to family soon.

Happy - Hope you had a great weekend, girlfriend.

I'll check back in later.

Love to all,

November NOT Giving UP, crap if I had, I would of exited this world a long time ago. lol

Got home from work last night and crashed. Bella is sure missing momma being home, she was one lover puppy this morning. Wanted me to hold her and kiss on her. That is not her personality normally. A quick pat and atta girl is all she will usually stand. Don't work tonight and do not plan on going ANYWHERE, altho I do need to visit my dad.

Shaddie...thanks for starting the new thread and what a great title. Back at cha, never never give up.

Chelle....Let's go, make your goals stick this month....Thanksgiving or not, you CAN and WILL do this.

My plan is to continue to eat healthy, maybe try a little bit of that thing called exercise....alcohol beverages one or two nights a week or maybe just the weekends depending on what I have going on. Journal, this remember what I did thing is for the young as I have NO memory.

Gotta get busy...

Love and Hugs

Happy Monday ladies.

Shad – Your new garden sounds nice – wall, pots, geraniums and all. Looking forward to some photos. RE the coyote – I didn’t think they’d be in our area either because it’s not rural at all, and it’s a few miles from the nearest forest preserve. However, the creek area where I walk the dog is adjacent to a golf course, so between those two green areas, I’m not surprised that’s where a wild animal might be if he was roaming the area. Thanks for setting up the November thread for us!! GREAT TITLE!! I'm not giving up. This weekend I installed an app called Lose It! on my phone for logging my food and exercise. Too bad I forgot my phone at home today, duh! No excuse though...

Michelle – Glad you got your work done and that you rested up on Sunday. Good for dh getting the equipment ready for winter. I need to remind bf to do the final lawn mowing and put the mower, trimmer, etc to bed for winter and make sure our snowblower is ready. Maybe all that readiness will mean we won’t get much snow, LOL. A girl can dream…

Annie – Poor puppy missed her mama! Hope you have a nice restful evening tonight! Last night bf and I finally made that rigatoni w/ mushroom sauce recipe you posted. Awesome - we both LOVED it. We only had half the amount of mushrooms called for, so we added some sautéed chicken breast. It’s definitely a keeper, but I need to watch my portion size! Tempting to eat more than a modest portion because it’s so tasty – need to serve a salad with that.

Hellos to Mel, Ceejay & Happy!!

Sunday was alright. Before the village’s (“official”) trick-or-treat hours began, bf and I took doggy for a walk. After that, I raked a bit of the front lawn where leaves had piled up. Bf helped me finish, and then we went inside and sat around to greet more trick-or-treaters. Doggy was not happy about strangers dressed strangely coming up to the house all afternoon and early evening. He was stressed and barky the whole time, except for the last couple hours when I gave up and went down to the basement with him. The last hour of our “time out” he slept very soundly – poor guy had worn himself out being on high alert all day.

As it does twice a year, my clock radio reset itself for the DST time change. Too bad DST doesn’t end til next Sunday. Bf had told me my clock reset itself, but I forgot to correct it. So I overslept this morning and was about 30 min late for work. This annoyance is almost worth buying a new clock radio. But with my luck, the government would probably change the DST dates again, and then I’d have another smarty pants clock changing the time on the wrong dates.

Nothing going on today. I have to cancel tonight’s gynie appt because TOM came a day early. Yes, it’s that predictable…until now. But that’s what I get for letting my bc rx run out last month. Okay, TMI. So…nothing going on tonight. I will do a dog walk and a BE workout.

TTFN!

Welcome to a new month ladies,

I am happy to see this calendar fly by.

3 times I sat down this weekend to post and every single time DH - who sits at a desk across from me - started yakking away. So I never did get to post. But he's not here right now and hopefully the people at work will leave me be for a few minutes

Did not do Halloween this year. Didn't need the candy temptation laying around and we get very few kids. I also need to get used to cutting unnecessary spending and $20 on candy for strangers seemed unnecessary. Looks like I'm not the only one as our street was rather dark last night - you're supposed to leave your porch light on if you're accepting visitors.

The great give up Coca Cola experiment. I made it a week - drank 2 percent milk, tea with 1 spoon of sugar (far less than a can of soda) or plain water. And gained 4 pounds. I kid you not. Still had the aches and pains that I thought were attributable to eating sugar. Started drinking soda again - just one can a day as a treat - and the weight dropped back off. I don't get it I take away from this to limit my soda to one can a day, a smaller portion size if I get it from the cafeteria fountain and to increase my plain water intake that I've been slacking on.

Just to aggrivate myself I called the Retiree Service Center and asked what the insurance premiums would be for the retired. The same plan I am getting gouged on as an employee is costing almost $2,000 a month. $24,000 a year for insurance?????? You have to be freaking kidding me. I did check a couple of places and the same plan I can get for far less on my own by going directly to the carrier. It's not cheap but it isn't 24K either. It's enough to make one sick. No wonder the teachers are fighting tooth and nail to keep their free insurance.

Ok as far as never giving up... DH went to the doctor who told him to lose weight. He gave him a diet plan focusing on low glycemic. I read it over, made sense. Going to try it. Will be hard for DH who has to substantially cut back his juice habit - sometimes he goes through a half gallon in 2 days. I told him that stuff was as sugar loaded as soda. I am going to start walking the treadmill at home and at least 2 laps (1 mile) around the building at work no less than 3 times a week working to daily by December 1. To improve my attitude I am going to attempt the 101 Things in 1,000 Days. You pick 100 things in various categories - some good for you, some spiritual, some stretch objectives. You have about 2 and a half years to get through the list. I think it will help switch my focus to something more positive.

Oh boy you guys talking about getting your snowblowers ready for the season. Brrrrrrr.

Shad - the geranium pots on the wall sound just lovely. I too noticed that they are getting some different varieties that are very pretty. Those are rather hearty too. Can't wait to see pictures of the new garden.

Annie - can't believe Hella was NICE to you! Whoa I imagine you are away quite a bit so it's good that she stopped taking you for granted Have a nice, relaxing evening at home tonight - you deserve it.

Back from vacation Ceejay- doesn't it stink?

Michelle - good for you for taking a relaxing weekend. I know you have the bug to move around but that will come in time. Is there any way that you could go swimming while you are still healing up? It would be exercise but not so stressful on the back and joints. Of course it would mean joining a club and an additional expense. Or maybe a YMCA. I'm glad your hearing is ok - don't worry when we form our commune we will all be in the same boat so we'll have to enforce the "only one person has the floor at a time" And no window air conditioners in our house.

Mel - are you working the elections tomorrow? I wonder what's going to happen. Kinda scary in a way. Don't wear yourself out. Does Jen help out too?

Lunch is over. Back to my month end reports. Happy November to yous.

Hey everyone, I'd like to join! Here is my plan.

Only eat when I'm hungry. Do not eat just because it is "time" to eat.
No more excuses! I will stay on track and within my budget (calorie wise).

Portion control!!! Limit myself to one proper portion.
Lots of exercise!! At least 30 minutes 3 times a week to start.
Adequate sleep. For me, this will start out with at least 6 hours.
No snacking unless it is something healthy and fits in my calorie budget.

I am going to write this down and keep it in places where I can see it. I will also have it in my phone so that everytime I get a craving for something bad, I can just pull up my plan. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

I already made my plans last week.
I'll post it below.
I'd like to try for a 3 lb loss this month. Maybe if I get a bit stricter, a miracle could happen. I will never give up. Always praying!!
Work today was back & heart breaking. Tenants not coming home, one passed away...a lovely woman....others with really bad news. Sometimes the sadness is too much. We had a ton of repairmen and everything going wrong at once but it's done now. Problem is it took since 6:30 this morning!! After tomorrow I am taking the rest of the week off. I couldn't leave early today there was no one to spare. After food shopping on Thursday, I am crashing!! Jen & I had another good talk and it helps to keep the air clear. Tempers can flare when money is tight. But we've found much better ground now between us....... so that's one good thing this month too.
OK chicks...gotta get off here and just watch some TV.
Have a great night and a wonderful day tomorrow
MY ON PLAN GOALS FOR NOVEMBER:

Only home cooking.
No office snacking!!

Pedaling every day 20 mins. (I added 5 this month)
Lose 3 lbs.
Always drink H2O.
No slacking off. Finish the project.

Shad...thanks again for starting us off again. I was so psyched to see it. Sometime I feel like the frog and sometimes like the HERON!!!! Hope you got something to finally do on the job. Did I read right and DS1 left for home??? LOVING YOUR GARDEN IDEAS BUT NO COYOTES!!! I'll be making snowballs soon and wishing I was there with you!!!

HAPPY...THOSE INSURANCE NUMBERS ARE UNREAL!! OMG!! I CANNOT BELIEVE IT. HOW SAD IS THIS....AS MY BOSS & I ARE ALWAYS SAYING...ONLY IN AMERICA!! GEEZ!!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND DH WITH THE NEW PLANS. I LIKE YOUR 100 THINGS IDEA TOO!! AND I ADORE YOUR NEW AVATAR!!!

MICHELLE....LOVE THE NEW PLANS FOR NOVEMBER...GO GET EM GIRL!! HOW DID THE TRANS FOR THE CAR GO...I DON'T SEE ANY UPDATE OR I MUST HAVE MISSED THE DANG THING.....OH I SEE IT...THE TRUCK, DOOR & SNOWBLOWER. SOUNDS LIKE YOU GUYS HAD A BUSY WEEKEND!!!

LAURA...POOR DOGGIE WORE HIMSELF OUT! :rof: YOU CRACKED ME UP WITH THAT HIGH ALERT STATEMENT!! LOLOLOL TOO FUNNY. YOU HAD A BUSY WEEKEND TOO...WE COULD USE YOUR RAKING HERE!! THEY'RE FLYING ALL OVER THE PLACE TODAY. HOPE TOM IS KIND AND THE WEEK GOES BY QUICKLY WITH OR WITHOUT the bc rx (there can never bee too much information.......annie and i are here!!)

ANNIE......LOVE THE NEW PLANS....NOW EXACTLY HOW MANY DAYS CAN YOU DRINK???? HOPE YOU AND BELLA GET SOME DOWN TIME TONITE!!

CEEJAY....HOPE YOU GOT THE IP ADDIE BACK AND ALL GETS STRAIGHTENED OUT WITH VERIZON AND YOUR PC. WE MISS HEARING FROM YOU. HOW DID EVERYTHING GO WITH THE VISIT????

Afternoon everyone,

Shad
Thanks for the new thread. I'm ready for November, but where did the rest of the year gone.

Happy
I know how you feel about gaining those pounds instead of losing them after trying so hard. Stick to it.

Mel
Yep, election day is tomorrow. I voted early to avoid the rush. Like your quote.

Michelle
Your plan sounds good.

zoochick
Welcome to our group.

Hello's to Annie and Laura

Measured this morning and I've lost an inch in the waist. I'm happy about that. Sill haven't called Verizon about the computer. I get a lot more done after work when I don't turn it on. I'm going to wait till Thursday.
My bosses made me feel like they were glad I was back to work. One of my bosses told me this morning that he was making a "pre-test" to find out where he needed to start teaching the others for them to obtain their license. And he's starting the night shift on the paper work as well. I'm kinda curious as to what is going on and maybe I'm reading into things.

My sister, who will be graduating as a nurse practioner in May evaluated me, as practice while I was visiting, and gave me her opinion as to what diet plan I should be following. I asked her about carbs and I am to cut back on them, but not completely cut them out. She was very thorough.

Morning all,
And to Zoochick - or can we call you Kasey. It's nice to have new faces come to visit. Stay a while, sit a while, whatever you feel like. I must warn you though, we are a bunch of older ladies - notice I didn't say old - but we are still trying to get off the weight that life has given us. Doesn't matter how old you are, if you feel bad about the weight or the way you feel in your clothes it's a good time to try and get rid of it.

Kasey - love the roses in your avatar and I see you come from New Orleans. I hope you were not badly affected by Katrina all those years ago. It is so sad to see pictures of a beautiful city still on its knees after all this time.

Mel - such a busy time for you. And sad too when the seniors pass on. It must be a bit like a revolving door in your place. DS2 and I have some moments as well. It's always good to yell at each other and clear the air than hang on to it and suffer indigestion.

Michelle - DS1 lives and works in S.Aus. It is his partners hometown and he knows that in the IT world you more or less have to keep moving to keep up with developments. He wants to specialise more in Virtual Storage but staying in Adelaide will not get him anywhere in that field. Adelaide is small and the IT sector is a bit of a backwater. The State government induces companies to set up their IT sections there with tax cuts and benefits, however the companies tend to import their own people to do the work. And in the last few years much of the support work down there has gone overseas. To move on, he would need to go to Sydney or Melbourne, but his partner will not leave unless he gets a job overseas (like Hawaii) Practicality is not her strong point, since her Mum has a tumour in her neck and the Partner is adamant that she must micromanage the situation. Such is life.

Annie - with your work schedule, I am not surprised that you crashed yesterday. All these dirty words - exercise, no alcohol. Ooooh aaaaah.

Ceejay, nice to have you back. Glad you enjoyed your time away.

Happy - aaargh WHAT $24,000 per annum for health insurance. Hope you don't get any gaps that you have to pay for in that lot. A round the world ticket costs around $3500 with about 10 stops. Think of how many times I could go around for your $24K. Blo*dy ****.
Your plans for exercise and food sound good. Low GI is all the rage here at the moment. Basically it is the same good stuff as we've had preached at us for years - lean meat, fish and chicken with good fresh seasonal vegetables minus the spuds and the rice and the sweet stuff.

Zoochick - I understand from your bio that you work in a zoo - hence the name. Sounds like a great place to work if you ask me. The zoo I work in is of the human variety in all its many forms. You have some great onplan ideas there.

Laura - I brought some pics from home today, however I can't seem to resize them on this machine. I'll send what I can from home tonight. Garden is not finished, but you will get an idea.

Hope I haven't forgotten anyone. But I had better get on with my day.

Hi everyone -

I'm noticing that our systems at work run A LOT slower in the afternoons...so I'd better keep this short and get some stuff done while the systems cooperate.

Today is voting day in the U.S., and I encourage everyone to make informed decisions and vote.

to Zoochick! I would LOVE to work in a zoo. I would be very interested to hear more about your unusual job. We are a little older than you...but we are definitely a fun group of ladies. EXCELLENT On Plan goals, btw!

Mel - I hope the day isn't too long or too hectic for you. Please rest as much as you need to.

I'll write more later.

Love and hugs to all,

Good morning all,

Got up and decided to do a few things around the house this morning so I gave up my posting time.

Welcome Zoochick - glad to have you and likewise interested to hear your story.

For those of us stateside, I agree with Michelle - get out and vote if you haven't already done so. I just hope this country doesn't get tipped on it's side over craziness.

How did the cup game go Shad?

Don't work too hard today Mel.

Will try and catch up at lunch.

Good Morning and Vote Day....I made my voting choices this morning at 6:30 am. Believe it or not the line was about 10 deep. Unusual for my little area, but guess people are now making a stand instead of letting it ride and everyone else making their choices for them when they don't vote. Even got my red, white and blue, I Vote, I Count sticker which is proudly displayed on my blouse.

Today I brought Hazelnut Cream coffee to brew in our kitchen. Hope it tastes as good as it smells. Sure is making the place smell good if nothing else. Cottage cheese with my garden tomatos and banana peppers. I went out to check out the garden for descruction purposes and got a dozen or so 2" banana peppers and about 15 golf ball size green tomatos that I am ripening in brown paper bags. What a delightful treat in November. Only 4-5 mos tll planting season again. Very excited about that. Let's just skip the S stuff and move on to spring. BTW...coffee is scrumptious. Lunch will be pot roast, potato, carrots, onions I made last night. Quite tasty I might add. There is enough left to feed a family of 4. or all the worldlie chickies. I brought a granny smith apple and celery for snacking.

Chelle...don't work too awful hard today. Our system slows down certain times a day also. Must be too much traffic on the system.

Shaddie...hope they find something for you to do at work. I know it gets boring trying to entertain yourself all the time. lol

Zoochick...welcome, welcome....your goals sound doable, sticking with them is the tough part, however we are all here for encouragement. I do not claim to be as old as the other worldlies as I just turned 50 and that is the new 30...so 30 it is. lol

MELLIE...I thought about you when I went to vote this morning. Wondering what task you are doing. We do not have electronic voting machines in our little area. It is paper ballot. When I went to place my ballot into the ballot counter (I was #39 BTW), the "guard" was a vertically challenge man (midget, I know, incorrect). I was taken by surprise and I was not expecting that in my sleeper mode. He was sitting on a chair next to the machine and his feet did not hit the floor, I thought to myself...aw..there is Mellie, only in her wheelchair. lol

Ceejay...welcome back,. Glad you had a nice vacation and visit with family.

Happy...insurance premiums are out freaking rageous. I work at a health insurance company and am getting screwed so I know how you must feel. I didn't do halloween either, but then again I worked at CVS 2-10pm and couldn't anyway.

Laura...yep Bella and I crashed in the lazyboy for about an hour, woke up and wondered where the H I was...lol, Went and laid down on the bed to watch the COLTS game, fell asleep and woke up at midnight, missed the entire game. Turned everything off and got in bed. ZZZZzzzzz, honk shu!! Never heard of an alarm clock working like that. Usually, like cell phones, they follow the national time thing. Weird!!

Tonight is CVS, tomorrow night hair cut and color.

Hello's to everyone!

Love and hugs.

Annie
I love the electronic voting machines. I'll be really disappointed if our Mayor i sn't re-elected.

I'm hoping for the rain clouds that are on the radar move up our way. We need the rain.
Rode the bike for 30 minutes last night.
