GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:D

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

YOU KNOW

You know how completely right it feels when you genuinely offer kindness to another person. You've felt how truly right it can be when you're following a positive purpose with focus and passion and commitment.

And you know how wrong it can feel when you give yourself over to doubt, negativity, anger, and empty indulgences. So why do you keep going down those negative pathways, and so often turn your back on what you know is right?

Perhaps it's the perception that you have no other choice, that you're obligated to be tossed around by whatever comes your way. But that's not the case at all.

Certainly there are all sorts of things which are outside your control. But you always have complete control over what you do about them. That uplifting and energizing feeling of doing what you know is right can be a part of every single moment if you choose for it to be. The sickening feeling of regret need never darken even a single day.

At any given time you can choose to punish yourself or to fulfill your best possibilities. Make each moment, each day better than the best you've ever known by choosing to follow what you know is right.

Good Morning! Here it is, Monday. Another week. Another week for me resting, and wishing this sore throat to the devil. I slept a little bit better the last two nights, but not much. I am thinking about how nice it would be to hop in my car, and drive to the outlet mall. I need some stuff from the health food store there. I better not tho...I do not want a relapse.

DEB: Enjoyed talking to you Saturday. I talked to my hubby, and he is all in favor of my going to Orlando for the get together...but he wants to come too! Is the rate you gave me for 2 or 4 to a room? I told him if it was girls only, he would have to stay with his sister! :s: I intend to have fun! I also told him he had to start posting on the board if he wanted to come. He is rather quiet, but he IS doing SB... we shall see!

 Have a good day everybody! Remember, only YOU can make you succeed or fail! Stiffen those elbows!

I am still down the 12, and hoping it stays gone. This is a new low, but confused due to scale problems, so I really don't know the total, but it is somewhere around 40 pounds now.

MONET!! Just the girl I wanted to *see*. They were asking for you over at the lcc. I told Lindakimy and Christy that you are a full blown SugarBusters gal now but that I would pass on the greetings to you. Some of the old members have resurfaced lately and they were just bringing up some names. Good to hear that those 12 lbs are still gone. Still praying for your recovery.

I am back on the wagon after my indiscretions of the past week. I am back to exercising 5 days a week again and eating on plan 100 %.

Hope everyone has a great Monday! Hey, this morning I won a Burger King Breakfast certificate for $10 from the Christian Radio Station. I told hubby he can pick it up and eat the goods because I don't want to! He was thrilled of course.

Good morning everyone

It is a dull cool morning here. We could do with some of that Florida sunshine. Had a bit of snow a couple of times last week, luckily not enough to settle. I'm just not ready for shovelling snow yet. Heck most of the leaves aren't even off of the trees yet and some of them are still green.

Didn't get to post at all last week, too busy as usual. Also had my head stuck in a book which I had to finish. I decided to check my body fat last week on my ds's digital scale. It showed 41% body fat. Isn't that gross. :fr: :ink:. I've only checked it once before and that was when he first got the scale at the beginning of this year but I have forgotten what it was then and I didn't write it down so have nothing to compare it to. No change with the weight recently but at least now whenever I want to eat off plan or too much of anything I think of that 41% fat. Maybe this will give me some incentive to cut down my intake and hopefully see some changes.

Monet - Hope you are beginning to feel better and hope that those 12 pounds will stay off.

Have a good week everyone.

Marie.

Good morning everybody,

Well, it's another soggy Monday morning here in Central Texas. My fence and deck are turning green!! So much for the drought.

Had a great week-end and even stayed pretty much on plan. Went to the high school football game Friday night. Some poor kid that had his drivers license for all of about 2 weeks backed into a light pole at the band hall and knocked the stadium lights off for about 4 hours. The game didn't start until 9:30. It was fun, though and we won. How 'bout those Longhorns! The only team in the last 75 games to win in Nebraska. Yee-haw!!

Crystle, I made the gumbo yesterday and it was great. It was kind of hard to tell how long I was cooking the roux though since it started out brown with the ww flour. I probably should have cooked it a little longer. I also made some spinach bread to go with it. You take chopped spinach and add some onion and melted jalapeno jack cheese and then spread it over french bread and toast it. I found a great sprouted whole wheat loaf at Whole Foods and used that. Made some brown rice, yum! Too many starch carbs but I saved them all up for last night.

Deb, would you email me the stuff about the Orlando trip. I may ask hubby for that for Christmas. Sounds like it would be so fun!

I guess I better get to work. Have a great day everyone!

Trish

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Just got in from my walk and sweating profusely as I type. It's still hot down here, no reprieve and now they say we are going to have record highs this week:fl: That sucks! Just the same, I started my week out right and got my 4.5 miles in in not too bad of a time 50:05. I even broke in a pair of new running sneaks and they didn't even give me a single blister which is VERY unusual. Actually, I don't think I've ever worn a pair of sneaks and not gotten at least one blister the very first time-better not put a kunahora (curse) on myself, may just take time 2 to get one (or more!).

The laptop gave me a little bit of a problem this morning signing on, took me 4 tries, but finally was able to get on here and get the board started. I'm trying to find a way to get at least my favorites loaded up from the old computer to this one. I can't figure out how to get my filing cabinet though, and I REALLY need what's left in there. I've lost so many recipes, information, you all just don't know and it kills me, but I will survive!:) Anyone want to give me their 2 cents about their computers past and present and what they like, or dislike? I'm all ears!

Scale is about the same for me, at 126.5 yesterday and today. Still on track with my eating and hoping to see it move down a little more. Didn't do as well with my water yesterday as I have been the last 2 weeks, but I did really well Sat. with drinking over 3 liters! I swear I was making numerous calls to the "urination stations" all over Miami! Back on track with the water today. Already have had 1.5 liters:cp:

MEMBER MESSAGES: Got a call from BIGK last week and she wanted me to tell you all that she would be MIA from posting on the board for a while but would try to read when she can. She's going through some person problems at this time and needs to focus on a few things, nothing to do with being off SB but trust me, she needs some time. Also, got an e-mail from QUILTER and she won't be on for a little bit either, they too are having some computer trouble and she's having to have Paul send her computer in for repairs so she too will be MIA for a few days.

Okay, here's what little information I have to give you on THE WALT DISNEY WORLD MARATHON WEEKEND:

We are getting together in Orlando on the weekend of Janaury 10th, 11th & 12th, that's Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you are able to arrive in the morning, the better, gives more time to spend together:D We are planning on staying at the RIU HOTEL which is near Downtown Disney, just off of the I-4 Expressway (directions will be given). The rooms are nice and clean, nothing too fancy and definitely NOT overpriced. When BOB and I stayed there last time we loved it, even had a fridge in the room, which we'll request to have again if possible in all rooms, for those SUGAR BUSTER GOODIES we have coming and for what we may find;) They have what I would describe as a grourmet breakfast buffet that was included free and should be once again, y'all don't have any idea! It was valid for up to 4 people in the room and if you had to pay seperately, it was like $7 a person. The room rate we got last time was $45 a night for up to 4 people. We are hoping to get adjoining rooms, or at least a few. Friday evening we have an all girls only night planned, so any DH's coming have to be forewarned this is OUR night. We'll have dinner together and then we'll have some things planned in the rooms, we'll probably do this in 2 adjoining rooms. We won't stay up all night, I don't think many of us even can if we wanted to, but we want to have some energy for whatever Saturday holds for us (TBA). So Saturday, we'll plan something everyone (hopefully) will agree upon and enjoy and have dinner together. Sunday is race day, so those running (or doing a dead man's crawl as I think I'll be doing) will be looking for our SB CHEERLEADERS! After the race, we can decide what to do, sorta wing it I guess, unless someone has something specific in mind. Those joining us for this weekend, will be told well in advance some "stuff" we want you to bring to make this weekend more fun.

I wish you all could join us, though I know that's not possible, unfortunately. BUT, for those of you who can, or if it's a possibility, I hope you will try. If anyone will be flying in to Orlando, just let us know when and we'll make sure someone is there to pick you up. Driving in, will be happy to provide directions. You won't be sorry you came! Already, MELF & MONET are coming in from out of state (of course, along with FROG from NC). If you have ANY questions, please let me know!!!! Again, hope you can try and come!

MONET, sounds like you're doing a bit better. Just do what the Dr. says and you'll get better daily (at least I hope). Was great to talk with you too. I'm excited TOM says you can come, that's wonderful news and of course, he's invited! The room is up to 4 people which includes the breakfast buffet. The only time "the men" won't be around will be Friday night, that's totally reserved for the ladies. Saturday after breakfast we'll have something planned for everyone to take part in, whatever that may end of being. WOW, 40lbs, that's wonderful. Keep up the great work. I know some of that is due to being sick, but not all-so kudos to you!

GRACIOUS, glad to hear you're back on track. $10 worth of McD's food, hope he doesn't have to use it all at once, sounds like a lot of garbage food to eat in one shot.

ROSALIE, I'd love to exchange some weather with you, too darned hot down here. I don't know if I really believe those body fat scales. When we were in Orlando last year for the WDW to watch FROG & DH run, they had an expo and there was a booth doing the body fat on the Tanita scale and it said mine was 14%-no flippin way was the correct! I can grab a handful of fat on any given part of my body, so I know that's wrong. I highly doubt you have 41% BF on you!

Well, I'm going to say adios as more than 75% of Miami's population says down here. I have some errands to run today, bank, library, post office, etc. Have to go get something to eat from the fridge (like I can find anything in there!). Michael has his guitar lesson later, followed by his friend coming over to go with him to a college fair at the school tonight (I think it's a bit early, but what the heck) Gosh, I hope this kid eats before he comes over-gawd forbid I should have to cook!

Will check in later!

Have a wonderful week!!!

Mornin' y'all. Scales are down 1/2 lb today!:D That was my good news this morning. It all went downhill after that. Uncooperative kids who couldn't find shoes in the room they were supposed to clean up on Saturday. I found out this morning that the room that looked really good had everything stuffed in the closet and under the bed. :yikes: After much complaining from me, Maggie wore her Sunday shoes to school. Never did find her school shoes. I'm trying not to let my mood affect my eating. Did eat off plan a little last night. We had fellowship at church last night. Had a great singing group. Anyway, I had a couple of oatmeal cookies. Not too bad. My first cheat in a couple of weeks. Today's mission is to not let my mood affect my eating.

MONET:Keep taking it easy. Hope you have a better day.

MARIE: I'm trying to lower my fat intake too. I find it hard to get in all my protein without going over on fat.

GRACIOUS: Hey! At least you won something.:) Our local Christian radio station is giving tickets to see Phillips, Craig and Dean as prizes for their Bible trivia contest each morning. Of course, they do all of this while I'm in class so I don't have a chance to call and try to win. They winners are also entered in a drawing for backstage passes. Man I would love to go hear them.

Hope everyone has a good day and hoping I can check in later. I have a PTA program tonight, so my day is full.

Good Monday mornin', everyone! Glad to see most of us were able to resist the sugar temptations of last week! Gracious and Zanne, sorry you "fell off the wagon" -- I didn't know Canada participated in Halloween! Anyway, you are both back OP, right?!

Monet, glad you are some better and that you have managed so far to hang onto that 12-pound weight loss! Congratulations and keep up the good work...but get well so you aren't doing it with chicken soup! (I had to laugh at your comments to Debbie about your hubby wanting to come to Orlando with you if you get to come to the SB gathering down there...sounds exactly like what my hubby would say -- he'd want to come, too.

Take a look at my signature today and you'll see that I lost 8 pounds in October! Yippeeeeeeeee! That brings my total since 8/1/02 (when I started SB) to 28! Feels good, too! But it's just the tip of the iceberg!

Happy Monday Gang

Was glad to see the day start, yesterday was such a long day. Got to work to find that we had been broken into over the weekend. Nothing was missing and they didn't even get back to my office to mess it up. I think they were young and just looking for money. A little excitement to start our week.

I had to torture myself today. I jumped on the scale and it was up 2 lbs. I knew it and knew it would depress me, but figured maybe it would shock me into being 100% this week. Didn't really eat off plan, just too much and drank too much alcohol. Just don't know what got into me. So it's salads all week for me for lunch and water, water, water.

Going to be a busy week here. Need to get things ready for when I'll be gone. So I have to to the week work that I'm gone this week. :yikes: How do you do that?:?:

Monet, Don't you dare go to the mall. You need to rest. 40 lbs how awesome! You MM fit perfectly with Deb's. Take care of yourself.

Gracious, glad you are back OP and sounds like your are in the right mode with exercising too. Yeah on winning the BK, shame you can't use it.

Rosalie, Please don't mention the "S" word. I hate snow. It's pretty to look at, but I hate driving in it, being cold and shoveling it. You are braver than me on getting your BF, I'm scared to see. I just read in our paper Sunday a website to go to and they calculate it based on ht and wt. I believe (not sure) it was mybodyfat.com. I might fool around and see if I can find it.

Trish, I think you are sending us your rain. It rained all day Sunday and supposed to start again tomorrow. Plus it is cold here. Your bread sounds delish. Not sure ont he gumbo. Not my thing. Have a great day.

Deb, sounds like you are off to a good start this week. Breaking those new shoes in for the WDW? Sounds like a lot of fun sure wish I could come. But with the wedding and all, it finacially possible. Liked your MM. Very true.

Music, 1/2 lb down is great, don't eat off plan or you will lose that 1/2 lb (or should say gain) then your mood will be worse. Hang in there and you will feel better all the way around.

Bob, sounds like you had a fund girls shopping trip. Shame the HFS was a bust.

Got to get busy. Have a great day.

Jackie, bless your heart, you'll have those two pounds back off this week before you get to go on your cruise! Having to do all the work to cover the week you'll be gone will hack it off you and then some! When do you actually take off and hit the cruise line? For the life of me, I can't figure out why some of us have to work extra hard every time we take a few minutes off! I don't hear others having to do that! But all our work waits for us to get back to it, if we don't get it all done before we leave! Well, take it easy and just spend your week looking forward to that wonderful cruise!

Good morning everyone. Hope you had a great week-end. Mine was slow and lazy but did get my TM walking in. I'm trying to up it five extra min. a day. Thats my goal for the week. But thats a big deal for me with heart trouble. Hopefully all will go alright. I also want to try again working with light weights a little bit. I've put a pot of beans and ham hocks on to cook for dinner... It sounds good on this gray damp fall day we're having.

Debelli-your motival talk gives one something to really think about... Great going on a no blister run this morning. I didn't get my water down on Sunday so am making sure I'm drinking big time now.

Monet-Boy you're doing great with your weight.. Keep up the good work. Yep skip that mall and rest, rest, rest. I know it must feel like a lifetime of it!! Thats so neat your DH is doing SB too. Sure helps having a buddy doing it with you.

gracious-Congradulations on passing up the free breakfast. Shows our determined you are this week. Hope you have a really good week of exerciseing. I'm going to try to do some light weights for my upper arms this week.

Rosalie- Wow snow!!! This is all to early.. But I'm going to Denver next week and they have lots of it.... Thats really something on the body fat. That should give good encouragement to stay on SB. I'd be scared to step on that scale. My doctor nicely (ha ha) told me I wasn't obese any more just overweight.......!!!!

Trishaloo- Know about that soggy weather, we've had nothing but it... Oh my goodness your gumbo meal sounds wonderful. I would love to have been at your table...

music teach- Way to start a week off with a 1/2 lb. loss. Its so hard not to let stress affect your eating, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you today.

LKF-WAY TO GO FOR OCTOBER....You sure did well. Thats like a perfect month in my mind.. Heres pulling for you in Nov.......

Jack-K- Hope you have a great week, even though it sounds like you're going to be busy busy.. And get on those salads girl friend. OOOO its getting so close to vacation time for you. I go to Denver on the 12th to the 19th so hopefully we can both do well....

Well I have a busy week going. I'm going to Denver for a week starting on the 12th to surprise my brother for his 50th birthday. So this week I need to get the house cleaned and do my packing. I'm worried about what I'll eat there. Also get a hair cut and permanet tomorrow...... Have a great day....

Toni, thanks so much for the encouragement! You've sure done well -- when did you start SB at that high weight? Gosh, I can hardly wait until I only have 32 more pounds to go! Enjoy those beans and ham hocks...YUM! Good cold weather food!

Well, I was not feeling too well over the weekend due to my throat and vertigo problems, so it was rough out in the middle of Florida camping and we had a lot of work to do as we had to move the camper to higher ground in case the water gets too high next summer. The cold front never happened...If we got a cold front, I couldn't tell. It was quite warm even in Central Florida during the day. At night, it got down to about 60 and the campfire was nice. South Florida is just plain hot, even at night.

I'm still feeling quite dizzy and nauseous today, therefore, I don't think that I will be able to work out until this goes away. Only time and my head rotational exercises can help this go away. I really hate feeling like this.:(

Anyhow, I've read all the posts and would like to say "hello" to everyone:

Bob: It's nice to hear that there is a part of Florida that actually has a change of season and cooler weather. You are very lucky! what is a 7000sf HFS? It sounds like you shopped till you dropped! I love thrift stores...They are a lot of fun!!

Monet: Mono for 3 weeks? Ugh! I thought I had it bad. Glad to hear that you can eat whole foods now. That had to have been pretty awful. It's interesting to hear that your brother in law had the Vertigo "Meniere's Disease". I have the BPPV kind, but it's VERY similar. I have to do head rotational exercises for 15 minutes in the am and pm everyday for the rest of my life in order to not have any symptoms. I also have to take Klonipan (an anti-anxiety) and anti-vert for the nausea depending on how bad the symptoms are. What happened this time is that I thought maybe "the Vertigo" was gone for good, so I stopped doing my exercises for about 4 days and I'm paying for it now. I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN... (I've never heard of Bok Tower near Lake Wales) We camp in an area off of hwy 60 between Yeehaw and Lake Wales in the center of the state. We drive up from Fort Lauderdale so I don't know the central part of Florida very well...
Congratulations on your 12 lb loss!
:)

Jackie: Thank you for your kind, supportive words about my daughter. I hope she grows out of all this! Sorry to hear that someone broke into your work. At least they didn't take anything.
Yes, Florida does have Longhorn Steakhouses. They are THE BEST!! I hope you have a wonderful cruise trip!

Shirley: Thanks for your funny jokes and all the old age quotes.:D

GatorGal: Love your signature cow quote! LOL!

Crystle: Sorry to hear about all the rain you're getting. What part of Texas do you live in? I used to live in Houston for 17 years. Grew up there.

Debbie: VERY sorry to hear that you lost so much stuff on the computer like recipes and SB info! That is very depressing.
The Disney trip sounds like fun. I hope I can go. My Mom will also be racing in the 1/2 marathon at Disney. I am very proud of her. My family calls her "Super Runner". My Mom is 63 years old. 115 lbs, and runs 8 miles everyday. On Saturdays, she runs 21 miles right now because she is in training for the 1/2 marathon.
She wins 1st place for her age group in every 5K race and 1/2 marathon she has raced. She also won 1st place on the 7 mile bridge race in Marathon, FL this year. Her name is Lois Anderson if you ever stay after the races to see the awards being given out.
Or look in the paper for her times. After Disney, she hopes to race in NYC Marathon some year soon....(I e-mailed her your stats on your 4.5 miles at 50:05. That's awesome time! Keep it up, you're doing great! :)

Trish: Austin is beautiful! All those freshwater lakes and "Hill Country" I used to live in Houston and we would go to "New Braunsfels" for the German Fest and ride the river in tubes and go down the chute. Oh what fun we had when we were kids there!!

Tina: Congrats on 1/2 lb loss! I know how you feel about trying to control our emotions from controlling our eating. I am a very emotional eater and sometimes I allow it to get the best of me. Let's try and be strong together. I think I could learn something from a workshop on emotional eating! LOL!

LKF: Awesome news! 8 lbs in one month! Gosh, I wish I could lose that fast. You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

Okay, that's all folks...I guess I better get back to work today. Not getting much done. I'm so dizzy just sitting here at my desk. I can't wait till it goes away...Take care everyone and have a good busting day!

LKF- You are killing me girl! Canada is almost identical to the USA with regards to holidays except we celebrate different Thanksgiving times and there are a few Monarch/President type variations. Let's face it, the USA is our big brother and we are the whimpering younger, smaller, less powerful sibling. Way to go on the 8 lbs for October!

Rosalie- We got snow here on Friday night and it has stayed. Not that much on the ground but it has been so cold that it hasn't had a chance to melt. We are hoping it will though because I agree..it is way too early to have snow now. That would make for a very long winter!

TONI- Thanks. I really needed to get my butt in gear and get exercising again. I am wanting to go back to 5 days a week like I used to. I was losing weight so well without it, I let it slip by. But now I know I have to get motivated to finally get to goal when it is so close.

JACK-K- That 2 lbs will be gone before you know it. I won't even confess how many made their way back onto my scale after this last week!

Oh I have to post what I have because I just wiped out my nice long post. Don't know what I hit.

Gracious, guess we both will have a strict week OP.

LKF, WTG on the 8 lbs. You are where I started at & we are headed to the same place, and hey if I can do this so can you. Hope Nov is just as good if not better. Keep up the good work. We leave Sun morning and get on the boat after 2:00.

Toni, You be careful on that TM and on't overdo. Yes we will both have to try hard on vacation. Have a great time.

Denise, So sorry your vertigo ruined your weekend. I can't imagine how you are functioning, I had it for 1 day and I could hardly lift my head. Fell better soon and keep doing those exercises.

Cherylco, Hopefully all that walking counteracted your chocolate. Just start anew and you will be fine.

Later,

HI Everyone!

My daughter and son in law (the chef) breezed in about an hour ago to do laundry and cook lunch here. He had cod fillets that were given to him at work which he breaded and fried, and made sandwiches. I had already eaten, but tasted the fish. Very yummy.

Shhh! Don't tell my hubby, but after they left, I loaded up the dishwasher and turned it on. I just hate going down to my kitchen, and seeing it such a mess! I swear no one cleans but me!

I took a nap already, so I guess I will plump up the pillows and read a while. Will check in later!

DEB: Do you need a new computer, or can you just reformat your harddrive and reload your programs? That is what my son did for my computer. That will get rid of your viruses, tho it is a pain to have to reload everything on the computer. You do lose all your info, which is frustrating, but you can probably get most of the stuff back..it just takes a bit of time and energy. If you are buying a new one, and want advice, let me know. My son builds computers for people all the time, (he worked as a computer help desk tech for four years before being laid off and is now selling cellphones.)

DENISE: You better do those neck rotation exercises! I am sorry you had to find out the hard way how important they are for you! Hope you are all better soon!

CHERYLCO: I hope all your walking helps keep that sugar indiscretion at bay.... :) Drink plenty of water too!

GRACIOUS: I will check in at LCC. Didn't think they would remember me.

Will check in and post more later! Time to read!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

Weather is SO NICE over here on the WEST COAST OF FLA!!!
No humidity so it's nice and cool out there..
I have the feeling that I'm going to be right along with JACKIE tomorrow when I get on the scales...that Italian food I ate last night has me "all "swolled" up!!! ...I can tell from my rings... :fr: :ink:

Not much news over here...gearing up for the election tomorrow...
WE HAVE TO GET JEB OUT OF OFFICE!!!!

I"ll check in later...

Just checking in...leaving work now. What a day! I'm so glad I can go home and lay in bed now. I'm going to take my antivert and my klonipan as soon as I get there. I just hope traffic isn't too bad.

Thank you Toni and Monet for your get well wishes...Hoping to be better tomorrow!

Gracious and Rosalie: I want some of your snow!!! It's too dang hot and humid on the east coast of Florida...

Cherylco: You probably burned off that candy after walking 3 miles. That's great you are exercising...

Bob: I agree, lets vote Jeb out of office tomorrow!! ;)

Debbie: Oh, my Mom wrote back about your Disney get together trip and this is what she said "Sugar Busters at Disney sounds fun...maybe you can do the marathon with me some year and meet some of your friends from the SB group at the same time. It isn't far off now. I am excited. I ran 23 miles on Saturday...took me five hours, but it was good... no pain and no knee problems. I'll just do two more really really long runs of 25 and 27...and then it is off to Disney! I'm going up to Boca on Sunday to run the PAL Half Marathon as a training run for Disney. I'll be experimenting with new shorts, gel, and just survival techniques!

I watched the hour of the New York Marathon shown on t.v. yesterday. What a thrill to see Marla Runyan come in 5th for women, and she is legally blind! I can't believe all she accomplishes. Guess we shouldn't complain when we have our little problems. What an athlete!

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Hey, where is everyone? The board sure is slow.

I am about to hit the hay... I have a recheck with the doctor tomorrow morning. Since he has a new office, he still doesn't have some basics, like a scale. Too bad, I wanted an official weight to look at.

Anyone got any ideas for really EASY SB legal meals? I need to write up some menus for my hubby and daughter, so we can have something more than scrounge for dinner. My throat is still sore, so not something 'crisp', ok?

Sweet dreams!

Hey All:wave:

Thought I'd get in a post, or at least start one, before I take Michael to his guitar class in a half-hour. Will kill some time after I drop him off at the grocery store and possibly KMart.

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW... Anyone who is interested in coming in in Janaury and wants to make more of a vacation out of this, you are more than welcome to come fly in to Miami or even Ft. Lauderdale and stay at the DETOX DUNGEON and drive up to Orlando with us when we go-open door for anyone who dares, I mean who'd like to:s:

TRISH, OMG, that poor kid driver. Well, that's just another reason I don't think kids should be driving too young. One of Michael's friends had a minor accident the other day, also a new driver. I know one day he'll be driving, but I sure am not going to push the issue. That would be so cool if you could also make it in January. We were posting at the same time, so hopefully, you've seen the info that I put in my last post above. LMK if you need any other info.

MUSIC, CONGRATS on being down another 1/2lb! Hey, the older they get the worse their rooms get, at least in my case, shoes are always missing, so are keys, cordless telephones, the list goes on.....

LKF, you're doing wonderful so far on SB, that's a wonderful loss in a short period of time, keep up the great work!

JACKK, sorry to hear about the self-torture you put yourself through this morning. I think I may inflict the same of me soon, mid-cycle is almost here and I'm feeling bloated somewhat, and I'm sure the scale will show this, BUT, I know that I won't let it get to me too much, just have to be patient and I know the scale will go back down-has to, I haven't done anything "wrong." I'm sure it will go back down for you as well. Yes, those shoes are being broken in for WDW, probably along with another pair as well, just in case. Wish there was some way we could meet up before you go to the ship-if you think of anything, let me know!!!!

TONI, you are doing so well with your exercise, I'm really proud of you, I know what kind of commitment it takes, esp. when you have health issues to deal with as well. Just look how far you've come! I know you'll have a great time in Denver, you'll do just fine, enjoy yourself and the family!

DENISE, sorry to hear your weekend was interrupted by your sore throat and this vertigo. What actually causes this to happen? OMG, I like thrift stores too, esp. when I find something worthwhile. BUT, as of late, I haven't been going to them much, I do much better at the garage sales, it seems. Oh yes, BOB can certainly shop, and so can TRANQUIL. I can't wait to see those 2 in action together! That is so cool that your DM is going to be doing the half marathon in WDW as well, more of a reason to come!!! I can't believe she runs like she does at her age, it's ver inspiring. Trust me, my times are nothing, I'm sure she far surpasses me on timing on her worse days, let's not even mention miles. I don't know how she can run so many miles while we have this heat-it's hard enough for me to get in 4.5 miles. I don't feel I'll be ready for the marathon. I don't plan on running it, walk and jog is about it for me, and walking is definitely in store for up the hills-can't train for hills when we ain't got none, unless you call an overpass over the turnpike a hill! When we went to watch FROG & MR. FROG run the WDWM last year it amazed me to see people of all kinds running, walking, etc. I hope you can come too, that would be awesome. You'll love the gals, I can tell you from experience that they are all wonderful and yes, I can be biased since I've met most of them!:D It sounds like we have quite a bit in common, daughters same age, us about the same age, like thrift stores, probably lots more. Would love to meet you up in Broward for lunch one day if you can, or at least gab on the phone. You can e-mail me your telly if you want # Debelli@AOL.com.

CHERYL, I'm sure that those little bars won't bother you much if you got right back on track. Almond joys are one of the few candys I like, I hate the coconut-yuck! I'm sure the walking helped counteract any gains-don't worry.

MONET, you better be careful or else I'm gonna tellllll..... Our computer is pretty old, well, by computer standards. I think it's about 6 years old, maybe older. I do think we'll be stuck with getting a new one, kids are always complaing about it. We need a new printer too. I just can't imagine losing not only my AOL info, but everything I have stored on the HD, like pics! I'm going to take my time and try to see what would be best, but of course, I'll have to ask someone who knows something about computers, I sure don't know squat. Thanks for the offer of helping possibly answer some questions, will let you know if I have any:) How about the crustless spinach quiche for a meal idea??

Okay, it's almost 11pm and I'm going to bed. I'll check in sometime tomorrow before we head out for the day-ELI is off, need I say more?

HiedieHo All!!

Went to NH this morning armed with Trivia questions. What a fun time we had! One question would stir up lots of conversation and enabled me to ask my own questions as follow-ups. Was able to make up a lot of them pn GWTW. Then went to stor and pharmacy. Made supper, a version of shrimp scampi.

It's still Monday yet here so am submitting this for MM:

Dust if you must but wouldn't it be better To paint a picture or write a letter, Bake a cake or plant a seed.

and

A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee...

You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me, what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied. She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. She then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked. "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity-boiling water-but each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond?_ Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.

When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate to another level?

How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?

Count your blessings, not your problems.

Will "see" you all toorrow. HAve a PW meeting in the afternoon.

Woo Hoo! I only woke up twice last night! Once at 2:30, for water, and once at 5:30 when my hubby gently poked me and asked me to roll over. You know how you can tell you are snoring as you are falling asleep? Well, after I rolled over, I could tell and tried not to. Unless I was dreaming, it sounded pretty bad! ;)
I slept until 7:15, which is great for me!

I have a doctor's appointment this morning. It will be interesting to hear what he says. My throat is much better, but I still have a few areas that are sore and rather painful. I am going armed with a list. Getting this doctor to sit still for a minute is difficult!

Well, guess I will get off and eat some breakfast. Have a great day everyone!

DEB: Looks like Tom and I are going to be Orlando for the get together. Do I need to make reservations? I am sorry about your losing all that data...especially the pictures. Being married to a computer programmer, and having a son who is a tech, they have always drilled into me to do backup. When my harddrive crashed the first time, I lost a lot of my writings, but I had thankfully backed up my pictures. It was accidental back up, but at least it was done. Once you get this mess cleaned up, make sure you do back ups of stuff you don't want to lose. If you buy a new computer, get a CD burner in it. Then you can burn your pictures to a CD and you won't have to worry about losing them again. I am very sorry you have to deal with this kind of a mess. It is frustrating...I have been there twice. If there is anything you need help with, let me know. I can ask my 'boys' for you....

SEF: I enjoyed the carrot, egg and coffee story. Very thought provoking!

Kinda cool again here this morning. The sun's out now but it's supposed to get cloudy.

Well, I am quite proud of myself today. I've been doing pretty good since my Halloween indiscrestions. I went shopping yesterday and picked up cookies and chips for DH and DS and I didn't have any!

I was really hungry last night. Had a yummy dinner of chicken, salad and brussels sprouts ( I can't remember who was discussing the sprouts last week, but I love them! So does my 5 year old!). I was hungry later and had some oat bran stix. They weren't filling me up, so I had an apple. I was STILL hungry. DH says that there's more chips! Rotten guy:devil: He had polished off a family bag already! BUT I resisted:D Instead I had a piece of leftover homemade WW crust pizza.

Today I am rewarded with the scale saying 166!:cb:  Hopefully it will stay down for WIW :s:

SEF--Thanks for the MM. I like to think of myself as the coffee. I usually try to see the best of a situation.

DENISE--WOW! Your mom is amazing! Very inspirational. I'm sorry you weren't well over the weekend. I hope the vertigo is gone quickly. Keep doing those exercises. I noticed we are close in age, have similar stats and chose the same avatar!

MONET--keep resting! I hope your throat feels better real soon. Is there something you like and can be done in a crockpot that the family could do? Or how about some chili?

CHERYLCO--I had TOM too for Halloween. I bet those 3 miles you walked helped to wear off the chocolate.

GRACIOUS--Your snow STAYED??? Yikes! Way to go on the commitment to get back to exercising!

LKF--WTG on the 8lbs gone for the month! You are always so encouraging and supportive to everyone. I am right back on plan and feel GREAT! I just need to get the water drinking up.

TONI48--Hooray for you in doing the TM! You've done amazing with your weight loss.

JACKK--I bet those 2 pounds will come off before the cruise. You've got the right attitude. How awful to find out your work was broken into. At least your office wasn't messed up or it would have taken you longer to get next weeks work done:dizzy:

MUSIC--Congrats on the 1/2 lb. Keep strong, the cheating is not worth it!

DEBELLI--I hope you can retrieve most of what's on your computer. I'd be so lost if I lost all my bookmarks and everything. WTG getting in your run, even in the heat.

Well, I started this long ago, so I'm sure there have been posts since. I'll TRY to catch up later.

Have a GREAT day everyone!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:

Whoa, it is brutal out there! Not only is it hot:flame: out there, but the humidity is at 91%! I got in my 4.5 miles but just walked it, took me 59:17, slow as a turtle. It amazes me how much I sweat after coming in, it's just dripping down me!

ELI is already out, he went to vote. I, on the other hand don't due my duty as a citizen, I've never voted, I think they are all sheisters (bs'ers) and absolutely hate anything that has to do with politics.

Not sure what else is on his agenda today. He has no A/C in his car so that needs to be looked at, esp. with it being so hot. He may have to start looking at cars, his has over 99K miles on it and has been giving trouble recently, but then again, he can't afford any type of car payment either-caught between a rock and a hard place. I say to get it fixed and keep it going. It's been a great car and is in good condition for it's age.

ALEKA posted this as a thread on our boards. I hope those of you who can give her some personal insight about her questions will reply:

Combining WW & SB

I am currently attending WW and am having good results. I understand that some of you have had good luck combining both WOE. I would appreciate any and all advice you can give me. Do I need to buy a good Glycemic (sp?) index book to refer to? What type of foods do you eat so you don't rack up points quickly. It seems to me that all the healthy foods seem to have a high point value. I had been following Suzanne Somers WOE, but got tired of food combining. When I started WW I was like a "kid in a candy store" with all the carbs and processed food I could have. I want to get back to a healthier way of eating, and I remembered at one time my Dr. suggested that I look into SB. Thank you for your help.

Aleka
*****

ALEKA, as I told you, I think if you have the WW tools that combining the two is a great idea, as it surely can't hurt. You don't need to get a GI index book, there's a ton of info on the web. Just remember, the GI index is a tool but it's not the only factor when following SB. I'd suggest you get the SB BOOK at the library, along with Michael Montignac's book EAT YOURSELF SLIM and read those to give you more insight. Also, a great site on the web that gives a good overview of SB is at http://www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters Let us know if you have any other questions, we'll be more than happy to throw in our 2 cents when we can:D

We also have a thread from BABYBOO that I have copied below as well:

help me please
how does this diet work? can anyone help either respond here or email me here cute_butt_evil@yahoo.com
thanks one more thing how is it working for you?
*********

BABYBOO, as I mentioned to ALEKA above, check out the website I posted the link for, it gives a good overview of SB. As for how it's working for me...it's the only thing that has ever worked for me, at least to date, not even surgery did it. I've been at my goal weight for almost 1 1/2 years now. This is by far the easiest WOE I have ever done, not to mention, the healthiest. If you want to follow a WOE that you can do indefinitely and make it a true WOL, this is it. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

SEF, I now understand what you meant about the ring. I didn't mean to keep it big because I thought I'd gain a lot of weight, but figured, with age, I'll probably be packing on a few extra pounds as I keep heading down the dreaded hill. I can tell you I'm glad I didn't get it any smaller, boy, when I retain water, it fits mighty fine! Loved the MM posts you did, esp. the second one with the coffee. I sent it to ELI'S e-mail so he could read it and pass it along to others at SB.

MONET, glad to hear you slept better last night, I didn't, had weird dreams that kept me tossing and turning. Good luck at the Dr. today, let us know what he says. I'm thrilled that you will be coming to Orlando. Between BOB & I we'll get an idea of how many rooms we need and get on the phone with the RIU and get some info so we can all get rooms near each other. I'll keep you abreast of all the info as it becomes available! Backup! I wouldn't know even how to back anything up:shrug: I tried to copy my AOL files to disk and it said it was too big, to get a bigger disk! I'm so computer stupid!

ZANNE, I hope I can retrieve what's left of my stuff. Who knows, I'm don't even know how to try at this point. Will have to call a friend who's husband knows a bit about computers, problem is, he works full time and it can take weeks for him to come over. Is Halloween a big deal in Canada as it is here in the States?

Okay, the old bugger just came home and said he's taking his car in to the mechanic to be checked. I have to go jump in the shower and get ready.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST I'm hoping Michael won't be hogging the computer!!!!

Remember, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!:fr: I wish us all luck with the metal monster tomorrow!!!!

Will check in later!!

Zanne, congratulations on the weight loss! Way to go!!! See, resisting all those chips paid off...doesn't it feel good when you are rewarded for good behavior! Thanks for your encouraging words about my October weight loss. I am pleased, too, and enjoying the SB program more all the time! I feel so good! To feel this good and be losing weight is such a HUGE deal to me!

Jack-K, only a few more days and you'll be on that ship! I know you can't wait and I hope that helps the week to fly!

Monet, I think you asked for some help with easy SB-legal meals for hubby to fix while you are recuperating, right? Well, here are a few I enjoy: Have him boil a couple of eggs each and have them with some canned spinach and a can of black-eyed peas -- one of my favorite dishes! And so easy. Another idea is to have him stop by WalMart and pick up one of those whole rotissed chickens to have with a salad and a piece of toast. They are so good and here, only cost around $4.00 for the whole chicken! And how about taking a ww tortilla, spread some fat-free refried beans on it, then embed some fresh broccoli all over the beans, then cover it all with shredded cheese! It's a great combination and the fresh broccoli gives such a great crunch to each bite!

Halloween is BIG here too! The couple of weeks before, they were showing in the news different houses that got REALLY into it. Some people it took 2 weeks to put it all together. The kids have a blast going trick or treating.

Like GRACIOUS said, we celebrate pretty much everything the US does. We just have different names for some holidays. Like this month, the 11th we call Remembrance day, you call it Veterans day. July 1st we celebrate Canada Day and July 4th you celebrate Independence day. Our Thanksgiving is celebrated a month earlier than yours, but the type of food prepared is basically the same.

I think it's great that we can learn about each other here. Asking questions is the only way to find out the answers.

Good luck with the computer.

Good morning!

Hi Everybody!

Thought I'd sneak in here to say hello. My weight is down about 1/2 pound, however, I haven't been drinking water like I should. I would probably be down even more if I were being faithful with the water. I'd better get busy with that.

I can't stay long as I have to get my 17 y/o DS to the hospital in about an hour. He has surgery today for a pinched nerve in his elbow. Wish I had a computer at the hospital to pass the time while I'm waiting.

I will check back later today. I also plan to vote. Sorry BOB, but I have to cancel out your vote. I hope we keep JEB in office. At least we can agree that SB is a great WOE!

Catch ya'll later.

I have a question about CHEERIOS

The ingredients include: whole grain oats, modified corn starch, wheat starch, sugar, salt, ...etc.

Now the sugars are only 1.4g per serving. ARE CHEERIOS LEGAL??? They fall under the 3g rule of thumb.

Can I please get opinions on this? I am wanting to make some CHEX type mix and am looking for legal cereals and things to use.

SERENE--sending good thoughts your way that your son will have a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

Happy Tuesday

I did my post and hit the submit button and my DSL line was dead. Urghhhh.

Nothing going on here. It is slower today so I am thinking about food. Yesterday was so busy I never even got to eat my snack. I like those kinds of days.

I read something I thought was interesting in Health Mag. It said a study found that exercising 3 times a week had rhe same benefits that Paxil has. I don't take it, but thought it was interesting. I'm always looking for alternatives to meds.

Denise, Hope you are better today. I agree that Marla Runyan is quite the achiever. It just shows what you can do it you put your mind to it.

Toni, I plan to totally eat OP on the cruise. I'm sure the bread won't be 100% ww, but should I have any, then I will just count it as my carbs and go on. As long as I stick to 2 a day I should be fine. Now the drinks are another story.

Monet, how about a sweet potato, some rice, spaghetti?Chicken enchilladas or burritos. Feel better.

Deb, I don't see any way to meet up on the way down. We land in Ft. L at 1:45 and th ship boards starting at 2:00 so I'm sure we will be in a rush. I don't know what time we arrive back on Sunday in relation to the time the flight leaves. If we can back early I could call you. email me your cell #.

Sef, Thanks, makes you think. :flow1:

Zanne, Yeah for you on the new number onthe scale :cp:. Keep up the good work. Tell DH to get back to policing. Cheerios in the yellow box are legal.

Deb, Let's trade weather. It's 40 here. I'm cold. I need to move to Fla. Good for you getting out there in that heat. I voted, but I share your opinion of politics. Half of the people, I have never heard of anyway. I just hate all smear tactics and listening to all the adds forever and ever. Glad it is over today. Have a good day with Eli.

LKF, OK now I'm hungry. Think I'll steal some of those ideas. Yummy. :cbg:

Serene, Hope your DS's surgery goes ok. Keep drinking. Takes some snacks to the hospital with you.

Better post this quick. Be back later.

Good morning guys.

The sun is shining finally!!!!

I am so glad election day is finally here. This has been one of the most negative campaigns in our area that I have ever seen, from the governors race down to the local level. I did early voting and from the looks of things they are expecting a record turn-out. Deb, I agree with you that most are worthless, but I always vote just so I can legitimately gripe about the results.

Well, hubby thinks I can't afford to come to Orlando, but I'm still working on him. I think he just doesn't understand the whole concept of meeting a bunch of people that I've met on a message board. We all know how great we all are but to an outsider, sometimes it sounds weird. Deb, I may have to get you to call and talk him into it.

Gotta run now. I've got a seminar today and tomorrow, which means banquet food for lunch, yikes, wish me luck. I am going to Curves tonight though and will probably end up walking with my friend too. We haven't walked in several days due to the weather.

See ya.

Hi all!

My vertigo is subsiding. Not as severe as the past few days, therefore I am seeing some relief. I took Klonipan and my anti-vert and stayed in bed last night. With my sore throat and all, I felt sorry for myself about 10 p.m. and broke down and had a SF SB icecream shake. A little too late to be eating that!

Toni: Just wanted to clarify that my mom is the "Super Runner". NOT me. She is 63 years old and weighs 115 lbs. I used to run the 5K's with her in South Florida, but the heat and getting up at the crack of dawn...I haven't been to one in awhile. I used to run a 5K between 30 minutes (my best time) to 36 minutes. My mom runs 5K's in about 26 or 27 minutes and always wins first place in her age group. It was always humiliating when she would pass me when we ran together. LOL!

Monet: Glad you are sleeping better. Easy SB legal menus:

Texas Slop: Brown 1 lb of lean ground beef, drain. Boil 2 cups of SGWW "Bionature" pasta for 7-8 minutes al dente, drain. Put the ground beef and pasta in one big pot and add 2 cans of Hunts diced tomatoes. Cheap, easy and very yummy on cold days...

Chicken/Cheese Quesdilla:
On a flat griddle on medium heat, place 1 SGWW tortilla on and warm both sides. On one side of the tortilla, sprinkle shredded cheese, add a little cream cheese, add some strips fo the Louis Rich Shredded/Stripped (pre-cooked) chicken on one side and top off with some salsa. Turn the tortilla over to cover and seal. Keep flipping both sides till cheese has melted. Easy and Very yummy!

Debbie: I don't know how my mom does it either. It's just way too hot for me to do this right now. I am working on the treadmill now until the weather gets cooler. I try and do 3 min walking and 3 min running, 3 and 3 for awhile. I give you and my mom a lot of credit running in the heat. I would like you to meet my mom someday, that would be cool.

Disney trip sounds like fun and I know my mom would really love it if I came to watch you and her run it. Maybe I could drive up with you and some other people. I don't know how many of you are driving up. Would I need to take off work on that Friday? and if so, what time Friday would we leave? Also, do I need to make my own reservations or is one person making the reservations and then we share the cost of the room? I could take off that Friday. therefore count me in for staying in a room on Fri and Sat. Maybe we could split the gas money too if we car pool! I don't know the Disney area too well and I really don't want to drive up alone. I will e-mail you with my phone numbers. I look forward to hearing from you and getting these plans underway. I am very excited! Are you kids going too?

Shirley: I LOVE the motivational quotes and the carrot, egg and coffee story! I think sometimes I'm the egg with the hardened shell as when you go through so many adversities in your life it's hard not to become hardened somewhat..I am working on being the coffee and trying to change things as adversities arise.

Suzanne: I do believe that the Whole Wheat Cheerios are acceptable. Not the regular ones. The sugar content seems okay. Congrats getting down to 166. It's funny we both chose the same avatar, close in age, and same stats. I've been stalled going on about 6 weeks now! But I've been doing a lot of weight lifting. Thanks for always sharing your information about Canada. I was always curious about that stuff and I learn more everyday about your country. I've always wanted to visit Canada and go exploring in the wilderness...

Aleka: It's a great idea to combine WW with SB. Fruits and vegetables are very low points and very low GI. Just stay away from bananas, pineapples, raisans, beets, potatoes, corn and all corn products. Everything else should be low fat. i.e. low fat cheese, lean meats etc. and the points should not be too high.

Serene: Congrats on 1/2 loss! Hope your son's surgery turns out real well and that he is feeling better soon.

Jackie: I looked up my BMI on that site and it shows "27"! My scale at home fluctuates from 36-34. That's a big difference. I wonder if my scale is really that accurate.

I voted today in Florida. Plant trees, NO BUSHES!!!

Hope everyone is doing fine. Talk to you soon!

Don't worry Bob. Some it is water weight and you can work it off in a day or two.

Here's a funny one:

To Be Six Again

A man asked his wife what she'd like for her birthday. "I'd love to be six
again," she replied.

On the morning of her birthday, he got her up bright and early and off they went to a local theme park. What a day!

He put her on every ride in the park: the Death Slide, the Screaming Loop, the Wall of Fear, everything there was!

Wow! Five hours later she staggered out of the theme park, her head reeling and her stomach upside down.

Right to a McDonald's they went, where her husband ordered her a Big Mac along with extra fries and a refreshing chocolate shake.

Then it was off to a movie -- the latest epic, and hot dogs, popcorn, Pepsi Cola and M&Ms.

What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed.

He leaned over and lovingly asked, "Well, dear, what was it like being six again?"

One eye opened. "You idiot, I meant my dress size."

The moral of this story:
Even when a man is listening, he's still gonna get it wrong.

JACKK--Thanks about the cheerios. They're on sale this week! Gonna go get some. DH is gonna get a kick from me!

DENISE--Glad you're feeling better. I like seeing what kind of food products you guys have. We don't get the same stuff. I had some of the Deli rye triscuits a couple of years ago and love them. We can't get them here, but funny thing is, the box says they're made in Canada!!! I've been out of province only a few times, but totally out of the country at least a half dozen times. Kinda sad, but it's usually cheaper to fly to an all inclusive somewhere for a week than it is just for airfare within Canada. Someday I'd like to go visit Vancouver--and then continue on to Hawaii! Your recipes sound good and easy.

BOB--Keep drinking that water to flush everything out!

HiedieHo All!!

We may just float away today! Really raining heavt and winds gusting. Constant tornado watches and warnings throughout the area. Arthur doesn't like it!

A good day for soup. Have a turkey carcass simmeering. Will divide it and add brown rice for me, noodles for kids. They aren't fond of turkey rice soup. Rather have noodles. Of course I could save a pot and make ww noodles. Hmmmmmmm, will have to decide.

MONET: Glad you had a better night's sleep. Hope you can pin the doctor in his chair to list. Wise to make a list, so easy to forget questions once you get in the office.

ZANNE: I think we all would like to be the coffee. I know I have to be strong to get through the problems I have faced, although I don't really feel strong at the time, just doing what has to be done.

DEB: It must be the season for computers foul-ups! We have no sound, the scanner isn't taking to us, and it is slow, and we get kicked off.......otherwise it works fine! I love reading the MMs.

LKF: Are those eggs soft or hard boiled? Never thought of refried beans and broccoli!

DENISE: Remember we all are a work in progress, we all keep changing in some way. It's up to us how we change and do it.

Well have to get ready for the PW meeting, at this point would rather stay home. One rainy days like this I like to curl up with a book and cuppa.

Will try to get into chat tonight, I wasn't successful before.

Well is chat on tonight? I am looking forward to it....

I am down to 241, and PROUD of it! hahahaha!!!! I have been eating legal foods - of course, with stress, stress and more stress that I of course bring on myself - I want to cheat, cheat and cheat myself - but have not with the help of my friend Serene!

I have been baking apples and eating them with some no sugar added Breyers Vanilla Ice Cream - yummy!!!!!!

Monet - Get better so you have some energy and good times in Orlando in January!!!!!! And, don't do the dishes!

Sef - That turkey soup sounds rather delicious to me! Perfect for this cooler weather we have had - though today is back up into the high 80s....

BOB at Work :) That swelling will pass!

All the new names in such a short period of my absence!!! Welcome to all the new people...hope you are enjoying this way of eating!!!

Trish - I see you are enjoying Curves - that is great - how do you feel? You can afford WDW!!!!! Come on down!!!!!

JackK - I hope you have a fantastic time on your cruise!!!! Enjoy it to the fullest!!!!!!

Zanne - Congrats on your weight - along with I am another Brussel Sprout lover - I like to steam them until they are mushy....and I can just eat them alone for a meal as well.

Serene - Hope the surgery goes well, and when he wakes up he is all doped up and as meek as a lamb! hahahaha

Deb - I feel for you and that heat and humidity - sorry we are hogging it all the coolness up in Jax - but soon we will get tired of it and send it your way :)

Well I must get back to work before boss is back in office !!!

sef, I saw you talking about putting noodles in the soup for the kids but rice for yourself and wanted to remind you that the 100% duram wheat semolina noodles are everywhere in the markets these days and actually MORE tasty than regular pasta your kids are used to! Then you wouldn't be preparing two kinds of soup...and FORGET that nasty ww pasta -- I tried that stuff and couldn't stomach it! Jack-K was the one who told me about the semolina and I have a pantry full of it now!

And sef, to answer your question about the eggs I prepare to eat with spinach and black-eyed peas, they are hard boiled...that's just the way I learned to eat them with this dish so that gotta be hard boiled! Ha!

Sabrina, congratulations on the weight loss!!! We are all proud of you!

Jack-K, I found your go-ahead on the Cheerios a little confusing. I've been looking at the ingredients on all the boxed cereals and putting them back on the shelf when I read any of the sugars are in the ingredients. I know the 3-gram rule but thought it best to avoid sugar at every turn when at all possible. The only cereals I've been eating are Uncle Sam, Shredded Wheat, and Kashi. I love Cheerios but thought they had too much sugar-related stuff in them. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

UGH! I drank way, way too much alcohol Sat night and then got the munchies and pigged out! Then yesterday, I did good until about 10 pm and ate several pieces of the kid's Halloween candy. I don't know what has gotten into me! I feel so ashamed and mad at myself. I'm all puffy and bloated today- too scared to step on the scales! I'm trying my best to stay legal today and drink lots of water. Whether it's bad or not, I'll report my weight tomorrow.

Jack-K - Thanks for that site for the BMI. It gave me a figure of 32 which is better than my ds's scale which made me 41, and better even than the site I checked yesterday which gave me a figure of 38. I'm getting leaner all the time!!!!!!!!!! It certainly makes me feel better to see that figure coming down. Enjoy your holiday.

Well, I did it! I made myself an alternate snack. I love salty snacks and was getting bored of the oat bran stix alone. So I mixed up a SB legal (at least I hope it is) cereal snack. Cheerios, Spoon sized Shredded Wheat and Bran, brown rice crackers, almonds and some oat bran stix. Poured the CHEX mix "sauce" over them and they're in the oven drying out now. I think this will be good. I'll feel good about giving it to DS as a snack too (instead of chips). Unfortunately I can't give it to him for school cause of the almonds (the school is "nut free" cause of allergies).

HEARTMOM--The past is in the past and it sounds like you got right back on track! We all slip up once in a while.

Just checking in:D :smug:

Getting ready to head home to fix some parmesan chicken. I'm taking some ww breadsticks (the cracker kind), crunching them up and mixing with parm cheese and baking. Something different anyway. Add some veggies and Viola!

Hope to make it to chat tonite if DD isn't on the computer.

Trish, Had to laugh about your DH idea of our little group. My DD has the same idea. She is always saying she can't believe I go into a chat room and that SB people actually call on the phone. She keeps saying these are people on the internet, you don't know who you are really talking too. They just don't understand. Plus I don't think imposters would go through all this dieting and other stuff too. Make some good choices for lunch.

Denise, Glad you are feeling better today. I guess each day it will get better. I have to get down to 145 before the bmi comes up normal.

Bob, The 1.5 gain is probabl because Italian food is so heavy. Give it a day or two and it will be back to normal.

Sef, my friend made turkey soup with ww noodles and you couldn't tell the difference. It was delish!

Tranquil, I just baked an apple for lunch. I little cinnamon, splenda and a dab of water. Yum. I'm so glad Serene has been keeping you legal. Yeah on 241  Keep up the good work. Hope to see you at chat tonite.

LKF, I don't kknow about the Cheerios, I think they are in the book or someone has said it before. I usually just eat oatmeal, don't like any of the others.

Heartmom, Shake yourself off and start over. That alcohol can be the  Believe me I know. I was up 2 lbs b/c of it.

Rosalie, glad that site gave you a better BMI. I still have to get to goal to be normal.

Zanne, I always get eaxcited when I make a SB recipe that turns out good. It really makes you feel less deprived. May saying is "Where's there a will, there's a SB way!"

Good luck on the scale tomorrow everyone!:)

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

BOB just got home from PLANTING A TREE ALSO....LET'S SEE...I BELIEVE IT'S FROM THE MCBRIDE VARIETY!!! ;) Hope it grows!

JACKIE!!!!! Your boat will be in port the last morning before 7a.m.
Your meeting up with Debbie will depend on the plane departure.
Usually anywhere from 11a.m. on! When I lived in KY, the cruises that I went on, we had a really laid back breakfast, then took our time getting off the boat. No use in sitting in the airport all that time. If you can meet her...DO IT!!! You won't be sorry....Maybe she'll bring SASQUATCH with her
Are you going to ST THOMAS??? If so...save all your money to use there...It's the most WONDERFUL PLACE ON EARTH TO SHOP..
there is a mall at the port, but go into town...no matter where you go, if you buy perfume, make sure it's scents that are made out of the country (USA)...that's where the bargains are...Go to BOLERO if you're in the market for Llardro...J H REISS for EVERYTHING...I love that store..pick up some ORBIT watches..they are a steal for around $10 and last for years!
check the side streets for linens...main street for gold...such a bargain...I bought some emeralds at COLUMBAIN...two rings and some ear-rings...
DON'T LISTEN TO THE CRUISE DIRECTOR ON WHERE TO SHOP...THEY GET A CUT OF THE MONEY SPENT IN THOSE STORES... If your boat will let you buy liquor on the boat and take it to your room, that will be cheaper than buying in the bars...You'll be signing for everything and believe me, when that bill is slipped under your door on the last morning, it will wake you up in a hurry :fr: Let me know where you're going...I don't know anything about the eastern side, but I'm a pro cruiser on the western side...!!!!

TRISH...I need all the help I can muster for Saturdays game! If the VOLS play like they did last week, they just might do it!

MONET....let us know what the DR said..glad you continue to improve!

I got to WEIGHT WATCHER'S, but I don't use the point system or their plan...I only go because I have to get on the scales in front of someone..It's definately dooable though.. ;)

Hope I can get to chat...I'll talk to everyone later...

For dinner I took a can of Goya Black Bean soup and cooked it with chopped up Louis Rich Turkey Sausage - and shared it with my son. So, nice protein and healthy dinner.....

Our weather is so muggy - though it will cool off some again.

Jack K - Thanks for the little happy dance. I was stunned by the scale, could not believe it, but it has been sticking to the weight so I have to believe it :) You get to eat all that wonderful seafood - well I would on a cruise - all the crab legs and shrimp I could fit into my tummy! hahaha

Toni - Sorry you lost your post!!!!

Bob - See ya on chat you Democrat you!!!!!

LKF - Thanks for being so upbeat and positive - such a good support! :) How are you doing on this woe now? I have missed a lot in the past few weeks....

Well I have to get going so I can get things done before time to chat. Have to clean kitchen and some other things...yuchy poohey! Meanwhile, Serene is my new doggie caregiver, so because we were both so busy late this afternoon she has my hound sleeping over her place! What a friend!!! Good evening everyone!

I had my doctors appointment. He looked at my throat and said it looks much better. I already knew that! ;) He checked my spleen and did not feel like it was enlarged, tho it has ached all afternoon since then. He was unrelenting about the six weeks, said he wants to see me again in two weeks. He was concerned because my glands are still very swollen. So, I just continue on with what I have been doing. I am expecting to feel worse tomorrow, because I went out to the doctor, then to vote. It is rainy and cold, not a good day to be out when sick. I did come home and crawl right in bed and nap and read.

My daughter is fixing spaghetti for dinner. Yum!

Thanks for the ideas of easy meals. I will pass them on to the two cooks.

I am hoping to make it to chat tonight.....so later!

This is one day late for MMonday, but hopefully it will do for Tuesday Tips.
An article in the Fall 2002 issue of Eating Well magazine is all about sugar, and possible addition to that drug. Here is an excerpt from the 8 page article.
*****
Late one night in 1999 in a research lab on the campus of Princeton University, a student saw something that casts a new light on sugar cravings.

Neuroscientist Bart Hoebel had been studying animals under the influence for years. For a month, the psychology professor and his research team fed rats a regular chow and a sugar solution, comparable to the sweetness of fruit canned in heavy syrup. As the researchers expected, the rats preferred the sugar water to the regular chow. But when a drug was used to block the effects of the sugar in the rats’ brains, the results astounded the researchers.

Carlo Colantuoni, now at Johns Hopkins University, but then an udergruduate working with the team, routinely entered the animal lab late in the evening to feed the rats or study their behavior. On each visit, his arrival elicited a response like a jingling Pavlovian bell. “They would hear me open the door and immediately get excited. Some were so excited that they would rip apart the sipper bottles filled with a 25% glucose solution.” After a month, the rats predictably went into a feeding frenzy when the sugar solution was refilled, consuming twince the amount they had at the beginning of the test.

On this particular night, Colantuoni and another student had arraived to observe the rats’ reactions after the drug had been administered to block the effects of sugar in their brains. Conantuoni found the rats in an unusually agitated state, with their heads shaking, their teeth chattering and their forepaws quivering with tremors, in essence showing the telltale signs of withdrawal. Hoebel and his group had seen similar reactions in rats addictred to morphine and cocaine, but it was an unexpected moment in their experiments with sugar.

For close to 25 years, researchers have known that the human attraction to sugar and addiction to drugs occur in the same pathways of the brain. But the Princeton research now suggests that our attraction to sweeteners may have the potential to extend beyond a simple yearning into the realm of chelmical dependence. As sugar consumption rises at an alarming rate, wreaking havoc with the nation’s health, the question of culpability looms. Does overeating sugar constitute a mere failure of willpower or can sugar’s sweet lure actually “hook” us?
******

Sorry I'm so late getting on the board this week. I have been absolutely snowed under with stuff. Even tody I didn't get home until 4:30, just dead tired. I had a flat tire right in the middle of traffic on a very busy street and so was running over an hour late all day because of that.

Denise--Welcome to the SB board. Hope you enjoy all the help and encouragement you will find here.

Debbie and all those coming to Orlando--You may already have plans for Saturday, but if you are interested I'd be very happy to host lunch here at my home right off I-4 and not far from Winter Park. Deb, you and BOB know where I live.

I agree with Deb and the other FLA gals, it is still H-O-T here. It was up to 90 today and we have just closed all our windows and turned the AC back on. I think it is the humidity that is making it seem so hot. My DH and I just got back from a walk around the neighborhood (1.5 miles) and it was muggy out there.

Fillise--I'll be thinking about you and the Tigers in 1.5 weeks. Hope you have a good day that Saturday. :)

Monet--Get well! I had mono years ago and remember that sore throat.

Well, I'm gonna close and go back and read all the posts.

Anybody remember me???? I'm still here... one of your occasional lurkers. I thought I'd drop into chat tonight but whoops! no chat!

I'm still living a sugar free WOL , with some lapses ( darn that whole free day concept in Body for Life really messed me up), but mostly doing a bodybuilder's diet and training. LOTS of really lean protein and low GI carbs.

I was supposed to be one of the Orlando 1/2 marathoners but messed up my knee running about 2 months ago. I've just started back into roadwork after doing a lot of recumbent bike, then treadmill, but I sure don't think I'll be ready for WDW by January. My knee makes some funny klicking sounds :( and probably wouldn't make 13 plus miles. I sure would have loved to be there tho- I know a lot of you don't know me, but I do follow the trials and tribulations and successes of you all.

Anyway, just wanted to say "hi".

BTW, those Tanita body fat scale measurements are a crock! Notoriously innacurrate. Use a 7 or 9 site skinfold caliper pinch to get accurate readings.

HiedieHo All!!

My! My! How did the Board get so active all of a sudden?

In the afternoon the day brightened a little. The turkey soup was good, decided to use the noodles. It wasn't a cold day, but the dreariness made me think we needed a comfort food!

TRANQUIL: Apples and ice cream, does sound yummy! You're right to be proud.

DENISE: Couldn't get into chat either! I was lucky enough to go to HI twice as my DD lived there. It was wonderful!

LKF: I forget to look for the duram noodles, am so used to getting the ww. I only made the one soup using the ww noodles this time and son said the ww were okay. I should put the other noodles on my list to remind me. I'm at that age you know! Things slip my mind!Have you ever tried putting chopped eggs and cooked bacon in your drained spinach? Yummy. My DIL likes me to just put in sauteed chopped onion. Just another thought for variation. I have a biowl of Cheerios once in a while as a treat, cause like you I think there's too much stuff in them, I love Kashi. It's very good with some cottage cheese mixed with a spoonful of SF jelly, then sprinkle your Kashi on top. Tasty!

HEART: That's all we can do, pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and start all over again! Does that sound like a song? You bet!

ZANNE: Snack sounds good to me. Did it taste as good as you hoped?

JACKK: Made that chicken last week and we all liked it.

MONET: Altho you are recovering, you're not there yet! So continue do rest. Your outing confirmed to you that you are still struggling! Sending good thoughts your way!

Think I will read a while, was stitching but hands bothered me too much, especially that left wrist!

Take care. Goodnight

GoooooD Wednesday Morning!

Well, the scale stayed down this morning at 166 :D so I changed my sig to make it official!:cb:

We had rain last night, then snow, then rain! Today is supposed to be mid 40'sF and tomorrow around freezing! This weekend is supposed to go up around 50F +/- a degree or two. WEIRD! Supposed to be cold with the wind this morning. The joys of living where there's (supposed to be) 4 seasons.

SEF--The snacks were good, cept the shredded wheat seemed a bit, hmmm, "heavy". I'm not sure if that's the right word, but I don't think I'd add them next time. I'd probably put in more almonds instead. I actually didn't eat that much of the snack last night! I was tasting little bits as it was drying out in the oven and that's all I wanted.

Ok, gotta go get the munchkin ready for school.

Bye for now.

Wow, I am catching up like crazy cuz I was out all day Tuesday shopping. I am proud to announce that I have all of my Christmas shopping done!

MONET- Glad to hear things are *officially* getting better for you healthwise. I wish I had a chef to come by and make me my meals!

ZANNE- You are grooving girl...here is my favourite grooving banana to dance for you! :cb: :cb:
Our snow is not only staying, it is getting deeper! We have a few inches on the ground and it is fantastic packing snow so the kids are loving it. Making snowmen and huge snowballs and of course snowangels. Funny, the kids love it but I dread it!

JACK-K- Yes, it is going to be a good week for me, I already determined it. I have lost half of what I gained from my indiscretions last week and I have been enjoying my food. I added back in my veggies so I am taking a break from my no carb routine and it is working.

Happy WIW Gang

Hope the scale is good to everyone today. For me it was still up those 2 pounds. I'm not even going to try to make an eaxcuse. Just live with it.

Not only could I not get into chat last night, I couldn't find how to get into it. The little chat word at the top of the screen was gone. How did you all attempt to get in??

Bob, We are going to St Thomas, St Johns/St Martin, San Juan and Bahamas. Are you saying scents made in the USA or out of it? I am taking a bottle (plastic) in my suitcase. I hear they check your carry-on so I figured it was safer in my suitcase.

Toni, Frustrating isn't it?

Cherylco, I think the secret to this WOE is being prepared. I plan all my meals the day before. I have to. The girls at work are teasing my about taking a box of Triscuits in my suitcase on our cruise. I just might do that.

Tranquil, the only seafood I like is white fish. But this just might be the chance to broaden my horizons.

Monet, Glad you are some better. Keep resting.

Gator, very interesting article. I think sugar is very addicting. Bummer on th flat tire. I hate those. Hope yu had road service and didn't have to fool with it yourself.

Zanne, Good for you girl, Take care of yourself. And first or course! Yeah for you on the 166

Meliris, So good to hear from you. Glad you are still with us eating and reading. You are doing great. Post again soon.

Sef, Glad your soup turned out good. Have a great day.

Gracious, YOU'RE DONE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING?????? yOU ARE ONE CRAZY WOMAN. I haven't even thought about Christmas much less buy a gift. Glad adding back your carbs are working. Keep up the good work.

Fruite, If youa re around, I hope you all take it easy on the CATS this weekend. Aren't you all w/o a couple key players? Just maybe.......

Good luck today.

A decent WIW today. That 1/2 lb is still gone so I guess that's official at 153.5.:) Got a call just as I was about to leave this morning that a friend's house burned this morning. Total loss. I had a couple of stacks of clothes that I was passing down for her kids to wear so I grabbed them and headed out. Another teacher and I drove over before class and saw it. It is soooo sad. Her daughter is in class with James and came on to school. She wanted her to have a somewhat normal day. They already have a house to move into and a couple of the teachers are taking off to clean it. We live in a small community that's pretty tight. Both of them work for the school-she teaches and he's the basketball coach-so they will have lots of support.

Hope you all have a great day today. It's been kind of a down way to start the day, but I won't let it affect my eating. Check in later.

Husbands are strange creatures.
While the might say they are supportive of your weight loss, but the small child that really rules their brain is considering that if you lose weight things will change. And children don't like change. :)
My husband is the LAST person I would ask to police my eating habits because his motto is "What could it hurt this one time?

Congratulations on avoiding that pitfall and getting to 166!!

Jack-K
Take the Triscuits on the cruise!! I couldn't live without mine. Whenever I'm in a munchie mood I eat Triscuits and Port-wine cheese. Does the trick for me.

Well I'm down another pound this week!
205 this morning.
I cannot wait to be in the 190's. I haven't been under 200 in over 3 years!

Good Weigh In Wednesday Morning!

Whoa, is it hot out there again today! Was going to take the day off from my usual walk/jog but decided to just do a walk with my Powerbelt and not over exert myself, took me long today, 1hr 1 min and 17 seconds! Better than nothing though. Looking forward to jogging tomorrow, we're supposed to finally get a bit of cooler weather. Sometimes I don't know whether to believe the weather report or not, seems when they say we're getting cooler weather we don't, or if I blink, I miss it! Today it's suppose to be a record high, may hit 90-doesn't that all out suck!

Sorry about chat last night. I totally forgot that they had said that they were changing to another chat format, which I guess hasn't taken place and the old one is out. There's not even a link to the old chat board any more. I will e-mail SUZANNE and ask her what's going to be with the chat so we know before next week.

ELI and I went to see REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES I really didn't know what to expect as they had compared it somewhat to GREEK WEDDING. It wasn't funny as GW is, but I think the comparison was with family. It wasn't bad, just different. The mother in the movie, OMG, she reminded me of my Grandmother, commented on EVERYONE'S weight-they must of used my GM as a consulter for the movie!

Today he's off once again, yes, you read it right, two days in a row! We are trying to plan a day with his DD Denise and the two older people that are his customers from the old store, Minnie and Morris. He wants to go to Carrabas for dinner. Not sure how I feel about that today, guess I can see just how strict I can be when I want to! With 2 1/2 weeks of being stellar in my eating, I'm afraid to do anything but stay OP since it's so hard for me to get back on track if I do cheat-guess we'll see, won't we!

Well, WIW isn't good or bad, it's the same as last week, sitting at 126. Since tomorrow is mid-cycle for me, I'm hoping that I'll have a loss afterwards. Who knows, I'm just happy I don't see any gains!

The WEEKEND IN ORLANDO IN JANAURY looks like we'll have a nice crowd coming. I think we have 10-11 positives so far, and I'm hoping that number will grow. Anyone have any good ideas for Friday night-whether you are coming or not, if you have any ideas, please e-mail them to me. I have some but would welcome more!!!:D

Boy, you gals were sure as heck busy on the board when I was gone yesterday, lots of catching up to do, which I better get going on before I have to get in the shower...

ZANNE, CONGRATS on securing that pound loss! They now say that Halloween is the second biggest holiday in the US-can't imagine that, but that's what "they" say. I too like learning about other cultures/celebrations that happen elsewhere. I have a friend in the UK and she would talk about Boxing Day each year. I never asked her about it, just assumed they were really in to boxing over there and celebrated a day for boxers. Finally, I asked her "what exactly do you do on boxing day?" Well, boy, did I feel stupid AND wrong to find out it had nothing to do with boxing or boxers as I thought it to be, but was a celebration to do with giving! About CHEERIOS, I think it's the whole grain ones they say are okay, but why they are okay, I don't know. I surely won't eat them. Remember, there's quite a few things that are contridictory in the SB book, and I think this may be one of them. BUT, if it's falls under the 3 gram rule, well, then I guess they'd be okay-but I look farther in to things, as the ingredients, and if it has things non-SB LEGAL, then I tend to stay away from it, even if it's okay as far as the sugar goes. I'm sure it won't kill you though if you had some in moderation.

SERENE, glad to see you were down a pound yesterday! CONGRATS! Girl, if anyone can tell you, I can, the water, much as I hate drinking it, DOES make a difference! Try flavoring it if you don't like it as is. How did things go with Joel's surgery yesterday. Sorry, I totally forgot to ask you about it last night.

JACKK, do wish we could meet up but understand you'll be rushing to get on the ship. Suppose to be great weather this weekend. Are you ready? Did you get all the clothes you wanted to buy? I will e-mail you my cell phone number. We are usually up that way on Sunday's anyhow, so who knows!

TRISH, I can understand your DH's apprehension, but as you said, he doesn't understand. I hope you can work on him about coming. I'd be happy to talk to him, really. Maybe you could come a little earlier and stay in Miami with me and go up to Orlando with us. Possibly the fares would be cheaper to Miami? See what you can find going in to either Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, or even Orlando if you just want to come in for the get together. I'm sure at that time of year there has to be something cheap out there. Let me know what you find. We'd love for you to come-it's like seeing old friends even though you've never met before!

DENISE, during these hot times are the times I wish I had a treadmill, or belonged to the gym. I like going outside, even though I have to fear for my life with the drivers down here, not to mention the pollution I breath running on busy roads! I am so impressed with your DM! I would love to meet you both! Maybe she can give me some pointers, as I sure as heck can use some. Only 2 months to go and I haven't done anything close to training for this. I'll probably just "wing it!" You are more than welcome to come join us in the van for the ride to Disney. I'm the furthest south, so it's just ELI and I. Kids are going to be staying home with my Mom, they have school, and I don't take my kids out for anything (both have perfect attendance). I'm just hoping ELI can get the 3 days off, otherwise, it's just me! Yes, you'd need to take Friday off. I plan on leaving quite early so I can get up there early as well. I plan on leaving Orlando on Sunday around 5ish, or thereabouts, so I can get home at a decent time. Anyhow, I do have your number and will give you a call this week sometime to say "HI" and to discuss the trip, among other things. You are right on with your story about being six again, MEN DON'T LISTEN!!!!!

SEF, at least I don't feel all alone with my computer problems! Hope yours are easier to fix than mine. What's up with all that bad weather you're getting? Hope it lightens up for you!

TRANQUIL, that's great that you are down to 241, before you know it you'll be in the 130's! I'm STILL waiting for that e-mail with fish-boys picture so I can check him out!!!

HEART hope today is better for you! Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try to stay focued. You can do it! Take each day an hour at a time.

BOB, how did things go at WW last night? ELI wants to know how many of the canisters you want. Will have to call you so we can get plans for the RIU started and you can call your boyfriend Johnny.

MONET, glad the Dr. saw you were getting better and is still keeping an eye out for you. Do what he says and don't over do things. Just keep in mind you want to be up to par for the Orlando trip!!!

GATOR, thanks for posting that article, it was very good and solidifies yet another reason to stay away from sugar. Thanks for the offer for the get together on Saturday, but I think we'd probably take advantage of a late breakfast at the hotel since it's so good (and FREE) and then do dinner-maybe a snack along the way. Just an idea, nothing for sure-but will let you and the others know, as well as decide. I'm hoping to find something that we can all do and enjoy Saturday afternoon. If you have any ideas, would you e-mail me? I loved the boat trip last time. I e-mailed SOLSHINE to ask her if she had any ideas-hope to hear from her.

MEL, sorry you won't be coming to DW in Jan-we'll miss you. Glad to see your post-hop on the board a bit more, we miss not seeing you around like we use to!

GRACIOUS, I'm impressed! All your shopping done-you are my idol!;)

MUSIC, CONGRATS on keeping that 1/2lb off! Sorry to hear about your friends house, how terrible. Do they know what caused it? At least no one was hurt, that's the most important thing.

CHERYL, CONGRATS on this weeks great loss! Can't you just taste teh 190's! I'll be doing that happy dance with you when you hit 199! It's just around the corner. Keep up the great work!

Okay, I'm outta here for now. I'll try to check in tonight after AMAZING RACE if the computer is free.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

I did not get the chance to weigh in this morning - it was crazy - my ds decided last minute he needed me to drive him because he heard the news the weather was bad and we were having tornado watches - well the weather is fine - a little gloomy, but fine....but he is a worry wart - also TOM made an unexpected appearance this morning - just finished and here he is knocking on my door again!

Deb - Glad to have had the chance to chat with you last night, missed everyone else!

JackK - Got to try the crab legs!!!!! Never know you might get hooked on them and never want to leave the buffets when you see them - just kidding! You have a wonderful time!!!!!!

Music - that is so horrible to hear that your friend's house burned down- hope nobody was hurt! Glad that your weigh in was good too.

Gracious - Incredible that you got all your Christmas shopping finished!!! Power to YOU!!!!!!

Zanne - Congrats on your good weigh in too!!!!!!

Sef - I am glad your soup turned out good, and your weather brightened up some - the gloomies came my way! But I made the apples again - this time I cooked them with agave, cinnamon and vanilla - out of this world!!!

Mel - Glad to hear from you - and that you are sticking to the sf woe! Sorry that you hurt your knee!!!!

Well better get back to work!

Mel !!! :) Welcome back. Wow, it looks like you are a babe with only 17% BF. Hope the knee gets better all by itself. I remember the clicking. I had knee problems. I used to run a lot and also played tennis. Several times a week and ran every night. Had knee surgery for a torn miniscus. Take care of yourself and don’t overdo on the knee.

Jack-K I was right next to an AAMCO when I realized that the weird noise was my flat tire. So I pulled in there and they changed it for me. Thank goodness. Road service usually takes 2 hours for them to arrive. I then had to go to the tire store for them to repair the flat, but they ended up giving me a new tire for a prorated amount. Never could find out what caused the flat.
BTW, have a great cruise.

Here’s what Suzanne e-mailed me about chat:

Our chat subscription has ended. I wasn't sure which day it would end, so I
left the link up. I'll remove it now. We were not able to renew our
DigiChat subscription due to the expense. We are going to offer another
chat product in the near future, but it will be a very basic chat.
I'm sorry for the trouble,
Suzanne

Hopefully we will have it by next week. Deb--I can get into IM chat rooms, but am not an AOL customer. How do we access your chat room?

Morning! WIW was ok...I am up a pound, but still down 11 from the illness. If I can keep it 10 down and not gain more than two back, that will be awesome. I know why I was up one today. While out to the doctor's yesterday, I did eat a sweet potato pie at McDonalds, after my double cheeseburger. I am determined now that my throat is almost all better, to stop the indiscretions. No more excuses! To that end, I had two eggs and oatmeal for breakfast. I am trying to stay upstairs here, and avoid the kitchen and all its temptations. I keep telling myself that those attractive no nos will burn my throat. So far, I have been gullible enough to believe myself. :)

Woke up to quite a surprise...Georgia has its first Republican governor in over 100 years!

GRACIOUS: How do you do it? Every year I try to get my Christmas shopping done early. The problem is, I keep seeing or thinking of just one more person, or thing I need to get and I end up spending twice as much! ;) This year, due to the mono, I think I will be doing a lot of shopping online. Oh, and by the way, having a chef come and cook for you is nice, but my son in law is very messy...so the drawback is that he leaves the kitchen in a HUGE mess! sigh.

JACK: You are going on a cruise? Where to? I have been kind of out of it, and as I was reading, I picked up on this and wondered how I missed it! I would love to go on a cruise! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

DEB: I better be up to par by January! If not, I am going to be one VERY depressed SBer. Too bad I did not think of this earlier...my hubby is a runner. He would have loved to run in the race. And my daughter was on the cross country team...she would have loved to run it as well. Maybe next year....

Ok...time for a nap.

Hi all

Just wanted to check in I am down 3lbs and I'm glad. I have been OP. I really miss not being able to get to the boards more often.

Last week was really busy for me both of my DS were sick with a virus and out of school for 3 days. Thank God I made it through that. They are all better now and back to school. There is no way I can catch up with the post . I just wanted to stick my head in and say hello.

Jack-k _Is it possible you could post your rice pudding recipe for me. I hope you enjoy your cruise. My husband and I went on a cruise 5 years ago. I guess It's time for another one. We had a great time.

Deb- I'm gald you're back down You are doing a wonderful job.

Tranquil _ I hope your son is better soon.

Monet- glad you are on the road to recovery.

Serene- Hello I hope all is well with you.

A big hello to all the other wonderful SUGARBUSTERS.

Hoping to get back soon.:)

Christmas Shopping- Thanks for all the kudos regarding the Christmas Shopping but I must confess that although it is a feat of sorts, it is out of necessity. Hubby being a Pastor and therefore not independently wealthy...he gets paid only once a month at the 1st of the month. I had to plan to get a few things every first of the month the last few months so I wouldn't get stuck without presents and without money to buy them! MONET- I try not to get stuck in that rut anymore. I used to keep getting things here and there and adding to the list but it is just not financially feasible for me now. Instead, I buy for our 3 kids, both sets of parents and my sister. I don't have a huge list like a lot of people so that helps.

MONET- Something else....you mentioned a sweet potato pie from McDonalds...do they really have such a thing?! What on earth is it? Sweet potato filled pastry? I cannot imagine. Now if this is true then it is one big difference between the USA McD's and the CANADIAN McD's!

MERCY- Down 3 lbs is wonderful!!

TONI- Slow and steady wins the race...congrats on the 1 lb.

HiedieHo All!!

Slept lousy last night! Couldn't get to sleep! Today I feel like I've been rode hard and put away wet! May be as the day progresses I'll get more energy.

ZANNE: That's one thing I miss living in the south, the four seasons. I used to love the snow, enjoyed the shoveling and snow-blowing. As I got older and couldn't do what I used to be able to do, I could do without the work part but still loved the snow! And here I am living where it's hot all year long except for a day or two.

GRACIOUS: I have some presents bought but am not done. I usually shop all year long.

MUSIC: Sad about your friends disaster, but a joy to hear about the support they are getting. People have to care for each other.

DEB: Our weather changes hourly. Right now it is beautiful and sunny and cool. Enjot the time with ELI, WOW two days in a row!

TRANQUIL: I MUST try the apples! I'm sitting here drooling!

TONI: We all have our favorites, I prefer the spinach, egg, bacon mixture. Love spinch and butter. Heck, I just love spinach!

Congrats to all you losers! Have choir tonight. Will try to check in later,

I'm with Cheryl, it's bad to have TOM on Halloween. Although the dental work I had on Monday seems to have slowed my feroucios appetite for candy down...thank goodness! Still, I weighed in at 166 today, so that was up .5 from last week.

I'm back to taking in food slowly and softly, but the most teriffic news is that I get my two front teeth next week on my birthday...reconstruction has taken almost 2 years (long story), I can't wait to have permanent teeth!!

Dr appts last week have only lead to more tests to be scheduled, the dr did confirm RSD in upper and lower right extremities. Ah well, my left side works and so does my brain, I have my family and my life and therefore I'm blessed, (plus I get my 2 missing teeth next week)

Monet, hope you are feeling better.

Hope you all have a great day!

Hey all, my but the board is busy busy!!
Didn't get to read, but scanned the board real quickly, as I am sitting at BIL's computer to check email hoping that i would have had an email from DDs. No luck so I decided to check in & say hello to everyone here. :D

WIW, sorry no scale available to check weight. Driving me crazy not to be able to weigh everyday like I do at home, but.... maybe it's a good thing  Not doing too bad I guess, but choices are not always easy when you're away from home.

Debbie, I did see your post about the January get together in O town & can hardly wait. Will be putting in my schedule request as soon as we get back home so that I can hop on a plane early the Fri am. Will email you when I get home. Your offer to help locate a decent fare sounds good.

Well, got to go. Hope all are doing well. :grouphug:

Checking out early today, Have to go to the gyno:o . Such a lovely duty.

Congrats to all the losers today. All us others, Hang in there. We know it works, we just have to DO IT!

Music, Yeah on the 1/2 lb. So sorry to hear about your friend's house. Sounds like they will lots of support and friends to help out. My heart goes out to them.

Cherlyco. ETG on the 1 lb. You will be in the 190's before you know it and it will be a wonderful feeling.

Deb, I can't believe you get 2 days with Eli. You will do fine at Carrabas. You can do it. I think I'm all together for the trip. I will call you if we get back in time. Being with a group makes it difficult to make plans.

Tranquil, Yuk on TOM 2 times quickly. I'm off to the gyno today. Not my favortie thing to do. Give us a WIT, ifyou will.

Gator, boy you were :lucky: to be next to the station. but not lucky to have a flat I guess. It's always something and some added expense.

Toni WTG on the pound and the extra time on the TM. Just don't overdo. We leave Sunday morning.

Monet, We are going to the Eastern Carribean, St Thomas, St. John, Bahamas, San Juan. This is our first and I am very excited. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you don't gain any more back either. That would be awesome.

Mercy, Sorry It's not me that has the rice pudding recipe. Maybe the owner will come forth and post it. I don't eat the stuff. Thanks for the well wishes. WTG on the 3lbs. taht is great :cb:

Gracious, You have a great handle on your shopping. If I did that my kids would change their minds by Christmas.

Sef, sorry you had such a bad nite. Hope tonite is better.

Idblond, I hate that you have all those problems with your health, but you sure have a great attitude and that is important. Maybe you should have got those 2 front teeth for Christmas instead of your bd.

Melf, Not having a scale can be a good thing. Just go by how you feel and how your clothes fit.

Have a great evening.

Hello fellow Sugarbusters- Does anyone have a sugar busters legal recipe for rice pudding? I would really appreciate it.

Zanne

Here you go! I'll post it on the recipe boards too. It seems a little involved, I'll keep looking for something simpler.

This is from: SugarBust for Life with the Brennans

BROWN RICE PUDDING

1/2 cup brown rice
4 cups whole milk
3 tablespoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 tablespoon liquid artificial sweetener
1 tablespoon granulated Sweet'N'Low

Serves 6-8

In a heavy pot, combine milk, 2 tablespoons vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. Slowly bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, being careful not to scorch the milk. Reduce the heat to low. Add the rice and cook at a low simmer for 2 hours, covered and stirring occasionally or until the rice is cooked thoroughly and creamy. Remove from the heat and refrigerate until completely cold.

Whip the heavy cream into stiff peaks with an electric mixer,a dding the Sweet'N'Low gradually. Add the remaining cinnamon, 1 tablespoon liquid sweetener, and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract. Using a spatula, fold the cream into the chilled pudding. Spoon into pudding cups, and serve immediately or refrigerate until ready.

Hello all! I am so behind on the board. Please forgive me. I will try to play catch up soon. Just a quick note to say I'm up a couple of pounds..ugh. My fault. It's all good. A couple of pounds is not the end of the world. They'll come off....and I aint my weight. That's what I'm telling myself. :)

I absolutely hate going to our local health dept- especially since Boogie had
surgery last month. But I had to take him to get recertified for WIC and for
Ashley and I to get our flu shot. He can't have his until after Thanksgiving.
Anyway, we get there at 8:30(the appt time) and sit at the front where we
wouldn't be surrounded by sick people. I then give him his morning meds. I
overhear this elderly woman telling her grandson something about Boogie being
sick and taking meds. So politely I turn around and say "Oh, he's not sick,
he's just taking his heart meds." Her daughter(the little boy's mom) is
sitting next to her and I tell her "It's okay, he's not contagious." That way
I was reassuring her of her son being exposed to germs, etc. Well then the
witch looks at me and says "She didn't say he was contagious, I didn't hear
her say that" She said it so rudely! Then the grandmother started to say it
was just a misunderstanding and the daughter cut her off and said "Mom, don't
say another word, you don't have to explain anything to her." Man, what a
total witch with a capital B! I just said "Geez, whatever." and turned around.
I should have told her off or something, and maybe I wouldn't be venting
here, lol. Anyway, they finally called us to the back waiting room. There's
only one seat available and it's right next to this little girl sick with a
cold. I'm trying desperatley to distance Joseph from the girl when she
sneezes all over him! The mom doesn't even tell the girl to cover her mouth.
Great, now Boogie will probably come down with it. Almost 3 hours have gone
by at this time. I noticed that people were being called who had later appt's
than us. I go to the window and bring it to the people's attention that we
are being passed up. Two minutes later we finally get called. Boogie weighs
25 1/2 pounds and for the height and weight combined, he's on the 5 % on the
chart. Poor baby thought he was the one getting the shot when the nurse got
the needle out. He actually grinned when he saw Mommy was the one getting a
shot. Anyway, sorry to vent.

WIW- well I knew today was going to be bad when I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror- I'm so puffy!! I drank water like crazy yesterday and it didn't help at all! I said I would weigh this morning regardless, and I weigh even more than I thought. I'm 4 pounds heavier, at 220. I'm so depressed. This is why I don't hardly ever drink- it's not worth it.

Hi everyone! Lots of posts to read by now. It's 6:10 pm eastern time. I've had a busy day at work today, so I wanted to touch base before I went home. Feeling a little more better today with the vertigo and my throat seems better too. It could be all the pills I'm on too! LOL! I will probably posting at the end of the day from now on, so that I can get all my work done first. I was getting behind if you know what I mean!! :)

I didn't weigh today cause TOM is here and I know that I weigh the same, as usual. I have been stalled for about 2 months now.

Congratulations to all the losers this week: Cherylco, Toni, Monet, Mercy, Zanne, and Tina :bravo:

Bob: Did not see a post from you today. Are you as depressed as I was seeing Bush being re-elected? :headache:
Can't believe Florida. With Mayor Giuliani backing Bush after 9/11, I guess most people would feel the need to vote for him.
That's just my opinion.

Idblond: It sounds like you are going through a lot of perseverence for your new permanent teeth, but it will surely be worth it in the end...
:)

Mary: I look forward to meeting you in Orlando. I am thinking about going too!

Debbie: I agree with you about all this hot weather and high humidity. I'm ready to move somewhere else. I stay inside and exercise until it's cool. Once the cooler weather comes, then I will start running/rollerblading/biking outside. I'm sure I can take off that Friday for Orlando trip so that's no big deal and I would love to carpool with you all. I will talk to you soon.

Serene: I hope your son is recovering well from his surgery. Sending you well wishes, strength, and prayers...

Tranquil: TOM is here for me too. Maybe next week, right!!

Mel: Very nice to meet you. I used to live in West Chester, PA for about 3 years when I was in the 6th-9th grades. I used to play Field Hockey and Lacrosse. They don't have those sports for kids down here in the South. I lived down the street from the West Chester State University College on Brandywine St. Sorry to hear about your knee problems. You can still come to WDW and hang out with us! I'm not running...

Shirley: That's cool that you went to Hawaii twice already. I would like to go once before I die, just to see how the snorkeling is. I bet it's magnificent!

Gracious: I envy you. Christmas shopping already is done for you. Wow, that must feel great! I love the snow, I'm still a big kid at heart, you know.:)

Jackie: I couldn't find the chat word at the top either. I thought I was nuts. Anyway, as you know already, it has been removed and they are working on repairing it. You are going to have a blast on that cruise to the Bahamas, St. John, etc. When you're in the Bahamas, go to the duty free shop to find perfume 1/2 price. Don't worry about the 2 pounds, you can shake it off dancing on the boat!:dancer:

Tina: Sorry to hear about your friends house burning down. It's funny how tragedies can bring people together in so many wonderful ways. People caring for people. That's what it's all about.

Crystle: You too, can dance those 2 pounds off easily!

Laurie: I'm so sorry to hear about your horrible experience at the doctor's office. People can be sooooooo rude for no reason whatsoever! Those people are like the "egg" where their life experiences have made them angry, mean, horrible people that they become hard on the inside. You did the right thing by ignoring her as it would of probably just escalated into something much worse. For her to be that mean, you have to wonder what happened to her in her life to become that way. She must be so unhappy with herself that she has to take it out on other people. I always try and "kill them with kindness". It's something that they don't expect and it works most of the time. Don't let them know that they have affected your mood in any way. Just be very nice and kind and then they have nothing to work with. Sorry to hear you were up on the scale too. It will come off fast as long as you stick with this WOE at your next meal.

Okay, now, I need a favor. Does anyone have a Pecan Pie recipe? I already have the Pecan crust, but no pecan pie filling.
My friend has a recipe that calls for Karo Syrup. What do you think she could substitute it for?

Durum Wheat Semolina: I saw a post a few pages back about Semolina and I'm confused. I usually buy the "BioNature" pasta at Whole Foods Supermarket which is 100% SGWW pasta. It's not dark brown, and it tastes really very good. Noone can tell the difference between white pasta and the Bionature I buy.

My question is: I saw a box of Publix Elbow Macaroni and the ingredients are:

100% Pure Durum wheat Semolina enriched with niacin, iron, thiamine, riboflavin, and folic acid. IS THIS LEGAL? and if not, why?

Thanks for your help as I saw somewhere that the Semolina was okay.

Talk to you all soon.

GRACIOUS: I think the sweet potato pies are a seasonal special at the McDonalds here. They were like their hot apple pies, only the filling was sweet potato. It was surprisingly good. Definitely not on program tho...

DENISE: There is a recipe for SB legal pecan pie somewhere on the recipe board. I will look in my stuff and see if I can find it, in case you can't. I have made it, and it turned out ok, if I remember rightly. You could use Agave syrup for the karo. I bet that would be rather tasty!

HEARTMOM: Don't you just love how rude people can be?! People like that make me so mad. I hope and pray that Boogie doesn't get a cold from that little girl sneezing on him. I hate when people go out and go to work and stuff sick. I have Lupus, and if I catch bugs like that, I get really sick. As much as I hate laying around here, I will do it for the six weeks the doctor said if for no other reason than I would hate to give Mono to someone else.

Someone brought me dinner tonight...it was really good, but not very SB legal. I had lasagna, and garlic rolls and salad. Guess it was not too bad...It was nice to have a hot meal and not have a frazzled husband and daughter trying to get it on the table!

I woke up to the most gorgeous winter wonderland! There was already a bit of snow still on the ground but this morning everything was white. Picture a lovely snow scene in a movie where there are trees decorated with white, softness and the deck railing iced with 3 fluffy inches of snow. The yard rolling back an acre against the woods and covered with an even white blanket with one snowman standing in the midst! That is the view from my kitchen window and it is truly lovely.

MONET- I find that sweet potato pie humorous. We have seasonal things here on the East coast that we didn't get in Ontario. They are lobster rolls at McD's and you can get them only here in the east.

DENISE1963- My understanding after reading Michel Montignac's book is that the extruded types of pasta are better ..ie: lower on the glycemic index than elbow and ravioli type shaped pasta which hasn't been pushed/extruded when being made. Try and stick to the long spagetti shapes..at least that is what he says! I am just commenting about the shape here though. The 100% duram semolina is legal from what I read but I use the SGWW myself in any shape! Maybe DEBELLI will sort this out.

HEARTMOM- Sorry to hear about your bad experience in the doctor's office. We have to remember to treat others the way we would like to be treated and that woman obviously forgot that! However, don't let her wretchedness bring you down. Overlook the insult as best you can, remembering that we have often been the recipients of others grace too when we haven't been as nice as we should have been. I will pray that Boogie won't catch that cold too!

That is it for me. Still eating well and losing so I can't complain!

Good Thursday Morning Everyone!

Just got in from my jog/walk-it's absolutely gorgeous here in SOFLA today. I can't complain about the heat, only the wind gusts. It took me only 48:05 to do my 4.5 miles today. I'm hoping that that time is accurate because my batteries in my walkman were dying and I had to shut off the tape player and run without music:( BUT, when I got home I timed it against the timer on the microwave and it was perfect, so I'm taking that my time is right:) Without the wind it could of been better!

I don't have but a minute, I have to get in the shower, go get gas, run something to Lauren at school she forgot at home:rolleyes: and then get over to my sister's house to watch the 2 little ones so she can get to an appointment.

I'll get on here later and post - promise!

Have a great day!

Bright and sunny this morning--cept the temp is 16F and with the windchill it feels like 4F  Then tonight the temp is going UP! WEIRD!

Went to swimming lessons last night and accomplished a personal best. I managed to do the 7 length endurance swim I have to do to complete this level. I did this near the end of the class and we had already done one try at the endurance (I managed to do 6 lengths that first time). Last year it was difficult for me to complete the 3 lengths I needed to get out of that level. So I'm pretty proud of myself:D Gave me a good workout too.

TONI--WTG on getting in an extra 5 minutes on the TM. Great progress!

GRACIOUS--The winter scene you described sounds sooo pretty. I still want to get the leaves raked up before the snow, but there's still lots to come down. We're having really strange weather. Gonna be warmer tonight than today!

JACKK--In case I don't get on after this, HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP!! You'll have to tell us all about it when you get back. Maybe the ship will have a computer you can use to check up on the board--aw, you'll probably be too busy having fun!

HEARTMOM--How awful you had that rude woman in your face. I hope Boogie doesn't catch the cold. Try to keep strong and not let these type of stresses make you eat the wrong things. Come vent here anytime.

DENISE--I stopped buying any white pasta. I just buy ww pasta and the family likes it.

MONET--Keep resting like the doc says. I've known a couple of people who've had mono and the 6 weeks rest is the usual recommendation. Take real good care of yourself so you can make it to WDW!

I'm outta here! I've got all my chores caught up so today I'm starting some Christmas baking--and I'm going to make as much as I can SB legal! I won't tell anyone--what they don't know will be healthier for them!:sssh: :ziplip:

Bye for now!

Good morning everyone.

It's a beautiful sunshiney (is that a word) crisp 40 degrees this morning. After the 2 weeks of rain that we'd been having, this is wonderful. It's supposed to be like this for a few more days.

Sorry I didn't get to report for WIW yesterday, was at the seminar all day. I was down 2 pounds, but I'm sure that after the way I ate, it's back up again. It was your typical buffet food, lasagne, bread, salad. I ate like crap, even ate some cake. I don't know what got in to me except I'm back on track today. Water, water, water. At least it was a very good seminar, though.

Jackie: I saw your post about your chicken recipe. Try crumbling up Triscuits or shredded wheat and using that as a breading. It really helps things stay crispy.

Wow, looks like things are nuts today at work. Better go. I'll try and post more later.

See ya,

Trish

Mornin' y'all. Thanks for all the well wishes for my friend. They are in a house that the school district owns. It has been completely furnished with furniture, the kids have tons of clothes and the pantry is full. This is a great community. Now for my sad story...The kids and I were on our way to church last night and right around the corner from our house there were cars backed up, a pickup in the middle of the road and a fire truck in the road. Anyway, I cut the car off and told the kids to stay in the car while I went to find out what was going on. Some kid had hit a tree, backed up and headed down the road when his truck caught on fire. He jumped out of the truck and ran off. That's why the road was blocked. The mother of the kid had driven up in her pickup and the was backing up to go home and call her husband. She backed right into my car. :yikes: Tore off the mirror, messed up the fender and door on the driver's side. I have to climb in thru the passenger side. The kids were terrified. I walked home with them (it was just around the corner from our house) and left them with Dennis. Went back and waited for the police. Anyway, she got a ticket and will have to pay for the damage. I go this afternoon to get estimates. What an exciting way to end the day. I didn't get the kids to sleep till after 11 last night. :tired: I did have a small cheat after it was all over. There were about 4 bites of ice cream left in the freezer and I finished it off. If there had been more, I would have eaten it.:s:

HEARTMOM: Sorry you had a bad experience yesterday. I hate going to the health dept. One of the kids ( I forget which one ) had to get their shots there because insurance didn't cover it. I was always very uncomfortable there. Hope Boogie doesn't catch cold.

ZANNE: 7 Laps! WTG! I wouldn't be able to do that. And that's waaaay to chilly for me. It was 39 here this morning and I was freezing.

GRACIOUS: The snow sounds beautiful. If it could just snow AND be 75 degrees it would be great.

Time for munchkins.

Good morning everyone. Just got off the treadmill. I'm excited I've just about got my week in adding more time in on my walking. Its beautiful here in Missouri this morning. The sun is even shinning on the frost. 5 more days till my trip to my brother's in Colorado and I've got lots to do...

Sef- Hope you get a second wind on your sleepless night... I just hate that when it happens..

Idblond-I know how you feel about your teeth. I go to the dentist tomorrow for the first try on of a partial plate which will have one tooth. Its not the same as yours I know but such a relief to finally get a tooth.

Melf- Are you on vacation? Hope you're having a great time...

Jack-K-Good luck at the gyno... Yuck!!!! Oh bet you're sooo excited. Have you gotten your room toren apart trying to find things to take? I've had to try on everything in my closet to see what fits for my trip. Even my winter coat is to big.....

Zanne- Your recipe sounds good....Great on your swimming, keep up the great work up...

CountryMom- Yep you're right about a couple of lbs. I'm sure next week will be better, so hop on back to SB....

heartmom- What a horrible trip to the health dept. Shame on them for not calling you first because of Boogie just having heart surgery. I don't blame for not wanting to go in the first place. Sorry about your weight being up, but you know that allot of it is water weight and hope fully next week it will take a dive...Don't let it get you down, you're really doing so good and a heck of a Mom.... So hang in there gal and of course this is the place to vent...

Denise-Sure don't know how you're working with your throat and vertigo. I hope you're getting lots of rest at home. I know the big stall I finally started down after a hard month of going no where.

Monet- Oh I need that pecan pie recipe. That was so nice of someone to bring dinner. You need a little extra care now.

gracious-Oh your snow sounds just beautiful... I love the first snow of the year. We've got sunshine and 66 degrees. Oh my gosh lobster rolls, Wow.... Congrads. on doing well with your eating and losing..

Debelli- Congrads. on your good run.. You are doing so great......

Well time to go... Have a great day...

Tina, oh my gosh! I'm so sorry to hear about your traumatic day. Does the lady have insurance? Were your kids in the car when it happened? Are they alright? If she has insurance make sure you don't sign any settlement agreements until your car is completely fixed and you know for sure that your kids are alright.

What a day you had and only ate 4 bites of ice cream. Way to go!

MUSICTEACH-What a terrible thing to happen both for the kid driving, your kids and you with your poor car..sheesh. It was really piled on there for you..I can understand your eating those last 4 bites of ice cream; but God is sovereign and He only allowed there to be those 4 bites left instead of a whole bowls worth!

JACK-K- I use parmesan cheese, parsely, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper to coat my chicken and bake it in the oven. The cheese makes it crunchy and it tastes great. Of course, Atkins folks also add crushed pork rinds and I do that sometimes too but SB'ers want to watch the fat content when doing that.

Hi all,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the board!

I had a question, and I'm sorry if it's been covered before:

I originally began my self-improvement kick because my cholesterol results were way too high for my age. I'm currently on atkins (modified slightly to cut out foods that are too high in sat. fats) and have been doing well. But my PA mentioned Sugar Busters by name when she was explaining what i need to do to get my numbers down. SB seems like a more liveable WOE for me than atkins (though i've been successful so far on atkins).

I was wondering if anyone went from an atkins-like low carb diet to SB, and how things went for them.

Thanks!

Good Thursday Moring

I actually think it is lunch time. I started this first thing and then had to leave for a meeting and just got back and finished reading the posts.

Just 1 1/2 more days to work. :cb: I can't wait.

I've been busy making chili, chicken salad, quiches, for my DD to have to eat while we are gone. Have to get all the laundry caught up etc. You would think she was a child (23). I don't know how she is going to make it w/o me when she gets married.

Country, Hi to you too. Don't worry about the extra pounds they will come off. You have a good attitude.

Heartmom, What insensitive people. No manners what so ever. I sure hope Boogie doesn't catch that cold. What a frustrating day. Just keep Op and those 4 lbs will come right off.

Denise, I use 100% duram semolina pasta. I read it was legal. I only use pasta once a month anyway. I would think yu could use agave or sf maple syrup for the Karo syrup.

Monet, That was sweet that someone brought you dinner. You can't hardly refuse to eat it. Feel better.

Gracious, your snow scene sounds beautiful. I love to look at it, just don't like driving around in it.

Deb have fun babysitting today. It was 35 when I went out this morning. A little brisk.

Zanne, Congrats on moving up in the swimming level. :cp: I know I couldn's swim even 3 lengths. Swimming is such great exercise too. Works all the muscles. The ship does have a e-mail system, but know telling how much it would cost. I will miss being on here all week.

Mercy, Have a great day.

Trish, WTG on the 2 lbs. If you're back on track today, you will be fine.

Music, How awful that the lady ran into you. I can imagine how frightened your kids were. I'm glad there wasn't anymore ice cream left. Hope it all works out easily witht he reparis and such. I'm with you on the snow and 75 temp.

Toni, My closet was bare to start with. I had to have 3 dresses I wore in the summer taken up and I only have 3 pairs of shorts to my name. I didn't try them on again, I sure hope they aren't too big. I just hate buying too much b/c I don't stay the same size very long. I don't even own a coat. I borrowed my DD for a football game tonite and it is too big. Not too bad of a problem to have though is it?

Have a great day!

JACK-K: I'm glad there wasn't any more ice cream left too. I would have finished off whatever amount had been there. We have a friend that has a body shop. I'm going there first for an estimate since we know we can trust him.

DAYBREAKER: Welcome. There are several on the board who have done Atkins and switched to SB. You're right that this is a much more do-able WOE.

GRACIOUS: You are so right that God is in control. Our pastor often reminds us that whatever happens in our lives, it is no surprise to God and He is still in control of the situation.

TRISH: Yes, she has insurance with the same company we have. Don't know exactly how that will work, but she got a ticket so it's clearly her fault. The kids are fine, just really scared. Sarah's teacher told me at lunch that Sarah had dozed off in class.:eek:Maybe I won't have so much trouble getting them to sleep tonight.

TONI: WTG on getting that TM time in. Wish I had one.

CHERYLCO: You were posting at the same time I was. Yeah a little heavy on the stressful side. Had to have a Calgon take me away session last night.:)

Gotta go. I'm being bad typing this while I have kids in the room. I have them busy doing an activity tho.:s:

WHEW! I'm glad that's over with!

Well, except of course here in Alabama it's not really over with--we still don't know who our next governor will be. well, we do, but somebody just won't admit that he lost! I guess I'm not going to be able to poke fun at the FLA voters anymore!

To let you know, I worked with five candidates in Tuesday's election. Four won and one lost. Not a bad record! The one that lost was a real David/Goliath battle (we were David) and we didn't have a very big sling shot. So that loss was not a surprise. My candidates that won were: two statewide, one congressional, and one state school board.

I spent most of yesterday in Montgomery and may have to go back today. I am on the transition team for one of my candidates that is preparing to take statewide office, so we have to begin working on her inagural celebration. But overall today is much more relaxed that it has been in a loooong time.

I am most looking forward to actually eating vegetables again.

I've tried to read the board this week--but as usual, when it it Thursday there are just too many posts to reply to them all personally. I'll hit the ones that really stick out in my mind and apologize to everyone else!

Gracious--SNOW! It sounds pretty, but I live in the south because I'm not much on cold weather. So enjoy, I'll keep the pretty picture you described in my mind's eye!

Monet--Glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery. Take it easy and don't try to do too much. A relapse would be terrible so do what your DR. Says for the ENTIRE six weeks!

Heart--I'm sorry you had a rough time at the Health Dept. I hope Boogie didn't get that little girl's cold. I can't imgaine why people have to be so rude and unfeeling. I hope you are having a better day today!

BOB--Sorry about that tree you planted---NOT! You know if I had been in FLA I would have been working for Jeb! AS a consolation prize I think UT shoudl beat up on Miami this week!

Music--so sorry to hear about your misadventures with your car! I hope the repairs go well and you can get your car back in shape soon!

That's all I can remember for now. I've got to go watch the noon news to see if we have a governor yet. I'm planning a major grocery shopping expedition this afternoon because the kitchen is bare--I will cook a good SB legal meal tonight for the first time in weeks--I can't wait!

DAYBREAKER: I did Atkins/Protein Power for four years before switching to SB over a year ago. I am a very slow loser...with severe metabolic problems. SB seems to be a better program for me. I do lose on it, still slowly, but at least I am making some progress. I never could get into ketosis, no matter how few carbs I ate, so Atkins was not working for me at all. If you switch, my advice it to watch the carbs...and limit your starchy carb servings to two a day. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Stopping in to say "hi"

My vertigo is almost completely gone now and my throat seems back to normal. Just feel tired from the anti-anxiety medication. I guess I could try and do some exercise tonight. We'll see....

We are finally having a totally beautiful day here in South Florida. The high will be in the 70's and at night in the 60's. Sweet!! However, it's only going to last today and tomorrow and then by Saturday, it's supposed to be in the mid 80's. Perfect for Jackie's cruise....:) I should get outside tonight and enjoy the cool weather!

Monet: Thanks for your suggestion of substituting the Agave syrup for the Karo Syrup. Still looking for a SB legal pecan pie recipe if anyone finds one.

Gracious: You snowy scenery sounds so inviting. Some day, I'm going to get up to Canada and check that out!! Thanks for your input on the durum semolina.

Debbie: Great time on your run today! Isn't this weather awesome!!!!!

Zanne: Congrats on your swimming accomplishment! That's one exercise that works every muscle in your body. Your early Christmas baking sounds like fun!!

Mercy: Thanks for your warm welcome! I look forward to getting to know you better too!

Trish: Congrats on the 2 lb loss!

Tina: Sorry to hear about your car accident. Life is full of obstacles. Good Luck!!!

Jackie: Thanks for your suggestions for the pecan pie and for letting me know that 100% durum semolina is legal. This is one of my problems. I need to cut this pasta out!! Have fun this weekend!

Daybreaker: Welcome! I only lasted 3 days on Atkins before feeling ill. You will like this WOE so much better...

Take care everyone and talk again soon.

Hey All:wave:

Thought I'd get in a post before I have to go.

Nieces gave me no trouble today, thank goodness. Barfing Bailey didn't even get me today, oh yes, she barfed, but I was totally protected! My DM said she was going to walk in their house one day donning a rain poncho! LOL!

Well, last night went as I figured it would! We went to Carrabas and first was the calimari-delicious, but of course, not OP. Had the salad with a little of the dressing (always on the side so I can dip my fork) and then the eggplant (I'll probably never get anything else, I'm a creature of habit). Of course, the Tiramisu was ordered and I pigged. Granted, ELI had a bite or two, but Denise (his DD) and I ate the rest. Well, it's not enough for me to stop there, if you haven't figured me out by now, noooo:nono: I kept going-polished off a half of a half-gallon of ice cream, some candy a couple cookies. Hmmmm, I think that was it. And then I was done. Well, even though I went through all that and eating all that crap after being 100% for 2 1/2 weeks I actually feel I had some sort of "break through" as I just felt, for the first time, it was done and it was over with and that I wouldn't continue the next day, which I didn't/haven't. Right back on track. Usually, it goes for a few days, but not this time.

BUT, the scale is also UP!!!! Pisses me off, but hey, if you play with fire, you're bound to get burned. Not sure if it's from a few hours of eating or being right smack dab in mid-cycle, day 14 today. Guess I'll just take a "weight and see attitude".

Anyhow, going to get a few replies in before it gets too late...

TRANQUIL, what's the deal with TOM showing up so early? Hope it's just a fluke and doesn't happen again.

GATOR, thanks for letting us know what SUZANNE said in response to the chat room. I guess I'll just have to set up a chat room come Tuesday. It's not something I can do ahead of time, though, there may be a site that has chat rooms that may allow us to make our own-will have to look in to this!

TONI, CONGRATS on your pound loss this week AND for the good job you continue to do on the treadmill:D Nothing wrong with slow. These days we want EVERYTHING now. Guess that's why it's so hard to find people patient about anything they have to wait for. Of course, I'm as guilty as the next, but as the saying goes "all good things come to those who wait!"

MONET, sweet potato pie, at McD's? Either that'something just up your way, or I'm truly out of touch from the fast food joints! I've never heard of that, but then again, I don't go to those places:shrug: As you said, no more excuses-keep thsoe 11lbs at bay and work on the next pound, and so on. Just think what you can accomplish before we see you in Orlando - BTW, how much have you lost since I saw you???

MERCY, CONGRATS on your great loss this week, that's awesome! We miss you too, but come to the board when you can, we all understand it's harder for some to get on than it is for others, esp. with sick kids in the house!! Hope their better now:)

LDBLOND, hope all goes well with the new toofers! I like when you look at the positive-so much more positive than negative and *****ing and moaning about negatives NEVER does any good;)

MELF, will be happy to try and help find a fare, you just give me some ideas of where you can fly out from. Drive safely!

JACKK, wish I had read your post BEFORE going to Carrabas! Yes, I could of done fine, but as you probably read above, I didn't:^:

HEART, sorry to hear about the ordeal at the WIC office. My sister gets WIC too and hates having to go there. In fact, that's why I had to babysit for the 2 youngest today, so she could get renewed. Don't worry about those 4lbs, just get back on track and they'll disappear quickly.

DENISE, glad to hear you're feeling better! Yes, it is a gorgeous day here today! I love it. Just didn't like the wind this morning, felt like I was running against a brick wall at times. Rollerblading? Wow, I can't even stand up on those things. If you'll be home tonight, can try you after Survivor-LMK (let me know). As MONET mentioned, the agave is great as a substitute to make a pecan pie. I know I have a recipe somewhere...will have to see if I can find it. As for the WW pasta, it should be made from stone ground ww. Don't have my book handy, but I think the other gals were able to fill in the blanks. It's also true about the extrusion of pasta being lower GI.

GRACIOUS, you can keep the snow, but send a little more cooler weather our way, that, I'll take. You are right about the extrudd pasta, I think the info is on the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD about that.

ZANNE, good going on the swimming, CONGRATS! Geez, CONGRATS for getting in a bathing suit in public, that's something I'll never see happen in this lifetime, that's for sure! Xmas baking, now? Boy, between GRACIOUS getting her shopping done and you doing baking now, you put as all to shame!

TRISH, CONGRATS on this weeks loss-awesome! Don't worry about the eating, as you see from the above, I too was up after eating off plan last night, nothing you can do except get right back on track. Whatever got into me and I seemed to have not kept it to myself and it got a hold of you-hopefully, after it was done with you you got rid of it for good!!!! I sure as heck don't want it back!;)

MUSIC, sorry to hear about the car. Guess you won't be doing any abulance chasing in the future;) Thank goodness she has insurance to pay, but what a pain to have to go through all this! And thank goodness the kids didn't get hurt, that's more important than anything!

DAYBREAKER,

I have not been on Atkins and switched over to SB, but many others on the board have and will give you their personal opinions. I, on the other hand, can tell you your Dr. is a smart cookie. Many Dr.'s recommend this WOE to their patients and with good reason, it not only works, but it's a very healthy and easy WOE to follow and one you can do indefinitely. Don't be afraid to ask questions, we're all more than happy to help answer any questions you may have:D

FILLISE, glad it's all over for you, now would you try to slow down a bit?!? Hey, any way you can come in for the Orlando get together in January-you NEED a vacation! LMK if you can! Congrats on 4 of your 5 candidates winning!

Hello to everyone else!!

Time for me to go get the kids from school. Will check in later if
possible, otherwise, tomorrow.

Have a great day!

Just heard from SUZANNE via a P.M. She said she should have a new alternative for the chat she had up before next Tuesday night so we can have our scheduled chat! YIPPEEE!!

Also, I see on the announcement boards that they will be changing servers again in December. I really need to get on the ball and get those old recipe boards at least copied so I can update them all correctly. It stunk when I lost everything on the other computer-have to start from scratch again!

DAYBREAKER- I did about 7 months on Atkins officially and lost weight before I switched over to SB. I have switched back and forth between the two of them when I needed an extra boost in my weight loss. I lose faster on Atkins and even going without any carbs than I do on SB...but having said that, SB is WAY more healthy and *normal* eating. I am doing a week of Induction right now because I had a bad previous week *read candy here* . I always watch my starchy carb intake on SB though. I eat 1-2 servings per day rather than the 2-3. Once I reach goal I am going to switch back yet again to SB for my maintanence. I have read just about everything out there and SB far outranks the others in healthy normal eating that a person truly can do for the rest of their lives.

If you make the switch from Atkins to SB you are going to find that it is a smorgasboard ( sp? ) of food for you. It really opens up so many more options. You get to eat fruit, whole grains, meat and veggies galore. I think it is a wonderful plan and it is the one I recommend the most to people now.

Getting ready to get out of here. Going straight to the UofL game. Sure hope I don't freeze my B:censored: off!. Gee and I'm not even a fan. The things we do for your men. He hates to miss out on a social event.

Daybreaker, Welcome to our board. I started with SB but have friends that do Atkins. They never stick with it. SB is something you can do forever. If you can't eat it, you can find a substitute for it the SB way. Hope you keep posting with us.

Music, Hope the kids are better today. Yes they will sleep good tonight.

Fillise, sounds like yu are the woman for the job. 4 out of 5 is great. Doesn't sound like you are going to get musch rest though with the transition.

Denise, Glad to hear you are better. Don't forget to keep doing your exercises. Man now it's cool there? I really don't know what to where on the plane now. Is it supposed to warm up for Sunday?

Deb, You need to avoid Carabbas. I can appreciate the eating at dinner, but we HAVE to learn to control the continuing. How do we do it??? I'm sure that the food weighed alot and that is what has the scale rising. Remember your colon article? So glad you are back on the straight and narrow today. That's what we have to learn to do and keep these indescretions few and far between.

Have a great evening.

Hello....I am currently doing ww and have been very happy with it but have wondered about SB in combination with it. (maintaing for over a year now) I'm not sure it is for me cause I would hate to never have anything sweet again...my question is after you detox if you eat sugar do you totally blow the program or can you have sugar just not too much??????? I do use splenda in stuff but cannot have the other sweetners so I have not given it a whirl. Thouhgt it might help with my anxiety and Fibromyalgia pain.

Thank you for your advice :)

Ellen
11-08-2002, 08:32 AM
CANDICE: Once you get off sugar, you don't really want it anymore. I think everyone on here will admit to occasionally cheating and eating something with sugar. You just go right back to SB, and its ok. SB is a very healthy program to follow. I think it is better than any other...the whole grains are better for you, and you can eat such a wide variety of foods. When I did WW I always had problems...I could eat all my points for a day in potatoes. Not a good idea! :) On SB, I find that fruit and splenda are enough sweets for me now. Why not join us here, give it a whirl and see if it helps? I have heard limiting carbs helps fibromyalgia. Try keeping your starchy carb servings to 2 a day and see if it helps.

No body around this morning it seems! I woke up feeling icky and I think I might have caught a bug from my son. Hopefully it won't turn into much.

DEBELLI- I just wanted to say that ZANNE and I are able to think about the Christmas preparations so soon because we are CANADIANS and you Americans still have to get through Thanksgiving first! Once that is over then your focus can move onto Christmas or Hannukah. That is one reason I really like celebrating Thanksgiving in October. It gives us a break between 2 big holidays and we have recoup and preparation time!

JACK-K- Have a great time on your vacation. I am still not clear on when you leave but I know it is soon! Enjoy yourself.

FILLISE- Good to see you back, you were missed while you were away busy doing that election thing!

Happy Happy Friday

Boy where is everybody last night and today?

Well we went to the football game. I keep doing these stupid things, like going to a ballgame in the pouring down rain, sitting at a ballgame in the freezing cold for a team I don't like. I think I'm just plain stupid. I froze to death. Game was horrible (except they lost) and we didn't get home until 12:30. ESPN game.
Now I'm   :tired:

But on a happier note, this is my last day of work. :jig: :cb:

I don't know how I am going to make it for 7 whole days w/o you guys. I will really miss you.

I'm not worried about my eating. I'm sure there will be plenty of legal foods even though the bread won't be just right I will still limit my carbs to 2 and I will go to their fitness center everyday and workout. I am really going to make a conscience effort to eat right but still enjoy myself.

Gracious, That is a good concept on your early Christmas shopping. I sure wish we had more time in between the 2 holidays. Especially this year, we have a week less. Maybe the US would consider moving Thanksgiving to Oct?? We actually leave Sunday morning.

Candice, Welcome our our little SF corner of the world. I have done WW, numerous times. Made goal twice. Never kept it off. I don't think you ever learn to change your eating habits with WW. If you don't go to the meetings, you quit counting points and you are right back where you started. With SB I have drastically changed my eating habits. I have not had any sugar in 13 months. Don't even miss it. This is a Way Of Eating I can do for the rest of my life and not have to worry about gaining back all my weight. Plus this board is like a WW meeting, but you don't have to pay and you can come here all day long if you need to. It's wonderful. Give it a try. It's tough at first, but well worth it.

I should be able to check back in later.

Well, only got a bit of baking done. I'm still trying to find "legal" recipes or change my faves to legal.

Now, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've seen banana bread listed with a moderate GI. I have a great banana bread recipe and thought I'd make a bunch of them to give. I experimented yesterday and made them with ALL whole wheat flour (the recipe calls for white flour) and cut the sugar in half. They turned out really good. I'm going to try replacing the sugar with unsweetened apple sauce. I would think these changes would lower the GI a bit too.

I want to try MELF's recipe for Cranberry Nut muffins. They sound yummy. I'll have to keep scouring the recipe boards for more great stuff.

I DID eat way too much of my baking yesterday. I got all bloated and felt gross. But today is back OP and lots of water!

DEBELLI--I agree with GRACIOUS that we can think about Christmas cause we're finished with Thanksgiving. Also, the Christmas brainwashing starts before Halloween with TV ads and Christmas stuff in the stores :dizzy: The swimming--it's Ladies only. The bathing suit does show my rolls, but I don't care. Some women just wear leggings and t-shirts! HOORAY for your breakthru! You ate too much and/or off plan, but that's in the past and you went right back OP. That's the way to do it!

GRACIOUS--Saw all the snow you got on the news last night. Holy Cow! Is it still cold enough for it to stay? Supposed to be beautiful here! Around 16C/60F:cool: Hope you fell better soon.

DENISE--Glad you're feeling better.

MUSIC--Sorry to hear about your friends' house, but how wonderful they have such a great community to help them out. And then your car! Oh my gosh--are the kids ok? Pretty scary stuff. Glad she's got to pay for the damage.

JACKK--Have a GREAT holiday. Enjoy every minute!

TONI--You have a GREAT visit with your brother!

Gotta go. Sorry I didn't get to everyone. I have a feeling I'm missing someone else who is going away(GATOR??). Have a good trip too!

Bye for now!

Good Friday morning. Just did my week on the treadmill. Got my time up and am doing good on it. I leave next Tuesday for my trip to my brother's in Denver. I need help on things I can bring with me to eat on the plane. I have a lay over in Memphis Tenn. but don't think its time for me to grab a salad or anything to eat. I hate arriveing in Denver starving to death. Its going to be hard enough to get the right things to eat while I'm there. Thats the only real thing that makes me nervous about the trip. And one that no one but you ladies would understand.

Music teach-Hope that calgon took that stress away. I can't imagine what a stressful job it must be to teach kids and really admire you for it. Are you getting to walk anymore. I've got an old treadmill but they're great to have.

Fillise-Glad you're going to be OP again. Sounds like you've been soooo busy and still have lots on your plate. It will be great to get back to normal again I'm sure.

Denise- I'm so happy you're feeling a bit better. Maybe you can just do a slow walk to start out for your exercise.

Debelli- Isn't getting to enjoy a day of eating what you want and then staying OP or legal the rest of the time just a normal part of living. Being below your goal and doing well 99 per cent of the time with a treat day now and then a good part of being a real sugar buster... It would be a good thing to look forward to, letting your guard down once in awhile.

Daybreaker- Welcome to this WOE ( way of eating) glad to see you posting and hope you stay and enjoy SB with us and all the support here...

Jack-K-If I don't get another chance to tell you I hope you have a wonderful crusie. Relax and enjoy yourself... Can't wait to hear about your trip.

gracious- I hope you get to feeling better. Rest lots today....

Zanne- I don't think we can eat banana bread.

Time to go now.. Have a great day....

I totally agree with Monet. You don't never ever eat anything sweet ever again. It's just that your taste buds change and you just plains old don't crave sugary foods. I HAD to stop using Heinz Ketchup because it just tastes too sweet now. The 3rd ingredient is corn syrup. I used to really hate diet soda, totally gross taste. Now it tastes like normal soda to me and regular soda tastes like a mouthful of sugar water. I eat a candy bar if I feel like it, I just rarely feel like it.
The best thing about SB (besides that it works) is there is no measuring, counting calories, points or fat grams or weighing food. The only thing I look at is sugar grams. Well ingredients too.

Toni48
Take triskets or any legal cracker, some cheese stick things like mozzarella sticks, grapes, broccoli, peppers, carrots, celery. Lots of stuff!
Have a great time with your brother. :)

HiedieHo All!!

Sorry I didn't get around yesterday, was on the go all day. Went to NH as usual, then to church and spent two hours making copies, then home to fix xomething for the HFH Thanksgiving dinner, then went to the dinner. Was finally able to put my feet up about 9:30p. Was in bed by 12:30.

Today is wash and clean day. Since I'm rired don't know how much I will get done. Have wash going and have picked up. Need to save some energy for tomorrow, our church is having a clean-up day. Someone gave the choir a large file cabinet so the director and I are going to work in the choir room. Then at two a friend and I are going down to Olde Towne to see an exhibit of religious icons.

I think Sunday after church I'll just collapse! I think there's an ice show on that will be strenuous activity for the day, watching that and reading the papers.

Could someone recommend brands of 100% Semolina pasta?

LDBLOND: I like the positive outlook!

HEART: Sorry to see you had a bad day at the health department. Some people are so insecure that they have to make life miserable for others. Just consider the source and forget that rude B----! Hope Joseph will be okay.

DENISE: I didn't do any snorkeling but loved the beaches. My DDhad a 4WD and we went to beaches off the beaten path that were secluded and beautiful.

MONET: Frazzled Dh and DD trying to get supper on the table?!?! I wouldn't worry about that, aren't you frazzled when you do it? Just think how much they will appreciate you when you get back to normal! Maybe, they will! Sometimes I think people are jsut glad they don't have to do something anymore.

GRACIOUS: Your beautiful snow scene makes me homesick for winter. I always liked the snow.

MUSIC: Sorry to read about your car experience, at least none of you were hurt.

DAYBREAKER: Welcome! You'll lots of support here. People love to answer each other's questions! I went on SB because of my numbers and they have come down to normal and I don't feel deprived or like I'm on a "diet".

CANDICE: Welcome. See above to DAYBREAKER.

Okay, I have been here long enough and nothing else is being accomplished. The dryer just buzzed to bring back to reality. Hope to check in later.

My husband and I started SB about 7 months ago, and have both lost about 45 pounds each. I quickly found out that SB is so much easier to follow if you get into cooking, and that there’s very little that we actually have to go without as long as I do my research and find legal ingredients to substitute with.

Now both of our families are very interested in trying this new way of eating. I let them all try some of the other recipes I’d found like lemon cheesecake, BBQ chicken, chili etc. and they were pretty surprised to find that these were all things that were legal on SB. Which really encouraged them to try it.
Now Christmas is coming… I’m trying desperately to come up with some cookie recipes that are legal, but also very good. I’ve been trying out some recipes with SGWW flour, soy flour, Xantham gum, and agave, but everything seems to turn out really heavy, dry, and dense… I was hoping for light and crispy, or even chewy. The icing is a synch so far, but the texture of the cookies is problem. I'd like to really impress our family again, and encourage them to keep going. This is the first time I’ve posted on this board, and I realized I missed recipe day by one day, lol. If anyone has any advice though, or recipes to help me with this conundrum please let me know.

Good Afternoon all! Feeling much better. After I got home from work last night, I buffed my car, cleaned the tires and the windows. It's looking good now. (It took me about an hour, therefore I'll consider that some exercise....LOL)

Debbie: It was a lot of fun talking to you on the phone last night. I can't wait to meet you at Ole Ole!!!
You are a very sweet person!

Candice: I think it's a good idea to combine WW and SB. You will lose weight faster by combining the two and this is a low sugar WOE not a no sugar. Since this is a WOE, you won't gain the weight back after you lose it. If you have a taste for something sweet, there are a ton of recipes using splenda. Welcome and we hope you stay with us!

Gracious: It's nice that you have two months between those holidays. You are lucky. Someday, I'm going to go up there! I miss the snow sooo much!

Jackie: Have lots of fun on your cruise and post some pictures when you return if you can.

Susanne: I don't know if banana bread would be a good choice. The bananas would probably make it high glycemic unless you use green bananas and it is eaten when they are only green. It does sound delicious though. I'll come by and taste test some of your baking if you like! LOL!!

Toni: Great news on accomplishing your fitness goal for the week. Thank you for your well wishes for me. I am feeling better and will start exercising again next week. It's always the first day back to exercising that's a killer!!

Shirley: Oh, man, I would love to drive a 4WD around Hawaii's trails. That would be a vacation of a lifetime! I envy you...

Debdetox: I hear you need some recipes. I have 3 books of Sugar Buster recipes I can email to you if you have Word cause it's formatted in Word documents. You must e-mail me directly at Goldilocks1963@aol.com in order for me to send them to you.

I did finally find a pecan pie recipe from the low carb site:

Southern Pecan Pie

Reminder: This is a Specialty Ingredient Recipe. It requires pre-packaged items as outlined below.

Steel's Vanilla Nature Sweet and Nature's Flavors Splenda sweetened Butterscotch syrup are available from Nature's Flavors.com. (You could probably also use Atkins syrups)

Ingredients: ·
1 unbaked low-carb pie shell(See Pie Crust recipe)

3 eggs ·
1/8 teaspoon salt ·
1 cup Splenda ·
1/4 cup Nature's Flavors (Splenda-sweetened) Butterscotch Syrup ·
1 teaspoon high gluten flour ·
1/2 cup Zero-Carb Maple syrup ·
2 Tablespoons Steel's Vanilla Flavor Nature Sweet * ·
1/4 cup melted butter ·
1 cup pecan pieces

Preheat oven to 300°F.Beat eggs and salt. Mix in flour and Splenda. Gradually add syrups (previously mixed separately in a small bowl.) Beat well. Add melted butter and pecans. Pour into Pie Shell. Add a few decorative pecan halves to the top of pie if desired (I always do.) Bake 45 minutes to an hour. Pie is done when top cracks. Total grams in pie (assuming 0 carb crust): 41 - Cut into 8 pcs: 5.1 grams per slice.

Pecan Pie Crust
2 cups of ground pecan halves
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon of salt
(I would add a little Splenda)

* Grind nuts.
* Mix with butter or margarine and salt.
* Spread in the bottom of a pie pan or spring form pan. * Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Serving Suggestions: This is a great crust for a cheesecake or other pie. It adds a great flavor. Save some pecan halves to decorate the top of your pie or cheese cake.

This sounds delicious. Never tried it, but found it and thought I would pass it on. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Thanks for all of the responses, guy and gals!

I guess I should go buy the sugarbusters book and read it. I like that I'm losing a lot on atkins, but some weeks I go nuts... it seems unreasonable that i can't even eat a banana or other fruits.

anyways, i'll go read the book and i'll probably post more questions on this board!

I mentioned once on the atkins friends board that these are the friendliest bb's that i've ever participated in. in some of the other ones, you're ignored until you've posted 100 times...

Thanks! :)

Happy Friday!

I've been enjoying reading all of the good recipes posted this week. I can't wait to try some of them.

I appreciate all the good wishes that were sent for my sons' surgery. It went well on Tuesday but we won't really know until the nerve heals if the feeling will be restored in his left hand. Dr. said this was very unusual and rare for a kid of 17 to have. He had to make two, 6 inch incisions - one by the elbow and the other in the hand, to get to the nerve at both ends. Joel had a lot of pain with it afterwards, but seems to be doing better today. I've really had to force myself to be kind to him this week, considering how mean and hateful he always is, especially since he doesn't seem grateful for anything I do to help him. I do love him, in spite of him self.

Denise - I agree with you - cleaning the car is definitely exercise. I feel like I've had a hard workout after I do mine. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Toni - hope you have a nice trip to visit your brother. I have a brother that lives about 40 min from Denver, in Golden. I've never been to visit him but hope to one day.

Jackie - You sure are a sweet wife to sit in the freezing cold to watch a football game with your husband. Hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise. I will miss your input on the board next week, but will be thinking of you having fun in the sun.

Tranquil is coming over tonight after work to help me do some things around the house. We are planning to have a SB legal dinner and then watch a movie - maybe the Ya Ya Sisterhood. The weekends have been the most difficult for me to stay OP lately, but I'm planning to do so this time.

There is no way I can get caught up with all the posts, so hello to everyone. Have a great weekend.

Take Care,
Wendy

WOW! I think this is the most I've posted in a week in a LONG time!

I'm pooped! Just finished making a big pot of chili and another of spaghetti sauce, then divided them up into meal servings. We have a friend who just had surgery on one hip and still needs a hip replacement on his other hip, so he's having a hard time getting around during recovery. His wife (my best friend) works full time. So I figured this might help them out a bit since she must be exhausted from working and all the household chores. I've also got some quiches, fried rice and banana bread for them.

Speaking of banana bread--I'd still like to hear other's opinions on this.

TONI-- ---Thanks for your input. I know banana's are a no-no, but I wasn't sure about banana bread since I have seen it with a moderate GI. I was wondering if the ingredients did something--like the ingredients reaction in sourdough bread change the chemical makeup of the ingredients therefore making it legal. I agree with CHERYLCO--take some triscuits, celery, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli--whatever you like.

DAYBREAKER--WELCOME! Sorry I can't answer about the transition from Atkins to SB, but ask away and you'll get your answers. This IS a friendly and supportive bunch:D

DENISE--Too bad you don't live closer or I'd take you up on your offer as taste tester. Thanks for your input on the banana bread. See my answer to TONI. I'm going to have to find a site where I can enter a food and get a GI (I've seen one, can't remember where). I also thought that by using whole wheat flour might help to lower the GI. Your recipe for pecan pie sounds sinful! I love pecans.

DEBDETOX--WELCOME to you! DEBELLI has just started to sort out a couple of years worth of recipes, but if you try to sift thru the recipe boards, you might be able to find something. I have a couple of books I'll check, but I don't have them here just now.

SEF--I'm tired just reading how much you do! Take it easy so you don't burn out.

GRACIOUS--MINUS 13C?!!!!!!! YIKES! It's actually about PLUS 13C here. I like the snow and winter, but don't know if I'd want it around from now!

Back to the chores. Gotta tidy up a bit and then figure out some legal snacks to have around. We're celebrating 2 birthdays this weekend!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Here are two recipes from a recent Oprah show that I plan on trying for Thanksgiving:

Bourbon Turkey
Recipe created by Carolyne Roehm
From the show Oprah Gives a Party

Here's a recipe for a succulent turkey. It calls for bourbon, but you can use apple cider if you wish.

INGREDIENTS
One 16-lb. kosher turkey
1/4 cup Herbs de Provence
2 yards of cheesecloth
2 to 3 cups bourbon
3 tbsp olive oil
salt and pepper to taste

24 Hours in advance:
Soak one yard of cheesecloth in bourbon and stuff into turkey cavity.
Rub Herbs de Provence under the skin of the turkey.
With a kitchen needle and thread, tack the skin back on the breast securely with just a few stitches.
Wrap the turkey with remaining cheesecloth and soak the cloth with remaining bourbon.
Marinate in the refrigerator for 24 hours, turning the turkey over 4-6 times.

Next Day:
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F.
Remove the cheesecloth from the outside of the turkey and stuff it into the cavity with the other cheesecloth.
Rub turkey with olive oil, salt and pepper.
Bake at 275 degrees F. for five hours, basting frequently.

Smashed Sweet Potatoes with Apples
Recipe created by Ina Garten
From the November, 2002 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine
Serves 15–20

Sick of the same old yams? Sweet potatoes and apples add a colorful, crunchy twist to your holiday table!

I plan to use Agave instead of the brown sugar.

INGREDIENTS
8 pounds (about 12 large) sweet potatoes
1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1 cup heavy cream
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, melted
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper

6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) butter
6 McIntosh or Macoun apples, peeled, cored, and cut into eighths
6 tablespoons light brown sugar

Preheat oven to 375°. Scrub potatoes, then prick several times with a knife or fork. Bake 1 hour, or until very soft when pierced with a knife. Combine orange juice, cream, butter, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.

Remove potatoes from oven. Once cooled, scoop out the insides with a spoon. Place 1/2 of sweet potato meat into the bowl of an electric mixer. Add 1/2 of juice-and-cream mixture, blend until combined but not smooth, and pour into a large baking dish. Repeat with remaining potatoes and juice-and-cream mixture, and add to baking dish.

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add apple wedges and brown sugar; cook about 10 minutes, turning apples occasionally, until lightly browned on both sides. Place on top of sweet potatoes and bake 30 minutes, until heated through. (Note: If refrigerating before baking, cook 45 minutes, or until heated through.)

Just about ready to get out of here

Going to catch up one last time.

Zanne, I would be eating way too much of the goodies too. Last yaer we baked all non-legal things, but I never even licked a finger. This year it might be a little more tempting. I think I will try a few legal things. Deb or someone had some cookies posted that sounded good. How sweet of you to help out your friend with dinners. I don't think banana bread is legal either. But it is good. Have a great weekend and watch out for those parties and the cake. You can do it I know.

Toni, for the plane take some peanuts or pb on triscuts. Apple in your purse. At your DB stick to veggies and meats and salads and you will do fine. Keep up that willpower to resist the goodies. You can do it. Have a great trip!

Bob, Please keep me in your thoughts and I will be ok. I will feel the vibes! Pull for the cats on the 16th for me, they play Vandy. Should be a win.

Sef, You are just one busy bee. You need to rest some and take care of yourself. If you have Krogers down there, I buy their private selection Spaghetatinie (sp)

Debdetox, Welcome to our board. We have a recipe section which is full of goodies. Good for you and DH on your loss. That is great. It is better when you get into cooking and trying new things.

Denise, Can you come by my house and wash my car. It is filthy!

Serene, Of course you were nice to Joel, you are his mother and mothering comes natural. Hope he is feeling better soon. Have a great time tonite and I know you can stay legal all weekend. You help eath other.

OK gals, I'm outta here. I'll miss you all. See ya the 18th.

Ok, I've spent a half hour looking up GI lists. I've found banana bread listed between 47-55. I'm assuming this is banana bread made with white flour and sugar. So if I change the flour to WW and use unsweetened apple sauce instead of sugar, would that lower the GI?

I remember SB book saying that Bananas were a no-no. Unfortunately, I borrowed both the SB and Montignac book from the library and don't have them for reference to see why bananas are not OP.

I've got a few opinions from some of you, but can someone help me out with the whys and wherefores, please?

I have a couple of dozen bananas in my freezer and want to use them up. I suppose that I can still make the loaves my new way and give them away--they'll just be a lot healthier for those who recieve them!:s:

Good afternoon. You guessed it...I'm still behind but I was reading Zanne's post and wanted to share. This is just my opinion and could be way wrong....but it works for me. *smile* When I read my first SB book....I didn't get it that you could never eat certain fruits or veggies. They were just the ones to avoid. So to me if all your other ingredients were SB legal the bananas in the bread would be okay for a treat. Especially if you are near or close to goal. The heavier I was the more strick I was with myself. I think you know which things will be triggers and which things would just be a nice treat. :)

My bad is chips...ugh....struggling with them lately because I just crave the salt. I was sitting here at the computer thinking..I am a CARB junkie..I need help...LOL Seriously...if I allow myself more than the occassional chip or two I'm asking for trouble cause I just want more. Other things like a bite or two of rice doesn't phase me.

I think Sugar Busters is the best Way of Eating out there...even when I don't follow it as strict as I should. I'm leading up to Christmas :) there is some banana pudding with my name on it. I have to figure out a way this year to make it more legal...any ideas on the vanilla wafers? Gotta have some sort of wafer or it just aint the same.

I sure miss reading on a daily basis...I'm kinda blah right now...that might be one reason I'm skipping no the board more than I should. Each of you are a treasure and I appreciate all the support and input this board has.

Be encourage...have hope...and work toward the goal.

Evening y'all. Just sitting here listening to our high school football game on the radio. We're winning against our arch rivals.:D Good news on the car. The other woman's insurance has taken full responsibility and will pay for all damages. They will also provide us with a car to drive while ours is being repaired. For some reason my eating has not been good the last couple of days.:yikes: I've got to get back on track.

COUNTRY: I don't even think about chips or any other starchy carbs much. It's still those sweets, especially chocolate, that get me.:eek:I'm with you. I think this WOE is the best. But I am afraid that I will overindulge this holiday season.

BOB: Gee.....thanks.

HI MERCY:)

DEBDETOX: Welcome to the board. You'll love it here. :grouphug:

ZANNE: How lucky your friend is to have you to help out. I don't know about bananas. I eat one every once in a while.

SERENE: Glad your son's surgery went well. Hope you and Tranquil have a good time tonight. I would love to see YaYa Sisterhood. Give me a review. The sweet potato recipe looks wonderful.:T

DAYBREAKER: Welcome aboard. I tried Atkins a few years ago, but didn't even make it two weeks. It's just too restrictive for me. SB is a much more reasonable WOE that you can stick with for life.

DENISE: Glad to hear you are feeling better. I agree that all that car washing/buffing should count for your exercise.:)

TONI: Haven't done much walking lately.:( I would really like to have a treadmill. We had one many moons ago. Maybe for Christmas.....

Well, it's half time so I guess I better get something done before the second half. Have a good weekend.

Good evening everyone! I am much improved tonight. My throat is almost normal, only cold drinks bother it, and I am not feeling terribly tired. I am still resting and reading most of the time though. I did take my daughter up for her auto immune panels at the lab this morning. The lab lady was going to my doctors right after we were there and was going to tattle on me being out! Uh oh!

Watched a movie tonight.. Rat Race. It was funny, in a silly slap stick way. I love Rowan Atkinson, and he was in it.

I tried to be totally SB legal today, but had a can of chicken noodle soup for lunch, and popcorn while watching the movie. Is popcorn ok? Did I read that someplace, or am I being wishful....

Guess I will hit the bed. I did not get in any naps today, so I feel a bit tired! Sweet dreams!

We made it back home tonight safe & sound. Had a nice trip & good visit with DH's family in Oklahoma & in Arkansas too, then we passed & saw my niece & new great nephew in Monticello, AR on our way home today. Shaaa he's so cute. Had finished his crochet blanket during our trip so we were able to deliver that to my niece.

Have lots to do, so just wanted to say hi & let everyone know that we're back home.

Here's a little FF I had in my email. Thought it was cute & wanted to share.

I don't do the horescope thingy, but I found this too
funny not to share just for the reading
,lol..........Hugz

What's Your "Southern Sign"? Some of us (especially
Southerners) are pretty skeptical of horoscopes, and
it has become obvious that what we need are "Southern"
symbols:

OKRA (Dec 22 - Jan 20) Although you appear crude, you
are actually very slick on the inside. Okras have
tremendous influence. An older Okra can look back
over his life and see the seeds of his influence
everywhere. Stay away from Moon Pies.

CHITLIN (Jan 21 - Feb. 19) Chitlins come from humble
backgrounds. A chitlin, however, can make something
of himself if he's motivated and has lots of
seasoning. In dealing with Chitlins, be careful.
They can erupt like Vesuvius. Chitlins are best with
Catfish and Okra.

BOLL WEEVIL (Feb. 20 - Mar 20) You have an
overwhelming curiosity. You're unsatisfied with the
surface of things, and you feel the need to bore deep
into the interior of everything. Needless to say, you
are very intense and driven as if you had some inner
hunger. Nobody in their right mind is going to marry
you, so don't worry about it.

MOON PIE (Mar 21 - Apr 20) You're the type that spends
a lot of time on the front porch. It's a cinch to
recognize the physical appearance of Moon Pies. Big
and round are the key words here. You should marry
anybody who you can get remotely interested in the
idea. It's not going to be easy.
This might be the year to think about aerobics.
Or---maybe not.

POSSUM (Apr 21 - May 21) When confronted with life's
difficulties, possums have a marked tendency to
withdraw and develop a don't-bother-me-about-it
attitude. Sometimes you become so withdrawn, people
actually think you're dead. This strategy is probably
not psychologically healthy but seems to work for you.
One day, however, it won't work, and you may find
your problems actually running you over.

CRAWFISH (May 22 - June 21) Crawfish is a water sign.
If you work in an office, you're always hanging around
the water cooler. Crawfish prefer the beach to the
mountains, the pool to the golf course, the bathtub to
the living room. You tend to be not particularly
attractive physically, but you have very, very good
heads.

COLLARDS (June 22 - July 23) Collards have a genius
for communication. They love to get in the "melting
pot" of life and share their essence with the essence
of those round them. Collards make good social
workers, psychologists and baseball managers.
As far as personal life goes, if you are Collards,
stay away from Moon Pies. It just won't work. Save
yourself a lot of heartache.

CATFISH (July 24 - Aug. 23) Catfish are
traditionalists in matters of the heart, although
whiskers may cause problems for loved ones. You
catfish are never easy people to understand. You
prefer the muddy bottoms to the clear surface of life.
Above all else, Catfish should stay away from Moon
Pies.

GRITS (Aug. 24 - Sept. 23) Your highest aim is to be
with others like yourself. You like to huddle
together with a big crowd of other Grits. You love to
travel though, so maybe you should think about joining
a club. Where do you like to go? Anywhere there is
cheese or gravy or bacon or butter or eggs. If you
can go somewhere where they have all these things,
that serves you well.

BOILED PEANUTS (Sept. 24 - Oct. 23) You have a
passionate desire to help your fellow man.
Unfortunately, those who know you best---your friends
and loved ones---may find that your personality is
much too salty, and their criticism will probably
affect you deeply because you are really much softer
than you appear. You should go right ahead and marry
anybody you want to because in a certain way, yours is
a charmed life. On the road of life, you can be sure
that people will always pull over and stop for you.

BUTTER BEAN (Oct. 24 - Nov. 22) Always invite a
Butter Bean, because Butter Beans get along well with
everybody. You, as a Butter Bean, should be proud.
You've grown on the vine of life, and you feel at home
no matter what the setting. You can sit next to
anybody. However, you, too, shouldn't have anything
to do with Moon Pies.

ARMADILLO (Nov. 23 - Dec 21) You have a tendency to
develop a tough exterior, but you are actually quite
gentle. A good evening for you? Old friends, a fire,
some roots, fruit, worms and insects. You're not
concerned with today's fashions and trends.
You're not concerned with anything about today.
You're really almost prehistoric in your interests and
behavior patterns. You probably want to marry another
Armadillo, but Possum is another somewhat kinky,
mating possibility.

Good morning everyone. Its a gloomy day here. Need to dig my suit case out for my trip on Tues. Wish I could decide on a winter coat. Go stylish in my black leather or wear my old down coat I'm sick of. And my DH is no help at all. Hope I can get out and walk while I'm there to make up for the treadmill. Ut oh that probably is my coat answer..

debdetox- Glad to see you here. Welcome to the board. You'll love the friendship and encouragement you find on this board.

Jack-K- Guess we'll both be out of here and hope we come back refreshed and happy......

Mercy- Howdy.... Hope you're doing okay...

Zanne- Yep you're right bananas are a no no. Sure would make great gifts at Christmas. A nice loaf of banana bread.

Bob- Oh my gosh you're killing me. I'm going to wash my hands right now...... yucky poo..... Poo did I touch that.....?????

CountryMom- Make yourself post more often, it will sure help you stay on SB better. You're so close to your goal and so fun to read about...

music teach- Hope your school went on the win the game. Hope you have a restful week-end. Yes a treadmill would be a great Christmas present.

Monet- You sound so much better, I'm so glad for you. I think 1 cup of air popped popcorn is legal.

Melf- Glad you had a good time on your trip. Love your southern horscope....

CandiceJ- Just adjusting your own recipes is good. And if you love to bake then you can think up some great ones. We also have great recipes here. Try Deb's crustless cheese cake. Yummy..

aleka- Is that maple syrup sugar free? SB isn't really a low carb way of eating. Here you can have 2 to 3 starchy carbs a day which makes it a wonderful eating plan. You aren't missing out on anything except sugar, white flour, white rice, and white pasta. You can substitue whole grain wheat for all of that. Its so healthy to eat this way.

Guess it time to go and eat breakfast...

I'm still depressed over that UK-LSU game. Sure thought we had pulled an upset. It's not over until it's over sure is true here.
My DD called and said they were already out on the field and didn't know we didn't win. What a heartbreaker.

County, Sorry you are feeling blah. Maybe come to the board more and we can cheer you up.

Fruite, What a game. I was so afraid something like that was going to happen. Congrats to the tigers.

Music, That is good news on your car repairs. Hope your team won.

Monet, glad you are feeling better today. Popcorn (airpopped) in moderation I think is ok

Melf, glad you had a nice trip and are home safe and sound. BTW, I'm a Chitlin!

I couldn't believe the end of the Ewe Kay --El Ess Ewe game. What an ending. Jackie, I know that was pretty upsetting. My greatest sympathies. The Gators did that once in the early 90's up at UK and it was probably the same feeling for the Cats then, too. They have been such a valiant team this year!
Congrats, Fruit.
BOB, we were yelling for the VOLs. I wish they could have pulled it off. All of the SEC would have been dancing a jig for y'all if you had done it.
Been doing OK food-wise, except for tonight. Had fajitas over at my DS's and topped it off with some red wine with a bowl of chocolate ice cream. Ummm, wine and chocolate. Nothin' better!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:

Just got my butt out of bed and still, I'm tired. The phone didn't stop waking us up last night, once was one of Lauren's friends parents, after midnight saying she was on the way to get her daughter, the other 2 were from SB'S for ELI. Tired and not in the mood to even go for a walk, which of course isn't good in more ways than one, esp. since this will give me 3 days in a row of no exercise, but I just don't have it in me, at least at this time.

It's back to the heat down here and we'll probably be seeing record highs for most of the week. The cool front didn't last long, I blinked and it just seemed to disappear. One day is more of a fluke than a cold front!

Tried to get on the board to post on Friday and couldn't. I see I wasn't the only one who wasn't able to do so either. I guess they are having some troubles with the board which is probably why they are going to change servers again.

There were a TON of garage sales down here yesterday. I didn't find anything too exciting but got a few things I was looking for, esp. the Tupperware I've been hoping to find, the modular mates, I got 22 pieces (all with lids) for $8.00-not bad. My DM came over after she went in her area and went out with me in my area and was happy to find a monitor for her computer for $15. Her's was all green and the new one is 17", so she was happy. Just some other odds and ends. So many out there and not enough time to hit the all-I should have such problems daily;)

ELI was suppose to be off until late afternoon and now, he had to go to work and won't be home til after midnight. This is the 3rd day he's doing this, it's getting old and annoying and I think that's just not my feelings, he looks tired and worn out. I don't think he has a day off until Wednesday. Not sure what plans I'll make today.

Scale is up for me. I had a bad day on Friday, the worst ever, I won't go in to the gorey and horrifying details. I truly believe I was possessed somehow, it wasn't me that ate all that crap, but I'm surely the one paying the price. I'm up 2.5lbs from WIW! I was back OT yesterday 100% and will do the same today. Thank goodness I didn't wake up feeling like I did the other day when this all took place, trust me, it wasn't a pretty sight at all!

Going to try and catch up with some replies, I'm way behind...

CANDICE http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign4.jpg First off, CONGRATS for maintaining your weight for a year now, I know it's just has hard as trying to lose as I've been at goal for 1 1/2 years now. I think many of the gals on the board have given you their opinions about SB and I'll just throw my 2 cents in...you can have something "sweet" on SB, esp. if you are at goal, as long as you are one of those people who can keep things in moderation, I'm one who finds it hard to stop when I start. For instance, you are allowed high cocoa content chocolate (60% cocoa or higher, I got 70% and higher myself) and you can have a half ounce up to 3 times a week. You can bake with agave and make delicious desserts, like my CRUSTLESS CHEESECAKE, so there's really no reason you can't have sweets, in moderation, of course;) As for ingredients being hard to find, the only ingredient that may be difficult for people to get is the agave, otherwise there's nothing else that you can't get in a regular/HFS.

GRACIOUS, I guess it's a good thing to have TG a little earlier there than we do here in the States, you definitely have more time! I'm dreading this years season, I think Hanukkah starts the end of THIS month-I don't even want to check! I really am only buying for the kids and my nieces so it shouldn't be too bad. Something small for ELI, a token gift, for Hanukkah, but otherwise he has to wait for Xmas!

ZANNE, if you can get away with using bananas that aren't overly ripe that in itself will lower the GI of them. I think if you just keep things in moderation, you'll be okay. I remember BEACHFAN, an old board member, she ate bananas the entire time she was on SB and made it to goal-what bothers one may not bother another-so go ahead and try, just remember, moderation...

TONI, when we went on our last plane trip, I packed a lunch in one of the kids old lunch totes-it smelled ,and I'm sure tasted, a lot better than what the rest of the plane was eating! It's not only easy to plan ahead but you feel a sense of pride for having done so. As for a treat once in a while, I wish I could easily let my guard down once in a while. I need to learn that it can't become an all day affair though, something I've never been able to conquer. Have a wonderful trip and a great time at your brothers!! Check in if you can!!!

SEF, sounds like you are back to being a busy beaver!

DEB, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg Sounds like you and DH are doing wonderful on SB-CONGRATS! You are going to find that using WW flour will provide a more dense cookie. You could try using the white wheat flour they have out now-King Arthur makes it, it's not as strong of a wheat taste as traditional ww flour. I have thousands of recipes so if you can give me an idea of what you are looking for I'll try to see if I can locate something that would fit the bill. If you haven't tried my CRUSTLESS CHEESECAKE you should, you're family will love you forever for that one, just ask the gals on the board, it's a true winner!

DENISE, was great to finally have the chance to speak with you as well the other day. I'm sure we'll be meeting up one day soon. I think we have a lot more in common than we have found already-like OLE OLE, geez, anyone who loves it as much as we do just HAS to be great!
Will call you soon!

SOLSHINE, a post AND an e-mail! Boy, that's too much for my heart in one weekend. Now, a phone call soon-I just may faint!:faint:

DAY, no need to reall buy the book, check it out at the library, it's an easy read. While there, get MICHAEL MONTIGNAC'S BOOK, EAT YOURSELF SLIM and read that as well, he explains things in better detail than the SB does. BTW, there are quite a few other Texans on the board, so I'm sure they'll be giving you a true Texan welcome as they see you more on here. Thanks for acknowledging our friendliness-it's contagious!:D

SERENE & TRANQUIL, glad to had the chance to talk to you last night-wish I was there with you, I feel like I'm really missing out when you two get together! SERENE, glad to hear Joel is doing better.

COUNTRY, I have the same problem, but not with starchy carbs, but the sweets. There are certain times of the month that your body will crave a certain type of food. Sometimes if you can increase your protein, it will help. Sometimes your body just needs more salt and your brain thinks it has to come in the way of chips. Try making something salty that's legal and see if that doesn't help, maybe peanuts. We all go through this. I don't think there's anything wrong with eating some special foods on Thanksgiving, I for one plan on having some of the cookies Lauren makes and I know that I can't and won't eat just one but I'm hoping that the next day I'll be able to get right back on plan-that's the key! Hmmm, a sub. for vanilla wafers...I know they have lower fat ones out there, but I think you may be able to make your own sb legal ones, I'll have to check and see if I have a recipe, I do think I remember seeing one, but if not, use what you can and don't worry about it. I think if you are gearing up for this and really look forward to this dish, if it doesn't taste the way you've had it in the past you won't be happy-I personally think you should make it the way you know you like it and enjoy it.

MONET, popcorn IS okay, in moderation of course, not like me when I eat the whole bag. Of course, you want the type that doesn't have a bunch of crap in it either. BEARITOS is the best, corn and salt, nothing else.

ALEKA, as mentioned, SB isn't a low carb WOE at all, low/no sugar yes, but not low carb. If you like a certain SF Maple tasting syrup than go for it. You can also use agave as a syrup, which is what my kids like using. You can also make fruited syrups out of fresh fruits.

BOB, GO CANES!!!!:D

MELF, don't you worry, I'm sure the few pounds you've gained will slide right back off. Heck, I gained 4lbs over night. At least you enjoyed yourself and did it over a week, unlike me:^:

FRUIT, WTG on losing 6 of those pounds - more to come, I'm sure! Will try to give you a call soon.

Well, I'm caught up. To those I didn't reply directly too, I send you a heartfelt "HELLO!".

Michael is up and we're going to go up to Broward today. I'm sure Lauren will come as well. Not sure if anyone else will join us (like my DM or a friend of the kids). Michael wants to look at an electric guitar as his Hannukah present. Lunch at OLE OLE for sure! Maybe the mall-who knows. As long as I stay OP, that's what I'm looking to do today!

Have a wonderful day!

I am trying so hard to get back to walking like I should. Yesterday was day one and I went back to square one...just one mile. Fixing to do that again in a minute or two. I think I just burned out. I was so faithful for 16 months. Thanks for the tips on the banana pudding. Except for sugar free pudding I think I will make it the same and just enjoy. Last year there was so much guilt...but of course that didn't stop me. :)

Jack-K if you haven't left yet....have a SUPER trip!

Thank you Toni for your encouragement..all of ya'll are so supportive and it really helps.

See ya'll on Monday's board..and I am gonna do my best to actually keep up and participate.

Love,
Crystle

Thanks DEB....I'm gonna go check out your cheesecake recipe and see how many pts it is!LOL Which one is it???? Does it say crustless I saw several of them on the recipe thread??????

I like the idea of staying away form the "while stuff" just thought SB might give me a gudieline for that but I could never give up WW now since it has worked for me. I have tried tons of programs and this has woked cause I did not have to eliminate any one food. I see that Bananas are a no no....Hummmmmm are there many no no's on SB?????? I keep checking in here to see if I can pick up any new info while I am trying to decide wehat to try. Thanks again, I can be a pain with my questions!;)
