Nikki I would love for you to post that recipe. Then I can test drive it before making them for Christmas. Thanks :)

Mauvaisroux,
I just posted it. Make them really small, they become a lot bigger when they hit the oil, plus if you try to make them too big, they don't cook in the middle. I got a kick out of these and they're easy.

How is everyone doing this week? I am off induction, thank god. I know you are supposed to add carbs in small increments but to be honest I am going to just allow myself unlimited veggies (of the good kind of course) and maybe some berries...mmmm those sound good!
I think I got myself into a little trouble with the Atkins Advantage bars. I noticed that they made me feel a little sick. I ate one pretty much every day last week and did not lose that much weight. So I'm going to swear off them, especially now that I am going to allow myself some fruit (maybe one serving per day, mostly berries and apples).
Last night I made a spagettie squash casserole with olive oil, s&p, tomato paste and cheese - boy it was good. Also cooked up some chicken breasts and broccoli for the week. I am craving the additional vegetables!
I did cheat yesterday - I ate a big grab size bag of Doritos and had a couple of (light) beers. But I still weighed the same this morning so that's good. I'm at 149 now, and my goal is to be at 143 by the end of November. I'll get there!!
How's everyone doing?

Hi Tilly,
I have the same problem with the bars. At first, it was one once in awhile, then everyday, then I was unconsciously eating them a couple of times a day. I just have to leave them alone. Somersizers eat their fruit in the morning, since they're higher carbed. That way, you have all day to work off the carbs. To me, that just makes sense and is a good way to get some extra energy to start the day with.
Good going with the weight loss, your almost there!

It's been snowing most of the afternoon. I have no idea if we're to get any accumulation. If we're having snow this early, I'm wondering if we'll have a white Thanksgiving.
I cooked the Jicama. It was horrible:p It seemed to take forever to cook. It was just a little bit soft when we mashed it, and it reminded me of turnips. I still prefere the celery root.
Hi Tilly, and welcome. The spaghetti squash casserole sounds yummy. Congratulations on being near your goal. You're lucky..I still have a ways to go.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Aleka

Good evening ladies! I am working on DAY 2 of On Plan eating! Tonight has been hard, kinda in small 'debates' with the husband, always makes me wanna eat...but I will manage. I have decaf coffee brewing. Keeps me from reaching for something bad and helps me stay sane.
I have to make a confession. I haven't put my Gazelle together. Eeek! Hoping this will shame me into the assembly! I HATE to put things together. I hoped to whine enough that I would find it magically assembled by the husband, but it didn't work!
Ok, off to pour that coffee before I get antsy.

Good evening ladies!
I'm feeling a bit under the weather here. My office was so cold we had to leave early. It must have been in the low 60's. Brrr! I'm getting that 'lost weight so now I'm cold' feeling as well. I tried to come home, but had workmen doing some repairs, so I got no rest! End of complaint :)
Jennifer... I had to pace myself putting my exercise thingys together. I finally decided that the putting together was going to be my exercise for however many days it took. I always get very disgusted when bolt C doesn't go in hole C because it was drilled wrong. I'm not good enough with tools to get these things fixed easily. But, it eventually gets done. I hope yours does too.
Tilly, I'm one of those who eats the non-starchy veges pretty regularly. I also stay very clear of those snack bars and things. This time I'm also limiting my cheese and sour cream quota. It's funny what I will pig out on if given the opportunity! I've gotten into my daily snack of blueberries and strawberries (low carb fruits). I didn't have any tonight and immediately ate several servings of nuts....sigh! I think my appetite is a 3 year old sometimes.
Nikki, I like Jicama as raw crudites. Cut in matchsticks and use as a dipper in a yummy sauce. It is good with sorta sweet salads too. I can't think that too much at once would be desirable, but more as an accent.
Mauvisroux and Nikki, the doughnut things sound great.
Well, it is warming up here finally with the heater on and the kit kats purring. See you soon!

ALEKA, just a quickie as I'm going to bed...
Just saw your post and wanted to let you know I moved it over to the WEEKLY SUPPORT BOARDS, where we tend to congregate the most, so more can see your post:D Hope you don't mind. I'm going to copy it right on to the weekly board tomorrow morning so it will be on that board instead of just it's own thread.

Evening everyone!
It has been snowing all day-I am sooo not ready for winter!
DH and I went out to buy him winter boots tonight and we came home with not only the boots but 3 shirts for him and 6 winter tops for me  I felt guilty for spending but I really needed some clothes for work-last year's stuff is TOO BiG :D
It feels so amazing to say that for once
Nikki-thanks for posting that recipe-I am going to try it out soon.
Jennifer- my finger is wagging at you :nono: What if your Gazelle is missing a peice, broken or you can't stand the thing? You won't be able to take it back or exchange it if the receipt is 6 months old  So hop to it girl :drill: build that baby and take it for a test drive!
AnneD: Did you get your son enrolled in a new school yet?
Aleka- ewww! The jicama sounds nasty! Maybe it would work better in a casserole?
Sugeorgia- I laughed when you said low 60's-we were at -3c this morning-I am coming to visit you to warm up
Tilly-congrats on being so close to goal :cp:
 time for bed :cloud9: Goodnight everyone!

Morning Everyone,
DH is working out, in our "exercise room" (daughters old bedroom). I was heading that way, but he walked in there when I stopped in the bathroom. I don't like to exercise at same time as him, because he likes to talk. I like to concentrate on what I'm doing and think about my form/muscles etc. I see him all day, I don't have to visit then too. It's my private time, so guess I'll wait til he's done and then start. He just started to work out a few days ago, and he's already passed me like I'm standing still.
Aleka, it snowed here last night too. Not a lot, but I hate to see it this early. Everyone is talking about how this is going to be a really cold winter and that the price of heating is going to be sky high. I hear what your saying, Su. I am having a hard time adjusting to this different metabolism. I usually can heat a room with my body heat, and I have to have a fan on me all winter. I always figured that when I started to have hot flashes, I just wouldn't notice that much. Just turn the fan up another notch. Well, now, I have to wear shoes and socks and a sweater. I've never been able to wear sweaters before without cooking, even outside when it's below 0 I've always just worn a light jacket, unzipped. :flame:
Jennifer, if it helps, I found the Gazelle to be fairly simple to assemble. I've always had to put my stuff together. DH will, but he whines and B:censored: 's so much, I think it's easier to do it myself. I did the Gazelle in 1/2 hour. The one I got was half assembled anyway. And, I didn't even put parts on the wrong way. I hate it when you put something on backwards and then have to take the whole thing apart and redo it.
Mauvaisroux, new clothes, yeah! A must have when your a new size. I remember a nurse I use to work with that had a stomach bipass. She lost over 100 lbs and still wore the same old 3x clothes til they wore out. They looked aweful and I always wondered why she lost weight in the first place if she didn't want to enjoy the new body. They are really frugal and I have a hard time understanding that idea.
Today is the second day of no low carb bars for me. It was really hard for me to pass them by last night. I'm use to eating one or two a night. I had a salad instead for my late night snack. I still eat in the middle of the night too. I had 1/4 cup of black walnuts. They have such a big taste, I don't need to eat many. I use to sit down and eat a 16 oz. bag of pistachio's in one night. This middle of the night snacking is hard to stop. I get up, go to the bathroom and then, I can't get back to sleep. I keep thinking about being hungery and the more I think about it, the hungerier I get. I don't know what to do about it. Sometimes when this happens during the day, I will do some exercise, but I can't do this in the middle of the night. I watch tv or read, but it doesn't seem to help either. Some old habits are hard to break. At least I'm not eating half the fridge anymore.
Talk to you all later, Nikki

Hello everyone! Happy election day!
My office is still too cold to sit and work. I'm going to have to bring in sheepskin booties! Mauvaisroux.... 60 degrees is the INSIDE temperature :) I dress for it at home, but at work they want us to wear regular clothes.. They may have to face the ugly sight of me in my sweats, socks and bunny slippers if this keeps up! Its actually warmer outside, although raining today.
AnneD I hope the school issues are settled. I was glad to read you are happy with one that you visited. This is such a vital need!
Jennifer- congrats on your on-plan eating. It took me a long time to get back once I'd gotten off track before. I'm not sure why it is so hard at times.
Nikki- guys are so funny about diet and exercise. Most that I've known could just decide to lose weight or start exercising and go from 0 to goal in no time. I guess it is all that muscle hanging out and burning energy! It's hard to grab your private time. I'm that way, I just seem to need so much time to myself. I admire you guys who can work at home with your spouses and stay married!
Nikki, I used to sit around under the a/c all winter. Now, I find I get cold and stay cold! Brrr! Good for you on breaking the bar habit (that doesn't sound right :) ) I have one carbo treat every night (strawberries) and that helps me sleep. I'm not sure which plan you are doing. Maybe decaf with lots of cream and some Splenda? Hope you find a key!
See you all! Su

Good Morning All:
Nikkic, I am so jealous of you!!! 30 minutes on your gazelle:bravo:
By the time I get in at night I am wiped. I get up each day at
4:30 am by the time I wash, dry and curl my hair, do my make-up
and so on I need a jet to get me work!! I leave at 6:30 am so I
don't have time to spare. I am going to make it my goal to get up
at 4:00 so I can fit my gazelle in.
My husband is now down to 170 from 195. I am so proud of him.
He could not stick to a diet anyway anyhow. He will be starting
level 2 very soon, so we will see how that goes.
Suzanne Somers will be on line tonight at 8:00 if anyone is
interested.
I better get back to work before  bossy catches me and has
my hide on a plater.
Anne.

Will be going to vote after lunch. We live in such a small town that our polls don't open until 11:30 am.
My weigh in was this morning. I stayed the same. I honestly don't mind because last week was just one of those weeks. I'm just happy I didn't gain.
ANNE D, good for your husband losing so fast. The same thing happened when DH & I were Somersizing. I really was mad because he lost it so fast and I was losing very...very..very..slowly. Glad you were happy with the school you visited. Hope everything works out for you and your DS. Suzanne is going to be on HSN this coming weekend. I'm going to watch. I can't wait until Jan. when she says she'll have her new cookbook out, Fast & Easy. That's right up my alley!
Su, I too had to laugh at 60 deg. being cold. It's 43 deg. here now, and to me 60 is rather delightful, and sweater/sweatshirt weather. Wait until you see me post we have below 0 temps! But, I honestly cannot take the cold weather anymore. The hotter the better.
nikkic, we got about 1" of snow overnight. DH had to go out and shovel the steps so that they would be clear for the dog to go outside to do her duties. There are certain times of the day I'm warmer and certain times when I am freezing. Usually late afternoon I get so cold I have to wrap myself up in a blanket. I don't know why that is. I also have to run my hands under hot water, even though they say not to do that, but it feels soooo good.
mauvaisroux, you must've had the same storm we did yesterday. Did you get much snow? Congratulations on getting smaller clothes:high: Doesn't that make you feel good? I too am not ready for winter.
Jennifer, have you gotten the gazelle put together yet? I am totally useless when it comes to putting things together. :censored: :headache: I do not read directions very well. Good luck.
Debelli, thank you for moving my post to where it will be seen more. I didn't know exactly where to post my question.
Hope you all have a great day. Aleka

Hi again,
Anne, you are so busy and you have so much to do. I'm on disability/retirement, and I have no kids at home, except for our big baby cat, so I have time on my hands. I don't know how you handle everything and I admire you for it. Still, somehow, I wish you could make time for yourself that doesn't involve sleeping less. I use to feel like I was going as fast as I could through life, it is hard on a person. Take care of you, there is only one.

Goodmorning eveybody,
Day 3 without a low carb bar. I've decided to shake things up a bit on my woe. I've read that if you stall, that your body is now use to the way your eating. So I'm going to shake things up a bit and add in a few extra good carbs the next few days, then back to lower carbs. Not a big change, just some oatmeal in the meatloaf tonight, maybe a piece of fruit or something extra tomorrow. I've been food combining for so long, oatmeal in the meatloaf is a big deal to me. I made it a while back using pork rinds and it just wasn't as good. Kind of tough. How can 1/2 cup of oatmeal divided by 8 servings be that bad anyway?
Su, it's 58 in our house. DH likes it cold when he sleeps, and I never cared before. I'm going to get a little heater to carry around with me from room to room. I even took my fan out of the living room and put it in the basement. It was a historic moment for me, it's never happened before. Good idea about the decaf and cream in the middle of the night. It helped a lot. I also cut up some celery and made a dip for late night snacking to replace the carb bars. It tasted better and was more filling.
Aleka, I'm glad you told me about what happened to you with the torso track. Since then, I've been concentrating even harder on controlling my movements with it. It is so easy to just let myself slide out too far. Then getting back is really too hard. I try to just go to the o in torso. If I'm feeling like I've had enough, I quit.
I'm waiting for DH to get off the treadmill. He asked me yesterday why I didn't work out with him and I told him I like to be alone so I can concentrate on the video, if I'm watching one or what I'm doing. He's such a sweetheart, and completely understood without being hurt or mad.
Sunshine today and warmer weather. The high this weekend could be in the 60's. The gray skys were starting to affect my mood.
Got to go feed the cats before they tear the house down. Talk to you later, Nikki

Hi Folks!
Nikki- I was vindicated in feeling too cold yesterday. One of the guys who is a real outdoorsman- has hiked the entire App. Trail a couple of times, worked on boats out of Alaska, yada yada yada was wearing thick shoes, socks, wool, thermal underwear (he said :o ) and A HAT!! all day yesterday. :) What gets us is the effect of all the moisture + the cool. We sit all day, so there is no way to warm up. But they fixed the heat, plus now I have my hot tea set up... :D
I like to sleep cold at home and rarely turn on the heat until it reaches freezing outside... but this year looks different. Yea for the weight loss! I think your idea of a portable heater sounds good.
I'm glad the coffee and cream worked for you. I really have to have something to sleep on at times. It makes sense.
I'll have to try something like the torso track or the glider. I love to walk, but it is too hard on my feet right now. I'm just doing a bit more each week in terms of activity but nothing really athletic. I'm thinking about signing up for a yoga class here at the hospital.
I hope everyone is having a good day. It looks like our rain is over, which may not be a good thing. Sending warm breezes to all the snow girls out there! Su

We had about 3" of snow overnight. It's very slushy now and messy. DH had to plow this morning, and it was very difficult because the ground hasn't frozen yet. We haven't even raked our leaves yet!!! Our internet service has been down most of the day.
Su, I also like to sleep in a cold room...I love to snuggle down into the covers to feel all warm and cozy:yawn: Yoga is very good exercise I too would like to try it sometime, as it looks like it's a very gentle exercise. My favorite exercise is walking. Now that the weather is cold I do a walking tape w/weighted balls.
nikkic, that's great you going so long without a low carb bar.:bravo: Getting to the O is good. I'm short...5'2", and to the "O" was a good stretch for me. Oatmeal in meatloaf, that's something I'll have to try. I have been known to put Oat Bran in my meatloaf from time to time. I copied your recipe for the doughnuts. They sound YUMMY!!! Thank you for sharing it.

Evening Ladies,
I really over did it today. My ankle is swollen, hot and I'm miserable. It didn't help that when I was changing my pants, I lost my balance and fell over. I can barely walk on it now. I took a couple of pain pills and I'm hoping things will be better tomorrow.
Aleka, I've always put oatmeal in my meatloaf, rather than bread or whatever. It comes out great like that. Sorry to hear about the snow. It is just too early for that. I'm 5' 9", so eventually, I'll get out to the end of the torso track, when I'm stronger and can get myself back from the end.
Su, I just love the Gazelle, you can do it inside and there is no pressure on your joints. It's helped me a lot with stretching my muscles and gives me a good work out too. It makes me feel free. DH prefers the treadmill, he says it makes him work harder. It probably does, but it's also harder on your joints. We also have an Orbitrek, an eleptical machine. It is really hard and I can't do it for more than a few minutes. For one thing, my ankle doesn't bend like that real well. For another, it's just plain hard.
Guess I won't be able to work out tomorrow. DH says he won't let me if I feel better anyway. I could use a day off. I've been exercising everyday. Today I did the gazelle for 30 min., torso track and then lifted free weights for 20 min. Then I cleaned the house. I was starting to feel so good, I forgot to take it slow. I just feel like I've missed so much, I want to do it all at once.
Talk to you all tomorrow, Nikki

Good evening everybody. Nikki, I am sorry about your ankle! I hope you feel better soon.
You all talking about oatmeal in meatloaf makes me want to fix some again. I haven't had it in a long time. I just haven't found a recipe I like that doesn't include baked ketchup on top. Mmmmm. Can't have the sugar though, and can't find sugar free.
I need to make my first order of online low carb goodies. Does anybody have anything they can't live without? Are there any good low carb tortilla chips? If I could find that, then I could use my weekly reward meal on something else, like pasta or Chinese.
You all made me cold reading about sleeping in cold houses. I better go put on some socks...I am not a cold weather chick! Movie time for me...we rented some Robert DeNiro movie called 15 minutes, hope it's good! Have a nice morning, everyone. Fingers crossed that we all have an on-plan day tomorrow!

Jennifer,
I don't put ketchup on top of my meatloaf. I use sugar free ketchup either estee brand, it's in the diabetic section or health section of grocery stores or Suzanne Somers, which you can buy from her website. I really like hers better, but it's pretty pricey, so I use it for hamburgers only. This is how I make my meatloaf- in a large bowl, mix 1 egg, 1 small finely chopped onion, 1 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. pepper, 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/3 cup sugar free ketchup. Add 2 lbs to 2 1/2 lbs. of hamburger, mix it up with your hands. Put it in a bread pan and in a 350 oven for 1 hour 15 min or til it's no longer pink inside. I figure if anybody wants ketchup, they can add it at the table. It's moist and delicious. If you need a sugar free homemade ketchup, I have several recipes, but I've never made any of them yet.
I really like Suzanne Somers ketchup, bbq sauce, chocolate and carmel sauces, her salad dressings are good too. I make my own, but it's nice to have a mix for when your in a hurry. Like I said, her stuff is expensive, but I use it sparingly.

Happy Thursday Morning Ladies!
Nikkic, I sure hope your ankle is better today. I remember how
I felt with my foot a little while back. It can make you feel
miserable!:(
The one thing I am having problems with is buying condiments.
I miss my ketchup etc. In Canada we have very few stores if
any that sell this sort of article. To order from Suzannes site
would break my bank account!!!
My dad got some ugly news yesterday. He had a growth
removed from his head a couple of weeks ago and the doctor
phoned and wants to see him Saturday.
Poor Dad, he has had 4 operations for lung cancer and one for
skin cancer. This has been going on since he was 56. He is now
71. I know alot of people tell me my dad is lucky and I always
reply yes, but at one **** of a price. He has been in ICU so many
times and close to the brink I can't even tell you. He has 1/3
lung on one side and a wedge taken off the other lung, yet he
climbs ladders, trims bushes, walks a couple of miles a day etc.
We feel so depressed especially with his 50th wedding anniversary coming up on the 29th of this month.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Anne.

ANNE, I am so sorry about your Dad. I hope he hears good news on Sat. I will be thinking of you and your family. Have you gone into Suzanne's website to look for a recipe for ketchup? I think pneuman and starlite had a recipe before her website went into overhaul.
nikkic, I am sorry about your ankle. I hope it's better really soon. You probably should rest it for awhile. Your recipe for meatloaf sounds delicious. The next time I make a meatloaf I will put oatmeal in it.
Jennifer, have you ever tried putting a low sugar or no sugar added pasta sauce in your meatloaf? I have found a pasta sauce from Vermont that only has 3 gm of sugar, and I spoon it over my meatloaf. It gives it a nice flavor. I've never tried this, but you could sprinkle some grated Italain cheese over it towards the end, just enough to melt it. I recently was in a low-carb food store and found a cookbook, "The New Eat Yourself Thin Like I Did!" by Nancy Moshier, RN. There are all sorts of recipes for ketchup, cocktail sauce, salad dressings, etc. , and they are quick & easy...so the book says. Unfortunately, I haven't made anything out of it, it's been sitting on my counter:o
I hope everyone has a good day. Aleka

Hi everyone,
Anne, your family must be very strong to have gone through this for so long. I love your dad's spirit. Keep going is the way to be. If you sit around and let things get to you, you can never over come them. He doesn't give up, and that matters a great deal. A determined attitude and the power of positive thinking is more important than a lot of people give it credit. Please let us know how things go. I'll be thinking of and praying for your dad, you and your family.
Thanks for the kind words everyone, I am a lot better today. I was kind of afraid I'd refractured it again. But I'm sure I haven't today. DH will not let me do anything, which is great, but I hope he doesn't try to keep me down too long, I hate that. The weather is great, mid 60's today and by Sat. in the 70's. I will go out and rake leaves tomorrow, even if I have to do it on crutches. I won't be stuck inside missing the last few nice days of weather this year.
I am going to get on the abdoer later and do some pilates (their on the floor, no pressure on my ankle). I've been much better with my woe the last 3 days-more veggies, no carb bars. My weight is still the same, so I think I'm gaining as much muscle as fat loss.
Think I'll check out the recipe section and add the ones you mentioned Aleka, if they're not there already., plus some others I've collected. Anne, I don't think making up a bottle of ketchup is really that hard. I'm not talking about making up enough to can with, just enough for a few weeks in the fridge.
Bye for now, Nikki

It's Friday, the start of a long holiday weekend. DH left earlier this morning for an overnight trip. He'll be back late tomorrow afternoon. I have 2 days to myself:hyper: I know I'll be watching HSN most of the time to see Suzanne. I like watching the antics with Colleen & Suzanne.
Today we are supposed to start getting warmer temps. We still have some snow on the ground, and it looks so messy with the leaves lying ontop of it. We had a lot of wind yesterday which brought down a lot of the leaves and branches.
nikki, hope you get outside and rake. I may do it this weekend too once the snow melts. DH will get to mow one last time, so most of the leaves will be mowed along with the grass:s:
Hi, mauvaisroux, ANNE, Su, & Jennifer
I hope you all have a great long weekend. Any special plans?

Hi Everyone!
Jennifer, the meatloafs I've always made have had the oatmeal and catsup in them too. I think I could do some catsup with tomato paste, a little vinegar and splenda. However, since I also have to eliminate oats now (food sensitivity) I really can't re-figure the loaf part. I wonder if using rice and letting that soak up the juice as it cooks would work... of course, then I'd have to really watch the carbs! Maybe I'll just do a burger :)
Did you see the DeNiro movie "City by the Sea"? It was not highly rated, but a friend and I saw it when it first came out and we really loved it. It's not a 'feel good' film, but it is one of the few drama-types that I liked a lot.
I've been very fortunate lately with good sales on chicken. I bought some (still on bone) for 30 cents a pound this week. It's enough cooked for a week! It is amazing... one dinner at the drive through costs more. Now to keep finding chickie meal ideas!
Anne, I am so sorry about your Dad. 71 is really very young, and he deserves to not have so much worry from cancer. I'm praying with you for good news.
Nikki- I hope your ankle is only on a temporary hiatus. I know how much work it has been for you to heal. Listen to your hubby about taking breaks. If nothing else, it helps you to get stronger sooner. Has the doctor told you the new condition on your ankle?
Aleka, don't go all wild and crazy with the two days on your own! It's fun to kick back and be mellow when you are around someone all the time!
Have a great day everyone! Su

Hi everyone,
Su, I just had to  when you told Aleka not to go wild and crazy with her DH away. Just got a picture in my mind of her doing that and it was just too funny. Wish I could get some good buys on chicken like you have. Food is so expensive, I can hardly believe it. I go see the orthopedic surgeon in a few weeks to get the up date on the ankle. I'm doing a lot better.
Aleka, I'll be watching HSN too, but then I watch it and QVC more than I should. I have to get a life.;) It costs me too much. I'll really be interested to see what new stuff she has for food. I hear the bread machine is going to be available, did you buy one yet?
Anne, hope your doing ok. I've been thinking about you and praying for you. I know it's a real hard time for you and you have a lot on your shoulders all the time.
Going to the store and out to lunch with dd #1. Talk to you all later, Nikki

Nikki, watch for chicken leg quarters to go on sale. Do you have a Super K-Mart nearby? They freqently have them for 29 cents a pound, in 10 pound bags.
Aleka, wowwwww, 2 whole days. I can't imagine the luck! I love my husband dearly, but he works at home and I am never in the house alone.
Su, I will look for a meatloaf recipe for you that has flax seed in it. Supposedly it works well...if I find them, I will post here and in the recipe forum.
Hope everybody else has a great day..I just realized how late it is! I gotta cut short, see you all later!

Just wanted to let you all know that I bought Suzanne's bread machine on HSN last night. I hemmed and hawed about it, but finally gave in. There were a lot of features I liked about it, plus it came with some recipes. I did not buy the bread mixes because I thought they were rather pricey for what you got.
Jennifer, my DH works at home too. We have a little machine shop in our garage. He does the machining, I do the paperwork, plus most of the running around that needs to be done. We are together 24/7 so it's a nice change.
ANNE, I hope that your Dad hears good news today. I am thinking of you.
Su, I haven't gone too crazy yet...only with HSN (heh..heh..heh). Yesterday I curled up with a good book and got some uninterrupted reading done. I plan on doing the same thing today until DH gets home later this afternoon.
Hi mauvaisroux  hope things are will with you.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Aleka

Hi everyone,
Anne, I couldn't have said it better than Aleka. I'll be thinking of you and your dad today too.
Jennifer, there are no Kmarts close to me. Have you put your gazelle together yet? Come on now girl, you can do it, if you haven't.
Aleka, if you find any good bread recipes, let us know. I haven't had any bread since August and I'd like to make some, but I don't want to bother, if it isn't going to turn out good.
Yesterday DD #1 helped me rake leaves. There are so many, we can't mow them. I raked and she hauled them to the edge of the yard to be burnt later this winter. There is about 1/2 acre there that is just kind of scrubbey bushes and undergrowth. DH burns it every winter to try to keep nature from taking over our yard. Today is going to be around 60 something, so I'm going out to do a few more things in the yard before winter. I can hardly believe it is almost here. It lasts so long.
Hi Su and Mauvaisroux. Hope your having good weekends. Bye for now, Nikki

Happy Weekend everyone!
I'm :spin: in circles, it has been a very good day! First, I got to the 20+ lbs mark! I still have a bit to go to 10% of my starting weight, but I really can tell a difference. For one thing, I'm not completely winded by my walk in to work from the parking lot everyday!! Today I went to look at clothes, and I actually had to go to the regular size section of women's to find the sweater I wanted. Yippee! I think that my goal right now is to be able to go into all the women's stores and not find a single thing I could wear... this has been a very long time coming!
Jennifer, I really appreciate you looking for the flaxseed meatloaf for me... I hadn't thought about flaxseed except for that egg and cream cheese sweet dish that I've made a couple of times.
Nikki, you sound so healthy doing all that yard work! I bet it feels good, but I'm sure it is also hard work. I'm glad the ankle is better... I hate being off my feet for any period of time too, I bet you are just so ready to be completely well.
Aleka, going crazy buying bread machines, humm?? :) It sounds good to me! I hadn't been reading about this, I guess I'll have to go to her site and investigate. I hope your mini vacation was fun!
Everyone have fun tonight. I'm off to investigate the fridge and see if anything interesting is there :^:

Good Morning Everyone::wave:
Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. Dad's
results came back category one squamous cell carcicoma. That
is the same cancer he had with his previous lung surgery's I
believe it is also known as small cell cancer.
The doctor did some kind of procedure with lazer which was
really painful and left abit of a hole. He feels this will very likely
be all that is needed.
We are so grateful it was not melanoma.
We went out and raked tons of leaves yesterday. Next Sunday
is the Santa Claus parade in Toronto! The christmas season is
about to go full speed ahead. Lets hope my waistline doesn't
go full speed ahead! I don't know about you but I find
Christmas Shopping very stressful and expensive!!:stress:

Good Morning everyone,
Anne, I'm sorry your dad had to go through that and I hope he's feeling better soon. I'm glad it wasn't melanoma too. Still praying for you all.
I did all my Christmas shopping from hsn and qvc this year. Yes, it can be expensive, but I looked through the clearance stuff. I only have to buy for my 2 DD's and they love jewelry, so I started looking last May and I've been buying a few things every month since then. I'm done with Christmas plus their birthdays-12-29 and 1-27. DH is into his old truck, so all he wants are more parts. Ok dear, I'll get you that rear end you've been wanting for Christmas. Just wish my rear end was looking as good as the trucks will.
Su, if I could buy regular clothes, I'd fill my closet with them. It must just be wonderful for you.
Well, got to go and start to exercise. I haven't had a good work out in awhile and I'm going to go for it today, or as long as I can without injury.
Bye for now, Nikki

Hi,
Just a quick note. Aleka, are you ok? I've been wondering all day because of the bad weather over there. Nikki

ANNE, I'm sorry your Dad had to go through that painful procedure, but that's good news that it wasn't melanoma. You and your family must be so relieved. Christmas seems to be making its way here too. Went to a mall yesterday and it was all decked out with Christmas decorations. It isn't even Thanksgiving yet!
Su, congratulations on the 20+ mark! That's fantastic:bravo: Now you can go wild in the misses section.
nikkic, I'm doing fine, thank you. We've had weird weather. It's been awfully mild, today it hit 71 deg. but we are getting some rain now, which we still desperately need. It's pitch dark out and it's only 4:30. Are you having this weird stuff too?
Yesterday I had the most fantastic shopping day. I got a black leather blazer for $85.00, originally marked at $200.00. I was practically doing cartwheels out the store!
Hi mauvisroux, how are you? We haven't heard from you in awhile. I hope everything is ok with you.
Have a good evening everyone.

Evening eveyone,
Aleka, I'm so glad you wrote back today. I've been watching the news and all the tornado's out your way was worrying me. Yes we've had weird weather too. We had the warm weather that your having, then yesterday it started to turn cold and now today it's 31, gray and windy. Woke up to a fine dusting of snow. I've noticed that getting dark at 430 too. DH can't seem to stay awake after 530pm anymore. Well, he always has taken a nap in the evening before work, but in the summer he'll stay up til 8 or so. He sleeps all day, gets up around 3 or 330 then back to bed at 530pm. Sometimes it's like I'm all alone, but when he's off, I'm never alone. Guess I'm hard to please.
I made chili for supper and it's so good. No beans of course. DH bought some portabella mushrooms to put in it. I can't tell the difference from button, they just have no taste and soak up the spicey flavor.
Hi Mauvaisroux (where are you?), Anne and Su. Hope your all doing well.
Bye for now, Nikki

Good Evening Ladies:
I am so glad you are all safe!! What a nightmare, we seen it
on the news. Just dreadful.
We had extremely bad winds and thunder storms in Toronto last night and our basement was flooded. The problem here is the sewer drains are all plugged up with leaves and the water has
no where to go. I couldn't believe the storm we had, much
worse than anthing we experienced during our summer.
Tonight we are going down to two degrees so it is really getting
cold.
Twenty plus pounds is awsome Su, good job!
:bravo:
Nikkic, I miss chilli, we used to eat it every Saturday night and
I used to look forward to it so much.
Aleka, doesn't it make you feel great when you get a good deal!
I bet your coat is beautiful.
I have kinda decided to give myself a break from the diet on
Christmas Eve and Christmas day. What are you guys going
to do?
Anne.

Hi Everybody! Going to start a new thread if that is ok.
Anne, I didn't know the storms stretched to Canada!? I am in Tennessee, and it got nasty down here. My town was ok, but it was scary not knowing what would happen in the night. There are still 75 people unaccounted for in a town about 3 hours away, so please cross your fingers and send thoughts to them!
I hope your Dad recovers soon, and I will keep him in my prayers that they got it all.
Su! Oh gee, I forgot the flaxseed meatloaf! Eeek! I will post it on the new week's thread and the recipe forum.
Oh, still going very well on plan! I had my weekly off meal on Saturday night, and it wasn't as much fun as I thought it would be. I won't tell you what I ate and make you crave it, but trust me, it was verrrrrrry good, and I was verrrrrrry bloated and carb-yucky afterward.

Hello Everyone!
I have been bery busy for the last few days and unable to post- I am just catching up now.
AnneD- sorry to hear about your dad but thank goodness it wasn't melanoma, sending good healing vibes:goodvibes to your dad.
Aleka-Glad to hear that you are okay and didn't have to deal with the tornadoes. We have had Christmas decorations in the malls since before Halloween  Your coat sounds lovely!
Su-congratulations on hitting the 20lb mark :hat: It must have felt great to buy that sweater!
Nikkic-that chili sounds yummy, the portobello mushrooms are a great idea :chin: hmmm...may have to steal that one...
We have had crazy weather here too. One day it was -22 c with the wind and the next day it felt like spring! Today it was +16c (4 more degrees and we would be calling it summer:lol: )
We bought my parents a new microwave for Christmas. They don't really need anything or stuff to clutter up the house so when my Mum said her microwave was dying  :gift: and we found a good deal on one at Costco.
Anne-you were asking about Christmas....We have an open house on Christmas eve that is basically a big cocktail party . I haven't decided what to make yet. I know DH is making his famous spicy meatball dish but other than that  I am going through my Somercize books to see if I can come up with some appetizers and dips that are low carb.
I am planning on using the turkey with mushroom sausage stuffing recipe from the SS book "Eat Great, Lose Weight" . My Mum always makes trifle for dessert so I have decided that will be my big treat that day. I will probably have wine or a couple of Martinis too
