I had a long nap earlier today, in case you're wondering why I'm up so late! I'm in the process of making some changes to my life. I want to move to another State, namely California since I've been there before. One thing that hasn't changed is my dedication to having a healthier body! I will post a pic of myself when I get to 100lbs lost, which is a huge landmark! I've got 74lbs left to go to reach that stage! I can't wait till next week Thursday to see if I'm under 300 for the first time in ages! I weigh in at my PCP's office on 11/4 and she's been helpful in getting me to improve my health.
10-28-2010, 05:28 AM
Hmmm....I'm not sure I want my day to be "ticky-tacky" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticky_tacky) but do appreciate the alliteration. I'm raising my coffee mug to you Okie-not-Opie and wishing you patience to wait until the 4th.
No "musts" on my list today except a trip to the bank to get some papers signed for yet another grant application for the Mill. The Fair Board AGM is tonight too and I'm hoping it's over in time for me to catch Grey's. I'm sure I'll find something to fill my time.
My friend Anders dropped in last night and we celebrated his election win with a bottle of bubbly and some chips! Yes, I went out and got them from the trunk of the car. Too bad I remembered they were there. :nono: No major damage this morning although I'll have to watch salt.
There! I confessed and feel a bit better. This has not been a good month for weightloss with Italy at one end and Halloween at the other.
Just checked the weather and we are back to rain until Sunday. :( At least Halloween is supposed to be a sunny day. A rainy Halloween sure washes away the fun.
10-28-2010, 05:33 AM
Ruth, it's Okie, lol. I feel like Andy Griffith's red headed son, lol. It rained alot yesterday so maybe that's why I was sleepy. I'll have eggs for breakfast around 7am. I'm feeling emptied out but I'm convinced, that I can and will persevere.
10-28-2010, 05:39 AM
 I knew I was wrong and came back to edit but you beat me to it! Have a good day.
10-28-2010, 05:46 AM
Ruth, I think if I had a bag of chips around yesterday, I would've eaten some too. I was so tired and unmotivated yesterday. I stayed technically op with my food choices, but had too much cheese.
FO, how exciting to move to a new state, where in CA do you want to move? Yay for a healthier body and a DR who supports you!!
I am hoping to have more motivation today. I think I'm going to limit caffeine, I just got so tweeky yesterday, then crashed :(
I am hungry now, but unplanned so I don't know what I'll eat, probably a small bowl of oatmeal. I don't have any veggies prepared.
I've been up since 4:18, my dog woke me :-/
10-28-2010, 05:57 AM
I want to move to San Diego, California BelovedK. I've been there before and I am wiser and more self sufficient. What weight loss can do for you self esteem and confidence, only God does more, lol! BK, you can eat eggs instead. I'm having them, I don't mind if u're a copycat! Lol, I'm in a jovial mood after praying and listening to Church music. Please remind me how I feel at this exact moment when I check in tomorrow! Ask me if I've prayed, lol. Ruth, don't worry about it!
10-28-2010, 06:07 AM
Wow you are an early bunch today!
Okie - Wow, big changes ahead for you. I moved to California once but it wasn't for me. I am such a New England girl, I missed the mountains and the pine trees and the green. I have several friends who moved there and love it though. A change of scenery can be just the thing sometimes.
Ruth - I have no doubt you will find something to do. I would love an hour to curl up with a book.
Beloved - Why don't animals respect human sleep cycles? I often want to wake my cats up in the middle of the day
Today is very much like yesterday except I head west and over the mountains instead of north. It should be a perfect day for a drive. Once again I will be home for dinner. It may be Co-op takeout but it will be home. I've even had a little time to exercise!
I just made our hotel reservation for election night. We are splurging and staying at the Hilton right on the waterfront. It's a silly extravagance but after the last 2 months I owe DW some extras.
10-28-2010, 06:55 AM
I'm not sure about ticky-tacky but for me this is a dilly-dally Thursday. I spent too much time washing and preparing grapes, celery and carrots for my classroom party this afternoon and now I'm rushing. It feels like Friday to me because we have a workshop day tomorrow. I'll still have to work but I've been squeezing everything into a 4 day school week.
No time for personals but I do hope you all have spectacular days today!
PS. Okie, "Opie" or "O.P." might be an excellent new nickname - "On Plan", get it? (Or maybe I just spend too much time hanging out with 5 year olds. LOL) I'm glad you're having such a great morning. I start my day with prayer and good music too and it makes a huge difference in my attitude. I listen to Air1 on my drive to work - have you checked that station out? They stream online, too.
10-28-2010, 06:59 AM
Lol Heidi, I've been on plan and only over-ate once so if fits! I liked Cali, I've been there before but I gave in to familial pressure to come back home to MD. I'm stronger now and the move will be good for me.
10-28-2010, 07:20 AM
I woke earlier, but wasn't ready to delve into todays #1 most procrastinated project so I took coffee upstairs and have just recently made it back down.
Okiemute, thanks for getting us started this morning and I hope that a combination of music, prayer and coming here to visit has sealed the message that WL is a long road but it's easiest when you stay on the path, although it's sometimes difficult. I know you would like to make changes in your life and I remember how much you loved California. Be faithful, one day at a time, and the answers will come.
Ruth, loved your post and confession this am. I hope you find something fun today!
BelovedK, glad to hear you made it through yesterday without unplanned food. I was already thinking I was going to stop at my one big cup of caffeine before you mentioned it. I think I'll move on to a fresh veggie juice. lol for dogs who wake their masters...they have such enthusiasm for life. BTW-nice to see you on the Beck thread. A great group, too!
Cyndi, I think a election night splurge is in order! It's getting very close.
Heidi, thanks for kind wishes and have a spectacular day, too!
Ok, so I'm off to the projects...first is the dining room table which has been collecting all the c**p from all the other projects. My mom wants this giant box of old piano music that has been stored for years and I'm thinking it will be best if we sort it here...when it gets to her house it just gets incorporated into the never ending tidal flow of paper, both important and insignificant..sigh...Oh, boy!
The good news is that I got some walking videos at the library and have started on a mile before breakfast...considering how hard I find it to exercise here, I take this as significant progress.
Have a great OP day everyone!
10-28-2010, 07:35 AM
I'm going for a walk after I drink some milk! I love you all!
10-28-2010, 07:50 AM
Morning, all. I'm not feeling so great this morning. I went to bed at 9 last night and slept until 7 this morning. I've been trying hard to ignore it, but I can't seem to shake this cold, and yesterday was just the worse day ever. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and even my cheeks and eye-teeth hurt.
I'm still dragging myself through the day, and thank goodness today is my Friday!
I'll chat with you all later when I start feeling better.
10-28-2010, 08:25 AM
Linda, TGIYF and I hope you are feeling better very soon!
10-28-2010, 08:29 AM
Good morning. Day 2 of Phase 1. I set a weight loss goal today of 5 lbs in a month, which I think is doable.
10-28-2010, 08:55 AM
Good morning all.
So much talk about my beautiful California HAHA. I live in the relative San Diego area YAY. Beautiful! We are moving TO actual San Diego in about a year and a half when kids are at a point in school we can move them :) Ideally La Jolla. Anyway...
Motivation is alluding me these days. Last week was rockin. Did well, worked out every morning and then Saturday came.....Can you hear that..it is the screech of the workout stopping.....*sigh* unfortunately along with the work out stopping so has the scale! I am not sure why, maybe because I transitioned into Phase 2 and have not worked out a "routine" yet, or maybe because four days of not working out in a row caused something to stop. I dunno. But it is frustrating as all heck LOL.
I admit I am an obsessive weigher. I have to do it every morning. If I don't I do not feel like I am in control of my choices and it gets easy to ignore. So yeah. That of course leads to other sorts of issues when the darn thing does not move for days, or moves in the wrong direction! Oh well, what can ya do I guess.
Have a good day everyone!
10-28-2010, 09:00 AM
...little boxes full of ticky-tack, little boxes, little boxes, and they all look just the same...
and there is my ear bug for the day.
10-28-2010, 09:12 AM
yeah mine went there too, but..at least it got the Bear Necessities out of my head that a co-worker put in there.
Darn it..its back....look for the bear necessities....ACK
10-28-2010, 09:12 AM
Good morning. Late arrival day at the HS so I actually stayed in bed a bit later than usual:)
Okie - I love your dedication and motivation. Rub some on me please!
Ruth - Love Grey's! Funny how Halloween looms. I plan not to eat any candy but can't get it out of my mind. Sigh.
Beloved - Somewhere along the line I think I missed reading what kind of car Sparkles is.
Cyndi - I still consider myself a NE girl despite now living in Kansas for more than half my life! I think I could easily become a CO girl.
Heidi - Hope the party is fun. My son has tomorrow off too but I think the teachers get the day off because of working late last night with conferences.
Debbie - What are walking videos? Do you walk in place in front of the tv?
Linda - I hope you feel better soon:hug:
Randi - I think that is a very reasonable goal.
LazyL - My motivation flew off somewhere this week too. Sigh.
Zeff - So glad I don't know that song! I have another one in my head and don't even know the words.
Natasha - LOL - I tell my husband every time we bike UP our street starting out how hard it always seems! I keep thinking I should hop on and cruise along. Glad to hear you are wearing a helmet; sorry it is so uncomfortable.
I haven't been on my bike in days; huge winds here. But DH and I have caught up on 3 episodes of BL so far working out at home instead. It is cool today... maybe soup is in order.
Have a great day everyone.
10-28-2010, 09:29 AM
Ear worms! I have a big stuffed bear called Bear Necessities. I bought him about five years ago on a shopping trip for bare necessities before I moved my DH to a nursing home. I badly needed cheering up.
Just found a picture dated April 2005. He is in the passenger seat of my car for the drive home. I did get lots of stares.
10-28-2010, 10:07 AM
Good morning, everyone! I'm running late once again. The insane thing is that I was late because I was straightening up the house for the cleaning lady. Hubs told me last night that she's going to walk in, laugh, and pack up and leave because the house is already clean. I beg to disagree, because I can see the dust and dog hair everywhere! Plus we have company coming in tomorrow, so I want the place to sparkle!
Today ought to be a fairly normal work day, especially after I worked late last night to finish a project for a meeting today. Since the house will be clean when I get home from work, I'll be able to work out and then spend the evening as a lady of leisure. That's going to be hard! ;)
Linda:  Hope you shake this cold and get to feeling better soon!
10-28-2010, 10:08 AM
Back from Grandma's hauling a giant tote of old piano music. The one on top is "On a Battlefield in France", MCMXVIII, 1918. It's no wonder I can never get my own stuff dealt with! DH commented he wished we had kept track of all the stuff we have hauled since we have been down here.
Randi34, good morning! I think your goal is doable...make sure you let us know if you're having any troubles.
lazylioness, sorry motivation is alluding you, especially since you successfully motivated me to find some exercise opportunities here. Sometimes, we have to "just do it". I work the Beck Diet Solution, in addition to my SBD food plan. Dr Beck advocates weighing everyday, but using the scale as an information tool...meaning taking the emotion out of it. I do weigh pretty much every day but don't get super charged up in either direction.
Hi Zeff! Yes, I have the ear worm too, and have just received another, thanks to lazylioness!
Karen, good to see you always! I'd love it if you became a Colorado girl! Leslie Sansone was the first walking gal on videos-I just took a VHS to the thrift store. There are various levels, times and miles, etc. I have an old treadmill which I just can't get into and walking here in the wee hours is not safe (bears, mtn lions, etc) so I'm finding these to be helpful. Wow! Winds have been fierce! That paper in your front yard was in mine yesterday!
Ruth, Bear Necessities is very cute AND BIG!
ETA-Hi KimStar! I would not clean up for the cleaning lady...have a great day, and thanks for checking in!
Off to walk my mile!
10-28-2010, 10:26 AM
No problem Lexxiss! Happy to give people ear worms all day long. The office I work in is full of choir boys (no really LOL) and they are FOREVER walking around singing. So it is constant. Glad I could help ;)
I know I just need to do it, so this morning I did. AND since I am a visual kinda girl I had to change my tracker on my sig. That way, I am accountable. It is weird I know, but I have all kinds of charts and graphs everywhere, for all sorts of stuff. Hence the scale thing. I get upset, at first if it does not move, or moves too slowly, because I am SO end result driven, but then I just get to step back and measure, or think about what is going on or what I have (or have not done) in the last few days and make adjustments.
I am a Cali girl all the way, BUT if I were to leave it would be for Colorado. My son was born in Wheat Ridge and we lived/worked in Arvada and Boulder. Boulder is nice :)
10-28-2010, 11:16 AM
Hi again
Karen, Sparkles is a cherry red VW beetle (one of the new ones, new to me at least)
Lexxiss, it's nice to see you there too. The combination of the two is really helping me
lazylioness, I am an obsessive weigher too, and am following Beck too so it is a good excuse :) I hope you get your motivation back, just remember why you want to lose weight, remind yourself.
Randi, on P1, you will lose at least 5 lbs. I lost around 5, and then am still losing as I enter P2, though I am doing it slowly.
I hope you feel better, Cottage
Kim_Starr, My DH wants us to get a cleaning lady once for a deep cleaning, I figure it will take me forever to clean for her. Under the couches and the such LOL.
Heidi, I hope your workshop tomorrow is fun, have a nice day!!
I am now eating 2 slices of Ezekiel bread with pizza sauce and cheese, it is yummo. I hope I don't regret it. DH is taking me out to dinner tonight. I am craving sushi, but it is a no no with white rice, perhaps we can find a place that makes good brown rice sushi :)
10-28-2010, 11:54 AM
I'm back. It's been a bad few years but I'm getting my life together.
10-28-2010, 12:10 PM
BelovedK: Yeah, that's why she's coming for us. We're only getting her for 3 hours every two weeks, so I really want her to be able to get straight to the actual cleaning and not have to pick up clutter to be able to clean. It's going to be SO nice to not have to deal with all of that!!
10-28-2010, 12:25 PM
Love the subject title this morning - it just sounds upbeat and happy to me! Boy it seems that I'm the last one checking in this morning.
FO - Can't wait to see that picture! Perhaps we can exchange pictures about the same time as that is where I'm headed too. San Diego is a beautiful area but give me the mountains, trees and green foothills up here in northern Calif.
Cottage - Sorry you aren't feeling well, hope it gets better real soon.
Should be a nice calm day today, just a short errand to run and the rest will be spent doing chores here at home. Yep, got the wood pile moved yesterday and the deck blown off so come on storm, I'm ready for you.
I too have to get on the scale every morning (and sometimes at night too) but I've learned not to get too upset when the reading isn't to my liking. If anything, it seems to motivate me to try even harder.
Hope you all have a great day!
10-28-2010, 12:45 PM
Its another nice sunny morning here, and the rain is supposed to hold off til tomorrow which is nice because of the 2nd game of the world series being played around here! I'm not sure who all are sports fans, but we're all pretty excited around here that the Giants are in the series! I think it has more to do with just having some good news in a bad time than anything else.
Looks like I'm not alone with the frequent weighers. I weigh at least 2 times a day. Once in the morning (my "official" weight) and once at night. The one at night is just a guideline for me, in that its usually about 4lbs higher than my morning weight, so its a good measuring stick of if I've lost that day. Might just be a mental trick I play on myself, but I'm okay with that.
Nice normal day for me. Work, then home. Tonight I'm going to do some sewing of buttons and such, and maybe a bit of laundry. Nothing too exciting.
10-28-2010, 12:53 PM
Lamay, I'm on tenterhooks to get to 100lbs lost. My bestie will take the picture.
10-28-2010, 06:06 PM
Afternoon, everybody. Wow, busy thread today!!! I don't have time to read it all right now, but I'll come back to it after dinner. We're taking my brother and sister-in-law out to dinner at Olive Garden tonight to celebrate his birthday (it was Tuesday, but I had to work that night). I'll be sticking w/ soup and salad or maybe the mixed grill selection w/ veggies. No breadsticks!!!
Hope you're all having a good day!!!
10-28-2010, 06:06 PM
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...and I hopped on the scale just before my shower and I was down another 3 pounds. That puts me 1 pound over HALFWAY to my goal. Frigging awesome!!! :)
10-28-2010, 06:17 PM
Natasha, that's amazing! Congrats!!!!!! I feel like you need a ribbon or something! And FYI, you have great personal strength to go to Olive Garden and stay OP!
10-28-2010, 06:29 PM
Natasha!! That's great!!:carrot::carrot:
10-28-2010, 06:40 PM
.and I hopped on the scale just before my shower and I was down another 3 pounds. That puts me 1 pound over HALFWAY to my goal. :)
10-28-2010, 07:46 PM
:broc: :broc: Hooray Natasha! :broc: :broc:
10-28-2010, 11:19 PM
Hi again, ladies. Back for personals this time around. Just got home from Olive Garden about an hour ago and I've been killing time online waiting for Project Runway to finish so I can watch it. I didn't want to come in half-way through...I hate doing that. Anybody else watching??? I really want Mondo to take it all. If not him, then Andy. Just as long as it's not Gretchen w/ her awful colors, hideous patterns, boring clothes, and crappy attitude. YUCK!!!
FoodObsessed - Good luck on your move. I wish I had the guts to pick up and move far away...I would love to live in NYC like my cousin, Karen. I just don't have it in me, though...and I don't think I could stand being that far away from my niece and nephew. You'll have to let us know how your doctor's visit goes. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope you make it into the 2s!!! :)
Ruth - If it makes you feel any better, I had a snack sized bag of Sun Chips last night. Oopsy!!! Congratulations to your friend on his election win, by the way. If ever there's a reason to stray off plan a little bit, that one is a good one. ;) And awwww, the bear is too cute!!! Glad he could help you through such a tough time.
Beloved - Hope you're enjoying the new car. I think the beetles are SO cute...and they say they're surprisingly roomy. Plus they're the highest rated car for safety, if you didn't already know that. ;) Has something to do w/ the dome roof. Hope you found some brown rice sushi...or maybe you at least got to enjoy some sashimi.
Cyndi - A nice hotel on the waterfront is certainly NOT a silly extravagance. You deserve it, woman!!! A friend of mine from the Boston area came to visit me back in April and we took her to Tybee Island...b/c it was her first time in Georgia we decided to stay on the beach in a nice hotel. It was awesome!!! Definitely worth the money...and now I'm spoiled and want to stay there (or in the beach house that my mom's friend's family owns) every time!!! Enjoy it!!!
Cottage - Hope you're feeling better now. Sounds like a sinus infection, hon. YUCK!!! If nothing else helps, try a nice warm compress right over your sinus area. Helps a lot!!!
Randi - 5 lbs is totally doable. You'll probably lose that just through Phase I. Good luck!!!
lazylioness - Try not to get too discouraged by the scale. Sometimes it just stops...sometimes it goes the WRONG WAY...but it always goes back to the way it's supposed to. Have faith!!! ;) Also, I don't think I've seen you around before, so welcome!!!
WaistingTime - I'm glad it's not only me, LOL I'm just gonna keep plugging away and, before I know it, I'll be a pro...right??? LOL Heck, when I think about it, I started out nearly dying after 3 minutes on the elliptical...now I walk 2 miles and do 20 minutes (plus a 2 minute cooldown) on the elliptical 5 times a week. So I know it gets easier. My co-workers picked on me for wearing a helmet when I'm going to be riding mostly in my neighborhood, but my philosophy is that there are so few people out there w/ decent brains...ruining one would be a real tragedy. ;)
Kim - I was gonna pick on you at first for cleaning up before your cleaning lady gets there...but then I thought about it and I bet we ALL brush our teeth before going to get our teeth cleaned at the dentist, huh??? ;) A co-worker swears that he doesn't...he says he eats Oreos before he goes b/c he's going to make them EARN their money. I'm pretty sure he's all talk. LOL
Lydia - Welcome back!!!
Thanks everybody for the congratulations. :) Did pretty good at Olive Garden. I got a steak from the grill w/ some asparagus and I substituted zucchini and yellow squash for the garlic mashed potatoes that were supposed to come w/ it. By the way, did anybody else know that Olive Garden has whole wheat linguini??? I sure didn't until tonight!!! I did go off-plan, though, when we ordered dessert. I didn't have tiramisu (my fave) but I had a dark chocolate caramel creme dolcini. I don't feel too bad, though, b/c it was those teeny time little dessert cups...well, here...
