Weight Loss Support - what is YOUR weight loss affirmation?!

I recently read "Secrets of a Former Fat Girl," and she talks about how affirmations can seriously help when there's a lack of motivation or willpower. They can begin with "Every day in every way, I..." Mine is "every day in every way, I jog to finish the 5k"

Curious about your affirmations! What do you tell yourself to be motivated everyday? I'd love to hear them! :)

I have no motivational mantras. I have little motivation right now, so that's expected.

*Do you really want to regain? No? Don't eat it then.
*Will eating that really make you less upset? It'll just make you fatter. Stop it.
*Are you really going to do this to yourself AGAIN? Put it down.
*You just ate. You don't need it. Mooo! Mooo!!! M-fing MOOO!!! Didn't think you'd eat it.

That's as close to motivational as it gets right now.

Every day in every way, I stay on plan so I can...get a little trimmer...get a little healthier...look a little hotter. :)

I just look at unflattering pictures of myself and drool over the prospect of buying an entire new wardrobe.

Every morning at 9am I have a reminder thing that goes off on my cell phone. The reminder says "Better and better every day, in every way".

It helps me to focus on the day ahead and that I'm going to do the best that I can do.

My mantra: I don't want to have to lose this particular pound ever again.

Matt: You are an inspiration.

Every day in every way I am making changes that I will keep forever. I am making changes that will prolong my life, increase my energy and fitness, and make me feel so good and sexy. And these things are worth missing a 10 min gratification of eating something that isn't planned. :)

Mine isn't so much an affirmation as a goal I have in mind every single day.

"I will get through one full year of being on plan each and every day without giving up."

My year is up November 9th. :carrot: Soon it will be time to commit to another year! :D

Every step I take and every move I make
Makes me more healthy and more happy.

I repeat this a over and over while I'm on the treadmill or when I'm tempted.

I don't have any right now. I'm struggling big time. I have been trying to lose weight for almost 2 months and have only lost 1lb. But I keep plugging, trying different things and not give up.

Hang in there - you don't have a ton to lose so it will come off slower.
Its frustrating but you will get to your goal! I was at a plateau for 6
months - I broke it, but by going in the wrong direction LOL!! You have
to remember that our bodies were designed to sustain us in a nomadic
lifestyle - it does not easily give up any extra weight because it thinks
there might be a famine down the road.

One that inspired me to make a one year commitment was:

"A year from now you'll be glad you started today." Truly this has most inspired me.

That's a great one, especially for when you're just starting - the first day is the hardest!!

I have a few mantras that I keep in mind...

- Nothing tastes as good as thin feels (odonnela beat me to it ;)).

- Food is fuel, not fun or friendship.

- Don't give up what you want most for what you want now.

- Not really a mantra per se, but I like to remind myself that the satisfaction I will derive from eating something just because it sounds tasty is not as great as the satisfaction I will derive from being proud of my self-control when I decide that I don't need to eat it.

I am joyfully wearing a size 10.
I am effortlessly losing 3 pounds a week every week
I look at old pics and realize I had gotten out of control. I love looking in the mirror at the me now imagining where I'm going to be...a size 10.

Each day I remind myself that my fat version ate my thin version and it took A LOT of hard work to get that thin girl out of the big girl's belly. Needless to say, whoever said that a skinny girl can't kick a big girl's butt never duked it out with one!

Carter's cracked me right up!! LOVE IT!!! Soooo something I would say too!! LOL!!

I guess the one I'm trying to live by is "What steps are you going to take TODAY to ensure you have a successful weigh in on Tuesday?" It seems to help that I'm focussed on a smaller time frame. When I think of how far I have to go - its overwhelming!!

How did you get to the point that you count an hour a day on the treadmill as "effortlessly" ? I 've got to get there! :?:

I like to tell myself that today is the hardest it will ever be. If I can make it through today (or through this workout) then tomorrow will be a hair easier... and the next day will be a hair easier than that. If I can get through today, then I am capable of finishing this journey.

Also, I am learning to tell myself that I don't have to see HOW FAST I can lose weight... I just need to lose it. If it takes five years instead of one... so be it... as long as it gets done. (not that I want it to take that long - but I hope you know what I am getting at)

And I tell myself that I don't have to be 100% perfect... but I do have to push myself to be a little better each day.

AND sometimes... I have to use Carter's mantra! Lol!

"never again"

obese BMI? never again
10,000 calorie days? never again
a day without some sort of exercise? never again
plus size clothes? never again
disliking myself because of the way I look? never again
feeling defeated? never again
saying I can't? never again

and on... and on...

I often say to myself that every pound on the scale feels better on the way down than on the way up.

Plan, plan and plan some more.

I am wonderful - working on being even better.

I don't have a mantra, but I tell myself that the time will pass anyway. Better to spend it losing weight, than look back a year from now when I'm heavier, or have maintained, and think of all the weight I could have lost if I'd just not given up.

i love affirmations! i use them for all aspects of my life :) i tell myself that regardless of what I eat, I’m going to end up satisfied. that’s especially helpful when i’m starving and want to reach for something easy/bad. And recently i’ve been telling myself “I will lose 10 pounds” several times a day!

for me it's something like...

"A muffin is just a muffin. It can't think or feel or move on its own free will. I, on the other hand, am a human and can do all those things and more and therefore a muffin has no power over me."

Mine newest motivation comes from a song. It's on the newest album of my favorite group, The Weepies.

"What is it worth to you, to be a free someone? What is it worth to you? What would you do? Everything."

It could apply to lots of trials or what have you but for me, being that free someone is to be done with this battle. It's not an easy thing to get rid of the fat girl in your head.

When I'm "too tired" to do my work out (the one I use most often!):

"Would you rather be tired, or fat?"

When I need to get back on course:

"It's not about 'deserve' it's about doing what you need to do."

(As in, 'I deserve to starve today because I fell off-track yesterday' or 'I deserve this cookie because I've been doing good', and so on. Teaching myself not to reward OR punish myself using food!)

Mine is, "once you told someone you'd do anything to be thin. SO DO SOMETHING, anything!"

Changed- I LOVE the weepies! Good affirmation. I definitely think of being thinner as being free.
I guess for me, it would be "you're worth more than (that cookie)(being fat) (getting winded just walking up one flight of stairs) (torturing yourself with food)" and so on and so forth. What I DESERVE is to be healthy, and I need to remember that every day. :)

I've got quite a few, I repeat them in my head quite often if I'm about to make a food choice, one is "a moment in the mouth, an eternity on the waist" (think my sister used to have a fridge magnet that said that) or then I just reminisce about the pain and hurt I felt when I was obese, or I think about all you ladies here on 3 fat chicks who are somewhere out there at the very same moment in time making choices as well. I get a lot of strength to from songs too, like "Rusty cage" (sung by Johnny Cash).
