I wouldn't recommend the recent book title since Dr. Atkins didn't write the recent book and lets just say there have been "alternations" to the plan since his death in 2003. Reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 or prior versions) is your best bet.
As for online info, the best reference is: http://www.veronicaatkinsfoundation.org/

All the best to you!!

Thank you Jersey Girl. Do you know if it is OK to drink coffee?

Coffee is fine; decaf is recommended. But I'd die if I didn't have regular coffee, so I'm in for two cups every morning and a cup of decaf several afternoons each week.

Check the Veronica Atkins site Jersey Gyrl suggested for most accurate information until you can get a book.

Just remember that everyone is different so coffee may affect you differently then someone else. For me I drink about 2 to 3 cups a day. More importantly is what you put IN the coffee. Make sure you are checking labels unless you like it black.

I drink one or two a day, but try to keep it at one. For me coffee is 2.5 carbs because sugar twin is half a carb, one scoop coffee mate is 1 carb, and a cup of coffee is 1 carb.

If I don't drink as much it gives me more carbs for later that can go towards good things like veggies.

For some it causes sugar cravings, for me I'm fine.
