So I was looking at how to calculate your % lost and it says to divide from start weight 10/24 to get percent. Thats just for the first week, right. The next week we divide by the starting weight of that week to get the total % lost that week. I know that for the overall stats, they are always divided by the initial weight from 10/24, but each week should be from its weekly starting weight, right? That is how they do it on BL. Just wondering...

southernbelle102~ I've been thinking about this a lot since I saw your post. I'm not sure the exact reason why I use the initial (10/24) weight to figure out percentages, but I think it comes back to weight watchers. They only use your first weight when figuring out percentage of weight lost. Also, it's more consistent, if you lose 3lbs. two weeks in a row, and used the new starting weight each week, you would get different percentages. A lot of members struggle with figuring out their percentages anyways, so I redo a lot of them. Thank you for asking! How are you doing?

Hey everyone! Since the Challenge has not "officially" begun yet, this is the perfect time for introductions! Try to include your age, location, some interesting facts, and any struggles you have had with weight!

My name is Kim, I'm 26, and live in Vermont! I'm currently a paraprofessional & waitress, working anywhere from 60-80 hours per week. I have my certification to teach English, but surprise, surprise, there are NO jobs!!! I've struggled with weight since early in high school when I went from a year bout with anorexia to an obsession with food. It's hard to believe that at 16, 108lbs., I still thought I was fat... Thanks to destroying my metabolism with that eating disorder, I have ballooned over the years to 280lbs., which is where I began my weight loss journey once again in June. I have been a member on 3FC for a few years, at one point lost over 40lbs. with 3FC as my main supporter, but unfortunately gained it back when I got too confident and stopped checking the 3FC boards.
Interesting facts about me... I've been skydiving twice... I was a powerlifter in college (if you have any weight lifting questions, feel free to ask)... and I recently adopted a miniature poodle (rescue), who is AMAZING!!!
I could go on and on about different obstacles I have overcome or am currently faced with, but I'd rather share throughout the challenge!

Hi again! I've come back to introduce myself properly. :) My name is Kaitlyn, I'm 18, and I'm at school in a cute little town in Louisiana but I'm originally from Austin, Texas. I'm studying English/Literature, and at least for now I'm thinking of becoming a librarian. :book2: I can't remember when I wasn't overweight. I grew up as a chubby child, and whereas the doctor/my parents figured I'd outgrow it, guess what? Never did. I've lost 25 lbs since my freshman year of high school and my goal is to get down to a healthy BMI and then go from there pretty much. I'm new to 3FC and I love it here. It definitely holds me accountable and motivates me. :D Right now, I'm doing a training program to run a 5k, and I recently went vegetarian. I'm super excited for this! :carrot:

about me...
my name is jo and im 24
im a full time mum from the uk. i have a daughter whos 4yrs old an 2 dogs (german shep called lady an staffy called mia) i also have a rabbit called daisy. i live with my parter an been with him for 6yrs (poor poor man lol) i was about 16 when i started to put weight on, started from a broken ankel then got picked on wich made me comfort eat. at my biggest (2008) i was 205lb an lowest (2009/10) 145lb. in this challenge im hopin to get alot closer to my lowest but altermet goal is to get to 126lb! i did it once i can do it again but this time to keep it off for good!.. life can be hard sometimes and throw us some nasty things.. but we always find the strenth to get back up and start again. thats what makes us strong :) lets kick some but!!

Anything Else You Would Like to Share About Yourself: I have been on this journey for over a year and a half and have lost now 140lbs. I've accomplished so much and I hope that I can give others motivation/inspiration to keep going for their goals.

Hey ya'll! I'm 24, I live in Tennessee, and I work full time as a Personal Banker, and attend school part time to finish my Accounting degree. I have two furry children, a pom doggy named Brindle, and a kitty named Isabella. My boyfriend is amazing, and is totally my weightloss support! My biggest weight loss issue has always been sweets! I love sweets, and breads too! Up until now, I would always fail at my weight loss attempts... miserably! Finally, this is working! My goal for this challenge is to lose at least 25 pounds. Hey Team Phoenix!

Iím really excited to have landed on this team as I see a couple of familiar names from the last BL Challenge we had. Well, Iím 25 and from Melbourne, Australia. This is my second BL Challenge and I love the support & accountability I received last time so wanted to join up again. My ultimate goal for this challenge is to lose 10lbs & to try and incorporate a little bit of exercise into my life. I currently just concentrate on my Diet to lose weight as I have Chronic Fatigue but will be working towards making small changes. The weather in Melbourne is finally looking up & there a few parks that Iím looking forward to exploring when the time comes.

Anything Else You Would Like to Share About Yourself: This is the second time I'm trying to lose weight. The first time I went from a high of 243 down to 169 pounds. I was sooo close to where I wanted to be, but I think I just got afraid of actually reaching my goal. I started eating again and steadily gained weight. I ended up at 282 pounds. :eek: I've lost some already just by not being completely out of control with my eating, but I have a long way to go.

I lost 40lbs during college but have yet to shed the last 20lbs. I have never been in the 120s before except for when i was zooming past in on my way to obesity. I would love to see it again.

I also am going to be allowing myself a total cheat day on Thanksgiving (my first cheat day the entire time I have been on this diet... and last one until Christmas day).
Anything Else You Would Like to Share About Yourself: I have struggled with eating disorders for as long as I can remember (anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating.) This is the first time I have done it the healthy way :)

Hmmm...about me...

My name is Leslie, and I live in Pennsylvania with my fiance and my black lab mix. I like the call her a puppy, but she's actually 8 now. I'm a full time student and will be graduating this spring with a bachelors in biology (minor in anthropology) and will then be applying for Physician assistant programs as I wait on news on this upcoming deployment. I'm also a part time nursing assistant and a medic in the army national guard. I have always struggled with weight. When I danced (ballet, jazz, pointe) I was always one of the heaviest girls. When I ran cross country I was the heaviest and the slowest (5K best time 27 min.) I joined the army and had to do some crash dieting to make weight because I was always a little too heavy. After basic and ait I was at 155 and comfortable with my body, even though I was still overweight by army standards. I had been struggling with back and hip pain for a while but it didn't catch up to me until my Sophomore year. I worked out less, gained weight. By that summer I was 165. I've since been kicked off a deployment (at the time the pain had an undiagnosed reason and they didn't want to send me without a diagnosis) and put on oral steroids. I was depressed and on steroids...and ended up at 198. When I saw that on the scale I cried and decided to make a change. That's about where I am now, minus the depression:D I had to overcome that before I was going to have the strength to lose weight.

My goals by Nov 20(my next drill)

sit ups: 50 under 2 minutes
push ups: sustain
weight: 185

Most Recent NSV: 1.5 yrs ago my uniform was a 5x top and 3x pants, now its 2x top (I can wear an XL but I needed roon to wear a shirt underneath) and XL pants...woohoo

Battle Plan for Reaching BL Challenge Goal: MOVING MY BUTT! I've been lazing around not working out for a good couple of months, just maintaining. I need to hop back in the saddle and burn off some pounds.

It's a tough adjustment but I need to be fit and healthy to care for my residents all day. Holidays don't really freak me oout anymore. Hopefully, I'm working during them

Most Recent NSV: Going to the store to purchase an outfit for an event and actually fitting EVERYTHING I tried on and with NO struggle I bought my first little black dress, and it's still TOO BIG!
Weight Lose Goal for the Challenge: Not sure how long the challenge lasts but to lose 15lbs.
Battle Plan for Reaching BL Challenge Goal: Staying consistent and honest with myself, listening to my body and boot camp 5x a week!
Particular Challenges/Upcoming Temptations that You are Working to/or Planning to Overcome: Becoming complacent because I am oh so happy in my skin right now.
Anything Else You Would Like to Share About Yourself: Umm, I haven't been below 150 since college, my whole goal is HEALTHY before 30. I have a year to complete it! It's not just about losing the weight, but also maintaining an active lifestyle. My boyfriend wants to get married and go freaking on a backpacking trip for our honeymoon! I would LOVE to...but I'm not getting engaged while fat. I refuse to have my pictures look like crap because he is so handsome and tall and muscular and I'm a lard *** =)

Yay Team Phoenix! This is my first BL challenge because I always miss them but this time I stalked the board so I'd know when the next one was and here I am. Very exciting! Can't wait.

Here's the basics about me, in brief:

Age: 24
Location: (West) Africa
Most Recent NSV: Hmmm... I think maybe a pair of formerly indecently tight jeans I tried on the other day that fit perfectly now with a bit of room to spare??? (However, I realize now that it wasn't just the fat that made the jeans look bad, the jeans are just "wack" by themselves. Definitely not keepers!)
Weight Lose Goal for the Challenge: I think I'll shoot for my pre-undergrad weight of 209lbs which was back when I was 17 and also the thinnest (or ok... least fat) I've ever felt. So that's about 13 lbs over the 6 weeks! Eeek! But possibly doable I think... I hope....
Battle Plan for Reaching BL Challenge Goal: Work out daily (or minimum 6 days a week). Plan meals a week in advance. No cheating. 2-3 very low carb weeks over the 6-week period <gulp!>
Particular Challenges/Upcoming Temptations that You are Working to/or Planning to Overcome: Just generally eating out of boredom, eschewing treats, staying away from what everyone else around me is eating, not getting bored or tired or disillusioned with my plan... generic daily weight loss battle stuff!
Anything Else You Would Like to Share About Yourself: I work in the international development/ public health field. I've been chubby all my life but actually didn't have any issues with it (even in elementary, middle, and high school, never really got teased or made miserable, because I was in the "right" clique and frankly didn't really care, had the best support system at home) until I got to maybe sophomore year of college when the weight issue started to get me down. However, it wasn't until my last semester of grad school when I was at my HW 275, that I actually got serious and stopped thinking about how I wished I looked and decided to do something about it. And then I found 3fc and then I brought my total lost to 40lbs... and then I maintained between 235 and 240 for 10 months and then I brought my prodigal behind back to 3fc in August and have been here since, trying to get better at this weight loss/ lifestyle change thing and learn habits for life etc. So that's basically all the relevant stuff I can think of...in a nutshell. I can't think of any interesting random/ non-relevant tidbits so I'll stop here. Oh I love to talk... as you may have observed. Ok that's it!

Battle Plan for Reaching BL Challenge Goal: Continuing what I'm doing right now...It seems to be working. I'm training on C25K, doing Zumba and focusing on light toning and core workouts. Trying to eat slightly more protein and less processed foods.

Particular Challenges/Upcoming Temptations that You are Working to/or Planning to Overcome: Well, Thanksgiving, mostly. And the general feeling of nostalgia and "need" to eat that the holidays bring.

Anything Else You Would Like to Share About Yourself: I work as a punching bag for a printing company. ;) Actually, I am a receptionist/customer service rep/whatever else anyone needs me to be. I'm planning on going back to school to be a Kindergarten teacher (or at least no older than 2nd grade). I've been overweight as long as I can remember. I have no idea what body shape I've got and the lowest weight I can even remember being at is 225. I'll be over the moon once I get lower than that!

Today's Question~ What's your favorite comfort food and what healthier version/food have you replaced it with?

I am a pasta FIEND!!! So in order to still get my pasta fix, but not waste tons of calories, I use SmartTaste pasta, which is much more filling and tastes the same as regular pasta.

I went out with friends last night as we had yesterday and today off for NEA days at school. I'm not a big drinker... so this morning was a little rough, and I definitely did some sleeping in. One thing I did do last night was make sure that I was the one making the main meal. I brought eggplant parm with homemade garlic bread and SmarTaste pasta. If only my drinks had been low in calories, it would have been a successful night, but I had fun!

Battle Plan for Reaching BL Challenge Goal: Keep tabs on what I'm eating and jog, jog, jog.
Particular Challenges/Upcoming Temptations that You are Working to/or Planning to Overcome: Winter weather and shorter days (sunlight-wise) make it more difficult to motivate myself to work out outside. I need to buy warmer jogging clothes and winter running shoes. If that fails, I guess I'll join a gym.

Anything Else You Would Like to Share About Yourself:
I graduated from college this summer and am now teaching English at a primary school in Finland. Completely unrelated to my studies, but I tend to make major choices based on whims. Surprisingly, it works out pretty well for me!

I became overweight after I graduated high school and moved back to the States, partially because I was horribly homesick and was comfort eating and partially because I was just less active. Fastforward a few crazy years (four moves, a broken engagement, and the deaths of my four grandparents in the course of a year), and things had gotten ever so slightly out of control. Fortunately, I have the most supportive family ever, I've now moved to a place with a strong emphasis on fitness, and my recent love affair with jogging is making me healthier, physically and mentally. Things are looking up, and I'm definitely looking forward to this challenge!

Ooh, in answer to today's question -

I love me some cheesy mashed potatoes with slices upon slices of cheesy bread toast. (Yeah, I like cheese.) I now make my mashed potatoes with lots of other vegetables thrown into the mix (cauliflower, carrots, onions, broccoli, corn, peas, radishes, and whatever else happens to be laying around). This adds enough flavor that I don't feel the need to add tons of cheese, and it also has more nutritional value. I then put a small amount of my yummy yummy mashed goo on top of a bed of kale and spinach. Unfortunately, I don't have a substitute for the bread. I really just can't keep it in the house; it's not worth the temptation.

Hmm, mine is DEFINITELY Pizza! In order to make this work I KNEW I could NOT give it up completely, so instead of forcing myself to do something I can not, I found Lean Cuisine pizza's!
Of course I don't eat these everyday =) I eat one every two weeks. Satisfies my craving and makes me very very happy =)

Anything with CHEESE! oh man, cheese was a big one for me, and my diet has strict restrictions on cheese. I was a cheeseaholic, pizza, cheese bread, chips and cheese, anything XD oh it was horrible! I've replaced it with whole grain cheerios, not top notch but it definitely gets me through my "I'm so hungry, I'm so mad I must eat something" moments XD And I satisfy my cheese craving with Fat Free Odyssey Feta =) best brand there is!

@Kim: My sinuses were acting up bad at the start of this week, I've about got it under control right now, so hopefully come Monday I'll be back to normal!

Anything Else You Would Like to Share About Yourself: My highest weight that I know of was 285 lbs. I have Been on this journey for for a little over a year and have lost around 130 lbs. I am looking to maybe lose about 10-15 lbs more but I trying to focus on how I look in the mirror rather than the number on the scale.

I think it is pretty funny that although I ended up being the overall biggest loser for the last challange, I was never a weekly Biggest loser for team Athena. That just shows how strong the team was and how hard everyone worked!! I hope we are as dedicated a team this time! I know I am! Bring on the first week :)

Armastus~ Do you have any strategies to help keep you from nightly grazing and boredom eating?

I bought those lemonade flavor packs that you can put into your water from Walmart in order to help me. I figured it would help me consume more water and at the same time curb my cravings if i feel the need to have a taste of something. It worked last night for me and i'm hoping it'll curb all of my future cravings somewhat.

Ugh, I've had the flu now for five days! I'm afraid it's turning into bronchitis. Yuck. I really want it gone so I can start exercising again.

KimL1214: I'm trying to focus more on health this time and thinking as food as fuel instead of a friend. I know it will be a process though.

Instead of going through half a bag of potato chips I buy pre-sliced apples at Costco. They're nice and crunchy and I can eat a whole pouch without feeling guilty. That's always been my big thing. I would buy a 3.99 big back of doritos and could eat them all in one sitting. No bs. Or, I would THINK I was eating healthy, go to subway, get TWO bags of chips with my sandwich and down em.

The pre sliced apples have TRULY been a lifesaver here. I haven't missed chips at ALL! So funny you mention it because I was just having this convo w/ my boyfriend. I was like, "How come you NEVER said, wow honey umm you're being pretty disgusting eating a WHOLE ENTIRE bag of chips in one sitting"...and he just looked at me and said because he never really thought about it lol. I guess it's better that he didn't. lol

Today's Question~ What's your favorite comfort food and what healthier version/food have you replaced it with?

mine has to be anything with carbs in.. potatos pasta rice... love the sstuff!! i try and have brown pasta and rice but insted of fillin up on potatos i use sweet potatos or non at all :P
i also love chips (erm fries) so insted of deep far frying them i oven them :)

how are you all today. ive been busy this week from gym to going to my moms painting walls and moving boxs full of stuff and going to zumba.. im hoping to have lost some lbs this week.. to start with a new number :D

KimL - Today will be Week 4 Day 3...Ahhh! I'm kind of nervous to move on to week 5, but I'm nervous EVERY week to move on to the next and I always end up completing it! Without (too much..) trouble. I'm amazed to continue to find out what my body is capable of that I never thought it was.

I don't think I have one particular comfort food...I just like FOOD. in mass quantities. But my top few are pasta (haven't really found a great substitute. We eat the Bertolli frozen meals when we need a pasta fix), steak (I like lean cuts anyway! and as little as I actually eat it, cholesterol isn't an issue). ANYTHING I can dip something else into. I LOVE dips and sauces. Hahaha. My boyfriend has been making Bearnaise sauce from the Knorr packet with I can't Believe It's Not Butter spread and 1% milk. It's not as good as Kirby's Steakhouse, but MAN it's a good substitute.

Morning, bbg! Let us know if you've lost something. You did have a busy week going on! Have you noticed it becoming hard to just sit still? I was kind of ADD before starting all this, but now it's worse. I just feel like, "Why sit still when I could go DO something?" And the weather is beautiful in North Texas right now, so I want to take advantage of that too.

We went to the Rangers vs Yankees game last night. I was too busy at work to eat any lunch, so I had most of my calories left when we went, so I just kind of ate what I want. The only calories I "drank" was one Michelob Ultra and a Malibu and diet coke. Psh! I think I burned it off standing up the whole time, screaming my head off for the Rangers. I guess it paid off!

KimL1214- I'm not sure when I'm running my 5k. There's one near me on December 4th but I have to march in the parade a couple hours after that, so I'm not sure I'll be able to do it. :( It depends on when I have to meet with my marching band. If I don't do that one, I'll find another one hopefully.

Today's question: My comfort food used to be chocolate. Lately, as I've been trying to eat healthier, I've found that if I just sit and think for a while, I decide that I don't really want the chocolate, and seeing the numbers on the scale go down is way more enjoyable than chocolate. So I guess I haven't really replaced it, I've just found a way to avoid it. If I really REALLY can't resist, I have a bag of dark chocolate in the back of my pantry I bought like three months ago. It's barely halfway gone, so I feel like that's an accomplishment in itself. This time last year, that bag might have lasted a couple of weeks. :p

Anything Else You Would Like to Share About Yourself: *editted 10.25.10* About me? Secretary/computer drafter (so I sit at a desk 9-5), 1 son in kindergarden, 2 ferrets (Weasel and Snowball). I love music, concerts and reading. I'll probably be doing mostly zumba and some ferret walking for primary exercise.

And... for first question of the day.. not sure if I really have a "comfort food". One thing I absolutely cannot give up is coffee. But I've made it slightly "healthier" (less bad) by only adding one packet of brown/cane sugar and using 2% milk (and less of it than before) now.

Good luck to all teamates on our challenge. We got a tough one, with the "eating holidays" around the corner (and 3 in a row, aw man!). We'll do fine if we remember "Moderation" and "Exercise" :) Y'all take care!

Today's Question~ Favorite exercise, what is it and how often do you do it?

Mine is hiking. One of my co-workers and I started a new plan last week where we hike a mountain once a week. There's one mountain right by our school that has a road that winds around it to the top and lots of people hike it year round. The group I worked with last year took our students up it at least once a week, which was a lot of fun because we would slide back down.

I'm making more eggplant parm right now to take for lunch this week. I have to leave for the restaurant soon, so I figured I'd throw it together ahead of time, versus trying to throw it together late tomorrow night when I get home from the restaurant. Plus, the halloween dance is tonight and I haven't decided yet if I'm going to go. I really don't have the money, but I know it's going to be a good time. Ugh, torn. I think it will boil down to how I feel after work tonight.

i was the same but there best skinned cut in half and roasted in the oven they go all soft and yummy!.. and i love them as chips in the oven.. cut them into finger sided strips an leave them in the oven for about 30/40min depending on how thick. yum!

my fav exercise has to be zumba!! only been doing it the past 2ish weeks i try and do it twice aweek but money is alittle low so ive got myself a zumba dvd for the days i cant go :)

Went to the doctor today for my 3rd weigh in...lost another 5.2 pounds!!!! Total loss of 18 pounds! Soooo excited!

To keep away from sweets, I keep them out of the kitchen, and out of the house. If I have a sweet craving, I drink 1/2 a glass of dark chocolate almond milk (Silk almond milk is my favorite), or I eat a chocolate or caramel rice cake with 1 tbls of cool whip. Both always work, and then my craving is gone. I find now that I haven't had a real sweet treat in awhile, that I really do not crave them much anymore.
As for favorite comfort food, I love chili in the fall! I make a chili-like rendition of the Biggest Loser Turkey Goulash that is super filling, and very low in calories and carbs. I have made it for friendly gatherings and such, and everyone always loves it, and wants seconds! One of my close friends even begged me to make it for her birthday last year! If anyone wants to recipe, I will gladly give it to them :)
Favorite exercise.... I love any cardio! I run at the gym about 5 times a week, and then I love taking walks at the park with my boyfriend on the weekends. He usually plays disc golf too, and I bring my little dog, and we make a day of it, especially now since the weather is perfect!

My answer for fav exercise has also got to be zumba ;) Working out to dvds now (Zumba Cardio Party & 20-min Express) about 2 or 3 times a week, usually about 30-35 min.

Krizstyling: When I started losing weight this time I did something similar with my husband. I was like why didn't you say I was getting as big as a house? Of course if he actually had he might be short a few teeth now. LOL!

Today's Question: My favorite exercise is lifting weights. I was never a fast runner and I suck at sports, but I gained strength and muscle pretty quickly. It was always great to squat with as much weight as the guys!

Favourite Comfort Food Ė Iím definitely the same as a lot of other people in this regard. I love carbs and my downfall has always been Pasta and Pizza. Iíve never been able to stick to just the one serving. I try and limit the amount Iím having now by using a High Fibre Spaghetti and making my own Homemade pizza. Iím avoiding store bought pizza all together as I know I wonít be able to have just one slice.

Favourite Exercise Ė This used to be cycling. I canít remember the last time I was able to get out and give it a go. I have an exercise bike sitting at home so hopefully Iíll be able to jump on that even if itís just for 10 minutes every couple of days.

So, I never thought I'd be willing to post a before pic of me on this journey but here goes...

I took a photo a few weeks and 8 lbs ago and was comparing it to my "start" picture (380 lbs) and it hit me that I actually have lost weight. haha... it is crazy that it has taken me losing so much weight to actually realize there is in fact a difference i my appearance.

What do y'all think? :) The first one is of me at 380 and the second is of me at 313.

I still have a ton to lose but I feel that this is a good start.

Question of the week:

I hate exercising and you can't make me like it! However, I walk pretty much everywhere I go - work, daycare, school, post office, grocery store... etc... and I weight train. I might start hitting the actual gym here soon when when my husband comes home from overseas. It'll be relaxing and not stressful if I don't have to juggle kids to go. :)

Today's question: I danced for 10 years, and I think that dancing is still my favorite exercise. I don't really dance outside my room anymore, but I think next semester I'm going to start a tap class, so hopefully I'll be able to do that again. :D Right now, my favorite exercise is running. I've always been a terrible runner, and now that I've had some practice I love that I am improving and often can run as long as I want to instead of running as long as my body can take it. I try to run at least three times a week. :)

Sunday & Monday Question~ What is one thing you see yourself wearing when you reach your goal weight?

I have actually purchased a beautiful corset that I have hanging in my room. I want to wear that with a pair of fitted black pants and heels, and go out to the local bar to just make all the guys eat their hearts out... especially the ex.

So I did end up getting to the Halloween dance last night and had a great time! I unfortunately was brought down at one point when I had a minor confrontation with my exes sister, but I didn't let it ruin my night. I ate really well throughout the day, so I don't feel too bad about the drinks I had.
Unfortunately the restaurant was dead tonight, so the pressure is on for tomorrow night to be a good one as I really need to make some money!
I have to remember to check the weather for Tuesday, as my co-worker and I are supposed to hike a new mountain!

Question of the day... It probably sounds pretty silly but I don’t have any super sexy outfits that I’m looking forward to getting into. I just want to be able to rock the jeans & t-shirt look. I’d love to be able to roll out of bed and throw that together without having to think about it and know that I’m going to look good.

Hmm... what will I wear when I get to another goal weight? I'd like to have size 9 jeans fit nicely again, so may go buy a new pair. Also like lingerie and cute little clothes (skirts/tops) that doesn't seem to look right on 'real' people, so may shop for a cute outfit.

KimL1214: The recipe is SUPER easy!
1 pound lean ground turkey meat
1 can dark red low sodium kidney beans
1 can of diced tomatoes low sodium
1 medium onion
4 cloves of minced garlic
1-2 packets of chili seasoning, per taste
1 tsp of cumin (optional)
2 cups of water

Chop onion and mince garlic. Sautee over med-high heat in large soup pan. Brown ground turkey with seasonings of choice, I usually put a dash of sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. When fully browned, add tomatoes with liquid, and kidney beans with liquid. Add chili seasoning and water. Bring mixture to boil, and then boil for about five minutes. Simmer on low for at least 30 minutes, longer for full flavor. Add more water and seasoning as you see fit.
*Let me know how it turns out for you!!!! You can add other veggies of choice such as zucchini, and summer squash, I'm not a fan, but you may be!

As for the question, I have two answers, and both are pretty generic, but I'm excited about them nonetheless! The first one is this beautiful, yet adorably simple black dress that I bought from Ann Taylor Loft that is a size 6. It will look adorable when I can wear it! The second is a super cute hot pink bikini that I saw last year from Juicy Couture that I would LOVE to have and flaunt! This will be my major reward for myself when I get to the size I want to be.

My goal outfit is to be able to rock a pair of True Religion jeans distressed, with a belt (and not have to invent holes in it to get it to fit) and a wife beater, WITHOUT my arms being flabby. I want to rock that look and be HAPPY with the way I look!

I hate when we go places like the zoo or hiking and even though it's 80 degrees out or more I'm still wearing long pants. It would be nice to wear shorts and not worry about them riding up or my legs chafing. I know I have a long way to go for that though. When I was 170 pounds my shorts still rode up on me.

Here here! I hear you on that! Even when I was 160 I refused to wear shorts. I finally broke down earlier this year to Mexico and decided I HAD to, it was just too hot last time. I HATED IT and ended up going back to the room to put on capris! When we went zip-lining I ended up wearing GYM shorts because of all the hiking and felt miserable and didn't look so great in the amazing pictures after it was all said and done.

I think shorts is a great goal to have =) I for one cannot wait til we both get there =)

Hey everyone! I've really been enjoying reading all the posts! It's making me more determined to make sure I come on here and check in and maybe post something daily. I've been totally militarily on plan with food but have been kind of been sloppy with exercise (I haven't done a thing since Friday!). It's not yet dire but I definitely need to check that. Thankfully, tomorrow's a gym day which should help me get back on track and I'll set myself a little challenge of 400minutes by Saturday!

Kim your questions are the best! I've been enjoying them soooo much!

Todays question: I will go crazy at White House Black Market and Banana Republic. Where I regularly used to go drool at the clothes <sighs>... Oh and I'll finally wear sleeveless dresses without always wearing a cardigan to cover my arms and SBF (shoulder blade fat)... which i do even here in the bleeping tropics!!! Way to master the art of not sweating!

Ive been absent these past couple days. Dad and Mom's birthday, plus helped my bf's mom bake a HUGE cake for her work AND getting everything all ready for my Cali trip thats happening in 3 days! >.< I pretty much maintained and posted my first weigh-in today. I did see change in my measurements, a loss of .5 in my waist bringing that down to 27inches and a small gain in my calf of .25inch (getting some muscle lol)

oOPeanutOo: I started dancing when I was three, and I started out doing ballet, tap, and jazz. I dropped tap after a couple of years before I quit dancing altogether, but I'd love to pick tap back up again. :)

Today's question: I see myself in clothes that look good on me. Pretty much everything. I especially want to be able to wear a two piece bathing suit and feel confident in it. I wore one this summer but I was really self conscious about it.

My ultimate goal is to be able to fit into this hilarious half tutu- half shirt that I bought at Kmart sometime this past summer. It's actually an XL but I couldn't fit in it. I want to be able to XD I also want to wear legging and skinny jeans and not feel enormous... just anything. I want to be comfortable in my clothes-- all of them!

Tuesday Question~ Everyone trying to lose weight has an "ah-ha" moment when they realize that their weight has become a problem. When was yours? What brought it about?

Mine was my freshman year in college. My friends from home had thrown me a going away party and up until that party I had been avoiding cameras. When I saw those pictures, I stared at them. I couldn't believe how big I looked. This was the first of many "ah-ha" moments as unfortunately, I have tried to lose weight many different times. While I have seen success before, I always got a little too confident and put the weight, plus more, on. My most recent moment came when some friends and I went to the Great Escape at the beginning of the summer. I could fit in the rides, but they weren't any fun because I was so crammed into the seats that I spent most of the ride either trying to get more comfortable or sucking in my gut. The goal is to make that my FINAL "ah-ha" moment, and from now on celebrate little NSVs like having fun on rides!

Long night at work as it was completely dead. One of the biggest problems with working in a restaurant is when you're bored... you wanna eat. I was good at first, but fell apart at the end of the night and ended up having some fries. Ugh. I have a gym date with my boss tomorrow, so I'll make sure to push twice as hard to at least burn off 4 or 5 of those fries.

Time to crash! The flu's starting to go around and I don't want it!!!

My last "Ah-ha Moment" when I found 3FC and got committed, was after a ride in the car with my mom, and we were making jokes, and she was like "Oh yeah, well you're fat", at the moment it was funny, but later...not so much. I don't want to be the fat daughter anymore! :^:

Today's question: The first time around I never really had a moment. I'd been dieting on and off forever and the only real difference was my husband wanted to lose some weight so it stuck for awhile. This time my big a-ha moment was when I stepped on the scale and I was over 280 pounds. I couldn't believe it. I knew I'd always been big, but in my head 300 was a whole new territory and I was sooo close to it. I cried and felt so disgusted with myself. I've still had stops and starts since then, but I haven't gained a single pound (except for during TOM, it's evil!) since then.

I think for a lot of us it takes seeing a photo to really see just how much we’ve changed. Photos were never enough by themselves to give me that extra push I needed. I’d always just pretend that the horrific snaps of me didn’t exist. My moment came this time around after the end of a relationship and having one too many medical problems piling up because of my weight. I don’t need to be the fastest at losing the weight but I’ve come to realise that it’s something I have to do even if I’m not always perfect.

oOPeanutOo~ I hadn't quite crossed into having medical problems, but my doctor keeps warning me that I'm very close to being diabetic, and that is a really scary thought for me. My dad is diabetic and watching him go through some of his stuff has been really hard.

stacylambert~ 280 was the magic number for me as well. I went to a WW meeting, and when I saw that number written down, I was mortified. So close to 300.

Jelbelle~ SUPER cute!!! It's interesting how fat jokes can seem funny when they're said, but I always think about them afterwards and wonder if that is really how people see me. I've been the "fat friend" for a while... and I don't want to be anymore...

Todays question I'm not sure that I really had an ah ha moment but I do remember sitting at work one day and looking down at my belly and seeing it starting to rest on my lap. I knew something had to change because if not my weight was going to slowly creep up and who know's where or when I would have stopped. So, I decided that my new years resolution would be to lose the weight and get to my pre-preg. weight. Failure was not an option and thankfully I'm here 40lbs lighter and so much healthier!

Kim - I think everyone is getting the flu! I was sooo bummed when a few weeks ago I got sick and didn't work out! But now I am happy I got it over and out of the way!

Try Cold-Eeze, it definitely helps, but don't overdose on it! Just four a day!

Two years ago I realized I was overweight and because I was covering the DNC and RNC and knew I was probably going to meet Obama (I DID!) I wanted to lose weight quickly lol so I lost 30lbs in 2 months and umm, it wasn't very healthy, after meeting him I put it all back on, but dang did I think I was cute!

Two years later, I realized wow...I've gained those 30lbs back plus another 10...what the ****. THIS was my AHA moment. I don't want to die. I sat there and thought about how much I love my family and my boyfriend and how my dad died from diabetes and then I saw an ad for a boot camp in my area. I joined, albeit reluctantly, and the rest is history. Started looking at healthy things to eat, I'm still learning, I think we will learn for the rest of our lives...I have yet to drop 30lbs but I'm doing it the HEALTHY way and I feel really good about it. =)

KimL1214: I was reading something about "all or nothing" syndrome in the 100-lb club and I think it's so easy to get bogged down and overwhelmed by one single decision an I think it's so great and inspirational that ur attitude is the opposite of that! Plus, I think I love ur workplace, pple always ready to be work out buddies. Hope u have a great work out with your boss!!

Jelbelle: I actually don't think it's hideous. I can see how it could be styled to be kinda "goth ballerina." I kind of am digging it too in a weird way.

Peanut: I'm supposed to be starting the big push to 400mins by this weekend today and let me not lie, I'm not feeling it. I should go to the gym after work but I don't want to. I WILL go though. I'm supposed to jog 40mins at least, that was my goal. But right now I'm telling myself I don't have to jog today, I can just walk, and it's helping a bit. We'll see how it goes. Today's question: My a-ha moment actually came last January when I stepped on the scale and saw I was 275 lbs. I mean prior to that my highest had been maybe 260 and at that weight it turned out I'd had a 15-lb tumor misdiagnosed as PCOS, removed (so in my mind I was in the 240s-250s maybe) so it was a real shock to me to realize I was close to 300 lbs. Because I was camera shy, there were very few pics of me so i didn't have that trigger and in spite of being mostly sedentary, I didn't really have problems with stairs yet or walking to class or whatever at the time so there were no overt physical/health triggers yet other than a borderline high BP which runs in my family anyway. So my trigger basically was seeing that I had gotten to te point that I had an over 40 bmi and was over 100 lbs overweight. I cried my eyes out and then decided to make a change. And it's been start-stop since then but even during the stop periods I've always at least maintained the weightloss achieved to that point.

zephyr524~ 40lbs. is so AMAZING! You're a great inspiration! Belly on the lap was definitely one of my many "ah-has." Mine occurred one day was I was using the restroom and looked down and realized my belly was sitting right on my legs.

I won't usually be on this much throughout the day. My student has been sick, so I've had lots of free time throughout the day. I like having a chance to relax, but am also really bored.
My goal for today is going to be to keep myself motivated enough to go to the gym at the end of the school day. My boss has to stay with her mother for the next couple days (she's having surgery), so she has to make sure all her lesson plans are written before she leaves and she's not sure if she'll be able to do that before the end of the day. We'll see!

^^My progress pics from a 90-day FIT Challenge (Jan-Apr 2010) at a dance studio. I took various pole dance fitness and zumba classes. There were 10-15 women in the challenge and I think it helped us all: having a place to workout with other women; we made friends and encouraged each other (a sisterly positive feeling). (Too bad I live over an hour from that studio, or I'd still be going).

My "ah-ha" moment would be when I weighed in at 150 lbs (and wasn't 8-9 months pregnant). This was maybe in 2008 (rough year, breakup and move, then having to move back)... this was some time after we'd moved back. Until that point (not counting when preggo), my highest weight had been 130 (battling that number since '06; kiddo born in '05). That was my weight when I found 3FC (150lbs), about 2 years ago. This forum has been a wonderful support system and has helped me a lot in losing over 20 lbs (challenges and journals, Q&A, encouragement). Photos are an eye-opener as well, because they don't lie..

Kim- I'm doing very well! Last night, I was super happy because I was able to run 2 miles non-stop at my goal minutes per mile! I'm training for a half marathon that is on 2-12-11, and I'm hoping to consitantly stay at that speed. Also, boyfriend looked at me the other day and says "Wow, your waist and tummy are getting so small! I'm proud of you!" That TOTALLY made my week :) Thanks so much for asking!!! How are you doing?

Update on the gym: I ended up going to the gym. I got there and was in the changing room and had the worst headache and just didn't feel like and thought to myself: "this isn't going to happen." But I was too self-conscious to just walk in, change and then walk out. So I committed to walking for 20 minutes on the treadmill b4 leaving. By the time I did the 20mins, I felt much better and ended up doing a 40-minute jog and then walked for 10 minutes at the end. So total: 70minutes! Yay!!!! I was fine whilst exercising but kind of have a low grade headache now. I know it's lack of sleep related. So I'm going to eat dinner now and try really hard to go to bed early tonight.

oOPeanutOo: Not yet, unfortunately. This cough is still hanging on. I thought about going to the doctor but I read that antibiotics won't help since it's caused by a virus. Just have to tough it out.

ferretgirl: Wow! You're progress pictures are wonderful. You're very pretty and you look so happy in your "after."

toastedsmoke: AWESOME job at the gym. And yes, our a-ha moments are very similar, but I wasn't in as good of health as you. I was very sedentary at the time so I did get winded on stairs or even walking for any length of time. I also have high blood pressure. I've always had borderline hypertension (I'm a very high strung person) and my lifestyle pushed it way past the line.

I have a couple tiny little NSVs to share, both food related. First is that for the past week I've had oatmeal everyday for breakfast! I'm normally a no breakfast or maybe some Lucky Charms kind of person, so this is a pretty big step for me. The other is that for the last two nights I didn't eat anything after dinner. I'm very much a night person and usually I end up eating a ton of food late at night even though most of the time I'm not physically hungry. I'm very happy that I was able to go two nights without eating and hopefully a third tonight!

Yes, my boyfriend's comment was DEFINITELY a NSV... he has always said I'm beautiful, even at my biggest, but the fact that he has noticed my weightloss thus far is awesome, especially since he isn't the most perceptive person haha! Awesome job yourself at the gym! It is so hard sometimes to make ourselves get in the gym, especially when we aren't feeling our best.

Wednesday & Thursday Question~ What is your dream costume for next Halloween?

So, confession. I didn't get to the gym due to some last minute stuff. My mom called and told me she needed me to make dinner and that there was nothing in the house so I would need to pick something up. My dad has to have dinner before 6, so I had to run to the grocery store, make dinner, and then planned on going to the gym... but one of my friends called in hysterics asking me to please meet her somewhere so we could talk. To add on to all of that she bought us dessert, and now I feel incredibly sick to my stomach as I haven't had any chocolate in a VERY long time. I really wanted to turn her down, but she was so emotional, I was afraid she would take it in the wrong way and get even more upset. SO! This means I have to crank either up the mountain or at the gym tomorrow. If the weather holds, it's the mountain; if not, the gym. I'll need some help staying motivated tomorrow, so feel free to shoot some :kickbutt:!!!

Kim - You can go anywhere from 3x-6x a week for an hour. I go 5x a week. I LOVE the trainer. He started it 2 years ago and it is for only women! I love the girls I've met and it's really a strong reason why I joined =) a great way to meet other women with similar goals in your city!

I don't really have an answer for today's question because I really don't like Halloween very much. This year my boyfriend an I are going as "Hawaiian punch" : he's wearing a hula skirt and Hawaiian shirt (to be funny) and I'm dressing up as a boxer....haha get it? It would be nice though if I couldve been the Hawaiian one. But sadly I can't pull that look off yet.

On a side note, I had two small victories today. One, my scale read 169 this morning, which means I'm only 10 lbs overweight now. That was exciting. :) secondly, it's been really hot here lately so I've been wearing shorts, which have been big on me for a while now. I got cold in my dorm room so I pulled out my jeans and slipped them on. Yes, slipped, as opposed to doing the "tight jeans dance", wriggling and jumping to get them over my huge thighs and buttoned. Which means that next time I wear them in public I'll have to wear a belt because they get super loose when worn for a while. :carrot:

KimL1214 Ė The medical problems are a huge motivator. I donít think any of them individually would have given me the kick in the butt I needed but it would be nice to get off some of the medications and feel semi ďnormalĒ.
Thatís pretty cool that your school is running a competition. Hopefully that 3lb lost on their scale keeps you motivated for the week.
It was really nice of you to drop everything for your friend. By the sounds of it you had an extremely busy & stressful night looking after everyone else.

Today's Question: Every year the husband and I do our Rocky Horror thing =) it's our little tradition, and they perform it at a theater downtown and we are allowed to dress up. The first year we went, I did dress up, despite my size, but last year I just felt too self-conscious and enormous. So, my dream "Halloween costume" is to be able to pull off my Rocky ensemble once again and feel GOOD about myself, and not like everyone is staring at me thinking "Man, that big girl needs to not dress like that!" ugh D=

@Kim: It's a really terrible blow to the ego. I've convinced myself that I'm not attractive enough to be with him, and I want to be more confident in my relationship. Besides, I feel like if I'm thinner I won't hold back as much around him, and we could do more things together, I could act crazier, just be overall less self-conscious.

@katbelle: AWESOME achievement! That's great! You're so close, keep on chuggin! I wish I could say the same about myself =)

I thought today was pretty productive. I got through all three of my workouts. I do a combination of 30 Day Shred, Turbo Jam, and Bellydance. Also had bunches of homework for Play Writing, and I'm getting pretty stressed. Really looking forward to the weekend!

Jelbelle: I definitely understand where you're coming from. There's this guy (a friend of a friend) who i've never met in person but we've talked online for 2years and I really really like him and I think he really likes me too. And I may have mentioned I'm chubby but I don't think he knows quite how chubby. And he's actually working in a nearby city in the same country now (randomly) and always wants to get together and I keep saying no because he's really fit and goodlooking and I feel like i could never be confident with him as I am now. And I'd never want that. I guess I'm thinking maybe if he saw how chubby i was he wouldn't want to be with me or even if he didn't mind, I would never feel confident. Very sad I know! I used to be such a confident person even being obese and a lot of my realization that I had to do something about my weight came because I no longer had that confidence in myself and if you don't have that, then life will really suck! So I totally understand this weight inhibiting you from like your full relationhip potential. I suppose this weightloss thing is not just an outward journey to hotness but also an internal journey to confidence and self-respect.

stacylambert: Congrats on ur NSVs!!! I can identify. I know how hard it is to stop post-dinner snacking and also to start eating breakfast. Right now I'm still on cornflakes but hopefully soon I'll work my tastebuds up to something healthier like oatmeal!

Ok team Phoenix, I have a question I hope you all can help me with. I'm thinking this year for Christmas I should ask for workout videos and/or motivational weight loss stuff I would normally put off buying for myself. So what I was wondering was what are your favourite/ most effective / toughest workout DVDs??? What do you recommend as maybe your 3 workout DVD essentials??? And also has anyone tried the Beto Zumba DVD, how is it?

Today's Question: To be honest i've never really been big into Halloween. I think I've only ever dressed up twice. In sophomore year of college as a (fat) "madam" (pimp) and in 2nd year grad school as a (fat) beetlejuice. I don't know when if I'll ever dress up for Halloween again but if I do, I'd be glad to be anything really without the "(fat)" part in it.

Wednesday & Thursday Question~ What is your dream costume for next Halloween?

I have lots of dream costumes, most of them involve not very much material. For next year, I would want to actually go as an 80s chick. I went as one last year and had a lot of fun knotting up some shirts down the sides, but was too self-conscious to do anymore than that. I'd love to go crazy with a neon shirt, slits and knots EVERYWHERE! Plus wear some tight jeans with lots of slits in them and some nice spike heels. And can't forget about the crazy hair and make-up!!!

I feel really weird today. Kind of like I should have just stayed in bed all day. I don't know if it's because I'm coming down with something or if it's just because the weather really stinks right now. Ugh.

KimL1214: Haha, a lot of people have said that I'm a little crazy for doing it. I actually ran cross country in high school and in college, till the took the progam away, and I lost my schlarship. After that, I started to marathon train. I've ran a total of 3 halfs, and one full. I was much smaller and faster when I ran my first half and the full, but the second half was actually on Valentines Day this year, the Birmingham Half, and the third was the Louisville half this past April. I stopped training over the summer, but picked it back up, and now I'm trying to shave an hour off of my last time. Believe me, you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to, and it is super rewarding! My goal is to eventually do the Disney half AND full in the same day... it's called the Goofy :)

Peanut: I'm actually doing the half on 2-12 with my dad. He is in super amazing shape (most people say that he looks like a smaller Mr. Clean haha!), and in the past year has ran over 6 marathons. He is actually running the New York Marathon that is in less than 2 weeks, where he hopes to qualify for the Boston. I'm hoping to one day be able to keep up with him :)

Toastedsmoke: If the guy you are chatting with has an issue with the way you look, then he most certainly does NOT deserve you! Always remember, no matter how big or small you are, you are a beautiful woman, who deserves ONLY the best!!!! With that being said, give meeting him a shot, and if he is disinterested, HIS LOSS!!!! :D Also, in answer to your question, I do love the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shread, and the Yoga Booty Ballet set. The 30 Day Shread is tough, and super effective, I try to use it 5 days a week, usually as my morning work out since it is only 20 minutes long. Definitely gets my blood pumping for the start of the day! The YBB is soooo much fun, and also super effective! I love how I feel afterwards, and is an AWESOME way to relieve stress!

Todays Question: I have always wanted to pull off Wonder Woman. When I was smaller, people would always tell me that I looked so much like the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, because of my long, wavy/curly dark hair, and shaply body. Wonder Woman's name is also Diana... hehe :) Next year will hopefully be my year!

what are your favourite/ most effective / toughest workout DVDs??? What do you recommend as maybe your 3 workout DVD essentials??? And also has anyone tried the Beto Zumba DVD, how is it?

I LOVE Beto's Zumba dvds. My favorites are Zumba "Cardio Party" and Zumba "20-Minute Express".

Two more favorite workout dvds are Jeff Costa's "Cardio Striptease" and Keli Roberts' "10-Minute Solution Kickbox Bootcamp".

You'll work up a sweat with any of these dvds and the zumba and cardio striptease are very fun. The zumba workouts are part of a bundle on zumba's official website or you can try to buy them individually on ebay. On youtube, you can see lots of other people doing those same songs/dance routines (medium intensity cardio, but beginners can do it and build their way up). The cardio striptease are fun, cardio dance workouts. The box set includes 2 main workouts (beginner and intermediate, 25 and 35 mins), as well as 2 shorter workouts (abs and a "fantasy" routine), or you can look for Workout 1 and 2 individually on amazon. Cardio Striptease Workout 1 is easier than Zumba (for beginners) and you can do Workout 2 for more of a challenge. Both Zumba and Cardio Striptease have male instructors and backup dancers, but they explain very well and make you enjoy the workout (both I'd consider a 'cardio party'). ;)

The Kickbox Bootcamp has five 10-minute workouts: Basic Training (great place to start), Buns & Thighs, Arms & Shoulders, Abs, and Fat Burning Blast (fun, intense challenge). Keli Roberts is also a great instructor and you will sweat and work your muscles. This dvd is great, because any time you have 10 minutes, you can do a mini-workout.. then try to squeeze in 3+ segments a day. Start with Basic Training until you can do it all, then add another segment. I like the 10-Minute Solution dvds, because they'll let you build the workout (make a playlist of which segments you want to do). Oh, and you actually use small handweights in the Arms segment.

I'd list those dvds as my must-haves. Nice to switch them out to prevent plateaus and all of these dvds will make you sweat ;)

I'm also interested to see what everyone else lists as their fav dvd workouts :D

JelBelle: I think your dress looks very 80's and can be rocked out as such ;)

KimL: Congrats on your scale reading, also good your school does challenges- I bet that helps a lot of people, so no one has to do it alone :) You sure are a caring person, to care for your family and friends the way you do... glad they all have a good person like you in their lives. Krizstyling: Kudos to you for losing weight "the right way". Its the only way that's healthy and the only way we'll keep it off. You've come a long way... congrats and keep it up :D And I think its cute that you were cute for Obama ;) Good for you going to/sticking with the boot camp! Glad y'all have something like that (group setting with similar goals).

toastedsmoke: Really good and determined of you to stick with your workout plans, even if you don't feel like it. That strong determination to "get it done" will help you reach your goals. :lifter: A tangly situation with the guy you like.. I wrote at bottom of my post about our inner feelings, like how you mentioned. I know that's a big part of it. All I can say is follow your heart (it will usually steer you right) and maybe be honest with him or consider how long it will take before you're willing to meet him. Weigh the pros/cons both ways. Having been friends online for 2 years, I'd think that'd be more important than looks. We're here to listen if you need to think more on it. Good luck!

stacy: Good job on eating right and staying away from food at night. I also have that nighttime eating problem (eating cause I stay up late or even eating to try to stay awake). Food is a big part of it, so kudos and keep it up!

princessdi: I'm happy for your NSV :D Very sweet of your boyfriend to encourage you. Its harder for those who see us every day to notice gradual changes, so you know its noticeable since he picked up on it. yay! *hugs* Love positive comments.

Thanks everyone, for the progress pic comments. I wish everyone had the opportunity to workout in a supportive group setting like that.. I guess there's the misconception that pole/exotic dance classes are targetted towards pleasing men... but its NOT. The classes (at this studio anyway) are targetted towards women and they encourage and discuss loving yourself and your body.. their motto is "feel internally transformed" (F.I.T.) and I think that's the goal when we work out. It true though, after really sticking with a workout (3+ times a week) and seeing some results (lbs or inches lost, clothes fitting better) leads to the inner transformation (feeling better/self-confident).

And for today's question: ah, Halloween... I love it. I would love to be dressed as a sexy kitty, vampire, World of Warcraft Night Elf or Succubus, Bettie Page, or Rogue ('90s X-Men cartoon) or Harley Quinn ('90s Batman cartoon; Joker's cute accomplice) :D I have the night elf ears, but would love to wear a slinky (skin-baring) outfit :o

(Spooky Fest at Kiddo's school last Saturday- you can see my ears! LOL)

(A more accurate outfit for a Night Elf / One I'd like to be able to wear and feel/look good in) ;)

KimL1214: Did you make it out for some exercise today or is the weather too bad? We're finally having some nice weather here. It rained on and off for weeks!

toastedsmoke: The videos I was most successful with were the Firm videos. A lot of people really like the old ones and really hate the new ones (like the Wave system) and I was somewhere in between. I used the TransFIRMer system plus others as add-ons. Turbo Jam is also really good for cardio, but I never stuck with it long. I have two left feet and never felt very graceful following the choreography.

Thanks everyone for NSV comments! I had another food free night last night and it's been reflecting on the scale. I'm down two pounds from my Sunday weigh-in!

Today's Question: I like Halloween, but my husband and I never really do anything for it. A costume to me means Comic-Con! I'd love to go one year and dress up. I never would now for fear of ending up in one of those "cosplay gone wrong" slideshows you always see. I'd probably do someone from Street Fighter like Ibuki or Chun Li or one of the characters from Harvest Moon. The latter is definitely less revealing. Those Street Fighter girlies don't where a whole lot!

toastedsmoke: Firstly, I would recommend Turbo Jam, it is an AWESOME workout, and it's really, really, REALLY fun! It feels like dancing/martial arts/self defense. You burn a ton of calories and you build up arm muscles very quickly, and also learn a lot of moves that could be applied to any emergency situation (not that that would happen). And yeah, it's not so much my physical appearance as it in my mental state. If I believe I'm unattractive, I will be more reserved. I feel like my personality is getting hidden under all this weight, and it's stopping me from having confident relationships.

stacy: I'd love to see a Chun Li costume/cosplay :D You could probably find a skin-tone liner/catsuit (pantyhose-type/thin material?) to cover up underneath if too revealing. Another good one would be Felicia from Darkstalkers (old arcade game).

Definitely dream costumes... but still within our powers to make wearable by next Halloween ;) We're smart to wait until we'd look good in them...

A lot of people on 3fc seem to love Turbo Jam, I'll definitely check that out and thanks ferretgirl for the Beto Zumba review, there aren't any zumba classes around here and I've heard lots of good things about it so I wanted to give it a go. I've been "shredded" (30DS) and also have NMTZ and BFBM and was actually thinking of doing a Jillian 30-day slim down month for November as suggested here: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/20-somethings/209508-jillian-michaels-30-day-slim-down.html (does anyone want to do it with me starting Nov. 1?? <said in pathetically hopeful voice>). I guess I'm looking for variety and new workout DVDs so like I said, keep the suggestions coming.

I haven't worked out yet today. <Shakes head at self> I'm lying down with my computer, procrastinating (i.e. hoping if I put off exercising long enough, it will soon get late enough for me to decide it's no longer worthwhile to do it tonight). It's just gone 1.12a.m. and technically I should go to sleep, but I'm going to get up and still work out a bit after I post this. No excuses! <but a degree of whining to self allowed>

Marie Claire is the ONLY non-fashion specific "womens" magazine I read so it was awful to see them associated in that article. I'm more sad than upset by what was said in the article, it's everything that I try to convince myself daily that people aren't looking at me and thinking, but apparently they are! Ah well... To be honest though, I too feel somewhat uncomfortable (but also admiration in a way) watching obese people PDA not because I think it's "disgusting" or they should "get a room," but because I'm just uncomfortable imagining what all the skinny people around probably have snarky things to say. (The admiration part is from seeing to people who by society's standards should be uber-self-conscious and trying to be inconspicuous, not giving a hoot what anyone thinks and being themselves within their relationship, even in public).

I'm also super inspired that you're training for a half-marathon. I'd like to do that someday. What programme if any are you using? Also congrats on your wedding!

oOPeanutOo: I ended up working out for like a little over an hour between 2 & 3am ish (idiocy, I know ) and then was a bit wired afterwards and so didn't sleep till about 4am (setting up my iPod playlist for the gym today of all things!!!). Then got up early for work etc. So once again, another gym day, another headachy day. But I'm still determined to go. I'm at 1212 minutes so far for the month and determined to hit 1500 by Sunday! How about you? What did you end up having for dinner? Chocolate or non-chocolate (the two main food groups- jk)? I know the feeling on Sunday I had cookies for brunch and ice cream for dinner (totalling about 1200 calories) and that was all I ate. It was good though, but I felt quite ill/sugared-out afterwards- not good!

Today was a good weigh in day. I was back down to pre-TOM low of 220.5 , however now I'm nervous that it may be a fluke (even though I weighed 2ce) and am nervous about Saturday's weigh in (that's the official one/ ticker change day)! I think I'm extra worried bcos dinner this evening is going to be pretty high calorie (its the local cuisine and I kind of have to eat it and I think the 1 meal might be like 1200cals eek! And goodness knows how many carbs and fats, although to be fair it will have lots of green leafy veggies in it, just sauces up with all the bad stuff)! However I've tried to plan for it, first I thought I would just not eat anything till dinner time- maybe have a glass of juice or something, but because I'm going to the gym after work, that's no good, I need the energy. So I've decided to have a couple of lean beef sausages (100cal/ea.) so as to avoid carbs (getting a goodly amt tonight) but still have a little energy for the workout. Ah well... This is life, can't stress too much about single meals. It's done and I've tried to plan for it and so I should move on and get over it. Ok team, I'll update later.

toastedsmoke I started using the C25K program, but it was just too slow for me. Was just really hard to get into it when I was only run/walking. I'm sure it's great for some people, but it wasn't my style. A co-worker's sister was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, and they joined a program called "Team in Training". Without too much of a soap box schpeel (sp?), its running program/fundraiser for leukemia and lymphoma research. They map out a five month program calendar that will have you running a half marathon (or a marathon for the truly adventurous) at the end. They raced out in San Francisco just last weekend, but I decided to finally get involved. I haven't fully enrolled with T.I.T. yet, but am using their training program until I get the packet back from them in the mail. I can send you a link to the calendar if you'd like. If everything goe according to plan, I'll be running my half marathon on June 5, 2011 in San Diego. :D

jelbelle I'm always excited when I see someone from Michigan on here!! :) Whereabouts in the area are you at? Let me tell you, the best motivation to run was to sign up for the Turkey Trot! Figured since I have already paid to do it, I have to do it. Plus I'm telling EVERYONE and their brother that I am doing it; if I miss a run I feel guilty. Kind of a backwards way to get motivation, but it helps me get through my runs!

Ok, so weird question, but one I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone else. If there are any guys reading this, I apologize ahead of time for the extremely female topic haha! Anyways, I am very big chested, currently pushing a DDD. My mother just recently went to the doctor to talk about a reduction, and when they weighed her bust, she said combined they weighed a total of 23 pounds, and she is smaller than I am (without them, I would be like 180!!!!). I have yet to lose any inches in my bust, although I have lost everywhere else, including 5 inches in my waistline. I know that eventually, some of it has to come off, and I have a feeling it will not be a pretty effect. Does anyone know any really good exercises that would help keep my chest toned, and not let it look so... deflated when all is said and done? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!! :)

This has been an awesome week for me! I started really exercising again Monday. I walking Monday and went "wunning" (run/walk) last night and will wun again Friday night. It's been a few months since I've been able to run cuz of a busy busy schedule with the kids. I would love to be up to running 2 miles straight by thanksgiving..that's my goal!

Here's a question for you all about goals..how do you chose your goal weight? Now that I've gotten so close to mine I'm not sure I want to stop there but wondering if I should just keep going or drop another 10 and then re-evaluate again. I feel like my butt/hips/belly could stand to get smaller yet...

zephyr524~ A lot of people chose a weight goal, but end up changing it as they get closer. I know my goal is 140, but my doctor has told me that 150-160 might be more realistic, but we'll see when we get closer. Some people reach their goal, then re-evaluate and go for more. As long as you're within a healthy range, go for it!

princessdi86~ Free weights are your best bet. I lost a full cup size 2 years ago with lots of cardio and strength training. Butterflies and bench breast will work those muscles the most.

excitedtolose~ T.I.T. sounds AMAZING! Let us know if you start up with that!

toastedsmoke~ Do you know what's on the menu so you can plan for the lightest meal? I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if you are hitting the gym afterwards. Any activity you can do after dinner to help kick in your metabolism will help also. Most of all, HAVE FUN tonight! I was beyond infuriated by that article yesterday. Someone asked me if I thought it might be a publicity stunt... if it was, it was definitely the wrong kind of publicity. If I had the other DVDs, I would do the slim with you, but I only have 30DS :(. I'll look for them this weekend and maybe I can join you part way in if I find them!

Over the last couple years I have gotten louder and more confident in who I am, not so much in how I look, but how I know that I am a good person that people will want to get to know. Maybe that sounds cocky, I don't know. What worries me is the relationships I'm missing out on because people only see what's on the outside. I know that means they really aren't worth my time, but it's still discouraging.

The weather ended up clearing yesterday and we ended up getting up the mountain. It was entertaining because we chose to try the trail this time, versus the road, and we spent most of our time on our hands trying to keep ourselves from falling on our faces. Tonight is a restaurant night, so I really need to make sure I have something planned before I go there as I don't want to totally fall apart because I didn't plan... Almost Friday!!!

princessdi86 Yay for accounting! I have finished my 150 hours of coursework and graduated with my Bachelor's in Professional Accountancy this past May. I've been working at a small firm that specializes in condominium association audits and personal/corporate tax returns since January. Best job ever! I love it so much! The only thing that stinks for me is that I had to put my CPA exam and exam preparation on hold until after the wedding. Have to make sure the wedding gets paid for first! Hopefully you get that sparkle soon!

I'm still on my veggie kick, haven't had any meat in almost 2 weeks (except for a little bit of lobster on Monday). I had a panini today with roasted red peppers, red onions, spinach, and portobello mushrooms with garlic mayo and cheddar cheese. It was really good, but would have been better with some turkey and cappicola... I think I creeped out one of the science teachers here. He was eating tacos for lunch, and I kept staring at the tacos. The beefy cheesy goodness... ugh. I'm still holding out for meat, but I have a feeling this weekend will be when I break that as my sisters and I are planning on having a "girls" weekend, and I have no idea what is in store for me. I'm going to try to plan with one of my sisters tonight for food, but with work, I'm not sure if I'll get home before she goes to bed. Going to be an entertaining weekend...

Even though I was ravenous when I started. I worked out for like 110 minutes before the dinner... It was rough, it was such an effort (because it was like 5pm and I'd had water and 200cal all day), like I wanted to stop but I pushed through and it got done! I really hope you find the other dvds so you can join in! I'm not even an outdoorsy person but even I can appreciate how absolutely gorgeous the pictures are. I went to undergrad in New England (Mass.) and so this is such a great reminder of the gorgeous fall colours of the trees. Makes me miss NE. Also, well done for making it so long without meat! WOW!!! I tried to give up meat/fish at just dinner for a week and I couldn't do it!

ferretgirl: Wow! It really does make a difference! Well done!! Also, thanks for listing the Zumba playlist. I'm definitely interested, it looks fun. I think it will be a definite on my wishlist.

Hi Ladies,

I will post the calendar tomorrow for the T.I.T. training program. It's saved on my office computer so I will add it tomorrow morning. Just finished with my evening run. Freezing cold rain and I do not mix very well, as I ran a 13 minute mile tonight... but I did have to tie my shoe twice, so I'm blaming the overage on that. :D Time to head back home and spend some quality time with SEXY Bob Harper and his yoga video. :drool: He's so much nicer to look at than Jillian! hehe

toastedsmoke~ I have to remember to write the titles down tomorrow, what are the full titles? I would be proud of myself for not cleaning my plate as that is a bad habit I have. They say you should request a to-go box when you get your meal and pack half of it away so you don't eat it, but I have only successfully done this a couple times (I feel kinda weird and the waitresses always give me a funny look, even though when people ask me to get them a box, I know exactly what they're doing and am really nice about it). Great job pushing yourself and getting a good workout in!

Friday, Saturday & Sunday Question~ Whether it be in a good way (you want them to be proud of you), or more to rub it in their faces that you did it (and look better than they do now)... Who are one, two or three people that you canít wait to see when you hit goal?

I would love to hit goal right around the time our next family reunion is (every July). I love my family, but a lot of them made cracks this year about how the 3 girls (my sisters and I) all are pretty plump. My oldest sister is the smallest of us, then me, then my other sister. We joked along with them, but it really bothered all of us. Then there are the 2 exes, both of which always criticized my weight. They both acted like they were being supportive, but would always make cracks whenever I ate something "unhealthy" or skipped a workout. I would love to be in a super sexy outfit and just make their jaws drop. And when they approached me... blow them off! Evil, yes. But I still want it.

I got my flu shot today, and it completely wiped me out. I had a little bit of time between school and waitressing, so I came home, threw my work clothes in the dryer and PASSED OUT! I almost made myself late to work. Nice thing about the shot is that they're using smaller needles, so I barely felt it, and I haven't had any problems with my arm except for a tiny bit of soreness. Last year I had a cold when I was supposed to get my flu shot, so I couldn't. Two weeks later I got swine flu and was out of school for almost three weeks. I was not going to let that happen this year. I don't know if any of you had the luck of getting swine last year, but it REALLY SUCKS! I've had the regular flu before, and this was 10 times worse. They gave me muscle relaxants and pain killers, and the body aches still fought through that and made me absolutely miserable. Plus the other fun stuff that requires lots of bathroom time, lots of hydrating just to have it come right back up or out... UGH... ANYWAYS!

I'm looking forward to a great weekend with my sisters. It will be challenging though as both of them love food as much if not more then I do and neither of them are trying to lose any weight right now. I'm hoping that they will work with me a little bit since they know I'm trying really hard to lose weight. I might be able to get online a couple times at my sisters, but if not, I'll try to get on a couple times tomorrow, and then will be MIA until Sunday night.

Remember, if you're worried about not weighing in on time Sunday, weigh in early. You can always edit your weigh in post later on if you get a chance, better then missing a weigh in!

Answer to Friday/Saturday Question: The number one person would be my ex fiance. Complete jerk, and though he was/is much bigger than I, he made a comment when he left me for another woman (who is also bigger than I... go figure!!!) stating that I had gained too much weight for him, and I wasn't pretty anymore. He attributed this to a major reason why he left me for the other woman. Love the fact that I will be flaunting not only my new and improved hot bod, but also my incredibly yummy boyfriend as well :) I hope it is a huge slap in the face for him!

excitedtolose: I'm from Monroe, but I go to school in Detroit and I'll be moving to the city next fall (we hope). I really want to be able to participate in those runs, but I'm slowly building my way up! I can imagine that you feel proud telling everyone, heck yeah, I would be too!!

Kim: I certainly do feel like I'm missing out, and I also feel scared to reach out to people, because I have poor self-esteem I don't want to talk to anybody, I just want to get out of public places as quickly as possible. Because of that I refrain from doing a lot of things around my school, going to games, even going to the mall!!! I hate that self-conscious feeling and I'm tired of it consuming my life :(

Question of the Day: All of my skinny, pretty little cousins ACK! I think my extended family in general. Mostly it's this particular side of my family (my mom, her mother, her brother) that is the "overweight" side, and I hate that image. The majority of our family is very, very thin, or they were once bigger, but have lost their weight. I'm sick of being the outcast at family get togethers. I don't want to be the fat cousin anymore, and I think I'd like them better if I wasn't so uptight about myself around them.

Also my best friend, who I don't see a lot because she lives far away from me. She's also overweight, but even though she WANTS to be thinner, she doesn't see the need to do anything about it. Once we were on the phone, watching The Biggest Loser together, and I was explaining my fears of growing into those people and having a lot of health problems. The thing is, I'm only 18, so I'm young for a lot of serious problems, but for my height, I am as big as a lot of the contestants on that show. I'm not one of these vanity losers who want to shed a couple pounds for whatever reason, like a lot of my thinner friends do, no, I am in serious need of changing myself.

So I told her that I wanted to do something about it because I honestly do fear developing diabetes, or not being able to get myself off a couch, having terrible trouble breathing, and I remember her telling me how unnecessary all of that was, and that I was being stupid for worrying. I know she was trying to be my friend and, in her own way, tell me I wasn't fat, like I guess she felt it was her job to do, but shouldn't she, as my friend, be concerned about my health? Being this big IS NOT HEALTHY! but she made it seem like it was perfectly okay!! I think a lot of that stems for her own insecurities. I hope that if she sees how much healthier I am, it will be enough to sway her to lose weight too, since none of my words seem to be getting through.

zephyr524 Ė sounds like youíre having an awesome week so far. I think aiming for 2 miles straight is a great goal to set. As for my goal weight, I just went with a number that I thought I would feel comfortable at and could realistically maintain. I think the key is comfort. If I donít feel okay at my first goal then Iíll re-evaluate

KimL1214 Ė Those photos are amazing. Iíd love to have a view like that near me. Do you have any activities planned with your sisters yet for the girls weekend or will it just be a catch up and gossip session? I think it would be awesome to be able to blow off your exes. I donít see it as evil at all.

Jelbelle Ė I think using your best friend as added motivation is an excellent idea. I agree that itís about her own insecurities and not about you.

Iím pleased to report that I avoided the chocolate altogether & made a very quick vegetable stir-fry. Probably one of the better decisions Iíve made.

This weekendís question: Iím another one in the boat that wants to run into an ex when I reach my goal. He was the type of guy who would make me feel self conscious and very uncomfortable around him whenever weíd go out for a bite to eat or even just go shopping. Heís the only one who has ever been able to make me feel down on myself. I endured all the teasing throughout school but never took it to heart. When I think about things now, I donít even know why I went out with him for so long. Iíd never let someone treat one of my friends like that yet I didnít think I deserved better. My opinion has definitely changed now though.

So this makes Day 5 that my student has been out of school. I think it's getting to the point where his parents are having a hard time getting him to come back to school. So another boring day... and of course I'm tired, so now I'm even more tired sitting in front of a computer with nothing to do all day except babysit kids and watch movies. Rough, yes. Haha, I know, sounds like a cushy job. Normally things are much more interesting though, and just sitting around has made me really bored and just want to go home and sleep.

The only thing I know so far about this weekend is that one of my sisters wants to go to church on Sunday. I haven't been in quite some time, due to my lack of interest in falling asleep during the sermons. She says this is much more interesting though, music is more contemporary, etc. We'll see...

They're predicting snow this weekend!!!

Today's question: Ohhh there's so many people I'd love to see. I think I'll just put them in groups. First of all, my mom's high school reunion is this summer and we're going down to the beach in Alabama to visit my dad's side of the family afterwards. I plan on rocking a two piece bathing suit this year. :D My whole extended family has a problem with weight, and two of my cousins have successfully lost weight (one lost 115 lbs and has kept it off for three years). Most of the rest of my family is still overweight, and it'd be nice to rub it in their faces because I was always looked down upon, even when I was just a kind of awkwardly chubby child. I also want my cousin who lost the 115 lbs to be proud of me, because we're really close. Secondly, I haven't been home to see my parents and brother since Labor Day and I'm not going home until Thanksgiving. I'd like to come home and for them to be impressed (and plus my mom wants to go shopping...she's paying :carrot:). I also want my mom to see my progress, because she's struggled with her weight for most of her life and I worry about her sometimes. Lastly, I can't wait to go home and see my very skinny and fit friends. I don't want to rub it in their faces... they were always very good to me. But I want to finally feel like I fit in with them. I suppose that sounds kind of bad, but I'd love to be able to go shopping with them or go swimming without feeling so self conscious.

Right now, it's like 48 degrees F here and that makes me happy. :D It's been in the upper 80s and 90s as a high for weeks. I'm excited that it's finally starting to feel like winter. And I also finally get to edit my signature now. Yay! :)

katybelle: Our answers were pretty similar! I don't want to be the one looked down upon in my family because of my image. I feel like I'm stranded because I'm so much bigger than them. I also feel that way with my friends, and I want to be able to go out and do something without having to making silly jokes about my weight in order to explain why I can't or don't want to.

Kim: I'm definitely ready for some snow! And it sure looks like it's getting there!

Hi everyone! Sorry I have been sort of MIA this week! I have been super busy lately. I am getting SO close to my next important mini goal... breaking out of the 300's. Today I weighed in at 301.4 :) I am hoping that by this weekend or at least next week I will be in the 200s! When I first started this weight-loss, my goal by Christmas was to lose 81 lbs so that I would be under 300. I have now bumped it up to 100 lbs by Christmas and am optimistic that I will be able to do that. Hope everyone else is having a great week!

So I was a bit upset with myself yesterday for not working out. Granted, I did have to make a late, late Walmart run... my coworkers and I have been so stressed that we totally forgot about Halloween! So I bought some ears and such for everyone. I choose to be the bunny :) Did not get to bed till about 1am, an had to be up at 6, a little sleepy today. I'm hoping to exercise early, before dinner, though I typically like to exercise after. I have my 4th weigh in, and I'm a little nervous. This one will tell me if I've made my mini-goal in the time frame that I wanted. I want to be under 200 by November 1st, which would be a 7 pound loss from last Saturday. Completely possible since in my first 5 days on this program I lost almost 9... but I'm worried about my water intake, and exercise for this week (I skipped 2 days :( ). Last week I was surprised though, I was certain I hadn't lost anything, and had lost 5.2, so that is always great! I just really, really want to be ok with taking holiday photo's this year, and not feel so huge!

Jelbelle: I identify sooooooooo much with a lot of the things you say. It's like you take them right from my mind. As you said to Kim, I feel like now, my weight has made me wayyy more antisocial or made me feel uncomfortable (almost to the point of anxious, even though I hide it) in unfamiliar situations and/or meeting new people and/or trying new things because maybe I think people are judging me. It's a really sad way to live so I totally identify. And that social anxiety if nothing else, is an excellent reason to lose weight. Man is a social being by nature after all, no? Also, weirdly your answer to today's quezzie is pretty similar to mine, except it's my dad's side of the family that are the skinny minnies- not a chubby one amongst them (7 uncles, 1 aunt and tons of cousins) not even my aunt who popped out 5 kids (aged 28-15) and has never been more than a size 6/8. Lucky I love her to death or I'd detest her and her skinny kids.

southernbelle: Congrats!!! Your loss so far has been so inspirational!! (I've kind of stalked some of your posts on other 3FC boards and WIW!!!) Well done!!! I think a 100-lb loss by Christmas is definitely doable at the rate you've gone so far! Again congrats on pretty much reaching a major milestone!!!

I worked out today. Which is good because sometimes it's hard to push myself on non-gym days to do anything. I got 40mins in. But I'm thinking I might add a few more (maybe half an hour) before bed. And by "thinking I might," what I mean is i don't want to, but I should if I want to reach my 1500 minute workout target (currently at 1330mins) for the month by Sunday... especially since I know the likelihood of me working out tomorrow is slim to none and "slim" may just not be home tomorrow.

Today's Question: The people I most want to see are my dad's family. I'm much closer to them than I am to my mom's family and they're all slim, every single last one of them! And not just slim, slim with good bodies! All tall, long-legged and big-boobed (well ok in comparison to their teeny bodies). And they don't make me feel bad about my weight (well some of my uncle's wives make "beechy" faux-helpful suggestions about what to do to lose- though all being also skinny what would they know about it) but I feel like the fat cousin. Like they're thinking my dad married the fat lady who gave her fat genes to his fat kids and no one has ever been fat in the family before. And in reality, i'm sure they're not thinking anything that mean, but that's how it feels. So them, first definitely. Then all the guys who I crushed on but didn't give me a second look before! Then my friends from undergrad who don't care either way what size I am but will be happy if i'm happy, and then all my skinny friends and classmates from high school (a reunion post-weighloss would be EXCELLENT! HA!!!)

hi all, sorry i ent been around for a few days things have got alittle hectic at my moms house!
i hope everyone is well!!! ive been rushed off my feet this week from gardening to moving furniture panting and decorating to going for a jogg (wooo i jogged for 22min with out stopping!) zumba and shopping (for daughters school stuff) so im hoping for a good reading on the scale! fingers crossed :)

Every time I'm with the other side of the family, I feel like they're always judging me because I'm fat, even though I doubt it would even cross their minds, but I can never stop thinking it myself. It's like that in all situations. I'll go out somewhere and 99% of the time all I'm thinking is "everyone is staring at how big I am!". And what I really hate is that I have always been this way, ever since middle school, and instead of turning it all around right then I just got bigger and bigger. None of my current friends ever even knew me when I was thin except for my very best friend who I met when I was six (isn't she lucky?!), and so I can't wait to be thin to show everyone around me, I think it would shock them! One I am thinner and I feel great about myself, I wish I could run into every single guy I crushed on and show them my new hot bod and all the great personality they missed! At my high school reunion I will be rubbing my good health in their faces!

haha.. fun question. First would be my current "BF" (since he's a downer regarding weight, with mean comments!), pretty much to rub in his face b/c his comments tick me off... he's been nice about it these past couple weeks, since I've been losing lbs but STILL. Second would be my ex (HS sweetheart/"the one that got away", lol), maybe so he'd be proud and compliment me or maybe so he'd regret letting me go ;) Trying to think of anyone who's said anything catty to be about weight. Once, father-in-law's mother said a comment that I looked heavier or not as thin, but don't think she meant to be offensive.. I've noticed that after age 20 and having a child, my metabolism stinks! Can't just eat right OR workout- gotta do both, CONSISTANTLY..

Doing the 3FC 20-somethings October Challenge. I met weight loss goal (lost 5+) and so far have exercised 8.5 of my 12 hours. I stopped eating fast food roughly 2 weeks ago (will only order grilled chicken salad- no dressing or cheese or a grilled chicken wrap-meat and veggies only). I'm attributing my progress to joining 3FC Challenges (holds me accountable to goals I set), zumba (30+ min a day) and eating right ;)

peanut: I hope so too, but I'm already gaining some confidence even with what little weight loss I have accomplished, so that's a positive sign. Rain isn't always such a bad thing! Even though you're stuck in door, you can do little things around the house, or just be productive in any way =)

ferretgirl: All of my weightloss is due to this site! It really keeps me motivated and on track. I start Zumba next Friday, I'm really nervous about my first class :(

Soooo, my weigh in today revealed that I have lost an additional 3.2 pounds, a little less than I would have liked, but still a loss nonetheless! That puts me at a total of 21.2 pounds lost in less than a months time, so I guess I'm not doing so bad! Maybe by Monday I will be 3.8 pounds down if I really work hard at it, and not cheat this weekend! I want to reach my under 200 goal in the WORST way! I have lost a total of 8 inches in my waist, which is great as well, can't wait til I lose 10 more! Also, new NSV: I bought a really cute Halloween shirt from Target last month in a size large. When I got home and tried it on, it looked wayyy too tight, not at all attractive. I tried it on for the first time since then today, and it fits PERFECTLY! I need to try to take a picture and post it on here, it makes me really happy!

Aw thanks southernbelle! I have to say, I agree, constantly wondering about what strangers think has been a big "issue" for me. Even though most people have never really said anything about my weight, it's ME who thinks it. I am self conscious when it comes to strangers.

Riding the train I would never sit in a seat that was available if two other people were on the other side of it. I thought they'd be like "oh great here comes a fat girl to squish me".

Already I am finding myself sitting on the train with no worries =) It feels really good. Can't wait til I'm the "skinny" girl sitting down that people don't mind lol.

I found that working out outside while people are going to work REALLY helps my esteem. Our trainer has been amazing in helping me realize that I am way too self conscious and it's all in my head. He also puts me front row to be displayed when I'm working out. It REALLY HELPS! LOL Gotta hate/love relationship with that!

Hey everyone, how was weigh in today? Let's go team Phoenix!!! I was 3lbs down from last week which was very exciting. I'm finally in the 2-teens. Yay!!! 219 lbs but that's a new low (well since I was 18 anyway). Also, kind of a (mini?) milestone is that I'm officially just over halfway to goal. As of today, I've lost 56 lbs and have 54lbs to go. I have to say it still seems really overwhelming to me, I kind of know it's in my mind though and so I'm trying to be really positive. I think like the point where I have like 40lbs or less to go, I'll feel like I'm really on the home stretch. Right now it still feels like I have a whole lot left to go, so I'm not feeling super excited (OR as excited as I am by the smaller picture of being in the 2-teens)! October workout goal-wise, I did a major workout yesterday and now have just 68 minutes to reach my 1500-minute target. I am however really sore (waist, hips and butt are killing me!), so I'm debating whether or not to do a little something tonight... hmmm...

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels super self-conscious in public, sometimes I feel like maybe I'm neurotic but we can't all be. Or if we all are, since we have different experiences, then it must be one more negative thing the extra weight brings to our lives. And thank goodness it's something we can get rid of and change.

princessdi86: You're soooooo close to onederland that I'm sure you'll be there any day now!!! Well done you! Can't wait to start 30-day slimdown with you! I actually lost 10.5lb this month which is way more than normal for me. But it's making me believe that it might be possible to get to Onederland by the end of the year (my actual year-end goal is 209), and I think this might be an excellent way to really kick the weightloss up a notch in November to possibly lose another 10 lbs??? Fingers crossed! We can totally rock this!

Toastedsmoke: 56 pounds?!?! WOW! That is INCREDIBLE!!! I have no idea where I got the 14 pounds from... but 56 proves my point even more! You are Super Woman!!! I have total faith that you can make it to onederland by the New Year! With the new exercise routine, I definitely believe you can lose 10 pounds in November!!! I'm going to weigh myself again on Monday, which I typically don't do, I only allow myself one weigh in a week, but I'm trying so hard this weekend to lose the last 3.8!

I'm on my sisters lap top right now, we're getting ready to take off, but I wanted to check in real quick! I hope everyone has had a great weekend! I was right about my sisters passing out early last night. The funny part is that I had told them that I suspected that would both be sleeping by 9, and they were both snoring by 8:30! I had gotten a little excited when we had talked about going out to one of the bars down the street, but secretly knew that it wasn't going to happen. We did have drinks at Applebees last night, and one of my sisters barely finished one margarita and was buzzing hard core. It was really funny because her face turned bright red! Definitely going to need the Jillian Michaels slim program to get rid of some of the extra pounds I'm sure I put on this weekend!!!

I did PM one of the moderators who started 3FC to ask if I could get access as a moderator in the 20-somethings TBL corner, and was granted access. If you notice that your weigh in post has moved in the weigh in thread, it's because I deleted some posts made by people that have dropped from the challenge. Makes things a lot easier for me... I can also edit people's posts... which I really don't want to do as I find it kind of like an invasion, but I will edit weigh in posts for people that miss weigh-ins (I will wait until after the weekly stats have been posted to try and give people a chance if for some reason they're a little late).

I'll check in again tonight! Until then, if you haven't posted your weigh in yet, please do so ASAP to make sure you don't miss the deadline!

I had a great weigh in today! Lost three pounds and am below 250 pounds, and have lost OVER 10% of my body weight!! I'm definitely doing the happy dance for completing my second mini-goal!

Grats excitedtolose! That's excellent!!

I started my weight loss journey on Sept 15th, and I think this is the longest I've ever stayed on plan before! This month I lost 12lbs! So I am proud of myself! Even with school and stresses, I still managed to lose some weight, even if it was ounce by little ounce, that means something to me. It means I'm an improved person from where I was at the beginning of Sept. In just that short amount of time I'm getting out and trying new things I never thought I would, as well as things I've always wanted to try. I've felt better that I have physically maybe my whole life!!

This was just a bit of a personal pep talk for myself, to keep going at a steady pace. Keep moving forward. I hope it helps you ladies too!

Weighed in at 210 this morning, -2.2lbs loss!

Update on my 1500-minute workout target: I was in agony today (hips, waist, and butt) as I've been since Friday's workout but sheer stubborness made me do my cardio+strength+tone yoga dvd today just so I could get to my minutes. Ended October with 1502 workout minutes. (I think I'll set November's target at 1200). I was tempted to rest up today for next month's Jillian butt-kicking, but I was so close to my target that I didn't want to let myself down. I'm glad I did it, but man, it hurts, even sitting hurts.

Weekend was GREAT!!! I just need to work on getting back on track and kicking some serious a$$ this week! Food and beverages were off most of the weekend, but has greatly improved today. I was hungry when I got home tonight, but instead of indulging in something evil, I grabbed a jar of dilly beans out of the fridge and have been munching on those.

Question of the Day: Well, I have wanted to try some form of martial arts class, but I've always been too self-conscious to do it in a classroom setting. I am currently working to overcome that fear this coming week as I'll be joining a Zumba, Step Aerobics, and Yoga for beginners class. So I'll build my way up =)

Everyone else: How did you do on Halloween? Did you give into candy temptations? I hadn't had any candy all month, but today I gave in and had two pouches of Butterfinger Snackers = 150 cals (I believe).

Jelbelle – I think it would be pretty cool to be able to pick up some form of martial arts. I’m always a little bit jealous of the people who have the concentration and commitment to excel at that.

My weekend took a little turn for the worst yesterday. Not food wise or anything like that as I’ve been on plan. Seeing as it was still pouring with rain I decided it was the perfect opportunity to install some Holland blinds that my Mum had been wanting to put up for a while. I was standing on a mini step ladder that I had used plenty of times before so was only about one metre off the ground and it collapsed on me without warning so I feel pretty hard to the floor. I can see the funny side of it today but am still in quite a bit of pain as I’ve sprained my wrist and hurt my back. I’m just thankful that I didn’t break anything. If that’s not a motivator to lose more weight then I don’t know what is. I was 25kg (55lbs) under the weight limit of what it could hold too so definitely wasn’t expecting that to happen.

Monday’s Question – I’m not sure if this really counts as exercise or is more of an activity but I would love to be able to go Indoor Rock climbing. There is an Indoor wall about 10 minutes from where I work and every time I walk past I just stop and stare at the people who are climbing it. I’ve never had the guts to try it before because I’m a little bit scared of heights and always had those negative feelings of, will the harness fit, what if I fall, can I even hold myself up on the wall etc etc. It’s something that I will definitely get around to conquering.

I did pretty good with Halloween today. I didn't eat any candy, but I did have "dirt." My husband and I make it every year for Halloween. The good thing is we use sugar free pudding, cool whip free, etc. Still not great, I know, but better than nothing. We carved pumpkins today too. I just saw How to Train Your Dragon for the first time yesterday so when I found Toothless pattern on Deviant Art I had to try it. Here's the picture:


Monday's question: Honestly, they're aren't really any exercises I want to try that I haven't already. I've done a lot of different things from triathlons to videos to spin class. I would like to start riding my road bike again at some point, but at 250 pounds that tiny, barely padded seat is more like a torture device. Mostly I'm content just walking with my dogs and lifting.

Mondays Question - 10 weeks ago I would have given you a MILLION and one answers but since joining boot camp I literally have done just about every exercise known to man. He is good about switching it up!

However, there are still two that I haven't done. One is Zumba, I know it's mainly cardio though so not too worried about it.

And the second is boxing, but starting Friday he is going to be teaching us how to box every Friday!! VERY excited about that! It's always good to know how to defend yourself WHILE getting a workout =)

Monday's question: I want to try rowing!!!! My school has a rowing team and I would've joined but they practice during band. :( They're really intense and they do a ton of running, so it would be a lot of hard work. Even now that I'm quitting band I still probably won't be able to join because I have classes that overlap with their practices. But maybe next year. I also want to try yoga or pilates but I've seen all the women who show up for the morning class at the gym and they are all super fit and thin, so I've been intimidated.

Bahhh this weekend didn't go so well plan wise. I had a football game, which made my eating schedule all wacky. Then, on Sunday I went to this nice restaurant with my boyfriend and his parents and even though it seemed like I really didn't eat that much, I ended up being so full. I managed to go for a quick run that afternoon before parties started, and I didn't eat anything but carrots and hummus at the party. And when I weighed myself this morning there was a .6 lb gain. And to top it all off, I slept horribly last night and ended up skipping my morning run this morning. Oh well. Moving on I suppose. I'll make up for it by going running tomorrow, which I normally don't do.

Monday Question~ What is one exercise you have thought about trying, but have never gotten around to? Why?

I never got around to getting a YMCA membership. They have different group fitness classes M-F evenings, which is something I've always been interested in doing. Why not? Probably money. I wouldn't do bank withdrawals, so it would be at least $200(?) Not sure, but knew it was a lot.. still cheaper than dance studios and Curves, but quite a lot of cash to come up with.

I'll say this.. BF said I can lose just as much at home as elsewhere and he was actually right. For month of October (30 days) I lost 8 lbs.. that's the same amount I lost during the FIT Challenge (90 days). During the FIT Challenge I'd work out 5+ hours a week, but still ate fast food 3-5x/week... Last month I set the goal to work out 3 hours/week and to eat right (and actually have been).

Regarding Halloween eating... I ate 1 Fun Size Snickers, 1 single Twizler and an entire bag of microwave fat free popcorn. Not to mention an entire Monster Java can (between yesterday and today). Yeah, I gained half a pound...

Are y'all doing the weekly challenges? Good stuff.

Ah, and this is now on my Wish List: ZUMBA on Nintendo Wii (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=84157)!! (releases in about 20 days; also coming out on 360 and PS3)

Krizstyling~ Definitely get in some Zumba at some point, it is SO MUCH FUN!!! Dilly beans are green & yellow beans that are made like dill pickles (I made almost 20 jars of them), but they are SUPER crunchy and hold a lot more flavor!

I admit that seeing the guys and gals in their bike shorts with their special bike shoes going in in the evenings is a little intimidating, but it's more that I have been too lazy to get my butt in there.

Today has been a LONG day! My student is back in school, but full of spit and fire and he is now WAY BEHIND everyone else. Plus I don't think he really feels that well still. I have to work at the restaurant tonight, so this is just a fly by with a :wave: Depending on how late I get out tonight, I may or may not check in again tonight. I will try to, at the very least, get the next discussion question up later tonight... but I'm not promising... it may have to wait until tomorrow morning...

Peanut: Thank you for the avatar comment :) My boyfriend and I were watching my dad and brother's band play, and decided to take a silly, yet cute picture, and I wanted to share it.

So, I was suppose to start 30 DS this morning with Toastedsmoke and KimL1214. I got up early, weighed myself since it is November 1st to see if I've made my goal, and started getting my lunch ready for work, when I got super sick to my stomach. Needless to say, I called out of work, and have been in bed all day, fighting nausea :( My boyfriend is such a doll, he went out to the store just to buy me soup and ginger ale, and rented me Sex and the City 2.... LOVE it!!! Though I'm super sick, I am so happy to report that I made my minigoal!!!!!! I am officially in Onederland, weighing in at 199.8!! I'm probably even smaller now, but that doesn't exactly count. i am very sorry to not have started the 30 DS, but at least I have this to report :) Toastedsmoke, and Kiml1214, I will be joining you both tomorrow, and may do a double session to catch up!

Today's Question: I would love to try training for an ironman! I think that would be an awesome, yet super challenging workout experience!

Jelbelle's Halloween Question: My Halloween was great! I did cheat a little, but only ate a fun sized m&m pack. First bite of chocolate in over a month... maybe part of the reason why I'm sick today. Chris, my boyfriend, and I went to a good friends house out in the middle of nowhere, and I shot a gun for the first time... something I never thought I'd do, but not bad honestly. Then we played with 2 week old golden retriever pups, sooo cute! Ended the day by having dinner at the future in-laws, and passing out candy to the trick or treaters. Lovely day! I hope you had a wonderful day as well!!! :)

It was good... not super easy, but definitely less sweaty and not as hard as I remember from doing the 30DS. What about you? How'd you find it? But someday, I'd like to try spinning, or water aerobics, or like a regular aerobics class of some kind.

I'm also going to try and get to the gym at least 2-3 times/week, plus my co-worker and I will be hiking are mountain (tomorrow is the weather holds). I would suggest Zumba as a good class to start out with. Everyone looks silly trying to salsa and belly dance, so you get a good laugh while getting a good workout!

Stupid french fries at work. I planned out my dinner perfectly, was doing great, and then we had no customers... One of the other girls was eating fries, and without even thinking about it, I ordered some. Ugh. At least we got super busy later on, or I should say I got super busy. The hostess let all the other girls off because it was so slow and then I had 8 tables come in within 10 minutes of each other. I was running all over the place trying to keep up with everything!

Well I need to crash if I'm gonna get my butt out of bed early to get in my Jillian workout! Quads are a lil sore right now... can't imagine what they're going to be like by tomorrow night after I not only did 30DS, but hiked a mountain as well!!!

Question of the Day: I have lots of goals and mini-goals. Not all of them are weight-related, although there are a good few. I have goals to stay away from things (fast food, soda) for certain amounts of time, and goals to do things not really related to weight loss, or I'll have a goal to get a certain amount or type of exercise in. This month I want to log 30 hours at the YMCA. I also want to try that Tai Chi class. I just have tons of goals, because I neeeeeed motivation!

To answer the question about how Halloween went.... mine was great! I stuck to plan. I went to a party at a friend's house and we took all of the kiddos trick or treating. I knew they would be having hot dogs and didn't want to waste about 300 cals on one so I just brought my own Turkey dogs and ate one of those in a wheat bun they had. Everyone there knows that I am dieting but it was nice to be eating sort of the same thing as everyone else :) They also had gumbo and tons of sweets and I resisted it all (which was hard mainly because I LOVE gumbo!!) I only ate one snack sized pack of skittles as my dessert. I could have had more if I had wanted because I had some extra unused calories at the end of the night but I wasn't really wanting anything else. I try to not totally limit any sort of food while dieting. I find that if I am craving candy, I just go get one chocolate bar or a small pack of m&ms or skittles and have it. I just have to make sure I stay within my calories for the day. It has been very helpful in keeping me from wanting to binge and definitely helped a lot at halloween because I didn't feel the need to eat tons of candy. I can have it (in moderation) whenever I want.

As far as mini goals, I am all about them!! I love reaching new mini goals and they have helped me tremendously in this weight loss journey. Just when I feel like I am in need of some motivation, I hit a new mini goal and have something to celebrate and be rejuvenated by. You can see my mini goals at the bottom of my signature. I am only 1 lb away from my next mini goal (a pretty big mini goal for me :) ).

Ugh... Halloween was definitely rough for me, BUT I did take my lovely puppy (dressed up as a lobster, see the new avatar) for a two mile walk through the neighborhood while all the trick-or-treaters were out, and I took an hour walk through a corn maze with my fiance as well. Luckily all of my exercise cancelled out the calories I consumed in those yummy snack size Kit Kat's, and then some.

Question of the Day -- I like to make my mini-goals both in weight loss, percentages, and NSVs. (I'm an accountant so I love numbers and ratios... go figure that the majority of my mini-goals are percentage based!) I have my MAIN mini-goals in my signature, but I feel that I every day that I successfully stick with my diet and exercise is a mini-victory as well. :)

I set mine mostly by weight. It is just easier for me that way =) However I DO reward myself. For instance at the end of every 4 week cycle of working out 5-6x a week I will go out and eat and I will get fries =) Just one order, not two like before. But that is really my only food reward just because I don't like telling myself I CAN'T have something if I want it, I just put a limitation on it.

I also reward myself for NSV's. Massages, etc. It all just depends on what the NSV is. I haven't had too many YET but a couple is just fine with me =)

Right now, my goals are mostly weight-related. Just easier to see change that way; but at the same time.. I know muscle weighs more, so if I don't lose lbs but get stronger, that's fine. As for making mini-goals, I just set them low enough that they're attainable. Last month was to get down to 130 (achieved, starting at 134), so this month will be to get down to 120 (starting at 127). Oh- a real "mini" goal for me is to workout 3 hours a week (considered a NSV if I achieve exercise goal).

toastedsmoke: The only other Wii fitness games I've tried are the Wii Sports (think it comes as a freebie when you buy the console). Some people consider that an fitness-game, but I think its probably too easy. There's a bunch of dance ones out, but DDR is hard for me (stepping on time) :P I bought Pokemon SoulSilver for Nintendo DS last weekend. It has a pokeball-shaped pedameter, which counts your steps and lets you stick a pokemon inside so he can level up and get cool items the more you walk ;)

Sounds like everyone's doing well, mostly. We lost more lbs. than Team Storm for week 1, lol, so yay for us! Congrats to everyone who's reaching (and reaching towards) their mini-goals :D

My two-cents on group-workouts: if you're interested in trying one, go for it! Ask if they'll let you try or buy a trial (could be 1 class or 2 weeks). If they have a website, look under the FAQs. Chances are someone's already asked what you're thinking (am i ready for/can i take this class? requirements? etc). Or, ask one of the intructors (in-person or over phone). Let them know your concerns and questions. They'll tell you if the class is for ANYone or if there's something easier for newcomers to start with (such as a beginner's yoga/pilates/zumba). A lot of places make the classes for ALL fitness levels or if they see you struggling, they'll show you an easier step/version, so you're still getting the workout, just taking it to your level. With groups workouts too, its ok to pause when you need to; just stop to catch your breath, sip some water, and get back in when you can :) (Some of this paraphrased from my Zumba and Kickboxing dvds; about 'doing as much as you can' and 'sticking to your comfort level').

I have micro goals-5lb increments
Mini Goals- 210lbs, 199lbs, 180lbs, 160lbs
My only real NSV is my thighs...when they stop rubbing together, I've done a good job, lol.

Oof, sorry that I've been away for so long! I got back from vacation on Sunday night and have been crazy busy ever since. I can't believe how much has been discussed since I went away!

Anyways, I was glad to see that my rather horrifying four pound weight gain seems to have been a product of weighing myself at night directly after a plane flight and a hasty meal. It's dropped pretty quickly since Sunday night, and I'm now at 134.7, which is only .7 more than I weighed before leaving. Phew!

I have several mini goals. They were initially weight based, but they've since grown to include exercise goals and other NSVs. Reaching the weight goals keeps me going, but the exercise goals are the most challenging, and the other NSVs are most rewarding.

I posted this in the general support part of the forum but wanted to see what all of your thoughts were as well...

I have been taking 3 different supplements for about a month... a multi vitamin, a fish oil caplet and a biotin caplet. On Saturday, after I took them, I became really nauseous in my car but didn't actually throw up. It passed and I felt okay after that. Today, I took them while I was eating my breakfast and then like 30 min later I got that same sick feeling. However, this time I threw up everything in my stomach. I feel okay now and don't think I am sick. I think it must be the supplements. I wanted to know if any of you have experienced the same thing while taking supplements. Also, how do you think I should handle this? I really don't want to stop taking them. I was thinking maybe I should eat breakfast then take one of them in the morning, one in the afternoon and one at night(with food). Maybe taking those all at one time is just to much on my stomach?? Let me know your thoughts, please.

Today's question: In the past when I've tried to lose weight, I had mini goals but they were always so unrealistic, and that might have been why I wasn't so successful. Now, I've made very realistic mini goals with general deadlines (in fact, I've been achieving them sooner than I planned for) and I also have some rewards planned out, like buying a book or new body wash or a workout DVD. They're mostly scale based goals though. Any NSVs that I've had were more like "oh hey! These old jeans fit me again! Neat!" rather than me actually working towards them. Although being able to walk without my thighs touching is something I'm looking forward to. They definitely touch less I'm noticing. :D

southernbelle: I take a vitamin everyday, and more than once I've felt nauseous or gotten sick after taking it. One time it was because I actually hadn't eaten breakfast, but sometimes if I don't take it soon enough or don't eat enough for breakfast I feel sick. I seem to feel sick pretty easily, but I would imagine that if I was taking three supplements instead of one I would have the same problem! I think it's a really good idea to try taking them at separate times of the day. It's worth a try, at least. Good luck!

Nienna: I'm glad your weight dropped back down again. I can't believe you weighed at night though! You're certainly braver than I am. I never step on the scale once anything's passed my lips for the day. LOL!

Today's question: My goals and mini-goals are all weight related. Of course I'm always hoping to fit into the next smaller size and things like that, but I never really set a goal for it. I just pick a weight I want to be by a certain date and figure the other things (fitness, clothing sizes, etc) will come with the weight loss.

Good stuff! Well taking ANY Biotin on an empty stomach will really upset it, so that's first.

Spring Valley fish oil is great! That's what I use too!

As for Equate, I tried them and they really upset my stomach. I ended up using Centrum Ultra Women's. It has more supplement percentages than most and it really doesn't upset my stomach at all and no after taste!

Still sick, thinking its more of a virus. Finally able to keep down water and ginger ale, but that is it. No solids, no soups even... not a good feeling! Staying home from work again tomorrow, and prob staying in bed all day again :( Obviously, I have not been working out, but I'm hoping to be able to do some walking tomorrow if I'm feeling better.

Today's Question: I definitely set mini goals for myself. If I didn't, I would get seriously depressed if I only look at the big goal! I also set up certain rewards for each mini goal obtained, helps keep me on track. I do it by weight, but I recognize the NSV along the way. I do it by 20-25 pounds per goal.

Stacylambert the kids just seem to love Zoey as she is just a giant cheese ball always pulling stunts for laughs. I had to smile though because as we were walking I heard a kid say, "Mom that's the dog the ate my tail last year." I was mortified last year when she was three months old and wouldn't let the kid walk down the driveway without her attached to the tail of his costume but for him to recognize her this year 60 lbs bigger and full grown was too funny.

stacylambert: I usually don't weigh at night either, but I really didn't want to miss the weigh in, and I wasn't able to weigh myself until 10 pm on Sunday night when I got home. It was pretty frustrating, though!

princessdi86: I hope that you feel better soon; being sick is definitely frustrating, especially when trying to lose weight. I noticed in your answer to today's question that you reward yourself when you hit mini goals. What kind of rewards do you set up for yourself? I've tried saying things like, "At x weight, I'll buy a bath robe, and at y weight, I'll buy a new dress." Unfortunately, when I hit the mini-goal, I don't want to spend any money (I guess I'm a bit cheap)! And with clothing rewards, I just tell myself, "I'll drop five more pounds before going shopping ..." Have you found any ways to reward yourself that don't center around shopping? If so, I'd love to hear them!

oOPeanutOo: I was visiting family in Belgium, and I also went up to the Netherlands for a few days. The Belgian countryside was really beautiful, and it was rather pleasant to see the sun out during the afternoon and early evening (it's been setting rather early here at home). It was very nice, but I'm definitely glad to be home again!

oOPeanutOo: 30DSlimdown is going ok. I've kind of not been excited about working out recently (ok I'm never really excited about working out but what I mean is its been even more of a drag than usual) even though I've been doing it anyway and the 1st 2 days of 30DS kind of gave me an excuse to slack of in terms of exercise. I'd gotten used to at least 50-60+ minutes a day but because I was on plan with exercising, I slacked off on doing something else which is fine technically but which I really shouldn't. What about you? How's your sprain and your back?

Today's Question: I do put a lot of focus on making mini-goals. I find them so very important to staying motivated and pushing on days when you just don't feel like making good choices. My mini-goals are all weight-related.

I have had a hard time with multi-vitamins in the past and found out it was because I'm allergic to one of the sulfa compounds they use to bind the vitamins. Sorry for my absence the last couple of days. Unfortunately I had a couple anxiety attacks yesterday followed by a nasty one today. I took half of the day yesterday and today off from school to try and get myself mentally ready for the rest of this week. I'm pretty sure it mainly has to do with my money situations as they're getting pretty annoying. I work anywhere from 60-80 hours/week and it seems like I'm getting nothing for it... Ugh! I'm glad to have taken the days off and am ready for the days to come. Luckily one thing I've been able to maintain is food. I haven't been able to get any workouts in, but plan on getting up tomorrow morning to get back on track with the slim program.

I have relaxed it a little and allowed a couple women to weigh in early Monday mornings. That really is as far as I can push it though otherwise it messes with when I can do the stats and get them posted. If you want to keep posting late, that's fine, but your weigh ins won't count towards the weekly team stats or individual stats. I'm sorry this messes with your weigh in, but you could always keep your weigh in day, just post early. I used to weigh in on Wednesdays, and I would post for the upcoming Sunday even though it was early. Let me know if you have any other questions.

KimL1214: My vacation was wonderful! I was able to spend some time with a few cousins and an aunt that I haven't seen in several months, and I got to practice my French. I haven't really used it in years, and I expected it to be completely horrible. It's not really good by any means, but it's not as bad as I'd been imagining. The vacation's kind of inspired me to try to move to a Francophone country next. Plus, it was nice to warm up for a change.

I'm not really sure how I should celebrate when I reach goal. I mean, I have things that I plan on doing at some point after reaching goal, but they're not really celebratory acts. I think that just being at my goal weight and feeling good about myself will be a reward in and of itself. I do wish I could think of a really awesome way to treat myself, though. I'll be looking at all your responses for inspiration!

Today's question: I haven't really planned anything spectacular for when I meet my goal. I think part of the reason is I can't imagine myself there yet. I don't know what it's going to be like. I know that a new wardrobe will be in order. I'm definitely going to be rockin' a two piece bathing suit at the beach with my family. But other than that... I don't know. I'm not into tattoos and I've had my ears pierced twice and hated it both times... Actually I do have a somewhat unrealistic reward. As a treat for myself I'd love to go to the new Harry Potter theme park but since I'm a freshman in college and have no job that one's really up to my family. Perhaps I could convince them. :D

I'm freaking out a little because my calories have been right where they're supposed to be yet everyday I step on the scale I see the weight going up. I should be down another couple by now. :(

stacylambert~ :hug:Everything's going to be okay!:hug: There are lots of reasons why your body could be holding onto extra calories. How many calories are you eating a day? Is TOM coming? Are you super stressed out right now (body can go into freak out mode and hold on to extra water weight etc.) Don't get down! If you're doing everything right, then results will show eventually, just may take some time. Important thing is to stick with it! :hug::hug::hug: We're here for you!

katybelle~ LOL, my parents are so worried about my weight that they promised to buy me tickets to Hawaii when I hit the 50lb. mark! I'm sure if you did some serious convincing... you could get them to get you your tickets.

Nienna~ Ohhh, I'm jealous! You could use another trip as a reward, one you've never done before, but always wanted. Shopping is always a good reward, but I feel like it's not big enough for reaching such a big goal. What about doing something crazy as your reward? Skydiving, bungee jumping, anything wild?

Tonight is just DRAGGING on. The food service company here provided dinner, and it was LOUSY! They had lasagna and wraps. I had a pretty good sized chunk of lasagna and a wrap... and I could have had more. You ever eat something that kinda stinks, but because you like eating so much, you want more anyways? Well... I restrained. I could have had more... but I didn't. The lasagna was made with those pre-cooked needles and they really were kinda pasty and nasty.
If any of you liked the Twilight series (yes, I am a closet dork, or at least I try to stay in the closet... but I have a feeling more people know I'm a dork then I would like), I just read a book that has me HOOKED! I just snuck into a colleagues room so I could steal the sequel for the weekend :o The first book is called Need, and is written by Carrie Jones... Kinda odd at first, but I LOVE it. Jealous of the love story (just as I was with Twilight), but happy to fantasize that maybe someday a guy will be willing to go to the same lengths her beau does, for me!

Nienna: I actually do use shopping methods for my mini goals... but typically, they are things that can still be used if weight is lost. My first one that which I actually just hit this past weekend, is a new bra and panty set from Victoria's Secret. I have a coupon for a free panty and $10 off any bra. I will probably get one the simple, yet cute, cotton bras. They are not very expensive, and they feel wonderful! Plus I can still use it after I lose more weight. My other rewards are things like jewelery, purses, and things for work. I know, this isn't exactly the answer you wanted :( Hope it helps anyways!

Today's Question: For my main goal, I am going to reward myself with the Juicy Couture bikini that I really want. I think it will most definitely be worth the money, especially after working so hard!

I was trying to lose weight before last spring break because we were going to Oahu, but it didn't end up happening. Hopefully the next time I go I'll have made my goal. :D And I'm not so sure about convincing my parents. My mom saw a recent picture of me on facebook and asked if I was eating because I looked too skinnny. I was like uhhh yeah of course. She seems pretty supportive, but I feel like she's worried about me. We'll see how it goes though.

KimL1214 Ė The 99kg mark is definitely a mental game for me. I hit over 100kg when I was High School so thatís 7+ years ago. I think part of the reason is that Iím going to feel like Iím actually achieving something if I see that number come up on the scale. Sorry to read about your anxiety attacks btw. stacylambert Ė I recently went through the exact same thing so I can promise you that it happens to all of us. You stay exactly on plan and yet the number on the scale continues to increase. Itís incredibly frustrating but if you stick to what youíre doing, your body will realise you mean business and begin to drop the weight again.

Thursday & Friday Question Ė I hadnít actually thought about a particular celebration for reaching goal before this question was posed. Maybe itís because Iíve always thought that the goal weight Iím aiming for is unattainable. After the discussion on exercises weíd like to try Iíve decided that as soon as I hit goal, Iím going to go Rock Climbing as a celebration to my success. Hopefully it might cure my fear of heights at the same time.

KimL1214: How's it going? Have you been able to restart 30DSlimdown? Good job on resisting the crappy food. I've definitely been there before, wasting calories on awful food that didn't even taste nice (re-heated french fries anyone?). My current goal weight is 207 (weight at age 17) because that's the weight I was after my gap year right before I started college and I actually felt slim then because it was the thinnest I'd been since maybe 8th grade. More on how I'll celebrate later. Also, I'm OBSESSED with Twilight! The other books in the the series kind of annoyed me (whiny Bella from New Moon, to marry or not to marry from Eclipse and my goodness the name Renesmee from Breaking Dawn- Eugh!) but Twilight, I LOVE! Totally! Even though I know it's not for my demographic exactly and I should know better (I'm a dork too, but absolutely shameless). So I've splashed out and acquired both Need and Captivate in ebook form. I usually like my paranormal romance much much trashier (currently reading JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood Series) but I'll go for romantic innocence too. Anyway immediately I sync the Carrie Jones' to my Itouch I'll read them and let you know how I liked them.

Jelbelle: I didn't even know there were such a thing as hip piercings. I couldn't imagine what they looked like and was thinking things like "but how would she lie on her side" so anyway, yeah I googled and now I know. I think it looks cool. Yay about your YMCA membership! How's that going?

excitedtolose: How's the 30-day programme going for you?? Only 25days to go, can't wait!

stacylambert: If you've been totally on plan, you probably haven't just gained 4lbs... it could be TOM like Kim said or you could be retaining water for some other reason (too much sodium- sometimes hidden in things that don't even taste that salty) or you could be sore from exercising which makes your body retain water too. It could be several things. I know it's freaky when the scale throws up a high number you're not expecting, but calm down and know that no matter what, even in the worst case unlikely scenario that you gained 4lbs overnight, you've lost it before and you will lose it again, if you continue to be on plan. But like Kim said, it's probably water retention of some sort, so you'll soon whoosh back to normal or better! :hug:

oOPeanutOo: I'm glad you're feeling better! Yay!

Today's question: I have several little mini-goals but I don't really have any celebration plans for the mini-goals. Like the satisfaction of reaching the goal is MORE than enough for me! For my overall goal, now that's different. First of all, I'm going to go major shopping, it will be crazy! I have some money put away towards this and I think my parents would probably chip in a bit. (Haven't really gone clothes shopping since I started this journey because I went clothes shopping RIGHT BEFORE, so I just keep getting my 275-lb pants taken in, and shaping baggie tops, with wide belts!) Then next, I'll go travelling; I've finally acquired enough frequent flier miles for a round-the-world ticket (1 stop on every continent), and I think reaching my goal weight would be the perfect confidence boost to bust it out and go see some of the world I haven't seen before without feeling "fatly" conspicuous.

Hey everyone! I feel like I've been out in la la land for the last two weeks! I'm finishing up my orientation at work, have just barely caught up in school and am about half way done with my exams...in fact I just had my biochem exam this afternoon. I've sorta fallen off the work out wagon the last couple of weeks :( I'm running on maybe four hours of sleep a night if that. I've just been so exhausted! I promise though I'm gonna start getting my sleep and working out again starting tonight :) I figured if I told ya'll then I'd be more likely to follow through. *crosses fingers*

As far as for reaching goals, I've started getting into sewing, and have started working on clothes. Even though my fiance and I won't be having the traditional wedding, I still want to have a special dress for the day. I'm looking forward to making the dress for the new, fitter me :) My mini goals are usually something same and it's usually based on weight. Five pound increments are easier to deal with lol

And on that note, I'm off to do some homework and then sleepy time for me:) I'm aiming for six hours of sleep tonight!:carrot: I'm gonna need it to make it through work this weekend! lol

Hi y'all!

Kim: barely any working out this week.. spent 2 days cleaning living room instead (my house is a mess, so 2+ hours and still a long way to go). Got in a 15-min walk one morning. It was freezing cold (even the fat, white ferret was shivering.. he crawled around in my sweater and scratched up my pokemon pedameter, lol/grr). So far, this week, only 1 3/4 of 3 hours.

Peanut: I've kept ferrets for about 2 1/2 years now. Adopted my Weasel (black) June 2008 and adopted my Snowball (white) Nov. 2008.

Jelbelle: Your rewards sound awesome, but I want to see what the hip piercing looks like. I've only done ears, eyebrow and nose in teen years ;)

Everyone's rewards sound good! New clothes and massages.. sweet! Never been one for tattoos.. too permanent for me ;) My BF would love to go to the Harry Potter theme park... but wonder if we could ever afford it! :P

Ah, I also own/read all the Twilight Saga books. Of course we'd all like an Edward or Jacob ;) My mom thought they were boring.. probably not enough smut for her, lol! She showed me the Love at Stake series by Kerrelyn Sparks.. I LOVE those books.. Vampire romance novels. Juicy good reads with good stories, funny parts. She may have up to 10 books out now in her series. Her website has excerpts from all the books. I wish I could have one of HER vamps ;)

My mom wants me to go with her to a tamale fest tomorrow.. great... lol. Of course all good-tasting food is bad for our waistline :( I guess this'll be like a chili-cookoff but with tamales, lol.

Thursday & Friday Question~ Do go along with the last question... How do you plan on celebrating when you reach goal?

Haven't thought about that yet.. probably go shopping! :D I'll throw away/donate all my tacky/frumpy clothes (men's sweat pants and baggy shirts, unless they are my band/concert tees) ;)

Well, good news is that I didn't gain any weight like I thought I did this week. I only lost 1.8 pounds, but hey, much better than gaining! I was going to go to Victoria's Secret to get the bra and panty set I wanted as a reward to making it to Onederland, but then I went to Ross, and this SUPER cute Juicy Couture purse was there, and on MAJOR clearance! I literally saw this same exact purse two weeks ago when I was at the Juicy Couture store for $85 on sale there, but I got mine for $30!!!! CRAZY steal! Sorry for those of you aren't huge shopaholics, or not really big into designer fashions, but I HAD to tell you ladies.... my boyfriend really didn't like the choice, he would of much rather had me get the VS stuff, but he just doesn't understand :P

Jelbelle: I have my belly button pierced... didn't hurt a bit! I got it done back when I was 17, and weighed like 110, and just never wanted to let it close up. I love buying rings for it :) I have a friend that has her hips, and she loves it! If I didn't have to wear suit pants everyday for work, I would totally do it!!! You'll have to show pics when you get it done!!!

So I finally reached my first major mini goal of 81 lbs lost (which puts me right under the 300 lb mark!) Yay!!!:carrot: This week has been pretty frustrating because my weight went back up to 302 and had to work back down. Then I got stuck for 3 days at 300 and finally this morning I saw 299. Yesterday I let myself have 3 small pieces of pizza for dinner. It was well within my calories for the day ... actually I was on the low side. It was just nice to eat some regular food for a change. I am so used to only eating lean cuisines and safe foods right now. It was good to see the scale drop even with eating something that wasn't that good for me. I know it is all about calories in and calories out but sometimes I get scared that "bad" foods will make me gain even if I am within my calorie limits.

Well just thought I'd share my little victory with you all :)

toastedsmoke: yep I think they look cool too ^_^ and the YMCA has been awesome! Started a Fusion class and Zumba, don't really care for the Zumba surprisingly enough. I thought I'd like it a lot more, but it's not as fun as I expected. But at least I have a gym to go to now and it's challenging me more than my workouts at home had been.

princessdi86: I wasn't concerned about the belly button piercing as far as the pain part. My tolerance is pretty high, but I was never the proper weight for getting it done. I just don't like showing my belly period lol, looking forward to the day when I do and then I can decorate myself XD I currently have my tongue pierced, but I don't like the look of most other piercings aside from the two I want.

I guess I'm the only one here who wouldn't want an Edward or Jacob. I'm attracted to guys who don't suck. Sorry =) I hate Twilight with an immense passion.

Jelbelle – I’ve never seen any of the Twilight movies or read any of the books either. I also didn’t get on the Harry Potter bandwagon.

Katybelle: Going to the Harry Potter theme park sounds completely awesome! You should definitely ask your parents if they’ll help out. If you think that they might not want to fund your weight loss reward, then you can always present it to them as a reward for something else (perhaps doing well your first year at college, for example).

Stacylambert: Just wanted to reiterate what others have said; everything will be okay! If your calories are within your plan’s range, then you just need to wait this gain out. Weight loss doesn’t always make sense in the short term, but if you stick to your plan, then you’ll lose it soon enough. That being said, I hope that you’ve lost some of the gain and that you’re feeling better now!

KimL1214: Wow! I’m jealous of your upcoming trip to Hawaii. It sounds amazing! Do you know where in Hawaii you might go and what you’ll want to do? In response to your note to me, I like the sound of going and doing something crazy as a reward. I already have lots of travel plans for the next year or so. I’ll have to think about it a bit more, but something like skydiving does sound intriguing. As long as I don’t get super scared and pee my pants or something!

Princessdi86: Thanks for explaining what you do for mini goal rewards! I’ll think about maybe getting some jewelry or something for mini rewards, but clothes are definitely out! It seems more like torture than fun to me, even when I’m feeling good about how I look.

oOPeanutOo: Some countries I've been considering of late: Tunisia (though I’ve lived there before, so the appeal is somewhat less than other countries), Morocco, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, England, Mongolia, Canada, French Guiana, and Argentina. Or maybe, in terms of US states, Oregon, Colorado, or North Carolina. Right now I’m kind of on a French or English speaking kick. I love living here, but it’s sometimes frustrating not to understand people in shops and such. I’m learning, but it’s slow going. Not sure if I should stay another year here or not. Or what I should do in terms of a career! Teaching English is nice, but I don't think I want to do it long-term.

what a bad week ive had!.. sorry ihavent been around, daughter has been very ill with a virel infection. i wasnt getting any sleep because she was been sick in her sleep running back an forth to the bathroom, she also stoped breathing in her sleep at one point so i was so scared to leave her side!.. im just really glad that she is better now and ive had some rest!..not looking forward to the weigh in urgh.. done no exercise an eaten everything in site!!. plus TOM...

I dreaded getting on the scale this morning as I have not been watching calories or exercising since the flu hit Thursday. Surprisingly...I didn't gain anything this week, but I didn't lose anything either. Heading back to bed to get the rest of this bug out of my system so I can get back on the horse tomorrow feeling 100%.

I have to admit...Friday night and yesterday I was a LITTLE careless for the first time since I started 12 weeks ago! No drinks or anything but man I did eat popcorn at the movies (a bit) AND I did get somethign I def shouldn't have gotten to eat...but alas...I only went over my calories by about 400 and I'm not upset about it =)

I weighed myself this morning and it says I lost about 1 pound. Better than gaining, but I know I could've lost more had I stayed on track the entire week =) We'll see what my official weigh in is tomorrow morning!

Good job to all of you who lost and to those that are having a rough time, I feel you! We just gotta keep on keepin on!

Sunday & Monday Question~ Holidays are quickly approaching! Are you someone who is going to sit down for Thanksgiving/Christmas/ I donít know all the holidays coming up... dinner, and stay completely on plan? Or are you someone that is going to plan out your week so you can eat off plan and not feel completely horrible about it? Why?

I am someone that will do a little bit of both. I will plan out my week so that I have all of my WW's bonus points, but I will make sure that I do not go above those points. My sister was a chef for years and she always takes over making the potatoes, gravy, casseroles, etc., so it's a real treat when Thanksgiving and Christmas come around. I'm also planning on spending at least 90-120 minutes in the gym both the day before and the day after to try and help boost some calorie burn (I'm currently working on just keeping myself in the gym for 60 minutes, so I'm hoping by the holidays I can stick it out that long).

For Twilight lovers... I wasn't trying to offend anyone by calling myself a Twilight geek. My family picks on me a lot about it, so they are the ones I mainly hide it from, while my friends and students know that I love the series as well as many other Gothic romance novels. As neat as I think it would be to have someone like Edward, Jacob or Nick (from Need) fall for me, it's the level of devotion and romance that they show throughout different scenes that I want. I'm lonely, and I want someone to love me. And unfortunately, I feel that until I lose the weight... no one will ever love me that much. I know that it's possible, I just don't see it happening.

Hey ladies! Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. I've been thinking a lot about all of you, but I wasn't able to get on the computer as our stupid computer has been having serious issues connecting! I've had a pretty good weekend, although I had some friends stand me up yesterday which was kind of heartbreaking. I don't like a lot of confrontation, but I really thought about really giving it to them last night. I read a new book instead... Calmed me down, another Gothic romance... Pretty good, going to look for the next book in the series on Tuesday. Plus there's also the funeral I had to go to on Saturday. One of the elderly men from church passed away. I've known him my whole life, a fun guy who used to pick on me constantly. He'll be missed. A lot of cool stories were shared about him, so that was neat. My mom just got a call from one of her cousins... who never calls... unless something bad has happened...

But I decided I'd read the series so that I'd be able to back up my opinions when I told people how much I hated it. I'm a big Harry Potter fan, though. Even though it definitely lost it's charm books 6+.

Nienna: Haha, I think it's sad to consider Twilight geared towards teenage girls. But that's all I'm going to say on the subject as to not offend anyone here. Usually I wouldn't have a problem, but I like all of the ladies with us here =D

Krizstyling: You sound just like me! Yesterday I was all over the board, eating bad stuff, no exercise. It was just a rotten day, I want to avoid being that way again because I regret and feel cruddy afterwards. Grats on the loss! I lost too and wow was I relieved. If I gained I'd just be so much more angry at myself!

Kim: Welcome back! I know what you mean about connection problems. Back when we had AT&T I was disconnected more than connected! At least you had a good week despite your friend passing away. I hope that phone call isn't more bad news =( And to answer your question, I would do barbells. Mostly because I like the look of them better, but I also don't know how often rings are used for hip piercings. But even if they were I'd still choose barbells =)

Question of the Day: Well, I think I'm also a little of both, but I lean more towards the off-plan version. I feel like I could make up for a bit of a splurge with exercise, and staying on plan all non-holiday days. Thanksgiving usually gets me full quickly anyways, and after being on a diet so long I'll probably get full faster because now I'm used to eating small portions of food. Christmas Eve is the dinner to look out for. It's a tradition in my family to order Chinese takeout. Yep. That probably sounds really bad, but it was sort of a funny joke and it became a tradition. Like I said, I think I could make up for it. I'm a firm believer that if something only comes around once a year, take advantage of it. It's not like my plan is going down the drain entirely, I'll get right back on the wagon after the holiday season and continue my journey just as I would.

I had a 2.2lbs loss this morning, and while I'm happy that it was at least a loss, I'm a little disappointed I couldn't get 3lbs or higher. I just really want to be in Onederland!

princessdi86: I totally understand being disappointed at 1.8 lbs. I lost 1.5 lbs this week and whilst I'm not unhappy (because at least I DID lose and didn't gain), I see other people losing like 3 lbs or more in a week on average and do feel a little envious or like "why can't that be me," especially since I've been pretty strictly on-plan (even though to be honest I've always been a -1.5-lb a week type, it's just gotten tedious recently). Anyway, we need to be patient and appreciate the small things! Any loss at all means we're definitely on our way!

Jelbelle: Oh dear! I'm thinking of giving Zumba a go. I was hoping to get the Beto dvd set at Christmas even though I've had a few reservations because I don't typically do wonderfully with choreographed workouts... ah well... I'll still give it a go.

Nienna: I totally get you about wanting to live in a francophone country for a bit. I sometimes am so saddened about the depletion of my french-speaking skills and the funny thing is even when I meet people I could speak to in French, I get shy and don't even take the opportunity to practice unless they speak to me in French first. It's funny that we anglophones, we're shy/ashamed to sound non-native in other languages, but we don't really mind when non-native speakers don't sound perfect in English. Anyway I get the need to be in an immersion situation because it forces you to practice and improve and all that great stuff! As far as where I want to go on each continent, I'm not really sure yet. It's tempting to want to revisit places I've been before and liked or places where I have friends or family, but then I feel like "well if I know people there, I can always go there anytime and so maybe I should go to places that I'm unlikely to ever go to otherwise." So far I know I want to go to New Zealand and Madagascar, and maybe Brazil or Argentina, but the rest, I'm not sure yet. Where would you go, if you could have one stop on every continent? Re: the appropriate crush for the adolescent girl, I lust after Carlisle from Twilight, but I'd definitely marry Gilbert Blythe, but only if Mr. Knightley from Emma, was already taken.

Today's Question: I think for Christmas dinner, I'm going to give myself a free pass. The thing I've found recently is that I get full faster and I also think I'm developping a food guilt sensor that let's me know when I'm being piggy. So i won't necessarily be on plan, but I'll definitely try to not go mental and end up in my usual Christmas day post-prandial stupor. That'll mean probably no second helpings and drinking lots of water to aid the feeling full faster feeling.

Jelbelle: I've heard the tongue can be pretty painful! Kudos to doing that! My threshold for pain is not at all high. I have my rook done as well in my left ear, and my traegis in my right. The traegis wasn't too bad, but the rook was AWFUL! I had asked the piercer how bad the pain was going to be before hand, and he said not too bad.... but after he finished, he said that it was tied for the top most painful piercing you can get, along with that little fleshy part under your tongue. Guess I should have used some common sense since it is the hardest part of cartiledge in the body!

Southernbelle: Amazing job!!!! 81 pounds is INCREDIBLE!!! :D :D :D

Hopefully this upcoming week, I will have a better weigh in :) Something completely unrelated, I had a customer come in this week from Sydney,Australia, and thought of you! I have always wanted to visit! He showed me a picture of his pet kangaroo named Skippy....so cute!!! One of my close friends has made it his lifelong goal to move to Australia, and have a kangaroo farm haha!

Nienna: Completely understandable! I actually switched from the VS set to a Juicy Couture purse that I found at an amazing price. It is something I will never have to worry about fitting right haha! Do you have a Forever 21 close to where you live? If you like accessories that aren't expensive that you could use a reward for min goals, they have some of the best, most unique rings, earrings, and necklaces, most of which are way under $10. They make for great mini goal, and weekly weigh in goal reward options.

Kiml1214: Thanks :) It's an overall 3 pound loss since last actual recorded weigh in, but since I weighed myself on the 1st to see if I had reached that mini goal, it was only a 1.8 pound loss... I guess that isn't too bad, but after a week where I lost 5 pounds, I was a little disappointed. I'm aiming for 5 again this week, and some I'm going to kick my butt into gear!!!

Toastedsmoke: 1.5 is still a great loss as well! You have lost an insane amount of weight to date, you are doing such an amazing job! I know what you mean though, I wanted to see a much bigger loss this week than what I actually saw. We can do it this week though!!!

Today's Question: I have actually already made plans with my mother, and with my future motherinlaw about Thanksgiving. They too are trying to lose weight, so we have come up with a few different alternatives to make Thanksgiving a little more healthy. I LOVE pumpkin pie, but I will only actually eat the filling, which really isn't all that horrible for you, and no crust. I will still eat the things that I want, but in very small portions. My favorite dish is always stuffing, which has a lot of carbs, but I will make myself eat it in moderation. I do plan on having a back up plan in order, just in case though! Like, running an extra 5 miles that week, and cutting my calories down all the days around Thanksgiving. I'm not going to deprive myself, but I'm not going to binge either.

So I decided that I wanted a little bit of a change yesterday, and dyed my hair from the light brown with light blonde, and red heighlights, and to a dark golden chocolate brown. I have to touch it up a little because not all the blonde took the color, so I still have a couple of dark blonde streaks here and there, but I really think I like it! Note to all you girls who have blue eyes, darker hair really makes them pop and shine!!!

princessdi86: I've always wanted to get an industrial, but I was afraid that it would hurt. I'm just sensitive on my ears and scared because I had bad experiences with my ear piercings as a child. The tongue however is virtually painless. I don't think that's just me, it's ranked like number 2 on the list of painful places to pierce (right above ear lobes), with 10 being most painful. The hardest part of a tongue piercing in about 5 seconds worth of lightheadedness and the swelling afterwards. But getting it done you really won't feel anything =) My friend has the part under her tongue pierced and I remember the first time I saw it and I just thought it was the dumbest thing XD I still do. I think it's the most ridiculous piercing ever! Sorry if anyone here actually has that XD ha.

Jebelle! Great GREAT loss! But I def feel you on the crummy feeling after we have a slip up! At least we lost right? I would have been EXTREMELY angry had I gained! But my goal was 3lbs lost this week as well =( Eh, here's to next week for both of us! Let's try and push each other to those three pounds!

princessdi86 Ė I totally spat out my drink laughing. Sorry! We donít actually keep Kangaroos as pets in Australia. The guy was probably having you on. Itís a bit of a long running joke in that we say we have Kangaroos, Koalas & Wallabyís roaming around in our backyards. I have a friend who has a photo of himself with a Kangaroo from the Zoo and when heís overseas for work shows it to people and tells them heís had the Kangaroo since it was a Joey. No one has ever questioned him on it.

Sunday/Mondayís Question Ė Iím lucky in that I only have Christmas & New Years Eve to worry about. I wonít be completely on plan for Christmas but wonít be overdoing things either. Iíve already decided not to count calories for the day but Iíll watch portion sizes. Itís one day so Iím not going to be hard on myself.

Ladies, I think that 3 lb goal for this weigh in is an awesome idea... Im in! I don't know if I can do it because I have been slowing a bit lately. I knew it was coming ... after 81 lbs lost in 4 months it was bound to happen. I did have a low week this week though so I am expecting a 3 lb or more loss next week. We will see :)

thank you all :) it was so scary not been able to help her. feeling like i had no control on what was happening!. she should be back to school tomorrow after a little check up at the doctors. yes that is my baby girl in my photo :) was taken back in the summer. i never ever want to see her that ill ever again, thought i was going to lose her at one point.
on a good note im going to head to zumba tonight! im soooo looking forward to it AAAAANNND my partner said he wants to do some exercsie with me and get fit!..so im really excited about that. thank you all again for your kind words theey mean a lot to me,

princessdi86~ I have blue eyes! I was dying my hair different shades of auburn for a while as I have red highlights naturally, but I decided to let a professional take care of some of my disasters... When I got swine last year and was stuck at my house for 3 weeks, I had my roommate grab a highlighting kit which ended up bleaching my hair... so, being me... I took a bunch of chunks and died them purple and blue. I got in trouble with the administration when I came back to school, so I had to try and dye it back... and it didn't really work. Lots of pink and green. That's really cool that you've already made plans with your mother and future mother in law!

Jelbelle~ Congrats on your loss! Unfortunately we did get some bad news yesterday. As for piercings... I have eleven holes in my ears, seven in my right ear, plus a tragus piercing, and three in my left. I have a weird thing about symmetry... I don't really like it on bodies when it comes to piercings... not sure why, just don't. Someday I'd like to get my belly button, but preferably when my belly no longer hangs over my pants...

So unfortunately the phone call yesterday was to inform us the my 90 year old Great Aunt passed away this weekend. They're not having a funeral for her, but rather having a memorial service in February. My mom's side of the family is EVERYWHERE in the US, so it's really hard to get people together, although I still think they should have a funeral for her. There's been a lot of loss on that side of the family over the past few years, so I think that might be part of the reason.
I'm going to get the new challenge up and start working on the stats for this week!

So, last night we went to a friends house to do a little bit of partying. I was the only person not to have a drop of alcohol.... yay!

Posted below are pictures of me at my largest, around 225, if not more, and then the second is one of me taken last night at 198. I can't believe how much of a difference 26 pounds can make! I can't wait to see what 135 looks like!!!

KimL1214 Ė Yes, we stick to the same foods every year but we tend to go all out so that there is something for everyone. Turkey, Chicken, Ham & Seafood are always on offer plus lots of vegetables to accompany it all. I donít envisage a problem with that part of the meal but I canít say no to Christmas Pudding. Sorry to hear about your Great Aunt! February is a long time to wait so I can understand why youíd want there to be a funeral for her.

princessdi86 Ė Great photos! You can already see such am amazing transformation. Weíll all be waiting for those Goal Photos when you hit 135!

Tuesday & Wednesday Question: Iíll be going into Christmas with a couple of strategies but the main one will be ďJust because it is there doesnít mean I have to eat itĒ. I donít need to eat everything that is on offer at Christmas. In the past Iíve eaten like itís the last time Iíll ever get to taste those kinds of foods.
I guess another strategy would be to limit the liquid calories (i.e. Alcohol). I know when Christmas time comes around a few in my family start drinking early and can keep it up all day. That often leads to eating more than you had otherwise planned.

One big one I use is making sure there is space in-between each one of my foods. That helps limit serving size, I tell my nephew I want to see the pretty designs on my plate while I eat (he says I should just eat faster and then I can see the plate...). One other thing we did last year was get real dinner plates instead of the huge plates that most have in their homes now. My mom had some of my grandmother's china, which is the original dinner plate size, so we used that instead of our ginormous plates we usually use.

Work tonight! I need to figure out what I'm going to eat at work...

I honestly didn't notice the difference at all until I compared the two pictures. I am fitting in smaller sizes, but I still look the same to myself when

Today's Question: Back when I used to be in great shape, I would either eat a protein bar like a hour or so before the actual meal itself, so I wouldn't stuff myself silly. Sometimes, I would take an appetite suppressant earlier in the day, and that would also help me eat in moderation. Don't deprive yourself, let that specific Holiday be your ultimate cheat day for the month, but don't overeat. Have small portions of everything, and made sure you get some sort of exercise too.

Jelbelle Ė I think weíre all our toughest critics when it comes to looking at our weight loss. Youíve lost 26lbs which is amazing so Iím sure there is a difference. Iím sure you feel a lot better within yourself in any case for losing that weight.

Jelbelle: I totally get what you mean about not seeing the difference. I've lost 58lbs and many times (in a totally non-body dysmorphic way) I still don't see that huge of a difference. I mean ok there is a difference (in things like actually needing a belt to keep my trousers up etc) but it's not like an "OMG she's lost almost 60lbs" difference. Ah well... Eventually I'm sure! And in any case, better the weight off than on, vanity irrespective!

oOPeanutOo: You really made some helpful suggestions in your response to today's question. I think that plan sounds really sensible!

I haven't posted here as "everydaily" as before because I've been in kind of a mental rut. I'm on plan 100% with food and exercise (totally on track with 30DSlimdown- 20 days to go after tonight- and running at the gym (now at about 9+ miles/15km a week) but mentally, I'm just going through the motions. I think before I had a pretty laid back attitude to losses, but then after last month's unprecedented 10-lb loss, I got a little greedy for speed and started thinking "wow wonderland is totally doable by the end of the year" and now that I've gone back to my regular snail-pace losing rate, I'm beginning to feel like ok it's not possible and so I'm so disappointed and down about it and like totally envious of people who lose 4-5 lbs a week (I'd even be happy with 2-3 a week) and just in a negative "I'll-never-get-there" mindset which I know is always the start of horrible things plan-wise. I know I need to get my head back in the right place and go back to the more chill, more healthy (for me, anyway) attitude I had before but now that i had onederland stars in my eyes, it's really hard to go back and just resign myself to getting there when I get there. :(

today's question: I don't really have any strategy's in mind specifically for Christmas day. I guess maybe trying to eat and drink low-cal in the days leading up to and after Christmas (in spite of holiday socials) and maybe just trying to be conscious of what's going into my mouth. Like for example, I don't specifically journal my food, but Christmas day might be a good day to record everything I eat (on my phone or itouch) before I put it on my plate ad eat it. Just looking at the least should help me edit and prioritize. I'm really looking forward to reading your responses to this question.

Jelbelle: I'm sorry you aren't liking your zumba class so much. It could be just the way that class is done. Each instuctor is taught all the Zumba songs/routines, but then they also get freedom to add in songs/routines of their own. So each instructor may add their own particular preferences into the class. Is it the music or the routines that you didn't like that much? Different instructors go at different paces too. If you consider trying someone else's zumba class, you could Google Maps "zumba+your zipcode" and see which have the best reviews. I tried zumba at 3 different places and my favorite instructor is the furthest away :P

No worries on everyone's HP/Twilight/novel opinions. Everyone's got their own opinion, as long as no one's shoving theirs' down everyone's throats, lol!

Peanut & Kim: Tamale Fest (Dallas, TX)... we didn't enjoy much. They weren't giving samples, there were only about 3 tamale vendors and their lines were so long and coming from multiple directions, that I gave up on waiting. They had those inflatable bounce houses/slides, so kiddo got to play for at least an hour. We left early and went to a big Half Price Used Book Store (mom's and my fav!) instead. My father-in-law wanted me to bring some tamales back, so guess he'll have to wait til Thanksgiving/Christmas when mom makes some :P

Sunday & Monday Question~ Holidays are quickly approaching! Are you someone who is going to sit down for Thanksgiving/Christmas/ I donít know all the holidays coming up... dinner, and stay completely on plan? Or are you someone that is going to plan out your week so you can eat off plan and not feel completely horrible about it? Why?

I can't turn down my family's cooking! LOL.. tastes delicious and just as bad for your "diet"... Will try to pay attention to portion control and drink water. I'll let myself eat the 'real food' (turkey/potatos/gravy), but will try to stay away from everyone's desserts. Kim had a good idea about working out harder the days before and after.. at least I'll definitely try for my usual 35-45 min the days before and after.

toastedsmoke: Yay for Team Carlisle, lol.. I like Jasper.. both are cute in the movies, hehe. I like your food guilt sensor.. I'll try to listen to mine these holidays and stop eating when I'm not hungry. I'm sorry you're in a mental rut.. you're not alone in 'just going through the motions' workout-wise. But the important part is that we keep on doing it. Trying changing up your workout if you think it might help. Use different machines/dvds or walk a different path. 1-2 lb loss a week is still okay.. its better than staying the same and much better than a gain. Even those mass-lb losers hit a plateau sometimes; then they have to find a modification or just keep pushing through on plan. I hope you don't get too discouraged with the rate of loss (thinking its too slow). It sounds normal to me.. you could always try to do whatever you did to lose that 10 lbs.

Princessdi: Your new hair color sounds so pretty!! Post a pic if you can :D Your progress pics are amazing...

I envy y'all who can dye your hair bright colors.. my current job won't let me.. bummer... I have naturally dark brown hair and its a job to lighten it up enough to take bright colors (have done dark blue, fushia/dark pink, purple, and different reds in the past, usually via bleach then manic panic). Miss those days!

Sorry I didn't weigh in this past week everybody. I'm having issues logging into 3FC at times, no idea why, plus now I don't have a truly accurate way to weigh. My scale's been acting funny and my TV decided to die this past week, so now I can't use my Wii Fit either :/ I'll just have to go by my wonky scale for now, plan to get a new one next week or so.

I've been sick and while I am still exercising and watching what I eat, I've been taking it easy this week so I don't know if I'll have a great number to report then either, but I'll weigh in anyway and hopefully bring better numbers for the rest of the challenge.

As for 30Day Slim, my TV decided to quit and my dad's medical problems keep me from being able to use the downstairs TV in the AM (wakes him up, ugh). So right now I'm waiting for them to fix my TV, which supposedly is happening today...

Jelbelle~ I love measuring inches as it helps me feel better when I don't see the pounds coming off when I've been working hard, because the inches do!

Thursday Question~ What tips or tricks do you have to stay motivated when your willpower falters?

This is a hard one for me as I have a really hard time getting back on plan when I slip up. One big thing I do is get on here and read through all the mini goals and main goals reached, just to remind myself that it is possible. I also journal a lot. Sometimes I'll read back through my journal to see if there was anything that set me up to fall of plan or if my mood had changed at all in my writing, usually implying that my depression has rose up again. I also will FORCE myself to go to the gym. Once I get there and push through the first 10 minutes of cardio, I feel much better about myself and tend to push myself hard through the entire workout.

Mexican food tonight... Going to look up the menu now so I can start planning for it!

Hey everyone! Yuck, Wednesday was not a good day for me. I've decided not to go to my family's Thanksgiving dinner this year, so it looks like I won't have to worry about chowing down after all. :(

In addition to all that, I had a meeting with an advisor yesterday at my college. I'd been referred there by my fav prof because she wanted me in the Honors program for English. Well, when I went to the meeting, the advisor spent an hour tearing apart my winter schedule and replacing it with classes she thought I should take. I was so upset about all of it! She made my days longer so I'd have to go from 9:35am to 8pm instead of 5pm, and she swapped out three of the classes I was really excited for and exchanged them with two classes that I absolutely did not want to take next semester. It was the worst! I wanted to be polite, so I didn't say anything bad, but I certainly will NOT be listening to ANY of her advice. And what's more, she didn't even tell me one single thing about the Honors program! So now I'm a little worse for wear and feeling a bit blah.

Question of the Day: I imagine how pretty I will be when I am thin!

WARNING: Major Pity Party Ahead:
I'm kind of still in my funk but being very strict with my workouts. I'm at about 720mins (12hrs) so far for the month but I'm seeing signs of cracking diet-wise which I need to curb- i've been eating pretty low-cal (1000-1300) on plan but today was kind of off plan- I'm right about in the mid-1800s from snacking not because I was hungry or even particularly craving snacks but just because I felt kind of ambivalent about being on plan. I know it's not exactly tragic (the 1800+ calories for today) but going off plan is not a good sign, and is actually a horrible symptom of where my head isn't. My mid-week (unofficial) weigh-in yesterday put me at 219 (for Bo discernable reason, I'd been 100% on plan) so added to my already existing funk, plus the fact that my hair is majorly effed up (dry and shedding (possibly from low calories or diet plan, I dunno; it started coincidentally when I jacked down my calories, that's why I linked the two)), I think I'm getting an ingrown toenail, and I made a major eyebrow error yesterday, I'm pretty just over everything right now. And I feel bad because all this is nothing major and it feels really shallow and self-indulgent to whine about these things but since I can't be whiny in real life, I'll put it here, where hopefully you have no expectations of me and can't judge me too much! I need to get it together though, I know this and I will!

thursdays question: This is a particularly meaningful question for me right now especially as I'm kind of teetering on the edge. What I'm doing is staying tightly in control of exercise and having my food strictly planned out a week in advance. So for main meals, there's not much room to be off-plan (snacking is possible though, but don't have anything truely awful around). The main thing however is being rigid with exercise. I still don't love to work out (I borderline dislike it, but I don't love to floss either and yet I do it twice a day so...) and in past attempts I've been better with diet than with exercise but one thing I've learned is that being strict with exercise makes me more disciplined with food. The way I think of it is that I have a new appreciation for what it takes to burn a calorie. If I really felt like I was going to die as I ran that last km or did that last Jillian-circuit, I can't in good conscience bring myself to fall apart completely with what goes in my mouth. Sometimes you do what feels like a killer workout and then you discover you've burned 300 calories or something, definitely makes ME more conscious of what I'm eating.

toastedsmoke Ė Sorry to hear that youíre having a little bit of a tough time at the moment. We all get a little bit disappointed when we see others losing weight at a faster rate than we are but you need to keep reminding yourself that youíve already come so far. Losing 58lbs isnít anything to be disappointed with. Donít think of what you wrote as a Pity Party at all. Thereís never any judgement on this board. Sometimes when all the little things pile up on you at once it can be overwhelming. Just take a step back & Breathe! Youíll be okay and back to your regular self in no time.

ferretgirl Ė The Tamale fest sounds like it was a bit of a letdown. Iíve never tried a Tamale before. Do you make them often or wait until special occasions when your Mum does?

KimL1214 Ė I think itís a great idea that you keep a journal and have the opportunity to read over it to see the changes your going through. What do you normally go for when Mexican food is on the agenda? I always seem to struggle staying within my calories.

Jelbelle Ė Sorry that you had such a bad Wednesday. Is everything okay with your family? Weíre all here to help if you need to vent. By the sounds of things, your advisor would be making your life **** if you followed all her recommendations.

Thursdayís Question Ė I actually thought about this question for a while as my motivation waxes and wanes more often than Iíd like. When I hit a rough patch I just remind myself that Iím working towards leading a life less ordinary. I crave adventure and new experiences. When I think about all the things that Iím striving for, it just reaffirms why Iím doing this.

toastedsmoke: I don't think you're being whiny! It's just when things-- even small ones-- start to pile on, it can really be the straw to break the camel's back, and we DON'T want that. Just try to refocus yourself, like with Kim's question; remember all the reasons you're doing this, and how all of us here are rooting for you and wanting you to continue on track! And yeah, the advisor was a pain in my behind. I suppose I'm still a freshman, but I don't know how credits translates. Technically speaking, this is my second year.

oOPeanutOo: I think that's exactly what she was trying to do! Ha XD Well, for Thanksgiving my grandparents asked if I would prefer to invite the extended family or just have the four of us, and I said I wanted it to just be the four of us, because I really don't like the extended family. It's really awkward and just unbearable to be around them; they don't have senses of humor! Ugh! And last year they had to set up two tables, because the dining table wasn't big enough, and I got seated with a bunch of people I didn't know, and they didn't speak one word to me, and I was completely separated from my main family. I don't want that to happen again, I would rather just spend it alone than all of them. =( sorry for the rant!

Aaaagh! Jelbelle, you've convinced me that the time has really come to post again. I don't know how the week gets away from me like it does.

I've been kind of struggling this week (against or with what I really couldn't say, but not really with my weight loss), and I'm feeling kind of down. Maybe it's because the sun sets at 4 pm. Maybe it's because I overanalyze myself and every relationship in my life. Or maybe it's because I allow myself to agonize over future decisions that are still months away. I guess I could summarize my thoughts about this week in a series of wishes: I wish that I was more outgoing. I wish that I could just relax and enjoy the moment more easily. Is it possible to learn to do that or are people just born knowing how? Also, I wish I wasn't the kind of person who wants so badly to be in a relationship. I feel ashamed of the fact that I want to get married, especially because I'm not even currently dating anyone. I just feel like wanting something you don't have is kind of pathetic, even though that is clearly not true!

Anyways, I mostly just wish that I was more comfortable with myself, and I am trying to work on that.

Toastedsmoke: I'm really interested in that round the world trip, and I love the idea of going to Madagascar. I think if I had to choose just one place on each continent (taking into account where I've already been and where I know I'll be going within the next year and assuming that money's no object), I'd probably do the following: Madagascar, Poland (I really want to go to the Białowieża National Park), Bhutan, Indonesia, Brazil, and Prince Edward Island (did I mention that I'm strangely obsessed with Anne of Green Gables?). On that note, Gilbert Blythe is definitely my ultimate fantasy in terms of literary love interests, but I'd fight you for Mr. Knightley if Gilbert turned out to be unavailable. I also kind of have the hots for Roger Hamley from Wives and Daughters, but he's not quite so desirable as the others. I like the constancy of the former two!

princessdi86: I don't have a Forever21 around here, but I'll keep it in mind for when I head back to the States. Thanks for the suggestions! And your purse sounds awesome. I also like the sound of your hair dye; I used to dye mine dark in high school, and I loved the way that it looked.

oOPeanutOo: Thanks for the Melbourne/Sydney suggestions! What kinds of adventures and new experiences were you alluding to in your last post? They sound mysterious and exciting!

KimL1214: I'm sorry about your Great Aunt. My thoughts are with you and your family. I agree with you about the importance of having a funeral. All of my grandparents passed away within a year of each other last year, and I didn't go to the funeral of one of my grandfathers because I was sick of dealing with death. I really regret it now. Even though it's sad and hard, I think grieving with the rest of the family is important and can even bring something good (a stronger family bond) out of the pain.

Jelbelle: I don't know where you go to college, but I found that at my last school (a large state university), advisors were often best ignored. In all seriousness, I often went into advisory meetings better informed about core curriculum requirements and course prerequisites than the advisors themselves. I think you're right to ignore her. Of course, that doesn't make having to sit through the b.s. any easier. I hope that the rest of your week was a bit less frustrating!

As for Thursday's question, there are two things that keep me going when my motivation flags: I want to be the outdoors fitness queen that I see in my dreams, and I want to look hot. I hope the latter doesn't make me sound too shallow; I'm just trying to be honest! But seriously, I'd love to hike the Appalachian Trail and be all one with the woods, and being out of shape interferes with such plans.

Hey Team Phoenix! Today is actually a much better day than yesterday or than I've seen this week. I don't know whether it's a natural Friday high or if I've just kind of gotten over myself and just realized that the goal by New Year is to be lighter than I am now or at the very least, not heavier than I am now. Onederland will come in it's time, and I just need to take each lb as it comes, and chill out. It's not a competition. <Exhales>! Anyway, I'm kind of happier now that I've taken the pressure off New Years', I don't feel as much like I'm failing or like I have to do comparisons, everyone's journey is individual and unique to them. Now if I could just bottle this thought and these feelings and have a daily sip of them before every meal! <sighs> Thank you guys soooooo much for your support and kindness and understanding and advice, it's sooooo appreciated and I'm really glad I have my team Phoenix!

Jelbelle: I get what you mean about being between a freshman and a sophomore. I'm sure by now you're over the whole thing and are going to just register for what you wanted originally. About thanksgiving, sorry about the situation, I totally get it. Personally, I prefer to do holiday dinners with just my immediate family (parents and brother), but sometimes extended family gets involved and to be honest, I don't mind my dad's family (in small doses). But I get where you're coming from- sitting at a table where no one talks to you like you're Jilly-No Mates and then having to pretend to smile and look engaged so that no one draws attention to the fact that you seem to have no conversation or social skills. Yes I've definitely been there with my mom's side of the family and I'd rather avoid another experience like that,so I definitely understand. <shudders>

Nienna: This will be rather long because there is nothing you said above that I can't 110% identify with and that I don't feel as well. First about having a major decision coming up, I totally get it, and I suspect that our decisions might be similar (i.e. what next?! -maybe i'm wrong). I've always been someone who plans and overanalyzes and has back up plans up to Plan G in case plans A-F fail and now I'm coming to a crossroads in life where it's like I have to make a major decision soon and it freaks me out. Very stressful!! Then Second, about wishing you were more outgoing and in a relationshop and wanting to get married. ME TOO!!!! I feel like deep down I'm an outgoing and friendly person but it doesn't come through and so maybe I don't attract people, and so that makes me even more shy to go out and seem like I have no friends in public situations, which makes me antisocial, which means I never meet anyone, which means I'm going to end up single and alone...ARHHHH! My parents met when my mom was 17 and my dad 19 (and got married at 26 and 28 respectively) and so I feel the pressure to at least meet someone potential; especially since I don't see myself as a whirlwhind romance+marriage type. And of course, I have to pretend like I don't care that I'm single or that my mind isn't on marriage right now, but it totally is. And yes, I'm a strong, educated, independent young woman but I want a good man, darnit, and kids too at some point! It really sucks and I feel pathetic too (although when I was reading what you wrote, I didn't think you were pathetic at all, but feeling that way too, I can see why you would feel that) believe me I understand. THIRDLY Ooooh, Roger Hamley from Wives and Daughters is a good one. Ok you can have Gilbert and Mr. Knightley if you let me have Roger Hamley. I ADORE him in spite of his temporarily bad judgement. He is perfect! You know who else I wouldn't throw out of bed but would never marry, Mr. Thornton from North and South, he has kind of a dark, cold, misunderstood Mr. Darcy vibe going, and it's strange because I usually don't go for the bad boy (re: Roger Hamley). I'm actually wavering between Roger and Mr. Knightley, if I had Mr. Knightley, I wouldn't be stressed about what decision to make about my future, he'd know exactly the right thing for me to do and wouldn't hesitate to tell me, and he IS always right... hmmm. something to think about lol! FOURTHLY, about the round the world trip, those are some really interesting places. About your Anne obsession, I can sympathise. I actually still thought she was real after I was wayyyy to old to do so (can you say 15) mostly because I loved her sooo much and kept hoping I could go visit her (or at least Rilla (of Ingleside)) before she died! Ridiculous, I know!

Nienna: I certainly will ignore her. She "advised" me to take technical writing, which is not in the field I'm going into, and it just made me so angry that it is her job to guide people and she doesn't even know what she's talking about! And also, I don't think the desire to be hot makes you shallow. =) I find it's more of an acceptance within ourselves. We want to like what we see, is that so bad? Nope!

toastedsmoke: Yes! It is the worst situation, they try to make it awkward, I'm certain they do =( I think, why should I let that drag my holiday down? My mom said we could have a Thanksgiving after Thanksgiving, just the two of us. So I figure I'll just pass on the family dinner and just celebrate a separate day. I know if I go I'll just end up angry or irrirated and I don't need to put myself through that.

P.S.: I'm a BIG Mr. Darcy fan, so if I can pick someone, can I have him? :D

Jelbelle Ė I know family dynamics can be difficult at times. I donít talk to a lot of my extended family so Iíd probably rather chew my own arm off than have to spend time with them. I think it was a bit inconsiderate to make you sit with people you didnít know in any case.

Nienna Ė Sorry to hear that youíre having a bit of a tough week. I wish I could offer you some helpful advice but I feel a lot of the same things.
When it comes to the new experiences, I want to be more adventurous and try things that Iíve never had the guts to do before. Some things I want to try are: rock climbing, skydiving, white water rafting, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge & snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. I lack the confidence to participate in these activities at my current weight.

toastedsmoke Ė Itís good to hear that youíre having a better day! Taking the pressure off yourself will make things easier in the long run. Iím going to use some of your advice for myself and just ďtake each pound as it comesĒ.
