nurse2be~ How are you feeling? Happy Belated Bday!!! :bday2you: Sorry you didn't feel well for it

LeslieLou~ Congrats on 5lbs.!!!

sha25~ How are you feeling today?

shan84 & julie99s~ Don't apologize! It's all part of losing weight...

Tambolina & Aclai~ CONGRATS!!!

So far so good today. Not the biggest loss this past week, but I just found a TON of new recipes I want to try this week and CAN try because my parents will be gone all week. Unfortunately my parents only like meat, potatoes, vegetable... same thing almost every night... so I rarely get a chance to try something new. Now that I'm trying to exclude all meat and limiting my carbs, I'm having a really hard time planning meals with them. I love meat. LOVE meat. But unfortunately I love meat too much, and even with watching what I eat, I've still been eating too much meat. SO, I'm trying to go without until Oct. 29 and then will slowly reintroduce. Carbs, the kind of carbs I like are BAD, so I'm trying to eat ONLY good carbs. I haven't set a time limit on that one yet, but I'm thinking that I may push to Thanksgiving with that one.
I'm rambling :o
Happy Monday!!!

Hello red team, hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks for asking KimL1214, I am still not feeling so good.

On the mend I hope to feel better in a few days.. Doctor said I have a sinus infection and double ear infection.. She ran some blood work to test a few different things, Thyroid, white blood cell count, and I have had a rash for awhile so she checking the blood work for a few different causes.. I think it is eczema. The new cream she prescribed seems to be helping..

I posted a gain this week. I know my exercise hasn't been on track with the back injury and now being sick. I feel so stuck and its starting to be discouraging. I think it was June sometime that I saw 188 and now four months later I am still in the 180's. The lower end of it but still... 4 months and about nine pounds later really isn't what I was hoping for..Oh well, I am going to suck it up and keep trying..

10-18-2010, 10:29 PM
sha25- Hope you feel better soon. Nine pounds is great even if it takes four months! Just keep at it.

Hopefully things are finally settled here. I was able to get to the Y after work today so I think maybe I have found my new routine. I don't know how the weight loss will go but hopefully it will start again soon.

10-18-2010, 11:04 PM
Kim-yay for new recipes. Any chance you can try doubling one & freeze the extras so you have something healthy choices when your parents get home?

Sha- don't get too discouraged. I was stuck at 160 for 4 months. But then I started looking at it like maintenance- my body just getting used to this new weight. Let it adjust the hormones & metabolism accordingly and when it's ready -it will start losing again. For this challenge, my focus has been on portion size.

Terapet-good for you on figuring out a new routine and for getting to the gym, something I need to do - I miss my step/pump aerobics.

Shan- bummer on the weight gain. But you've lost it before & it CAN be done again!

Leslie-5lbs! Excellent job!

Have a great evening ladies

10-19-2010, 02:17 AM
I'm so sorry for not being accountable. I spent Sunday morning cooking for church, and then the whole day at church. Once I got home I completely crashed. My weight has been fluctuating a lot here lately. I never realized how much I bloat.

10-19-2010, 11:53 AM
Serval87~ You're here, you're posting, that's important, no worries! How did the church function go?

CanadaMel~ There is a recipe for Caramelized Onion and Mushroom Lasagna that actually includes instructions for how to freeze if you double, so I'm going to try that Thursday night as I have Thursday off and it's a long prep recipe. How are you doing?

TERAPET~ Great job getting to the Y yesterday!

sha25~ 9lbs. down is still 9lbs. closer to where you want to be! I hope you feel better soon

So I'm trying Grilled Margherita Portobello Mushrooms and roasted veggies for dinner tonight. I'm SUPER excited!!! It'll be a later dinner because I'm going for a hike with one of my co-workers (I WILL remember batteries this time!!!) and have to go to another town to get the mushrooms. I saw a small drop in numbers this morning, which is good since we still have a few days before weigh in, I'm hoping to see more before the end of the week! The sooner I see some new numbers, the better I will feel about changing my eating habits so much...
Happy Tuesday!

10-19-2010, 12:38 PM
Thanks All!! I have been working hard and met my goal to be in the 150's by the weekend (which was also my b-day) so I tried really hard to be good. Had a bad weekend though... drank a little, didn't pay too much attention when I ate out although I did get salad and stayed away from the bread. I am still 159.8 this morning so didn't do too much damage. Next mini goal is to be in the 140's by the end of the month. I should be able to sign the 20lbs loss wall by next week.

Fall is such a hard time for me because I lOVE comfort food (mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, etc) so I am going to power through, step up my workouts, and remember that we are going on vacation this winter and I want to be the HOTTY in a swimsuit.

For those that posted gains, stick with is about ups and downs. Challenge the ups with some hard work, mental focus and celebrate the downs by sticking with your program.

10-19-2010, 08:46 PM
Congrats to our losers!

Sorry I missed WI this week, new classes just started. No loss this week anyway, no gain either.

10-19-2010, 08:55 PM
Thanks All!! I have been working hard and met my goal to be in the 150's by the weekend (which was also my b-day) so I tried really hard to be good.

Congrats on reaching your goal!!!

10-20-2010, 11:14 PM
tambolina~ :congrat: Awesome job!!!

JasonsLea, alwe74~

TOM is kicking my butt right now. I was surprised this morning to see the scale is still going down though, even with TOM starting. We'll see how it is tomorrow morning once it's really full bore though... Anyone have some foods other then meat that are high in iron? I got a mini lecture from my doctor today when I told him I wasn't eating meat for a few weeks as I have been borderline anemic for years. I've never been bad enough to have to take meds, but he told me that I need to make sure to replace the iron I would be getting from meat with something else, otherwise I may end up slipping below that line and having to take meds. UGH. Fun.

10-20-2010, 11:31 PM
Hope everyone is having a good week. I'm still feeling sick.. Not sure if these meds are working. This has been a rough week for me in all areas. Just found out that one of the labs my Dr ran came back positive and I need to see a specialist for further testing. I'm hoping its nothing serious, I just can't handle more stress at this point.

Kim- I'm not sure how to post a link or if it is allowed but I found this website that lists high iron foods and there is a bunch listed

Congrats tambolina and aclai!

10-20-2010, 11:52 PM
Hope all those who are under the weather start to feel better soon.

Had a non-friendly dinner tonight-pork roast, mashed potatoes, string beans& crescent rolls. Didn't over do it- or so I thought, but I'm stuffed & feeling blah.

Tomorrow is a new day & we're half way through week 5, let's go Red Team!

10-21-2010, 01:05 AM
I had some vegetarian chili for lunch today. Yummy yummy!

Sorry I haven't done any personals this week. I've been super busy between work, korean class, and life in general. I'm staying super busy.

Doing alright food wise. I'm starting a diet delivery food service in the next week or so. The bf and I decided we would give it a try and see how we do. They deliver daily your breakfast, lunch, and dinner at a set amount of calories for the day (including fresh fruits and veggies). I'll let you know when we start so hopefully I can see some more progress with my weight loss.

Hope everyone is having a good week! For those who are feeling a little under the weather, hope you feel better soon!

10-21-2010, 11:28 PM
A quiet bunch this week.
Work & kids are keeping me on my toes, but my eating is suffering. Just poor choices on my part. I'll blame the full moon. Lol.

Tomorrow's Friday! Enjoy it ladies!

10-21-2010, 11:37 PM
shan84-Good luck with your new plan. Nice to shake things up with a little change now and then.

CanadaMel-You are so close to a new decade. Cool!

sha25-I hope your tests come out okay. That is stressful.

I am still hanging in there. I haven't managed to lose any weight with all the changes in my life but I am still working on it.

10-22-2010, 02:01 AM
Sha25-I hope everything is OK...sorry you're not feeling well.

My migraine came back yesterday and today. I had a massage on Monday that seemed to help and I'm having another one tomorrow. I wish they'd go away!!!

10-22-2010, 03:57 AM
alwe- Ooooo massages! Woohoo! Hope it helps your migraine stay away.

The week is finished here in SK. Woohoo for Friday night! Time to go to my Korean class and then have dinner with the bf. Hope everyone is doing well. Anyone have any big plans for this weekend?

10-22-2010, 12:18 PM
The baby hasn't been sleeping at night, so instead of jumping online for any extended period, I take a nap with him after the gym. I am beat. I haven't fallen off, I'm still truckin'. I'm hoping my foot is healed next week so I can do classes again. About all I can do is the eliptical and it's getting borrrring.

Weekend plans, none really. The Y is doing "Halloween at the Y" tonight, and the kids get to get dressed up for that. Saturday YDD has a soccer game. After that it'll be football, racing, baseball, and hockey watching. And maybe a nap or 3 ;)

Which reminds me... Another rough night, I'm exhausted. Night all!

10-22-2010, 09:35 PM
Hi all,

Sorry to have been MIA for the last week or so. I've been in travelling/training for work and food has been provided. No excuses, I've made bad choices, practically given up exercising completely, and I've gained 9lbs! Hopefully getting back on track will take effect quickly and I'm counting on a lot of this being water/sodium.

Hope things are well with all of you. I apologize in advance for the disaster my weigh in is likely to be this week.

10-23-2010, 08:48 AM
Good Morning Ladies,

I am planning a nice quiet weekend at home. After the last few weeks, I am more than ready for it. I am getting ready to hit the Y here in a little bit and then just hang at home watching football or reading a book. My husband already took care of most of the cleaning chores already so I don't have to do anything. (I think he was making up for not doing any cleaning for the last six months when I was unemployed. Too funny.)

The scale was down the last couple of days but I don't think I earned it. Crazy thing. I am hoping to eat better this week. I have been slipping back into some old habits lately and I don't want to go back there again. So I am going to try to spend more time here and keep those bad habits in check. (Mostly baked goods and wine if you are curious.)

Angie-Sorry to hear about the weight gain. Good for you for sticking with us. It sounds like you have figured out the culprit so hopefully that will lead to figuring out how to get around it.

julie99-You are one busy mom! It sounds like a fun but exhausting weekend. I hope your baby gets closer to a better sleeping routine soon for you. I loved those days when my kids were young-especially the preschool days but I remember it is both physically and mentally demanding.

10-23-2010, 09:54 AM
KimL1214: Well, it went better than I thought. But my dish didn't even get halfway eaten (though my mom and aunt liked it). I guess that's what I get for bringing a vegan dish to a group of people who are used to southern food. lol. I made stir fry with red quinoa, tofu sausage, fresh garlic, a bag of frozen bell peppers and onions, and fresh roma tomatoes. I sauteed the veggies and sausage in a couple teaspoons of olive oil. It isn't a hard dish to make, but everything takes me forever to do.

Speaking of that, I have not had any energy at all! I can't remember exercising once this week (so ashamed). Ugh. All it seems like I want to do is eat, eat, eat. The house is getting sloppy again, and I had the scare of my life the other night. I noticed that my cat had fleas, so I remember that I had bought some medicine for that the day we took him home, and used it. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm usually such a hypochondriac (not just for myself, but for others too), and will research anything I use, but not this time. The flea drops were Hartz, and there is actually a website called, because so many people have lost their cats and dogs to that crap. Well, After I read that (after it had been on his fur for a few hours) I immediately washed it off (which he HATED). It's been a little over a day, and he seems to be fine, but I'm still keeping a close watch on him, because he's my baby.

Oh, and I'm considering giving up cheese even though it's like my favorite thing. I watched an episode of this show called Freaky Eaters, and there was this guy that only ate pizza. He actually ate it so much that he made himself lactose intolerant! And one of the nutritionists said that with him eating all that cheese that he was either going to end up with a cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. It was only a matter of which one got to him first. It really got me thinking. I eat cheese not just everyday, but for almost every meal, and I don't just have a pinch either. I don't know if I can do it, but I'm willing to give it a try. Some of the meals we have are going to have to be dumped, though, because there's so much cheese in them when we make them (pizza, homemade macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, ect).

I've limited my sweets a lot, and I never thought I could do that, so there is a chance limiting or stopping my cheese consumption could work. I have replaced my sweets with cereal, bananas, or strawberry and banana shortcakes. the little sponge cakes are only 70 calories a piece, and the whip cream is even less, and I have only had three this month, so not too bad. I love the cereal, and have been eating it for snacks during the day or at night. I'm trying to eat serving sizes, but I sometimes end up having two. It still is less calories than a huge candy bar or piece of cake, though.

10-23-2010, 11:18 AM
I'm still struggling with my food this weekend. I really need to get back on track.

Found out that December 12th I will be doing a 5k marathon with my bf and his parents. Which is a HUGE deal, because I haven't met his parents yet. Usually you don't meet them until after the guy proposes to you here in Korea. And it was his mother who called and suggested we all do the 5k together!

I have to get my butt into gear! LET'S GO RED TEAM!!!!

10-23-2010, 02:55 PM
I'm hugely relieved to report that I seem to have lost 3.8 pounds overnight, so I think that's the water/sodium coming out of my system. Hope to have another miracle by tomorrow morning so that I won't cause us a big gain in the results.

Terapet -- Thanks :) One thing that I know works for me is checking in here, and I shouldn't have taken the break that I did. I'm always motivated and more accountable to myself when I read posts on this site.

Serval -- Ohhh, I love cheese too. I wasn't allowed any in the first phase of my diet, that was hard, and now I have it minimally. I'd hate to have to just give it up for good.

10-23-2010, 03:53 PM
Angie~ 3.8lbs.!!! Great job!!!

shan84~ 5K, that sounds exciting!

Serval87~ That dish sounds duper yummy! Great job replacing your sweets with healthier foods!

TERAPET~ How was the Y?

Angie~ Do you have a plan to help get you back on track?

julie99s~ How was "Halloween at the Y?"

alwe74~ How was your second massage?

CanadaMel~ How is your weekend so far?

sha25~ How are you feeling today?

A bunch of my friends want me to go out with them after work tonight as there is a dance at the local legion to celebrate Halloween. I can't decide what I want to do as I know it will be a lot of fun, but at the same time, I don't really have the money for it and I don't want to drink a bunch of calories either. Ugh, choices, choices, guess it will boil down to how I feel at the end of work. Plus, I do have to get up early tomorrow so I can get to my nephews football tournament.

10-23-2010, 05:17 PM
KimL-A Halloween dance sounds fun. Could you go and not drink? Maybe not. I would have had trouble with that when I was in my twenties. The Y was good. We had a sub instructor for the step class so I just kind of took it easy cause I did not know what to expect.

Serval-I hope your kitty is still good. That is scary.

10-23-2010, 06:42 PM
Shan- bf must be talking you up to the parents & sounds like they're excited to meet you! Check out the couch to 5k program. A 9 week running program to get you running. I used it when I started running along with Robert Ullery's music podcasts which tell you when to run & when to walk. It's a great program & you'll do GREAT!

Kim- don't let peer pressure get to you. Go only if you want to & if you do, allow yourself to have fun- whether drinking or not!

Serval- I love cheese too. I've tried to limit my intake of the regular cheddar etc & chjose to have more exotic choices like feta & blue & the occasional Gouda. My problem is I like to have crackers with my cheese :0

Angie- yay for being down 3.8, welcome back & here's to staying accountable!

Terapet- a loss is a loss (at least in my book)! Good job!

I weighed in this morning, no change, so I breathed a sigh of relief as I had made poor food choices this week. Today we are having turkey dinner since we didn't have it over Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. We normally celebrate US Thanksgiving since dh & I are from the US, but the kids live celebrating the CDN one.

Hope everyone is having a super weekend!

10-23-2010, 07:56 PM
TERAPET: He seems to be doing better, but I think it messed up his toilet training (yes, toilet), so I may be having to start from the beginning again.

CanadaMel: My problem with cheese is that I will sometimes have it on tortillas or bread as a meal.

10-24-2010, 12:35 PM
The baby hasn't been sleeping at night, so instead of jumping online for any extended period, I take a nap with him after the gym. I am beat. I haven't fallen off, I'm still truckin'. I'm hoping my foot is healed next week so I can do classes again. About all I can do is the eliptical and it's getting borrrring.

Way to stick with your workouts even though you're tired! I need to take a page out of your book!

10-24-2010, 12:41 PM
Well the second massage was good but my neck and upper back are a mess. A couple of months ago my (he-man) 3 yr. old. was sitting behind me. He grabbed my head and twisted it around really hard so that I would look at him. Then he turned around and did the same thing on the other side. Since then my neck muscles have been totally sore and I'm sure I need to get a chiropractic adjustment but I'm afraid it will really hurt since the neck muscles are pulled. Anyways, I think that is part of what is causing my migraines. I'm gonna start doing some yoga and see if that will help the pulled muscles.

10-24-2010, 01:05 PM
Way to stick with your workouts even though you're tired! I need to take a page out of your book!

It's part of my routine now. I go right after I take the girls to school. Plus I look at it as time when I'm not holding a crabby baby. A whole hour or so to myself. Score! I'll chase that proverbial carrot, dangling over the eliptical for time to hear my own thoughts lol. I really struggle during the weekends.

I hope yoga helps your muscles out. Yeeouch!

10-24-2010, 07:09 PM
Don't forget to weigh in today! Hope everyone had a great weekend.

10-24-2010, 10:20 PM
Whew...busy week, just got weighed in and trying to post. As of this morning I have lost 20 lbs....whoohoo!..had a bad weekend again, we have a bad habit of eating out on the weekends. I try to order good food but it is hard when you can't controll the sodium, prep, etc. I hope evryone has a great week.

10-24-2010, 11:07 PM
Tambolina! :celebrate: 20lbs! That's awesome. Go you!!!
