Food Talk And Fabulous Finds - Has anyone tried Dakon?

It's also known as a Japanese giant white raddish. I happen to love radishes, and these things are HUGE. They're like as long as my hand to my elbow and almost as thick. I know that they're not organic, and they are very expensive ... almost 5 bucks! But I have been wanting to try them even before they started selling them at the local Kroger.
So, has anyone tried them? What kind of flavor do they have, and how do you prepare them? Thanks.

I think the spelling is daikon. These are a hearty root and can be cooked with in soups and braises (cubes), and are great quick pickled though they have a bit of a pungent smell in that prep.

Whoops. I can't believe I messed the spelling up. XD Thanks.

I had them on a Banh Mi. It was delicious! The daikon was sliced thin with carrots, and marinated. That's the only way I've had it, though.

I haven't tried them but my boyfriend loves daikon radishes thinly sliced on his salads.
