Wow! Am I the first one here? Cool! Gotta go and put some coffee on, back in a minute.
Have a lot on the agenda today, we are having some friends over for dinner. On of our guests used to work with my husband, he was the security guard at the plant. Vern also has double lung cancer and now more recently has been determined he is legally blind. He goes for cataract surgery next week. We feel like we need to adopt him since this poor man has no family, never married and has no children. He is a real gentleman and I am very happy he will be at our table tonight. This Christmas he wants to buy Miree a HUGE present, something for over $100. I think it's excessive but from what I hear from his landlady (Lorraine, who has also adopted him and is also coming over for dinner) Vern thinks he isn't going to last the year. So I've been forced to quiet my protestations since if this is one of the man's final wishes, how can I say no? So looks like we will be pouring over the Sears Christmas Wish Book to find something. All in all, I expect a lovely dinner.
I also have to do some shopping (my favourite thing!!) to get Miree a snowsuit. The local Zellers have them on sale and oday only we get an extra 15% off. So guess where I'm going?? :D
Lot's of cleaning and general work, so you all have a great day everyone and keep smiling! And get your hands out of the Halloween candy!

C'mon back Pooky... the coffee is barely decent (yesterday's warmed up), so I at least need some good company! The weather here today is awful..... rainy, blustery - just the perfect day to curl up with a good book. BUT--- today is dentist day :fr: and I have a very bad feeling about this one! Somehow it feels like it's gonna be really big bucks.... well, I won't worry now - I'll wait until later today! :dizzy:
Janice... it's good to know that you're doing ok, perky purple puppies and all! The rest of it can all wait until the docs clear you!
What does everyone have planned for the day? Anything good? Anything exciting? Anything fun? I hope so, 'cause I'd like to at least READ about someone having a fun time today!
Well, gonna go make FRESH coffee - this stuff is the pits! Catch you all later!

Sorry, SamsG, nothing more exciting here than laundry day. And the washer decided to start out with a trickle and end with a small moan just before it died. Anyone priced new washers lately? We have bought 3 since we bought our dryer, and it's still going strong. Hmmmmm, maybe it's a conspiracy?
I hope ya'll have a wonderful day today, and do something special for yourselves. Think of my as I sit in the laundromat, okay? Talk to ya'll later!!

Hiya, Pooky! I was in earlier but had a dog emergency before I was able to post. :( Our kitchen is curently a disaster and the Girls got into the spice basket! Explanation to follow.
Sam'sGram, you are right! We need better coffee than that! Thanks for not offering me a cup.
Mamaj, three cheers for those PERKY PURPLE PUPPIES! Are you gonna post pictures? A speedy recovery to you and I hope the below the waist stuff gets done soon.
LindaBC, I got Harry a GF grill for Christmas last year and I love it! (Note the use of pronouns!) I can sure relate to the storage problem! I keep mine in the space between the stove and counter where the towel rack hangs. The machine does store on its edge and that works fine. I use it a lot and find I need to use a higher temp than GF recommends to get good browning.
The reason I'm in messy-kitchen mode is the darn new furnace installation! Our basement stairs are very narrow and have shelves along one side. Naturally the new furnace would not fit down the stairs so........ all my preserves, baking pans, pots, jars, general stuff was placed on my counters and table by MEN! The plastic baskets full of spices were the Girls' target this morning. Luckily the baking chocolate was spirited away last night - no I didn't eat it! The basement door and doorframe was also removed and they put that in the diningroom. All will be back in place today. We will be getting a new oil tank soon and the same scenario will occur! I can hardly wait!
At any rate, we are warm now. The new furnace really seems efficient! All this happened yesterday which is a blessing as it is damp and cool this morning. I didn't get in to post but did do a quick read.
Right now, I'm supposed to be up at the Church - yes, the Mad Doctor did get more bulbs to plant. It's raining so the whole thing may have fizzled but I'm going to go check it out and make coffee for any diehard planters!
This afternoon will be spent in the Office working on the last reports! I was able to restore all my Accounting files. Thank God for back ups! I do hope to work in a nice cosy read sometime too. :D I love snuggling on a chair reading a good book with two dogs warming my feet.
I hope everyone has a good weekend - SH husbands nothwithstanding!
P.S. Sherrie, you snuck in on me. The last comment applies to SH ex's too! Won't guarantee you'll have a fun time at the laundromat but try!

Well, its raining here too, however I cant curl up with a book this afternoon. :( I sounds like a wonderful idea.
This is the second day of our Grand Opening celebration. Yesterday went great! Channel 4 news showed up and taped the ribbon cutting and some of the store. So any of you ladies get Buffalo's channel 4 .....thats us!! We had hoped the media (anyone of them we didnt care) would show up, and it turned out better than we hoped for. I think it was good that we didnt know the tv station was coming, hubby would have been more nervous than he already was. I dont think I would have liked to have been around him :stress: Anyway some of you asked what kind of store it is, its a small gift shop, we carry rustic twig furniture, candles, assorted gifts and work by local artisans.
Managed to stay OP Im really proud of myself:dancer: I think I just might make it this time!! Monday is the 2 week period of induction, and I'll see what Ive lost then and decide if I'll stay on induction, or add more carbs.
Update on the itchy skin.....finally its starting to feel a bit better. I have uped my water by 36 oz per day (ontop of the recommended) and doubled my mag for a little while. So far so good, Im not waking in the middle of the night to scratch.
All you ladies have a great day!

Gonna be a cloudy cool day here too. Hopefully we will drive to Victoria and take Baby Jay to the Petting Farm at Beacon Hill Park. He can chase the ducks, swans etc, he will have a ball there, (note to self not to wear my long wool skirt, their goat tried to eat it last time, had it up near my thighs by the time I fished it outa his yap!!). I have no more good books to read, just finished a trilogy by Pauline Gedge. Well Ladies, warm happy thoughts to you all!

Another wet, soggy day in Houston. Had my decaf for the day, anyone want a glass of tea or water?
Sherrie~Wish you lived closer! I have an almost new washer wasting away in our storage building - you'd be welcome to it! What did sh-ex do now?
Ruth~You devil you! I'll tell you this much about my purple puppies! I did give permission to the staff to do follow up shots on all of my procedures and they will be posted on the web site! Think you could pick me out?
Meowna~lmao! I had no idea that the goats would try to eat the wool! Good think you noticed before ...well, you know! :o Enjoy your day!
Robin~Great news on your grand opening!! I think that's wonderful to promote your local artists! Are you going to have a web site? Best of luck to you!
Dottie~I can relate with that rainy day feeling! Enjoy your quiet, reading day!
Sams~Nothing much planned here. Frustrating cause I still can't drive. Wish I had thought to pick up some good books during my down time. Aw well, have watched more TV this week than normal in a month. Learning all kind of things like-did you know that a kitchen collander makes a neat light cover? how about that peroxide removes blood from clothing? I need a book! :dizzy:
Not much planned for the day. DH and I went to breakfast, came back and had to do paperwork for ice house. Opened the drop in safe and it's empty! gone-nothing-notta. No keys, no money bag, etc! Can't get hold of the girl that worked last night but also can't imagine her stealing it-maybe he weirdo husband. What a way to start the day. I'm so sick of being stolen from!
Other than that-I'm bored! Can't even raise my arms to turn on the light switch. Not that I can't physically - not allowed to.
Oh, note to Jennifer-I think Ikea does deliver. I've seen delivery trucks around us. Have you checked out their web site? Maybe get info from there.
Hope everyone has a great day!

MamaJ, glad to hear you survived the drug OD and surgery. I too wanna see pix of perky purple puppies. My next door neighbour had breast reduction surgery last year and she was thrilled with the results. Can you believe her dh didn't want her to have it done? Men and their big boob obsessions. She's 58 and now has puppies that point upward. WOW! No more back aches either. Now I have the opposite problem. I've always wanted to get my midriff bulge shifted UPward. LOL Cleavage at last.

pork chops, cauliflower baked with sour cream and cheddar cheese, and peas-just a few for me, and a baked potato for DH.
Come on over, there's plenty!
had a quiet day, went out to lunch with DM and DN, sis works Saturdays, so we pitch in with the little one, so her dad gets a bit of saturday to himself. She is turning 8 soon and has really become so much more of a person- following adult conversation, trying to "add" to what's being said-so fun to be with!
did major cleaning and DH is doing his ironing(I know, I know, don't throw things at me, he's wonderful-does 2 loads of his clothes, and irons his own pants and shirts.) I send out some to the cleaners, but he likes to iron them himself! What a guy.
I rented The Shipping News, so we'll watch that tonight. Did anybody read that book? I liked it, but I read it a long time ago and don't remember the story too well. I'll let you know how it was...
Not much else going on. boy, am I boring.
Back to Far From the Madding Crowd. I read this in high school, and am trying it again.
boring-er and boring-er,
dottie

OMG, Dottie! Hardy on a dull rainy day! Better have it with Scotch.
I read The Shipping News and liked it. Annie Proulx really got the flavour of our oldest settled but newest in Confederation Province. How's that for lousy sentence structure!?
The nutcases did plant bulbs at the Church in the rain. I came home and read the paper. Went to the Office in the afternoon and got most of my big reports done!
Got home at 5 and realized the 5 pound roast of pork needed hours to cook so we have switched the menu - fish cakes for DH and shrimp for me! I think I'll do the cheese and cauliflower thing and copy Dottie. I am really trying to stay pure Atkins today and see what affect that has on my glucose levels.
Time for the pre-dinner drink by the fire in the company of wet but cuddly dogs.
Hope everyone has a grerat evening.

Hi everyone. Very deep purple funk here today. Reese's Cup-style depression, can't get out of bed, can't think about the ten thousand and one things I didn't get done while I was in bed. I hate feeling this way, and I hate the person who made me feel this way. Confrontation is out of the question, he's working tomorrow, so I can't really get past it yet. Hope tomorrow is a better day than today. Loved reading all about your fun weekend, hope to add something more uplifting tomorrow! Love you guys!!!!!

Awww, Sherri, I'm sorry you're having a gloomy time of it. Sometimes men can be a royal pain in the a@@. What makes it even worse is knowing that they make us more miserable than we make them. Most of the time they just brush things off and go about their merry way, while we mull over everything that was said, plan revenge/confrontation/murder, etc.
I finally got my rear in gear and vacuumed entire house, then washed all washable floors AND cleaned main bathroom. Then I went and rewarded myself with a hearty helping of chocolate chips. Now why did I do that? :?: Well, as you can tell, I'm having a very hard time kicking the carbs this time. Time to go to Plan B (as soon as I figure out what Plan B is).

Hope everyone enjoyed the extra hour of sleep. My dogs forgot to change their body clocks so we were up early as usual.
I'm off to Church for 8:30 and then will go shopping at The Third World Bazaar - I need some funky earrings or something! I may get my financial reports all finished today! Oh Joy!
A week from today is the AGM for the Fair Board and the new Treasurer takes over. One fly in the ointment - the current Manager/Secretary has decided he doesn't want to do it anymore so we need a new manager. NO I am NOT going to do it! I'd rather stick hot pins in my eyes.
Take some time for yourselves today, Chickies.

Morning all-
Hi Debkay, have a fun day with your company
Linda, let's try again this week to get a few good days under our belts!
Sherrie, hope today gives you a little more distance on the ex. I assume this is why he is ex! Do something to put your mind on something else- something for you-
Hi Ruth, how IS your blood sugar this past week or so? Has it settled any? I am trying to get ONE PERFECT DAY into me; I know each subsequent day will be easier once I have a couple days of Induction behind me, but I haven't gotten there yet! Maybe today:D
Off to the showers, I'll stop back later,

Good Morning everyone! Did you forget to change your clocks? My girlfriend did!
Ruth, don't blame you a bit for not wanting to get involved--you've done enough service for them, enough is enough!
Dottie, I wish I had a perfect day in here but there is always something cropping up that I am having a hard time just getting to that point. My aim is just one perfect meal these days...
Sherrie, don't let him get you riled, that's what he wants! He's pushing all your buttons and getting a kick out of watching you react. Breathe in, and out, breathe in, and out. Now go and think up some strategies with dealing with him in the future and when he starts with his games then just leave or tell him to get out! ((HUGS))
Linda, same boat here hon, wish I had Plan B myself! :)
Tired and crappy today--no surprise I went on a huge carb binge last night. Today is lots of protein and water, anything to stave off the carb monster!
Relatively easy day for me, just putting plastic on the windows for drafts and getting Miree to try on her costume for Halloween so I can make some alterations.
Have a good one everyone!

Good morning! That extra sleep did me a world of good. I feel like I've given you all the wrong idea. The ex is taking too many liberties with dd, trying to pick her up from school early and trying to take her out of daycare without my permission. He refuses to listen to reason, and there is absolutely no working this thing out. I am scared he'll take her away and never bring her back. I know I sound irrational, but he has this habit of disappearing for months on end. Anyway, I had to put him on red flag status at the school and daycare, and we had a knock-down, drag-out over it. Hurtful words were exchanged, he's extremely angry at me, and I don't want dd exposed to his temper, so the weekend visit at grandma's got called off. Now I'm the bad guy to grandma and grandpa too. Oh, what can you do? Try to protect your children and everyone hates you. I don't care so much about me, it's just wrong for dd to be hurt too. Hopefully a little time and space will cool him off, and we can try again next weekend. At any rate, I hope you are all going to do something wonderful for yourselves today, I'm off to the flea-market for some books and I might even eat a corn dog! Those Reese's cups ruined my weekend. (It was worth every bite, too!!) Talk to you later!

Good Morning All!
Well no park trip for us yesterday, hubby woke up and went straight to emergency, he chipped a tooth the nite prior and was in pure agony all day yesterday. So we had a quiet day around here. Oh well, perhaps another weekend we will go.
Sherrie- I too am a hated exwife, I stood up for my kids many many times over the past 12 years. It is a rotten position to be in, but the children come first and foremost. Mine would phone drunk saying he was on his way to pick up the kids, I would have to say NO, or he would arrange to pick them up, I would rush home from work, feed, bathe and get them ready to have them sit and wait for 45 mins, and he would no show! My daughter asked me once "do you think Daddy forgot where we lived?" I ended up moving many many miles away from him, was the best thing I ever did, not only for the children but also for myself! My children are older now and can see the rights and wrongs of it, but it was the pits at the time.
I have since remarried a wonderful man, who treats me like gold and my kids can depend on should they need to. The ex remarried a woman who can drink him under a table and takes rounds outa him. Poetic justice!
These things too shall pass. Keep protecting your child, cause in the end she will know you did it for her. If there is concern about him removing her, why not have supervised visits? A relative, or friend or such?
Keep your chin up! Hope it works out well for you both!
Ladies have a wonderful day, and good luck on staying on plan!
I admit I slipped up yesterday (ate pasta and dang it was good!! Today is a new day!

Sherry,
You had me worried last night. I am glad you are feeling better this am. All I can say is a mother knows best and only you can make the right choices for you and your family. A big hug your way.
My boys did so well yesterday at their karate promotion. Both received their blue belts and little man was invited into the black belt club, what that means I have no clue yet but his face was lit up like a badly decorated house for Christmas!
The naming ceremony is this afternoon. At 2:30 in the am there was a skunk somewhere in the neighborhood. This did not lead to good dreams, nor a wonderful smelling house for this many people to come to. But alas it has passed. I have all the food ready (actually my aunt and uncle are caterers) so I picked it up this am. The house looks good and that extra hour this am has allowed me to pop in and post. Ok I am off to cut up lemons and limes and put on some party cloths. Have a good day ladies.

I just wanted to pop in and say hi too! Having a major bad headache this morning. ugh. I think it was all the bread I ate last night and some chocolate. ugh and ugh again. Why do we do this to ourselves sometimes? Oh well. Today is a better day and I'm going to stay on plan today if it KILLS ME!!! I think I am also going to stay in bed with a warm washrag on my eyes and head.

Hi everybody, it is almost the end of the weekend and I am just now making it here! Been a LONG weekend!
June, hope you feel better. I feel crappy after my carbs too. My ankles are swollen badly. I don't think I have had water problems like this until now!
L, I don't know what kind of karate your kids are in, but in TaeKwonDo, the black belt club means $299 and 10 more bucks a month. He does get an extra 15 minutes per lesson for weapons training. No worries, they are covered with foam!
Wish I could reply more, but I am in the middle of putting in low carb recipes on the low carb cookbook for the site, and in between each recipe I am doing something house-needy, like putting dirty clothes in the dungeon, or sweeping a room. Whew, this house needs Merry Maids!
