UK Fat Chicks - Losing Weight For My Career AND for ME!!!

Hi Everyone, I'm Helen...I'm 32 years old and live in East London.

I am very very overweight....about 10 stones overweight... :o

I am currently doing Slimming World and have found this to be the best Plan I have ever been on....have done it before but now I have realised that I HAVE to do this.

Currently Training to become a Psychotherapist and my Health is so bad that I have had to take time off quite a lot and miss Therapy...and I have realised that if I don't lose weight and sort out my Health Issues then I'm not going to be able to do my dream Career as a Psychotherapist because I can't take time off when I am qualified...I have to be reliable.

I am also doing this for ME....There are so many things that I want to do....Including having a dream of climbing to Everest Base Camp - not even vaguely viable at the moment....but it WILL Be!!!!

In the past I have done the whole "When I've lost 5 stones I'll do this..."....but now I am working on a Stone at a time....And I'm setting little Treats along the way....So when I have lost my first Stone I am going to Treat myself to a nice Meal at Bella Pasta (tomato based sauce only!!) and a Trip to the Cinema in Leicester Square...not something I would normally do.

Anyway...I've probably rambled enough...LoL. I hope to be on here quite a lot to keep you all Updated....so I hope you can all put up with me :D

Here's to my first Stone being gone quite quickly :carrot:

Thank you very much Jennifer....I actually cooked last night for the first time in ages (I usually order Takeout!!)....and it was delicious...

Tonight I'm going out to a Cavery but I know what I can eat and what I can't...so I'll do okay... :carrot:

Hi Helen, good luck with the weight loss. I've always managed to eat out a bit while losing weight - it's just been a matter of not doing it too often and be careful about what you choose, as you say. I found learning to cook a wider variety of meals from scratch really helpful too.

Hi Helen, welcome to the forum!

It sounds like you've got a good plan in place, and doing it bit by bit is a great idea, as is incorporating treats :) I agree wholeheartedly with Lora about cooking from scratch - I try and cook as much as possible to get as much value as I can from my calorie allowance!

Good luck!

Your health will improve dramatically. I went from 105 kg to 77kg so far and I feel SO much better. You can do it. Rooting for you!

It sounds like you're in a good place to be! You've learned what hasn't necessarily worked for you before, and you're trying something much better!

You sound really very motivated and determined and your mini-goals seem to be well achievable. In fact, your post encourages me as well to continue on with my own plan, step-by-step :)

Thanks!

Hi Helen

Welcome! I also have a lot of weight to lose and am also considering Slimming World. I have lost a lot of weight before on my own but have regained over half of it so now think it's time to go with a plan. Why do you think Slimming World is the best plan?

Hi Helen!! So nice to see you on here. I live in LA now, but London is one of my absolute favorite places to be! Lived there previously and I miss it a bit more every day. Anyways, good luck, hope, and perserverance to you! I am on a similar journey to lose quite a lot, but I know in my heart that it's time for it to go. Time to move on to bigger and better things! Good luck, and please come back often! This place will help you more than I can even explain. No matter what you're feeling, check in often! There are so many people on here, and it will help to keep you strong, it really will. Light abd luck in your journey!!
