G'day all,

Well the best news must be that the sniper seems to have been caught.:bravo:
Hopefully the hostage crisis in Moscow will come to a safe end soon. There is just so much hatred in the world, it never seems to abate.:(

I went to see 'My fat Greek Wedding' yesterday afternoon. I went on my own and I loved it. I agree with all the comments, from those that saw the movie, have made.

DH just rang to say he was about to board his flight in Sydney to get home. He should be back in Adelaide in 2 hours time.
Lily dh was on a hook-up to the States yesterday and the 10 000 redundancies will happen but now closer to Christmas :(. Maybe the people in Lucent you deal with may not be effected :crossed:. DH is reasonably confident he will survive the next cull so much so that he has booked some very expensive seats for us to go and see Paul McCartney's concert in Melbourne on November 23.:twirly: . He is a big fan but he talks as though he is doing me a big favour, I think the seats at $185 each is ridiculous. We will drive over in the little dream machine and stay in a motel across the road from where dd lives. Looking forward to seeing her and her dh.
It is Paul McCartney's only concert in Australia, should be good but..........

Hanging the curtains at ds's tomorrow and I am also going to a very exclusive fabric shop near where he lives. I am still toying with the idea of making something new for his wedding. The silk dh brought back from India is an option but I was also thinking about a camisole top and pants in a soft crepe with a see- through long jacket. Just thoughts, if I see fabric that would match my idea in my head, I will go for it.

Must go and have a bit of a tidy before picking up dh from the airport.
See ya all
Cheers
Maria

Ann, I get so much crap in my e-mail I can't beleive it. It's gotten so that unless I know the person or recognize the address or am expecting something from some one I hit that delete button. You know you get 125 messages and keep 2.

It was a busy day for me today. All of receptionist were gone so had to do everything myself. Happily all my book work came out right. At the end of the meeting I had the right amount of money. Surprise , surprise. And through it all I managed to smile.

Had to go have my wedding rings made larger 1-1/2 sizes. The arthritis in that knuckle is so bad . Now they ( rings) twist around and around once they are on. That, my dears is a defining moment none of us want to have. Getting old ain't for wimps.

Maria I like the idea of making pants and tops. You need something new for this wedding. I wouldn't mind seeing Paul M. Karen I have been getting some spam but nothing like what you have. Jenye welcome back from your vacation. Going to my sis's tonite for an Italian meal. I am making the WW angel food cake for a light dessert after all that she is having. It is a big family get together for some out of towners.

Good Morning all
Karen a suggestion from my jeweler. Have him put some small gold balls inside your rings. I have two in mine. It won't stop you from putting them on, but it does keep them from twisting so much. Especially the rings with stones, as they are heavier and just fall over. I found it to work for me.

Maria: glad you like the Greek Wedding. It has done so well, They have called it the seasons sleeper, because no one expected it to do so well. It has been held over in many places and is still in the top four films out right now. Your separates in Indian silk sound like a nice idea, and also comfortable. Good luck with the drapes.
Hope the concert is all you expect. Those seats must be cloes to the front.
Tomorrow is weigh-in for me and I hope my changing my habits some will show up on the scale. I feel like there are some changes, but it will be the moment of truth.
Have a great weekend all.
Hurrah the snipers have been apprehended!! I wouldn't want to be the lawyer who has to defend them.
'See you later' Ann

MAria: What I wouldnt give to see Paul McCartney. I agree the tickets are expensive, but you will enjoy Im sure! They are about the same price here.
Enjoy! Hope your DH survives this layoff. I still havemt had to call the people at Lucent. Maybe I should just get snoppy and call :) Im gonna keep my fingers crossed for you. Your ideas for DS wedding sound wonderful!

Karen: I hear you on the getting old. Could they maybe postpone it for 2 years???? I would go for it in a minute. Funny you mention the reps not showing. I had a call from a girl I sub for and she didnt want to go. The meeting was at 5:30 and she called me at 4:00. I told her NO as I wasnt prepared with clothes. But I went anyway just to make sure she showed. And she did.

I want to see Greek Wedding!!!!!!!!! DH wont go ALAS:.........

Hi Everybody
I phoned my grandson a couple of days ago to see what he would like for his birthday dinner (tomorrow) and he told me he had very bad news. :( I asked him what it was and he told me that some kid at school stole his Yu-Gi-Oh cards out of his backpack. For you gals who don’t have any idea what they are…..It’s sort of like when we were young and boys used collect baseball cards. These Yu-Gi-Oh cards cost $5.99 for a pack of 9 cards and you can buy them at 7-11 stores. My grandson had around 100 of them. The kids take them to school and play a game with them with their friends until the school bell goes. The children at his school hang their outer clothes and backpacks on hooks OUTSIDE of their classrooms, and someone came along and helped themselves to his cards. They are not allowed to take things like that into their classrooms. He even had them sort of wrapped up in his hat and tucked into the backpack, but as LILY would say, ALAS they were stolen anyway. So now we have children stealing from children. The poor little guy is having trouble hanging onto his possessions.
Maria I think silk pants with a shell and jacket would look just lovely. You could wear it many times after, to dinner, or to another wedding. Is the silk you have patterned? I was thinking if it was, and you had enough for the pants and jacket the shell could be in a plain silk.
Hmmmm, I sure would like an outfit like that. My nephew is getting married next year, I'll have to think about that. :)
Lily and everybody, I saw "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" last Tuesday night and I don't remember when I enjoyed a movie more. It was just excellent. You must see it Lily, it is so funny. You know your DH just might enjoy it too. :)
Karen I get junk mail too, but fortunately not as much as you do. I don't ever open anything any more unless I know who it is from. A friend sent me the Klez virus, and every time I opened my mail, my Norton Antivirus was informing me that I had the Klez virus. She finally got her computer cleaned up so all is well. :cp:
I have a busy day tomorrow. I have a baby shower to go to with my dil and granddaughter at 2:00 and then at 4:30 I have my grandson's birthday dinner. I also received an invitation to a friend's 60th birthday party which is at 4:00 tomorrow. I think I will stop at her place before the shower to wish her a Happy Birthday and give her, her birthday gift. :hb:
Maria It took a long time to get finished with the dental implants, but I sure am happy that I had it done. The root canals that I had before lasted for about 30 years so even that was a good investment. :)

G'day all,

Beautiful Sunday morning and the start of daylight saving:) I was up early and sprayed all the weeds, particularly those that come up throught he pavers on the drive:mad: Of course ds never did any weeding, poisoning or cutting back of ANYTHING! My friend who still mows the lawn did a little, I really only expected him to mow the lawn.
This afternoon we want to go and look at some trellis that I would like to have outside the window of our computer room. It will be nice to have something creeping over it.
Gradually things are getting back the way I would like it.

Slavika your poor grandson, he cannot seem to take a trick at the moment:cry: I have never heard of the cards but I am sure they are fantastic to have;)

Ann thanks for the tip, I have a similar problem with the knuckles and I have started to wear one ring on the other hand. I hate to say it but even for the price of the tickets (Paul McCartney's concert) we are not that much towards the front. At that price I expect to sit on the stage:D
Lily don't worry about your dh, go by yourself to see the Greek wedding that is what I did and thoroughly enjoyed it. DH has to have a bit of violence, some obscure plot and lots of action!!!! All the things that I don't enjoy in a movie so it is best to go on our own. I go to very few movies and went to this one because of all the recommendations.

The wedding outfit.....well I made toile yesterday with some calico for the fit etc. and it did not look good, some alterations need to made. There is so much I want to do and I really don't know where to start. DH told me to make a list and work my way through the list  Because we have only been home such a short time, we have lots of friends popping in for '5 minutes', it is lovely to see everyone but I am not getting anything done fast.

The curtains are hanging in ds's house and they look great but it took until 3 in the afternoon and that is when I then made my toile, I just have to start taking my time.

DH is ready to go to the plant nursery, so I had better go
Cheers

Slavika: Oh how sad. Poor little guy. Cant believe they start that young at stealing from others. :( Still waiting to see The greek wedding. Did see Monster INC. tonight. Laughed so hard and then cried at the end. To cute! A must see. Its a renter. Glad you didnt get the Virus. Not good to open anything anymore, even if you know them. ALas, sad but true.

Maria: I think my DH would enjoy the Greek Wedding. Its not the movie just getting him to it. Hes not much for theaters. But put a surroud sound in my house is a whole different story :) Maybe I will make a girl weekend next week. I do hate waitng until it comes on video. :)
You will figure out our dress. Sure its hard being back home where all your friends are. But you need to make time for them as you never know where you are off to next :) So enjoy the time you have with them!

Slavika, sorry to hear about your GS and his cards. What a thing to have happen so soon on the heals of have his house broke into.

Maria I think your wedding suit sounds like a great idea. We just went off daylight saving .

Haven't had a chance to see the greek movie yet but do plan on it as soon as I know it is in town. All of you have talked so much about it there is no way I'm going to miss it.

Went to Weight Watcheres big 40th anniversary bash today. What a good time we had. The chef of the hotel really went all out for us. His wife is a Weight Watchers member and when he told her we were going to be there she gave him all her cookbooks and he created a wonderful meal for us. A salad with a dressing he created. followed by a marinated chicken breast with a fruit salsa that was to die for. And my favorite mashed ,potatoes and roasted vegetables. Rolls with flavored butter. And for dessert angle food cake with berries and whipped topping. The whole dinner was 14 points and worth every one of them. My receptionist from one of my groups and I won a award for member retention. She also got reconized for her 5 years of working also she is a mentor for receptionist training and received a special charm for her bracelet I was honored with for the second time best over performance as a leader. We all got new charms for our bracelets a 40 years of W.W , A computer mouse charm for Weight Watchers .com I got one for all the ordering I do for all my meetings. The we all got the new logo pin that I just love. (there is blue in it) All in all a really go day.

Now for some reason I can't sleep. Was sleeping real good then woke up and here I set. Just drank some sleepytime tea. I expect it to kick in in a few minutes. So am going to get off this thing. Have a great rest of the week end girls.

G'day all,

Well things are changing yet again, does it ever stop!
We had a great weekend cruising in our dream machine;) Unfortunately on our way home a young boy on his bike had been hit by a car. It had only just happened and the sickening thing was to see his helmet embedded in the broken windscreen of the car. He was sitting up and people were attending to him, I think the helmet may have saved him. It certainly showed the value of wearing a helmet.

This morning dh got an email to go to India for 3 months!!! He has emailed back and wants to know the employment conditions (it is a different job then the 12 month stint we were supposed to do). If it had not been for ds's wedding 3 months would have been just nice to see a bit of India etc. We are now sort of thinking that dh goes for 6 weeks, back for the wedding and then we go together. Who knows if they will agree to that.
The other thing is that Paul McCartney has postponed his one and only Australian concert, supposedly out of respect for the victims of the terrorist bombing in Bali. I am not overly fussed as I thought the tickets were far too expensive and as it now turns out dh would have probably been in India at the time of the concert. We/I will still go to Melbourne to see our dd and her dh. She has had some great results in her end of year exams, I told her I would like to take her shopping for a new dress for her to wear to the wedding, I much rather do that then see Paul McCartney.
And I have also received a reply for a job I applied. They want me to come for an interview, not much point doing that now.
I am so pleased I went to the dentist as soon as I came home, my teeth will be all fixed over the next 2 weeks.

This morning I cleaned out the garage, re-organised everything and used one of those 'blower things) to blow all the dust out. For a garage, it now looks a treat!
Karen your WW bash sounded like it was a lot of fun, congratulations on receiving the reward, well done.

Lily perhaps we should swap dh's, I am with him, I much rather watch a DVD or video in my own home with surround sound etc. then go to the movies with people talking, crunching on potato chips, slurping their drinks etc. etc., I know I am a bit pathetic but that sort of thing really irritates me and I ALWAYS seem to have someone close by doing any or all of the above. When I went to see the Greek wedding movie, I moved 3 times!!!

I best be off, it is a lovely warm day and I thought of going for a bit of walk to the beach.

Cheers
Maria

Since returning all has seemed to be happening to us, we have been to a 50th Birthday party, a 40th Wedding Anniversary and I am not quite sure which way is up. I have read all the posts and at long last I am up to date.

Maria weren't you lucky that you were a few minutes later than the car that hit the young lad. Have you heard how he is? You seem to be up in the air about your trip to India, but still, your DH must wonder what is going on. Oh well I suppose that all will come good eventually. Your trip to Melbourne sounds great, have you decided where you are going to buy the dress for you DD? They still seem pretty sure that the McCartney show has been cancelled due to the Bali incident, but I am not to sure of this.

Karen The WW bash sounds as if it was fun. Congratulations also on your award It does not seem as if they have been around out here for that long, but that can be very deceptive. The Greek Wedding has started in Melbourne and from what all you gals say I wouldn't miss it.

Slavika, Ann, Lily, Painter, Trudy and all whose names I have forgotten. HELLO.

Slavika your poor grandson. He has had his share of misery. Sad to have things taken out of your back pack. I am guessing that these cards are the newest thing since Pokemon. Hope that they are returned to him. Maria things sure do change for you. Hope that it all gets worked out so you know what is really going to happen. Karen congratulations on your awards. You must be a super leader. We already figured that out. Had a stomach bug over the weekend and have to go out today to get stuffing and assorted other things. Saw some wedding pictures of my niece's wedding that we didn't get to go to in Florida a few weeks ago. Laughing because she wore gym shoes with a big flower on them under her dress. She is an arty type and did her own thing. At least she was comfortable. See you all later,

Karen: Sounds like your food at Innovations was better than ours. I dont think ours was to WW friendly. Was some Pasta with chicken and a creamy sauce, Could be wrong tho.
Congrats on the award you got! Thats great and well deserved!

Maria: That accident sounded horrible. Glad he was ok. India? At least its not for the year your thought. Sorry to hear about the concert.
I like watching movies at home more than going to the Theater. It is so much better for the reason you described. Sometimes I just dont want to wait for the Video. And The Star Wars movies are always better in the theather. Didnt make the last one and thats the only time DH will go!

Jenye: Sounds like you have been busy. Lots of partys! They are always fun.

Peggy: Sorry your sick, hope you get better soon! Im with your niece and the gym shoes. My feet always hurt wearing heels and I hate to wear them! I shouldnt wore tennies at mine!

Later!

Where to start? Everyone is so busy and so full of activities.

Karen - what a bash you had at your WW thing! You just walked off with everything. It is so nice to get noticed for the great job you are doing.

Maria - does your head just spin, thinking about all the possibilities in your life? I know it will all work out, but wow! Keeps your on your toes! You sound as if you are sooooo busy! But enjoy it! I hope you enjoy all the company too. They just love you.

Slavika - so sorry for your grandson! I know from my own grandsons how important this kind of stuff is. He is certainly learning about being careful with his belongings. Just such a shame!

Well, I am going through a blue funk! We have had for 8 straight days! I could not live in Seattle! How do people survive the clouds and dreariness?

I had a pretty much eat-everything-you-want Saturday. I had to "test" the trick-or-treat candy I had bought for Halloween. That always adds to a blue funk, doesn't it?

We had a young man in Sallisaw, OK go on a spree and shot 10 people Saturday and killed two of them. All because one man had yelled at him that he was driving too fast. What is going on?

Lily - go see the Greek Wedding. I even heard that it could be put up for Best Picture this year. Wouldn't that be something?
Glenda

:grouphug: Hi Everybody
Karen :bravo: all of us on this board sure knew you were a good Leader it's nice to know that WW thought so too. :) "Best Over-All performance as a Leader", well done Karen.
Maria too bad about the young boy on the bike, but thank goodness he wore a helmet. If he was sitting up when you saw him I would take that as a good sign. I guess now you guys will have to wait to find out what DH would have to do in India for those three months. Your life is never boring. :)
Glenda "testing" Halloween candy....is that what we call it now. :D I have been known to "test" a few treats myself.
Jenye sounds like you have had a couple of nice parties to go to. I like parties or just little get togethers with friends or family.
Peggy Hi there......yes you are right these "Yu-Gi-Oh" cards are very much like the Pokemon cards. I bought my GS quite a few of those too. With the cards that DH and gave him last night at his birthday dinner and some he got from friends at this Kids Birthday Party on Saturday, he now has more then the number that were stolen from him. :)
DH was feeling not too bad when DIL, GD and I left for the Baby Shower yesterday, but by the time we got back here, he was not feeling too good. Our Son BBQ the steaks for the dinner, and I had twice baked potatoes ready to go into the oven and had made our grandson his birthday cake the Saturday before, so dinner went well. We let our grandson open all his parcels and he thanked his Papa and I very nicely and was happy with his gifts. Then I told him we had one more present, but that I didn't wrap it up because I couldn't find a box for it. DH and Son brought up the new "21 speed CCM Bike" for him that has all the little extra's on it. Try and picture what a 16 year old's face would look like if you gave him a "dream machine" like Maria's husband has, after he had just passed his driver's test, and I think that was the look on his dear sweet little face. He could not believe it. :hat: :gift: I love surprises!
DH went to bed at 8:00 last night feeling worse then he had all week. Three times at night I had to change all the bedding because of the night sweats he had. Our doctor was not "seeing" patients today because he was booked for the whole day giving flu shots. DH went to the local Walk In Clinic and they sent him for a chest x-ray and then read it immediately. He has pneumonia. The doctor gave him a antibotic called Biaxin to take for 3 days (its an antibotic for the respiratory tract) and if his chest is not better in three days he is to go in again, and they will do another chest x-ray (apparently he did not breathe deeply enough in the one they did today because it hurt him so much). He sure is not feeling very good this evening. He did have some dinner but his chest really hurts and he has the chills. I took his temperature and it was not quite 102. I sure hope he has a better night tonight.
Night all.

G'day all,

For all of you keen to come and visit me in Mumbai, check out this site, it is the place where we will be staying. You can even book over the internet;)

http://www.marriott.com/dpp/PropertyPage.asp?MarshaCode=BOMJW

It does look like we will be going, still want to iron out a few details before we agree to go.

I am off to the doctors tomorrow and the dentist. I haven't been feeling all that great since being home and I now have the start of a urinary tract infection:eek: I also need to get some advise re our health whilst in India. I am pretty sure that all our shots are up to date.

IF we go, we will be back a few days before christmas and then leave again on December 28. It is supposedly for 3 months which I am pleased about, if I hate it I am sure I can cope with 3 months.
As much as I love being home, I have found it hard to settle because of the uncertainty of when and where we will be going next. I am pleased I have got my house back to MY house and it will be like that when we return.

Slavika I also love surprises but I can never keep a secret and once I have bought something that I know dh/dd/ds will love I just have to give it straight away. A bit pathetic but alas!
I hope your dh is on the mend, at least you know what the problem is and treatment can start taking effect.

Glenda Blue funk:?: I have never heard that expression, I have the feeling it is not terrific! Yes my head does and is spinning but the spin is starting to slow down as it is becoming more clear what we will be doing.

Peggy what a great niece you have who is comfortable wearing her gym shoes (albeit with a big flower :D) on her wedding day, good for her. I think it is great that everyone can do what they want to do/wear on their wedding day.

Jeneye I agree with you, I do wonder what the real reason for the cancellation of Paul McCartneys concert is. I believe he was one of the first artists to have a concert after September 11. It is just as well as we probably would not have been in Australia anyway. I am still hoping that we can make a trip to Melbourne before we leave to see dd of course but also to see Federation Square. For the non-Australians, Federation Square was built in Melbourne and is housing some of the best available Australian Art. There has been quite a bit of controversy because the building is very different, I don't mind it and it is growing on me. For those interested this site will give you some idea why the controversy when you see the structure.

http://www.federationsquare.com.au/

I am going to have a very quite day, we had a cool change overnight and it is quite pleasant.

Cheers :grouphug:

Well here I am again. How are you all today. Here in Melbourne we are having a nice warm and sunny day, just right for the garden. My DH is out mowing the lawns and generally cleaning up ready for when we make the move. The party on Sunday was terrific and the one last Wednesday night seems as if it never happened. I haven't been to a party for ages and then 2 in one week:rolleyes: it never rains but it pours.

Maria Are you coming to Melbourne before you leave. I can't quite work it out. I haven't been to see Federation Square yet but hope to in the near future. Whow!! that place in Mumbai looks fantastic. Have you any room in your suitcase as I would love to come to. (only joking:joker: ) I hope that you have not got a UTI as they can be really unpleasant - good luck at both the Dr and the dentist.

Glenda Call me stupid but what is "Halloween Candy"? I have not heard of it - but hide the candy when I'm around as I love it. Also can you explain "BLUE FUNK" Is that like being "down in the dumps" as we call it.

Slavika I hope that your DH's pneumonia is starting to get better. It can be a very nasty thing if you don't get onto it quick, but you have and he has started on medication.

Well ladies that is all for now from sunny Melbourne:cool:

Take care all,

Jenye.

Hi everyone. I sure do miss a lot, when I don't get a chance to come and read everyones posts.
Slavika: Really tough on you gs and what a meanie to ssteal something out of a friends back pack. Someone surely knew he had them and where he had them. Hope he gets them back. I hadn't heard of those cards either. Hope you had a nice birthday dinner with him.

Karen: CONGRATULATIONS How nice to be rewarded for a job well done. I'd like to come to one of your meetings. I was bad this week didn't go to weigh in. We go early in the a.m. and it was thick fog, and no one wanted to drive so we stayed home. :tired: Now next week we are having a Fall Festival in our club house and I have to be there. So I'll be off another week. I have to be really good.:(

Glenda: Hope you get over the blue funk. I guess we all have days like that. This morning discovered a big puddle under the bathroom sink. Boxes and toilet paper all wet. It was not a good way to start the day. I've been confused the rest of the day.:?: The only good about this was that I was forced to throw out stuff I should have cleaned out long ago.:)

Peggy: How are the turkeys and snowmen progressing. Are you busy with Craft sales now? We rarely go to movies, because most of them are too loud, too violent, use bad language and have more sex than I care to see. So a movie has to be really good, before we go. Greek Wedding was one of those. A real sleeper. I guess no one expected it to be such a success. That ought to tell Hollywood something.

Maria: I admire you and your DH at the way you can take all the changes in your life and the uncertainty. You just seem to take it all in stride and move on. I think I would probably be a basket case, not knowing for sure what is coming next. Sorry about the cancelled show, and sure hope you can get a refund on the tickets. All that work will wait for you, while you enjoy your friends visits, even if their 5 min. turn into an hour or more. I'm sure they all missed your company.

Ashe: We are just getting off Daylight savings. Our dog is still on the old time, and our bodies are still not quite used to it either. There are times I just wish it would stay the same forget all the changing. But I must admit, in the summer, I like the longer daylight in the evenings. Oh well, guess we can't have everything.

Trudy: How are things? What are you doing to keep busy? Have you started to have really cold weather or any snow flurries? Some people are predicting a cold and snowy winter. How is your Mom?

Lily: Be sure to have a girls night out and see Greek Wedding. You will really enjoy it, I know. I was reading an article the other day that Hollywood is not 'getting it' yet and are still aiming movies for the youth, forgetting that the 'Boomers' and getting older and that their tastes are quite different from the 20 year olds. Just the success of My Big Fat Greek Wedding certainly proves that people do like good, clean funny movies.

Time for bed.:dz: Had a busy day. Ann

Maria you are in luck to be staying in yet another nice place. I was hoping that you would. It has all the nice amenities and things farily close by. Do they give you a suite instead of just a room? The building in Melbourne is interesting. I can see why it is controversial but if it is for art it has to be a little different. That makes it interesting. Jenye Halloween is a day celebrated here on October 31. It is mainly for kids. They dress in costume and go from house to house to "trick or treat". You carve a face into a pumpkin and put a candle in it. You are supposed to give out candy. I have been the Halloween humbug because we haven't had many kids come lately so I don't do it. I had lots of candy left over and I ate it. Now I don't have any. I sometimes call a blue funk as having the blahs. See you all later, Slavika hope that your dh is better.

Slavika: I bet your GS was surprised with his "Dream Machine" I can picture what his face was like. Im sure he was one happy Camper!
Your poor DH with his pneumonia. Thats bad. Gald he went and got something and found out what it was. Hope he is feeliing better.

Maria: Wow that place looks awesome in Mumbai. Looks like it has everything! 3 months will be much better than the year it was going to be. Good luck at the Dr.

Glenda: Sorry to hear about your Blue funk. I know I couldnt leave in Seattle. I would get the same way. Least you arent like them, they get it almost all year long. I like rain but not that much!

Jeyne: Its sunny here to. But its cold, winter is coming. ALAS. But its still nice enough to work in the yard. Got lots to do before it gets to cold. Did some last weekend and will do some more this weekend. Weeds! I hate them. I want cement! :)

Ann: Actually us girls are going out Sunday. We are going to lunch and to see the Greek Wedding. Cant wait!

BEst get busy.

Marie and Jenye - This is why I love to talking to everyone on the board--we all speak a little differently and have some different customs, but mainly we are so the same. Did you understand Halloween? When my kids were little, they liked Halloween as much as Christmas. It is fun because most people (except grinches like Peggy, ha!) give out candy and the kids love dressing up in costume. Sometimes us older kids do too and go to parties. My husband and I one year were Raggedy Annie and Andy. Just a lot of fun.

We are freezing here so Halloween won't be much if kids have to wear heavy winter coats. If winter is going to be like this, I want to get in a fetal position under my bed and wait for spring.

Lily - you will love the Greek Wedding. If only Hollywood "got it."

G'day all,

Well this morning things have changed once and India is off again but.......it could be back on again within the next 24 hours.
I am just getting everything organised so that we can go when they change their mind once again. Main reason is the Indian company keeps on changing their mind and doesn't want to pay for the expertise and they think if they got the book they can themselves run a CDMA network. As soon as they realise it is not quite that simple, we will be on our way again. No wonder I am going crazy trying to cope with these constant changes.
I am feeling much better today, I went to a local doctor yesterday and got some antibiotics for the infection. Next Tuesday I have an appointment with my own doctor to have a thorough check up and get her advise for India.

Peggy I am not sure if we have a suite, but the deal is that you have all your meals in the hotel's restaurant, laundry is done and you basically do nothing:) The hotel we stayed at in Hong Kong was one huge room, sort of divided in a sitting area and bedroom. That would be OK for a short time.
I found out that Mumbai has a population of 19 million

Glenda Halloween is not really celebrated here. The school my kids went to had an American exchange teacher hence we learnt a bit more about it. Interesting I am still in touch with her albeit sporadically. She was lovely and her home was in Boulder, Colorado.

DH is on the phone at the moment to India :dizzy:

Fridaynight we are out to dinner with friends who were in Bali at the time of the bombing. They were on another island and were at Kuta Beach the day after the bombing. The most moving thing he thought was, seeing a pile of shoes, sadly the owners were no more:(
When you hear those things, our life might be 'topsy turvy' but we are happy and healthy and a bit crazy;)

Have a great day all
Cheers
Maria

Glenda I am experiencing the "blue funk" too.
Maria The Marriott looks really nice. Will you be getting a suite? The prices are high, but with Lucent picking up the tab you don't have to worry about that. No doubt all the toilet paper you will require will be provided. I also liked the look of Federation Square. My DH came with me to see the Greek Wedding, but did not appreciate it. Like your DH he needs a few dead bodies laying around.
Jenye When you mentioned a warm sunny day and gardening... I thought how :lucky: you were right now. Looks like we are in for a long winter.
Slavika I also tested the Halloween treats.. just to make sure they were good enough to give out to all the little goblins tomorrow. :high: Sure hope your DH is feeling better today. Do you think he will get a flu shot now?
Lily How is the de-fluffing coming??? My sampling of the Halloween :chockiss: set me back a bit. I sure hope I get 100 kids tomorrow, otherwise those leftover chocolates will be calling my name.
Ann My Mom is recovering from her fall. Her knee is still sore to touch but doesn't ache. The fall really shook her up and she lost a lot of confidence. Tomorrow I am going to take her to Lenscrafters to get one lens replaced in her glasses. The scratches are bothering her.
Karen Congratulations :balloons: ! We should surprise you one day and show up at a meeting.

I am not feeling too "perky" these last few days. Don't feel like doing a thing. Today I made Hamburger Helper for din dins and threw in two handfulls of frozen peas to make it gourmet. :crossed: Luckily for me, my DH eats anything I put in front of him. Frozen yogurt for dessert, he thought he died and went to heaven.

Anyone get to see Road To Perdition this summer? We saw it at the cheap show on the weekend. Sure did like it... :cp: I can recommend it as a video renter.

Bye all... :grouphug:

Some of you were posting at the same time I did last night, I guess and so I never read about Slavikas'DH and the pneumonia or Marias Mombai trip. My post was really behind the times.

Slavika: Hope your DH is doing much better. Pneumonia sure can be tricky. Your birthday party sounded like fun, especially the surprise.

Maria: That is a controversial architectural style. Maybe they want to have a landmark like the Sydney Opera house.
At least you will be able to stay in comfort on your jaunt to India.
19 million is alot of people. :fr: My DH can't keep a surprise either. And when we get gifts in the mail before a birthday or Christmas he can't wait for the day to open them. Has to open them right then. :D:

Lily: Enjoy your girls day out.

Trudy: I like daylight. I could never live above the arctic circle where there is 3 months of dark:stress: That is a positive thing about Florida. It is dark earlier now, but never like it was up north. I used to go to work in the dark and drive home in the dark. Didn't like it one bit. My dd suffers from ?syndrome Where one needs more light, and has to have a light lamp, otherwise depression can set in. That might explain everyones 'blahs' or 'blue funk'

Our church held an alternative for Halloween. Because as kids get older they often got into trouble, no more costumes, and more tricks and even got to where there was vandalism. So we have had 3 nights with a number tents set up outside. And in each tent there is a scene portraying problems that youth can run into. Like drunk driving, drug overdose, getting pregnant, contracting aides, family problems like abuse, or runaways because the kids feel their parents never listen. Some just scary scenes too, and a cemetery to walk through. But then they also get to hear about the solutions and advice about making the right decisions in their life. It gives a very powerful message to youth and adults alike.

We ran aabout 300 people thru tonight. So now it is time to go to bed.

Hi to everyone. 'See you tomorrow' Ann:yawn:

Trudy love your "gourmet" meals. My dh will eat anything too. Don't you just love it. Glenda I am giving in and going to Sam's to get some treats for the little monsters. I hope that they come so I don't have to "treat" myself. Maria I would go nuts trying to figure out where I was supposed to be. 19 milllion people is a lot. Wonder what it looks like outside the perimeter of the posh hotel. Have fun riding in the dream machine.

This was the last night, and we had another 300. So I am tired. Also didn't sleep too well last night. Wound up I guess.
Anybody have any solutions to wanting to eat the world when I am tired. I just fight that urge. Time for bed. Check in tomorrow. Ann

G'day all,

Very warm day here today. DH and I went into the city, it has been a long time since we did that. A number of shops have changed but the biggest surprise was when we walked past a boutique with an outfit in the window that dh told me to buy!!!!!!
I tried it on and it felt great. It is a flowie sort of dress with a flowie sort of long coat. It is predominantly red with a bit of motif here and there. In time you'll see it when I post the wedding photos on the net.
DH is quite proud of himself that I have bought something that HE picked out. I told him either my taste is getting bad or his taste is improving:D I normally don't like what he picks out!
I am really pleased, with all this uncertainty when or when we don't go, I really could not sit and concentrate on making an outfit myself.

Ann what a great initiative by your church. I bet you are exhausted. Any solutions to wanting to eat the world:?: when you are tired. Whatever I suggest like carrot sticks etc. I am sure you know. If I am in one of those moods, I make myself a really hearty sandwich, it is better than telling myself all the time to have another carrot stick, celery stick or whatever and then in the end I REALLY go overboard.

Have a great weekend all
Cheers

Trudy - I have one of those husbands too. He will literally eat anything, so my cooking skills have just barely kept pace with his eating skills. When I "cook" I eat. I used to do all the homemade stuff and I weighed 30 pounds more than I do right now. I have never successfully gained the ability to cook and not eat.

Maria - It sounds like yur DH's tastes have been upgraded. The outfits sounds wonderful.

About eating the world when you are tired, when my babies were little and I would get up in the night and during the day I could have fallen asleep on cement anytime, anyday, I would eat thinking it would give me energy. Remember after swimming when you would be just famished? I have finally learned to just go to bed. Fatigue makes me insane when it comes to food.

Did I tell you the ultimate ultrasound showed that the baby is STILL a girl?

We had about 20 kids last night. Not much, but towards the last the kids made a killing because I did not want any candy left in my house.

Have a good weekend!
Glenda
