Greetings everyone!!!!
If you are new to this thread, we would love to have you "talk" here. We all want to eat and be healthier. Come on and join in our fun!!! :)

This group has been quiet for the last few days. What's going on with everyone?????

I've been trying to recover from moving our son into another apartment. It rained all last weekend (and all this week, so far) so that didn't make moving easy. It's difficult to move a love seat to a van in the rain. So, you wait till it stops raining for just a few seconds. Then, you wait and move more furniture between downpours.
Then, you wait till you can move it upstairs to the new apartment.
And, I'm not used to heavy labor. I've been sick since Sunday, not to mention bruises and sore muscles.
Poor Me!!!

Okay, I've told y'all my sob story. Can anyone top that? What's been going on???

p.s. I didn't lose a pound either this weekend. :(

Hi everyone,

Tina, thanks for starting the new thread. I hope you are getting some rest from the big move. I bet that was fun moving in the rain. :)

Well, I have news. I'm getting a new knee!! :flow2: I'm soooooo excited. I will have a partial knee replacement. I will be able to work in my garden and ride my horses again. Things that I haven't done in sooooo long!

It's raining here! It's a dreary day. The cold front blew in and so it's that wet cold.

Hope everyone is doing well.
Susan

Oh, Susan, that is wonderful about your knee. Although, I've never heard of a partial knee replacement. Can you explain that to us!

I didn't weigh in today. I've had such water retention from drinking too many colas. Today, I've been drowning myself in water. I hope that helps. ;)

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Tina

Okay, where is everyone? :)
It was a rainy Friday morning but a nice afternoon. I started out OP but ended up eating a piece of chocolate pie that wasn't really that good. I blew my points out of the water over a crummy piece of pie. :( I know, I know, I know better. It's just been a rough week.
Hopefully, tomorrow we'll get our son all moved into his new apt. It would've been soooo easy if it hadn't been in the monsoon season.

How is everyone?????????

Hi Everyone,

Where is everyone? It's been really quiet around here. Please post when you can because we miss you!! At least let us know you are ok.

Tina, I'm so excited about the partial knee replacement. The cool thing about partial replacement is that they will go in and only repair what is damaged. No muscles are cut so the recovery time will be much quicker. They will send a Physical therapist out to the house to work with me and to remove the staples. I think that's pretty neat..... instead of me going there. I'll be off work for a couple of weeks, so I'm thinking around the Christmas holidays. Here is a website about it and where I am going.... www.tcjr.com

I'm really struggling with my weight loss. I'm good for a part of a day and then blow it. I know I can do this!!!

Hope you get your son moved Tina! The weather here is damp and chilly. It actually feels like fall .... for the time being. You know Texas so it won't last long.

I'm here! I'm here!

Busy lives we live!!! Thursday night was a parade in town, Friday was the last home football game (we won in overtime, and we may be going to the playoffs, haven't heard yet), Satuday morning we left at 5;30 for the Univ. of Michigan football game. We've been home about an hour.

The game was neat even though Michigan lost. It was the 6th largest crowd they had ever had in that stadium 110,569 (give or take a few! lol)

I was more interested in the bands. The percussion section was so awesome! Tim was sitting on the edge of his seat watching them.

We stayed overnight at a town about an hour north of Ann Arbor, there is an outlet mall there. We hit the mall last night. This morning we got up and drove into Frankenmuth. It is an old German town with LOTS OF SHOPS!!!!!!! The world's largest Christmas store is also there (Bronner's), but we didn't go to it. We've been there many times.

Wanted to check in with everyone, and now I need to get the suitcase unpacked, and read the paper. Then I'm going to bed!!!

Have a great week everyone!!

Good evening,

Yea!!! We got our son all moved into his new apt. It didn't rain today!!!!! The men carried the last boxes of stuff and I swept and vacuumed the old apt. It was kind of sad leaving it since it wwas his very first apartment. We got all the new boxes settled in the new apt. Then, our son treated us to a Pizza Hut pizza. Yummy!
Tomorrow I start back OP. journaling, drinking water, exercising, the whole thing.

Tammy--you had a busy weekend. I'm glad you enjoy that game. I don't think I could've stayed out of that Christmas store. I'm in the mood for holidays now.

Susan, thank you for explaining more about your upcoming surgery. It's amazing what they can do now to cut down on incisions, pain and time off work. I know that you'll be glad to get rid of your pain and be able to walk around normally.
Keep us informed as to when you'll have it done.

How is everybody else?

Sorry I haven't written in a couple of days. I'm been busy and this time change is NOT agreeing with me. I'm falling asleep on the couch early and getting up way to early!!! It has to stop.

Well, the big day is Dec. 11. I finally scheduled it. I have to go to a class and all of the pre op stuff over the Thanksgiving holidays. I should be able to return shortly after Christmas break, like new. However, I'm having a kinds of weird emotions... one minute I'm happy, the next I'm scared and at times feeling sorry for myself. Not sure what that's all about but I do know TOM is just around the corner too, so I'm sure it all plays a part. Be THANKFUL you don't have to be around me right now. :D

I'm taking tomorrow off to go to San Antonio for the babies batispm. Of course... I'm the Godmother and quiet proud of the fact. It will be nice getting to be a home. Mom will spoil me some.

Have a great day! (I'll be in a better mood next time I write.)

I agree about the time change thing! Also, going away last weekend really wore me out. I'd like to get some rest this weekend, but I don't think it will happen.

Band plays at state contest tomorrow night. Saturday I am chaperoning the band to the football playoffs. It is a 3 hour bus ride one way. Talk about comfortable. We'll be riding on a luxurious school bus! lol

Not sure what is planned for Sunday, but I'm sure there is something. Always is.

No loss this morning, but no gain either. That's a good thing.

Tina, that has to be a relief getting him moved. And Pizza Hut pizza? Yummy!!

Susan, glad you have it scheduled. You'll be up and running marathons in no time!!

Take care everyone!!

How was Halloween at everyone's houses? We had lots of kids this year. I think someone down our street had a big party and they all came by. They were all dressed really cute. Then, my great-nephews and neice came by. The boys are 5 now and really into getting candy.

Susan, You can come down and be around me any time. Congratulations on being a God Mother.

Tammy, you better slow down, girl.

Sis---Happy Anniversary!!! which one is it?

I hope you have a blast on your trip.
Maybe you'll get some exercise and that will help conteract any extra eating.

How was y'all's Halloween? Did you eat the left-overs? :)
I threw ours out. I know it was a blow to my husband because he loves Almond Joys. But, it had to be done. Right!

I hope everyone can make it through this Friday. The weekend is just a few hours away.

Susan--- are you hanging in there? ;)

Seems like everyone is busy busy busy and boy can I understand that. Every fall I seem to end up going to work, coming home and do work stuff, sleeping. This year I am attempting to keep going to acquacise and walking.

This year they added Kickboxing aquacise....Im sure I earn 7-9 points after one of those workouts.

While I am still doing all the right things , weight loss has slowed down......I know I shouldnt complain but Im an impatient person. October was better. I find its a struggle to eat at the bottom of my scale now like I have from the very beginning.

Anyone check out the ww site. A while back there was a great chocolate chocolate cheesecake recipe. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM...it was great...but I dont think you benefit much when you eat the entire batch in 2 days. LOL

Hopefully Im back for good. Nice to see you all are doing well.

Did everyone have a good weekend? We went to East Texas to see my best friend and husband. She met her husband over the internet. Thankfully, he wasn't a mass murderer--he's a good guy.
It rained all weekend but that didn't stop us from having fun. They watch what they eat so it wasn't hard to stay within point range. We did splurge and use some frozen berries they'd picked and made a cobbler and serve it with Healthy Choice ice cream. Ooooh, that was so good.

What's going on with everyone?

Hi Everyone,

Well, I was in San Antonio for the weekend. I had a great time but ate and drank too much. It was fun seeing my family. We stayed up late and laughed about everything. It's great being with family!!!

One of my friends and I are going to start helping each other and holding each other accountable. We eat lunch together so it will make it much easier. We went and weighed in the nurse's office today. We are going to weigh each week. The nurse is going to track our weight for us. We made her promise not to tell anyone. We plan to be at least 10 pounds lighter by
Christmas.

Tina, it sounds like you had a blast this weekend.

have a great evening.
Susan

Tammy
11-05-2002, 09:51 PM
Susan, that is great that you have someone with you to help keep you accountable! Might be something that I should think about with a couple women at school.

Our Halloween candy is still in a jar on the kitchen counter. I have been great about staying out of it. I have had some, but not much. We weren't home for Trick or Treating, but we rarely get anyone other than relatives where we live. No sidewalks out our way, and the houses in town are much closer to each other so the kids can get much more goodies!

Band contest and football game were fun over the weekend. The band received a 2 (excellent) at contest. I would have preferred a 1 (superior), but there were only three 1's given in the 20 bands that we saw that evening. I don't know what happened after we left, but I thought the judges were being rather stingy. Oh well. Next year is another year.

Tim is going out for the freshman basketball team. Cuts will be Thursday. There are 13 boys going out, and the coach is only keeping 10. Tim is positive that he will be cut. He has almost made himself sick over it because he wants to make the team so badly. It won't be the end of the world, but a couple of his good friends will make it for sure, and he wants to be with them.

Enough for now. Take care all!!

Tina

It's Thursday--already. My weeks seem to be flying by for some reason.
Susan, I'm glad you had such a blast in San Antonio. I'm getting hungry for some Mexican food by the River. :)

Tammy, How did Tim do today? Please write and let us know.

Kady, I've never ever made a cheesecake but that recipe sounds good.

Sis, how was your anniversary getaway??????

It finally stopped raining here. The sun looks so good. We found a leak in our little bathroom. It (the bathroom) was added onto the house before we bought it. Larry will climb a laddar and look up there to see what's going on. It's hopefully just a shingle gone or maybe a little hole in a shingle. We will have to cut out and replace some sheetrock board in the ceiling. Thrill!!!!!

I hope all the new people on the weigh-in thread will come over here to post, too.

And, I hope everyone will post this week---hey, it's almost over.

Tina,
It was really nice! :) We look forward to these 2 days alone every year. We even got to take a 2 mile walk along a nature trail. We do that every year too. This year was a bit cold. I think I've gained 3 or 4 lbs over the last 2 weeks with b-days and halloween and anniversary. :) Oh well time to take the lumps and start over. Have a great day....Sis

Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing well. The weeks do seem to fly by. I'm not sure where they all go! I just learned that a girl I went to high school is dying of an inoperable cancer. It really hit me hard. It made me stop and appreciate life and thankful for all that I have... bad knee and all. Make sure that you stop and count your blessings daily, we never know when it will be your last.

TIna, the sun finally come out here too. It was great seeing it.

Sis, glad taht you had a great anniversary weekend. sounds like you had fun.

Tammy, how is your busy life?

Have a great weekend.

Hey gang!! Basketball cuts were Friday instead of Thursday. Tim made the Freshmen Team because they moved a couple kids up to the junior varsity. Otherwise, he would not have made it. He is excited, but feels very bad about the 2 boys that didn't make it. When he had practice at 7:30 this morning (Saturday!!), I don't think he was as excited about making it. lol

I've been in a weird mood lately where I don't want to do anything exercise-wise. Anyone else get like that? I've been moody and crying. It's been this way since the time change a couple weeks ago. Maybe once I get into the time change, I'll be better????? Winter is always a tough time for me especially around the holidays, so that could be the problem too.

Susan, the brother-in-law of a friend of mine just passed away this week. He was 33. He had intestinal surgery of some kind last weekend, and his heart stopped on Monday, the day he was to be released from the hospital. The entire family is in shock. It does make you put things in perspective, doesn't it.

Well, I need to get to bed. I haven't been to church the past 3 Sundays, I think I'd better go tomorrow. Of course, 2 weeks ago I was in Michigan and that would have been a long drive that morning.

Take care everyone.

Hi,

It was a beautiful day here. The sun was out and it was just a little windy. I thought about raking leaves but decided it was a losing situation. With the wind, everyone's leaves were blowing in other yards. :)

Tammy, I'm so happy for Tim. He deserved getting on the team. You try to spend as much time in the sun as possible. Maybe tomorrow you can stay outside for a long time. I've heard that helps with the time change and our innards. Try it!!!!!

Susan, I'm so sorry about the girl you knew in school.

Kady-- keep up the good work.

Sis-- have you recovered from your fun trip?

In spite of wind tomorrow, I'm going to get my exercise raking leaves.

Hi ya'll,

Well, it was a beautiful day here yesterday! Today looks like a repeat. It was windy, but I love the wind. I came in from being outside last night with wind burn just like I did as a kid. Somethings never change :)

Tammy, give Tim our congratulations!:cp: You have a go getter there! He seems to have a big heart too being concerned about the 2 who didn't make it. I never understood why the will cut just a couple of kids, I personally think they should find a place for them... Now how is that for changing the rules?

Tammy, I agree with Tina about getting some sun. I don't like the time change either and last week was a hard one for me. I think we all get like that from time to time. So try and be outside some and do something nice for yourself! Take a bubble bath, read a book..... just do something special JUST FOR YOU!

Tina, so what's new with you? Is your son all settled in his new apartment? San Antonio was great. I ate and partied too much! But, I don't do it often and my entire family was there, so we lived it up! The Mexican food is the best there!

Nothing new here! Can't believe that Thanksgiving is in a couple of weeks. Have a great Sunday.

Susan :balloons:

Hello,
Tammy, did you make it to church yesterday? ;)

Our weather just couldn't have been better this weekend. It was the first weekend in quite a while that it wasn't raining, we weren't moving our son, we didn't have to do a thing!!!!
I got out and raked leaves late yesterday afternoon. It was hard work--don't laugh--it was.

Our son is all moved in. I'm still trying to figure out some kind of easy curtain to go on his 2 livingroom windows. Maybe I'll just drape something over the tops. (He really doesn't want anything on them but is indulging his mother's decorating sense.) I finally found some cheap towel holder rings. I had gone to all the stores except Big K-Mart. There I found some that were only $2.69 a piece. I got them!!!!

So what's up with everyone????? I'm back on the WW wagon today. I haven't written anything down but am keeping my journal in my head. I've used 10 pts. so far. Oh, oh, oh, I bought the Burger King 99 cent chili today. It's 4 pts. and is almost too much. It was so hot (fire & pepper) that I drank lots of water. Try it if you like chili.

I'm fixing a new recipe for supper.
You use zuchinni, fresh mushrooms, canned tomatoes w/ basil & onions, and seasonings. You cook it all together. 0 pts. A friend that's not even on WW made it up. Yummy!!!!!

Now your eyes are tired of reading.

I did make it to church on Sunday!! Felt funny because quite a few of the older people came up and asked where I had been and if I was OK. They are all so sweet.

Saturday was nice here, but Sunday afternoon there were major storms around here. I don't know how many tornado touchdowns there were north of here, but more than zero is too many. It was nasty here, but we didn't get the worst of the storms. At 4:00 in the afternoon, it was pitch black outside. It was so creepy, because the wind wasn't blowing at all. The trees were still, and we knew that storm was out there somewhere. We had our gear ready to head to the basement.

Bob and Tim have been working on the leaves in our yard. We have a leaf sweeper that we hook onto the back of the riding mower. It is so much nicer than raking. We have too many trees!!!!! We bought a leaf blower this year too, so it's alot easier to do the spoutings. They just walk around on the roof and blow off the leaves.

After basketball practice tonight, Tim is going to my aunt's house with the mower and sweeper to do her yard. He'll have to work fast because fall sports awards thing is at 7;00 tonight. Busy, busy, busy.

Tina, I giggled about your son not being concerned about curtains. That's always the first thing that I want to do is get curtains up when I've moved. Even in college, my roomies and I got the curtains up and the beds made before we did anything else.

That recipe sounds great! I may give it a try. I think we all would like it. The M&M's sounded good too though! lol

That's all for now!

Hi Friends,

It has been extremely busy at school. Hopefully, I'll get a new teacher hired to replace the one leaving soon. Her last day is next Friday. I will have to wait on my knee surgery if I don't have someone hired.

Pat's been a little on edge lately. He suffers from depression but refuses to recognize it. He does take meds for it but of course he always says it for his headaches. :) Hope he snaps out of it soon. He doesn't like it a little if I get off kilter a bit which makes it hard.

Tammy, it's great that you have a basement. Here in Texas, basements are a rare thing. I think it would be great to have one. Very few houses have storm cellars either. I want one in our next house... that is if we ever build again.

I have to laugh. My husband hates curtains. It was the first thing that I did too. I made some temporary curtains until I got some that I liked. I had to have something up on the windows. Now my den & kitchen don't have any because we have a huge window with a great view. (I live on 11 acres and there are about 200 in front of ours that we overlook) It's a beautiful view. Now if we get a lot of traffic out here, they will be put up.

Have a great evening. Thanks for always being there!! I really value your friendship!!

Happy Friday

Yesterday I got the leaf vacuum out and did the yard. It looked so good. I say "looked" because the wind started up and here came the leaves again.
That's okay because it's a lot better than it was. Last night I was so sore. I wonder how many calories I burned????? I was out there for 1 1/2 hours.

Everyone have a great weekend. Does anyone have any plans? I would like to go see Santa Clause 2. Is that silly or what! I like Tim Allen. My husband really doesn't want to see it but will indulge me. He's so sweet.

Drink that water,

It's Movie Review time---
Santa Clause 2 was geared for little children only. That's my opinion. The first one was for everyone and was very good. I was really disappointed in this movie. All the kids around us enjoyed it. I'm just glad that we went to an early show and didn't spend $7.00 a piece.

It's been a very relaxing Saturday. We had great weather. We didn't do much of anything that required a lot of exercise or mental activity.

Susan, is your hair graying? I have some gray hairs here and there in mine. My husband says it adds character. His is black but is thinning on the top. At least mine isn't thinning. :D

I've done pretty well weight-wise today. I didn't count pts.

Tina,
I'm completely gray. I've been turning gray since I was 17. I've been totally gray since I was in my early 30's. I started coloring it when I was in my 20's/ My brothers laugh because I color my hair and have no gray..... I just say it's because I'm so much younger than they are. :D

Thanks for the movie review. I'll wait until it's on tv.

Hair---

I guess I got my father's genes. He was 50 something when he died. He had a full head of black, wavy hair. Mine is wavy, too. My mother's hair started graying early. My sister gets highlights put on hers so I don't know what it really looks like. :)

Everyone have a great Sunday. We are going to try another congregation in the morning. They have an early worship service. It's supposed to be only 40 in the morning, I don't know how early I'll want to get out of bed.
