Default What am I doing wrong??

I've been doing MRC for 37 days now. My start weight was 184 and I'm currently sitting at 171.4. So about 13 lbs down. My husband has been doing it for the same amount of time, he's down 34lbs. The past week and a half, I've actually been trending upward from 169.8 and he's steadily losing. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong. I haven't changed anything, except maybe adding a cup of decaf coffee at night, sweetened with sweet and low. But he's added that as well. I have no excpectation of losing nearly as much as him, but I feel like I should at least be LOSING. In my mind, I know I'm getting healthier, making healthier choices, but in my gut I'm depriving myself of foods I oh so enjoy and gaining weight. What gives??? Anyone else been through a similar situation and if so, how did you overcome it??

I should note that I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease (about 3 weeks ago). I thought being on meds might actually help increase my weightloss but nope!

I think you answered your own question. With your thyroid being compromised right now is likely not working in your favor.

It will take about 3 months for the meds to really work. When my DR. was trying to stabilize my thyroid I had bloodwork every 3 months the dosage adjusted then.

I think 13 pounds in a little over a month is pretty good! Don't be so hard on yourself and don't compare your weight loss with your husband's!

Thank you! I am definitely not knocking that 13lbs. Proud of it. And I'm super proud of the hubs. It just seems like I was losing steady until I started taking the Levothyroxine. I talked to my endo's nurse and she said it should be the opposite, I should be losing more with the meds. Talking with her made remember that I started taking MRC-6 about the same day as Levo so I'm wondering if they're not reacting with each other. I'm going to cut out the MRC-6 and see how that goes. I go for more bloodwork in mid-October so hopefully they'll be able to see if the meds are working by then.

We went to weigh in at lunch. From last Friday, I'm up 1.5lbs, the hubs is down 4.5lbs. I hate men!

At my center they have a poster about "drug muggers" which shows the different vitamins we take & the different prescription drugs that may have some sort of reactions when taken together. I know there is also a book about this. Maybe you should look into it. Hope it helps. Keep up the good work!!!

It could have nothing to do with the medicine and just be a) your first plateau b) timed with your body's natural cycle. Within a given month, I always have a week of no weight loss.

Hope it's something simple like that and not something more complex. 13 lbs is fantastic, great work!

Be patient, although I know it is so hard at times! I'm losing slower than most on this forum or at my work. About an average of 7lbs a month. But it adds up, every single pound. I'm at 35 lbs lost and so motivated to keep losing the additional 35lbs I have to lose! Hang in there!!

Sorry if this is personal, but does your doctor know you are on the MRC diet? DOes he/she know what it is (in terms of extrememly low calorie and extrememly low carb?) Both harsh deficits and low carbing *can* wreak havoc on thyroids and hormone levels.....

I went in to my center friday to WI & looked at that poster I talked about. It showed that their corti-trim was the one that could have some affect with thyroid medication. Not sure if you are taking that or not, but if you are you could check into that. Hope it helps.

Thanks to everyone for your helpful words!

I decided to stop taking the MRC-6, just to see if it'd help at all. It was the only med from MRC that I was taking. I'm not sure if that was the culprit but I'm down to 166 this morning. So 6ish lbs since I first posted. I'm thinking the meds the dr. gave me for my thyroid are finally starting to kick in because I've noticed a few other physiological changes, as well. Needless-to-say, I'm super excited.

Thanks again to everyone who posted!
