OK, let's go everybody.

I am really going to focus on more protein in my diet and more cardio this week. i've been reading my book on "lifting for women" and am re-energized about this food thing.

Right now, off to the gym to boogie to some latin music.

I'm with you on the mini meal idea !!!!
If I keep the protein high also that helps even more.
Sunday morning I had a cheese stick & 100 calorie pack of almonds
and was not hungry for 4 hours...

I am not sure if the protein keeps the hunger at bay or the lack of carbs but
it sure helps me ....

Hey Chicks! I haven't forgotten all of you. My life has just run me ragged. I'm off to JC this morning. I succumbed to all my bad habits at the ballpark on Saturday and I've not had enough water to flush.

Hi All, sorry I put the date wrong..obviously it's the 20th today.

Nancy, everything I read says that protein keeps hunger at bay. In addition, I read about a study comparing a lot of diets and it said clearly that the more protein you take in, compared to fats and carbs, the more likely you are to lose weight. This was not necessarily supporting the extreme Atkins approach, but stating that no matter what approach, the more protein the better.

I need more of that today, already!

Hi Ladies:)

Went out for pizza last night and it wasn't funny getting on the scale this morning. We 're looking for a decent movie to see,but not playing in our mediate area. No feeling well,having some kind of insomnia for the last two day,Sat night I couldn't breath and last night I was afraid to sleep,thinking it would happen again. Going to take a sleeping pill tonight,and if that doesn't work, I will call the doctor for an appointment.

Went our to walmart and bought power bar and protein shakes from Atkins for my mid morn & day snacks.Had string cheese around 10AM and will have the shake around 3.

RHONDA-Thanks, for the new pages.I think your correct to put more protein into your diet. That's what I'm aiming to do.Started this morning and I 'm not hungry.


NANCY-Thanks it can hurt I tried all methods and I think according to Dr Oz telling one of the woman on one of the shows that he believes that's the way to go.He always helping people with there diets,so many it will work for me.

I gained a pound. I'm blaming hormones and that DELICIOUS kosher hot dog with mustard that I ate at the ballpark. And....the bites of popcorn.....and cubano sandwhich.....and pizza. BLT's DO add up.

I'm on program and starting a new week. Missing you all. It should calm down soon for me.

Rhonda, thank you for the new pages. I agree with what you said about protein. You're going to shed those extra pounds quickly now.

Maryann, I think you're doing a good thing, too, eating more protein. You and Rhonda should see good results quickly.

Vickie, it sounds like you and Jim had a good outing at the ballpark. I'm glad you did. I think every now and then we need to let go and have fun. One pound isn't much. You'll get it off quickly.

I'm chugging along. My next wi is October 6. Well, I have an appointment with my cardiologist next week, and I'm guessing he'll have me step on the iron monster. He usually does. (He's the one who said for me to lose a pound a week and come back in a year. Well, the year's about up and I'm coming back. :yikes:

I ate 1400 calories, more or less equally divided among fats, carbs and protein. Still need more protein and the fat was inched up because of cheese. I thought it was low fat, but no it was low sodium instead. I also had 1 T of PB which really has a lot of fat, good fat, but still fat.

Tomorrow is another day.

Hey chickies! I just got back from Bible study, and it's late, so I won't stay long.

Rhonda, I will try to post a picture of my most recent painting this week. It is almost finished, so I'll snap a picture of it on Wednesday. Wow! Your arms look awesome. I'm envious!

Sandra, thanks for your encouraging words. I have been trying to stay away from all wheat and milk products. They both irritate my stomach, and I feel so much better when I avoid them. I will try to add more protein to my diet this week, and see if get any results.

Good Morning Ladies :)

Did have a good afternoon yesterday I fell on my patio step and I bruised my left side of the waist area.TG I have fatty tissues there that I didn't break a bone of something. Its scary living alone,my sister told me that she & I learned very good listen to carry my cell phone at all times. I have a case that has a clip for me to wear it on my slacks. We'll do that in the future.Hope I will be able to join & go on my walking tour tomorrow with the Girls.

Other than that I had a wonderful day,the weather up here is very comfortable comparing that we had this summer. I slept until 8:30 this morning.

VICKIE-Sorry:sorry: about your pound it will quickly come off as I believe that it the sodium that are in the hot dogs.


SANDRA- I hope that your correct as I eating low carb bread that I bake for sandwich and now that I'm adding the protein I feel less hungry.I not going real low on the carbs like I did the last time I adding veggies & fruits to my menus. I lost 2 lbs from the HIGH CARBY PIZZA that I had this Sunday.I love :love: your terminology of the scale[iron :dracula: monster]i do feel the same as you do when I get on[physician scale] it. Some how my DGS thought it was cute to jump on it several time and it think the balance bean is a little off right now.I tried to adjust it but no such luck. Have to have a man to come in to work on the mechanism of the scale.


RHONDA-I'm on the a 1500[30pts] calorie per day and have a 264 cal per meal.Sometimes it works but at the end of the day it does add to 1500. I buy the Sargento's :cheese:cheese that has reduced cal cheese.

SLOANE-I'm going to bible study :book2: also, but were heading to the end of the 52nd week. Right now people are signing up for a life story book and I;m not interested so until they start the bible study again,after the new year I will be going to a yoga :yoga: or a tai ji class instead to loosen up my neck/shoulder muscles.Are you allergic to wheat or milk,I'd go to the doctor have those tested but than again that's me, my dd stays a way from milk prods[yogurts cream etc]but she does eat cheese without any problems.


Have to get my laundry and other chore done, have a great day

We've had an exciting day. Went out in a lake--boat took on water. Curtis' cellphone is dead. Mine is on it's 2nd life. The rest of the day wasn't much better--so what have I done? I bought a lottery ticket. Drawing is tonight.

Sloan, I want to see the photo of your artwork, too. Please post asap.

Rhonda, I ate too many cashews today. They're healthy but I had too many. Guess I could have done worse. My nerves have been shot.

You know, it is very hard to eat only 30 grams of fat!! I had 50 today and I worked so hard. I'm even eating lf cottage cheese and I don't like cottage cheese :tantrum: I even ate cottage cheese, tuna and tomato. I did do better on the ratio of fat, carbs and protein.

Yes, Sandra, it could have been Snickers! I bought some Slim Fast, hoping that it wouldn't have heavy metals in it! I'm sorry that your nerves are shot. You are retired!!

Hi Ladies:)

Went on my walking tour with the ladies we went along the beach via the bike path and wow was it windy.We walked for almost an hour and moderate speed.and than to Spurs Garden and walked there for another 15 mins. I'm really tired and the muscles in my legs are aching also.

Just put my wash away,going to get some dusting and vacuum cleaning done and than I'm heading for the couch and take a nap or two.

RHONDA-I learned the hard way,and will never be without my cell phone again.

SANDRA-I was lucky this time around,so for now on I'll make sure the cell phone is charged and with me at all times.

Hey chickies. I am exhausted! I had a presentation at school today for our department, left school and picked up lunch for the presentation meeting, taught my classes, went to painting class, and now I'm home. I am posting two of my pics. The one of the branches is not finished, but I plan to have it done next week. Hope you like 'em!!

Great work, Sloan. I cannot paint at all, but might try again someday. Tonight's drawing class was a little easier on me and I didn't feel like a klutz!

I had 2 eggs for breakfast and 1/2 an avocado. That in itself was almost all of the fat calories I could have for the day, so I went over 30 grams. What a challenge. And, still not getting enough protein....even with the dreaded cottage cheese. This is quite the challenge.

My workout was great with Todd, after not seeing him for a week. I got up to leg pressing 480 pounds, 3 sets of 6 reps. Very difficult, but I did it. I can now also do incline chest presses with 30 pound bar bells, 3 sets of 12 reps. My pressing up is a bit shaky and I need some guidance on the final reps, but that is a lot of weight for an old chick!

Good Morning Ladies:)

Another day that's going to be fine for walking ,but I have so many things to do today I don't think I will have time to walk along the beach.If not I will use my bike and do some spinning while watching a computer dvr.

Nothing new,This morning I'm going to my bible study,where in the bulletin there's going to be another walking group being set up for the fall. I not going to miss that as I love walking with a group than doing it alone.

Had a 2 rev roll with lite breaky sausages with peppers & onion for breakfast.

You gals are so talented,so proud of you, I'm lucky I can knit things like hats & scarfs.

Maryann, a walk on the beach sounds like a lot of fun and good exercise to me.

We're waiting to go to "Grandparents' Day" to have lunch with our 2nd Grade DGD. Life is good.

For a few days we had 6 hummingbirds. This morning as well as the last few days, we've been seeing 2. I'm guessing the males have headed further south. We did thoroughly enjoy our few days with 6 and am now cherishing our days with 2. We know these 2 will soon leave--but some will return next spring. They amaze me with their routines.

My eating is fine. Yesterday I had 3 meals with no snacking. I hope to do as well today.

So where are all our Chickies? I hope you're all out there having a great, OP! day. I'll be back later.

Good Morning:

This is what I did yesterday for my 65th :hb:

had a facial, manicure and pedicure
had a (small) hot fudge sundae
had a full body massage
took a nap
ate a wonderful meal at a fancy place with my DH
took a mile walk with the dog and went to sleep

Great day!


I also decided that my next step in the body reclamation is to consult with a professional nutritionist. I can get into clothes that I wore when I was 12 pounds lighter, so that is good. But, my next step is to get rid of more of the body fat. Eating as close to no more than 30 grams of fat a day has been helping, but I'm going to go get professional advice. That's my present to myself.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Looks like a cloudy day,for our PB Club day. Hope it doesn't rain as I wasn't planing to bring all my gear with me. Had my hair cut yesterday,without blowing drying so this morning it looks so flat.Is the there a way to make it fluffy?????

SANDRA-I though my friend Alice and I were fast walkers but these guys are real walkers its hard to keep up to them.

SLOANIE-We have good weather for beach walking all the way up until November.That's the reason we joined the walking group for 6 weeks.

RHONDA-Sound like you did have a great birthday pampering yourself but your correct in doing so and having fun,that what retired life is all about. That fantastic that you can get into to clothes you wore 12 year ago,I been in size 14 that about of years and will never got down. But if you see the reason we are so fat Dr Oz speak about Obesogens in our foods & water that made is to into obesity.

Hello folks. I just joined here today. I've been on Weight Watchers for the last 14 months doing the Momentum Plan. I have decided that I want to try the Simply Filling technique for awhile and see how I like it. I'll be looking for lots of Core/SF recipes and I know I'll have lots of questions along the way.

We are good group of women and we are very supportive of one another, as you'll be able to tell if you have been reading our posts. We value one another's journey, "simply filling" or not.

Maryann, thanks for the link. Our food and water are both full of totally unnecessary and unhealthy things. I think I can get into clothes I wore 12 pounds ago because my body is shifting with all of the workouts. I still need to lose more fat. Period.

Hello chickies. Been awhile since I posted here. I teeter between South Beach and Core.

I have gained 25 lbs in the last year or so. Why do I do that to myself? Hoping to get back on track. I think my main problem was I quit exercising. I started back on my treadmill and have really watched what I'm eating. 2 days down and many more to follow.

Good to see many familiar names. Do any of you attend WW meetings? I'm in KY right now, but soon will be going to Florida for the Winter. I know the one meeting place I attended in Florida was overly crowded and I got nothing from the meetings. I may search a new location.

Good to be back.

Nothing new,except I'm going to the movies this afternoon to see Wall Street:Money Never Sleeps.W-I today and I Maintained this week. Only have a few more days until my Sept Challenge is over and than I will go right into the Oct Challenge.

RHONDA-Your welcome,Whenever I find something interest to bring to this thread,I'll do so. My body weight shifted also,it went up to my overs sized boobs,now I'm wearing X lg tops and Lg slacks.

PAM-:welcome2:Welcome Back to the thread,I think I remember you way back when.Sorry about your 25 lb gain,its scary when that happens. I was on the beach for a a number of years did well on Phase 1 but once i went on Phase 2 and trying the carbs again I would gain what I lost in Phase 1 so I left that way of eating.

Hi there, Chickies. Sorry about being MIA. I've been extra-busy the last 2 days. Grandparents' Day was special to a large number of grandparents and grandkids. Curtis and I both attended and we cherish every second. Our grand was beaming. We had lunch, had our photo taken together, then shopped at the book fair. Lots of memories built by all who were there. Kids who didn't have anyone "visiting" with them, got to eat lunch with their teacher and watch a movie. In the past it was very sad seeing some little ones sitting without their grandparents while others were. I think eating in a different location with their teacher helped. I hope so anyway.

Rhonda, your special day sounds wonderful. And your birthday treat to yourself? It's a great idea. I hope you can share some of your new knowledge with us. But if you can't, I understand.

Maryann, were you able to take your walk? Also, how was the movie? I like your new avatar. As to hair--mine goes flat, too, especially if I don't blow it dry and use a gel. I'm trying to let mine grow now and it's not in a good stage. :yikes: Life goes on.

Nancy, just hop back onto that wagon. You'll get those 3 lbs off soon.

Sloan, I had a video editing class yesterday. Loved it!!!

Hey chickies! Today is my birthday, and I've been surprisingly sad. My morning started with a call from my mom. She sang "Happy Birthday" to me by herself for the first time that I can remember (throughout my adult life, my parents have called me very early on the morning of my birthday to sing to me). Since her call, I have been on the verge of tears most of the day. My sister took me out for brunch, and my DD and her BF had us over for dinner. I enjoyed both of those things, but I have also been sad. This grief thing is the pits :cry:

Over slept and I was a mad rush to get to church this morning,so now I'm back home relaxing. This afternoon 2 of my friends & I are going out for pizza.This time I going to eat 1/2 of the 7" pie.

SANDRA-I can imagine the surprise of your grandchildren see you there in their classes.That how it was when I was down last Christmas and I went to two of there classes. I missed Grandparents Day I as live in a different state than they do. The walking tour goes all over our town the first two times we went on either end of the bike trail.One hr around trip. Oh you MUST see Wall Street: Money Doesn't Sleep. I gave it a 9,one of my friends told me that a rated it too high,just because she heard the critics saying it was really good.Thanks I usually don't take a good photo so I'm very careful of what I put on my avatar.


SLOANE:hb: HAPPY BIRTHDAY and many many more:hb:I'm sorry that you ad a bad day only hearing your mom sing to you,but I believe he was right there next to your mom when she song to you.I was disappointed that my Leo wasn't around for my 70th either.Remember he'll always be in your heart & Right next to you.Sending my :hug:

Sandra and I just saw each other with our DHs for breakfast. It was brief, but great fun anyway. My DH and I were in their area for a joint high school reunion and it was great fun too. I had bar-b-que and to heck with it all!

Hey chickies! Today is a better day. My sister and I went to Pottery Barn for a decorating class today, and that was fun. I'm home now and working on my Bible study stuff for tomorrow. Being a leader is busy, but so far it is going well. I had been praying for a long time for God to give me a place to serve, so here I am leading a BSF group leader. I know there will be blessings ahead, but right now I'm nervous about doing a good job and being a blessing to the ladies in my group.

I really appreciate your kind words and loving support. I knew I hung around here for a good reason :D. You chickies are awesome.

Maryann, thanks for the tip on the movie. My dh just watched the first "Wall Street" movie on cable today.

Sandra, the video editing class sounds interesting. We have graphic design and web page design at our school, but nothing like video editing. Sounds fun!

Rhonda, I'm glad you got to visit with Sandra. I don't know about you, but my tummy doesn't feel so good after eating the "happy birthday" food. I need another watermelon fast :lol:

Welcome to the new chickies! I'm not usually so grim, but my dad passed away in June, so I'm still new to the "grief thing".

Sloan, it's ironic that you mention a fast. I have been very busy eating lately! This week I plan to eat normally on the days that I lift weights, and do a fast of some kind on the days that I don't. I think that I will get some really good organic, fat free chicken broth and drink that and have a bit of fruit or juice on those "fasting days." This has worked for me before and I want to try it again.

I thoroughly enjoyed our visit with Rhonda and Doyle this morning. Girls, Rhonda looks great! I'm thinking she was making her former women classmates think about joining a gym.

Maryann, I will most likely wait to see the movie on DVD. I don't get to the theater often. Maybe I will if I have a girls' day out soon. So far, though, we don't have any plans.

Got back yesterday after a wonderful time. We didn't realize how much we needed a break. Our friends took us out and about and we visited places we hadn't seen for years. Neither of us will be weighing until next week!
