penguin - someone at work sprained their wrist and can't count cash because of it, so Josh has to do her job until the 21st. I did end up getting to sleep in this morning, it was soooooo nice :D Glad to see that scale moving down again!

fitkristi - you are on a whooshing roll!!

Coondocks - you would definitely be retaining some water, you'll get it off soon I'm sure! The 4 hours of sleep definitely would NOT help! The chocolate is, uhm.. not chocolately? I don't love chocolate myself, I'll have it when I have PMS but thats about it. But these, OMG, caramel, pecans, salty with a little chocolate, oh my! :p I am going to make food my priority right now, I am fairly active with my job, and once I get into a good routine I'll do some structured exercise.

Kukkie - yahooo!!! So glad to see the scale moving down for you :)

Vixsin - those are some great whooshes you are experiencing! :carrot:

Ona - it's worth a lot ;) Thanks for the advice, it was just what I needed, I think I was trying to bite off a little too much, yah know? I mean I've followed SB for 3.5 months, but maybe I'm just not ready for exercise just yet. I trust that you'll get there, you know what to do! This is just a temporary gain!

I'm back from Alaska and ladies it was FAB!

I did pretty darn good with the eating too. I had a few more indulgences than I planned.. like ice cream. But, over all, I didn't over eat.. made good choices and enjoyed the company and scenery more than the food. My boy did a great job on his first plane, train and boat rides ;)

I need to catch up with you gals!

I think my subconscious kept me off the scale this morning. Will report back tomorrow :)

Thanks Diana. I feel good about my onderland goal by the ball. I'm like you, I think I will make it or be really close. I picked up my ball gown yesterday and it's too big. I knew I would need to have it taken in some, but my heart sank when I tried it on. It's a lot too big and it's only gonna get bigger as I get smaller. I tried the smaller size on again and it's still small enough that I'm afraid to exchange my too big dress for the smaller dress (although it only took one person to zip it up this time :) ). I have my fingers crossed that they don't sell the smaller dress so I can go back in a couple of weeks and try it again. I should have taken another picture of me in the smaller dress and compared to the one taken two weeks ago. Here's a picture of me in the bigger dress - it gaps about 2 inches away from my body on each side (I have it tucked under my arms). It wouldn't even stay up without holding onto it.

If you're going to have it altered, buy the smaller dress. When I got married, the seamstress told me that if I was between two dress sizes, to buy the smaller one, because it's easier to alter up than down. Well, maybe you should check with the store and/or the person doing the alterations - but wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses have enough extra fabric to let them out, so I would assume a lot fo formal dresses do. She told me the fit would be better if she had to let it out rather than take it in.

Both the sales person and the store manager talked me into the bigger dress. They said it would be easier to alter down and if I didn't lose weight in the right places then the smaller dress would never fit. The ball is 7 weeks away and the larger dress is already too big, but I worry the smaller dress will always be too small (does that make sense?). Here is a picture of me in the smaller dress taken 2 weeks ago (please ignore the awful tan line). You can see around the top and by my arms how tight it is (pushing up the fat) and it's tight through the stomach. My sister is gonna be in town this weekend - I think I'll have her go with me and see me in the smaller dress in person for a second opinion.

Kris -- If they are able to do a small alteration to give you a teensy bit more room around your chest, I would definitely go with the smaller dress. You still have 7 weeks to lose a bit more weight, so who knows, you may not even need the alteration, but I'd ask just to be safe. It looks great on you!

Bahhh, had a late lunch today... Then went out car window-shopping with hubby and then to buy a new microwave, got back later than would have been good to eat dinner, so I settled with a bowl of cereal. Hope things are okay with the scale tomorrow!

Kris, I would go with the smaller dress as well. If you have to do too many alterations on the bigger one, you may actually lose the shape of the dress, whereas with the smaller one, you may only need minor alterations since it is 7 weeks away. Whatever decision you make, you do look great in the dress, that's for sure!

Editing now to add that I made hubby eat a salad today and portioned his food because he has NOT been eating well lately. Can't wait to see what the scale shows him tomorrow.

I lost just over 22 lbs in August.

My goal is to stay on plan for the rest of the month. I hope to be 203 by the end of the month.

3- 208.6 - Glad I didn't see a gain. I thought yesterday's weigh in was a fluke. I am glad it wasn't.

Wha wha whaaaaaaaaaa?! Lemme explain. I got a new scale! I had noticed that my weight was consistently higher on my scale than on the scale at the doctor or at my sisters house. I theorized that scales were not meant to be tossed and thrown by 1 year old babies, and thought perhaps my scale was off. So I bought a new, fancy schmancier scale, and weighed myself on the regular scale and the new scale and got a big difference - soooooo...since the new scale more closely goes with the kind of results I was seeing from my doctors scale and my sisters scale, I'm takin it. The only problem with this is I can't just go buy a new scale every time I'm plateau-ing. :lol3:

Good Morning Friends!

Everyone's numbers are looking so great! I don't have time to keep up with personals in here at the moment so I will have to come back later for some. :)

I am up .8 this morning but after the 2 whooshes of -2.2 and -1.2...I'm not too concerned.

I do have a date tonite!!!!! :D So I have my day planned and am allowing 500-600 cals for a great dinner and I'll be sure to get a salad and have them pile on the veggies with the entree. I am not worried at all. (that almost feels wierd. lol)

I am looking forward to get this day DONE so that the weekend can begin!

Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement and advice on the dress. I am going back to the dress shop (David's Bridal) tonight with my sister (if she gets to town in time) and I'm pretty sure I'll be exchanging my dress for the smaller one, unless my sister tells me I'm crazy to think I can fit into it in time. :) I am hopeful the smaller dress can be let out if need be, but I am concerned about the larger one having to be taken in so much that it messes up the shape of the dress or that it ends up costing me a fortune to have it done.

Both the sales person and the store manager talked me into the bigger dress. They said it would be easier to alter down and if I didn't lose weight in the right places then the smaller dress would never fit. The ball is 7 weeks away and the larger dress is already too big, but I worry the smaller dress will always be too small (does that make sense?). Here is a picture of me in the smaller dress taken 2 weeks ago (please ignore the awful tan line). You can see around the top and by my arms how tight it is (pushing up the fat) and it's tight through the stomach. My sister is gonna be in town this weekend - I think I'll have her go with me and see me in the smaller dress in person for a second opinion.

That dress really does not look that small on you. It's probably not comfortable, but I wouldn't look at it and say "DAMN! That lady needs a bigger size!" :lol: I'm sure a seamstress could let it out as long as there's a little extra fabric there. And if you've been consistently losing weight, she might end having to take it in anyway ;)

I've been working from home all week because of my sprained ankle and have learned something... I need to plan out all my foods even when I'm working from home, because otherwise I get so caught up in emails and meetings and actual work, that I forget to eat. Lesson learned. I'm really excited about almost being able to get back into the gym... The doctor said maybe another day or two! Jeez, I've never had a sprain bother me that long!

Coon I'm so happy you got your ticket! Congrats! And no, it's not silly, whether it's 4 days or 4 weeks - vacay is still vacay. Especially anytime it involves travel. :)

Blue Hi :wave: Thank you. Well, sometimes the pounds don't come off fast enough for any of us. I have had my moments. :o Everyone here here can attest to my "moments". :o :lol: But anyways, I try to eat plenty of protein and avoid starchy carbs and heavy sugar. I'm not on a particular plan per se. I have seen how starchy carbs and heavy sugars can trigger me to overeat and just not feel well in general. This way of eating makes me feel better and keeps me energized. I do count calories, though. I wish you luck in your weight loss goals.

Got everything moved over!

Was 185.2 this morning--new low for me! However tomorrow's weigh in will be higher. As it's Friday night, the damage was done, but I am always so strict and disciplined Sunday-Thursday that I give myself some leeway on Fridays and then I ease back in on Saturday in preparation for "full swing Sunday!"

Hope everyone had a great Friday and I'm sure we will all enjoy our fabulous weekends! :)

I had to do another closet cleaning that took an entire day it seemed. I do like the fact that I am losing but when you put on those favorites and they don't fit ... I'll tell you I am having some serious mixed emotions. :D. I have been actually listening to my body as far as sleep goes. I was back down to 169.0 this morning but after lunch at Olive Garden I'm not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in. I see you all are doing well. I would love to hit a new low. :)

Sooo, I just got back from Medieval Times! It was great. And I think I did really well with my food portioning too. They really do give you too much food and the guy kind of gave me a weird look because there was so much left on my plate, but I stopped when I was full instead of eating it just because it was there. Mini NSV for me... But then we got our picture (part of our package was a free picture) and I absolutely hated hated hated the way I looked. I knew from the scale that I had gained quite a bit of weight after I got married, but looking at this picture really hit home and I said to hubby, "why didn't anyone tell me I ballooned this much?" He wisely chose not to say anything. I didn't let it ruin my night, but it really really got to me and I'm disappointed with myself. Then I got home and I saw this blog post from Sparkpeople in my email and it really resonated with me, so I thought I would share it. I don't know how to link to it because it was emailed and I couldn't actually find it on the site, but here it is. I can't wait to look in the mirror and see a "thinner" me. *insert a super long sigh here*

Today I Looked in the Mirror

The reflection that I see is more often than not a distorted image of what is actually there. When I was at my heaviest, I couldn't see that weight when I looked in the mirror. I knew it was there, but unless I looked at a picture that was taken, I just didn't see it. I chose to ignore it and pretend that it wasn't there. When I looked in the mirror 6 months ago, what I saw reflected back to me was closer to the Emily 6 years ago, and about 70 lbs lighter, because that is what I chose to see.

Today, I do think that my perception of the Girl in the Mirror is getting more accurate, but it still isn't as true to reality as I would like because when I look in the Mirror I now see the Fat Girl I once ignored. I don't always see the New Girl that is standing in front of me. As I progress into weights that I have not seen since jr high, this New Girl is a stranger to me, much like Fat Girl was at one point. I am glad to say that I CAN see New Girl standing there, and I can realize that she IS me, and I smile. A true, happy smile because all of my hard work, the endless miles I have put on my shoes, the untold amount of weights I have lifted... I am starting to see what they are doing to and for my body. I guess it just takes my brain a little longer to catch up to the progress.

Today I Looked in the Mirror...

...and HONESTLY thought I looked thin(ner). It wasn't a positive thought I was just telling myself because I WANTED to believe it. I saw my reflection and I saw the miles that I have walked, the weights I have lifted, the good fuel I have eaten, the cookies I have passed up... It was a good start to the day.

Okay Ladies. . . here's the new smaller dress. The consultant was like "wow, you've lost a lot in 2 weeks." I've only lost about 4 lbs. I have 7 weeks to lose 17 more. The black jacket is a 14/16 - two weeks ago it didn't fit. I want the jacket but it's $60.

Good Morning Everyone!

I wanted to sleep later than I did. I woke up for some reason. I did get 7 good hours of sleep though. Some people can only sleep 4 or 5 hours so I am grateful for what I did get.

I think I have figured out what my problem was the last 3 weeks (besides my allergic reaction & TTOM ;)). (of course I don't know anything for sure, though). I was doing HIIT training, which is shorter bouts of intense cardio. I don't think my body liked it very well. I have always done well with longer cardio. This week I went back to doing my regular cardio routine and my body seems to be liking it better than the HIIT training. Of course everything is experimental and a work in progress. :dizzy:

Ona I have a digital Tanita. I special ordered it because it weighs heavier and I was much heavier at one time. Also, it has a bigger platform than most scales (DH wears a size 16 shoe :o) There are buttons (memory) for multiple people to use it. I use #'s 1-4 and DH uses #5. I will weigh myself on 1-4 hoping to get the same weight on all of them. The first time it said 197.6. As I went down the buttons the rest of them said 197.4. I went back to the one that said 197.6 and weighed again. It said 197.4 this time. So I went with that.

Diana ~ I did exchange for the smaller dress. The bigger one is just toooo big and with 7 more weeks, the smaller one is just the wise choice. The bigger one makes me look frumpy through my mid-section and the smaller one gives me a shape. I still have back fat with the smaller dress but I think by the time the ball gets here that won't be the case. I believe in myself (wow, that's a strange feeling :) ). Congrats & way to go on the pound down. You sound like me on the scale . . . I step on and off several times in the morning and take the number I see the most or if I see 3 different ones I usually pick the middle (as in between the highest and lowest) number.

Ona ~ Thanks. And lose more I plan too. Good job on the .2! I'm gonna have to try the mock potatoes ~ they are on my list of foods I want to try.

My sister and I are headed to the renassaince fair today. I already know I'm getting a grilled turkey leg and a roasted ear of corn while I'm there so I'm starting my day with a "no frills" protein shake - which means I won't add anything like fruit or peanut butter to save on calories. My protein powder only has 120 calories and 4 grams of carbs so I'm gonna make it with coffee today for a frozen coffee drink. I will get in lots of walking today so things should balance out.

Hope everyone has a great day. And I promise no more pictures of me in the dress until the ball - I'm sure everyone is getting tired of seeing it and hearing about it (I'm a little OCD sometimes :) ).

Thanks. I didn't go to prom and I eloped when I got married so I've never had opportunity to buy a pretty formal or dress up like this - except that one formal when I was at my highest weight for a charity dinner my employer took me too and buying a size 22 wasn't any fun :).

Star - I make my tickers on the Ticker Factory website. At the end of the process they give you the option to make a big one or a small one. I chose small, then when I copied and pasted them to my signature, I just made sure I didn't click enter (or return) between the two. It took me a few tries. :)

I secretly want to get married just for the dress :lol: I didn't really do a grad dress myself, so I understand where you are coming from. The jacket is super cute with the dress! And I'm also in the camp of not getting sick of seeing/hearing about the dress :)

Ona - glad to see the scale moving downwards :) Have you tried mashed cauliflower with roasted garlic? OMG, YUMMY!

Diana - WOO! Glad you got the little stall worked out!

Angie - you rock! Thats some very nice whooshing you are doing, congrats!!! I love cauliflower too, but think I'm a little boring with mashing it, I just steam it, and then mash it with some sour cream with a hand masher. I used to take zucchini and cut it really thin, pan-fry it with some pam and make a little sauce, SO yummy!

Kukkie - Oh Sodium, how I both hate and love thee.. I'm a salt junky, when I was younger my mom took me to the doctor because she was worried about how much I was ingesting, but he didn't seem to have a problem with it. Something about iodine helping with gallbladder issues, I dunno! I wouldn't worry about that .7, it'll be gone in no time I'm sure!

StarGetsFit - you are having a nice whoosh yourself :)

I haven't been getting on the scale, I have been working lots, and sleeping less which is always a bad combination for me. I get some relief on Monday when I get to sleep in :) But two weeks with overtime isn't so bad for the pocketbook :D

I lost just over 22 lbs in August.

My goal is to stay on plan for the rest of the month. I hope to be 203 by the end of the month.

3- 208.6 - Glad I didn't see a gain. I thought yesterday's weigh in was a fluke. I am glad it wasn't.

Angie,boiled the cauliflower until done,afterwards..pour excess water off.Make sure to get as much water out as possible.Then add 1 tbs of I can't believe it's not butter/salt& pepper/1 tbs Parmesan cheese.(or more if you like)Then mix all together.Like Aimee said, you can add roasted garlic to it if you like.:) congrats on 1.4 !!!! you're doing great!!!

Aimee -- I used to do zucchini the same way, I used the veggie peeler to slice it into thin strips and then just sauteed it with garlic. That would still work on my current plan as long as I used EVOO rather than butter to saute.

Star - If I had an Indian name right now it would be "A-River-Runs-Through-Her." :lol3: that had me rolling! Hope you feel better though.

Sunshine -- Sorry about the gain. I find if I eat more protein I never feel hungry, just a thought in case your hunger is sticking around.

Hey everyone!! Just checking in for the first time this weekend. Had a very "college-like" weekend. Tailgating party, spent the night out at the bars, etc. Had a huge gain to 191.4. Have spent today working out, ran 2.5 miles, and eating back on plan. Also drinking a ton of water to flush the system. On the flip side, I do have a wedding to go to in 2 weeks so that's motivation to keep myself on plan for 2 weeks straight to see just how good I can do!

Did have a doctors appointment on Friday for my annual checkup. I've lost 60 pounds since last year's appt--he was very impressed and proud! Treated me like a totally different person! Kinda strange how weight loss does that, but I think it gives people a totally different outlook on what kind of strength and determination we, as weight loss losers truly have! We go from "appearing sloppy" to "appearing motivated and strong" because weight loss is tough!

For personals:

Angie: Great job on the weight loss!!! You are doing amazing over the past few days!

Ona: Your consistency is inspiring! You are always so good and remain on plan and it reflects in your numbers. Thanks for giving me something to work towards this week.

Star: Love your Indian name! I will adopt it this week at some point I'm sure.

Aimee: Overtime is always nice! Money for bills and money in the pocket is always a sweet feeling! I'm working towards paying off my 2008 sports car I bought 2 years ago. Should have it all paid off by November 1st so I've been living on a tight budget lately. That extra money will feel so nice :)

kukkie: Wow!!! congrats on the 193.7! I know you've been waiting so long and been so busy to see such a loss! So happy for you!!

Diana: Nice!!! So glad to see you so far away from the 200 number. What a nice way to start the new week!

Ona - I love it with roasted garlic, and I totally made some last night! I didn't have garlic tho :( So I topped it with a little cheese. Yummy! I am taking very good care of myself, staying 100% on plan, and get to sleep in tomorrow :) I find the more I'm on plan, the less I get sick - it's that darn sugar, it apparently dampens your immune system.

Angie - wow lady, your whoosh continues :) I am a sucker for veggies! I do love me some spaghetti squash, and really don't notice a huge difference between it and spaghetti. What plan at you on?

Kukkie - I bow to you - 3 pounds! Yowsers! :D

eclipse - niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice job!!! You are gonna hit those 180's pretty quick here! Do you have any plans for milestones? You are almost at 100 pounds lost!

akelly - nice job paying the car off! I am attempting to live on a tighter budget, nooot enjoying it! But we are saving for a house, in a housing market that's pretty pricy. It'll all be worth it though :) Great job on your check up, thats great news!

As for me? I got on the scale this morning, and it was up a little... .4 I believe, but it was first thing, before going to the bathroom. Tomorrow morning will be judgement time for my 7 days 100% on plan.

Weighed myself twice this morning because I was a little shocked at the number -- I'm having trouble believing it, but I'll take it! I'm staying home with DS today, he had a fever and sore throat through the night.

Akelly - Sounds like a fun weekend and also like you're doing your 'pennance'! I'm sure you'll see that whoosh away in no time.

Aimee - I'm doing a medically supervised weight loss plan; Dr. Poon's metabolic diet. It's designed for people with metabolic syndrome, severe obesity (I guess that's me), and for people with diabetes and heart disease. It works well enough that it's sponsored by the Ontario health plan, so I don't even pay for it, and I'm pretty happy with the results. It's tough, it's low carb, low sodium, low sugar and low fat - and if you don't follow the diet they just kick you out of the program, they can tell if you've cheated because you provide a urine sample on each visit. It's a little militant, but I really needed that kick in the butt to get going and to stay motivated.

Ona -- I made the cauliflower last night. I think I did leave a bit too much water in it, and next time I'll be more generous with the parmesan and garlic, but we'll definitely have it again. It did fool my DS, he thought he was eating mashed potatoes. :)

Diana -- Look at you go! I'm so happy you've overcome whatever had been holding you back for the last few weeks. You must be elated at your new numbers!

Angie Look at you, too! Great job! At this point in time I think the "issue" was the cardio or should I say lack of. I am doing Turbo Fire. I was at the HIIT portion of the rotation. It lasted for about 3 weeks. That corresponds with the time frame that I was having problems. Last week I started back doing the longer cardio workouts from Turbo Fire and I seem to be losing again.

Oh my gawddddd... I'm down another 2.5 to 191.2 - I must have checked the scale at least 10 times! I'm so happy it's starting to move again. I might actually finally get out of the 190s before the end of the month! And this is after the cannelloni (stuffed with major cheese) I made for dinner last night. Although to be fair, I did a crapload of roasted vegetables with it. Wow. I can finally change my ticker and oh wow, add another scale dude - I just passed 15 lbs lost!

Star I think you're right, this must be the stress melting away.... :lol:

I'm editing to add that I have also been smoke-free since Friday night!!!

what a disaster of a weekend . . not even worth the time and energy it's going to take explaining it. i got on the scale this morning 181.4 . . . well Funk that. I know it's not water weight since that is about the only thing I could keep consistant.

Ok, so it's monday, what better day to start again and get back down to my low before the month is out.

I did however find out something interesting about my 'diet' . . . carbs are definately my friend. Not a crap load of them - but yeah, carbs are my friend for sure. No low-carbing for this lady.

Glad everyone else is doing well :) Im off to golf . . . . . oy.

Coondocks I find it so interesting how we are all so different. Some people do really well with lower carbs, others don't. Some people have better results with lifting heavy weights others do better with more cardio. Really interesting.

I wanted to fall on the floor. But I had no one to blame but me and my late eating. Won't do that again. Things seem to be calming down here I know that Tuesday through Thursday evenings are run run run.

I am 238 on the money this morning and I'll take it!! :yikes: I think I weighed myself atleast 4 times!!! I'm down 3.8 from last WI down the rest of that water of 1.2 from yesterday! Big NSV for me today too because I stayed completely on plan all weekend long. I journaled every bite and was totally honest. It was amazing. I feel that my body is rewarding me for that today. :)

I don't have time for all of my personals right now but I did notice Kukkie is down 2.5!!!!! :yay: :high: See girl, we TOLD you that once life calmed down the scale would move again! WTG for waiting it out! Enjoy it! And SO proud of you for staying smoke free! You are doing amazing!

Could someone tell me how to post the thumbnail pictures. I have a picture that I would like to share. I tried on a dress on Saturday just to see if I could fit it and it looked really nice. I wanted to get it but hubby said what's gonna happen when you are smaller *sigh* ... so I held on to it for as long as I could, then I hung it back up :( I did look for it in a smaller size but could only find an 8, go figure.

Thank you, thank you, thank you ladies for being so supportive. It means the world to me :grouphug: I was getting really frustrated with the scale not moving at all or often in the wrong direction. The last couple of days have been such a morale booster. I'm back in the gym on Thursday too, so I'm really excited about that, although I wish I could go before that! Unfortunately though, still a couple of lingering things going on before I can totally settle into a routine again. My parents are flying out tomorrow evening so I'm running around today helping my mom out with last minute errands since she's working, airport tomorrow and then I have class on Wednesday, which should have been on Saturday, but they didn't have enough students so they cancelled it.

aKelly So glad your doctor's visit went well. I think you're dead on with the perception people have of others who are overweight. I've always hated that people assume it's because you're lazy or some such thing.

Aimee yay for being 7 days on plan! Can't wait to see what the scale has to show you.

Diana I agree with you that it's strange on how carbs/exercise/various other things affect people differently. I've never been a fan of HIIT or cardio at all for that matter, more of a weight lifter, but glad you figured out what was causing your stalls. Onederland agrees with you!

Vixsin Thanksss! I know we talked about how I should try quitting the next day, but I think I just wasn't ready. I'm doing really well with it right now, not thinking about it as much (already) and hubby hasn't been smoking in the car with me either, which has been great. I read somewhere that I should drink juice throughout the first couple days, because it helps with the symptoms of having low blood sugar when you quit smoking and it's actually been quite helpful. Great job on staying OP this weekend and on your 1.6 down!

Ona You're so right, we can't lose everything all at once, sometimes our bodies need a break. You've been so consistent and know what you're doing so you'll rock this, no worries!

Angie - looks like the plan is really working for you these days!! I haven't heard of that plan, we must not have it in our province. But there was a program very similar in B.C., it was quite expensive, and not covered :(

My dad had a lot of health problems starting in his mid-50s but he played golf and always walked the course instead of riding. The doctors said that habit probably added years to his life. He lived to 74.

So this weekend was my daughter's 3rd birthday and we had a party, AND there was cake and ice cream (I made her an Ariel cake and it was so cute! **Patting myself on the back**) Despite the yummy food and NO exercise since Friday, I managed to stay the same.

I didn't gorge myself, I did have the cake and ice cream, but just a sliver and a few spoonful's. :) So I am happy! I thought about bringing my workout clothes to work and walk the track today, but it was already 90 degrees at 6:30 this morning! Uh, no thanks don't want to be sweaty all day! So I will do my normal work out tonight!

It looks like everyone is doing pretty awesome!

Kukkie - You really are making such an important change for your health! I used to smoke and it is so hard to quit! Especially when others smoke around you, those were always hard times for me. I had to stop going out with the girls until I could manage it better! You are doing awesome!! One day at a time!

I made a Tastefully Simple Almond pound cake on Friday and it is 170 calories before you add butter and 310 calories after. I have been having a slice for breakfast every morning and it's not too bad. I count it in but then I haven't been counting anything else but haven't done so bad, hope it keeps up :crossed:

I have this tattooed on my wrist in German. It says "Es ist ein neuer Tag." I got it about 3 years ago after a particularly bad bout of depression. One night I had a full bottle of pills in one hand and a bottle of alcohol in the other when I received a phone call from a kid that grew up with my kids. He said he called to tell me that he knew I was having a difficult time and that he loved me and a lot of other people loved me. He was 19 yrs old at the time. They all call me mama - hence my user name. He probably saved my life that night. The next morning I walked out the front door and the cool fall air felt so good I took a deep breath and for some reason I said out loud to myself "it is a new day." The tattoo followed shortly after. It is in German for my sister who took her own life in 2001 - she was a German teacher for 28 years. I chose my wrist because I wanted to see it every day and remember - and there is no way I can pop a handful of pills or anything else into my mouth without seeing it.

Swimgirl - OMG, the 180s! I hadn't even thought about i terms of being in the 180s - that seems so small, and I'm almost there! I've been so focused first on Onderland and now on the big 100 that I sort of forget to look at wear I am right this second :lol:. As for rewards for goals - I really, really need a new bra, and I have to buy expensive ones. I love the last ones I got, but they are really getting too big (no, wait, I'M GETTING TOO SMALL! :lol:), so I'm going to splurge on at least one fancy new one. I don't think I'll make it to my 100 lbs lost, though - I'm going to fall out of theses soon, and that won't be pretty! Dh gets paid friday, so I think sometime next week I'll hit the store.

It's so great to see so many citizens of a community out there working out and inspiring me to keep moving! Will definitely be spending my evenings there from now on just jogging my little booty off!

Apparently the 190s aren't so keen to let go of me just yet... I'm up 0.4 to 191.6 which could really be any combination of things. Let's see, I didn't really have a :dance: during my 2 day whoosh, I was drinking water until about 10ish last night, I didn't go to sleep until 1ish and woke up at 5:45, oh right and there's that bloody cake I decided to bake yesterday :lol: Oh well, everything's good in moderation. Here's what I think, just because we're getting rid of the excess pounds, doesn't mean we have to let go of everything we love as long as we find a way to work it into our plans and we stay accountable and don't overdo it. So ha, take that you 0.4, I will get rid of you!

Vixsin - Don't worry about those 2 pounds, it could be from something little, like bathroom issues, too much sodium, not enough sleep.. etc.. I'm sure you'll be down tomorrow! :)

Kris - you and I are in the same boat today, only I haven't gotten on the scale yet. I mostly just hate TOM because it means the scale won't be moving down for a few days :lol: Well and cramps!

I will bbl with my WI.. we'll see what that'll hold, ugh TOM!

Hey Diana, here's the recipe! I just realized I have to drop my parents to the airport tonight and then have class tomorrow night, so I won't get a chance to make it anytime soon. If you make it before I do, let me know how it turns out!

Ingredients
2 Cups sliced apple (peeled and cored)
1 Tbsp Cinnamon
3 tsp Brown Sugar
1/4 cup water
1 pkg Quaker Instant Oatmeal 33% less sugar (Brown Sugar Cinnamon flavor) Not Prepared

Directions
Core and slice apples and place in baking dish. Combine brown sugar and water and pour over apple slices. Toss to coat. Sprinkle with cinnamon and Instant Oatmeal. Bake, uncovered for 15 minutes at 425F. Remove from oven and stir. Return to oven for an additional 10 minutes. Serve immediately or allow to cool before serving.

Number of Servings: 4

Yup! TOM is full force! UP 1.1, and I feel puffy and gross! And it puts me back into the 260's, even if it is barely :(

Lnoelparis - We gotta be positive about TOM, think about the fabulous whoosh we'll get at the end! If we stay 100% on plan, we'll definitely see some pre-tom weights I think!

Matilda - it is quite the group to keep up with, when I'm working all day I miss SO much and it takes me a while to catch up!

I like it but you know I think it's really the fact that I ate so late and then weighed earlier then the next weigh in was on track but I will definitely take it :D

Thanks Kukkie ... you sound like me. I baked a pound cake on Friday night. I only ate a tiny piece then but I got up Saturday and ate another piece, and I think a couple more small pieces during the day. I finally decided I would slice it evenly and only eat a slice a day ... it's so good. I do count it in my calories so I'm not cheating :D Oh just read your post today I am with you ALL the way ... we should have what we want in moderation ;) Thanks for the recipe :)

I did have a muffin at the PTO coffee this morning and my DD talked me into (YES TALKED ME INTO) hehehe, going to McD's I had 1/3 of an Angus burger w/mustard slice of lettuce and tomato about 20 - 1 inch fries (yes I counted and measured) So I guess this is my goodie day :D. Gonna keep my :crossed: for a good weigh in tomorrow.

You ALL have made my day with the compliments on the dress. :grouphug:

BUT . . . I had my pitty party, did the anger thing, cursed the scale . . . and I've moved on.
Did my lunch hr work out today and came to the conclussion I like it. I like my hike at noon. Came back to my desk and ate teh spinach salad I made this morning with veg, greek dressing and steak . .. . YUM. Prooving to myself more now that the convenience foods, not so convenient and nothing will taste as good as my spinach salad with steak :D

Love - I have to agree, the dress looks wonderful on you! And the new low, rock it out Lady!! I'm determined to catch up :carrot:

Hi Matilda! It's nice to stop in even if you don't have much time to personally say hello and respond to everyone. These ladies fly through the posts daily, so I usually try and check in late at night when it's slower and I know 15 people won't post while I'm trying to do personals, LOL. Weekends are another story--I'm usually away from the computer and don't do as well checking in. Glad you make it a point to say hello though--we love newbies :)

As for me, no WI but I did learn a new lesson (well..learned a lesson the hard way). I went out to run, and took a new way. Little did I realize that starting my run going up a steep 90 degree hill without stretching beforehand WILL cause problems. I got about 1 mile down the path and of course I felt a major pain on the backside of my leg, behind the knee. I walked another mile and kept stretching it. Finally got myself jogging again, albeit at a slower pace. It was a compromise but I was so frustrated that I jogged 3 miles more and just "erased" the first 2 miles in my mind. LOL...pretty amusing that a year ago my issues were surrounding my horrible diet and bad cholesterol/GI issues. A year later I'm griping about running!

Aimee TOM is bad and for me it seems the older I get it gets worse. I think my body is just :?: Sciatica is worse than TOM I hope you feel better soon. Ibuprofen may relax the muscles a little better don't know if is will alleviate the nerve pain though :hug:

I am sooo not a happy camper today. I woke up this morning hoping to see a new decade and what do I get instead? 197.4, that's up 5.8 lbs. So I thought, that can't bloody be right and then what do I get, 196.8. Huh?! Again, 196.0. Well booo, because I didn't eat horribly yesterday and I got all my water in so what's the deal here? I even managed to actually get between 6-7 hours of sleep! What is wrong with this picture??????? :dunno: So I ignored it and started to get ready for work. 20 minutes later, I needed to... you know :dance: so I did. And then decided to weigh myself again because something had to have changed. Well it did, but apparently relieving myself caused to me to gain weight, up to 198.7 which according to yesterday's WI means I'm up 7.1 lbs total overnight. And the scale is less than 2 months old. So what gives?!?! :tantrum:

Desperately trying not to let it get to me. But 7 lbs overnight is a whole lot frustrating. The only good news I have is that the doctor finally cleared me and my sprained ankle this morning, so I'll be back at the gym tomorrow!

Ona About a trip, we normally close our shop down during the Christmas/New Year holidays. We go to the mountains. That's like our vacation. We thoroughly enjoy that time away. :D I don't really talk about my weight too much in my "real" life. No one knows how much I weigh or how much I have lost, anything like that. Everyone here knows more about that part of my life. DH and I got married in 1988. I was having problems with my BCP's and went to the Gyno. I remember weighing 185 at that appointment. As a side note about that appointment and that weight. I had a male gyno at the time. That won't ever happen again. I was on the exam table with that little paper sheet over me. Does anyone remember that diet program Oprah Winfrey was on? Was it Medifast? It was a program associated with the hospital. Anyways the Dr suggested that I enter that program because of how heavy I was. I was absolutely mortified! I could not believe anyone would suggest that type of program for a person that weighed 185 pounds and practically laying out there naked! That was my last appointment with him. Moved on! We don't take a lot of pictures. I don't have a complex about it, we just don't take very many pictures. DH has a really nice high tech camera. He doesn't know how to use it, I don't want to know how to use it. ;) My phone doesn't even have a camera on it. I used a camera back in the day when the camera would spit out a picture. :o Sometimes when we go on trips I will get one of those disposable cameras. I am so NOT normal. I may not be able to participate in sending out cards during the holiday. I have to send out a few hundred :dizzy: cards for our business. It is a very overwhelming time for me. I also have to focus on the month end and year end closings as well as getting ready to go out of town (what I mentioned above). A very overwhelming time, indeed.

Hi everyone!! I've been MIA as you maybe might have noticed. I'm fine...this will sound a bit dorky....I needed to take a short break and maintain to continue forward in losing the rest ahead of me.....did this at 2lbs before I hit 100lbs lost...I know...like I couldnt just knock those last 2 off before I took a break HUH!?!?! I just couldnt...had to break when I did. With getting used to being married & losing weight...it just all felt like so much & I felt overwhelmed I guess? I've maintained 210 & size 14 (wearing 14 skinny jeans today!!). Just needed to get used to my body a bit...I'm going through some pretty severe body issues...still see the big me when I look in the mirror. Needed to slow it down a bit & get my eyes used to my reflection...if that makes sense. Im back in the saddle again & ready to go...aiming for a size 7 at whatever weight that brings me down to. Now its time to lose those last 2 to make it 100 lost & beyond....

Congrats on everyones losses...I have a lot of reading to catch up on wow!!!

I'm pretty stoked today, I went to my official weigh in and my Dr. moved me to phase 2 of my plan; that means...I GET TO EAT CARBS!!! Real ones! Only 2 per day (ie/ 2 slices of WW bread) but I also get some new veggies and fruit and dairy on my list -- I'm thrilled to pieces. I'm going to be very moderate with my change though, I really don't wan to slow down my losses.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Last night we went to eat at a Thai restaurant. I was really craving Chicken Satay and Fresh Basil Summer Rolls with peanut sauce. That's what I had. The food didn't taste salty, but I was scared of the sodium after effects. When I got home started looking the calories up and try to figure them out. Then I got really scared. Bottom line, I'm still not sure of the calories and sodium, but the scale was very kind to me this morning. So much so, I'm already scared for tomorrow's weigh in. :lol:

Calories for yesterday: 1515 + Morning Joe

Weigh In: 194.4

Down: 2 pounds (this rarely happens to me)

I always complained about my thin lips and wonder how I'd look with lip injections. The answer: REALLY BAD, like a cracked-out BRATZ doll.

up again today to 180.6 . . . I'm really not amused with this at all, but at least with me that just spurs me on to prove I can get back down to the low that I saw . . . hopeully lower but I'm not going to do something crazy just to drop 5 pounds in week.
I've been experimenting with my percentages for carbs, protein etc . . . its so bizarre that carbs work well with me and yet, I'm really not a fan and it's a struggle for me to get in the right amount, how weird is that? I mean, there's only so much fruit I can eat in a day and pasta, breads . . . not so much a fan of those.

Time to get some new cookbooks and get creative :)

Star I'm so sorry to hear this. It's awful, I know. In another check-in of mine, a person sent me pictures of Angelina and Octomom. I had Octomom lips. :lol: Hers are bigger. I think I found out what my problem is/was. I didn't mention this, but I was still battling this up to a couple days ago. I think I have figured it out now. Let's hope so. I am allergic to cranberry and blueberry. They are both in the Heath family of plants. I was drinking cranberry juice at one time. I had also started eating blueberry preserves. I looked it up and they are in the same family. I had my last reaction on Monday, I think. My lips are still healing. I think that type of reaction is more from something you eat than a topical product.

Maybe the scale actually went whack when it was giving me 2 day whooshes totalling 5 lbs. I'm down 2.8 from yesterday's high WI to 195.9 but still up close to 5 lbs from my recent low. I took out the batteries to reset it, not quite sure if it did anything. Not even really sure how I'm down from yesterday, it was a day full of carbs, pasta for lunch and pizza for dinner :lol:

Ohhhh my goodness, I just had a serious light bulb go off, TOM is coming next week. But I've never had a 7 lb increase a week in advance... So not sure how accurate that is.

I got summoned to the downtown office, so not sure about going to the gym tonight, but hubby has the day off today, so maybe I'll drag him out for a power walk after dinner.

The scale was kind to me this morning. 238.4 Down 1 more. Thank you scale. Focused on getting to that low of 234 that I only saw for a brief second. I'm focused on getting back to that and keeping the momentum going.

Oh big NSV last night!! I got my son pizza for supper and wrapped up the rest and even threw out the last lone piece that didnt get wrapped up! Threw it out!!!! I did smell it though. :lol3: It didn't smell as good cold as it did when I got it into the car piping hot. :)

As for me I am down .8 at 166 even. I am .6 away from 30lbs gone. I am so excited. This is a big deal to me because I never thought I COULD do it. I do have to give credit to YOU ALL my 3FC family. You all are GREAT people. Thank you :hug: :hug: :hug:

Oh and yesterday and today I did get a chance to walk with my neighbor. There are 4 really good hills in our subdivision that really kick our butts but it feels so good when we get to the top :D :yay: to getting my exercise in again ... finally ;)

Hi Ladies!:grouphug: Thanks for all the well-wishes! The swelling has gone down a bit, and luckily I didn't scare any of my students, though some of them gave me the fish eye.:lol: It's still a little tender and swollen but I have hopes for the morning. I guess it might have been something in the curry I had for dinner, but I have curry all the time, both Thai and Indian, and it wasn't form anywhere new, but I think it's the most likely culprit. Though I have been eating a lot of blueberries like Diana . . .hmmm.

It looks like eveyone is having a great day of losing! I thought I would have time for personals, since I only work one job today, but the DH wants to take me out to dinner. I think he secretly likes my swollen hooker lips . . .I guess we'll see where the night takes us.;)

I think I'll lay off the berries for a bit eat a bunch before my four day weekend in November and see what happens.:lol:

It would be good to find out what the allergy is. Did your eyes get puffy? I also had some facial and back itching.

No, it was pretty isolated to my lips, more the top than the bottom. I have a zit on the top lip, which is why I thought maybe the Clean and Clear zit cream. I have cystic acne that flares up now and then. But I've used the cream for two weeks and everything else has been fine.

Definition of a bad idea (aka the bad news): On your first day of eating carbs and dairy after 6 weeks of almost zero carbs and dairy; go out for dinner to an Italian restaurant, eat foccacia bread with olive oil & balsamic vinegar, and half a plate of risotto. Let's just say my body did not appreciate the sudden change. :dance: Also, at the time this feeling hit me we were through with dinner and watching a show at the comedy club. Although I was DYING with stomach pains, I refused to get up in the middle of the show to use the washroom...I didn't want to be a subject in the show!

Now, the good news out of all this excitement for my poor digestive tract; I just weighed myself and I weigh less now than I did this morning! I hope it sticks overnight.... :dizzy: Plus, I had a ball at the comedy club...it felt great to laugh for almost 2 hour straight. :D

Jennie look at my progress this month I'm on page 4 ... it really sucks. It seems you and I have been doing the same for awhile. But if you notice when I get near you your scale moves so don't worry you'll be out of the 160's soon. I know it. :hug:

Well, dinner didn't go as planned. My Dad got into town early (My uncle is have a cancerous tumor removed tomorrow with only 50% chance of surviving the surgery) so we ended up at my sister's house. My Dad didn't want to go out, so they ordered Domino's for everybody.

I didn't do horribly, coming in at 2200 calories, but it certainly wasn't the 1700 I had planned for. I expect a big sodium spike on the scale in the morning. I'm also up waaaay past my bedtime.
