WW Clubs and Groups - 50 or more week of Oct 21View Full Version : 50 or more week of Oct 21 JanetMae 10-21-2002, 08:13 AM If you have 50 or more pounds to lose, or are losing, this is the group for you! So jump on in and join; you'll be sure to get a warm welcome! :) tontoy 10-21-2002, 11:54 AM Hello Ladies, Well I finally had my first day where I was under 31 points. For most of last week I was hovering around 38 points. I am doing good with the exercise, I just hope when I weigh myself on Wednesday I see a loss. You know how you are so excited sometimes to get the ball rolling, but I know it doesnt happen overnight. How is everyone else doing? Has anyone lost weight recently if so how much? Are most of you in the maintenance part of your program? Have good day everyone. JanetMae 10-21-2002, 01:55 PM Hi Tonya, Way to go on staying under 31 points! With all that exercise, I'll bet you'll show a loss again soon. And you're so right, it doesn't happen overnight, but it WILL happen! Re: where we are, we're at various stages right now. I've been maintaining at my WW goal for over a year, but am trying to lose ten more pounds to reach a personal goal. I need to try harder, though! Hope everyone has a great week! Jan gmalil 10-21-2002, 06:55 PM Happy Monday to all! I weighed in on Friday with a 2.4 loss, so got my newest 5 pound award. Starting over is the pits. Hope I can just stick with it this time! Jan, your sister's work is beautiful! She obviously deserved her award! thanks for sharing that site. Carol, so glad your mums are behind you as another susccessful project! and good to have you back. ttyl gmalil 10-21-2002, 10:30 PM I'M SICK OF CHICKEN!!:chicken: I said this at dinner tonight and my dgd said "that is what grandpa said last night!" (Un-beknownst to me) and He said "no, we will eat what helps gma lose weight." :) aaahhh Gotta find some tasty alternatives, open for suggestions. :chef: JanetMae 10-21-2002, 11:16 PM JOYce, yay! 2.4 pounds!! That is a terrific loss! And congrats on your five-pound star, too! :) Am doing the happy dance for you. Dh also sends his kudos! Re: chicken, it's one of our favorites, but tonight we had salmon and last night, a ginger-orange marinated tuna over couscous with a fresh corn/lime salsa. (I'll bet y'all have lots of fish in the freezer?) Lean pork tenderloin is a great choice; we buy huge whole loins at Sam's, cut them into butterfly chops, trimmed of all fat, and freeze them. They're easy to thaw, marinate, and grill. Frozen shrimp, stir-fried with lots of veggies, over brown rice, is another favorite that's easy to fix (once you chop all those veggies!). And that is the sweetest thing your dh said; a simple statement, with love just shining through it. And I know you meant Texaslady re: the mums; I'll bet she IS glad to have that done, though I'll bet it's fun putting them together. Everyone have a great week! Jan gmalil 10-21-2002, 11:34 PM :oOf Course I meant texaslady about the mums! how embarrassing! sorry tex! Thanks Jan for that correction and for all the good ideas, you are so right, there is lots of fish in the freezer and I mentioned that at dinner. I sometimes get those loins at Sam's but have never been as creative as your suggestion...but I will give it a try! dh loves pork! Is the ginger /orange marinade something that comes that way or is it a recipe of yours? sounds very good!:cbg: dh needs the puter, so will scoot for now. :) Linda Jean 10-22-2002, 04:42 AM JOYce, you beat me to the five-pound star! That is just AWESOME that you have lost five pounds already! Have you started journaling yet? If not, you may be surprised at how steadily you will lose when doing so. I am so proud of you. Tonya, that is just super that you were able to go an entire day and come in with 31 points only. What was it that helped you do it? You had said that you get really hungry early in the day, especially with all of your exercising. When is your next weigh in (WI)? I didn't go to WI last Wednesday but will go back this Wednesday. I don't think I have gained anything, and perhaps I will show a loss. My jeans are starting to get a little loose (and these were the ones where, a few weeks ago, I had to lie on my back on the bed in order to be able to button them up).:o Rymsh 10-22-2002, 06:45 AM Joyce, congrats on the loss! Don't forget the old "Cola Chicken"- good with pork chops too! Jan, ds work is beautiful! Running late- hi to all. Catch you later. Carol JanetMae 10-22-2002, 11:15 AM JOYce, the ginger marinade was just some grated ginger, orange juice, orange zest, touch of balsamic vinegar, sea salt, pepper, and teaspoon of oil. The oil is supposed to be avocado oil, but I didn't have that, so used canola; I usually use olive oil, but didn't want the flavors to clash. I'm envious of your freezer full of fish! How do you usually like to cook your fish? Do you grill outside a lot, in that beautiful California climate? Carol, thanks, I'm so proud of her... Linda, good luck at your WI tomorrow! I know you'll do great! Hi to Texaslady, Tonya, Lilithu, and Janet! gmalil 10-22-2002, 11:41 AM Thanks girls! I love all the suggestions.CAROL I had forgotten about the cola chicken. I bet it would be very good with pork chops! JAN, the marinade sounds wonderful! CAROL, You asked about my taking care of my health. :^: I probably don't do what I should. I have an appt on Friday to see a doctor about this persistent cough. I would probably not go, but I need to find out what it is, because I can't go see my sister until I know what it is! :?: Although, a friend yesterday, suggested I try some allergy meds, which I did last night, and slept much better. I haven't had a flu shot, just know it makes me sicker. But will ask the doc on Friday. My doctor is on an extended vacation, so will see someone new. I think this cough started when we had the awful fire so close to us, I wonder?????could it still be an effect from all that smoke???? hmmmm! DS has a bday in a couple of weeks and want to be there for it! Hi to all, sorry to rattle on.....kinda like thinking out loud! gotta have some cereal and go to glass class. I'm in the middle of putting lead in my picture. tontoy 10-23-2002, 10:24 AM Hi everyone, well today is weigh in day for me. I lost another two pounds, that brings me to 240 pounds. I am happy about it, but also scaird. I want desperately to keep loosing weight and I am scaird that if the scale doesn't show a loss every week I will start eating bad again. I have always exercised that is not the problem. For me it is the food. I have been working hard this last week to come under 31 points. Linda asked me what made me do it. Something inside of me just clicked. I am just tired of being this heavy. I want to feel sexy and pretty again. I dont want my 2 year old daughter to grow up with an unhealthy body image. She already thinks she is pretty and I want her to always feel that she is beautiful. I just want to get into the 220's so bad by Christmas. Does anyone besides Janet still have more than 50 pounds to loose? I am going to hang in there ladies, but I just get so anxious I want it to happen now and I know it is a process, but I am committed to the challenge. Everyone have a great day! JanetMae 10-23-2002, 01:57 PM Yay, Tonya, two more pounds gone forever! :) :) You are doing so well! And you're right, it is possible that some day you may not show a loss even though you've followed program that week. If that happens, don't get discouraged; just keep on going, and the loss will show up in its own good time! JOYce, I think you're on to something with that fire; it very well could have triggered some allergies! I know that Dad and my dh were both ill for several weeks after the fires in Mexico sent heavy smoke our way, about two years ago. Dad developed bronchitis and had to take some steroids to clear it up, if I remember right. I'm glad you're going to see your doctor soon; hope he/she can fix that for you! Gotta run! This has been such a busy week, though I don't know why; guess I'm just falling behind on some things, and scrambling to catch up. Regards, Jan gmalil 10-24-2002, 12:19 AM Tonya, congrats on the loss! I have over 50 to lose, in fact it is more like 100. I weighed in today with a slight gain, but it will be gone next week, I am not discouraged. It was a good meeting, the leader talked some about BLT's aka bites, licks and tastes, that we don't count, and that add up. I sat between Linda and my other friend Linda, then we went to lunch and another Linda joined us! we had a good time, laughed a lot, and stayed OP. I felt a little outnumbered by the Linda's.:) Jan, the more I think about it, I know it must be the smoke that has done this to me. I'm anxious to see what the doctor has to say. Tomorrow, dh and I will go trade in our travel trailer which is too large for us now, for a smaller version. Still plenty big for the 2 of us and also dgd if we ever convince her to go with us again. Now we just have to find the time. She is finished with her '2nd' soccer team after Thanksgiving, so our weekends might be our own again...especially since my last Fellowship event, the chili cookoff at church is this Sat.! Which is also Homecoming dance night, so I will be pulled between the 2 events. fortunately we live about a mile and half from church, so won't take long to go back and forth as needed. time to go get the dgd from church Youth group...ttyl :dizzy: JanetMae 10-25-2002, 11:15 AM JOYce, I hope your doctor's appt goes well today, and that a solution is found for that persistent cough! How do you like your new travel trailer? Sounds like you had a great WW mtg. Dh has always identified with that BLT concept, as it's difficult for him during the school day to avoid all the food lying around the lounge, workroom, etc. Sounds like you have a very busy day tomorrow! I'm sure you'll manage everything beautifully, though. Sure is quiet in here! I hope everyone has had a good week. Mine has gone by way too slowly, and all this rain has kept me from my outside walks. I used the treadmill this morning, but it's just not the same. For some reason, I'm a little depressed. On top of that, Dh and I won't get to go to our WW mtg because he has to help at the elementary carnival tomorrow. I leave Sunday for a two-day workshop in East Texas, which should be very interesting (it's on creating digital video) but there is so much to do to get ready! Maybe I should just get busy and stop whining, huh? Hope everyone has a great weekend! Regards, Jan gmalil 10-25-2002, 03:33 PM Oh yes! the dreaded Teachers lounge! a bad place~ I just got home from the doctor, I like this doctor on call! I think she is Swedish. Her name is very much like Kudzu, so thought about that when I tried to remember the new name. She is sure that it is a post nasal thing, with no infection, could have been caused by the smoke. She gave me an inhaler thing and some allergy pills to try. (she also told me to drink lots of fluids, and I read a pamphlet while i waited that stressed the importance of walking...I need to improve in both those areas. ) I will be able to go see my sis, since I am not contagious!! now need to figure out when:?: Chili cook off tomorrow...a wedding cake next Sat. ...might have to do a sunday =monday thing...not easy to do, might just have to be patient and wait til the 9th.:( She is feeling 'down' after her cat scans Wed., they showed that the tumor in her lung is smaller, but no other change. We were all hoping for a miraculous change...maybe yet to come. dgd has had an atttitude for a cupla days, guess she is getting anxious about the big date tomorrow. :cloud9: "give me strength!!" :dizzy: Linda Jean 10-26-2002, 03:47 AM Jan, it's about midnight here in Southern California, and I have just gotten caught up with the posts for the past few days. I am hoping that when you wake up Saturday morning, your depression will be completely gone! I can imagine feeling that way, what with all of the rain you've been having, and the disappointment of not being able to go to your WW meeting with your dh. We have had some grey days recently, and a nice soft rain fell for awhile here late this afternoon, but for us, the rain is cause for celebration! The newsman said tonight that it was probably enough to germinate the rye grass seed they spread all over the mountains where the fire had burned all of the vegatation away recently. :) I lost enough to get my 5# star at WI last Wednesday, right behind JOYce! I am beginning to feel a little "lighter" on my feet the past few days, even with only 5# gone so far. Hooray! I am feeling so positive about this, girls! Tonya, good for you; another two pounds gone! That is just wonderful. Hang in there; I speak from experience when I say that getting to goal is an up-and-down, and sometimes a long-plateau's worth of weeks and months. Just don't give up. Hope everyone has a great weekend. JanetMae 10-26-2002, 12:22 PM JOYce, I'm so glad your doctor gave you some good news; hope you're feeling better soon! I'm sure your sister will be glad to see you. Having the tumor shrink seems like a good sign, doesn't it? Re: teenage attitude, boy, do I understand! I'm sure things will calm down after the big date, you're right. Linda, congrats on the five pound star!! :) I'm doing the happy dance for you. You are an inspiration! Thanks for sending good wishes my way re: this silly depression. I'm feeling a little better today, though it's still grey and rainy. I think what got me down was thinking about my mother all last week, and how much we miss her; yesterday marked ten years since her passing. Dad and I took flowers to the cemetery, and shared memories, and that helped. So I'm spending a cold, rainy Saturday up here at school, getting things ready for next week. The kids are having their district cross country meet, so every so often I run outside with the digital camera to take a few shots for the web site. It's amazing to see all these athletes in action! The winner in the boys' three-mile run did it in 17 minutes!! In the cold rain & mud, no less. And I haven't even done my morning walk yet; I think I'll go to the warm, dry gym and do some laps right now. Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Hi to Tonya, Texaslady, Carol, Janet, and Lilithu!. Regards, Jan gmalil 10-27-2002, 12:06 PM The Chili cook-off is behind me! I was 'recognized' for my leadership over past yrs, and a call was made for someone to step up and take over. :cb: THEY BELIEVE!! I shed some tears, but it sure feels good this morning! I kept my keys to the cupboards to help a friend with a wedding next week, and thenI am giving them up! I will make the Italian wedding cake this week and serve it Saturday. dgd got off to the dance looking gorgeous and her date looked very sharp. His parents came in to take pictures and chat a minute, found out that his dad is the Chief of Police in a neighboring town! they seem to be a very nice family. she just now walked in, looking like the 'morning after', saying it was wonderful! she has to re-coop and go play a soccer game this morning. I'm off to church, just wanted to report on those 2 big events. BTW, I didn't pig out and I did a line dance or 2 so am o.k. program wise. ttyl JanetMae 10-28-2002, 12:09 AM JOYce, congrats on your being honored at your church for all those years of leadership! You certainly deserve that, and more. And I'm especially glad that they have taken you seriously re: finding someone to carry on. Sounds like dgd's big date went well; how nice that his parents came in to take pictures and visit! Now that these two big events have gone off so well, I hope you'lll have a little time for yourself in here! (Though it sounds like you are baking a huge wedding cake too?! You are amazing...) I'm here in East Texas in a motel, after a long 230-mile nonstop drive, unwinding and getting ready for this workshop tomorrow. Should be pretty interesting, though, lots of new info and concepts! Dh helped me pack my Kashi for breakfast and other healthy stuff, and I went to a grocery tonight for salad and apples. (Gotta weigh in this Saturday for November!) Tomorrow's workshop is a "lunch provided" thingy, which can be awful; I think I'll take an apple and yogurt, just in case. Will try to get up early and walk/jog around the parking lot. Too bad the weather's too cold and rainy to swim. So, how is everyone's week shaping up? Regards, Jan vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
