Please subscribe to this thread so it won't be a hassle to find.

This is my goal for the rest of this year. I am currently 279.4 lbs, and by January 1st, 2011 I'm going to be 229.4 lbs or less! So anyone who would like to, please join me in challenging yourself to lose 50 lbs by New Years! Feel free to jump in at any time! It's never too late. :)

Please weigh in either monthly or weekly. I will be doing monthly. when you do your last weigh in on New Years morning, please take the time to add all your weigh ins together for me, haha! I then will add everyone's losses together and subtract it from the Team Start Weight.

Don't include me on your list, but gosh I wanted to jump in and root you on! That's ambitious! I can't wait to see how much progress you guys make toward this goal, whether you meet it or not! You're going to be so excited to see how much you CAN lose in that time frame!

My goal was to lose 50 by the end of the year but I was counting back to June! I wish I could lose 50 from now until then but thats 3 months. Too fast for me...too scared!!! But I will definitely join the efforts to lose the rest of my 25 by Dec. 31st.

Today was my first weigh in since starting this new healthy lifestyle and I've lost 4 pounds this week. :carrot:

I must be honest though...at 24 years old and starting at almost 286 pounds, I was expecting more for my first week. I know, I know it's only water when people lose 8 pounds in their first week, but hey I'm sure I have water in here to lose too! :D I was paranoid as I stepped on the scale this morning thinking I had done all this hard work all week and the scale would show nothing. I guess I enjoy playing mind games with myself :devil: NOT.

Then reality checked back in (thank you very much) and I am happy with 4 pounds. Thats a great start!

So 46 more to go for me by New Years! C'mon everyone, we can do this!

Haha, it's totally doable! A little on the ambitious side, but not impossible. :) Even if you don't make 50, any amount lost is great.

Well, 3 lbs isn't realistic for EVERY week, but you might lose 2 this week, and 4 next. So stay determined, comitted, and hopeful! It will happen, even if not by New years. :) Good luck!

Congrats on the loss this past week! Yeah, at my mid-weigh in this week (my first week) I've already lost 8.4 or so lbs. I'm pretty sure it's water, haha so don't worry. My actual weigh in is tomorrow. Just remember any loss is better than a gain. Glad you're now happy with your 4 lbs loss, that's great! Some people only lose 1. Good luck losing the rest! We can do this indeed. :devil: haha

I hope it's just that everyone is busy or doing so well, and not that this thread is going dry. :p

Had my second weigh in this morning and I'm a little dissapointed. Lost 1.6 this week.

I guess it's not the fact that I'm upset with 1.6. I know 1-2 pounds is normal. I think I was just hoping for a bigger loss so that I know "this is for real". Being 280ish pounds makes it very easy for the scale to fluctuate 5-7 pounds in ONE DAY so the fact that I've now lost 5.6 pounds total in 2 weeks is still playing with my head. Is this water? Is it fat? Am I truely losing anything or is the scale just bouncing around and next week I'll be up 5lbs?

So my question for you is....how many pounds did you have to lose before it "sunk in" that this is happening and you are successful!?

9/3: 285.8

Ladies, I'm scared to weigh!! I got my TOM but it has really hit me with cravings. I wasn't too bad but still, I'm scared to. I finally hit 260 and the day I got my TOM I was the EXACT same weight...so I'm assuming I was down but the water weight put me back up. I always tend to gain 2 lbs on my TOM and then it comes right off. I guess I just need to do it!!

Congrats on the loss so far! I thought I was the only person who's weight bounced around so drastically like that. It's not a matter of lbs for me I don't believe. I have a tendency to talk to myself and one of my recent self conversations was me analyzing my weight loss plan. I realized I will be successful because I choose to be. I WILL make it happen, no doubt about it. I may get discouraged and want to give up, but quitting in totality will no be an option. I have goals, deadlines, plans, and motivation. And everyday I sit down and write the goals and whatnot all over again to stay motivated. Because in "dreaming" about the day I am at my goal weight, and fantasizing daily what it will be like, is when I know I'm going to get there. I picture it constantly... I may not make sense, lol, 'cause it's coming out in jumbles, but it makes sense to me. I would elaborate, but it'd be boring I guess. Still though, this plus the extra untyped thoughts in my head are the reason I KNOW I will succeed.

Don't worry, you're probably right - it's water weight. Around my TOM I tend to lose weight. Food disgusts me, my stomach hurts painfully which causes me to not eat, and I walk alot to eat the cramps. I don't really get cravings during TOM. Food tends to make me throw up around that time. Good luck on your next weigh! I'm sure those 2lbs will come right back off. :]

Weighed in for this week and only down 0.8lb. Better than nothing, but not great either.

My losses so far look like this...

Week 3: -0.8

Alright ladies, finally made it to the 50's! I ate a bowl of cornflakes at midnight last night so I was back up but I think that was more of a timing thing. So far 4 lbs...not doing so hot here. Need to kick it up a notch!!

Weighed in for this week and only down 0.8lb. Better than nothing, but not great either.

I do monthly weigh in rather than weekly, so I guess that's why it seems like this thread is never used, haha. We're still here though! (I know I am. =])

A loss is a loss is a loss. That's what I always say. As long as you're losing rather than gaining, it's good. Keep it up! Good luck for next weigh in!

That's okay, you'll get it right! Trial and error leads to success. You can do this! 4 lbs is still pretty good. That's 4 lbs you won't have to carry around anymore, right? =)

Firstly, congrats on the loss! I'm sure we all agree when I say I'd rather see the number go down, rather than up.. right? :) Don't be disappointed, be positive. Try to find the areas your program needs tweaking in. Are you getting enough water? Being totally honest with yourself on what and how much you eat? Exercising enough? If all is answered yes, maybe try to kick it up a notch on the exercise. My mom just got a bike and she biked to her friends house who lives about 1 mile away. She's like 352 now. Last week she was 360 or so.

Just throwing some ideas your way, that I'm sure you already thought of, haha.. Just remember, don't give up and stay positive.

Hey all! I want in! I'm hoping to be pretty darn close to 50lb lighter by Jan 1, 2011. (46 is close right!?) My weight on Sept 1, 2010 was 266lb. So, my goal for 1.1.11 is 220lb.
09.01.10 = 266lb
09.18.10 = 258lb (8lb down, 38 to go.)
10.02.10 = 253lb (13lb down, 33 to go.)
10.16.10 = 247lb (19lb down, 27 to go.)
11.01.10 = 247lb (19lb down, 27 to go. sigh.)
11.16.10 = 242lb (24lb down, 22 to go.)
12.04.10 = 237.5 (28.5 down, 17.5 to go.)

I totally get what you're saying... My start weight was 288lb at the beginning of August. I also saw my weight fluctuate greatly even in a day. For the past 5 years, I've been somewhere between 260-280 and I've never been less than say 235 as an adult (at that was for, like a month!)...

I currently weigh in at 254lb, a 34 lb loss. It's just now starting to feel "real" to me. As a long-time WeightWatcher Online user, it helps that I can look back at all the weights I entered as see that I haven't weighed this little since like Spring 2005! And I can fit into clothes that I already owned, but couldn't wear. I'd purchased some new things and I KNOW I couldn't fit them 2 months ago -- they are now my favorite outfits! I am constantly just trying on things in my closet to see if they fit yet.
Even so, I don't feel like I really look different. I've been at 250 before, it looks about the same as 280 on me (at least to me). BUT I feel totally better. I've been eating realllllly healthy food (except for a few off days) and I actually do have more energy. I watch less TV. I do more chores. My freaking fingernails are growing faster!! Things I used to eat with out thinking actually make me sick now (hello, last weekend's ice cream sundae with candy toppings!)
Also, for me, I knew it was more than just a diet attempt when I totally screwed up last week - didn't lose anything - but I didn't feel like a failure. I just ate healthy over the next week like I'm supposed to and tried to compensate. I'm really focused on changing my eating habits for good, to be healthy - the weight loss is an added bonus!

Sorry for the long-winded response, but it feels great to explain how I feel about this whole process...

Firstly, congrats on the loss! I'm sure we all agree when I say I'd rather see the number go down, rather than up.. right? :) Don't be disappointed, be positive. Try to find the areas your program needs tweaking in. Are you getting enough water? Being totally honest with yourself on what and how much you eat? Exercising enough? If all is answered yes, maybe try to kick it up a notch on the exercise. My mom just got a bike and she biked to her friends house who lives about 1 mile away. She's like 352 now. Last week she was 360 or so.

Just throwing some ideas your way, that I'm sure you already thought of, haha.. Just remember, don't give up and stay positive.

Holy cow! 5.8! Way to go! Sometimes I guess we just need to eat a little more. I never use my flex points either. Will see what this Friday's weigh in brings and will then decide from there how to tweak it.

As soon as I signed up for this challenge, I stalled. It was so unbelievably frustrating! I was still working out, tracking my calories and eating right, but my scale WOULD NOT move. Plateau to the max. And I knew it wouldn't be forever and it was just a part of my weight loss journey, but UGH! So earlier this week I stepped on the scale and, blessed be (!), I dropped 3 pounds! Hooray! Then today I weighed myself and have dropped another 3.2 lbs. So now I have 3 months to lose 45 pounds. 15 pounds a month, 4-ish pounds a week. I can do this!

Hey all! I want in! I'm hoping to be pretty darn close to 50lb lighter by Jan 1, 2011. (46 is close right!?) My weight on Sept 1, 2010 was 266lb. So, my goal for 1.1.11 is 220lb.

lol I still don't know that dance I used to watch it everyday. Gilad is really good.

I've been editing my previous post, but it's buried a few pages back... I'm still here though! Congrats to all you lb-losers! I hit my halfway through the challenge point. May fall a few pounds short of my 46lb goal by NewYears, but still have a chance!

My weight on Sept 1, 2010 was 266lb. So, my goal for 1.1.11 is 220lb.
09.01.10 = 266lb
09.18.10 = 258lb (8lb down, 38 to go.)
10.02.10 = 253lb (13lb down, 33 to go.)
10.16.10 = 247lb (19lb down, 27 to go.)
11.01.10 = 247lb (19lb down, 27 to go. sigh.)

12.04.10 = 240lb (26lb down, 20 to go. Not going to make goal, but going to get as close as possible! New goal is 230.)

It's kind of embarrassing to have stopped checking in on my own challenge.... haha.. but I'm still at it! I haven't given up yet! My birthday was yesterday, and I didn't even do anything special or wear anything cute like I wanted to (just because I wasn't comfortable with myself). Next year, my birthday will be better!

I personally am losing a lot slower than our goal of 50lbs by new years, but I'm averaging about 2 pounds per week. The best part is I'm not deprived and I'm making small changes. It's something I wont' give up on next week...which for me is huge!

Down another five! So, forty pounds lost on challenge! I upped my treadmill to an hour a day instead of 30 minutes and it's helped speed my weightloss up again. I may be able to lose another five pounds this month, but no way ten. The closer I get to 200 the slower my weight loss gets. Gosh, I can't even believe I'm close to 200! Blows my mind.

My goal was to drop 46lb and I definitely didn't make it. BUT I did lose 27 lb over the 4 months which is 10% of my Challenge start weight!

Congrats to y'all, too! I lost 47 pounds on challenge. I didn't change my ticker though, because I only change it at every 5 pounds lost.
