I can't tell you how much your prayers, hugs and well wishes mean to me. I'm just more than a tad nervous.
DH will drop me off tomorrow morning before 10:00, surgery will formally begin approximately 11:30, I should be in recovery around 3:00 and on my way home by 4:30.
Tomorrow night Bonnie will be with me to hold my hand and guide me on checking the drainage tubes, bandages, etc.. Susie will be with me a few hours every morning this week to check on me and help dh with office work. She will let you know Wednesday morning how I'm doing. So, I'm covered. Except for this bad case of nerves! hehe
Love ya'll! Your prayers are appreciated.

Janice, I know you can't read this right now, but hopefully you will read it soon. I have been the tt route, and I promise, the pain is lighter every day! If you feel like crap today, just wait until tomorrow, it really does get better. Once you have those awful drains removed, you will feel tons better. They don't hurt to come out, btw, just much nicer without them!
DO NOT over do it. Just rest as much as the doc says, you don't want to mess up those stitches. You'll be back at it in no time!!
Congratulations on the new you!

Sorry it's taken so long to let ya'll know what's going on - or should I say what did and didn't happen. Susie wanted to post but until today I wasn't sure.
The good news - I'm sitting here with perky purple puppies. :smug: Not near as sore as I had imagined I would be. Actually I have to remind myself I've just had major surgery!
The bad news - no lipo or TT - yet! :p
Seems as tho they almost lost me on the table chickies! How's that for falling right into my "luck" category! :dizzy:
Those of you with more medical knowledge than I have can probably offer more detail if I provide the basics, so, here goes. Obviously I was a nervous wreck Tuesday morning. The pre-op room was wonderfully serene, little waterfalls, lovely music and "drugs" LOL My blood pressure was fluctuating a bit and they gave me something to calm me down. We went to the OR and things were going well then my blood pressure was up again (I think she said around 161) so they put some other drug in my IV - still all was fine until they released the next shot of anesthesia (they released it in 15 minute intervals). Well, I went to 30 beats? Guess the normal is 70-100. They took me off the anesthesia - finished my left booby up under local - and by the time I came out of it the ambulance was there to transfer me to hospital (next door). The EKG turned out fine but now Dr. Yarish wants me to do a stress test just as a reassurance. I've been back to him twice since Tuesday and things are "looking up" on these puppies - but future surgery will be scheduled following the stress test.
Is this my luck or what? I do thank God that I selected a surgeon that instead of plunging ahead with the more extensive surgery after I was stabilized had the sense to put my safety first.
I'm not concerned over having a heart condition though. The EKG was fine. I really think that the "drugs" overwhelmed me. I don't even take tylenol. And here I am full of all kinds of stuff. I know that I have a sensitivity to over the counter things. The anesthesiologist (sp?) said it's a standard "cocktail" and in doing over 14,000 surgeries has never seen this happen. All of my blood work was excellent, so, I think I'm just one in 14,000 !:D
Thanks for your prayers and hugs ladies! We'll be going thru this again just as soon as I get the clearance from the cardiologist!
Love ya'll

sounds like complete heart bock! that can be really neat to see under the right circumstances and certainly livable (we had a homelss guy come in with a HR of 30 for a pacer) but most will pass out as he heart is not pumping enough blood. it may have been stress but what ever you do need to have it checked out. thank god you had a good doc!!! and lankgod your puppie are perky atleast some thing got done while under!!!

Ohhhh, Janice! I am glad everything is ok!! Have you ever had surgery before? When can you get the stress test? At least you got your puppies to match before they took you next door. When he plans the other surgeries, will those be done in the hospital instead, under the circumstances? Glad it is all going better for you now, we've been going nuts wondering about ya!
Love and hugs!

Yes Sue, I vaguely recall something about a heart block.
No, I've never had any type of surgery before. Even my babies were all born natural. (Thank God they were quickies! lol ) And I'm afraid that I honestly do not take even over the counter things unless I'm suffering miserably. I can't even take Tylenol Sinus because I feel like I'm on some kind of psychodelic drug! So, I find it easier to suffer thru it than the affects that meds have on me. Guess I should've shared that info in my interview with the anesthesiologist, huh?
Jennifer, I'll still have the TT and lipo done at Dr. Yarish's facility. It's ranked as one of the highest rated private facilities in the nation so I have complete confidence there. And, with the hospital being right next door it's another comfort. Going into the next surgery tho we all know that I am very sensitive to the "standard drug cocktail" so I'm sure it will be monitored closely. Also, I am not anywhere near as nervous as I was. I now have a better idea of what to expect and complete confidence in the surgical team.
I've an approintment with a cardiologist on Wednesday for a consultation and second EKG-just to get things started. I return to Dr. Yarish for another check up on Thursday and he'll then give me permission for my puppies to go thru the stress test (if cardio thinks it's necessary). After that we'll reschedule the TT and lipo. Dr. Yarish did assure me that if all goes well he'll get me scheduled in within a week of clearance even if it's not on his surgical procedure days. I promise you this man and his staff are true rarities in the medical field. When you're ready wish you could use them. Maybe I'll qualify as a nurse assistant by then and you could recoup at my house?
Sue-can you explain a bit more about the block? From what I can recall, they administered some kind of "block" after the blood pressure meds. Oh shoot, I've prob got it all mixed up. But with the EKG coming back normal, doesn't it just sound like a drug overdose? Oh goodness - I've had my fill of drug affects the last few years! lol
Love to ya'll!
Oh, I'm just curious - do you realize exactly what's involved in a breast reduction? Pretty interesting! Actually, I shouldn't be so purple but the pharmacy gave me a generic pain killer drug which had a dirivitive of codein in it. Guess what I'm allergic to??? So, it took about five hours of drive heaves to get it out of my system and that's what worsened the bruising! I got to actually sleep in my bed last night instead of the recliner! heavenly !!

good heavens, janice!!!!! cardiology isn't my strong suit, but what sue says makes sense. and remember, even though you THINK you're overweight, you're actually a tiny person, and apparently this wasn't the right anesthesia cocktail for you.
so, thank goodness for a great doc, and take your time about the rest of the surgery. we don't want to lose you.
