Good morning all! It has been a tough on plan week for me since I had to eat out a lot. I think I am going to skip weigh in today because I know it will just frustrate me!
I have been doing the Walk Away the Pounds one mile walk for several weeks and I switched to the 2 mile this morning. I did it without the weights, so I will have to work up to that. It wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think I will do the 2 mile on Sat and Sun and the one mile on weeknights when I have less time.
Have a great on plan weekend all!

yikes! Last night, we went out to eat at Applebee's, and I made the best choice I could: santa fe chicken salad (the only one without FRIED chicken in it!), half portion, with lowfat ranch dressing, no sour cream, no guac. And I'm "up" two lbs today :( I also had some crackers. Hopefully I'll be able to lose this before my goal's up. I've been yo-yo-ing back and forth around 153, so it looks like I'll stick to my original goal.
Arrgh. I hate setbacks. They make me want to eat more :( I think if I can make it through today (Sunday, my hardest day) I will be able to stay OP for the next week.
Congrats to everyone staying OP :) It's tough to get out and exercise when it's getting colder outside. Does anyone have tips for the snowy months? I'm not sure what I'll do for exercise when they come along :) Tapes?

Hi all!
I've had a terrible week! I didn't stay OP for one day all week! Today i'm back and I haven't had anything I shouldn't so i'm keeping my fingers crossed. lol Someone saw me half dressed this morning and told me I look like i've put on some pounds! YIKES! I also didn't go weighed not one day last week, i'll go and face the music tomorrow.
Diane- hope you feel better!
Jibbelle- congrats on moving up to 2miles!
xYTx- sorry about the setbacks, congrats on trying to make a good food choice in the midst of great food! Maybe it's just water weight. So did you remain OP Sun? I'm having a hard time staying on path.

Well, I wasn't OP yesterday either, but today I'm back on track. I realized winter is coming (with snow. Yuck!), so I bought a new workout video. I really like to dance, and the only dance workout tape at Target was Paula Abdul's Get Up and Dance. It's difficult to learn the steps the first time, and I couldn't make it all the way through the tape, but it was fun. I'm on the hunt for other dance tapes for the snowy months.
Kathy - we pick ourselves up and start again :) Hopefully we'll both stay OP today. Even though I had a lot of "bad" foods yesterday, they didn't make me feel as good as I thought they would. Being OP feels so much better than a momentary dessert... I just wish I could ALWAYS think that way :) Let's shoot for an op week :)

Good morning all!
I have been lurking off and on for a couple months. I have been on LAWL for about two months. I have done okay, but the last couple weeks I had to be out of town and ate out a lot. I didn't make the best choices and the scale showed it. I haven't gained, but I haven't lost either. I am back on track now and moving forward.
This seems a positive place where we can support each other and help us pick up and start again when we falter.

Hi Hannah,
Glad to have you join our group. I've been on LAWL since the beginning of September, and this board has been great. Keep posting and keep reading, it really helps.
As for everyone else, great to see everyone is getting back on track & exercising. I've been traveling this week, so I haven't been exercising. I've stayed on program though at least. Made it to the twenty pound mark on Saturday & I feel fabulous! Have a great week.

Hello Ladies, I need help. This is the most frustrated that I have been since starting LA. I gained a couple pounds and it was all because I didn't have self control this weekend and ate sweets! Now I'm paying for it and am quite unhappy. In my head it is worse I am sure that what my body is, but I need encouragement. How do you ladies get back OP once you are off. How do you motivate yourself?

Erin -
It sometimes takes me a couple of weeks of getting op, failing, getting op again, failing again, etc... to motivate me. This last time, I've gained a pound or two back, and I'm in the same boat. Kathy and I have made a pact this time to go this week OP. Join us! :) I check back in every day right before bed, when I can't eat anything else. It also helpe me to keep a chart of the week where I mark if I've been OP, my weight, and whether I exercised or not.
One more day OP! Two down, 5 to go... I think if we make it through the week, we'll be able to get back on track :)

I know I shouldn't get frustrated by seeing the scale move up....but it makes me crazy!
I monitor myself by my home scale as well as the one at LAWL, and between Mon and Tuesday, I was down a full pound (after a full day on program and a mean aerobics class), then yesterday I was OP again and did an hour kickboxing class, and this morning I was UP a pound on the scale!!!!
I know it is not much, but it is just so frustrating. What did I do differently yesterday to make the scale go up??? I was OP, drank my water, exercised at the SAME time as Monday.
I can see if I was cheating and had myself to blame, but I'm NOT!!!
Anyone else get frustrated like this???

Cheer-
I get frustrated all the time!!
What kind of scale do you have? If it is a $15 Target scale like mine, it probably isnt very accurate! Either way, dont let daily weigh ins get you down. Your weight fluctuates during the day and during the week. I am addicted to my daily weighs, but I think they are more discouraging than helpful!
I fell off the wagon for over a couple weeks and gained a pound. I was having tons of cravings and eating too many snacks and meals out. But, I am back on again and doing well. Actually, I had a great yesterday and I am going to do just as well today. I think I can mend the damage done by Saturday. We will see!
I would love to break the 200 pound mark before I have to buy a wedding dress. I am planning on dress shopping in May. That is a very realistic goal if I just stick to the plan!!! 30 lbs in 6 months....5 lb a month. Very attainable! I think that is what I am shooting for!

You made me laugh....I'm not sure if my scale is the $15 Target one..but its certainly not top of the line! I make myself crazy with all the weighing in....I want to take my wedding band off, since it might weigh .0001 ounce!!!
I think 5 lbs per month is definitely do-able. Wedding planning is such fun time...enjoy it!!!
And what wonderful motivation for your weight loss, to see yourself as a thinner bride!!!

hi guys.
Cheer, i totally know what you mean about being frustrated with the daily fluctuations. I myself am a scaleaholic and probably weigh at a minimun of 5 times a day. one thing i have noticed with my workouts is that sometimes it seems to make me go up a half pound or more. i think it's because i lose so much fluid when i sweat that when i drink water my body tends to hold onto the extra fluid for longer than normal. then, there will be a couple of three days when i'm traveling and don't make it to the gym, but i'll register a significant loss when i go to my weigh in. it does get discouraging, but i truly think we're better off in the long run for exercising while we try to reach our goal weight.
Er, i know it's hard to get back on track after falling off program, but you can totally do it. you're doing so well...i bet you can have those extra pounds off in a couple of days. it can be hard to stay on program...sometimes it seems like it's even harder for me to stay on program if i've been losing well. i think i get cocky and decide that i can have a little extra this or that because obviously i'm just going to lose it right of way. of course, that backfires! for instance, i was so happy i hit my 20 pound mark that i went a little overboard yesterday with some triscuits and hummus...today i'm up .25 pounds. now, i'm not saying that i shouldn't have had say two triscuits and a tbsp of hummus (certainly better than eating a bag of chips and cheese dip) but i got carried away. that's one thing about LAWL that i really like. this program has made me realize that too many calories, no matter where they come from, are going to make me gain weight.
just realized i'd been rambling! sorry.

Only thing that i'm having extra are 18small pretzels today (I believe they are 1pt according to WW standards, and being an ex-WW member I chose those to help my nausea go away) so i'm picking up where I left off from Mon. Hi guys. I've been lurking here for quite awhile and I'm impressed by the support and good vibes I get from reading each post. I'm a 35 year old married mother of three. I started L.A. Weight Loss 2 weeks ago and I've lost 6 pounds. I am pleased with the program so far and I really like the "accountability factor" of having to go in three times a week. I've cheated twice already though. Last Friday my hubby and I went out for dinner and I ended up having buffalo wings and bruchetta. So on Monday l was up 2 pounds. I lost it by Wecnesday. Then tonight my sister-in-law came down, we ordered pizza and, of course, I can't just eat one piece. I think I ate five!!! When I go off plan in my mind I tell myself, "Well, I've already cheated I may as well go hog wild". Does anybody else do this too? Has anybody had a lot of success on this plan while still having a "cheat day" every couple of weeks? Is it possible to be still do well while doing this? I'm just so mad at myself for doing this. Anyway, looking forward to hearing from all of you. Thanks, Suecat

Good morning!
I have been doing the good week followed by a no loss week or worse yet, a small gain week. So this makes for little progress. It all has to do with the eating out and eating a little too much. I am having so much trouble keeping on the course with consistency.
I wonder if doing a 2-day takeoff would help me get going? I haven't ever done one. What have your experiences been?

Hi suecat, welcome! Regarding your post, i've noticed that i can usually do little cheats every once and a while with no effect, but that if i eat way too much or have too many cheats at one time, i gain. My usual allowed cheat is on Saturday afternoon or night. I weigh in on Saturday morning and then not again until Tuesday. That way, even if i have something I'm not supposed to, it's usually gone by Tuesday. I wouldn't worry too much about the pizza spree, I've found that after about the first month or so, that even if i did cheat, i couldn't eat near as much as before i started LAWL. I mean, I eat full meals on LAWL, but i never eat until I'm stuffed like the old days. Hope this helps.
Yinyang, the 2 day take off worked for me, but i was pretty miserable while i did it. I took a four day trip to Chicago and ate pretty much everything I wanted. When I got back, i did the two day takeoff, and i was actually down a pound at my next weigh in. For me, it worked like damage control. I have to say i wasn't too happy about what i was eating when i was on the takeoff though, it's pretty scanty portions.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and stays on program. I'm heading to a couple of halloween parties, so it'll be hard to stay on track. wish me luck.0

I slithered into my center this morning after being on hiatus for 2wks. I gained 3# back, not that bad considering the crap that i've been eating.
I CAN NOT EAT ONE MORE LA LITE OR I'M GOING TO PUKE! I'm so sick of the lites! I think I have like 15boxes left. I HATE them! I've tried just about every flavor and I hate them all. I miss my beloved Luna bars! I only eat the lites because I paid for them. Does anyone else have this problem of paying for the lites and getting sick to their stomachs everytime they eat one?

I enjoyed the food but made wiser decisions than I ever had in my life which is a very encouraging thing to see, but it is frustrating knowing that when I go to weigh in Monday the scale may not show a loss or even worse will show a gain:( I enjoy eating way too much to give up everything, but I want to make good choices. I also, got some of the LA lite soups. those i like. Not to crazy about the shakes though. Hey guys. Well, I made it through the Halloween parties this weekend. I didn't do too badly, although i did have two mini cream puffs...definitely not on my food plan. :T and...a couple of beers...:o again, not smiled upon by the LAWL food ****s...the good news is that i was down .25 pounds at my weigh in this morning. that means i'm only .75 pounds away from my halloween goal. so, i'll be eating very strictly for the next couple of days and trying to get in some extra water and exercise.
it's so hard to stay motivated after time change, i hate how early it gets dark. is anybody else having this problem?
also, it's the week before my TOM. typically, this is the week i retain lots of water and my weight will be up and down all week. ugh!
hey jibbelle, i know what you mean about being up because of the change in wardrobe. and, even when you know the reason you're up, it's still depressing. just look at it this way though, when you go in next time, the scale will register a loss because regardless of the jeans, you are losing. do you have a scale at home that you weigh on?

Jeans!!! Heavens no!!! My center told me never to wear jeans...they are the heaviest!! Actually, I have been bringing shorts and a t shirt. A lot of people at my center do it--they let you change in their bathroom. I'll be in there in a tank top and shorts in the dead of winter! ;)
I have a question about frozen meals. I rely on them a lot, since I work full time, and after getting to the gym after work, who has time to cook and eat before bedtime!! (esp since we are not supposed to eat hours before going to bed!)
Anyway, I noticed that there are no WW Smart Ones meals on the Fasttracker. Now, I understand for obvious reasons, why they would not include WW meals on their plan (wouldn't want us to defect and go to their competition), but other than that, is there any reason why we can't have those meals? Any ideas??

Our LAWL center is just putting out a new plan called Weekends Off...do you have it too? What do you think about it? If you haven't heard about it yet, it's where on Saturday and Sunday you get less protein for the day and less fruit, but you can have "cheater" foods (i.e, pringles, reduced fat oreos, chips ahoy, fritos etc..) My husband and I are trying to decide if we'll like this or not...will we be more encouraged to cheat during the week? I'm interested to see how it's going to work. Just wondering what everyone else is going to do.

After my cheatin' weekend, I'm starting the Hollywood Juice today. I'm trying out the new berry flavour, too. I hope it's not too gross :)
So, how does it go at LA? Juice 3x a day diluted, only raw green veggies and lean proteins all day? I seem to recall that.

I think the weekends off is a great idea. I asked my center if the plan still works, even though you are on your "off" foods...they said that corporate tested it and it does, in fact, work.
I have no problem sticking to the program during the week, but am never that good on weekends...at least now when I am cheating, I will be "cheating" with approved foods.
I was so excited to see pizza on the menu!!!
Let's face it, LAWL is a pretty restrictive diet...to think of not having a piece of pizza until I'm at goal is a scary proposition:o

There are a couple different juice plans...the 3 day that I always did had unlimited green veggies and lean proteins. No bars/shakes.

The one I did was like yours, Jibbelle. No bars/shakes, but unlimited proteins and veggies. I may opt for the other, however, since I've gotten really attached to my after-work lite chocolate fix.
BTW: The berry flavor is much better in my opinion than the orange. It tastes a little like cranberry juice with pears. Not bad at all.

WOOHOO! I reached my minigoal. I'm so proud of myself, that's going to be my motivation to stay away from the candy on Halloween. 25 pounds, here I come.
Thanks for all the support you guys.
I'll have to decide what my next minigoal will be. It seems like these minigoals really keep me motivated and keep me from focusing on how much I have left to lose.

Hi all!
Still not doing good! I plan to do the juice this Sun and Mon coming and see how that works out for returning me to my diet sanity. So xytx, i'll be starving with ya hon!
Gringa- congrats on meeting your goal! I'm so happy for you!
The weekends off plan is very interesting, I wonder what kind of menu you'd have during the week though. Maybe it's a starch free during the week and then weekends is off to whatever you wanted? Hmm, i'll ask my center.

I wanted to say that I am sooo happy to find you! I was surprised that the LA Weightloss website was not more substantial. About the Take Off, I was told at my center that you only do the 3 day program if 1) you are just starting or 2) you have been off program for over a month. They said you would not have as good as results as you would with the 2 day program. So here I am...drinking water and eating egg whites. :s: I am waiting for Friday morning when I can have a biscotti for breakfast. How often do you do the 2-day plan? My center said you could do it every 2 weeks. Has anyone done that?
Thanks
Jen

Gringa- I've caught on to your mini-goals...I like that idea. It makes the long haul seem a lot more palatable!!
So, my mini goal is to be 150 by November 29th...my high school reunion!! I was a size 4 in high school, now I'm a size 14! That's 6 lbs in a month, I think I can do it!
As for the weekends off, my center told me that you follow your regular plan during the week, but to get the most fat loss, you should stick more to the unlimited starches during the week.
Good luck everyone...we can do it!!!!

Well, I made it through day ONE of the juice diet. I hate it. It always makes me feel lousy :( BUT I'm desperate to get back on track, and this is the way to do it.
I can't wait to find out about this weekends off business :) I miss chinese food so much... even more than peanut butter and bananas. Doing TakeOff on Halloween's going to be a little rough. Come to find out, the hospital I work in is having a little party tomorrow. With food. And I signed up to make brownies. I may just buy them on the way to work or skip it completely. I just can't trust myself right now :b

You can buy the "No Pudge" brownies. They are made with the mix and fat free yogurt. They are low fat, as far as brownies go.

But they're not vegan ;) I didn't mention that I'm making vegan brownies so that everyone can enjoy them (we have a few vegetarians/vegans at work.). Unfortunately, low-cal often means high in weird chemicals and sweeteners. Health stores sell vegan equivalents to lots of dairy, egg, and meat products, but they're pretty high in calories to make them taste like the "real thing." Maybe someday when vegetarian/vegan diets are more common, we'll have low-cal animal-free products :) But that's probably a long way off.
I'm baking this morning after all :) I think I can keep my resolve. I have my two Luna Bars for the day, after all. I'll just keep busy today.

Hi everyone-
I lost .4 today at my weigh in this morning....then I went to my Halloween luncheon at work and although I didn't go crazy, I did have a 1/2 a turkey wrap, salad with regular dressing (about 2 T worth) and a brownie (I couldn't resist)
I know that this is not the end of the world...but I want your opinions on this.
When I "cheat" early in the day, I try to compensate later in the day...like I will just have some fruit/veggies for dinner, and will forgo my afternoon LA Lite. But, the LAWL center told me to continue eating the rest of my foods and get them all in even after a "cheat"
What do you think?

I just realized this post has additional pages. I was only getting the first page.
The weekends are my toughest time. I was given the weekends off but I am afraid that I might go overboard with the starches. I have lost a total of 5 pounds in 3 weeks. They are really pushing the 2 pound a week thing.
I am getting sick of the bars as well. When I signed up, I was under the impression that you had to use the bars.
I am still trucking along. Good luck.
I will be around a lot more since I figure this post out.

HI Everyone:
Welcome meltin using the bars is part of the program. I am nervous about the weekend off thing also our center is not doing it until next week. Great with the five pounds. I really did not lose two pounds a week and no one really pushed me do it.
He Kathy how are you doing?
Marcie did you get back on track?
I made it through Halloween without any candy, Iam glad that over.
Have a good day

Today is my weigh in day and I hope I can be down some. I feel kind of stuck at 12-13#s gone. I just have been going back and forth.
I was going to do a 2 day juice take off, but didn't get the juice. Maybe this week. I will wait to see if I got the scale moving otherwise.
This program works, if I can get my head in the right place. For me that is the main thing. Everything is good if I am mentally in the right place. Why is this so hard?

I am on the Gold Plan and the new Weekends Off gives you 4 oz. protein, 3 veg, 2 fruits, 4 starches, 2 fats, 4 oz skim milk amd 2 lites. She said you can have 2 starches at the same time, but I can't remember if they are the limited or unlimited. I wish they would put out sample menus.

I don't want to undermind what Jibble wrote a couple days ago, but I want you all to know that at least here in MI and also in IN where I have a friend on the plan the bars are not mandatory. When they presented the program they said optional along with all of the material. They will pressure you to buy them though. :s: Sneaky! But if you ask them to modify the plan so that you do not have to buy the bars I think they pretty much have to. Now I enjoy the bars (not the price though). They keep my cravings away for the most part. Just wanted you all to know what I found out.

Wow, they never had the weekend off plan when I was doing the plan. And with 4 starches in stead of 2 that's great. But for me I don't know if that would work. I find if I ate more startches then I should then crave them even more. And the weekend thing wouldn't work for me either. I am like a carbo junkie and I would just go overboard and would be off my plan, totaly.

At my center, you can refuse the bars, too. I didn't do it, because I like them, but now that I found Luna Bars (with the same nutritional values) I won't be buying any more of LA's. I think it would work if you explained to them that the bars make you feel crappy. Make it a health issue, and they have to back down.

I love the luna bars but they are so expensive. So I am doing granola bars. I am sure that they aren't as good as the luna bars
