Here is where you get to know your team mates! Just a reminder, chatting is not required to be part of the challenge, although it is strongly suggested!

Here is your Team:

KimL1214 (Team Leader)

09-06-2010, 12:59 AM
Hey all.. WOO I made my prediction of weighing in at 197 this morning!! I still can't believe I'm under 200.. doesn't feel real.. didn't workout today since I worked an 11-8 shift.. yuck, but being on my feet all day at work is enough of a work out. Planing on going to the gym tomorrow.. maybe a bike ride I dont have to work until 5pm so I got the whole day to do stuff..

09-06-2010, 01:12 AM
Isn't it nice to FINALLY see a number that doesn't start with 2??! I was super excited then too. Now I would like to see 17? ... in time it will happen lol.

09-06-2010, 10:10 PM
BassAckwards~ It will happen soon! You're doing amazing, just keep pushing along!

JessicaRT~ Congrats on your loss!!!

How was everyone's holiday? I'm sorry about the chat thread switch, I like to switch them up each week though so I can see how talkative each team is and will know if there are some changes and merges that need to be made. However, due to the confusion, nexts weeks chat thread will be the last chat thread of the challenge and will be for weeks 3-6. SOOOO, I will post another link like I did this week, as well as remind everyone throughout the week.
Long night at work and I still need to get myself prepared for tomorrow! Back to school with the kiddos!!! Have a great night everyone!

09-07-2010, 12:11 AM

holy moly, is the summer over already?

this week, I'm really trying to stay on plan. I am in the 250's for the first time in over a year, and i want to keep going!

09-07-2010, 05:41 AM
Ugh, I'm a day late weighing in again >.<
on the good side, I'm down 6 pounds, I believe it's water from TOM but hey. 8 pounds to go before I'm back at my lowest ever weight. (from about 4 years ago)

09-07-2010, 10:29 AM
WTG Sakai!!

Kim- thank you so much for all your work on this challenge! I know it's not easy and you're busy!

Dcap- that's a big accomplishment! It's discouraging for me b/c I was at 150 earlier this year

I just finished my egg white omelet, watching the news, I've got to leave in a few to take my 2 y/o to preschool and then go to a meeting. It's throws off my normal schedule, I normally run right after I drop him off, but I'll have to go back and run after my meeting, so maybe I won't have to fight for a treadmill. Luckily both schools and gym are on the same street, if I had time I could walk but I'm going to be in a time crunch.

I am trying not to weigh everyday like I did last week, it drove me batty, my weigh day is tomorrow.

My counselor appt. wasn't great, I think I may look for someone else which is annoying b/c I'm so ready to make some progress and have some help with it.

I'm sorry if all I am doing is venting, I am so OCD and this waiting game for school is driving me batty. I am 99% sure I got in, but I want details!! I don't even know the exact start date or orientation date, I want to know what I have to get done before we start. I will feel so much better once I get that figured out!

09-07-2010, 03:22 PM
Hey everyone
Enjoy Labor Day weekend? I worked, but monday I got double time! So I'm excited to see my check... I weigh my self everyday just to get a feel for my weight loss. I know up and down is okay, but after sundays weigh in I've been around 198.. today I'm 198.4... I'm hoping cardio at the gym and then being on plan will help.. its just aggravating to see 197 on sunday only and then I'm back up.. uhg

I burned 1000 calories yesterday at the gym and I'm hoping to do the same again today

09-07-2010, 05:21 PM
ellie- hang in there! you're doing great!

jessica - 1000 calories?!?! Daaaammmmnnn!

today was the day from ****, day 3 in the week from ****. I really hope this changes soon!

09-07-2010, 06:40 PM
Yeah I do an hour on this machine at the gym and on a good day I can do 1000 calories.. today I think maybe it was the rain... but I could only do 700 and then just abs..

09-07-2010, 10:30 PM
dcapulet~ Oh no!!! What's going on??? Is everything okay???

JessicaRT~ 1000 calories is awesome! You might be just holding on to some water weight from all that burnage, so no biggie.

ellie6388~ I hope you hear from the school soon! Did you end up getting your run in? Life is pretty chaotic right now, but I love these challenges, thank you!

Sakai~ Congrats on your 6lb. loss!!! Hopefully we'll be able to count your next loss this coming week! If you have a hard time remembering on the weekends, you could always weigh in a day or two early.

So I randomly decided to not just walk my normal hour, but go for my 4.7 mile walk tonight and try to shave some time off from my last 83 minute walk. I only managed to take 2 minutes off, but I'm still happy with it, as I plan on trying to kill it again either later this week or at the beginning of next week. The scale has been all over between yesterday and today. I actually was annoyed when I saw 261 on there earlier... until I realized that 2 weeks ago, I would have been okay with it. A month ago, really happy.

I'll have final stats up tomorrow morning!!!

09-08-2010, 03:12 AM
Sakai – 6lbs is awesome!! Congrats

ellie6388 – Sorry to hear about your counselling appt. One of my friends sees a counsellor every week and she thinks half the battle is finding someone you feel you can just completely open up to. Hopefully you can find someone soon.

dcapulet – Why has your week been so horrible? With any luck this is only a short term thing?

JessicaRT – 1000 is an amazing effort. What type of machine are you using?

KimL1214 – I’m always amazed at how long you can walk for. Anything over 20mins and I’m ready to pack it in.

Confession time! I haven’t had the best start to Week 2. I went over my calories by about 500 thanks to a Caramel Kit Kat Chunky & Nutella. That’s the first time in 5 weeks that I’ve done anything like that. An incredibly stressful day seemed to have gotten the better of me but I’m on track today and that’s what counts.

09-08-2010, 09:29 AM
Hey everyone! This is my first time really jumping in on the chat thread. I hope that everyones weeks are going okay... happy hump day!! Work for me has been crazy busy... I work in politics so of course this is our busiest time of the year leading up to the Primaries and Election day. This past weekend I went camping in the Adirondacks with some friends. It was a good time and luckily the rainy weather held off for us. We did LOTS of hiking. On Saturday we climbed two mountains (one was 2 miles round trip the other was 4 miles) and then on Sunday when we were sore and tired we decided to go on an easier hike that was supposed to be 2.5miles but turned out to be 7.5 miles!! Whoa! I thought for sure when I got home I would have dropped a whole bunch of weight... but no such luck. I was exactly the same. Saw a pretty good drop today though so maybe it was just delayed.

Sounds like a few of you are still in school? How's it going being back to the grindstone?

Where is everyone from?

Talk to you later Team Athena!

09-08-2010, 11:38 AM
I'm struggling this week already. My boyf is back living with me after 3 months of being apart for the summer (we were working 200 miles apart), which resulted in NO loss last week...and if I keep on the way I'm going I'll end up putting on weight this week! ARGH! I cannot let myself get back in to 190s!!!!!!

Need to re-focus. :dizzy:

09-08-2010, 11:53 AM
dayoneagain~ Is your bf on the same page as you food wise or is that something you are working on with him? My ex never ate healthy and that was actually one thing that ended up ending us as he did not see the importance of helping me lose weight.

AllyBride2011~ Your body was probably holding on to some water weight after all that hiking. It's good to see you!

oOPeanutOo~ Once every few weeks is no big deal as long as it stays that way, so I wouldn't feel too guilty about it. I LOVE walking as it is my escape from all the drama and stress. I always feel so much better afterwards!

So I'm wearing some pants I haven't been able to wear in a couple years. They're a lil snug at the waist, but super loose in the legs. One of my friends and I are supposed to be going to Olive Garden tonight, but I may back out due to fear of eating at a place with VERY little healthy food.

Going to do some research to see what I CAN eat...

09-08-2010, 01:24 PM
The machine I use is called an Arc Trainer by CYBEX.. its supposed to be better than a regular elliptical... and I think it is.. you can range from 1-10 on incline and 1-100 on resistance.. I usually do 5 incline and 20 resistance.. and once I put my weight in the 20 resistance is a bit harder.

I finally weighed in at 197 again.. this time 197.2.. uhg so close.. I really REALLY want a starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte today.. just that kind of weather, but I'm gonna be good!

09-08-2010, 05:03 PM
dayoneagain~ Is your bf on the same page as you food wise or is that something you are working on with him? My ex never ate healthy and that was actually one thing that ended up ending us as he did not see the importance of helping me lose weight.

Oh no, he's great - very supportive and doesn't bring things into the house that are on my banned list and we even exercise together sometimes. He's never had any weight issue and is naturally toned and stuff so it's not really on his list of priorities, but he does eat any healthy food I cook. There's nothing he does that gets me off track, other than being too fun and a food=fun trigger!

Something I need to overcome, for sure.

09-08-2010, 06:56 PM
Hi ladies -

honestly, this has just been murphy's law - anything that can go wrong does.

Problems with the move, and new apt
Static with getting the kids into a new school district
Issues with incompetents at work and school
today, problems at the hotel my boss reserved for me

sorry to ***** - i'm just at the limit.

Deep breathing, yoga, and good movies tonight!

09-08-2010, 10:50 PM
dcapulet~ YIKES!!! Sorry to hear things are so frustrating right now!

dayoneagain~ LOL, does he have a brother??? I know how fun=food can be, and it is a big challenge, but you can definitely conquer it!

JessicaRT~ Sounds like an awesome machine!

Sooooo Olive Garden was a horrible idea and I'm hoping it hasn't set me too far back, but I definitely have some ground to make up after tonight.

I'm plannin on getting up early tomorrow to get in an extra walk to start working towards burning some of the million calories I ate tonight, so good night ladies!!!

09-08-2010, 11:11 PM
The hard part of my week is over! I had 2 super busy days of work and now the next two days will be really slow. Awesome! lol

I really need to start doing some sort of toning work out ... or any work out for that matter. I haven't really been heavy into exercise the last few months and I really feel like I should start toning some of my flabby-ness if it's at all possible. Not sure what types of things I should do though.

Any ideas? :) I need to tone my arms ... legs are ok but could use some work. For some reason my legs have always been fairly lean compared to the rest of me. My STOMACH is the worst though.

09-09-2010, 07:53 AM
Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much, I keep meaning to come by and join the discussion and then I forget. Sorry!

Bass, I have the same issues. My legs are in great shape but I have always done a lot of walking (no car!). My arms seriously need some work and I am hoping to firm up my stomach too. I'm doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women which is supposed to give pretty good results for about 30 mins, 3x/week. I'm only on week 2 so can't say yet, but I did notice that yesterday I was able to do 6 proper push ups in the first round, then 7 in the second, when last week I could only do 4 without falling on my face and didn't even attempt a second round! Here's hoping I continue to improve that quickly. Good luck!

dcapulet - I'm sorry things aren't going well. I hope next week is better for you. Things will work out!

Jessica - I've never had a pumpkin spice latte - does it taste like pumpkin?!

I've posted my weight for the week because I am going camping this weekend and won't have access to a scale. We are going out near the Cotswolds (about 2.5 hours from us). I can't wait, I've not seen much of the Cotswolds before and we are camping in a field behind a charming little pub with local ale and cider. Thankfully I don't like either so my drinking will be limited, haha! I'm back to 148.6 after a slight (0.6lb) gain last week. As I had just started the New Rules of Lifting for Women I think that probably explained the gain but I am happy to be sitting back in the 148-region!

Onwards and downwards, ladies! Have a great weekend!

09-09-2010, 09:27 AM
I was down 2lbs on my weigh in yesterday!

I got my run in on Tuesday but it was bad, it was my 3rd day on that same run, I guess I just was trying to run too fast. Today is W5D1, I'm going to take these runs SUPER slow 4.0-4.5, I was trying to run as much as I could at 5.5 on Tuesday. I think it will be more doable.

Kim- WTG on all the walks, I'm glad you didn't cancel on Olive Garden, we've got to be able to go out with friends and either a) eat something healthy or b) eat something and get over it and get put on track. or we won't stick to it very long if we're missing out on things.

Jess- the ARC trainer sounds cool!

Dayone- your BF sounds like a gem!

Bass- glad your week is slowing down.

dcap- Sending good vibes your way :)

Freedom-have fun camping, I'm jealous :)

09-09-2010, 10:47 AM
KimL - Olive Garden is a toughie! Its amazing how many points even one breadstick is!! Applebees has some lower calorie options... so maybe that would work better? Pasta is so hard! I need to figure out a way to work it in somehow, someday!

JessicaRT - I think I've used that machine... it whips my butt! You know I bet you can find a healthier alternative to that latte... should check out hungry girl or something. Also, isn't starbucks the place with the "light" option? I know you can splurge on a frappacino light there for barely any pain.

Hope everyone is having a pretty good week so far! I have been super busy at work... didn't get out till 9 pm last night! 8am - 9pm is no fun at all. Had to run out to grab a quick dinner... turned to my standby subway. I <3 subway. :) My weigh in day is tomorrow hopfully the scale will tell me some good news this week. I know freddom is going camping this weekend, I'm working, what is everyone else doing? anything fun?!

It's gotten pretty chilly here... I think Fall is here. I need some new clothes desperately and my mom is pressuring me to go wedding dress shopping. I'm scared! I wanted to lose more weight first!

09-09-2010, 12:32 PM
AllyBride2011~ Normally pasta is something I only eat when I make it, because I don't trust how others make it and I never know how much oil, etc. restaurants use. I like the SmartTaste pasta as it is high in fiber, low in calories and tastes just like regular pasta. How was your weigh in today?

ellie6388~ CONGRATS on your loss!!! Great job sticking with C25K!!!

freedomreins~ AWESOME job with your push-ups! Have fun camping!!!

BassAckwards~ There are a lot of arm exercises you can do that don't even require weights. I used to do a lot of exercises with a chair and the railing of my bed. Check online, you'll find some good pics. I would try to describe them, but I have a feeling I might confuse you.

Olive Garden was definitely a disaster that I really don't want to elaborate on. We'll just say it was REALLY BAD! Soooo... Goal for today is to get a membership at one of the gyms in the same town as my work so I can start coming early and going after school, especially once the weather turns. Today has been pretty icky and wet, and there is no sign of a warm up any time soon. Fall is here I believe and within a month to a month and a half, we'll have our first snow fall! I really need to make sure I am OP and going strong with exercise before the weather turns, so that it won't be a struggle with exercise when it comes time where I can only use the gym.

09-09-2010, 06:01 PM
yeah it does taste like pumpkin.. I actually let myself have a small one.. but it wasn't as good as I remembered... it just didn't hit that spot yah know.. oh well.

This poopy weather has made me lose my motivation.. I'm usually up and out at the gym by 11 and Its already 2 oclock and I havn't done anything besides watch soap operas.. I think a bike ride is in need.. it's just so dark and gray outside..

09-09-2010, 06:06 PM
Any ideas? :) I need to tone my arms ... legs are ok but could use some work. For some reason my legs have always been fairly lean compared to the rest of me. My STOMACH is the worst though.

I watch Jillian Micheals on YouTUBE there are free workout and such..

armed and Dangerous (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fdt_R0VVZ34&p=9280909D3F43E345&playnext=1&index=13)

there are others like "Butt of course" etc...

09-09-2010, 07:48 PM
thanks all! i know things will get better, but it just felt like a sucker punch to have thing after thing after thing go wrong! today was a totally a better day :)

Jessica -THANK YOU for the pumpkin spice idea. I had one last night - YUM! Also, Starbucks is now offering the TRENTA? even BIGGER, more EXPENSIVE coffee? I saw it in the Plainville, CT store last night...

Ally - I was just thinking to myself today how much like Fall it feels. I know I wished the heat away, but dang! Fall already?

09-09-2010, 08:11 PM
I finally weighed in at 197 again.. this time 197.2.. uhg so close.. I really REALLY want a starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte today.. just that kind of weather, but I'm gonna be good!

I had one this morning! Non-fat, no whip! I LOVE these things ... however it is much tastier made the normal way I think. But i was trying to be somewhat 'good' lol.

09-10-2010, 01:03 AM
Hi All... I need a couple of ideas if possible. Iím catching up for dinner with a few friends on Saturday night and rather than head out like we normally would, I offered to cook at my place instead. This is mainly because I wanted to be able to control the calories seeing as the restaurants around me donít have calorie counts listed on the menu or their websites (Iím horrible at estimating as well). The only problem is that I have no idea what to cook. In the past I would have made a pasta dish and chocolate mousse but theyíre both super high in calories so I want to steer clear of them. Iíve tried changing the recipes for both but letís just say, no one would be going back for seconds. I would like to make a main and a dessert. What do you guys normally cook when you have company coming over?

09-10-2010, 02:20 AM
lol how many of you guys went out and had a pumkin spice latte?? Now I feel 3x guilty that I had one and everyone else did too.. lol.. I got no whip as well but I went with the half and half because it has no sugar in it like regular milk or non fat..

TRENTA!! Seriously like we need bigger cups of coffee?!

09-10-2010, 09:58 AM
Peanut- I'm thinking...

Jess- you can feel better... I did NOT get a punkin' latte!

Some of my friends are in town and I met up with them... at PF chang's. It was after I had already eaten but it was a couple hours later so I was a little hungry so I definitly slurged last night. I will probably splurge somemore this weekend. It's a girls retreat but luckily I'm not staying at the house with them so I can eat healthy when I'm on my own. Not sure if I'll get my run in tomorrow. I'm kinda feeling like I'm on a mini vacation, which is okay since I never get to do anything and I especially won't when school starts in a few weeks. Trying not to stress too much about it. It's real life, stuff is going to come up.

09-10-2010, 11:48 AM
ellie6388~ That's a great way to look at it! Life happens, and sometimes it gets in the way of weight loss, but the important thing is to not give up. Have fun this weekend!

JessicaRT~ LOL, I'm immune, I don't like any hot drinks except for tea, and occasionally a hot chocolate, but I have to be in the mood. Did you end up getting your bike ride in?

oOPeanutOo~ I love cooking for other people and often make either a stir fry or a homemade pizza on wheat. You could still do pasta, but grab the SmartTaste pasta instead, it tastes just like regular pasta, but it super high in fiber. Dessert is a lil tougher. My mom and I make a no bake cheesecake that we stole from a weight watchers recipe book. Or you could always fall back on Jell-O.

dcapulet~ How are things going today?

It's definitely Friday as I am super tired. I haven't figured out what I'm doing for dinner tonight yet as I'm not sure if I have to take my friend to Burlington or not after I get out of the gym (it's about 45 min. away). My fall back plan is to stop at Shaws on the way home and grab a salad if we do go, and if we don't... I have no idea.

I got a couple workouts in yesterday, including a walk on the treadmill at a 5% grade (I managed 5 min. at 10%), and a walk after dinner. I managed to do a face plant in front of the only people I saw during the walk. Of course I landed in a mud puddle and felt like a big dork. I didn't let that end my walk though, as I continues for another 2 miles even though I was covered in mud and some blood. I have one pretty decent scrape on one of my arms and on my hand, but other then that, I'm good. I am, however, furious with the town for paving up onto a curb (so it blends in with the road) and not marking it at all. Grrrrrrr... I also discovered that walking in the rain with glasses can be incredibly difficult as I was pretty much blind for the last mile with rain and fog on my lenses.

09-10-2010, 06:47 PM
Yeah I hade a great bike ride.. My boyfriend says we did 8miles!! I should look it up on mapmyride.... or something. definitely felt good to get moving.

I went to the gym today! yay.. I did 1020 cals in 72 min!!!! I felt great. I think cuz it's nice and sunny outside. I just made myself a sandwich with Ham, Cheddar, mayo, mustard, avocado, tomato, lettuce and olives, on whole wheat, but I can only eat half... I think working out so much has something to do with it.

oh btw those bagel thins that are 110 calories are supper yummy! You dont need as much cream cheese and they are perfect for a bagel sandwich!

09-10-2010, 11:24 PM
 all!

Time for my weekly (bi weekly?) checkin. :P School is dominating my life right now, I'm a freakin zombie! 0.o TOM showed up a few days ago and I'm all bloated and crap so no WL this week which is always better than a gain, right?

09-11-2010, 01:18 PM
Kim - much better today. Things are easing up some.

The plan for this weekend is to get some much needed food in this house, and exercise! its supposed to be a beautiful weekend, soo I'm going to enjoy it :)

09-11-2010, 03:12 PM
hey question.. when figuring out our body % loss do we take it from our first weigh in or our most current?

09-11-2010, 05:05 PM
JessicaRT~ Take it from your starting weight. Great job getting so much exercise in!

dcapulet~ How is your weekend so far?

JasonsLea~ TOM is always fun, no gain from it means you should see a loss next week!

I worked a morning shift at the restaurant today which is different as I usually work nights. My mom sings with a big women's group and they are having a concert tonight, which should be interesting. Nothing exciting going on otherwise. How is everyone doing this weekend? Any special plans to help keep you all OP?

**Don't forget to weigh in before 11:59PM tomorrow night!!!**

09-11-2010, 07:32 PM
UHG I totally forgot about TOM until just now.. maybe thats why I'm only down one pound.. well that makes me feel good.. I should be way down for next sunday!

09-11-2010, 10:49 PM
KimL1214 - Thanks for the suggestion of homemade pizza. Everyone was really happy with that idea. I wasn't as successful in making something low calorie for dessert so decided not to have any. No one noticed that I skipped dessert seeing as we we're having such a good time.

09-12-2010, 07:06 PM
well, as a bonus end to my week, I got sick. some sort of virus, I think. all i know is that i feel lousy, and am so full of clear liquids the scale says I have not lost any weight. so i "maintained" this week at 259.

on the bright side - it's a new week, and next WI may be a big loss! :)

09-12-2010, 09:04 PM
So I lost hardly anything this week ... but I guess I'll take it after 4 lbs last week. It has to even out somehow! lol

I ordered some jeans online and they came Friday ... I had ordered a size 12 because I have some 14's that were getting loose ... but I figured it would be at least a little bit before I could really wear them ... but NO they fit. Awesome. I haven't worn a size 12 since before high school I think.

Hope everyone had a good weekend! It is over much too quickly!

09-12-2010, 09:33 PM
Peanut- I'm glad you could find something to make, I like to make parfaits for dessert (berries and choc. pudding) it's pretty low cal. and very versatile, you could do yogurt or other fruit (peaches) Or mix the pudding with some fat free or sugar free cool whip for a fluffy texture, layer them in individual tall glasses or a big trifle bowl.

Jess- wtg on the workouts!! you're really moving!

Dcap- I hope you got some relaxation

Kim- hope work was alright for you!

I'm back! and on plan :) The girls weekend was fun and much needed. I've got so much mental stress going on in my life right now it was so nice just to "check out" for a couple days. Not to mention having something to do and being with my best friend. It was definitly a foodie weekend, but I am glad to back to my normal healthy food, I was thinking about it on the way home late last night, I hardly ate anything this weekend that nourished my body, and my body deserves better than that. I need to eat lots of fresh food this week and drown myself in water. TOM should be coming in the next few days, so hopefully I won't get too PMSish.
