He's a very nice dog. Very obedient and behaved. Pitbulls are known to have a bad reputation and many cities have banned them because of this.
It's ridiculous and people need to understand that it does not depend on the
breed of a dog, it's how you raise them. There's no way I would give up Clyde or let alone have him sent to a dog pound unless it's reasonable and necessary. However i'm certain that it won't be the case with him. He's a spoiled attention craving brat filled with nothing but love and doggie kisses. :)

You're absolutely right!!! It's all in their raising. If you raise a frigging chihuahua to be mean, hateful, and to fight then it's going to be mean, hateful, and it's going to fight. Pit bulls have gotten a bad reputation due to the way people breed and fight them...it's not the dogs' fault. And I'll tell you right now, I'd rather have a pit bull around ANYDAY over a chow!!!

Couldn't agree more.. My husband and I have 2 pitbulls in which we've had for about 3 years now - and we barely get barks out of them!

Cute puppy by the way :D

Dogs are a product of their environment, period. That may explain why mine are big goofballs. All breeds have their own natural tendencies true, but what comes out depends on what you encourage.

Pitties get this rep because irresponsable owners want big mean intimadating dogs... they want them to be mean. Then they can't control them and the dog ends up being put down for doing something it's been taught is right. Of course it's the owner who should be put down.

Up here pittie and staffie crosses are restricted... anything that isn't a purebred has to be muzzled and leashed any time it is off the owners property. It really hasn't helped the true problem of course. It's a shame that such a beautiful, loyal breed has been mistreated like this.

My own big goofy dog is a terrier cross of some sort, his DNA profile says it's bull terrier which is not restricted. The only thing that should fear him is cats and birds... his border collie half just gives him way to much prey drive.

This is so true! I wish people would understand this and stop demonizing this breed. Any dog can be dangerous if it grows up in a bad environment, although it's true that when a pitbull is aggressive, it is more dangerous than most dogs because of the way it is built. But pitbulls are no more likely to be naturally aggressive towards humans than any other breed; they're just more likely to be put in circumstances (dog fighting) where they develop aggressive behaviors. Pits are actually very playful and people-friendly and I love them!

BTW, your dog is a cutie pie! I used to have a Pit-Shepherd mix, but it ran away. :( For now I'm happy with my Rottie and German Shepherd (yes, I love big dogs, lol), but I'm hoping to have another pit sometime in the near future. :D

@BlueFlower haha she is adorable. right now Clyde is living in Texas where he's originally from. my brother might bring him to Arkansas when he comes to visit. hopefully he will so i can take more pictures and upload them.

@Belle sorry to hear about your dog running away. it's heartbreaking when you get attached to an animal and have it leave you to never be seen again.
i miss Clyde so much and can't wait to see him again. good luck on your search of finding another pit. they're such sweet dogs. :)

Oh my gosh, what a bunch of cuties! I worked with a dog rescue for a while that specialized in fostering and adopting pitties and I absolutely fell in love with the breed. We have a VERY old golden right now and she is cranky in her old age and did not like have all the puppies and dogs around.
But someday, I will own a pit!

Gorgeous dogs. This is making me miss my pittie. Brutus was such a good dog but he would jump on my mom and my mom has prednisone skin, which makes her skin really thin and easy to tear, so I had to give him away. :(
I totally agree it's how they're raised but even some dogs who have had crummy treatment can turn out to be great. Brutus, when I first found him, was nearly starved to death but he was the kindest dog you'd ever wanna meet. Scared the **** out of the mailman though, lol. Every time anyone came onto the porch, he'd jump on the door and try to give them kisses. They thought he was gonna bite them but he wasn't.

I love pits, and I agree that some dogs, even if they've been dealt a hard life, still make wonderful pets. The story I share with pit-haters is this one:

I worked in an SPCA shelter. There were dog fighting rings around, and they were always being busted and usually the dogs who were fighters were immediately put down due to their extreme dog aggression. Then there was Sadie. She came in after a fight ring was broken up. She appeared to be a full-blooded pittie, and was dark dove gray with a white nose and paws. She had old scars covering her sides and face. She had recently given birth and was still producing milk, though none of her puppies were recovered. :( She had been used as a bait dog very recently. Her head, face and neck were ripped open, one ear completely gone. She was in SO MUCH pain, and yet she wagged her tail and tried to lick anyone who would come near her. The animal control officers said she crawled on her belly to them, bleeding, so they brought her directly to the SPCA and their vet. She had a lot of infections, and required a LOT of stitches, but she never lost that so-happy-to-see-you grin and tail wag. The last time I saw her she had been adopted by the manager of the SPCA and spent her days walking around the shelter office.

Now, my grandparents have a mini-pin chihuahua mix, and that dog is so aggressive that they don't even want her around young kids. She's bitten my kids before, and she has to be put up when the kids are around. I also had a neighbor that was attacked by her neighbor's golden retriever. There are bad and good dogs in all breeds. It really depends on the owner.

I <3 pitbulls, and yours is ADORABLE!

I adopted one from a good friend who couldn't keep her in the new place he moved into. She's 6 but was raised VERY well. She's awesome around people and kids.

here's my girl, she is an am staff.
her name is Porkchop, she was rescued from an abusive home.
she has lots of issues, doesn't trust strangers, is terrified of brooms, newspaper, and ice(when you try to bust up a bag)

but she loves our family and we love her.

Beautiful dogs! I work for a vet and I'd rather see the pits than those nasty little min pins and chihuahua's.

I have a theory about little dogs, since they are little people don't think they need to teach them any manners, but the little poops still have teeth and if they bite you it hurts and you bleed.

We have a "Huey" a big ole solid, all male, 80 pound goofball, pit who comes in for a bath about every 6 weeks. He's hysterically funny and loves to give big ole slobbery kisses.

I have 2 Pembroke Welsh Corgi's and a mutt, all good dogs.

My rescue pittie Loki:

She goes everywhere I go. I couldn't ask for a better dog, but I spend a lot of time training (it's always ongoing, bigger and better tricks) and exercising her. It's not hard to do, just time consuming, and that's where so many people fall short when it comes to their dogs, no matter what breed.

:) You are right - Dogs are what their environment makes them......& good breeding. Wouldn't breed 2 bad tempered dogs together for sure. And that goes for any breed. I have a ShihTzu now; used to have Boxers but that was eons ago. So just love your critters, eh? BFN
