I hope it's okay for me to start a challenge...:o

The best time of year is coming! The outdoors will be changing and so will we, for the better. It also means that it's finally cooling down outside, so outdoor exercising won't be so horrendous (especially if your neck of the woods had record highs and weekly heat advisories all summer).

It'll officially run from September 1st to November 30th. I know autumn doesn't officially start until Sept. 23, but 1.) as soon as the calendar says September, it's fall to me and 2.) it gives us an even three months to achieve whatever goals we set.

So, to start off:

CW: 219
GW: 185-190

1.) Cut down soda and drink more water & tea (since I can now justify drinking hot tea!)
2.) Go for protein/vegetable meals and cut down on carbs
3.) Exercise 3-5x/week
4.) Abstain from fast food
5.) Regulate sleep schedule (I'm up until 4AM and sleep until 1PM. Doesn't help I don't get home from work until 1AM).

I would like to join in this. I'm visiting my brother for thanksgiving. I haven't seen him in three years and I want him to see his little sister looking smaller than he's ever seen! (Which I actually am, but I want it to be even smaller, lol.) When I was a kid he tried to get me into exercising (wanted to do tae bo with me, bike riding, etc), but I just didn't care enough back then. I wish I'd appreciated it more.

So my goal is to see 169 on the scale before I go. Even if it's only 169.9!

Goals:
1) Keep up with my workouts. I might skip a day or two because I feel awful but I have to push myself back on track ASAP.
2) Limit treats. I need to stop looking for opportunities to let myself go a little off plan, and search for ways to stay super on plan!
3) Yoga every morning.
4) More water.

I have been wanting to join a challenge, I was waiting for the September one to start but this is awesome. I love autumn too but its bitter sweet. Yes its lovely weather and beautiful but it means WINTER is near and I HATE being cold!

CW: 205.8
GW: 199 (i know its not much but read on...)

In addition to a weight goal I want to do an inches goal. I have lots of size 12s in fall clothes that I still like and have saved. I pull pretty taught on my measuring tape in order to get a consistent reading each time, but here are my current and goal measurements:
Waist Start: 32 Goal: 30
Hips Start: 42 Goal: 40
Bust Start: 42.5 Goal: 40 (not a 12 but i like to keep things even)

Action Based goals:
1. Track food daily on Daily Plate
2. Exercise more than 150 minutes per week.
3. Yoga at least 3x per week

Hopefully I will blow these goals out of the water! :D

Fall's the best time of year and I'm going on a cruise in October with my boyfriend. I'd really like to look great in a bathing suit by then (yes... I know it's not a long time). So I've got a lot of work cut out for me O.o

1. Use my gym membership at least once a week, and not skip my tai chi classes (which are twice a week).

2. Stop drinking any sodas with calories and cut back zero calorie sodas to one a day.

3. Cut back on coffee and drink more tea.

4. Eat only one dessert time thing a week, and don't gorge myself on it.

5. Cut out fast food entirely.

just a thought, but the c25k thing that's posted in another thread might be a really good way to help with out autumn goals. the schedule's really easy to start with and i'm betting if we put our minds to it we could easily run 5k by November! What a great way to end the challenge?
Not only will we have lost weight and look and feel better, but we'll feel even more accomplished by doing something I know I've never thought I'd be able to do. If you can find a gym partner, running on the treadmill will make this even easier for the first couple weeks when you alternate from jogging and walking.

Im in also! I am really excited to get back into exercise. I was close to my goal last summer, but I fell off track and gained all the weight back. Hopefully I can get my motivation back!

I started school toaday (junior in college.....finally...) so I plan to start the c25k thing either this thursday or next thursday when things have settled down a bit and i've gotten used to my schedule. my campus is all hills and i don't exactly exercise a lot so i don't want to overload my body... haha i'm still sick ^_^ but wish me luck!

I'm not going to be doing the C25K right now. One because right now my only option is to run outside, which I really don't feel comfortable doing at the moment. And because there are other cardio exercises I enjoy much more (like my step aerobics). But I've heard many good things about the program, so good luck to those starting it! I will probably do it sometime in the future.

My last weight was 176, so I'm starting off Sept where I wanted to be and I'm hopeful about meeting my Thanksgiving goal.

I'm going to lay off the soda, take my vitamins, and watch my portions. :) Since I'm taking college courses on campus for the first time, and it is a BIG campus, I'm going to count walking to my classes as exercise. ;)

Hi all!! I'm jumping in on this!! :D My birthday is in November, and I really want to be at GOAL by then! I weigh tomorrow, so i'll record my starting weight then!

To get there I am:
-doing my back stretches everyday (muscle imbalances have lead to sciatica :()
-upping my workouts to 5x/week
-drinking a minimum of a Gallon of water/day
-continuing to eat a diet of lean protein, fruit, and veggies with one 'cheat' meal a week
-working on flexibility and core strength

Yay us! OK chicks, support and accountability from here on out :carrot:

I gained .4 this week. :-( I am going to keep it up another week at the same amount of calories and amp up my exercise like I have been and see what happens before I give up on 1200 calories a day (by either increasing or decreasing).

your weight's supposed to fluctuate naturally, so don't get discouraged by a .4 gain. ^_^ Plus if you exercising, you might be gaining muscle weight while losing your fat weight. Muscle weighs a lot more than fat and it's also a lot healthier... sooo think positively!

on a side note... my campus is ridiculously spread apart, but i felt more energized after taiji today... which is just weird... shouldn't it just tire me out?

so having officially finished my first week of school i've come to the conclusion that i need to revise my goals for this autumn challenge. I am going to need a bit of time to let my body adjust to the extra strain i'm putting on it from simply walking around campus and doing taiji. i've been sick for a long time and i think i've been a bit too eager. That being said i refuse to completely abadon my goals all together.

so! my revised goals are as follows:
*Cut out fast food entirely
*Limit my soda intake to 24oz per day
*Cut out non-diet sodas altogether
*Start the c25k on September 20 and finish it before November 30
*Limit my junk food intake to 2 pieces a week
*Keep a diet blog to help keep myself in check
*Exercise on Saturdays since I only have taiji Mon and Wed.

Canadian mom, I have recently switched my weigh-ins to Sundays too, so I'll be in the same boat as you!

I said I'd weigh yesterday for this thread and post, but I didn't, so I weighed today and I'm still at 150.6. So there we go... I think I'm eating too few calories, around 1100 on average. I think I lose much better at 1500cals/day. I'm upping cals for the remainder of the week and I'll let you all know!

I'm tired!! working out 5x a week is much harder than 2x a week!! So yesterday, i looked at my old posts, and noticed that I lose weight much easier when I'm eating 1500 calories. Also, for some reason I do better when I have a daily treat. i'm thinking it keeps me on track enough to stay within calories. And i sometimes binge when the scale is mean... SO i'm upping my calories to 1500!! and allowing for a little treat within those cals!! also, i am going to have one 'cheat' meal a week. and continue to weigh just once a week to ward off bingeing. aaand, i'm trying this for 3 whole weeks before making any changes! :D

that sounds great shasha! good luck with it! i'm not up to calorie counting as of yet, but if the pounds seem to stagnate than i might try that. so on the bright side, i went shopping today and i've dropped a jeans size and can comfortably wear mediums in some shirts now. I know that the challenge just started and this isn't from this... but just me watching what i eat and all during the summer before i came to 3 fat chicks... sooo it's just exciting. i know i can lose weight on my own, so i'm betting with an awesome support network like this i'll lose it faster and easier than on my own. ^_^

4. Reward myself not with food.
5. Keep a journal/blog. -I did a few hypnotherapy sessions focused on weight loss when I hit a plateau. So, she has me keeping a monthly blog on her website so people can monitor how the hypno process works with weight loss and your entire attitude.

Woot! Down .8 lbs from last Wednesday, same weigh in as my weekend weigh in though. 5 lbs to go! I should have made a bigger goal i guess. I just hate giving myself a deadline. I will work on inches after this, I am sure it will take me longer to reach my inches goal.

How is the weather everywhere? It was only 50 degrees this morning! brrr! I need a new jacket my old one is a 3x which was big on me 36 lbs ago but it was on clearance and cute and now its just massive. I have some old hoodies that fit now, I may start wearing one as a jacket. Autumn is definitely fast approaching!

I am down 1 lb from last week and 2.6 overall. :) I'm going to up my calories for a few weeks and see how that goes. I don't think I am eating enough.

Yay rosh! My weigh in's going to reflect about the same amount of a drop... but it's a drop, right? ^_^ And be careful about dropping your calorie intake too low, if you don't eat enough calories for your body you'll gain weight instead of losing it O.O weird, huh?

I'm starting with my September 4 WW weigh in

I'm going to try for roughly 1.5 lbs/week

Goals:
-Avoid fast food. If I need something quick --> Subway 6 inch veggie.
-Avoid pop.
-Stay hydrated
-Track Points (Weight Watchers member)
-30-60 minutes of exercise/day, even if it's just taking the dog for a walk.

I did awful this week I am up 2 pounds although it is probably water weigth. This weekend I was working the local fair and you don't exactly get scheduled breaks so eating wasn't healthy ans wok outs didn't happen. Trying to get back on track and hopefully get rid of these pounds this week and maybe post a loss next week.

A 4 lb loss! I'm hoping that this is evidence that my plan is working. I have a feeling that I might have to eventually up the amount of time I spend exercising daily, though. I've also changed my plan so that I'm exercising 6 times a week, instead of 5.

just wanted to stop in. I've been sick for about a week now, haven't been paying much attention to my eating (although, i haven't really been eating a ton), and definitely haven't been able to workout :faint: but i'm feeling a little better this evening, and that has led me to hope that I am on the path to recovery! Hope to be regularly back in the forum this week!

Congrats to everyone on their progress! Just checking in with my own stats ...

SW: 150 lbs

5.6 lbs lost and 14.4 to go! :dance:

As for my other goals, I've been very good about drinking water and cutting back on coffee (I'm down to two cups a day from probably six or seven), and I've gone jogging every night for the past 9 days. I've yet to go ice skating, though (still need to buy skates), and I weigh myself much more frequently than once a week! It doesn't seem to be hurting, though, so maybe I'll let myself slide on that goal.

SO... I just found out I have a wedding to go to in NOVEMBER! I went to my friend's wedding back in May, and everyone was all excited about how great I looked (-20lbs). A lot of the same ppl are going to this wedding, and I want to be at GOAL!!! I have to severely take it up a few notches. But at least I have a tangible deadline. Last time I got in shape for a wedding, I quickly got out of shape right after the wedding! Not happening this time!! wish me luck :D

I'm down .4 lbs this week. I know that's not much, but I'm going for slow and steady. As long as its down (or the same, but down is best) and not going up I am happy.

In other news my hubby who has been on Phase 1 of Atkins since Feb. has lost 134 lbs so far! Started at 407 and is now 273! Wowsers! So proud of him!

Congrats to all the losses so far! Tomorrow is the first 'official' day of autumn! I hope everyone has a fabulous fall! :D

Hey, Shasha! About the pizza - it's only because I was with other people! I have amazing self-control around others. It's only when I'm alone that I consider eating the entire contents of my fridge and pantry. I think having pizza at home would be an absolute disaster. I have totally eaten entire pizzas by myself in the course of two days.

Anyhoo, I'm updating, seeing as how the scale has started moving down again!

Hey everyone! Checking in again down another .4 lbs. Slow....but I'm happy its down. I am not really exercising and just counting calories and my max calories is 2000. SO I know I could go alot faster if i lowered calorie count BUT i want this weight loss to stick so I'm trying not to do drastic changes. I think I'll definitely meet my 199 goal for Thanksgiving. I haven't measured recently I might do it next week or the week after. My time of the month could start as early as this weekend or as late as next weekend so I hate measuring around that time. :D

Sorry I've been MIA all! the scale is finally moving for me... weighed in at 149 the past 2 days, so I'm calling it good. Our weekly weigh in is not working for me, my weight fluctuates too much with my sodium intake, so I have to go off trends. but FINALLY losing pounds as well as inches. finally!
