Couch 2 5K
Is anyone doing or completed the Couch 2 5K program here? I just signed up for my first 5K (EEK!) on October 17th.
I completed about 5 weeks of the program a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. I'm going to start it again this weekend. Just wondering if anyone else was currently doing it or if there was a thread on any of the forums about it.

Thanks for the link! I didn't even think to look in that forum for a thread.

I'm planning on starting the C25K next week. I got to week 4 a few years back and then I broke my foot. GL with your program!

I would LOVE to join you on the C25K starting next week. I was hoping that this would start again soon!

Cool Peaches. We'll do it together! I'll be heading over to the C25K board. One of us will have to start a thread there.

Woo hoo! It really is a great program and last time I did it, I was on WW and the support on their forums really helped.

Could you guys tell me a little more about this program? I've started running and I fancy the idea of running my first 5k in Palm Springs, not this February, but maybe in 2012.

Basically, it uses intervals to gain endurance. It's a 9 week program, 3 times a week. Each day involves a 5 minute walking warm up, and a 5 minute walking cool down. Here's the schedule:

If you have an iphone, several apps are available, and several webcasts are available for the ipod.

Sonata, it's a GREAT program! And you know what? It gets easier as you go, I swear. The first week was the hardest for me, no joke.
If I would have just started "training" on my own, I would have lasted two days. I would have probably just ran forever and tried to go waaaayyyy too fast and injured myself. C25K takes all the guess work out of it for you and is designed to build you up.
There are a ton of people who've completed/ are doing the program out there and lots of forums like this one have support threads.

I actually decided to jump right in and start yesterday. Did my first C25K run. It was hard, but totally worth it! I have an aunt who is in her mid 60's and runs marathons. My goal is to be able to do a short one with her next spring. This is the perfect way to get started! Shall we start a new thread for this or just use this one?

I have been doing a slight variation of this for the past month to month & a half. I just registered for my first 5k the first Saturday in October. I plan on following the program starting in week 3. I love that you can download an app for the iPhone that tells you when to walk & when to jog. It beats watching the clock! Good luck evryone, and believe me the longer you do it, Thea easier it gets!

I just changed the title on this thread since we have it up and going. I think it's a great thread to keep going in this forum. :-)
I didn't get to start yesterday because my iPod is all messed up. UGH! I'm going to mess with it some more tonight and if I can't fix it, I might just go buy a new one. I NEED to start this asap in order to be ready by 10/17...
