Chicks up for a Challenge - W.O.W. Laboring for our Bodies~Week 7

08-16-2010, 06:32 AM
I cant believe this challenge is almost over and I have been such a dud.

Well, I am taking my life back today. I will get in my workouts. I will watch my calories. I make the choices in my life no one else.

W 80 oz
E 10 minutes of abs done. Walk to the Y for swim lessons tonight
E 1300 cals
D Keep up the motivation I woke up with.

Today is Day 1.

08-16-2010, 07:31 AM
Good Morning, all!

Jeni, thanks for the new thread. I'm glad you've turned a corner and are going on so well! :)

We're still hoping for rain. We got a few, little drops yesterday, but that 60% never came this way. Hope you all are getting some.

Today's WEED:

W: 16-20 glasses
E: Watering, walk, Callanetics, rebounding, stretches (that's my usual)
E: Stay on plan!
D: Stay on this plan, too.

Hope you all have a lovely start today!

08-16-2010, 10:15 AM
I love a new Monday morning thread. It gives me a sense of renewal as far as the challlenge. I really do like this WEED concept and you guys are a good group.

Okay, today's big announcement. I was able to squeeze my butt into a pair of pants that haven't fit for months. They don't look great but I wore them to work anyway just because I COULD. :halffull:

Jeni - love the new attitude.

Silver - we aren't supposed to get rain here until Thursday or Friday. I hope you get your rain sooner than that. Where are you located?

Even though I felt like I hit a plateau on weight loss I really was enjoying my exercise. Between the heat making it too hot to do my walks, not wanting to get on the "dreadmill" and trying to kick start my weight loss I began the 30 Day Shred last Monday.

Today I completed Day 8 and I have noticed it is making a difference. I hope to get through 30 days of this but we'll see. My goal this week with it is to try to do it in the morning before work so I can get outside and walk in the afternoon. Also I would like to try to do level 2 on day 11.

Today's WEED -

W - 64 oz.
E - 30 Day Shred (done) and 3.5 mile walk
E - 1200 - 1400 calories
D - ironing

Have a good WEED day everyone.

08-16-2010, 07:24 PM
Hey ladies -

Jeni - glad to hear you're feeling motivated!

Silver - still crossing my fingers for some real rain here too!

Popcorn - congrats on the pants!

Did the P90X yoga last night, oh my goodness, it's harder than any yoga class I've taken, there's some pretty advanced stuff in there. There were a couple poses I couldn't do. Still sticking to the diet, DH is working late every night this week so basically I'm on my own. Hopefully will see some more movement in the scale this week - my goal for this challenge was to hit the 150's.

W - 64+
E - P90X
E - on plan, 50-100 g carbs
D - stay sane!

08-17-2010, 06:13 AM
Good Morning, all!

We finally are getting some rain. Maybe it'll put off more of the leaves falling. I'm not quite ready for autumn yet.

Today's WEED:
W: 14 - 20 glasses
E: usual
E: Stay on plan.
D: Keeping God's perspective instead of getting caught up in this and that.

I wish you all a very sweet day. :)

08-17-2010, 08:28 AM
Morning all! As always, skidding in with just a few seconds to spare.

Jeni, glad you are motivated, sprinkle me with some too!

Last week was great, feel off the wagon a gained it all back, roller coaster....

Today will be a good day.

W 100
E Run after work
E Packed it up to eliminate choices
D God loves me, I need to care for what he has given me.

08-17-2010, 09:46 AM
Mothermavis, am sending you lots of good thoughts for today!

08-17-2010, 10:45 AM
Jeni- We don't have to worry about you. You know what you're doing.

Popcorn- Have fun with Shred. I love it. It might be tough, but it's short.

I did a 3 mile run last night. Ran almost the whole thing, just took a few teenie walk breaks. Scales verdict- 175.4 Not bad after the drinking I did Sat. night.

08-17-2010, 11:15 AM
Morning everyone. Still feeling motivated today. Yesterday was great. Food was awsome. No walk to the Y for swimlessons, but I did do extra laps and stairs at work so that was worth it.

W 80 oz
E 35 cardio/10 row/15 weights
E 1300 cals. today is a tough one I am off.
D get in my workout.

08-17-2010, 01:37 PM
Didn't get the D of my WEED in yesterday. I must do it tonight though.

Jeni - glad yesterday went well.

Mindy - good job on your workout yesterday. You are right about the Shred being short - that is why I love it.

Mavis - good job on packing the lunch. I have been doing more of that too. I fill the mini fridge by my desk with stuff and also bring things like tuna and healthy bread to keep in a drawer. It really seems to help.

Emily - I want to start doing yoga but haven't been ready to give up some of my other stuff. I keep telling myself I will do it on Sundays but never get around to it. I have a feeling you will hit the 150's during this challenge, only a few more pounds to go.

Silver - are you still getting rain?

So far so good on getting my Shred workout done in the morning. Other than the obvious time crunch in the morning I feel so much better starting my day off with exercise.

Today's WEED -

W - 64 oz.
E - Shred (done) plus some walking
E - 1200 - 1400 calories
D - a little bit of ironing

Have a good WEED day everyone!

08-17-2010, 02:08 PM
Okie dokie. I got in my workout but it was a little shorter than anticipated. I got to the gym a little later than expected because I had to make emergency plans to go to seattle. Will's stepmom and 17 yo bro were in a car accident and his S-mom is unconsious with water on the brain. his bro has a broken arm. All prayers are appreciated. We are waiting for his Grandmother before we leave (anytime now.)

08-17-2010, 08:09 PM
Oh Jeni! So sorry. Our prayers are with them both.

08-17-2010, 08:16 PM
wow this challenge is almost over and i only went down 3 pounds.. wow that sucks.. but im to blame no more excuses... im gonna give it my all this week

08-17-2010, 10:19 PM
Jeni - I'm keeping your family in my thoughts, hope everything turns out OK

Tiara - it's OK, I haven't lost anything at least the last 4 challenges! ;)

Silver, Mavis - hope you guys are having a great day

Popcorn - thanks! I really feel like I can make it this time, or at least get very close.

Today, I veered a little off course - I went to the farm market before I picked up the kids, got them both chocolate chip cookies (big ones) as treats. Connor didn't want his, he wanted the peaches I bought instead, I only gave Desmond half (19 months old...big chocolate get the visual). So I ended up eating them tonight - now I feel like utter crap, bloated and gross. Oh well, the discomfort is a lesson learned I guess. Back to my normal food tomorrow. And I had green curry for lunch, which is fine, but I had the rice with it as well. A bit over my carb goal today I think!

tomorrow WEED:
W - 64+
E - P90X
E - back on plan 100%
D - tidy up the house, take care of recycling & donations, me time in there somewhere?

08-18-2010, 04:22 AM
Good Morning, all!

Tiara, am sending you lots of good thoughts. :) Three pounds gone is good. Much better than three pounds collected!

Jeni, I'm keeping your family in my prayers that all recover very well. Take good care on your trip.

Popcorn, we had rain day before yesterday. Was nice not to have to water. Yesterday was cloudy, and a nice bit cooler. The leaves are falling now. I'm not picking them up by hand anymore. Too many. Will wait for a pile and start the raking. Nice to have a break from mowing before the raking begins. I think the next place I live must have no lawn and no trees. Rocks and cactus would be good. :) Hope the weather is behaving in your area.

Emily, Mothermavis, Mtiger,

Am glad I cleaned up my food plan a bit, am back on the "losing path" and feel much happier. I really like making steady progress. It's encouraging.

Today's WEED:

Water: min. 16 glasses
E: usual
E: scrumptious stuff on plan
D: A day of thankfulness and enjoying life.

I wish you all a lovely beginning this morning. :goodvibes

08-18-2010, 06:12 AM
emily.. i know what you mean... i hope i can stay on track for the next challenge..

silverlife.. thanks for the good wishes.. i sure need it currently im having a pity party.. lol...ill be fine 2mo..

jeni.. you and your ohana are in my prayers.. i hope everyone will be okay..

lately.. i have been so stressed out... And i practically drove back to food to seek comfort. i always do this and hate myself in the morning.. you would think after losing 60ish pounds id have learned a few tricks by now.. sigh.. okay im done venting 2mo is a new day and i have a new plan to get me through the day..

w 64oz
e 1hour boxing/jogging
e 1200
d pick up library books

08-18-2010, 06:30 AM
Tiara~I know whay you mean. I've been like that lately too.

Will's Stepmom is on a ventilator, but waking up every hour or so for 5 minutes. We brought his brother home with us so he can be babied by nana for the next few days.

W 64 oz
E extra laps
E 1400 cals
D ?? cant think right. I only slept a few hours last night.

08-18-2010, 06:34 AM
Tiara, will you take good care of yourself? I don't know if this would interest you, but I didn't really get control of food urges and eating until after I started eating low carb. The carbs are what trigger appetite. I am much calmer and steadier, much more in charge of myself, all the way round.

Jeni, am keeping you and your family in my prayers. Hope you can get some rest and pace yourself carefully today.

08-18-2010, 10:49 AM
Oops, didn't get my D in again. I need to pull it together on the ironing. Otherwise I am doing everything else and it is a good hormone week for me because I am seeing the results of all my efforts as opposed to a few weeks ago. So for those of you who are discouraged hang in there.

Jeni - we will be keeping you and your family in our prayers. Don't forget to take care of yourself as well.

Tiara - it is so good to see you again. I agree with Silver - 3 lbs down is better than the alternative.

Emily - I wouldn't have been able to resist that cookie either. Honestly, I have to take drastic measures sometimes when it comes to food. Throw it away, send it to work with my husband, etc. I always know it is going to be more costly to me once it goes in my mouth.

Regarding the driving for food that Tiara and Silver discussed. I have done that myself many times in the past year. The one thing that I wish this site had was a chat room so that instead of sabatoging ourselves when we are having a craving we could jump online and discuss it with people hoping that they can talk us out of it. Has anyone else ever desired this? I know when my bad times are - in the evening - and having a place to talk to people live really would have been great.

Today's WEED -

W - 64 oz.
E - 30 Day Shred (done) and a walk
E - 1200 - 1400 calories
D - spend time with hubby

08-18-2010, 04:51 PM
jeni.. im glad that she's responsive.... i hope you and your husband get some much needed rest...

silverlife/popcorn.. thanks i went down a little today.. i really shouldnt weigh myself when i have TOM.. but i never learn.. feeling a lot better today. planning a trip to the store later to get myself some healthy foods...

08-18-2010, 08:54 PM
YAWN. I made it through work. Now swim lessons and dinner and I will be OUT for the night. I am so tired right now. But, good news. Will got a job! It wont start for at least a week but he will be making more per hour than his old job, but doing the same stuff. The only bad part is that its an hour commute both ways.

08-19-2010, 11:19 AM
Yesterday's WEED went well. I started Level 2 on the 30 Day Shred this morning. I will definitely do the modified version this whole level to save my knees.

Jeni - that is good news about Will's job.

Today's WEED -

W - 64 oz.
E - 30 Day Shred and walk
E - 1200 - 1300 calories
D - iron!!!!!!!!

08-19-2010, 01:19 PM
Hello, everyone!

Jeni, I'm glad Will found something suitable. :)

Tiara, hope you are doing well. :)

Popcorn, I posted a long answer to your post yesterday, but it didn't show up in the thread. I must have clicked on the wrong icon. What are you ironing?

Today's WEED:

W: 16 - 20 glasses
E: usual plus mowed part of the lawn with my reel mower
E: stay on plan
D: pace myself nicely

Very, very nice non-scale victory today. I am wearing a pair of slacks I haven't been able to get into for a number of years. I've been saving them and it's such a lovely feeling to have them on again.

Sending you all best wishes. :goodvibes

08-19-2010, 01:54 PM
Hey ladies -

Doing good, DH is working late yet again tonight (maybe I'll see him friday!?!). Took a 1/2 day from work today, feeling a little overwhelmed with all the stuff that's needs to be done around here. My SIL and her BF and daughter are staying with us this weekend so I'm feeling even more anxious to get the house together. When I'm done with this I'm going out to mow the weeds (oops I meant lawn...really) in 90 degree heat!

Jeni - So glad Will found a job, bummer about the commute but hopefully it doesn't put too much added burden on you.

Tiara - love the new profile pic!

Popcorn - good luck with level 2!

Silver - congrats on the pants, I have two pair from pre-childbearing days that I refuse to get rid of. When I fit back into them they will most certainly be out of style but I don't care, that'll mean I'm back to where I started at least :)

W - 64+
E - mow the law, maybe P90X if Dan gets home before 10
E - on plan, 100%
D - cross some to-do's off the list

08-19-2010, 03:09 PM
Emily, I'm glad you took some time off. I mowed some of my weeds this morning. When I put those slacks on today, I thought, "Goodness! They look old-fashioned". They are from about 1975, but I didn't care. I will enjoy wearing them. I'm glad you saved some of yours.

08-20-2010, 07:27 AM
Morning all! Getting ready for another crazy weekend. But crazy good. My boys leave for school again next weekend, that will be crazy bad for me. For those of you who were here last year, I am hoping I will handle the empty house better this time around.

I have gotten back into my running, gotten my FIL more settled since Mom passed, joined the Y and taken a 2nd job after getting my RE License, so I certainly have enough to keep me busy, here's hoping I can stay out of the abyss.

Jeni, congratulations on the new job for Will. Hoping your MIL is improving.

Tiara, hope all is well.

Silver, congratulations on the pants! Great feeling! We used to have a reel mower. I actually bid on one at the church auction last weekend, but did not bid long enough. I had already spent way too much at that point!

Popcorn, be good to your knees! I have horrible knees and am now really trying to get my running mileage up, but have to increase really slowly or my knees rebel.

Emi, you are liking P90X? I have thought about getting that for the winter.

I think though, that YS is bringing his WII to the living room for me when he leaves for college. He doesn't normally take that with him.

W 100
E Today is an off day for me, think DH & I are going to the fair tonight, so will be a lot of walking
E Minimal bad choices at the fair, but will definitely indulge a little
D Peace

08-20-2010, 11:27 AM
HI all.

I'm so glad im starting my weekend off! I plan on getting in a good workout today, and maybe some school clothes shopping. Then Nana and Papa are taking us out to dinner for our anniversary and taking the kids for a sleepover.

MIL is okay. still not doing great.

The commute isn't a bad one, it is an hour, but not on a high volume freeway. He had to make it 2 times a week with his old job anyway.

08-20-2010, 02:04 PM

Morning all!!

Tiara, I did have fun at the fair, saw a baby calf, just an hour old. He was just trying to stand for the first time. I must admit though, that to be enjoyed, the fair needs children. I missed having little boys last night...

Today is a crazy busy day, but I plan to try to get it all in.

Jeni, Happy anniversary!

Silver, a peaceful day to you as well, sending you good vibes.

I can't stay here today, have a ton to get to.

W 100
E OP, good choices
E Have to run, have not run in 3 days, a dear friend passed away unexpectedly last weekend at a young age and this week has been crammed with unhappy occasions and no time for anything
D Peace & praise. The friend is in a better place and I have been blessed with a wonderful family and great supportive friends both here and on-line!

08-21-2010, 10:00 AM

08-22-2010, 09:47 AM
OK, it's official, I am a redneck. Went to my cousin's anniversary party last night. It was at the family farm, my gramps place that my aunt & uncle now own. It was a cookout type deal. My cousin fixes cranes for a living so he is very mechanical. He has rigged up about 6 old lawn mowers with bumpers and we had bumper car lawn mower races. I won. The 44 yr old slightly overweight one beat all the 20 something men and one other girl.

Yes, I am a redneck.

08-22-2010, 10:48 AM
Good morning everyone. I don't think I checked in yesterday. I was recovering a bit from my night without the kids (which was nice, but too much vodka :))

In about an hour my step-dad will be in surgery getting a kidney transplant. I will be heading up there soon. I'm praying for him as well as the family that lost a loved one. I'll post more tonight.

08-22-2010, 11:40 AM
Good luck Jeni!!! Prayers for Step-Dad and both families!

08-22-2010, 01:21 PM
Stopping in to say hello.

Late Happy Anniversary Jeni!

Prayers for your Step-Dad, your family and the other family

Peace, Joy, Love and Blessings to You ALL.

08-22-2010, 01:57 PM
I was really bad last night with my eating. :(

Jeni - we will keep your family and the family that lost a loved on in our prayers.

Mavis - Your story made me laugh. Good for you for beating all the young ones.

Love - hello to you too.

Today's WEED -

W - 64 oz.
E - 30 Day Shred and some walking
E - 1200 - 1400 calories

here is the new thread ladies
