Default Question - heart rate monitors?

Hey guys,

So when I work out I have no way of knowing how many calories I have burnt and I know that using a heart rate monitor will help with this. I tried looking it up in the search on old forums but that didn't really help so I thought I would pose the question again...

If any of you use a heart rate monitor, what brand do you suggest (nothing expensive please, college student here lol)

Thanks

I have a polar heart rate monitor, and we are very much in love, haha. I bought it for about $75 bucks on amazon. Depending on how fancy you want it to be, the price can either be really reasonable, like $20 if you are willing to look for a deal, or $300. However, all I want is the ability to see how many calories I've burned. My polar does have an alarm on it that beeps when my heart rate gets either too high or too low during exercise, which is nice. That way I can make sure that I'm neither over nor under working myself.

That being said, I totally recommend heart rate monitors.

I use the Bodymedia fit. There's a thread on it in 3fc.. it's like the BodyBugg that they use on Biggest Loser. Tells you cal burn, heart rate, sleep efficiency, etc. It's awesome!

All of mine have been Polar and I try to go for the least frills possible so it comes out cheaper. It isn't like I use the fancy bells and whistles anyway!

Hey guys thanks for the input! I went on amazon, and ALL of the polar ones are currently unavailable! Is it supposed to look just like a watch?
Where else can I find them, at a reasonable price? And like astrophe said, I want to go with the least frills as possible. I just want it basically to tell me my heart rate when I'm working out and how many calories I've burnt. Any suggestions on other places I can get it from?
