100 lb. Club - I get stuck at every mini goal
08-06-2010, 07:17 AM
Mini goal 211 10% lost- Got stuck at 215
Mini goal 199 to get to One-derland- Got stuck at 203
Mini goal 188 20% lost- got stuck at 189
Mini goal 185 half way there- got stuck at 187
Mini goal 174- overweight Got stuck at 176
Mini goal 169- I have been stuck at 170 for a whole month!!!
I'm going to stop making mini goals! :p
I know I get stuck a lot, but come on! I thought I had finally figured it out. I seem to get stuck two weeks out of every month and then lose for two weeks, but this month I haven't lost at all.

I want to get to 189 so bad and here I am stuck for 2 weeks on 191. I keep telling myself to take a deep breath and relax. If I stick to my plan, it will come off. The bad thing is that I start thinking of the extreme things that I can do to get a few pounds off, like a couple of days on a liquid diet. I have to tell myself to stop thinking like that. The reason I have been successful this time is because I am making changes that I can live with long term. I always gave up when I was trying the extreme things.

Eliana, I could have written that post! Mines the same way!!! Almost exact numbers, onderland was the killer for me...204 for what seemed like an eternity! My next mini-goal is 174 and I can't seem to get out of 178...but I'm getting closer...just sloooooowwweedddd way down! I lose for 2 and stall for 2 as well...I love those 2 weeks I lose though!

I'm fearing this phenomena is about to bite me. I'm the once a month weigher so that scale does not make me crazy. However I'm so close to the magic 100 lbs lost number that I weighed in only 2 weeks after seeing 168, hoping to see 165. And it was still 168.
Must resist urge to step on scales again this weekend. A big part of my success has been seperating my behaviour from scale number and yet with this goal so close I'm now tempted to go for extreme measures just to see a number.
You'd really think after 16 months of this journey, it would get easier, wouldn't you?

Eliana-- boy am I right there with you.
Two weeks ago, I saw 190.8 on the scale and since then I've bounced between 191 and 193.
I should be hitting my whoosh week now, but so far, nada.

I wonder how much of it we do to ourselves. I don't mean plan wise. I'm about as regular as they come. But I wonder if we stress about it, unintentionally of course, but maybe our bodies respond by holding onto fat. Maybe since in past times famine brought about stress our bodies think we're gearing up for a famine and slow down. Just a theory.
It just seems like too big a coincidence.

Yeah, I got into running...was quite proud of myself too. Then I discovered I'm really not the runner I thought I was evolving into. I realized I kept dreading running days and living for Spin class days. I figure I can run every once in a while just to keep it up, but I'm not going to be training for any races any time soon.

I'm another who seems to have ended up having a whoosh for 2 weeks each month then virtually stalling for the other 2. My main whoosh is usually just before my period, then it's so frustrating to keep seeing the same numbers for the next 2 weeks. I really do wonder if it is hormonal for me.
Had my whoosh this week so expecting to be frustrated next week lol.

 It stinks, but it will pass right???
I have been "stuck" at 224-226 for 12 days now and I am getting upset over it. I have TOM issues again, but I am waiting for a whoosh that hasn't come yet! Very frustrating when I still have so far to go.
One thing I know is I haven't been getting enough water and I am working on that. Also, because of schedule I have eaten out several times- still in my calorie range except for 1 day - but still I get the feeling it has taken its toll.
I am hoping we both get unstuck soon!!!!

I fully believe that the set points (where your weight paused for awhile) on the way up is where you're going to temporarily stop on your way down.
I hadn't been on the scales in months and this week, I was at 288....which was where I was for a year or more a few years ago. The last time I'd weighed before that, I was at 309, which was the next weight where I hovered for quite awhile as I was gaining.

I had surgery and I still have stalls before landmarks, it seems. Our bodies need some recovery time and it's likely right around the same intervals, and sice we set mini goals at intervals, it's probably just coincidental. Super annoying, but coincidental. I know that meeting those mini goals is even sweeter for me when there was a little struggle right before, even though I forget that during the struggle. You have done a phenomenal job and think of it this way: each of those stalls, you overcame and didn't quit. Those are the hardest times to stay on task, and you do it with finesse. So be proud of the fact that you are sticking it out and try to remember that you will this time, too.

That... sucks :( I'm sorry it's happening to you! Not losing weight for a month is hard on your psyche (don't I know it!)
Here's hoping for a huge whoosh for you soon!
