My personal favorite is red wine or else rum with diet coke. Neither will set you back too many calories as long as you make sure to put it in your daily calorie count and limit the amount of drinks.

I drink at least every other Saturday night with my hubby. I can usually find the calorie count of whatever I plan to drink on the internet. I plan my food budget for the day in the morning, making sure to count a few drinks into the calorie count for the day.

I quit drinking totally. I haven't had a drink in a couple years now...but I think *I* had a pretty serious drinking problem. Also, after a few drinks I was much more likely to say "What the H*ll" and eat anything in sight...you know, to avoid a hangover...
Anyway, I don't condemn people who do drink though, one of my besties (Who has lost around 70 pounds in the last year) drinks the heck out of Bud 55. (55 calories a can).

I only drink occasionally, and I tend to go for light beers. I'm just a beer sort of girl
But I do notice like Lori Bell said - when I drink, I overeat. It totally lowers my inhibitions, and I start consuming a lot of calories I don't need!

I never drank, my drug of choice was Cheetos LOL but I think anything can be squeezed into a plan, just note the cals and decide if it's worth it to you that day. I've heard watering them down helps!

One tip: order a rum (or whiskey, I like whiskey) and diet, but have them make it a "tall"--they put it in a taller glass and give you twice as much diet coke. Takes longer to drink for the same calories.
Also, seriously look at how it affects your eating. If you eat more than you planned when drinking or recovering, consider not drinking.

I like MGD 64 too. I also like a vodka with sparkling flavored waters--I find them for 59 cents a bottle at Aldi. When I'm out I usually just have a Vodka Soda, boring I know. I like Shmead's suggestion of a tall. Unlike most people, I don't usually eat while drinking. Which isn't so great either.

If I drink, which is super rare, I usually go for sake, tequila, rum, etc etc, straight up. I do worse with chick-dessert-like drinks than the hard stuff, and am usually satisfied with less. Light beer is disgusting to me, so I just don't bother if I am not going to enjoy it.

Thanks for raising this question, Chunkey Munkey, because I'm going to be staying for a couple days with friends next month, and I'm nervous about staying on plan while I'm their house guest. They're quite fond of their wine & are heavy-handed & generous with their pours. Two bottles each night during & after dinner isn't uncommon -- and there's just the two of them. I have to figure out a way to schmooze with them comfortably for a couple days. This thread has been quite helpful.

When I know I am going to be drinking, I plan my calories for it. However like others have mentioned, this tends to be a day when I would overeat after I've had my planned two glasses of wine or whatever. Drinking is a definite rare indulgence for me, it was before anyways but now also because I have a hard time staying on plan when I have a few.

I very rarely drink these days, but when I do I get tequila and sugar free red bull. It's about 75-110 calories depending on how strong they mix it. The sharpness of the taste makes me drink more slowly so I don't down 5 or 6 without thinking about it. Plus, the red bull helps keep me from eating extra calories after I've had a couple drinks. Some people prefer the taste of vodka with the redbull and it is only 10ish more calories.

I still have a drink a couple times a week. I allot the calories for it.
But I HAVE found out that if I drink more than 2 in an evening, I am much more likely to snack and not care. My "just say no" goes right out the window. So I have to limit it to 2, or I have to plan to argue with myself about food. I find that if I drink with a meal, I'm much less likely to overeat due to booze. If I'm drinking by itself, I'm likely to oversnack.
