I'm here, and I think that this would really help me. I've started the C25k in an attempt to get me running [3 times a week]. I also do a boot camp five days a week and calorie cycle. So here I'll post what I'm eating [and you can laugh at my roommate and I's culinary adventures] and my exercise.

I'm hoping I can lose 10lbs in August, and that I can get out of the BMI for obesity and in to overweight!

lol. Diana. Not hinting. It is probably the ONLY thing i will gain weight for once I finally lose it! So i woke up today and the scale said 179.8! It only took me 2 months to get caught back up. Let that be a lesson for me not to backslide again. That is 2 months i could have been working getting out of the 170s.

blah. Still just moving foward.

I ate continuously and it shows ... not worried about the number in the morning TTOM is here and I believe that has been my issue the last two days. Snack (229)
1/4 cup oatmeal w/ cinnamon & no sugar maple, rice cake, 4 forks of pasta, 1 hm choc chip cookie

I would love to get in on this. I have been calorie counting (more or less) for the last couple of weeks and have lost almost 4pounds. But...today I made this great pasta dish (my house smelled like Olive Garden)and it sort of did something to me. I just ate and ate. I think the scale will show it tomorrow.

But...tomorrow is a chance to move more/eat better. No worries:)

Hope everyone has a great August....end of summer...great time to get our programs into gear so they will be habits, you know?

I'm way in.

I just got serious again about a week ago (although I'd been maintaining by 12-15 lb lost for a couple months). I've already lost 6 pounds! Woot!

I weigh myself everyday. If I don't, I gain.

Today I had seafood sausage and a slice of Havarti cheese for breakfast/lunch (I don't wake up early enough to eat 3 meals a day...), a snack of two green apples, and a big plate of pasta for dinner (with shrimp, seafood sausage, and tomatoes).

I felt pretty good about my food intake, coming in just under 1400. Not so good on the vegetarian front. I haven't been eating meat for the past couple months, but I didn't want to put my mom out (just got back home from university today).

I did an exercise DVD as well. HipHop Abs. It was pretty ridiculous, but I felt the burn.

I think I'll be sticking to pilates.

Goal for this month - 10 lbs.

Good morning and HAPPY MONDAY everyone. WELCOME TO ALL THE NEW JOINERS!

I hope we all have a successful week and meet our goals for the week. I can't believe it's already August. I'm going on a cruise in November and I would love to comfortably fit my size 14 by then.

I was so proud of myself last night. I was invited to dinner at a friends and there were all kinds of fattening foods (buffet style) to choose from but all I had was a baked chicken breast, a plate full of green salad, 2 tablespoons of pasta salad and a bottle of water. I resisted the homemade carrot cake which looked so good and my favorite homemade mac & cheese. It felt so good to stay in control. If I can keep this up, I see myself reaching my ultimate goal.

Today's Journal:

B - oatmeal, skim milk, coffee w/2 serv flavored creamer
S - baked sweet potato, honeydew melon
L - large salad w/cheese, sf/ff pudding
D - salmon, brocolli, dark choc

hello all, well the salt didn't too bad with my weight. back up to 180.8. but i know you don't gain a lb in a day--so it's water weight. I didn't realize how much salt i ate...and i don't usually add salt to my food. so maybe i should lay off cured stuff for a little while.

Jen, I'm up 1lb from yesterday too. TOM is here so I have to wait until it's over. ~~sigh~~ I was tired of seeing my 178 for the last 6 days but I didn't want to see 179 ...

I'm tired again this morning, ughhh what's happening to me. I have errands to run, I need to put my laundry away and I just want to be lazy ...

Have a great day!

@diana thanks for the new thread I love this accountability thing it's great.

@penguin I can definitely feel you on the round 2 I'm ready to knock this weight out lol.

Hello AEKSmom and Ghost girl welcome and yes it is so very helpful!

@gettinfit you will totally reach goal keep your will power strong like that. It pays to be focused doesn't it? I love those moments and isn't it great to be able to share it w/ ppl that understand and don't look at you like your 14KT crazy? lol

@jen and love2b I'm sure it's just water weight and will move quickly heck I fluctuate 3-5 lbs daily depending on what time of day I get on the scale so don't stress out too much over it.

jendiet
08-02-2010, 12:21 PM
ok, here's another thing! First, i lost 2 inches off my thighs, 2 inches off my butt and back another 1/4 inch off my waist and yet the same day i took my measurements, i onlyl weighed 3 lbs more--yes 3 lbs than today.

Do i look obese??? Every single chart or whatever, says I am obese O-B-E-S-E-

my waist is now 29 3/4 inches. , my waist at my navel is 32 inches.

i'm shrinking, but not losing a good amount of weight, and that is frustrating me! Tired of being called OBESE by that stupid chart.

love2b150
08-02-2010, 01:20 PM
MrsDawson, I sure hope this isn't a trend. I weigh a lot during the day but I only record my first weigh in closes to 6:30am since that is the time I started weighing 6/1. I can get on the scale and tell what it will say during the day, depending on how I feel crazy huh :)

Jen I don't think you are obese. It says that my BMI is 30.6 which is obese and BMI at 29 a weight of 169 is over weight. Well I have a long way to go to reach 169 so that obese number will be there for awhile. Your waist is a lot smaller than mine so ignore that OBESE word. You look great and you are doing great. Some things (talking to myself here too) we just need not pay attention to, especially if they darken our spirit. We want to always be positive, though it feels really good to vent, we want to feel great when we are done with the vent. You look great Big

August already?? Really...where does the time go??
Starting the month off at 242...better than where I was last month.

Ok, goals this month:
Do 10 TransFIRMation dvd workouts
Increase cardio to 45 minutes at least 4 times per week
Lose 10 pounds

The book (the Beck Diet Solutin) I ordered finally got here! I started it yesterday and it is making perfect sense. I'm excited to get through it and apply all the things I know I will learn. Something that finally makes sense...took long enough. Lol.

Daily Points: 30

Breakfast: Coffee, Toast ~ 5 points
Dinner: Handful of Doritos, Diet Dr Pepper ~ 2.5 points
Supper: 1.5c Chili-mac, 1c Refried beans, Small Oreo Blizzard ~ 24.5 points

Water: 98oz
Total Points: 32

Not much of an appetite today. Its too hot! I'm hoping to cool down enough before supper that I actually want to eat something...

Spring, I'm glad Beck showed up and you like it. I'm reading another emotional eating book now. Its called 'Shrink Yourself' by Dr Gould. It is about delving into the issues that cause me to emtionally eat. I'm only a few chapters in, trying to go slow so everything sinks in, but I'm feeling very pro-active.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new and here are some of my goals for the month:

Exercise 5-6 times a week
Eat under 1600 calories everyday
Lose 5-10 lbs

I have been able to convince myself that 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill is nothing but I get frustrated when I try to push and my calves start feeling strained. I realize that I must take it slow but I cannot walk at 3 mph for more than a minute. I want to be able to run eventually but taking it slow seems to be the solution that makes more sense at this time.

Food Stats:

B-oatmeal w/raisins, fruit & greens smoothie
S- small apple
L- 4 oz Curried Meat W/ 1/2 c brown rice & 2 c greens
S- 6 oz "no sugar added" yogurt w/ 7 wheat crackers
D-tuna fish salad with egg, 1 medium plantain, 1 c broccoli

I'm still trying to refine my eating plan since fitday is saying that I consume a lot of saturated fat. I'm not really sure what the balance for proteins, carbs, and fats are but I know didn't eat enough protein today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I weighed myself today and was shocked to see 262.5. Last week I was 263.5 so it was a pleasant surprise even if its probably water weight lol

Storm, welcome! Glad to have you join us. I agree you should take the exercise slowly. You don't want to strain, injure or just burn out too quickly. Building endurance takes time, especailly if we are trying something new.

Ghost, congratulations on those nine lbs. Great start.

AEK, congratulations on your 41lbs. :D

apple cinnamon oatmeal

L - 460
bird's eye southwester flavored rice

S - 500

BoobsNotBombs
08-02-2010, 09:21 PM
Breakfast/Lunch: Leftover pasta dinner - small serving - with shrimp and seafood sausage (500 calories)

Dinner: 1 piece focaccia, 2 oz pollock, and sweet corn at a restaurant. I only ate a little bit and had lots left to take home, but it was quite rich and buttery, so I'm guessing 800 or so for all of that.

My workout today was a 40 minute Pilates dvd.

Feeling good, although I had no weight loss today.

Penguin thanks again for recommending the book. I am really enjoying it. It's nice to have something that 'clicks' for me. The new one your reading sounds interesting as well...you'll have to let me know how you like it and if its helpful once you get through it. It may be another one I need to add to my list. :)

So, last night while exploring the WW site, I came across a challenge that I decided to participate in. 40 miles in August! This morning I got up feeling a little overwhelmed by the thought of completing 40 miles, but then I talked myself through it and realized its only 10 miles a week. I can do 10 miles a week, I know I can! Its something that is doable. I'm going to give it go.

Daily Points: 30

Breakfast: Slimfast ~ 3 points
Snack: 40 Peanuts ~ 4 points
Dinner: 2c Cooked Spinach, Hamburger w/ 3/4oz Cheddar Cheese Slice ~ 6 points
Snack: Popcorn ~ 3 points
Supper: 1 Hamburger (grilled), corn/green beans/peas, salad

Water: 100oz
Total Points:
Exercise: 1.5 miles walking

We will see about the hamburger patty for supper since I ate one for dinner...the spinach was awesome, I haven't had cooked spinach in forever! I even got the kids to eat it. 1 loved it, the other looked at me like I was feeding him something out of a cow pen. Lol. My husband even offered to try it sometime which surprised the heck out of me cause he's more of a meat and potatoes kind of guy.

I think it has officially hit me today that it is really August. Aaaagggghhh. Too much to do and so little time!

Got in a good workout last night but found out my walk/run group didn't meet once I got there so I went to a park and did my 5k alone with DD. Now my schedule is kinda screwed up though. Because I ran I didn't get home till 9:30 (went grocery shopping right after) got home cooked dinner and didn't eat dinner until 10:30PM

Went to bed @ 11:00PM and couldn't get up for my early morning walk. I guess I'll be walking in the evening today as well. I hate evening workouts but I have to get them in. Oh and I made this heavenly chili over whole wheat pasta meal last night as well. Thought I'd only eat a little but I ate too much. But I didn't try to clean my plate as normal which is a good thing. I stopped and put the rest up for today yay me! Didn't weigh myself because I don't feel like having a bad mood over a stupid number on the scale so I will weigh tomorrow after I've eaten and worked out well today. I'm tired of the scale dictating my moods haha

on to food:
B - active lifestyle oats honey and choc bar - 141
1 banana
1 8 oz cup of banana strawberry smoothie ??

Welp good day to all

L - tuna and wheat thins
Grapes

S - Wheat thins and veggie ranch dip

Good Morning All,

WELCOME Quietstorm. 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill is a great start. Keep it up and just add a few minutes every few days and you'll be up to jogging before you know it.

Yep Diana, we're one day closer to onederland. I can't wait to see 199.9 on the scale.

I started my morning with a 3.2 mile walk at Stone Mtn. It wasn't quite as hot this morning. I am so ready for fall. I just love when there's a crispness in the air and the leaves are turning.

Eating will be good for me today. I have my W/I at Weight Watchers tonight and I have no idea if I've lost or gained. Hopefully, I'll be at least a pound closer to onederland.

Have a great day everyone ;)

Hello Everyone :)

Feels like Monday but it's Tuesday! woohoo! Don't you just love long weekends!!!!

meggoat - Hi and Welcome to the thread, nice to see you join in! :welcome:

jendiet - HaHa! Yes, her tongue is very pink :) So it's pink because she's well hydrated eh?? Interesting. It's probably because she has this trick where I tell her to go get her water and she'll run to her water bowl and drink ... and I do it often just because I think it's cute :)

love2b150 - I am also planning to make this a better month! Go August!!!!! :cheer3:

tamifc Hi and Welcome to the thread, great to see another newbie! :welcome:

Charmtime :welcome: Nice to see you! Glad to have you aboard!

BoobsNotBombs - hahahaha! Love your screen name! There are so many newbies to the thread this month! :welcome: Fun :) Well done on those 6lbs lost already! :cheer:

MamaP - Great to see you back!!! :) How are you??

Penguin - Great to see you checkin in!

AEKsMom - :welcome: you are doing great, keep iit up!

ghost_girl - Yay! I love all these new faces :welcome: Well done on that 9lbs loss!

GettinFit - Well Done on all those good food choices!

MrsDawsondn - Great to see you back! :)

Sping - Good to see you have set yourself some goals for the month, perhaps I should do that ...

quietstorm Hi and Welcome  Another goal setting gal, I need to hop on board with that.

Diana - hahahaha! Another day closer to the weekend :) Yeh, I look at it like that too, makes the week seem just a little better :)

Veil - I hear you on the not so good weekend. It was a long weekend for us here in Canada so I did make some not so good food choices, not terrible but I really could've been better - you live, you learn eh.

Holy Moses! Look at all those :welcome:'s above!

Didn't July just fly by?? This whole fricken year is whizzing by!

I am going to take a page outta some of your books and actually set some goals for myself this month.

1. Stick to my "eat 1 meal, whatever I want to eat" every 2 weeks.
2. No more 3 PM chocolate breaks! This is becoming way to frequent. It has to stop! Starting today!
3. Drink at least 2 cups greens tea each day Mon - Fri (Sat and Sun, is usually just water)

Ok, so other than the 3 things above I have been good. Drinking plenty of water, exercising regularly, getting in my veggies ... but I really think the 3 PM choc. breaks are the biggest issue! The mail centre at work keeps a big bowl of chocolates there, I am on the same floor and walk past there everytime I need to go to the washroom. At any other time of the day I can resist but it is just that afternoon snack attack that makes me wander in that direction. Today it is going to stop! I think it had become more of a habit than anything so just need to break myself out of it.

Yah, so here is what I plan to eat today.

B - Egg Salad Sandwich (2 slices WW multi-grain bread w/ 1 boiled egg mixed with half the fat mayo) + 1/2 Homemade smoothie (banana, blueberries, strawberries, skim milk, natural yoghurt and honey)

S - The other 1/2 of the homemade smoothie

L - Left over Thai food. Green Chicken Curry w/ green beans and snow peas + small amount of rice + a side salad of mixed greens, cucumber, tomato, light chedder cheese and cal.wise balsamic dressing

S - 1 Apple

D - 1 portion of salmon w/ jerk marinade + naan bread + greens beans

Drinking: 1 morning coffee + 2L water throughout the day + at least 2 cups green tea + 1 diet pepsi

Exercise: 30min brisk walk with the dog + 30mins Wii Fit Plus

Have a happy, healthy and OP day

Thanks for asking . . . I'm here, that's about all I can say. MamaP - I know how you feel. The past few months I have not been doing well mentally... however August is a new month and I am trying to move past the issues that are causing my depression and work on the physical part of me. ( I am not going to go into too much detail because I try not to talk about it, I write down all these feelings in my blog).

Every day I try and think about all the positive's in my life and it does help. I am glad to see you are still dropping in and I know I must sound like a broken record but remember if you ever need any support we are always here :)

You do not sound like a broken record . . . I appreciate the concern. I just keep plugging along. I know I am blessed with many good things/people in my life ~ I think that makes the depression that much more "ugly" cause it doesn't make sense . . .

Happy August everyone!

So this month my goal is to actually try to EAT 1000 calories a day. I've been told off by both my doctor and my personal trainer for not eating enough, but I can run off pretty much nothing and I don't think they realise that. My problem is going to be actually consuming that much food seeing as I'm doing my best not to snack, and I can quite easily get 200 calories from a packet of crisps, which I know is bad.

I do have food issues, I know I do, but they're not really weight-related. I just have problems eating anything that's a little unusual. I tend to stick to a very rigid diet - I might branch out a bit when I go to a restaurant but otherwise I just eat the same stuff. So I'm going to try and be a bit more adventurous!

Anyway, today's food:

Breakfast: Small carton of orange juice and an apple.
Lunch: Two sausages, packet of pickled onion flavour corn snacks (nom), chocolate milkshake.
Snack: Energy drink.
Dinner: Gluten free steak pie and peas.

Not sure how many calories that is and I know that a lot of them have come from bad sources! Argh, darn it.

This morning for lunch/breakfast I had both my mom's and my own leftovers from dinner out last night. I'd say it was about 3-4oz of steak, 2-3oz fish, couple of bites of corn, fennel, and sauteed collards. Who's to say how many calories it was? I'm guessing a lot, though, between all of the butter and what-not. I tried to take it easy for the rest of the day.

I had two fiber snack bar things - oat chocolate chip. They were 140 each.

Didn't do any official exercise today, but I traipsed around all of the lower-Manhattan for about 3 or 4 hours. I estimate several miles of walking. By the time I got home to Brooklyn, I about collapsed onto the couch my legs were so stiff and tired.

D - unfortunately we are going to the pub for dinner tonight. I'm going to have the grilled samon and potatoes with salad but am unsure as to the number of cals, hence restricting so much for B and L...

Total not including D = rounding up to 600 cal...hoping dinner does not tip me over the edge!

Will not be able to exercise tonight as I have writing to do on my thesis...hoping my cals will be restricted enough but a little stressed. Weigh in on Monday morning...think I will cry if I havn't lost more than 1lb this week :(

Happy Hump Day!

Now about this weight, I have been jumping around the same few pounds for a while now and frankly it just will not do! I have been looking at a few options to kick my weight losing butt back into gear and a friend suggested I look into a food / eating solution by Mark Bittman. His philosophy is vegan throughout the day and 1 meat meal at night only. My friend has lost a lot of weight cutting out meat from their day so after talking to the SO he thought we should try it out and see how it goes, so that's what we'll be testing next week. I love these little experiments, it makes things interesting.

Anyways, I am still in Onderland which is good. Been bouncing around 197, 198 and 199 so would really like to break this, my next mini goal is to hit 186lbs, that will be the halfway mark! So I am setting my sights on that!

Here is the plan for the day 8/4/2010

B - 1 small 1% choc.milk + 1 slice whole wheat bread w/ natural peanut butter and vegemite + 1 peach + 1 light babybel cheese

S - 1 yoghurt

L - 1 Campbells Healthy Request Spicy Lentil soup w/ crackers + 1 salad of mixed greens, tomato, light chedder cheese and cal.wise balsamic dressing

S - 1 banana

D - Shrimp, Avocado, Broccoli Sprouts with old school marie rose sauce + side fo rice

Drinking: 1 morning coffee + 2L water throughout the day + 2 cups green tea (at least) + 1 diet pepsi

Exercise: 30min brisk walk with the dog

Have a happy, healthy and OP day!

Good afternoon ladies.

Ok so I have an aunt that used to be my walking buddy but we've both moved too far away but my son and her grandson play football on the same field for practice so yesterday we went walking while they were playing. Then this morn I got up for my morning wog (walk/jog). I am pooped but my eating has been great so I'm not complaining. Bad thing is she now wants to walk during practice today and I don;t know if I'll have the energy today. I do admit that will ramp up my exercise to do a morning run and an evening walk but I just don't know if I'm ready for all of that just yet and I don't want to overtrain. But she has no one to walk with at home and is scared to go it alone in a new neighborhood and I don't wanna start something I cannot finish. I'm a gal of my word. hmmm decisions decisions. BTW I totally despise evening workouts lol.

On to the food:
B- 3egg omelette with colby/monterey jack shredded cheese cherry tomatoes and turkey ham - 405 cals

S- banana - 105 cals

L- tuna salad cup - 80 cals
Wheat thins - 265
Red seedless Grapes - 221
White tea
total : 566

S - Cheezit and pretzels -

D - ??? Maybe baked Chicken and veggies?

1800 Cal Limit.

On the agenda today to register for my first 5K since 2005 Woot!

Welcome to all the new folks!

So, I did go back and buy that animal print top and the brown pants ~ after getting the approval from my daughter. :) She said she thought it was cute and thought it looked good. The pictures attached are the other outfit I bought. Not the best pictures but you get the idea. Pants are size 12 and the top is a 16/18 - both in Misses. I probably could have worn the top in a 12/14 but they were out of them.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

:welcome: abidabbi & WillsMom

JenS, great on the one pound, ONEDERLAND here she comes :)

Lauren, I've done the same thing twice now. Last month was the hardest but with everybody's help here I made it through. Then just last week I was stuck at 178 then I saw 176 and back to 179, ughhhh. I didn't stress too much (I don't think) but this morning I saw 177.4 not far from 178 I know BUT IT IS NOT 178 :D. I tried calorie cycling which I couldn't do correctly and I figured my calories cycle on their own. Not sure what else I did but it passed. Someone told me they were stuck for 3 months once. Now that would discourage me. Hope your scale moves soon. Curious to know how the no meat in the a.m. works for you. That's a thought. That means no eggs and dairy during the day also, right?

MrsDawson, I'd say walk with her today, but express how you really prefer not to workout in the evenings. You prefer to do it early and get it out of the way and you have already had your exercise for the day maybe she'll get the hint. I have two walking buddies both will walk by themselves at anytime. Me on the other hand I prefer to have someone with me so I know how she feels, but if there are people out there already I wouldn't care. Just my two cents :) Also I tried walking in the a.m. with one and then walking in the p.m. with the other and to me my body didn't like it. I thought the scale would move more, instead for me it stood still and it is like you said because I probably didn't give it my all due to lack of energy.

Today's eats so far

Breakfast (220)
nutirgrain waffle, activia vanilla yogurt, skim milk

Snack (100)

I'm brand new here and don't know if I'm doing this right...
I'm reading the Beck Diet book and facing the fact that I need to do something.
Last Fall in a 6 week period of time (according to my medical records) I gained 12 pounds. This after being at the same weight (other than pregnancy) all of my adult life.

Anyway: my starting weight was 168; my current is 166 and my goal is 150.
So far today I have taken 2 yoga classes.
Breakfast: protein drink (if I eat before yoga, I feel nasty)
Lunch: canned salmon salad on nut crackers ( can't eat gluten).

Peace,

love2b150 - Thanks for the encouragement, it is a little frustrating but I won't let it discourage me! My body is just playing with me to see if I give up, but I won't! And yes, we are going vegan throughout the day so no eggs, dairy will be limited to soy milk and soy yoghurt etc

Marci - Welcome to the thread! Best of Luck! :welcome:

LOL Lauren, you know it's not a little frustrating, :D it's A LOT frustrating. I literally would have given up if it weren't for the encouragement here. I knew I was doing everything that I was supposed to do and it is definitely a big deal to me not to eat all day and actually get off my listless behind and do any kind of exercise. Two of the places that we've lived I could walk to the 7-11 in about 20-30 minutes and both places I drove. It wasn't even worth the gas to go there but lazy me wouldn't walk. Now I look forward to my walks so it was very very frustrating for the scale not to move for a week :D Gosh I've come a long way. But now I also know that I need to switch things up every now and then. I am starting not to like eggs any way so I could probably give that up, cheese is starting to bother me also not sure what is it exactly about it. I think it's just the taste and the sodium. I like milk though, but I could sure do without chicken and deli meat. I'm talking myself into a new way of eating. hmmm Thanks Lauren for new ideas

love2b150 - haha you are right it is definitely more than a little frustrating :) Another reason I am giving up dairy is because I have a lot allergies and apparently dairy only makes them worse. I am hoping that I see a big change in that dept. I take allergy medicine every day so if I could stop taking that daily I would be one happy camper!

You guys are doing fine...keep it up...I'm loving this thread its helping me although...I went out to dinner as I said earlier, salmon was off the menu so I had a grilled chicken burger (one breast) with no dressing and about ten medium sized chips. I had about 600-800 cals left for the day and now I'm really worried I have over done it :'( I didn't eat it all, but still, I will try and burn a lot at the gym tomorrow...
Sad now :'(

Hi Everyone!

I went to the Endo today for a follow up about my Thyroid. My dosage is changing very slightly. I will keep the same dosage M-F but Sat/Sun will go down only 12 mcg. She is really impressed with my weight loss and thinks I am doing great. I really thought my dosage would change considerably considering my weight loss. Also, I thought my TTOM issues were because my thyroid meds were too high. That's obviously not the issue. I guess it does have to do with a hormonal imbalance from the weight loss. It looks like that has been corrected with a Progesterone cream anyways. Let's hope. ;)

Kris I always wear jeans, T-shirts, and athletic shoes because of the type of work we are in. Last night after DH and I ate, I went to Marshalls to look around. I didn't want to buy anything, but I did want to try on a few things just to see what I look like. I know that probably sounds weird, but I don't have any nice clothes that fit me. I took a couple dresses into the dressing room to try on. These dresses are not my style. I wanted to try something totally different than what I would normally wear. I was amazed at how femimine I look. :o My shoulders/neck area are really nice. It's amazing how new and different clothes can make you feel. :)

Diana ~ I have always been a jeans and t-shirt kind of person. Sometimes it feels good to step outside of our comfort zone. I'm glad you tried on some different types of things. I work in an office that is business casual, my idea of business casual is very casual ~ it's hard to want to spend the money and effort on nice clothes when you weigh 280 lbs. Until I started losing weigh, I rarely, if ever, wore dresses. I am a basic slacks and pullover cotton (almost t-shirt material) type of tops and flats (not a fan of heels). I "dress up" so rarely that a couple of times when I had nicer clothes on, my boss asked me if I had a job interview or something. I totally understand the going to try on clothes just to see - the two outfits I bought this week (that I really couldn't afford) weren't planned purchases, I was just trying them on to see if they would fit and how they would look. It's amazing how good it felt and with the "mood" I've been fighting lately I decided to buy. Most everything else I have is getting so big that I was feeling frumpy and feel like I'm hiding my weightloss. I got a lot of looks today at work, at the grocery store, etc. Don't know if it's because I felt better and people noticed that or what. I can't wait to get the rest of this weight off (45-50 more lbs) and really start enjoying this life.

Hey everyone. I didn't get a chance to post yesterday because I had an insanely busy day at work and when I got home I was so completely tired I slept the rest of the day away. Hi everyone and welcome to the new people too :spin:
Feeling a bit better this morning as I have worked out how to fit in the gym today (as in sneak it in in the middle of work)...!
I have holidays booked for the end of August, I'm really excited as it means I can go on a real exercise binge! I'm loving the gym but also want to fit in some walking and maybe try a little running (I have big front bumps so haven't really gotten into it before)...

So far today just breakfast - toast and tea and trying to think positive thoughts :)

I had a few more calories than usual yesterday. By dinner time I had to drive my daughter and granddaughter to my mom so she can visit for the week and I was so hungry I gave in to my temptations and had fast food but stayed on the lighter side. Im ok with it though. In the past I have ended diets from being so hungry and depriving myself if I really really want it. Not a set back.. the scale didnt move but I enjoyed my dinner so its ok :) :) :)
And I didnt exceed my BMR or RMR.. here it is
Yesterdays menu:

Breakfast:310
Turkey bacon bowl
2 pc wheat bread with spray butter

Snack:125
V8 juice 1 slice wheat bread and turkey lunchmeat (dry)

Lunch: 260
bowl salad (Smokehouse BBq ranch chicken) I didnt really like it so it didnt satisfy my hunger

Snack: 185
2 pc wheat bread lettuce, tomato, onions, mustard and honey ham
(I ate this because I was so hungry I guess from not liking the salad)

Dinner:650
Chika-fila grilled chicken sandwich and sm waffle fries
TOTAL: 1530
only about 32oz of water..Ill do better today!!!

Went to a funeral today and was so depressed that my mum took me out for lunch afterwards. Not very healthy but frankly I don't care right now, what I do care about is that today an extremely lovely, caring lady was laid to rest and the world will be a gloomier place without her.

So today I've eaten:

Potato skins with cheese.
Mushroom risotto.
Lemon tart and cream and strawberries.

That will, admittedly, probably be it. I'm just so gloomy right now and feel like crying again. What's funny is that I swore I wouldn't cry, that I'd try and be brave but that just didn't happen.

Anyway. Going to cheer myself up with the fashion issue of Harper's Bazaar and a glass of wine.

Thanks for the advice love2b I actually went walking with her and it wasn't so bad. This morning I rested though have to let the muscles recover. I think I'll walk tonight only because I missed this mornings workout but that's because my schedule is thrown off a little bit.

MamaP the shirt is really cute I'm glad you got it.

Welcome Madrikh I'll be praying the best for you as you begin your workout.

Got on the scale today and it has moved downward and has been pretty consistent with my fluctuations so I look forward to being out of the 3's very soon :D. I've updated my ticker with a 2lb loss this week. I feel like the little engine that could..." I think I can I think I can...." lol

So today's agenda:
B - Banana and a Breakfast bar
l- Salmon salad cup and wheat thins and grapes and tea
S - Cheezits or something else healthy
D - Turkey burger patties and salad.

Cal goal 1800

Exercise: Neighborhood walk with aunt while boys practice for football. Roughly 49 min walk up very steep hills

Hey everyone, sorry I've been gone for the past week. I've been sick, and therefore horribly off plan. My eating schedule has been thrown off big time. I went to the doctor this morning and she gave me a steroid shot to speed up the healing, and also 3 prescriptions. The good news is I finally got my back x-rayed and kinda know what's wrong with it now. She didn't give an actual diagnosis, but she said that it is degenerative and will flare up randomly. She also said that if I wasn't young with an active job that she would have sent me to physical therapy. The medicine she prescribed for it is mainly used to treat osteoarthritis. Hopefully it's not that.

Thanks everyone, I've had a sleep and am feeling a bit better now. The lady who died was a family friend who was just always there when I was little, but we'd fallen out of touch and it was a real shock when we were called and told she'd died. Funny how many of my old schoolmates were there too, she'd touched so many lives and will be missed.

Anyway, thanks again, and I'm not going to feel guilty about the rather large bowl of Ben & Jerry's waiting for me downstairs. Abidabbi is quite right, the soul needs to be looked after too at times like this. Back on track tomorrow though :)

Hi everyone!
I need some accountability; mostly just to put out in the universe that I'm on plan and aim to keep it that way.
I'm low carb. Not south beach, not atkins-we'll call it the dietcokehead lc plan. Nothing white basically. No sugar, flour, rice, starches. Good, whole food.
Today i've eaten:
3 organic eggs, scrambled with some organic cheddar
organic celery stalks with sugar free peanut butter
steak salad with lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese and pinto beans
dinner will be grilled chicken and veggies
snack tonight will be pepperoni chips and/or sugar free jello, if I have a sweet tooth.
Ahhhh, I feel better now.... thanks!

wow, i am late for this..but nonetheless..

i am 5'5", used to weigh 140, but gained about 100 lbs, got married at my heaviest (240), and i am going back down..just reach one of my personal mini goals: to get out of the 220's and get to the 2-teens..i am at 218 as of today (yay!)..

i started keeping better track of my food consumption with the help of an app in my android phone called calorie counter, and i do not consume more than 2000 calories a day..i try to swim everyday or do some form of exercise (walking the dog, playing with the cats)..i want to start the insanity 60 day program (i have it, but my husband always wants to *start* on a monday, never happens, so i guess this monday i will have to start without him :( ) i eat mostly fruits and vegetables, unprocessed drinks (with the exception of alcoholic beverages, which i consume about twice a month) and juices (i make them myself)and i take my daily multivitamin and supplements (need them for my vitiligo).

my long term goal? to get down to 160 (140 would be better) before i have children so i can produce a healthy bunch :D (husband understands)

my goal for this month is to get down to 210 or less..i wanna be able to fit in my old jeans!

Hello Everyone,

This is my second post in here, I didn't post yesterday unfortunately.

Today was my first time eating out in a month. For lunch I went to a "salad bar". I thought getting a little cesar salad would be ok but I never realized how much calories one cup of that salad had!!! After adding my calories, I ended up eating about 940 calories total but I enjoyed the meal so all is well. I will definitely do better tomorrow. I try to stay focused on taking it day by day. No excuses!!!

I also reached a mini-milestone today! I actually jogged a little on the treadmill! In my other post I complained about not being able to walk as fast as I wanted to but today I wanted to push the limit. I did about a minute of light jogging during my walk and it actually wasn't that bad.

Stats for the day:

B- Plain oatmeal with raisins, protein powder
S- small apple
L- 1 c cesar salad, 1 c asian salad, 1 cup tossed sald, 1 c chicken soup, 1 blueberry muffin, 1 chocolate chip muffin
D- Small serving of tuna fish salad w/egg & small mashed sweet potato

Total Calories: 1,779 (not bad at all!!!)

Wysteria I'm glad you're on the up hun
Everyone else...wow, keep up the good work! Everyone's doing so well! Dietcokehead I love your username ;)
So lunch yesterday was:
A bagel
A kiwi fruit
Some berries
And for dinner we went to a friends house and had:
A small slice of chicken pie (panic)
Baby boiled potatos
Veggies

Not to bad other than the pie...bit gutted about that. However, the bit that I'm chuffed with is the 40 mins I did at the gym before I went to my friends and burned 500cal. In 40 mins YEY! I was chuffed I managed 30 mins hard slog on the elliptical and 10 minutes hard slog on the rower.

I'm looking after their dog this weekend at their house so plenty of walking for me. However, I'm quite allergic to dogs, so have put myself on a dose of steroids for the weekend. I'm usually ok if I drink a lot of water but Im postponing my weigh in until Weds because I don't want to be weighing water retention...;)

Anyway, It'll be a test, as I only buy stuff I can eat at home and I'll be in a house full of sweets, sugar and fatty yummy foods that wouldnt usually come over my doorstep...fingers crossed. Hoping to be out all day anyway so shouldnt be too bad. And my dude is bringing his son for a bit so I get to see them too :D

Will report in here on Monday, hope everyone has a super strong, happy and healthy weekend. Roll on exercise binge in a week :D

Hi, this is the first time I've posted in August, was off track for a few days, but back down to my lowest weight since I restarted about 2 and a half weeks ago.

I've got breakfast and lunch planned:

B: 2 hardboiled eggs
L: veggie burger on whole wheat English muffin with red onion, lettuce and marinara.

Need to get out now and do my walking early. It's been in the hundreds all week, if I don't get it done early I don't get it done at all.

abidabbi
08-06-2010, 08:58 AM
So today so far I had a bit more thn I was expecting to:
B
Wheetabix x 2 (150)
Toast x 2 with a little spread (200 + 50)
L
Strawberries (30)
Blueberries (30)
Pear (40)
Mushy Peas (200 to be safe)
Bagel with a bit of cheese (223 + 150 = 373)...
When you write it like that it doesn't seem like much but crikey I am full! Uncomfortably full, this is why I have been eating slower...had to rush a bit and I feel quite ill now :( And am very tempted to go throw up. But I won't, I need to be strong and not get back into that crazy behaviour.

1073 cals so far then which I am gutted about. I will have a very small dinner tonight whilst dog sitting...200-300 cals of something very light like soup or something.

Bleugh, need to get busy in the lab to forget this :'(

Girls - I am soooo ready for the weekend!!!! I really just didn't want to get out of the bed this morning. It was also a little cooler than normal outside but the sun was shining bright so it was just a perfect morning. I want to sit out in the sun relax with a book a nice cool drink all day. Silly work getting in the way. At least I have a large window right at my desk so I get a lot of sunshine in the mornings.

Next week is the "experiment" well that's what I am calling it anyway but I am really looking forward to a change, something different and something new to learn. Got lot's of shopping to do :)

Here is how I plan for my day to go 8/6/2010

B - 1 WW whole bagel w/ 1 light laughing cow cheese & tomato + 1 banana + 1 ligth babybel cheese

S - 1 Yoghurt

L -Prob. Salmon Salad on multi-grain w/ side salad

S - 1 Apple

D - Not sure yet, going out for dinner and haven't decided what to eat

Drinking: 1 morning coffee + 2L water throughout the day + at least 2 cups green tea + 1 diet pepsi

Exercise: 30min brisk walk with the dog

Have a happy, healthy and OP day and weekend

Got a 12 mile walk planned so hopefully end up losing a little weight by Wednesday...you're doing so well too!! Keep it up hun x

Dealt with a very fussy baby all morning so I'm not sure if I'll make it to the workout. Not a big deal as long as my nutrition is on track. Monday the 9th is my refeed day so I'm already looking forward to my "carb up" (Whole wheat pancakes with pure Quebec maple syrup!)

@lauren good luck with the experiment I know you can do it.

@ sacha os P90X really worth it? I want reviews on it before I look into purchasing it.

@abidabbi love the new avator pic

Good luck getting the workout in @Karen and thanks for coming in and posting.

Well had a very busy night and eating wasn't exactly healthy but the scales shows no difference so it must be alright. Got in a good workout as well.
It was hard to get up today due to the busyness of yesterday but I made it in to work.

B - banana and breakfast bar
L- Tuna salad and grapes with hot tea
s- ??
dinner - chicken and salad (for real this time lol)

Exercise: I plan on resting up and getting ready for my first 5K race in 5 years I'm so excited.

Had a little bit well alot of family drama happen yesterday and I have a victory to report instead of eating the problems away like I would tend to do in the past I was VERY conscientious of what i was going to eat as well as qty. I purchased something very unhealthy but couldn't bring myself to eat it so yay me! lol.

And I was dead set on staying on plan today as well. I was tempted to go out and buy lunch but I knew I'd packed for the week and all excuses to go out were exhausted and thus I went with eating what I'd packed. go me! Hopefully this day and weekend goes the same way :)

Its overcast today. Hubby called me up this morning almost gloating that its only 93* and it seems to be getting cooler as the day progresses. He's an aircraft mechanic and this past week has been brutal, with heat index in the 117*. Its supposed to be cloudy and hopefully rain for the next few days, but then back to the heat next week. :(

MrsD, good job on your eating. Especially withstanding the unhealthy snack.

Sacha, your pancakes sound wonderful!

abidabbi, I had hair past my butt for about 10 years, it took a few false starts but now an happy with a pixie. Big changes sometimes take time, LOL. Nice to see you.

Lauren, I hear you on not wanting to drag myself out of bed. sigh. I laid down on fhe floor to spend some time with April and thought I'd fall asleep. I need to borrow Diana's coffee IV.

Penguin, they had three new things the one I got was a Grande and it is supposed to 150 calories or less, since there is no drizzle and no whip. I had a cup of coffee this morning I made myself. I am finding that again my taste are changing. I wasn't pleased with my frap yesterday and I was disappointed this morning, so maybe I'll just do away with the coffee. :) I didn't think you were teasing, at all

abidabbi, I was up .2 this morning I don't know why my weight has to play with me like that, LOL.

Today, I don't have an appetite at all. I'm tired again. I know why though, I've been leaving church pretty late. This is the last evening/night of our revival. I've also been doing my walks in the mornings which aren't so bad but everything is just a little off schedule. Back to normal next week though.

Welcome to everyone new. You'll love it here. I sure do, very caring group.

It is quite difficult and meant for people who are already quite fit (ie you can do a pullup). If that is your level, then it is fantastic. If that is too advanced, Tony Horton's Power90 is a good start before transitioning to P90x

I'm going to join in too. I haven't tried to lose weight in about 6 years until today!

My first goal is to regain control of beverages. A normal day for me has contained around 50 ounces of soda, cool aid or sweet tea. I am no good at cold turkey so moderation of sugary beverages is my goal for the week.

Today I had water, unsweetened iced tea and one cup of hot tea with sugar.

Foods today:

Breakfast:

Snack:

Lunch:
Gluten free BLT sandwich.

...and various items of chocolatey goodness throughout the day. But they don't count because they're consumed for the fact they keep you sane at work, right?

Brandilou, cute avatar. Welcome, nice to have you join us.

Paradise, I think that's what frusterates me the most about CC'ing. Trying to look up the cals and finding nothing, finding too much, or, my personal favorite, x amount of cals per 'serving' but no information as to what a serving is.

Diana - I have the FIRMs Bootcamp 101 which is a jump rope workout and a weighted ball workout. Today was the first time I tempted the jump rope workout and it was too hard for me right now . It is about a 20 min routine but I only lasted for about 8 (if that). I have to work my way up to that one.

i know i haven't posted any foods yet..i have been trying to regulate my sleep schedule to mirror my husband's..he goes to work 8a-5p monday thru friday..i am a nocturnal creature and when he gets home, i can either be asleep or awake (i sleep at about 8a-10a)..

the pattern i have observed is as follows: his dinner is my "breakfast", so it's pretty heavy, and my "lunch" is, well, considered to be a light after midnight snack to him..dinner isn't really much of an option because i do not like eating really early in the morning (before i go to bed) so it is just something light..my calorie counting day, however, starts with the light meal and ends with something moderate (i did this for calendar purposes on my phone, i still follow regular calendar days, btw)

so i start with:

8/6/2010

Dinner (meal before my bedtime, about 6am): 32 oz brewed iced tea (8 cals), 3 medium slices of homemade buckwheat bread (~215 cals)

Breakfast: 1 cup curried basmati rice (204 cals), 1 cup cooked pinto beans (313 cals), water to drink

Lunch (my midnight meal): 2 bananas (120 cals), water to drink

then my husband indulged me with a

Snack: one slice cheesecake (from the bakery at wal-mart cheesecake sampler, 390 cals) yikes! :nono:

no exercise..bad..bad..had water throughout the day though.. :D

Hello everyone! I'd like to join in, my name is Bridgette or you can call me dream. I'm a calorie counter and normally an avid exerciser. Since the beginning of summer things have been going down hill for me, mostly the eating part, but lately the exercising has been hit and miss. I'm hoping that by checking in here daily I can get back on track and lose the last 35 pounds.

Eating was way outta control today...I started out with good intentions but as you can see it didn't last long.

Lunch: Crispy chicken sandwich (spose to be grilled but MCD's messed up) and small french fry

Lean Cuisine deluxe pizza with Ms. Dash hot and spicy blend all over the top (yum) and a mini box of raisins

Snack: 110

Dinner: 350
MY MOM cooked:
2 baked chicken tenderlions no skin, 1/2 sweet potato, 1/2 ear of corn,1/2 cup broccoli, cauliflower (that I picked out) and carrots, 2 slices of cantalope (straight from her garden) 1 very thin slice of dark steakhouse bread (like at Outback) YUMMY THANK YOU I LOVE MY MOM!! she eats like that every meal. I bet I would lose weight fast if I went to live with her :) :)
Plenty of water and fluids...
Everyone have a great night!!

hello all! I am back home. I am worn out. And now I am a little bummed. i had a little fantasy in my head...i would get home and jump on the scale and in the middle of the day fully clothed and full of junk food from lunch---i would be no more than 179 lbs. NOT! i JUST hopped on the scale and it said 185 with all of the above. But i do have a wendy's meal in me and was fully dressed.

I KNOW i had to have done something. We were going, going, going...during my vacation. it makes me want to whine....and go eat some chinese food or something...but i know that won't make me lose any weight faster!!!!

Hey guys,

Weekend was OK i guess.... Good news is that I did my first 5K this past Saturday and it was really good. I kind of bombed by starting out waaayyy too fast but to be over 300 lbs and to run a 5k in the time that I did was phenomenal! I cried a couple times or at least prevented myself from crying a couple of times by stifling the tears lol. It was a very emotional race for me. seeing that many fit active people together in one place and knowing that I was a part of it even if I didn't essentially "fit in", and knowing that I could finish this thing. The last time I raced was in 2005 and I weighed 240-250 lbs and I ran the 5K in 41:36 which seems like a really fast time compared to what I do now lol. My race time Saturday was 53:19 I walked more than I ran due to realization that I do not have the right shoes (entire left foot went numb while running) after some great advice from the orthopedics person did an evaluation. I kind of bought my own shoes due to finances thinking I could mentally remember all the steps I took to get the right shoe lol well I think I'll get my next pair the right way this time. My eating the rest of the day was absolutely not the best AT ALL. I actually had McDonald's meal very late at night because I hadn't eaten all day. I haven't had Mickey D's in a very LONG time.
Got up Sunday went to church then spent 5 hours on a very HOT football field watching my son play 2 games of football only drinking water and one pop. Got home laid down snacked for a couple hours went to sleep then made dinner ate @ 8:45-9:00 then went to sleep. I feel very sluggish today missed my morning run - will get it in this evening and I'm staying OP today. I hate this feeling. Along with a little finances stress. Trying to figure out how to pay bills and get school stuff together right now. aarrgghh. Sorry no internet at home so I had to update all this when back at work today lol.

Oh yeah
B- Banana, and a breakfast bar and coffee w/ creamer and splenda
L - salmon, relish, mustard, grapes, tea
s= ??
D - split pea soup with mushrooms and shredded cheddar cheese YUM!

Welcome to the thread brandilou & Dream710! :welcome:

MrsD - Congrats on the 5K, that is an amazing accomplishment, well done :cp:

love2b150 - Congrats on that extraordinary 20lbs lost, you are amazing. Well done :cp: And yes, a YAY for you :)

Penguin - TAX-FREE! TAX-FREE! Yay! What did you buy??

I hope everyone had good weekends, mine was nice and relaxing for a change. On Saturday we went to a local farm and picked strawberries which was a lot of fun. And boy are they delicious! Soooo much better than store brought! Yum Yum! We also got a lot of other veggies and fruits that taste super good, sooo fresh! Yesterday I made a huge batch of veggie chilli with them.

Today is the first day of the "experiment". I am doing Vegetarian throughout the day with only 1 meat protein at night. That also means no more morning coffee's!!!! Gonna be tough but I have my green tea to pull me through.

Here is the plan 8/9/2010

B - 2 slices WW multi-grain bread w/ natural peanut butter + homemade smoothie w/ soy milk, blueberries, strawberries and banana

S - 1 Apple

L - Homemade Portobello Whole Wheat Penne + 1 salad w/ mixed greens, tomato, cucumber and cal.wise balsamic dressing

S - Handful of Organic Tortilla Chips w/ organic salsa

D - Homemade Chicken Fajitas (Chicken breast in homemade marinade, whole wheat tortillas, red peppers and onions, salsa and low-fat sour cream)

Drinking: At least 2 cups green tea + 2L water throughout the day + 1 diet pepsi

Exercise: 30min brisk walk with the dog

Have a happy, healthy and OP day :)

thanks for the welcome back. Well i am officially going to sit back and SULK. I am 2 lbs heavier than the day i left for vacation. I can HOPE it's just water weight since I got dehydrated and sun burned..and swallowed A LOT of ocean water.

but yeah right.

I just hope i don't go into a screw-it-i'll-just-binge-mode!!!

i am REALLY upset!!

no, i didn't eat alot of food at all. I burned so many calories--it shouldn't matter!

MrsDawsondn
08-09-2010, 10:34 AM
Jendiet I say this with as much love and kindness as I can. Stop stressing out over a number on the scale.... Your hard work pays off in more ways than one and like you said you've put in the work, your eating has been better than pre-lifestyle changes. So look at the good in all this. You had a relaxing vacay (hopefully) now it's back to the grind. No need to stress out or even be upset. Cause from where I stand it looks as if you've almost lost 15-20 lbs. That is an accomplishment worth patting yourself on the back. The more you stress out about that scale the more you take your eyes off of your achievements. TODAY is a new day you cannot get back yesterday and you have no idea what tomorrow holds. You have to take this thing ONE Day at a time and keep moving FORWARD no regrets! We didn't put this weight on overnight and we're not going to lose it overnight. It takes perseverance and the willingness to continue. Get some water in to reduce water weight stick to plan and get some positive vibes going your way. NO way in the world should a number on a scale dictate how you go about your day. There's always Today and as long has you have breath in your lungs, muscles in your body, the activity of your limbs, and a clear conscience you can move FORWARD. Get past the mental blocks of a number on a scale and keep moving forward sis.
And believe me I take my own advice as well lol.

abidabbi
08-09-2010, 10:39 AM
jendiet - we won't let you go into binge mode because you have already come so far and a little blip won't stop you! You put on 2 lbs. You've lost 17lb....17lb...lost! Come on girl, keep your chin up, shrug it off and smile. You CAN do it (you've already proved that) and you WILL do it (because you want to). You said yourself, you havn't eaten too much so you should be back on track in no time...I'm sure of it.

Be strong and keep going, we're all here for you, anytime :)

I'll give a quick run down of my weekend, the best bit of which was the weigh in this morning that said I'd lost nearly two pounds this week. I'm classing it as one, just in case. I was looking after the dog, which meant lots of walkies. We did a quick walk on Friday night. I struggled a bit on Friday as the people I was house sitting for had bought me loads of junk food and wine to work my way through (lovely and very sweet of them). I managed (just) to avoid having any of the chocolate and had a small dinner as I said I would. A couple of slices of toast and a bowl of cereal.

Breakfast on Saturday was two slices of toast and low fat spread. We did a 3 hour walk on Saturday and then chilled at home when my man and his son arrived. I'm quite proud of this next bit. They ordered pizza. PIZZA! PIZZA!!!! And chips. And opened all the sweets we had been left. And crisps. And what did I do? I went in the kitchen and I made a small bowl of pasta with tomatos and tuna. And I enjoyed it. And I covered up the leftover pizza and it went in the fridge for my friends. YES! I had a small glass of red wine with my food, went to bed slightly hungry and mighty proud. So a small calorie day on Sat because I was busy with the hound.

So to Sunday. We got up, had breakfast (toast...what a surprise!)...we then walked to a small coffee shop I love. I didnt want to splurge any cals on a drink so I had fresh orange. Then walked the boys to the train station (about an hours walk)...then went on to do the most epic gym session ever. 800 cals in 75 minutes. That was 15 mins rowing and an hour on the xtrainer. And situps and weights (which I dont count as calories)...800 cals!!! I'd like to get to 1000cal sessions if I can, 4-5 times a week.

Went back to the house (another hour of walking), walked the dog (20 mins), had some frozen veg and a cuppa and then went to my home when the hounds parents returned. Phew!

Wow, what a boring post I have just made! Sorry!

Today:
B - wheatabix x 2 (200 cal)
L - kiwi fruit, pineapple, strawberries, cucumber, olives and a bagel (probably around 400 cal)
And this evening I will have a grilled chicken sandwich as I have a lot of work to do for tomorrow at Uni.

No gym tonight, I don't have time and I need a day off. But here's to a monster session tomorrow and getting to 166 by Monday next week...PLEASE!!!

Love to everyone  and hope you're all ok, healthy and happy today...

Hello Everyone! Hope everyone's week has started off good. :)

I've been MIA...the details are in my 3FC blog if you're curious. To make a long story short, last week was a bad week, a very bad week!

I'm up 2 pounds, but I think its water weight due to my recent dr ordered inactivity. Hope to be back on track by Friday's weigh in.

Daily Points: 30

Breakfast: frosted flakes & milk ~ 7.5 points
Dinner: hamburger with bun & cheese ~ 10 points
Snack:
Supper:

Water: 50oz
Total Points:

Supper at the in-laws this evening to celebrate my sil's boyfriend's birthday. I know there isn't going to be a single healthy thing to eat, so I am debating on filling up on veggies here and then having only a couple bites of cake and ice cream. But then there is the worry of upsetting my mil if I don't eat...this is why I have told my husband I don't like doing food related events with his family...grrr. I will figure it out and everything will be fine.

Brandilou Aww, look at the puppy. What a beautiful face!

Abidabbi I had shoulder length or longer hair for a long time. I had been thinking about cutting it short for a while, but didn't mention it to anyone. I was in for my monthly cut/color and was talking to the hairdresser about cutting it short. She said "I'm so glad you mentioned this. I have been wanting to cut your hair short for a long time but I didn't want to tell you." DH's appointment is right after mine but I get there earlier than him because of the coloring. Anyways, her and I had a plan. She colored my hair first. I waited for DH to come in. I kinda mentioned to him about getting my hair cut short, and the hairdresser jumped in about how good it would look, blah, blah, blah. She cut it and I have worn it short ever since. I diddn't want DH to have a heart attack because I never even mentioned it to him.. :D I kept going shorter for a while after that. My hair is shorter now than it is in my avatar, but the style is still the same.

MrsDawson Great job on the 5K!

Lauren No coffee? That's totally unacceptable for me. :D Believe me, the people around me want me to have my coffee as much as I want it. :dizzy: :D

Jendiet I agree with everyone. And no binges! That will cause even more problems, and don't forget about the guilt. You don't need that drama. Two pounds is nothing, especially if you enjoyed yourself. Chances are it's water weight.

Spring Geesh! What a week! I bet you are glad to see a new week!

bad weekend..really bad..

it all started with a beer on saturday night..beer something i cannot give up yet..mmm....it's not the light stuff either..it's the good ol' red budweiser..then the drinking progressed into sunday night (up to this morning) was worse..i do not remember how many beers i have had (makes it hard to count my calories) but i am certain that i have consumed about 3000 calories this weekend just on beer alone..and that is a VERY modest approximation..i still have to factor in the chips and popcorn (i eat my popcorn with only pepper, garlic powder, and a little salt..this is one of the few things i have not given up, my only junk food pleasure, and has been for the past 4 months)..but let this be known: neither i nor my body was happy with the chips..i still feel nasty and bloated (haven't had them tater chips in a while) and that made me realize why i gave them up in the first place..i didn't portion them either..so aside from the ~3000 beer calories, i gotta add the junk food calories, and i am certain that i consumed close to 4500-5000 calories (including the food i eat to get healthier, none of which i recorded)

bad bad bad..this weekend was a total mess, mostly my fault for agreeing to drink..i am disappointed in myself, but this forum makes me accountable for everything that goes in my body as well as the exercise i do (this weekend, it was none)..before i counted calories, i never realized how much of it was going towards the beer, then the late night/early morning fast food munchies (nowadays, it's just the beer..it has been since i changed my diet)..in a sense i am proud of myself for realizing (thru this forum) that my normal choice of beer may not be the best choice, even though it is more palatable than all light beers (to me).

i eat diet everything to drink regular beer (that was a joke i came up with this weekend).

weekends like this do not happen all the time..but i should still make myself accountable..i know that being inebriated is not good either, so next time, i will just limit myself to about 5 beers spread throughout the night..that is a lot less than what i currently consume, but it will give me enough satisfaction (i will not get drink with 5 beers..there is no need to be drunk anyway..just want it for the flavor)..i have to make changes to get the results i want. and to have better health. and i am gonna be doing this all for me, my husband, and my future children.

@wiki knowing is half the battle and I'm pulling for you and I know you can do this. Sounds like alot of us had bad weekends but isn't it wonderful to wake up with a new chance to get it together and kick this weight in the bootay lol. And I agree accountability here definitely makes you think twice about what you put into your mouth and how honest you can be not only with this site but with yourself about the healthy eating choices that you make. Here's to you gettin er' done and getting healthier for you, the hubby and future kids. ;)

My day has been good. I did a 3 mile walk early this morning and eating has been clean today.

B: 1 chicken leg, coffee w/2% milk & SF cameral syrup
S: Almonds
L: 1 chicken leg & 1 wing, salad w/FF dressing, 3 sm pcs dark choc
D: 1 chicken leg, green beans, coffee w/2% milk & SF caramel syrup
Exercise: Walked 3 miles @ Stone Mtn

Diana - well it definitely suits you! I didn't tell my Mum (the one who wanted me to have long hair my whole life!) but she loved it. I keep having different styles, but I like the length in my picture because I don't have to do much with it...exercising is so much easier with shorter hair too!!

Wiki - aw  Now, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move forward. You've lost nearly 10 lbs...that's not a small amount! You can do it. As the MrsD and GettingFit said, knowing and admitting is half the battle...speak to us us on here if you need some support because I know everone is rooting for you.

GettinFit - well done on the 3 miles...and in the morning too...phew! I am lucky to open my eyes before I get to work!!!

Tonight I had a grilled chicken (120) in a bun (250) for dinner with some chips (300 cal to be safe though prob half that) (gulp) and a Bueno bar (240cal)

So 790 to add to my 600 from earlier...1510cal today, hopefully less as I have over estimated a bit to be safe. Need to do a lot at the gym tomorrow - going to try for a 1000cal session straight after work and eat small tomorrow ;)

Today I was unable to workout as my baby was having a colic meltdown and my DH was not able to handle it (men seem to always want to fix things quickly, rather than just be there and let it work out over a long period of time with patience). Too bad, I even just bought my new sweatband for my hair.

August 9, 2010 - REFEED DAY! (1670 cals, 200 more than usual, with +80g carbs,180 total, and -20g protein, 160 total)
B-Oatmeal cottage cheese pancakes - WITH REAL QUEBEC SYRUP! :-) Yay! This was my weekly treat meal (I don't believe in cheats - I work what I want into my calories)
L-Protein Rush! brand drink from GNC
S-1 lemon potato and 42g carbs of lemon rice (leftover from DH's greek last night)
D-Not sure. Lemon grill shrimp with romaine parmesan??? Have got to work that into my calories.

I tried a new Greek yogurt. Normally yogurts are too sweet and have too many carbs or calories. I like the flavor these, but I don't want that much sugar and they don't have enough protein. I don't like the flavor of plain yogurt. I have never found one that really fit my needs. OMG! I love the Yoplait Greek 2X protein yogurt. The one I tried today is honey vanilla and it is absolutely delicious! It has 130 calories, 19 carbs and 12 protein. This one is like dessert good.

Hello Everyone!

Yesterday I was lurking around but was a little too ashamed to post since I had a binge. :nono: Since I was considering loosely following the south beach diet, I decided to just nit pick at some of the frozen treats I had remaining in my freezer. Well one ice cream sandwich turned to about 4. I also had a little bit of pizza and other junk. I input most of it into fitday but I really don't have the exact amount of calories because I kept eating after I input everything. I didn't beat myself up but I realize that I need to get rid of those foods and find healthier alternatives. One of my most serious issues is using food as a "reward" because I had a good week but all of that goes to waste on the weekends when I either eat too little or eat too much!

So I'm back on plan today, staying positive. I have managed to decrease my carbs, get more veggies in and increase calories since I am going to be exercising harder :woops:. I have kinda hit a plateau so hopefully this will help me kick the fat burning furnace back into gear. I WILL SUCCEED!!! :carrot:

Stats: Total for the day 1,792 (I feel very full compared to last week and I have only eaten about 100-150 more calories)

B-plain old fashioned oatmeal, 1 tsp raisins, 2 eggs, 1 tsp parm. cheese, 1 tsp fresh salsa
S- Small apple
L- 1 c Turkey Chili, 1/2 oz mild cheddar, 2 handfulls of fresh steamed string beans
Pre Workout - 6 oz yogurt
Post Workout - 2 scoops chocolate protein powder
D- Turkey sandwich made with 100 cal Sandwich round, 1 oz mozzarella, one slice tomato, swipe of mayo & mustard, 1 cup of tomatoes, okra & corn

64 oz water
8 oz crystal light

30 Min - interval walking/jogging
20 min - Denise Austin's shrink your female fat zones

I think I need to come in here several times a day so I can respond to everyone as well. I'm hoping that everyone meets their goals and more this week!!!! Lets all stay positive!!!! :goodluck:

Hi everyone,
Another good beverage day for me. I have consumed 60 ounces of sugary drinks in the last 4 days. Normally I would have consumed about 200 ounces during the same period!

Today's drinks:
Water
One cup hot tea w/ sugar

I have been on a "staycation" with my family. Tomorrow will be my first day back at work in over a week. I WILL stay strong! Between the cafe and the vending machines I get so tempted.

I have a plan! My water bottle is ready for the morning. I'm hoping to drink 2 full bottles (48 total ounces). Then when I finish that I have some unsweetened iced tea prepared.

Diana - Thanks for the tip about the horseradish mayo. I bought one bottle a few weeks ago, but I have not tried it out yet. I'll definitely try it on a sandwich this week.

Hello everyone,

I am new to 3FC (joined yesterday) and am excited for august (as i am nine days in it already). my plan is to stop drinking soda pop and caffiene (can't drink black coffee so defeats the purpose when you have to put in sugar and cream) and walking every day (not sure the distance yet but getting active is a BIG thing for me).

Diana I bought Greek Yogurt last week I like it also. I was gonna try the Yoplait brand but it cost more. Maybe I'll buy a few to try them out tomorrow.

QuietStorm, don't be embarrassed. Post often especially when you feel like you may do something you won't want to post. No one here will get on you, they'll all help pick you back up.

You ladies are so wonderful. But , i did stay in bed all day, and I lost a fight with cookies, but I only ate 5.

I was just so tired and overwhelmed.

One thing the vacation was NOT was relaxing. NO RELAXING PERIOD. but it was FUN.

I came home so WORN out. I don't know if anybody has been to the beach--but trying to stand in the waves, and swim against them, does a number on you.

we got there Wednesday night-had a night trip to the beach. Thursday--we swam for 4 hours in the ocean, Friday was 4 hours at the water park Which involved ALOT of stair climbing, then a quick trip to the beach. . Saturday was more beach, and sea shell hunting. but we were all so burnt. Sunday was packing and LOTS of stair climbing with heavy stuff.

I am letting go of my disappointment and I will remember just how good i looked in my two piece. Even my SO's brother thought i had lost alot of weight from last year. I didn't. I actually weighed less last year at the same time, but i look better now.

so that is a non scale victory.

quiet storm--welcome, don't be afraid to post!
love, thanks for the pep talk, i am just so OVER the 180s. I hope your wi goes good tomorrow.

brandi, cute avatar, and good job on having the plan!

diana, i love greek yogurt. I was disappointed when i found out they only use cheese cloth to make it, for the price difference! i just bought the bigger plain version and bought a can of red tart cherries to mix in. thanks for the encouragement!!!

spring, i pray it goes better. take it one day at a time, and it willl get easier.

Dawson! Awesome on the 5K. you are rocking it!!! i haven't run since i went on vacation. the bottoms of my feet are so torn up from the beach and water park--i've been taking it easy on them! Good job on the running--i find it very pleasureable.

lauren good job staying on plan!!

sorry, if i missed anybody--my eyes are all squinty and tired.

abidab, love the hair! so pretty. I want to cut mine again, but i'm going to wait to do it for the locks of love. I technically could now, but i want to have about shoulder length hair--and you need 10 inches. great job on the killer workout.

welcome lori, i don't know SODA IS ALOT worse than coffee with cream and sugar. See what you can and can't tolerate. Some people just need caffeine.

sacha, i am sorry your lo still has colic. Take care of yourself and try to get some rest.

paradisefalls, good job on staying in control for the rest of the night.

fit, do you live near stone mountain? i hiked it once. it was fun.

Wiki, i agree, you know what your battle is, you can beat it though. Sounds like you did drink alot. but a one timer--will not hurt. you most likely will be up weight wise from it, but you can drop it again.

Welcome to lori - everyone on here is great and has given me a lot of support and good vibes ;)

and welcome back quietstorm...never be ashamed to post...NEVER! We all have bad times, but we gotta move forward and what better place to do it than here where I can say with almost 100% certainty that most of us will have had crappy days where it all goes pear shaped. Keep going hun, you can do it!

Dream, Penguin, Brandilou, Love and Diana - well done, stay strong :)

Paradise Falls - my main downfall is Baileys...the worst possible drink in the history of dieting. I may as well eat butter ;) Hence I stay well away!!!

Had wheatabix for breakfast. (200 cals)

Today will be a small day as I will be gyming tonight. Had a massive row with the other half last night...I hate rowing. But it stresses me out to the point I can't eat now (I used to comfort eat). I guess we'll see where we end up, but this morning he still wasn't talking to me. It's wierd, I was ready to put it behind me this morning, but he wasn't. And he's supposed to be more mature (he's 42, I'm 25). All because of his horribe ex-wife. Grrrrr ¬_¬

Hi Everyone

wikid - I hear ya on the beer! I am Australian so beer is just another food group for me :) However, I have been limiting my consumption. On the weekend I limited myself to 2 beers (and none of that light crap!) spread over the night and I can tell you I enjoyed them and felt great the next morning. No hangover, no bloating. Drinking is a hard thing to give up, especially when it doesn't seem like you are consuming so much but when you start really looking at what you are really eating and drinking it all comes into perspective. Live and Learn eh.

GettinFit - You are doing great as always :)

Sacha - "I don't believe in cheats - I work what I want into my calories" That is so perfect and exactly how a lifestyle change, not a diet, should be. I also allow myself a treat meal once every 2 weeks.

Diana - Yay! Made it past Monday and Tuesday's practically over ... ahem ... so here comes the weekend in no time :)

Quietstorm - Please don't be ashamed, we are here to offer you support, not judge you :) You seem to have gotten straight back OP after that little slip up, good job. You know, things like that are exactly what this thread is all about, accountability. Everyone makes mistakes or slips-up occasionally, that is just a fact of life and trying to lose weight. But being able to say "Ok, I slipped but i'm here and ready to put it behind me" means that you CAN move forward - with the support and motivation given here you can always get through it.

brandilou - well done staying OP and love the avatar, very cute pup :)

Lori - Hi and Welcome to the thread! :welcome:

love2b150, Penguin & Dream - Hi

Jen - oh how I miss the beach ... you sound a little more upbeat today :)

abidabbi - Sorry about the little argument with the SO - I know I have trouble sleeping after a little row - my SO and I have agreed to never go to bed mad and mostly it has worked but there have been a few days were it has been tough to get to sleep.

Here is my plan for 8/10/2010

B - 2 slices WW multi-grain bread w/ natural peanut butter and sugar free blueberry jam + 1 soy choc & vanilla pudding + 1 cup mixed strawberries & blueberries

S - 1 Banana

L - 1/3 cup rice w/ homemade veggie chilli + salad of mixed greens, tomato, cucumber and cal.wise zesty italian dressing

S - Kashi Granola Bar

D - Sizzling Black Bean Beef w/ sugar snap peas and rice

Drinking: At least 2 cups green tea + 2L water throughout the day + 1 diet pepsi

Exercise: 30mins brisk walk with the dog

Have a happy, healthy and OP day :)

Diana - I am really enjoying the change to vegan actually, the organic food tastes better, so I am enjoying what I am eating more, my body feels better, I don’t feel bloated at all, and really I just feel all round a lot better about myself. Thanks for asking :)

@Jen thanks for the kudos I was wondering how you were faring today thanks for the update glad you are doing better. rest is good I'm glad you got it even if for a little while. Sounds like all that sand and stairs helped with the workouts too.
@quietstorm welcome back glad to have you post away!
@lori welcome to august accountability thread you will love these gals their the best ;)
@brandilou I agree with others on this one I think Coffee has way less cals than pop but as long as it's in moderation you should be good to go.

Got in my morning workout today yippee! Ran 25 minutes straight no stopping I'm so proud that I didn't pass out LOL. I need new running shoes ASAP though I can feel my foot at the tip of my shoe and I don't have any toe space when i run cause my feet swell up. Last night hubby wanted me to stay in with him instead of going out running. So we chilled out and he says he can see the diff couldn't keep his hands off of me haha attraction felt great! I did REALLY well on my eating yesterday I only consumed 1650 cals go me. That's less than my targeted 1800 Cals.

So todays menu is :

B- Hostess cupcakes with cream filling and yellow icing 410
Coffee w/ creamer - 30 cals
L- 1 cup Salmon raw with relish and mustard - 210
Oatmeal cream pie
S - ??
D - Green split pea soup with mushroom and shredded cheddar cheese
small chicken thigh Baked with skin

120 ounces of water

@ thanks Lauren and you are too it seems I've been thinking about eating organic you're definitely inspiring me.

Oh oh and another great change I noticed. I stopped drinking coffee for about 4 months and at the race this past weekend they were giving out free starbucks so I gave it a go sans sugar. EXCELLENTE! All I had in it was half and half and vanilla flavoring and it tasted like a latte. So lately I've had my coffees with out dumping a lb of sugar in them and it tastes great. As long as I have a flavored creamer I'm good. I never thought I'd see this day. I used to have a saying "I like lots of coffee in my sugar" lol this is a NSV for me.

FINALLY, down to 178.8 this morning. Keep going. I want to get to at least 176 by the end of this week--so I can feel OUT of the 180s again. with all the calories i burned, once i drop the water weight--that should be possible. we will see though.

L R K
08-10-2010, 10:49 AM
MrsD - Def. try the organic foods, they taste so much better! And I am finding that lately there isn't a huge difference in price between organic and regular. And well done on that coffee NSV - I have been without coffee for 2 days now and I can't really say I miss it. Well I miss the taste, not the caffeine which is good. Perhaps next time I go to Starbucks I will try something a little less sweet.

Diana - Thanks! I am also lucky because I live in an area with lot's of farms, so super fresh fruits and veggies! The grocery store organic items are also a lot more reasonable now.

Jen- Yay! You can do it!

My first week went well! I am really happy with myself. I have been really focusing on my diet and eating clean and I am down 8 LBS!!!!!!! I am pleased to have tweaked my calories and I am noticing a big and positive differences.

:carrot::carrot::carrot:

After all of the injuries, I am thinking about starting back to the gym tomorrow. I'd like to get there 2x this week. Taking these last 3 weeks off has been a GOD send for me! Not only has my body healed and rested but my mind has gotten much clearer. I didn't realize the destructive behaviors I had until it was too late. My injuries have taught me to slow down and focus on the more important things.

Someone on 3FC said to me that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise and that really hit home with me. I think I was looking at it the other way around....which I realize now why is so wrong. For whatever reason, that made it easier for me to focus on my diet and realize that it IS something that I can take total control of. My exercise will fall into place. I loved the feeling I got when I was running, I will get that back in time. I am hoping to do it injury and crazywoman free this time. :) :)

Hi Vixsin!!! Welcome :D

Todays lunch was a bagel and quorn (300) and some olives and cucumber (100). So total today is 600 cals and I will have maybe some soup for dinner. Hoping to stay below 1000cal for the day. Wasn't too hungry as spent the whole morning worrying about my other half getting rid of me or something along those lines. We went to lunch (we both work at the Uni) and he proceeded to be a complete pain in the backside. I don't argue, I tend to think, say one thing and it's done. We're ok again now but I got my two-cents in too today...I need to stick up for myself more often...

Going to the gym tonight for an hour and half if not a bit more...hopfully get to 1000 cals tonight but will be happy to see 800 again.

abidabbi I'm sorry that you and your other half are having a conflict. I didn't understand your post originally. Although I thought I did. :o All I could think about is you are a better person than me for rowing. I know rowing would cause even more neck issues for me. :o I didn't realize "rowing" was fighting/arguing until I read Penguin's post. So sorry you are going through this.

Thanks Penguin and Diana...I think its ok now, we just needed to iron some things out. I love him, that's the main thing. But sometimes we need to readjust ourselfs so we fit together properly as we both get tired, stressed and arsey. Hi ex-wife did a number on his self confidence and didn't respect him. They have a son (who is wonderful) so that means she will always be in his life and I will never get to have 'our first baby' because he already has one. Sometimes it gets to me as we both feel we have been waiting our whole lives for each other. I respect, love and am honest, kind and loyal to him. But he still has these hangups that I feel dont represent what I offer. For example, if I get a bit naffed off about a door being left open, this would have been a big thing with her, so he gets defensive and annoyed, whereas it is normal for me to be naffed off. I'm not sure I am expressing what I mean very well but it basically comes down to the fact that I think he sometimes thinks I will end up like her. Which I wont. Because Im not an evil bloodsucking lazy cow who will spend all his money and leave him with nothing. No really, I'm not ;) I'll let him make it up to me though, as last night I slept downstairs in a sleeping bag on the floor. In MY house!!!

Diana - Thanks for the tip about the horseradish mayo. I bought one bottle a few weeks ago, but I have not tried it out yet. I'll definitely try it on a sandwich this week.

I really like the Kraft Horshradish Dijon Mayo. I tried the Garlic Herb variety and absolutely hated it. In fact, I tasted it and threw the whole bottle away. I don't care if it's wasteful. I'm not going to eat that nasty stuff. :D I wish they would come out with a variety that's like Cool Dill - which would be like a sour cream/dill. Hmm, that's an idea. I need to look at the store for a salad dressing or something along those lines. Maybe I can try to make it. Hmm, gotta think on this one. :D

ETA: Thinking again. I really like Avacado. I wish Wholly Guacamole had the plain mashed avacado in little packets in our area. Here you can only find the guacamole flavored variety w/onions, etc. I don't like raw onions like that.
