I need to do this!! My exercise goals will be 90 minutes a week, so 360 for the whole month. I have not been exercising like I should and REALLY need to just get started with the exercise part of my goals...

I haven't joined any of these exercise/weight loss challenges before, so here's my first!

I am starting my whole life-style change on Monday, 2 August 2010...and since I am just beginning, I'm going to set my goal to be pretty basic, moderate, and do-able ( I don't want to set myself up for failure from the get-go!!).

So, here's what I'm thinking. PLEASE let me know if you think that I am being over zealous! I want to do this right! Any suggestions would be great! Thanks so much!

My Stats:
21 years old
200 pounds

Overall, this is what my weeks will look like:
45 minutes of exercise a day/7 days a week = 315 minutes/week
315 min/week x 4 weeks =1,260 total minutes of exercise this month!

Again, since I'm just starting out, I want to start slow and eventually build up to a lot more minutes/month.

And, if I don't exercise one day, I'll double up another day

Sound good? Any suggestions for exactly what to do for workouts?

I want to be running 30-40 minutes straight this month and power walk 20-30 minutes for a total of 1 hour of cardio a day. For example, if I run 35 mins then I will walk for 25 mins.... or if I run for 40 mins I will walk for 20 mins. My goal is to try to get out there and exercise as many days as I can.

My August goal is the same as July, crossing my fingers that I get some exercise time in when we go out of town.

August goal: 1800 minutes

Thanks for getting us going, MeowMix!

Yay everyone for setting great goals!

carosmith14: are you currently doing any exercise? Going from 0 to 45 with no rest days is a pretty fast start. But, I don't want to discourage you. The hardest thing, for me, is the time commitment. So, my suggestion is to keep the 1260 minutes number, but be prepared to do lots of different exercises if you get tired -- beginning strength training can be a nice balance to aerobic activity. A slow walk outside is always great. I count yoga and stretching in my exercise minutes if I need to make sure that I'm not overdoing it. Have fun!

Hey..
Yes, I do already exercise. I'm not an every-day exerciser, but I can get on the treadmill and run a mile 1/2 pretty easily (and walk indefinitely). I used to work out ALL THE TIME...but school became overwhelming and I found other "priorities."

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely keep my 1260 minutes number..and I know there are going to be days that I don't get to work out. I'll adjust accordingly

Thanks!!
