Spicy Chilies Rellenos

8 large seeded green chili peppers
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
2 T. salt
1 T. black pepper
1/4 c. chili powder
1 T. onion powder
2 c. grated cheddar cheese
1 large egg
1/2 c. cheese whiz
1/4 c. hot salsa

Dip the chilies into the beaten eggs. Fry in hot oil and drain. Brown ground beef. Stir in the onion powder, chili powder, salt and pepper. Drain grease and stir in cheese. Fill chilies with mixture. Combine cheese whiz and hot sauce, microwave 2 minutes, and stir well. Pour sauce over the chilies and serve.

I just made these and think I goofed. Are the green chilies fresh or canned. I had got the fresh ones, but after starting the recipe I didn't think this was right. And do you stuff the chilis before you fry them or after? Toni

Fry them before you stuff them. When you microwave them it will heat the rest of the ingredients.
