I used the loseit app, but to be honest I use FitDay now and I love it. Even though there isn't an app it's pretty easy for me to track my calories online.

I don't know about the iPad, but I have an Android phone and use FatSecret. It's free and really, really good. I can use the barcode scanner on my phone to scan the barcodes of what I eat, like oatmeal and so on.
You could check to see if FatSecret makes an iPad version!

Thanks everyone! I'll try the lose it. My ipad is wifi dependent and I don't always have internet, so I like the idea of an app.

Are there any for blackberries? That I won't have to use a data plan for? Or am I out of luck here?

I have an Android Phone too and I use Calorie Counter. Free, and it also has a barcode scanner (which is probably one of the best things ever) and the database of food is massive. I love it. Easy, easy, easy to use.

I use Diet and Food Tracker by Sparkpeople for my Android. They also have an app for iPhone as well.

I like it because you can use in in conjunction with the website. It can tally both nutrition and fitness goals. It also can suggest meal plans that you can easily swap out individual items or whole meals.

I also use the Calorie Counter by FatSecret to make searching for products a breeze. Seriously the barcode scanning option is amazing.
