Good morning everyone! Let's get off to a good start this morning, and encourage one another throughout the week.

I'll be drinking my protein shake for breakfast to start my day. I'll have vanilla gladiator with strawberries and blueberries. That's a little more than 200 calories, and very few carbs. I'll pay close attention to how long it lasts before I'm hungry again.

Today is the 31st anniversary of my father's death, at age 74 from cancer. He was a "good man" with a sharp wit, sometimes sarcastic, very generous in word and deed, and could do complicated math in his head but couldn't understand why everyone couldn't!

Mornin' chicks, I hope everyone is already planning for a successful week. I am going to start my day with positive self talk and try to continue it throughout the day!

Rhonda, I would love to hear how long it is before you get hungry. Please let me know! I hope you will spend some time concentrating on the good times you had with your dad. When you talk about him, I get the feeling that he was a great guy but might have been a little hard to deal with sometimes. My dad was a very giving, caring man, but you had to dig sometimes to find that part of him. He was a little gruff, but we loved him :)

I drank the protein shake with 1 cup of frozen blueberries and 4 large strawberries about 8:15 and went to aquafit from 9-10. At 10:30 I noticed I was hungry and now, 11AM, I'm having an apple, "light" cheese stick, 10 almonds and a BIG glass of water. I figure that at just about 450 calories.

We're going to go see Knight and Day about noon, and thank goodness movie popcorn does not appeal to me.

Sloan, my Daddy was loved and respected by lots of people. He was an electrician who had his own business in a small town. He also was a binge drinker with some negative consequences. I was certain that "everyone" knew it, but it turns out that none of my friends in high school really did (or at least say they didn't). He had had a rough life in his youth (mother died when he was young, father was rough, etc) and he was depressed much of his adult life. He was involuntarily institutionalized when I was a teen and was given shock treatments. He said they made him feel better but he did have some memory loss that he regretted. All in all, though, he was proud of his accomplishments and his children.

I am off to run errands and find the Smoothy King in town...

Rhonda ..do you make it with water or milk???

While we are talking about dad's . Mine passed away in 1998.
The same year my hubby ran off with his secretary.. That was a rough year...
He was with me visiting my brother's family and had a heart attack.
We got him to the ER but they could not save him. It gives me comfort that
he was surrounded with his whole family and all his grandkids his last day.
He was the most generous, humble man I have ever known. He never knew an enemy and people loved him the minute they met him.
We got him a framed poem for his mantle that was titled
"Grandpa doesn't care"
He doesn't care when I pick his green tomatoes, lose his keys, spill my ice cream, and the list goes on...
One of my favorite things was how when you left from visiting he would help you load the car and keep talking and follow you down the drive ,like he was going to follow the car all the way home. That makes me smile to just think about.
I sorta do the same thing with my kids now.. Check their tires as they drive off ..LOL.

Hi Ladies:)

Had a wonderful day yesterday and evening watching the fireworks. The were in 3 D form as they were so close to us we felt like we could touch them. Before that we had hot dogs hamburgers & potato salad.

This morning I went for my MRI and had to travel around the hospital for that. They told me when I made the appointment to register at the Faxon bldg but when I got there the sign told people to go to the ER instead. I had pass by the ICU and made me a little queasy. The tech told me the doctor will get the report in a few days.

When getting out off the hospital the temps & humidity was so bad that I decided to go home and stay in my a/c house. The radio recommended that also. Traffic off the Cape is a nightmare my next door neighbor is heading right into it,he has to go to Syracuse NY. TG I live here all year round.

W-I today and I lost 3 lbs. I assume that I hadn't had any heavy dinners in the last few days, didn't cook to avoid a hot kitchen,so salad and sandwiches were on the menu.

RHONDA-Thanks for the new pages, 31 years losing your father to cancer, I lost mine 21 years ago,and now it going to be a year in Nov that I lost my Leo. What Kind of protein shake do you use. I use the Designers brand. The flavors in choc, van & strawberry. Just going to eat lite in order to get my weight down.

SLOAN-That the best way is to think and act positive.

NANCY-That's a beautiful poem,thanks for sharing.

Have to go,expecting the electrician to come to fix my out door lamp pole light switch.

Nancy, I use water because that's what the instructions say. Maryann, we're talking about a protein powder from Smoothie King, called Gladiator.

I'm enjoying the Dad stories. And, Maryann, I still can't walk into a hospital without wishing I were really somewhere else. And, my husband died at home and 24 years ago.

So, I was hungry again at 2:30, 3 1/2 hours after the snack. I made lunch my main meal and had meat loaf, squash and turnip greens from the Black-Eyed Pea (no bread). I'll see if they have the calorie count posted on-line.

Good afternoon, Chickies. I'm off to a good week, too. Had physical therapy this AM then did some training after lunch. Now I'm just chillin' taking it easy in the recliner.

My eating's been good today. I had a shake, too, but it's not a protein shake. It's made with sf/ff vanilla pudding mix and frozen fruit. The one I had today was made with frozen Mandarin oranges.

I miss my father, too. He passed away about 28 years ago, but it seems like just yesterday he was walking around singing "It's Such a Pretty World Today. Look at the sunshine.....Every day's the same since I met you....."

It sounds like we're all "Daddy's Girls." That makes me smile.

Rhonda, thank you for bringing up these memories.

I'm OP.

DH and I have been working outside all day. Boy is it hot! I've been op all day, and with the sweating I'm hoping I'm headed in the right direction.

I like the dad stories, too. Rhonda, my dad had a rough time growing up, too. Sandra, when you mentioned that your dad sang, it reminded me that my DD has a voice mail of my dad singing Happy Birthday to her. I have not listened to it, yet. I don't think I'm ready to hear his voice.

I still have some work to do outside, but I had to wait for DH to help me so I came in to check on y'all. I'll BBL :D

Just reporting the hunger pangs. I was not hungry after lunch until about 7:15, just about 5 hours after eating. I've just had the protein shake with peaches canned in water and a few blackberries.

My Daddy didn't sing, but my mother did.

We got so much done today! It feels really good to do routine things. I have stayed op, too! I didn't get to do the bowflex. Maybe tomorrow.

Rhonda, sounds like your plan is keeping you feeling full.

Sandra, how many calories do you think your shakes are?

Have a good night, y'all!

OK, I had the last protein shake around 7PM and I was not hungry last night and did not wake up hungry. It's now almost 7AM and I'm hungry. I think I'll wait though to have the shake around 8:15 and then go to aquafit. Todd said to eat something about 45 minutes before exercise.

Sandra, the blueberries are frozen but I'll try freezing the other fruit too. I have a stash of frozen bananas I could use. Of course, they are very high in carbs.

OK, Nancy and Sloan...let's get those 5 pounds off! (Nancy, your ex sounds like my brother!)

Good Morning Chicks! Up early to take Jim to see the wound specialist at the hospital for his heel. Internist is wanting to be cautious since Jim is diabetic. Then, I hope, more swimming, WITH Jim. We'll see what the Doctor says.

I hope to be back later or in the morning to catch up.

Be well and be on program! I stayed the same yesterday.

Good Morning Ladies:)

A heat alert is again called for our town and they saying that the elderly and people that having trouble breathing should stay in doors. I'm going out wit my friend Mary to see the movie Grown Up's is suppose to be a funny movie & that's what my friend need right now.

Right now I have my 2 ac going one in the loft and other other in the living-room. My peppers are growing nicely and so are my tomatoes, but some one told me not to water my plants in the evening but early morning. Gardener, which is correct????

RHONDA-I know,I guess it going to take time but then your still hurting so I guess we never do get rid of that feeling. Yesterdays MRI appointment was the first time I had to pass the ICU as the doors to the main hospital were closed every one going to the hospital had to go to the ER end. My results should be back in a few days, and hopefully I will know what wrong with my shoulder.

SANDRA-You mentioning mandarin oranges just reminded me of a new salad that I had at the 99 restaurants It was a grilled chicken, grape tomatoes, strawberry, mandarin oranges and sugar coated pecan on spinach greens with a balsamic dress. Its was so refreshing and I have made it several time at home.

SLOAN-You and you DH should over do it in this heat. Please take care. If it wasn't for my friend Mary wanting to go to the movies I would stay at home for the second day of the alert. Going to use my bike for exercising in a ac room while watching a computer movie.

VICKIE-Hope you DH Jim has a good visit with the wound specialist, and its not really serious. Take care both of you, I guess we'll be getting the storms that threatening you some time today hope it bring some relief.

Have to go and get ready for the day chores.

Does that mean I win the challenge LOL

I am serious about getting to 140 & then taking at least a week to maintain.
Then go for another 5 pounds
I bought GNC Optimim Ice Creme Vanilla Protein mix this am and I am going to have 2 shakes plus one small meal per day.

I will read everyone's post tonight and catch up..

I went to PT this am then came home to make lunch for Curtis and the man who was cleaning our flowerbeds. Andrew worked almost 8 hours weedeating the place then weeding the beds. They look fab!

Sloan, I make my shake with 3/4 c milk, 1 heaping teaspoon sf/ff pudding mix, some Splenda, half a frozen banana (for smoothness), and other frozen fruit. I haven't really figured the calories, but it would probably be fairly easy to do.

Rhonda, I always use frozen banana for smoothness. So far, Mandarin orange is our favorite shake.

Vickie, I hope Jim got a good report and ya'll got to swim.

Nancy, you definitely win if you weigh 60 lbs. Your goal sounds very doable. Good success to you.

Tomorrow is my injection. Melinda's coming out to shoot with me around 7 tonight. This'll be my last chance to fling arrows till the weekend.

60 pounds? NO FAIR!

OK, today I had 8 almonds; protein shake with 1/2 banana and blueberries; WW frozen chicken enchilada meal at 6 points; 1/2 Clif bar; protein shake with 1/4 cup frozen sweet cherries. I calculate that at less than 1000 calories. I'm going to go out tonight to hear some jazz and I WILL have a glass of wine or a beer.

I've been to both aquafit and to see Todd for weight lifting. That should use up some of the calories.

My little Pippi must have strained her leg. She cried then hopped around, and now she is running around like crazy. I'm glad she's okay!

Nancy, I don't want to weigh 60 pounds, but I sure would love to break my scale sometimes. I've been op again today. I'm not sure I will try the protein shake, but Sandra's recipe sounds good. I may try it and see how long before I'm hungry.

Rhonda, jazz and wine! Sounds awesome :)

Sandra, I hope your injection helps! Let us know how you do. Thanks for the "shake formula". Since I'm trying to stay core, I think I'll have one for a treat in the evening.

Maryann, yesterday was a lot cooler than today, and we stayed inside. How did you like the movie? I've heard it is very funny.

Vickie, did you and Jim get to go for a swim? I hope you got a good report at the wound specialist!

Good Morning Ladies:)

The weather with hot temps is going to break sometime on Thursday, but I have to go out today to deposit the condo fees. Had a great time at the movies. Grown Ups was kind of silly more than funny but it was a laugh. The theater was crowded on account of the high temps, and we had to sit in the back, but a least it was cool sitting there.

SLOAN-The movie was funny and we enjoyed it could believe the theater was packed with people all ages trying to keep cool.

NANCY-My scale is working right either, the balance bean doesn't want to go into the center.I do have a idea that my DGS was jumping on it it again and though off the balance. Big Congrats:carrot: on your determination to get to the 140's I admire you,for that. I hope my goal will be by the end of this year.

RHONDA=Glad you a good time at the Jazz concert. That was before my time but my dh love that kind of music, and having one beer you did great. I'm drinking water with G2[low cal] Gatorade in for flavor.

Have a nice day

It was so interesting to read about all of your Daddy memories and descriptions. My Dad was a great guy that everyone loved. He never met a stranger, which is where I got it from! He was a hard worker and good husband. My Mom and Dad held hands every where we went. He gave up on having a Son when I came along. He knew I was the last and proceeded to share his love of sports with me. This ultimately led to my great relationship with my wonderful husband. Thanks Daddy! He couldn't pass me without giving me a big hug and a kiss. He did, however, give me some horrible hang ups about my body image that I've never been able to shake. He was trying to help me lose weight but it just made me unsuccessful. He died at 58 of lung cancer, when I was only 22. I still miss him today. I love you Daddy!

Sandra, I'm thinking about you today and wishing you well and a pain free existence. Hope the epidural is a breeze. I'm so proud of you for still being on program. We are all Daddy's girls for sure. I'm surprised you'll be able to fling arrows so soon after the shot.

Rhonda, you and your weight lifting is just amazing. I don't even know what to say. My whole body is sore from taking the cover off the pool two days in a row and swimming. Of course, my hiatal hernia hurts too because I'm not supposed to be lifting more than 15 pounds. Makes for a very weak upper body. Congratulations on losing the 2 1/2 pounds! That's fabulous in such a short period of time. You definitely have your body's attention!

Sloan, it seems like the positive self is working for you. I have my best friend, Cindy's voice on my computer. It's just her cell phone answering message. I recorded it with my camera and then put it on my hard drive. I listen to it sometimes when I feel I miss her a lot. I have to be in the right place to hear it though. I wish I had a real message from her. How's Pippi today?

Mary Ann, I hope you get some information from the MRI that will help you get out of pain. Jim needs to go for another one soon but I don't know if he will. Both of his shoulders hurt; poor guy. Congratulations on losing the 3 pounds! That's a lot of weight for you to lose at once. You need to be more patient and pick something and stick with it. You seem to lose like me. Down .2, up .6, down .8, stay the same and then all of a sudden whoosh. When you are as close to your goal as some of you ladies are then it is going to go slow. The body has to be convinced you mean business. If you keep changing then the body wins!. That's just my humble opinion. Keep cool. It's really been hot here too.

Nancy, what's up GF? Did you make it back on yesterday?

I don't know how you chicks do it on 1000 or 1200 calories. Of course, most days I'm only at 1500-1600 calories and I weigh at least 100 pounds more than you guys. It's HARD. I did Optifast in the 80's with Oprah and lost 70 pounds in 6 months. It really messed up my metabolism though. I can't even think about a protein shake without getting queasy. I literally ate NO solid food for 6 months. Just those shakes. Ugh. Good luck. I'm glad you're all eating real food with the shakes.

So Jim did well with the wound care specialist yesterday. She wasn't a doctor but a PT kind of wound specialist and VERY knowledgeable. Long story short, she scraped off what had healed improperly and treated it with some antimicrobial stuff. It's covered with the "stuff" and some saline with a clear window very cool kind of bandage that bonded to his heel. He goes back in a week....NO swimming...but he can shower. I have to change the dressing every 2-3 days. I'm trained!!!! She tested the feeling in his feet and he couldn't feel the device where he has heavy callouses just at the ball of his feet. So he has to put some aloe heavy cream on his feet every night. He was supposed to be doing this all along but wouldn't listen to me. What do I know? Anyway, she explained why cracked callous feet is so dangerous for a diabetic, even for one in control. Apparently, an infection in a crack can make a diabetic go OUT of control. Even I didn't know that or I'd having been nagging more! :D;) The heel looked great when she was done and she expects that it will heal. We go back in a week. So solo pool time for me for a while longer.

I did go in the pool yesterday for about 2 hours with the Great Nieces and Nephew and their Mom and Dad. It was fun. I enjoy the kids and they enjoy swimming. I might go back in today for some quiet and solitude and a bit of exercise. Maybe I'll actually have a weight loss this week. It's supposed to rain about 3:00 so maybe I'll go in right after lunch.

WOW.....long post! Talk to you soon Chicks!

Hi All:

Vickie, that's great news about Jim's heel. Care of the feet is critical for diabetics, so I bet he got the message this time.

DH and I are sitting on the screened-in back porch, watching the evening come, listening to the cicadas begin their nightly chorus. I love these sounds. I gave him a book for his BD called, "Weird Texas" with lots of stories about bizarre happenings in this wacky state. He's reading while I write to you and do my email.

We just had a huge bowl of fruit, berries and peaches, and quoting Sandra, life is good. I didn't actually have a meal today, just shakes and cheese snacks. I wasn't hungry so I decided to take advantage of that.

I gardened for a few hours today, finally, and saw my first snake since I've moved. It was a baby, just a "garden snake"..nothing serious.

I hope you each have a good evening.

I stuck to my plan today with 2 protein shakes and a Lean Cuisine
entree, a few almonds and a cheese stick.

I decided to get the Optimum Pure Gold Whey Protein Mix from GMC.
It is delicious with milk. I'll put fruit in sometimes.
I also got some Calcium Wafers that taste like cherry candy.
I am supposed to be taking extra calcium , so this will help.

Tomorrow I am going to go thru my son's clothes with him and
take the things he doesn't wear to charity. Sort of an early
clean out to make things easier in August.

Hey chickies, I like the idea of topics, too. Tonight we had a family gathering with some special family from California that we don't get to visit with often. I ate whatever I wanted, but stayed away from most of the high carb dishes and had only two tablespoons of banana pudding. I am okay with that and will be back op tomorrow. I have lost a couple of pounds, but it's probably water. I am sticking with this, and I WILL be lighter when school starts.

Pippi is fine today. I think she must have a weak leg 'cause every now and then she seems to strain it then acts perfectly fine. I will ask the vet about it on our next visit.

Sloan..My Skipper (dog)has had 2 torn ACL's (knee ) with 3 surgeries.
She also has arthritis but is doing amazingly well right now.
Back during the winter I thought I was going to have to have her put to sleep
because she reinjured her knee and could not even get up for days . The vet has done all he can for her legs. But she got better.
Right now she runs and you can tell she feels good.
About 9 years ago I saw her at the animal shelter and fell in love.. She was 6 weeks old and the shelter said she was adopted and the lady told me she already had a second runner up if the first fell through. I put my name down as 3rd. choice and called everyday to check. I even let the kids come see her, which is not logical since she had 2 other families that wanted her. Somehow I just knew she was meant to be ours. That next week they called us and told us she was ours.

Sorry , I just needed to tell about what a great dog she is.

Rhonda...They have 2 vanillas.. French & Ice Creme.
I got the Ice Creme and it is great..Sorta like an instant breakfast taste.
I will get some Chocolate next week.

Rhonda, congratulations on doing an outstanding job staying op. We will be waiting for photos of you in your new smaller outfit that you'll be wearing to the wedding. Do you have it yet or are you waiting?

Nancy, I like the idea of a weekly topic of discussion.

Maryann, we were going to a movie today but I decided I'd rather rent DVD's. The movies out here now are ones I'd rather see at home. I'm spoiled to using subtitles, and pause and play. Every now and then there comes one that's a must for the big screen. (IMHO) Avatar was one of them.

I just got home from renting movies and buying groceries. Other than that--I'm OP. Yep, life is good.

I went to see Todd who fussed at me a bit to remind me that I NEED carbs. I guess I'd better pay more attention. But, if i eat one "normal" meal a day I should get enough. I ate some pretzels  We were also supposed to exercise legs today, but I told him my knees felt like they were 20 years older than the rest of me. He said he was sure the weather (barometric pressure) had made them swell, so we did more upper body work. i've never felt like the weather affected my body, but maybe so.

Nancy, I had two dogs in Toronto that, when they died, we were just so unbelievably sad. We still talk about them, and when something goes wrong around the house we say "Jake did it." They were both shelter dogs. So is Kyra, the husky we have now. She belonged to DH's daughter who said that Kyra was so bad off they weren't even sure what bred she was when she was found.

Well, I guess the topic is dogs, so I will tell you about Pippi. We are still having to watch her like a hawk because she goes potty in the house. I am planning on training her to use a bell to tell us that she wants to go out. I started working with her yesterday, and she was afraid of the bells. The are large "jingle bells", so I had to take the little ball out of one of them to get her to come near them. She was so funny! We worked several times yesterday, and today she is a pro at "touch". She is touching the bell with her nose to get a treat. The next step is to hang the bells on the door and train her to touch them there. Finally, we will train her to make the bells ring so we will open the door. I'll keep you posted on our progress.

I went to breakfast and then lunch with my mom, sis, niece, DD, and my cousin from California. We had a great time together, and I stayed OP! I think I am going to wait to weigh until Monday or I might make myself crazy with the scale.

Vickie, I loved your long post. In fact, I always love your long posts.

Sandra, congrats on staying OP! Watching movies at home is better 'cause you can pop your own popcorn!

We spent over an hour on the back deck watching hummingbirds, cardinals, and doves this evening as it's surprisingly cool for a Texas' July. My beds look glorious now that they are grassfree. I am so thankful Curtis hired some help. I had told him I wanted to keep them clean and such myself, but they got away from me.

I'm OP.

Sandra.. That sounds so nice to sit & watch your birds.
I am still trying to get humming birds to my feeder.
The squirrels are a problem also .. Doesn't it feel good to be ahead
of the weeds.. I feel that way right now also..Its rare at our place.

Sloan..I really like the bell idea..That sounds like a good way to train Pippi.

Vickie..enjoyed hearing about your dad..He sounds like he was so loving..
Funny you mentioned about the answering machine tape. I just found one I had saved with my dads voice. Its on one of those tiny cassettes , so I need to figure out how to play & save that. Keep us posted about Jim's heel . It is good that you got it taken care of.

Rhonda..good that Todd is giving you good guidance.. Shelter/rescued dogs always seem to know that you saved them don't they...

Maryann ..will we ever get our scales working right ???
Your plants sound like they are doing great.. I just have to water when I remember it but I do wonder when the best time is. I planted peppers that did great last year but I forgot to plant any this year.

Yes, Todd is a good trainer and a sweet young man. I gave him gift certificate to get a massage from my therapist, and her saw her today. He was so grateful and couldn't compliment her technique enough.

Vickie, Nancy, I have a tape of my mother playing the piano and one of my late husband reading his diary. They're precious things to have but I realize that I don't listen to them much now. I might have to do that. My father, mother and husband all died in July so this would be a good time.

I've been sitting on my screened in back porch making a list of 100 things I like. I think I'll put this chat board on the list. It's a beautiful night: stormy and cool.

Sloan, good luck with those bells!

Good night all...

Good Morning Ladies:)

Heat hasn't broken like they expected, but we're still going out to the Peanutbutter Club and have our lunch there. Can't believe that my tomatoes & peppers are hanging in there my basil is withering. in this heat.

Sorry I was MIA yesterday but I just was feeling well with this hot:hot: weather My shoulder was hurting again and it hard to type.

RHONDA-Congrats o your 2.5 weight loss. Your doing fantastic on your little challenge you gals are into. I do believe in challenges and I'm on a few on different weight loss boards. Some how they keep you accountable.

VICKIE-Thanks a beautiful story about your dad thanks for sharing. My shoulder pain goes across my back also, but mainly on the left side. I haven't heard from the doctor yet what wrong, but hes in surgery today.[replacing knees & hips]I have a follow up on the 20th but meanwhile he gave me some pills to take the pain away until I see him again. Thanks for the congrats on my 3lb loss,BUT I'M NOT ON ANY DIET[DON'T BELIEVE IN THEM] I JUST EAT HEALTHY WITH PORTION CONTROL PLATES.ALONG WITH WATCHING MY BREAD & GRAIN CARBS. I just post here on the core as I like posting to your wonderful ladies.

SANDRA-We have a movie theater pub in our town where you can order a meal and see the movie. We like going to that theater, rather than a DVD at home, but we;re all different with different taste. Hope you enjoyed your movie.

NANCY-Thanks for sharing your dog story. Ever since my DGS was jumping on the scale I hasn't worked right I will have to have a man come in an balance the beam,it was an expensive[$250] scale that we bought years ago.My father used to say that you should water the veggie plants after 6PM when the sun isn't the strongest as to avoid shocking the plant with cold water. Now I heard from a Paul Parent[expert gardener] saying that you should water them early in the morning before the sun comes up.His idea was water in the evening may stay wet and cause mildew on the plants where in the morning the sun can dry the water out. Hope that my explaining this makes sense.

SLOAN-Good luck at the doctor and have nice time at your choir practice.

Have to go,and get ready for today's plans

Maryann, I have gone to a movie pub, too, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is in Fort Worth. They are in the process of building one within 10 miles of us now. I may change my mind about DVD's when it gets completed. Curtis is hard of hearing and needs subtitles. That's the main reason I've been preferring DVD's. I enjoy movies, too.

Rhonda, thank you for putting us on your list. Makes me smile. That was sweet of you to give Todd the massage session. I'll bet that made his day.

Nancy, it's hard to stay ahead of weeds here, too. I think the birds are planting a lot of them.

Waving at Sloan and Vickie. We've been to town running errands and I've just finished doctoring/feeding the roses and have made lunch. I'm waiting on Curtis to come inside so we can eat. A neighbor is outside visiting with him. He's the one we bought the acreage from and I'm thinking they are planning a joint venture of some sort.

I'm OP.

It feels like grand central station around here..

Yard guy is knocking at the door to use the rest room.

2 guys are banging on the deck to fix a step that was never finished.

Son has 3 friends over ..

Grandson is watching a cartoon..

I have a headache...

Hubby isn't feeling well (light headed & stomach upset) I worry because of his past heart issue . Its probably just the heat.

Hey chicks, I'm still trying to get the right contacts, but I'm about to give up. I just can't find the right ones. I did have a nice time at choir practice and did not eat too much. The margaritas were two points each, so that's not bad.

Sandra, I read the book Lovely Bones, and you're right, it was weird. I don't particularly like vampire movies, but DD loves to read the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlain Harris, and she watches the HBO series based on the books, too.

Maryann, hope you feel better soon. I'm really sorry about your shoulder. Have you tried a chiropractor? I had a couple of years of trouble with mine, and when I started going to the chiropractor, she got my neck functioning better, so my shoulder responded and started to feel better, too.

Nancy, I hope you finally get some peace and quiet! How's Robin?

Hey Vickie and Rhonda!

Nancy, I hope it calmed down at home. And, Maryann, I'm sorry to hear that you're still hurting.

I had a massage this afternoon and I was so spaced out afterwards that I had to sit down and gather my wits about me. It was wonderful and I feel great.

I made up for lost time with the carbs today! I started with oatmeal, had 1/2 sandwich at lunch, and 1/2 cup of "dirty rice" at dinner. We plan to go to the Parker County Peach Festival tomorrow and I WILL eat peach cobbler or ice cream. I won't get back on the scales until Monday, if at all, ever again.

We had a real "frog strangler" here this evening. We've had T storms almost everyday, with flash floods. (Nothing like Nashville earlier, though.) The ground is soaked, and the birds are really unhappy.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Had a exciting day after I finished posting my friend Alice decided that we take a trip after we went to a movie about NE whaling ships to MV [Martha's Vineyard] around 1 PM and went from one end of the island to the other and didn't get home until 9 PM,but how exciting to just do things at the spare of the minute.

I'm a little tired now & feeling the weather. It rained a while ago but now it stopped. We're going out to some town thing [flea market] this afternoon if it doesn't rain or the temps cool down a little.

VICKIE-Thats ok, I stopped using diet plans ever since I stopped going to WW meeting, sure I used calorie counting and the CAD[low carb] methods but I was never on their plans.

SANDRA-When the first opened you had to buy some sort of drink or food but now they don;t care of you order anything or not. The just but the button on your table and if you want something you press the button for service. Love going there as it a very clean movie theater.

SLOANE-Thanks,I never believed in chiropractors,as I had a bad experience with the one in NY.The pain is not as much as it was several days ago,but in the evening when laying in bed I can't find a comfortable position and that's when I lose my sleep. I going to a orthopedic surgeon that I use for my other shoulder with rotary cuff tendinitis and sciatic nerve in my left leg. Going for a follow up on 20th.Hope I last that long.

RHONDA-Thanks,part of the pain I think has a lot to do with the high humidity we're having up here, but then again the pain is subsiding now so many not. I try to stay away from bad carbs, and not the good ones. I had a wonderful fish & chip dinner on MV where the fish was not completed breaded and the FF were of a small portion. They also had diced watermelon in a bed of lettuce which was very refreshing. Summer months are hard to get on the scale with all the humidity you get from water retention. Plus don't know if if was a blessing or not but my DGS[6yrs] jumped several times on my waist high physicians scale and now it its not working properly.

Have a great day and stay cool

Good Morning Chicks! Yesterday ended up being REALLY busy with house stuff and errands and the POOL! I got another 2 hours in yesterday. Based on the weather forecast, I'll be back in today AND tomorrow. I miss Jim in there though. I'm hoping he'll get the all clear on Tuesday morning. Last summer, I think we were only able to get into the pool about 4 times. I've already been in 4 times this year! I hope it helps me have a good loss this week. I don't run in there but I have been walking. My knee has been hurting me at night but I don't think it's from the pool. I think it's from being fat.

Rhonda, I still miss all my dogs. I actually had two before my Scotties. One was a schnauzer, named Cassie Casanova and the other was a beagle rescue named Spunky. Brodie is giving us SOOOO much joy. I still talk to Cassie though. I also wondered how you were having the strength to train without carbs. I'm glad to hear that you are listening to your body. I have carbs at every meal which I know is NOT necessarily a good thing. All I can say in my defense is that they are good carbs.

Sandra, you're life with Curtis sounds as happy as mine with Jim. I'm so proud of you that you have been on program so steadily. You are truly an inspiration.

Sloan, I'm glad Pippi is doing well. Good luck with the bell training. I was tempted to do that but we didn't. Brodie likes to be outside. He'd be ringing them all the time. He hates when I'm in the pool and he's inside. He can see me but can't get to me. Jim ends up being dragged to the poolside so Brodie can visit with Momma. Jim is a saint; no doubt about it.

Nancy, hope your headache is gone this morning. It must be a regional thing. Service technicians would NEVER ask to use the restroom here in the Midwest; especially not outside workers. I don't know why, but it just isn't done.

Mary Ann, hope you had fun at your Club.

I'm off to eat breakfast as I'm starving! I don't know what wrong with me this week but I am hungry all the time. Maybe it's all the pool exercise. Woo Hoo! Tonight is Jenny Craig Chicken Fajitas with fresh mushrooms added. Yum.

Good morning all;

Sloan, hadn't you heard "frog strangler" before? DH uses it all the time. I even saw it in Southern Living.

I recommend everyone go look at mini-goals under "71 pounds gone." It's mostly pictures, but what a difference in the woman's beginning and ending. She's lost it since October, and she's young, but wow.

We're off to celebrate peaches!

"Frog Strangler" means a heavy downpour of rain. We've been having it, too, but not as much as where Rhonda is. We're a little further south.

Curtis and I went to Barrerra's Mexican Restaurant today and I had chicken/beef fajita salad minus the shell. Delish! I'm making CORE spaghetti for dinner. Sounds like a heavy carb day, doesn't it?

Rhonda, enjoy those Parker County Peaches! They're hard to beat.

Maryann, your outing to MV sounds wonderful. I'm glad you enjoyed your day out.

Vickie, I'm glad you're getting to enjoy your pool. Sometimes I miss mine, but I had it another lifetime ago. Cute about Jim and Brodie coming out to watch. makes me smile.

Angela? Where are you, my friend? Are you all right?

Sloan, Nancy, and Rhonda, I'm anxious to hear more about your challenge.

I did some training earlier today at 60 and 50 meters. It started sprinkling so I came inside and will go back out later to fling a few at 40 and 30 meters.

I'm just about as NON-OP as you can get! I've had peach ice cream and a peach shake. No peach cobbler, but the day is young yet. The peach festival was HOT, the arrival back home was into more rain, and I don't know about the evening's event which is supposed to start in one hour, outside at someone's house, with cloudy skies above. I guess I'll take my umbrella. There is an option to move indoors, I guess.

We bought a 1/2 bushel of peaches, so my work is cut out for me over the next few days.

Fresh peaches sound wonderful.
We had such a fun family day with Robin, son and grandson fishing, eating Mexican tonight , going back to Catfish tonight and getting milkshakes at almost midnight. Just got in and everyone is headed to
bed. We were all in silly moods so everything was funny. I laughed til I cried while we were fishing at the jokes and at my 7 year old grandson trying to retell some of them . Sometimes our family can be way too serious so it was fun to see every one goofy & relaxed.
Robins right knee has been swollen and painful the last few days. He has
quit most of his pain meds which is a probably why they seem to hurt more.
Those pain meds are like a blessing & curse all wrapped into one but he is almost
off of all of them.

About my weight. I had worked weeks to get to 142 and then my weight jumped back to 145 almost over night. It is very frustrating.
Honestly I am right back to where I was before the challenge. I have been
eating 1- 300 calorie meal plus 2 shakes all week except Mexican tonight.
I will just keep at it and see what happens this week and try to start
exercising more.

We're up and readying to go to church. Afterwards we'll go out to lunch with friends then come home to train. A gf is coming to train with me.

Mornin' chicks, we are going to tackle some projects today. We had grilled tenderloin and low fat salad for dinner with my sis and fam. We also had margaritas. I know I sound like an alcoholic, but we do our partying in the summer and give it a rest after school starts. That said, I'm not going to weigh until tomorrow mornin', but I've been "op lite" for the last few days, so I'm not sure how the scale is going to be.

Nancy, I'm having the same issues. I lost 2 1/2 pounds. We went out for dinner, which was salty, and 3 pounds came on. At one point the scales said I went from 176 to 180 over 3 days. I don't believe it. It's water, period. I'm glad to hear that you had a good family visit.

DH, DS, and I also went and bought a new tv. Our flat screen tv blew up a few weeks ago, so we had to go shopping. Of course, my budget and DH's budget were different, and you know who's budget won out; the tv is huge!
