I live in Massachusetts, the second thinnest state. And yet I see overweight and obese people everywhere. Government subsidies which promote the consumption of cheap unhealthy food are slowly killing the population of this country.
I wish they'd break it out further than even by state. There's a big difference in regions within states. For instance, the average weight in Manhattan has just got to be lower than the average weight in the part of Upstate NY where I grew up, because I'm struck by heavy people are there when I make my occasional visit back to my old hometown. Even further, there are even differences in neighborhoods, and the South Bronx is heavier than the Upper East Side & Upper West Side.
