Time for a nice new thread. Slavika I feel so bad for your son and dil. Hope they find out who did it. Did anyone in the neighborhood see or hear anything? Feel bad for the kids. My neighbor was broken into a few years ago and that fingerprinting powder leaves such a mess and it is hard to clean. How nice of them to give you flowers. Maria hope that your dh gets home safely and that his job is secure, though not in India. Lily sorry to hear about your bil. Things are not looking too good right now. Do y'all think Martha is going to jail? Have to go work in the yard and get things cut back. We are going to get some rain and nasty weather from Lily tomorrow. Like Trudy I wish we were going into summer. It is nice to not have to be a chauffer anymore for my son. Getting ready for a big craft show in a few weeks.

Peggy - I watched a little of the morning news show this morning on CBS with Diane Sawyer. They have a regular thing with Martha Stewart and in the news they talked about things looking grim for her. That has to be tough--to go on a show and talk about towels and have everybody know you could go to jail. I too wish we were going into summer.
Slavika - we had a breakin about 15 years ago. The very worst part was thinking some stranger had been touching my things! But you can always replace things--just glad they were not there. The police work on our case was just a true joke. It was just the basis for insurance coverage.
Maria, keep enjoying your home!
Lily, one day closer to a vacation! YEA!

Hi Everybody
Maria soon your DH will be home, and I bet he will be happy to be there too. I hope all goes well with the company he works for.
Lily soon you will be going on your holiday. Are you and DH going by car? How's the job hunting going for him? I hope you guys have a wonderful time.:)
Jenye nice to "see" you again? What have you been up to lately? Did you say your son is moving out too? :?: Glenda congrats on getting those 15# off. I gained .2 of a lb this week and could not believe it when I worked so hard and "SEEMED" to me to eat like a bird. LOL   Peggy without giving away any of your secrets, :sssh: what are you making for the craft show? It's a good thing that your family does not require you to drive them around anymore. :)
Ann and Maria I never ate lamb as a child and one time years and years ago I bought a couple of lamb chops and "tried" cooking them and thought they smelled just terrible and never bought them again or ordered lamb when eating out. A couple of years ago in Maui when DH and I and our friends were BBQ along with a few other people this fellow was doing some lamb chops on the BBQ. He had shipped the meat to his condo while in Maui. He marinated the chops in something and when I told him I didn't like lamb he insisted I try some of his. It was really excellent, the way he had done it. :)
Nothing else is new, and I am very happy to say that. :cb:

The thing I have dreaded happened today. My Mom fell when we were going up the wheel chair ramp at Wendy's. It was kind of sloped and she didn't get her cane down properly and over she went, landing on the knee she had surgery on in Jan. Her head went forward and hit the cement too. She has a huge swelling (almost the size of 1/2 golf ball) on her forehead. Some gravel cut her head and there was some bleeding. Her knee is very swollen and sore to the touch. As luck has it, she had an appt for the doctor this afternoon. She needs an x-ray on the knee. Other than being very sore all over looks like no damage was done. We are so grateful that nothing was broken. The whole thing took 5 1/2 years off my life...
Slavika I am convinced that our WW leader made a big mistake in calculating your weight... next week you will have a big loss. :goodvibes
My thoughts on Martha are as follows: There are a lot of people who would like to see her downfall because she is so successful, and she is a woman who has done it all by herself. I sure hope she isn't guilty... I would like to see her come out of this unscathed, ...but who knows?
Another woman they pick on is Oprah. The tabloids love to show her when she has gained weight, no make-up, and wearing some grungy outfit. She was on the cover of one of those papers today, and she looks gorgeous, but the headline is "it took $250,000 to make her look like that." :headache:
..... Yikes :yikes: I'm ticked today :D
Going out to play cards tonight.... :grouphug: talk to you all tomorrow...bye bye.

Trudy, I had a day like that the other day where everything sort of ticked me off. I do so agree with you about Oprah. She does so much good and being a woman, a rich woman, she becomes a target. If I had the money, I would do everything to get myself to look "good." I am so darned sorry about your mom. I know your heart went to your mouth because she is so independent. But I am glad it doesn't look like that much damage happened.
Slavika - sometimes weekly weigh-ins just aren't really accurate. Next week you will have a big loss.

Slavika: Im with you on the lamb. I cant cook it either and didnt like the smell. You really do have to cook it right. Cuz like you I have tasted it since and I do like it. Just not with me cooking it :)
.2 is nothing. I think she made a mistake to!
Peggy: what are you making? We wont tell!
Trudy: Oh dear. Your poor Mom! Glad she is going to be ok. Im sure you were worried about her. DO worry about that Knee tho. As she did just have Surgery on it. Keep us posted as to how she is doing.
I agree on Oparh. They always seem to print stuff when she gains weight, but hardly anything when she has lost it. Shame Shame...
We are heading out tomorrow by car. Gonna drive up the coast and most likely will go into Victoria Canada and who knows where else. Love Victoria and havent seen it all. But would also like to go up further. Love the boat trip over there to! Hope to see some Whales :)
Have a great 2 weeks all. "See" you we we get back! :cb: :cloud9:

Slavika, What an awful thing to have happen to the kids while they were gone. But It really is good they were gone. Wouldn't like to think what might have happened. We had a break in years ago about 25. DH was sick so I was asleep on the sofa. Being deaf I never heard the guy come in. DH woke up and saw someone getting ready to take the TV from the Bedroom. He said at first he wasn't sure what he was seeing and then when he woke up fully he jumped out of bed a chased the guy through the house and out the back door. The guy , on the way out grabbed my hand bag. We never did fine the guy. But the joke was on him. I was broke had a total of 35cents in my wallet and no money in my checking account. The next morning we found my handbag with the handle neatly wraped around it laying just out side the kitchen window. I guess he felt sorry for us poor people, because the 35 cents was still there. Even so I spent many nights alone in that house armed with a baseball bat. It was months before I could sleep at night. Used to sit up all night and stand guard so to speak. Then once I came home here an scared away some one who was trying to break in through the back door. Scary! Sorry about your .2 gain. Just so you know I might make that mistake too.
Maria how goes the wedding plans. Don't let the strees get to you. Have you bought a dress yet ??
Peggy tell us what are you working on now. Do you still do those product testing things?
Trudy sorry about your mom. I would have been so scared for her. Is she on the mend now?
Hello Ashe hope all is well for you.
Glenda. You live in O.K. right? We lived in Lawton for about a year some 20 years ago. Can't believe it's been that long.
The weather here has turned cold. The weatherman said tonight we may get snow? I think he is nuts. Way too early for snow.
I thought my life was going to slow down but should have known better. One of a our leaders needs surgery Oct 22 so I said I would do her meetings until she back on her feet. So I'll be on the road again four days a week for a while. You can bet my fanny will be dragging by Friday.
If you check in again Lily have a nice trip.

SNOW!!! No no it is too early. Hope it is just not so. Lily have a nice trip. It sounds so wonderful. Wish I was going somewhere. Well tomorrow we are going up the road to an Octoberfest in Urbana. Hope I get inspired. I don't feel very imaginative this year. I have been trying to use up what I have. I made a couple of witches. Their heads are made out of gourds and I used the stem for their noses. I painted the face and made clothes and used some old brooms for them to hold. They are truly witchey women. I just found another gourd the right size so I think I have the makings for another one. I have a pile of old roof slate that I have been painting fall and Christmas things on. And I have the old standby - seasonal buckets made out of #10 cans. I spray them and paint gingerbread or snowmen or pumpkins or something on them then drill holes and put wire on for handles. I wrap the wire with fabric. They turn out cute and it amazes me how they sell. If it is sitting around it gets glued onto something. We are making baby snowmen to go with the big ones. I use old kid shoes and little shirts and sweaters. They are cute. If I get some pictures I'll post them. Trudy how scary for you and your mom. I am glad that she is not seriously hurt. When you think what could have happened... Glenda I meant to tell you congratulations on losing 15 lbs. You are doing so good. How is your job going? Jenye is nice to see you posting. All your experiences with breakins is scary. Karen you are so lucky that you weren't hurt. I always close my curtains at night. When my dh first got on the fire dept I was reading Helter Skelter. Not a book to read when you are alone at night. I imagined all kinds of things. Gotta run the dog is barking like crazy over something.
Ted and I are going away for a week looking at properties up in the Central and North Central Victoria so I will speak to you all when I return.
Take care all.
Jenye.

Hi Everybody
We have a sunny bright day today, always makes me feel good.
The police phoned on Saturday morning that our son's/dil van was located in a no parking zone and towed to a compound. The officer that called did not have any information as to the condition of the van. After it has been finger printed then our son can pick it up and deal with the auto insurance company if there is any damage. I hope they didn't cause any damage.
Jenye is it a "holiday" type property that you are going to look at? Have a nice car trip. :)
Karen hummmmm a kind crook, seems funny to even have the words "kind and crook" in the same sentence, LOL :D Gosh so many people have had their homes broken into...I just thank my lucky stars that ours has never been. YIKES....I am almost scared to say it.
I am having my family over for pot roast and I made an angel food cake for dessert. It's an easy meal, so I have fiished with my duties. :) I guess Lily is on her holidays now.....I hope she has a great time. :)

Hi every one
Weigh-in left me up .4. Got to be better next week. I swear all I have to do is look at food and I gain. My pity party.:dizzy:
Slavika: How good the van was found. Hope it is in good condition. Wouldn't it be nice if some of the other stolen items could be found as well.
Trudy: Sorry about your Moms' accident. But so glad it wasn't more serious. With age and osteoporosis and all that stuff, it is good that nothing was broken. Will she be with you while she gets healed up?
Peggy: All your crafts sound very intrigueing. We're having a Fall Festival with $5 tables for crafts. You are invited to come down and show your wares.:D :joker:
Karen: You are going to be really busy. Don't get too tired out.But I know all those W.W folks need to have a good inspirational leader.
Now gals, I challenge you to try lamb again. Went out to eat, this noon, and I had wonderful roast lamb. When I roast a leg of lamb I trim off as much of the fat as I can. don't need that. Then
I use lots of garlic and lemon. Cut little slits in the meat and stuff the garlic in them. Plenty of salt and pepper and a little Rosemary. MMMM! When I do chops I do them on our George Forman grill. I brush them with Kitchen Bouquet and lots of garlic powder. And of course you must have mint jelly.:ink: :chef:
Maria: Hope you have had a lovely reunion. I'm sure it was much nicer than if I had found the air fare and interrupted you.
Lily and Jenye are traveling. We'll miss them , but glad to know they'll get back to us with tales of their travels.
Have to have a blood test tomorrow so no breakfast for me. The Dr. is trying to figure out why my bood count is low. Hope he finds the answer.
Time to think about some sleep. Good night:yawn:  Ann

G'day all,
What a great lot of posts to read:)
Life has been pretty hectic at this end of the world but we are settling down and enjoying being home.
DH made it safely home despite the fact he had to try out his Dream machine and took it up to over 200 km , he said it still had plenty but thought 200km was enough! Glad I wasn't with him.
The lamb roast was beautiful, you girls who have never had roast lamb you don't know what you are missing!
Ann sorry you couldn't quite get the air ticket, it would have been fun!
I have just about done all the invites for the wedding. I think I may wear the same outfit as I did to dd's wedding. I have also been thinking about making up the silk dh bought back from India last year. I will see how I go, still lots happening with dh's work. I won't pre empt anything but as soon as something is definite you will all be the first to know.
The dream machine is just that a dream to drive. Love just taking off at the lights and leaving the rest of the pack wondering! I know very juvenile but fun:cb:
We went for a drive on Sunday. After Sydney it is just lovely, very little traffic, beautiful country side, one can get with ease from A to B. We called in to see friends about 80 km out of Adelaide. They are in the process of building their retirement home right on the beach, he has talked of it for years and we often wondered if it would happen. It is just fantastic to step out your front door onto the beach. It was rather cold and stormy and I did think the waves were getting a bit too close for my liking. He reckons with global warming he should be able to just throw out a fishing line from his verandah, ideal for when he is old and dothery!
I can hear visitors at the door so I must be off
Stay well and happy
Cheers
Maria

Maybe we should try some lamb Slavika :sheep: Have you ever seen a roast of lamb in the stores? We will have to check it out, looks like there is something tasty out there we don't know about. :chin: We can't let that happen.
Maria the dream machine sounds like a lot of fun. Racing about with your hair blowing in the breeze, blue sky, sun shining.. aahh .. wish I were there too. It is cold and rainy here today :(
Ann My Mom is bruised but not broken. She had an x-ray and no damage was done to the replacement knee, so she will get better. She looks after herself, I just take her shopping and do her laundry. Thanks for asking. :)
Peggy By the looks of things, you don't throw anything out, but have a use for it in a craft. I would just love to see the things you make. I thought of you the other day while I was going through Sears, they have a lot of Christmas decorations out and they had little people statues.. so cute.
Karen I sure hope I don't find someone wandering around in my house when I wake up. That is scarey. We had a break in 5 yrs ago. It was in July and the neighbors on 3 sides of us were outside bbq .. we went out for a light supper around 5:00 and were gone about 45 min. They kicked the door in, took everything of value and no one heard or saw a thing. Talk about being sneaky :s:
I saw my Doctor today and she put me on Fosamax for Osteoporosis. I will take 1 tablet, 70mg once a week.... is anyone else on it? I am concerned about the digestive problems associated with it. ... it's always something.
:grouphug: bye all....

G'day all
Trudy & Slavika when you go looking for a lamb roast, I generally get a leg of lamb and roast it for 30 mins for every pound. I usually get a few sprigs of rosemary and put them in slits in the leg. Ann was quite right that many people also serve it with mint jelly or sauce but that is something that doesn't really appeal to me and I have never done.
Some years ago when I was visiting relatives in Holland I promised to do a roast leg of lamb. It took me quite some time to find a butcher who would supply it and then when he did it was very expensive:eek:
Good to hear no major damage was done with your mother's fall.
Whilst I am home I hope to have a bone density test (been meaning to do it for some time) but I hope there is no need for me to take any medication. I agree its is all very well to do try and overcome certain problems but then so often the cure messes up something else:(
After ds cavorting ;) on our bed the last 2 years or so, yesterday we stripped the bed, chucked out the electric blanket, turned the matress and I went out and bought this beautiful lambswool matress cover. DH asked how much and I told him that it was on special and I had saved $94.00 :D :s: He never asked what I actually paid! We had the best sleep last night, the underlay was just beautiful, lovely crisp clean ironed sheets:cloud9:
Simple things are still the best!
More washing and ironing to be done, see ya all later
Cheers

Trudy sure glad your mom is doing good. No real damage done to her new knee.
Maria sounds as if you are enjoying you home. Telling DH about the saving was a good trick. When mine asks I tell him You Don't Want To Know!!
Lamb is not something I've ever eaten. Used to fix the lamb chops for Dh years ago. He never asked for it now. Wonder if it was my cooking that turned him off.
The two meetings today were busy. It's the last week of Free enrollment so, I'm sure we will be busy all week. We are talking about defining moments this week you know those things that happen to make you realize yes you are losing weight . One lady told about helping her husband paint the house this summer and when she raised her arm her BOOB fell out of her bra cup. Now that is going to something she will always remember. It was a great story. How about you ladies anything really stick out in your mind about your weight loss journey?

I have been to goal many times. This incident happened to me "2 goal times ago" I always wore the same outfit to weigh in, then it was a pair of cotton beige slacks and a cotton shirt. The pants had a metal clip closure that broke off. I didn't want to change to another outfit for the WI so I sewed velcro on to close up the waist band. I walked to the meetings - about 1 1/2 miles from my house and on the way home I would stop at the Safeway store and pick up a couple of items. Well this particular day I had made my usual Safeway stop, had two bags full, one in each hand and I was marching across the crowded parking lot. I ran into my Pastor who had stopped at Safeway. As I approached him, something felt weird and I looked down to see my slacks had come undone and fell around my ankles. The velcro had come open. He held my groceries while I pulled up my slacks. It was a good thing I wore a light jacket too. Now these slacks were very tight on me at the 1st WI and at goal they just dropped to the ground. I never wore them again. :o Pastor and I laughed about it many times, and he promised never to use the story in one of his sermons.

Trudy - who can top that one? Not I. I have been to goal many, many times also. The first time was the most eye-opening. That was when I realized I could be small. I bought an outfit, a size 7, I remember well. The clerk looked at me and sighed, "Well, when you are that small, everything looks good."It was one of those "Are you talking to me?" moments. Yes, and Trudy, I have taken Fosamax for years. At first the once-a-day thing, but now just once a week, much better. Have followed directions and had no digestive problems, but once . I got the pill stuck in my throat and couldn't get it down and had a sore throat for a week. Must be strong stuff. It has made my bones better--remember I cannot take HRT at all because of cancer.

laughing at Trudy and Karen's stories. Both are too funny. And Maria you sound like a kid again beating people at lights. Glad you are enjoying your new toy. Like your story about the "savings". Never thought to do that. Now you have the "perfect Martha" bed. If I am ever your way you will have to fix me some lamb. I am one of those who doesn't like it but would be willing to try it again. Glenda are you working hard? Have to go and rescue the dog. He thinks he has a chipmunk trapped in a pipe and it is pushing it all over the yard. I looked and it was gone but he doesn't know it. He is not too bright.

Hi: Loved the defining moments stories. And I am happy to know that being at goal has been an up and down thing with some of you, too. Be brave and try some lamb. I think the mint jelly is just the finishing touch.
Trudy: I refused to take the Fosamax, because of my digestive problems. So I use Miacalcin, a nasal spray, and also take Evista. I don't have HRT any more either. I have been doing this for two years now and in March will have another bone density test to see if there is improvement again. this will be my 3rd BD test.If you should have difficulty, this might work for you. I just refuse to put anything in my stomach that could even remotely cause difficulty. After my hospital stay from the Vioxx. I know it works great for some people, but it's not for me.
I think my defineing moment was when I finally realized I didn't have to look for clothes in the Plus department anymore. I don't have any funny ones to share. Nothing has fallen out or off.
Maria: Sounds like the new 'toy' is great fun. Your nice fresh bed sounds good to me also. I love the smell of freshly dried sheets, especially when they can be line dried outside.
I volunteer at the church office one afternoon a week, and today I stapled 450 items. Put 3 pages together, 450 times. I am now suffering from stapleitis.
I'd like to see the Greek Wedding again, and then look for the real people. I just thought that it was fiction based on the general idea of the Greek family, or any large ethnic family, for that matter.
Hi everyone. Have a good evening. Ann

G'day all,
Firstly, Trudy's little experience  I cannot top either:D My weight loss stories are all a bit boring
I am quite amazed that so few of you (if any) eat lamb. What sort of meat do you eat, just beef???????
We eat lamb, beef, veal, pork, kangeroo and then of course chicken, turkey fish etc.
I have of course heard of Martha Stewart but don't know that much about her but if I now have a Martha Stewart bed according to Peggy , I like the lady:D
It is a beautiful crisp sunny day here, dh and I went for a walk along the beach this morning, it was lovely. A few brave souls were even swimming, I wasn't tempted!
Still working on the invites and nephew wants a few changes to his web page so I better go and attend to that.
Cheers
