I am in!

July 1 - 192
2 - 192
6 - 196 Back from traveling over the weekend. I am assuming that the extra weight is temporary but I am a little worried as I did eat a little over on my calories. I didn't think it was enough to gain weight but time will tell.
7 - 195
8 - 195 - This may be real weight. :(
9 - 195 I am giving this until Monday. If my weight does not go down, I will adjust my ticker. :(
11- 194
12 - 193
13 - 193
14 - 193 I am going to up my ticker that pound. One weekend has caused me to lose 2 weeks. Note to self - It is not worth it.
15 - 193
16 - 193
17 - 191 - Whoo Hoo I won't count this until I see it a couple more times but I am pleased.
18 - 191
19 - 190 - I guess the 191 was accurate so I am claiming the 191. Now if I can see 190 for a couple of more days I will be a very happy camper.
20 - 191
21 - 191
22 - 192
23 - 192
26 - 192 Looks like I really have gained a pound. :( My goal is to get it off in one week.
31 - 192 :(

July goal - get into the 2teens!

(since I work the graveyard shift at least 3 nights a week I mark whether I've weighed in the morning or evening. My morning weights after a good night's sleep are what I'd prefer but morning's after I've worked and just had breakfast with the kids are a bad idea so evenings after my afternoon nap are as good as I can get on those days...)

I just need a place to track my weight fluctuations and see how my body responds to different calorie intakes, and exercises. I want to lose more weight, but I'm not setting a goal so much as becoming a silent observer. The dates that are bolded & underlined indicate my official weigh-ins. These are the days that I will update my ticker to reflect my loss.

Wow busy place!! I haven't ever set goals for these - but this time I'm hoping to NOT gain on my 2 week beach vacation! :)

June loss: 11.7 pounds :) Big number for me, I haven't been this consistent... ever actually. Dropped a pant size, and am feeling pretty good about things :) Hope to continue this momentum into July!

Glad to see the familiar faces (my 3FC's family!) and some new ones! Good luck everyone on your goals!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the new month! Let's make it a good one!

Last night we had some Oriental food. The water weight makes me nuts from the sodium. This morning I weighed the same. I did put a splash of Cranberry in my water last night. Maybe that helped? :?: Maybe it's going to jump on me in the morning, LOL.

Calories for yesterday: 1675

Weigh In: 214.8

Stayed the same, no scale change.

229.0 this morning so I'm feeling like I really am in the 220's now!

I'm looking forward to another month of daily weigh-ins even though the days I have to weigh in in the evenings (cuz of work) make me a bit crazy. But learning to accept that evening weigh-ins are okay is just part of my journey I guess.

I've been jealous of all the swimming MissKely gets in. Since my ill fitting suit was 50 pounds ago I ordered one from Land's End and if we ever get summer time here I'm going to try to fit some swimming in to my week. (I have a 15% off coupon for Land's End for this month I'm not going to use if anyone wants it!)

I hope we all have a very successful month!

I'm such a dork, I never went and updated my original post, and everyone else is! I actually put it on my calendar in the bedroom that I have specifically for this and tracking exercise. I also made a goal for last month - 18 pounds

Diana - last time you had oriental food you didn't see much of a gain either! Maybe the sodium isn't bothering you as much? Or if it is, maybe you just dropped that much! I see a trend!

penguin - yahoo! :D

Mary - darn tom, I think I am repeating myself, but thats something I feel I could repeat quite often! You'll definitely get to see those numbers next week :)

Vlada - Congrats on the 220's! When you work weird shifts you gotta fit the weigh in where you can, I'm more impressed you've found time! When I worked odd times I used it as an excuse NOT to weigh in, or even diet!

I will bbl to weigh in - for some reason the road workers are working on Canada Day, they are sawing into the newly made pavement (to allow for frost). But it's too early and I was up WAY too late last night. Hopefully they are almost done and can let me sleeeeeep :) Today is my last day off before vacation - we leave next Friday!

Aimee - Awesome loss for June! I bet you rock July. :)

Diana - We're on the same page today. I had some buffalo grilled chicken last night and was expecting a bump up today, but so far so good. But now I'm worried what tomorrow will bring, of course. Sneaky salt.

Mary - That is exactly why I weigh daily...seeing the daily fluxuations help me stay sane when I'm having an up day - because I know it won't last. Don't worry, you're going to have an awesome week!

Vlada - Yay for the 220's!!

Up .2 to 238.6....still undoing that hot mess in my body from Tue night. Im amazed how much it really affected my body.

Aimee: You're rockin'!! I was looking back in the May thread yesterday just mesmerized at how far we've all come. I was confused if the thread had altered too with GW...I actually paused about 20 secs before I typed yesterday not knowing what was up.

Vlad: WTG! You're really IN the 20's now!! Im jealous of that!! :p Congrats on your new suit you ordered! I have a swim buddy now...yay!!!

Penguin: Wow! WTG!!

Congrats on all losses!

I'm up .6 from yesterday to 213.6. I'm cool with that, since yesterday's weight was a whoosh - I'm still down .6 from two days ago. Plus, my arms and shoulders are really sore from yesterday's work out, so i bet I'm retaining a bit of water. Asider from all that, I also had a cruddy night's sleep and weighed in about an hour/hour and a half earlier than I usually do when I finally decided to get up. Overall, it's a decent scale day.

Staring for June 266.6, ending 259.6.

But I have been OP for the past few days and am creeping back up again. I am going to maintain this summer, due to money, and start back up in Sept. We are getting royally screwed right now. We have my step son for the summer and my DH is still paying support to his ex GF, who is supposed to western union the money back. Well we are still waiting, a week later. Right now we are dipping into our rent money to feed all of us. So we don't really have the money for my extras. I am going to try to keep doing my aerobics though, beings that it is free. So...

-.2 this morning. TOM is still here, and I'm very sick with an upper respiratory thing that has me sneezing/blowing my nose/coughing/etc. almost constantly. TMI, but I'd think the loss of all this snot would have accounted for more than a .2 loss! One good thing did come from the cold though, it hurt to smoke two days ago so I suffered through a day and a half without having one and just decided to run with it and actually quit-quit for good! I've been wanting to for a while but you know, excuses excuses! So, here I am. Day three of my cold, day three of no smoking, day three of TOM and still down .2! Maybe it's not so bad after all!

Looks like just about everyone had a loss yesterday or a small gain. Yay US. We're on OUR way.

love- thank you! I quit a few years back after smoking for 10+ years and got pregnant almost immediately. For some unknown and ridiculous reason I started again when my son was 1.5 and have been smoking ever since. I wish I wouldn't have picked that first one back up. Now, I'm worried I will fall pregnant again before I want to (at least -oh what's my ticker say?- 80 more lbs. haha) but I'm glad it was easy this time around. It's sooooooo hard to quit!

day three of no smoking, day three of TOM and still down .2! Maybe it's not so bad after all! Congratulations! I've been smoke free for 4 1/2 years. It's tough at first, but so very worth it!

Well we are still waiting, a week later. Right now we are dipping into our rent money to feed all of us. I'm so sorry! That is grossly unfair.

My weight has been the same for 3 days now. I'm ready for a whoosh or at least a little loss, please.

My brother and his family are here for a 6 week stay. This is where I messed up last year and gained back 35 years. I must be very careful! So far, I've done well today. But, everyone wants to go to dinner. I'm trying to narrow them down to a restaurant selection so I can plan ahead. Keep your fingers crossed.

That's what it was like for me, with smoking and trying to diet. I would get pregnant. It's something about cleansing the body I guess. It is really hard to quit. I'm 44 and our youngest of 5 children is 6 years old so I definitely don't want to have anymore. I found that since I didn't have any cigarettes when I decided to quit then I needed to stay away from people that smoked until I got totally over it. My Mom smokes but her cigarettes were so strong I didn't want hers. :D good for me. I keep trying to get her to quit. I keep telling her she'd feel so much better and food would taste better also.

Hi Everyone! The weekend is here! It's going to be a long weekend for us. We are going to be closed on Monday to observe the 4th of July. I hope everyone has fun but stays safe.

The scale is up this morning. It's either part of TTOM or the sodium from the food the other night.

Calories for the day: 1625

Weigh In: 215.2

Up: .4

07-02-2010, 08:30 AM
I am so upset. This is why I didn't want to weigh daily - because I can't handle it. I am up 2.8 pounds from yesterday!!!! WTH!!! My calories yesterday were only 1423. I am mid TOM - could this all be water? This could have happened last month without me knowing because I wasn't weighing daily. I don't even feel bloated today. In fact I have been feeling pretty darn good with the way my clothes have been fitting and now almost 3 pounds overnight?? I want to cry.

Diana - enjoy your long weekend! We had our holiday yesterday, it was HOT HOT HOT, 29 but with the humidity it felt like 40! TOM already? That means mine isn't far behind!

Mary - weighing daily isn't for everything, and especially with TOM - where I can see fluctuations of up to 10 pounds! I wouldn't take the TOM weight seriously, maybe not weighing during TOM at all would help? I don't necessarily weigh daily during TOM.

As for me? No scale for me this morning! I slept maybe 4 hours last night, I am exhausted this morning, again.. still.. always? I also had subway for dinner last night, first fast food in a few months, I'm sure they scale won't like that!

Aimee Maybe not. My hormones have been out of whack since losing weight. I wish my body will hurry and regulate itself. My TTOM has been coming about a week to week and a half early. I hope you can get some sleep.

Ghhaa!

Don't remind me of TOM. Mine starts next week, and I am dreading it. I swear I gain 4 pounds in water weight, and so I don't end up losing anything for the entire week.

Diana3271 My hormones have done the opposite. I have been more regular while losing weight than I have ever been. Usually my period are all over the place, but as of the last three month I have been very regular.

Good morning, Friends! Lot's of work to do today before a nice long weekend. I'm telling myself that I won't do any work this weekend, but I may be tempted. I have some big projects going on. I telecommute from home so it's really easy to get sucked in.

I'm down .6 today! I need to be very careful. My family is visiting for the next six weeks and there is a lot of junk in the kitchen. I'm strong...yes, I am! :D (Oh God, help me!)

You can do it. Just keep doing what you have been doing all along. (I know it's easier said than done. ;) :D)

Whoa, busy morning here so far! And here I thought I was going to be an early bird. :)

Salt got me over night. Up 1.4 pounds today. Eh, I'm not worried. I drank over 100 oz. of water yesterday and only peed three times, so I know exactly what that "weight" is.

Here's to many, many bathroom breaks today!

I went out to the pool a couple nights ago cause I was fed up & swam when it was drizzling out...but only got 25 laps in because the rain got harder & stated stinging my eyeballs & got out. =\

Wow, I disappear for the holiday and there's 6 pages of mucho activity.

Congrats on all the losses, boo to all the TOM gains, and *sigh* for my lack of scale... I'm buying a new one today, I swear!!!

My office is a ghost town today because many folks decided to take the Friday off as well and give themselves a 4 day long weekend, which was my plan as well, but I got dragged into a situation requiring my attention and had to wake up. Boo!

Aimee: How was your holiday? We went to Niagara Falls and ate crap all day long, including the Fudge Factory, mmmmmm.... So bad...

Rox Yay for not smoking. I wish I could do it to. I've quit twice before for about 8 months at a time, still don't know why I started again, and now, I want to, but hubby smokes alllll the time, and it's so hard when he's smoking! Boo. Not sure what to do about it just yet.

FitGirlyGirl
07-02-2010, 11:26 AM
Mary - I have gone up way more than that during TOM before. You can bet that's all it is. Maybe you should stay away from the scale during TOM.

Ubercast - I don't want to dampen your spirits about it, but I do want to warn you. Before I started losing my TOM was crazy too - I have PCOS. When I started losing, it gradually got normal and regular and I was have a 28 day cycle, I don't think I had ever done THAT in my life. Lately though, I'm noticing the same thing as Diana - it comes earlier than it should. It started with a day or two, this last one was a full week early. I hope that doesn't happen to you, but I don't want you to be too surprised if it does.

Today I am down .8 to 166.4. That is .4 lower than I have ever been (and that was only one day), so I am hoping this crazy bouncy stall I have been in is finally done. Less than 2 weeks and I'm off to Florida and I was hoping to be much lower than this by then. That's ok though, I'm visiting family and they love me no matter what size I am, plus I'm still down a lot since the last time any of them saw me and one of my brothers hasn't seen me since before I lost any of it.

Eliana
07-02-2010, 12:17 PM
Speaking of TOM, I have finally figured out my own pattern. I don't really gain weight during it, but I do stop losing and it doesn't pick up again for a couple weeks. I pretty much lose for two weeks and stay stable for two weeks out of every month. I noticed looking at my loss in the year long challenge that I am always in the same decade across two months. I'm hoping to break that this time!! If I can get out of the 170's by August 1st, I will have only been in them across one month. :D

FitGirlyGirl- Thanks for the warning. crazy period times actually run in my family. My mom, and grandma were never very regular, and until recently I wasn't either. I seriously hope mine doesn't start coming early. My TOM gets really bad, and I usually end up in a fetal position on the couch for most of the day XD.

roxmysox- Good luck on quitting! I tried last year and only made it 4 days. I was under the impression that after 3 days it wouldn't be so bad and the 4th day was the worst and I just gave in. I'm still kicking myself in the butt for that, Now I'll have to go through them all again. Our cigarette taxes in Utah just got raised a lot and now not only is it horrible for me, I can barely afford it.

I weighed in today at 236.6. Either that's a whoosh or it's all coming back to me soon. That's almost 4 lbs since Wednesday!

Wow! Thanks for all the sweet words about my quitting. I've been wanting to for months (smoke menthols and can hardly breath sometimes! I'm only 28!!!!) not only for myself, but because of my son. I know I started because my mom was/is a smoker and I don't want him to follow in my footsteps where that is concerned! I already tried to hide it from him, but come on- he's almost 4! He's not stupid, kwim?

I already had it in my mind that I wanted to stop and was planning to buy some patches as soon as I had the extra money to do so. I just got this nasty cold first and ran with it. You all can quit too! The first time I went completely cold turkey after 10+ years of my pack-a-day habit (started smoking when I was 12, yes really!) and it was sooooo hard the first few days, but I did it. And I looooooooooved not smoking. It was so nice not to be a slave to the cigarettes anymore. You don't realize how much you obsess over them until you stop smoking! Just look at it the same as your diet. Just because you slip up doesn't mean you throw the whole thing away! One cigarette doesn't mean you're smoking again!

Oh, and the best advice I've ever heard is to quit in the middle of the afternoon. Go to bed early that night and by the time you wake up, you're almost done with your first (and hardest!) 24 hours!

Good job on the losses, ladies! I'm back to 249.0 this morning. TOM is still here, but should be gone soon. DH is coming back (some of you may remember he's been "out of town" for 8 weeks already) late this month and I'd really, really love to see his jaw drop when he sees me again. Gotta kick it up a notch this month!

Well, I'm at 229.4, up .4 but since this is an afteronn weighing I am not minding it too much.

I checked in to the health clubs around work to see what the evening hours were. I figured maybe I could find one were I could swim a half hour before work three nights a week. I used to do this years ago and loved it. That was when I went in to work at 11pm and now it's 9pm. But with their current schedules I'd only be able to swim one night a week. I sure am not going to pay a HUGE monthly fee for one night a week's swimming. So it's the pond or the river locally if it ever gets warm enough to swim this summer...

MissKelly - I will trade you! Well, partly, it's really hot and humid here, no rain, except maybe at 2-3 am.

rox - congrats on quitting smoking! Very hard thing to do!

I missed SO much today! 1 workday down, 6 to go! Didn't weigh today, tomorrow I think. Scared to get on the scale, I had Subway yesterday, NOT on my plan! I think I am melting - I wonder if its possible to gain from very humid HOT weather?

The scales stayed the same for me today. I wish they'd move a little so I can get under 250 and into the next decade.

Yes, I did sleep in! But, I went to bed at 2:30 and got up at 9:30, so not a ton of extra sleep. Going shopping with my SIL for some capris for my upcoming trip to Florida. I'm not looking forward to clothes shopping at all. I've not lost nearly enough to get into smaller sizes yet.

ubercast - I have been taken to the emergency room with pain so bad they gave me morphine and such before during TOM. I will add some good news to my warning. My pain has lessened. I'm not even sure when the last time I went to the ER was and it used to be about 1 out of 3 TOMs. So, maybe you can hope for a reduction in pain as well.

GirlyGirl - Where in Florida are you off to? I'm headed to Panama City on the 13th.

Well, today I am up 1.2 to 167.6. I am soooo tired of this. Other than a couple days outside the range I have been 167-170 since May 28. I was off plan for 2 nights (not in a row) and they didn't even seem to make a difference. Other than those nights I have been POP and have been exercising and getting my water. I don't get it. I am seriously getting close to throwing some sort of tantrum. I am so frustrated and I have no idea how to fix this. I know that I am creating calorie deficits because my body bugg says so, so why am I not losing?

Swimgirl, just a suggestion...I like to weigh EVERY day regardless of what I ate so that I can see exactly what it does to my weight. Sometimes I can eat pizza and LOSE! It's very eye opening and has been part of what has brought peace between me and the scale. Over time I've come to realize weight loss is more about patience than what I actually do. As long as I'm on plan every day, I know the scale will eventually follow.

I reached some major milestones today, as reported in another post. I have now lost 60 pounds AND am overweight!! :carrot:

I am down .8 today! YAY! Down .6 yesterday, .8 today, hmmm maybe 1 pound tomorrow? lol I don't think so but I'll take whatever I can get.

Roxy - Sorry about the stall!! How frustrating. Do you count calories? I have heard people say that they actually had to up their calorie intake to ge the weight to drop further. I haven't been there yet but I've read it on here more than once.

I can relate to people's comments about losing weight and getting pregnant, and also regulating TOM...I was very irregular when I weighed 260+ but losing weight really helped with that. I lost 60lbs, got pregnant with my son. I lost 30lbs, got pregnant with my daughter...and here I am again. Not planning on anymore any time soon...I really want to get to goal this time and enjoy myself before entertaining the thought of more kiddos. :)

It's contagious....I'm right there stuck with most of you....still at 238.6.

Starting today...pulling out my guns again & doing what I do to get it moving ...severe restriction of my sodium & carbs (25 this time from my norm of 50). My feathers are really ruffled. All of these day in & day out storms we've been having the past week hasn't allowed me to keep up with my nightly laps....except that one night during the week I went in when it was lightly raining & it got harder and I had to get out cus' it hurt my eyeballs. If its not lightning tonight (storms moving in off the Gulf again now as I type...getting darker & windier GRRRRR)...I'm going in tonight anyway....I'll put goggles on this time to protect my peepers.

Fitgirly: Have a great time when you come down here!! I'm hoping your coming will chase all these tiresome storms away!!

Hi y'all!

I got behind on the June thread but it looks like I lost over 10 lbs since June 6. I was up a little today to 300 even. My lowest was 296.4 so I'm keeping that on my ticker 'cause it looks better :D

I'm still derailed on my exercise program. I had a cardiac catheterization done on Thursday. They didn't find any blockages (thank god) but I can't go back to exercising until the doctor clears me and my appointment isn't for almost 2 weeks. That will be 3 weeks off exercise :( but I'm still staying on plan food-wise.

Good luck to all y'all this month!

Omgoodness... I have definitely gotten out of practice in the exercise area. I tried to roll over in bed this morning to nurse my daughter and I yelped from all my soreness. lol It actually hurts to sit down lol. I lost 3 pounds in one day... is that even possible? I did start the SlimFast 321 diet yesterday and the home exercise trainer thingy on freetrainers.com. It took me, in my opinion, way to long to finish the exercises, but I've only just begun! Guess what girls??? I got a new scale!!! Hallelujah for me!

So yesterday I weighed in at 200.8 which means I didn't really lose much the last couple of weeks in June, in fact, I think I may have gained... But I was back down to 199.2 this morning! Woo hooo!!!! And that's even after an afternoon BBQ at SIL's house and dinner too - just had to make sure not to overdo it and it totally paid off. The fact that it's gotten really HOT here the past few days means I've been drinking tons of water and just sweating it out. Feeling pretty good this weekend.

Happy 4th of July!

Lippy - Congrats on the loss. New exercise will make you very sore, I like it though, it makes me feel acomplished.

Kukkie - congrats on the new scale and on being back down

GirlyGirl - Yay for a new decade!

Gina - I’m so glad they found no blockages. I know it is hard to not exercise. I was there in May when I had to have surgery. It’s hard, but it is best to do as the docs say. I’ll be sending you lots of stay under 300 wishes.

I am 165.8 today, that’s down 1.8 from yesterday and .6 from Friday before yesterday’s upjump. I don’t mind if it jumps up every now and then if it goes back down this quickly, I can handle this much better than what was going on for all of June. I hope this continues.

I hope everyone has a happy and healthy 4th! Now I'm off to grill chicken burgers and veggie dogs.

227.0 for me! (down 1.2 since yesterday)

Looks like a lot of us are celebrating the 4th by posting losses: down under 300 (for the last time!), a new decade, back into onederland! So far July seems to be treating us pretty good!

I attribute my steady loss to my near constant diet of fresh blueberries and strawberries. with fat free greek yogurt. I pretty much have to force myself to eat other stuff. But the berries are in season for such a short time and I want to enjoy them as much as I can while they are fresh and cheap.

Happy 4th everyone! Stay on plan and keep up the losses!

Hi ladies! I'm feeling pretty damn refreshed today, despite waking up at 4 am to drop hubby to work. Probably from the 4 day long weekend I just had, but back to work today!

I'm a bit up today, 0.3 from yesterday to 199.5. Probably because I actually didn't eat much yesterday because it was sooo blasted hot over here in Toronto. Blech! I've decided to change my workout days, so I'm off to the gym today after work.

I have a question for you ladies... I know adding lemon to water acts as a dieuretic, but what about lemonade? Do you think it'll have the same effect with the addition of the sugar? Hmm.. Thoughts?

Kukkie84 I don't know if the lemonade will work the same. Here's a couple things to ponder. Is it homemade or store bought? Alot of times a store bought product won't have as much lemons as a homemade product. The manufactured (store bought product) probably has flavor enhancers to give it that tart lemon taste without as much actual lemon. I know when people use lemon water as a cleanse/detox, etc. they use quite a bit of lemon.

Hello Everyone!
I had something weird happen to me. I never, ever lose weight during TTOM. I always gain to a point, then maintain for a few days, then lose the water weight. I lost this morning! I better mark this down on the calendar! ;) There again, life as we know it may be coming to an end. :D So if I wake up tomorrow, 2 pounds heavier, hopefully I won't freak out. Pure awesomeness! Great job!

Yesterday, I spent all day feeling sore and chasing after a hyperactive 9 month old. Did great on my diet. Had to measure out and bake only 2 servings of a cake for hubby and I so I wouldn't over do it and go over my calories. Pretty cool, though... only took 15 minutes to bake! But somehow, it still got to me, gained two pounds. UGH!

Thanks! The gain could be a result of your being sore. Alot of times when you are sore, you are also retaining water in your muscles. Great job on baking the small batches. I do the same thing. I have cookie dough in the freezer. When I bake cookies, I bake 2 for each of us. :D If I were to bake a dozen, we would eat a dozen.

Baking is kind of my thing... I once made a full time job out of it for like 3-4 months. The only problem was everybody kept ordering the same thing (nobody else sold it) and I got burnt out making the same thing hours on end every day lol... Hi friends.

Let me tell you a story. Does anyone remember the massive blackout that happened across the Eastern seaboard a few years back? I thought we had one of those again yesterday. I left work to go to the gym as planned and it's only 15 minutes from my office. I got in the car and put on my favourite radio station, but it wasn't working and I couldn't figure out for the life of me why. So whatever, I drove along my merry way, took me almost 35 minutes to get there because traffic was sooo backed up. And the closer I got to the gym, the more I realized why! The traffic lights weren't working!!! Now, normally when this happens, you treat the intersection like a 4-way stop, but did people do that? God forbid, they try to act like logical thinking people, it was complete chaos. Anyway, I finally pull into the parking lot of the gym, which is on the upper level of a grocery store, and I couldn't help wondering why the parking lot was so empty, a few cars scattered here and there. As I walk up to the entrance, the buggy boy comes up to me, sorry ma'am the store is temporarily closed due to a power failure! Bahhhh... I was so irritated, and it's so blasted hot here in Toronto. At no point, did anything click into my head, because I was so cranky and just looking forward to beating it out at the gym, that the power wasn't working anywhere. It turns out a transformer near one of the subway stations exploded causing pockets of blackouts in and around the GTA. So I leave, weaving my way through this traffic nightmare to get on the highway, which by the time I usually leave the gym is smooth sailing, but of course it was in the thick of rush hour. So another hour to make it home. I was supremely irritated and could only pray that we weren't affected by this power failure. Thank god the AC was working when I got home. The whole point of this sad rant (thanking you for letting me go on, if you've read up to here, then bless you) was that I missed my workout, which obviously bothered me since I finally changed my workout days so I could get an extra day in. Oh well....

After all this crap, I woke up this morning to a pleasant surprise, I'm down a whole lb, to 198.5. Hallelujah!

Coondocks - congrats on the milestone 60. You rock!

Hi Everyone congratulations on all of the losses. Rox glad to see you're feeling better this week. :) Kukkie wow what a day, glad you had air when you got home.

I am hoping I can get some advice from you all. I seem to be stuck at 182.6. From what I've been reading is if my calories allowed is supposed to be:

Ex Fat Loss
Monday 1497
Tuesday 1497
Wednesday 1796
Thursday 1497
Friday 1497
Saturday 1646
Sunday 1497

... my question is if I am burning about 400 calories walking, do I need to eat 400 calories more on top of the 1497 to 1796. Gonna try this zigzag.

Hey all! I am still super busy, working 10 hours a day to make sure everything is DONE! I am trying to catch up with you all, and I am reading, just haven't had time for personals. :(

Coondocks - YAHOO! Congrats, thats a very impressive milestone!

Kukkie - I've been watching the news about the heats Southern Ontario is getting, I bet you are melting! Actually, I know you are! We had those heats ALL last week, 42 degrees at 8am was the hottest I've experience at that time! I find it a little funny actually, we just moved to Winnipeg and it's interesting on the news because they completely bypass Winnipeg on almost everything! Our heat wasn't a major news story, and I was just watching something on housing prices, all major Canadian cities were talked about, EXCEPT Winnipeg.

MissKelly - Yes you really are holding a grudge against those Corn Nuts! Hope you get "regular" soon!

No weighing for me these days either, sleeping very little so I can't imagine it would be good! But my work pants are getting big on me! :)

Oy vay! So much for the pound that I lost yesterday. It's back today, I'm at 199.5 again. Insert extra long sigh here. I feel like I'm yo-yo ing with my weight. But, perhaps it can be explained by TOM's upcoming arrival... And let's be honest, all the ice cream I've been having to keep cool in this yucky weather isn't helping!

Aimee & Coon - it's boiling here!!!! It's become the headline news story everyday on top of the new HST tax. The current joke is that the province doesn't have enough money for anything, but our favourite radio station has enough to go hand out cold water bottles to the homeless to help them survive the heat wave. They're saying it's supposed to be cooler by Friday, I can only hope!

Up 2.5 to 239.2....lol the "Caddy" is back. I have to laugh about it...not going to stress. Anyway...the past week we've had near back to back rain & storms...today, the sun is finally back out, I hope tonight I can resume doing my laps in the pool....they say, "Tonight: Mostly clear. Isolated thunderstorms in the evening." ....so we'll see. Went out yesterday & bought some 16's I fit in ((fit in all but 2 I tried on)) & some L & XL shirts that fit ...so I figure that counts as a mini goal. ((do you think??)) Have quite a bit til I can even zipper up 14's...so I need to bust @$$ to cut a few inches off my hips & waist ((my guess about 9"...I figure close to onderland...if I can ever get out of these 30's. Thing that stinks is the lower we get...the more exercise it takes to burn the same amount of fat than when we burned fat weighing more. Easy days are over I see... =\

Vlad: Huge hugs! It'll go down again very soon. Did your new swim suit arrive yet??

TXMary: That's great news...happy to see your frown turn upside down!!

07-07-2010, 06:38 PM
I've been eating between 1200-1600 calories and lately have been following sparkpeople's guideline of:

Carbs - 170 - 245
Fat - 34 - 59
Protein - 60 - 132

I've found I've been staying under 60g protein so I'm trying to work on that.

Missed my weigh-in this morning. The past week has been one big binge-fest. This has largely been due to the fact that we were broke, and couldn't afford to buy healthy foods. We ate what we could afford/had on hand (which meant lots of ramen and other junk). Also ate out once or twice with family, and didn't make the best choices. Thankfully, I got my paycheck yesterday and we were able to go grocery shopping. Stocked up on a ton of healthy, delicious food. Mostly just fruit & vegetables, with the odd carton of eggs or spaghetti sauce/noodles thrown in.

My sweetheart & I have also started exercising regularly again. The past 3 days we've just got up and done it, and I've felt great (if extremely sore). Going to take it easy today and just head to the pool for a bit of light activity. Might attempt a workout video, but not sure my body can handle it...

UP 2 lbs this morning back to 188.6. TOM how I loathe you . . . . I'm so frustrated this morning that despite the curiousity to see what my pattern is this time of the month and seeing if it's consistant, I think I'm going to avoid the scale until next week.
Its just so darn frustrating to have a woosh and then have it taken back. Mentally I know i'm still on plan, still doing things right and this is something out of my control, but come on . . . . 2 lbs . . . . . not kosher TOM, not kosher, I shake my fists at you again

Whoa, busy place already! Was going to do personals, but I don't think I can keep up. :) Suffice it to say that TTOM sucks, losing rocks, and Uber--a special congrats to you!!!!!

Down another .2 today. I'm now sitting at 208.6... I need all of your absolute honesty here. This is the first time I've been sick since I started losing weight. Should I expect all of the pounds lost while sick to come back? Or am I really going to hold on to this loss?

For background, I was sick on Monday (not a stomach bug, but a fever and cold style bug). I barely ate at all on Monday, ate alot better on Tuesday, and ate normally yesterday. Will it take a few more days for the weight to creep back, or did I really lose 3.4 lbs since Sunday? (I'm thinking that's unlikely, but I'd like your honest opinion and personal experience.)

ETA: Here's my chart so far this month:

1. 211.6 (0)
2. 213.0 (+1.4) Not a good way to start the month.
3. 212.8 (-.2)
4. 212.8 (0)

Uber - congratulations!! Exciting stuff.

Me, I did WI this morning, but it fluctuated a couple times, range of 2 lbs, so I decided not to count it. Being that TOM is around anyway, and surprisingly (sorry if TMI) weirdly heavy. Not normal for me when I'm on the pill... Almost had an accident because I got stuck on the subway for two hours on my way to work, in the sweltering heat with no air. This heat wave has got to go! It has not been a good week for me! Not a happy camper..

Now, I'm not too, too excited because yesterday I was retaining water like mad and up 1.2 from the day before, but it's still down 1.8 from two days ago. It seems artificially low to me, though - I'm expecting a bit of bounce back tomorrow - hopefully not too far back, though!

Rox: I hate stalls. I feel your pain. What plan are you doing? I meant to ask you the other day & forgot. Seems like we might be similar plan. My son was on a full month stall when he hit 199 & all the sudden the scale moved at the beginning of July & he's down to 186 today. I think men are way more patient with stalls than women....he didn't complain anything like I would have been doing. There are still a lot of days left in the month...I think you will hit the 30's.

Oy vay! TOM is wreaking havoc on me this time around... Out of onederland, back up to 201.5, so very frustrated.. Probably doesn't help that the because of that transformer exploding on Monday, the gym has been closed for days. But apparently they're re-opening today, so will definitely have to go get a workout in. Between not exercising and TOM, I feel like crap. On the bright side, it's a bit cooler today. The rain is coming down HARD and doesn't look like it's letting up anytime soon. I never thought I'd be so happy for rain.

MissKelly Thanks, it's been hard trying to stay cool. Because of the power outage on Monday, everyone's been trying to turn up the AC so that the system doesn't get overloaded (even though that's not what caused the outage). Trying to drink lots of water. Bit of a binge on ice cream too lately, but yesterday!

Love2b150 come to think of it, last month mine was pretty light and short too. So maybe it is our bodies making up for it. But I've always been pretty consistent when I'm on the pill - I wonder if the working out is affecting that. I know it does regularly, but I didn't know if it could affect while on BC.

Urthworm Yay for your 2 lbs. What a difference it can make!

to add more confusion/frustration to this TOM scale jumping . . . I am now back down 2 lbs from yesterday.

I don't know if I'm still annoyed or just perplexed that I can have a day that I didn't get to go to the gym, ate sheppards pie complete with potato and cheese topping . . . . and be down 2 lbs.

I have noticed though that since i've lost weight my mood swings aren't necessarily worse . . . but more noticeable, I'm wondering if I was just misserable more often when I was heavier?

Coondocks I've been pretty moody here lately also. Every thing seems to be getting on my nerves. Maybe after my TOM is gone I'll be better ... or maybe it's the fact that my patience is running thin, the scale not budging is making me want to throw it away or shake it, is it working right, it still says 182.8 same as yesterday but up .2 after being 182.6 for 4 days? ughhhhh, thanks for listening :D

Down .4 to 246 even this morning. Really hoping to see a "5" tomorrow!

Thanks, I really hope so too! I'm so anxious to get back into the 230's because that's what I was (around, don't remember exactly) when I got pregnant and then the 220's because that's what I was the last time I lost a lot several years back and I swore I'd never get close to that number again. ha! Also, DH is coming home in a few weeks and I've been uncomfortably overweight for so long, I'm excited for him to see a huge change. He's been gone since mid April.

I've switched my plan around a lot since I started. At first I was doing WW, but I found it wasn't really working for me. I switched to CC'ing and the scale started moving again, but slowly. I was eating around 1600-1700 cals on the recommendation of some online chart. I stalled for a while so I dropped it to 1300 "anything" calories (anything as long as it was in that amount, didn't count or care about anything else) and did well there for a while, then stalled again. Right now I'm doing around 1200 "light" calories- meaning I try to eat as lightly as possible with lots of fresh, raw veggies, very little meat, flat breads and small bagels instead of the heavy grainy breads I was eating. I find I feel a lot better and less hungry (generally, anyway!) when I eat like this which makes it easier on me all around. Were you expecting a book from me? haha

@Vladadog: I take Vitamin D, too. I was actually VERY deficient. I was surprised at by how much, though. What did you find the magnesium did for you?

Vladadog
07-09-2010, 11:23 PM
The Vitamin D (2000mg) made me a bit constipated (things were moving but not normally) and seemed to be giving me insomnia too (which is really unusual considering how sleep deprived I usually am (I work the graveyard shift)).

I took my first magnesium (500mg) last night around 9pm and can report two successful trips to the bathroom since then. And the three hours today I had to get sleep I slept great. I look forward eagerly to maybe a whole 5 hours of sleep tomorrow!

Down .6 to 236.2

Congrats on all losses!!

Vlad: The way I carb cycle it isn't the way I've seen others doing it, I've had to make modifications that get my body's attention...so I guess I'm the alien in it...when the scale doesn't move for 2-3 days...I will jack my carbs up for the day. Sometimes to 100g, this one last time to 110g. My norm on a low day has been between 40-50g. I see some people will cycle every 3rd day or what not. I just use the scale guide me when I think I should. Which I believe categorizes me as a carb cycling wingin' it dork. lol

Rox: Hey, your "books" are more than welcome!! Congrats on your woosh!! Change that ticker girlie! lol......I am so happy you found something that works. Playing around with plans to modify & such always seems like an endless ordeal. When I started in Feb, for about 2 weeks I did 500 cals /day...omg...I was starving & felt so dragged out. I couldn't keep it up with exercise. Not that at 308 I was able to do any stellar exercising lol..I moved like I was a broken down Chevy....but I needed extra energy just to make it a block down the street.

Sebas: Enjoy & have lots of fun!

Vlad: Oh...((I'm having a spacey day))...you asked what "is" carb cycling. Without getting too elaborate here, generally speaking....carb cycling is where you eat low carb/high protein with the occasional high carb/low protein day to "reset" or "re-feed" your metabolism. The days I have a 2+ lb loss is most likely the day right after I had my high carb day...unless I'm ridding of the damn "Cadillac" or getting rid of water lol. Then I go back to eating low carb & high protein....wait a few days til the scale seems to go putt-putt on me & I cycle to high carbs that day & do it alllll over again. Not sure if I missed it in a past post....did you get your new swimsuit in the mail yet?? How is it?? :)

UrthWurm: WTG!!! 140's here you come!

Vladadog

back up to 226.0 but since it's an evening weigh-in and TOM I'm not fussed.

Thanks for the carb-cycling description MissKelly. I'm not a low carb person although I always eat less than myplate says I should. I'll have to lllllllllllllllllllll numbers for the last couple months and see if i can see any patterns.

As for the suit - yes it arrived and it fits (!) and doesn't look too horrible. Of course I wish I looked better but I wish I was 70 pounds lighter too. If wishes were fishes... I haven't found a good place to swim though, not swim for exercise. My original thought was to join one of the health clubs near work and swim a half hour before going in to work. I used to do this years ago and it was great - I was awake, invigorated, and relaxed before work. But of the 4 possible places none of them have late enough pool hours - I'd only be able to swim on Thursday nights and I refuse to pay for a month long gym membership I can only use 4 nights a month. The pond and the river where I sometimes go to cool off don't really have areas where I could swim laps of any sort either. So I'm trying to figure that part out.

Ok I need some thoughts here.

Today, I woke up and went to the bathroom, stepped on the scale and it read 258.5. Went and got breakfast for my son and I. Drank a glass of water. An hour later, i went to get in the shower. Habit made me step on the scale again. I didn't use the bathroom at all in between and it showed me at 255.5.

I did have on sleeping pants and a tank top originally and was naked the second time, but that'd lead me to believe that if I weighed my clothes, they'd be 3 lbs. They didn't even register.

So now I'm just confused. Can an hour make that much a difference especially when no exercise or BM is involved?

Shylah - digital scales are incredibly finicky. I can get on mine 3 times in a row and have it say the same and 5 minutes later it's different by 1.4 pounds. Or 2.6 pounds.

Even though I weigh in daily and sometimes it seems like all my happiness in the world depends on that stupid (not so) little number I still know that at best my scale is giving me a close approximation of my real weight. I tend to weigh three times and if the number is the same then that's it and if it is different, or lower than I'd reasonably expect then I move it a bit and try again.

As for your clothes not weighing three pounds - bathroom type scales aren't accurate at small numbers. A 5 pound bag of sugar by itself might not register but if you weigh yourself and then weigh yourself holding that 5 pound bag of sugar the scale should show a 5 pound difference.
