So I thought I might try to start up a thread similar to the Whatcha Readin' one, but for movies and TV, if anyone is interested. Although of course it's not healthy to sit around and watch TV all day, it's nice to have SOME down time. Since movies are usually something that might be watched as a family, it might be a good idea to include ratings and whether there is anything obviously objectionable.

I just recently got Netflix and I love it. So far, I've watched the original British version of Death at a Funeral and The Lovely Bones.

Death at a Funeral was absolutely hilarious. I have a friend who HATES what he terms as "British Humor", and even he enjoyed it. It's rated R... It's pretty dark humor and there's some drug content, as well as a naked man (from the back), so it's really not for kids, but most grownups should enjoy it.

The Lovely Bones was interesting. As someone who has read the book, I thought it was slightly different in that it focuses more on Susie in the afterlife than the events in her family like the book does. It had a very weird, unsettling feel to it. All in all, though, I would recommend it. It's rated PG-13, and there are some plot elements that are pretty mature, but nothing too graphic.

So... whatcha watchin'?

I just finished up watching The entire Series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Watching TV shows together makes for good "cuddle" time when the boyfriend and I are so far apart. We watch them at the computer and sync up so that we can talk while we're watching them. The last week we've been watching Mystery Science Theater 3000. I think we're watching the Devil Doll episode tonight. We're gearing up to watch the complete series of Angel next. Then perhaps Animaniacs or Pinky & the Brain. Yes we're kids at heart.

Oh, my goodness! I LOVE Anamaniacs and Pinky and the Brain. I guess my boyfriend and I are kids at heart too, because we watch cartoons all the time... haha. We also spend our weekend nights watching the History Channel. I think that probably makes us old people in our 20's.

Oh, I forgot to mention I just started watching Pretty Little Liars, and as much as I didn't want to like it, I do! I kind of want to start reading the books now.

Is anyone else excited about Huge on ABC Family? I can't wait to watch it next Monday. Nikki Blonsky is such a talented actress. Loved her in Hairspray. I'm also excited about the subject matter because as much as I think that leading a healthy lifestyle is a good thing, it's great to see strong female characters who love their bodies and don't let others determine their body image. :)

i just watched one from a few years ago- the 4400. I really liked it, until the last season which i felt kinda jumped the shark a bit. and it was canceled prematurely so i'm disappointed i don't get to see how it ended. all that i still really liked it.

we also just started watching Justified and i am in love!!!

I recently rented Californication, Weeds and the New Adventures of Old Christine. Loved them all.

Right now I'm finishing season one of Nip/Tuck. Loving it too.

On TV, I do love True Blood! And whatever else is on: Sienfeld, Food Network, etc.

But I'm really into renting shows that are already out for some reason.

I just got A Beautiful Mind in the mail from Netflix today, and I've heard it's very good, so I'm excited.

I'm really considering catching up on Grey's Anatomy by going back and watching it from Season 1.

I'm on a total Criminal Minds kick at the moment, HMV had the box sets for 23 for an entire series so series 1 to 3 is now mine. I think I'm falling in love with Doctor Reid, is this a bad thing?

Also because I am a huge massive Stargate geek I've started rewatching series 1 of SG1. Forgot how amazing it is, even if it seems a little dated. I should dig out the original movie as well, that's a gem that I haven't seen for a LONNNNG time.

I've been watching Parenthood, Grey's Anatomy, America's Next Top Model, Next Food Network Star, and The Hills on MTV. I just DVR them and watch them when I have time- love it!

bama, I reccommend watching Grey's from season one. I don't know if you watched the most recent season finale but I thought it was the best two hour season finale I've ever seen.

As for movies, my bf and I have 3 free months of movie channels for signing up with Dish Network and that's all we've been watching.

The most recent was Shutter Island, I thought it was really good!

I'm also really liking True Blood but not wanting to get too into it in case we get rid of HBO when our free period is up lol.

Of course I am following my Bethenny into Bethenny Getting Married? True Blood is on again and thank goodness it is less weird. Also I took my Mom to see the Last Airbender (she loves those kiddie flicks) and it sucked big time.

Shows I should be watching:

True Blood
United States of Tara

Mad Men
Fringe
many, many others, I'm sure...

I watch entirely too much tv, haha. My favorites:

Doctor Who
Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes
The IT Crowd (yeah, I love my British shows!)
The Office US (but I haven't really watched it since season 5)
The Colbert Report
The Real Housewives of NJ (I blame my mom for getting me hooked on this!)

I don't go to the movies that often, but I did see Inception last night....wow!!! It was really good, and the special effects were amazing.

I love:

True Blood

Top Chef
Real Housewives of anywhere (DC is starting soon! I just moved from outside there, so I'm looking forward to watching).

Real World (which makes me feel SO old because I remember watching the very first season when it originally aired)

Pretty Little Liars (not convinced about this one, though)

I love all the house hunting shows on HGTV -- House Hunters, Property Virgins, My First Place

Bethenny Getting Married?

Teen Mom will soon be starting MTV, and I'll watch that, too. Also looking forward to The Event.

I love NCIS, The Big Bang Theory is hysterical (like 2 1/2 Men too, some great lines), Ms. Marple mysteries

we recently rented Men Who Stare at Goats, thumbs up from me, funny, weird, and not even as true as true life (ha), and the Green Zone (love Matt Damon)

if you've never seen Ghost Town, is a really fun romantic comedy. Gervais is a crack up.
