Living Maintenance - How much of a range do you give yourself?

I have not posted in this forum much. I have had a lot going on. I met goal in March and my son Deployed in April, which brought on a few (9) pounds of stress eating..... and I am now trying to get them off.

So, I am wondering how much of a range if any do you give yourself when you gain? I am going to get back down to where I was and stay in the 170s. Do you think this kind of a "range" is dangerous?

My weight range is explained by the Grapic in my signature.

5 lbs.

For me, a 9lb range would be too big. My pants would start to be really tight and some outfits would be unwearable.

My range is also 5 lbs. Since I'm not very tall I think it would really show if I were to go above 135. I also hate the feeling of tight clothes!

ETA:

I forgot to add a congratulations on reaching your goal Tammy and that I hope your son will return home safely before long.

I'm thinking of having 4lb in either direction as my 'take action' weight. I'm not fully certain of my full maintenance intake yet -still raising it - and I also want to go through one more TOTM to work out how I'm likely to fluctuate, so I'll have to see how that goes.

I'm not there yet, but my range will be 5lbs. People on here have said that 5-10lbs is another clothes size, so I'll keep the fluctuation as small as possible. Plus I gain 3lbs of water weight while I'm on my period, so that could be as much as 13lbs including regained weight. Far too much.

Maybe you could have two ranges. A big one for those times when life goes according to plan and a smaller one for the stressed out periods when your eating habits lose control. For example, 10lbs when your son returns home and 5lbs while he's away. That could be too complicated...

Congrats on reaching your goal!

Congrats Tammy!

I set my range at 6 pounds, I can easily retain that much when I eat too much salty food. It doesn't push me up a size, but it is right at the point where things are more snug than I like.

I guess it's basically like a 4-5 lb range. I don't want to get above 140.

(Original goal = 140. Final goal = 135. Though I did go down a little lower without trying -- and then added more calories).

I prefer to be 134-136 for my weekly weigh-ins, but often I am 137 as well, and I guess you could say that I don't sound the alarm until 138/139. I go up to there on my period and on times when I need to hunker down on my sneaky-flowing calories.

I'm not there yet either. I was going to make it a 10lb range, but as I'm closing in on my goal I can see how much difference 10lbs makes so I'm thinking it will need to be 5lbs. I really want to be in the 140's, I think 140-145 will be most comfortable for me (farther away from 150), but it I can't get that low 145-150 would be ok with me as well.

Thank you all for your input. I think I am going to lose what I gained and keep it at 5 pounds.

Also, thanks for the well wishes with my son. You know, I knew this was coming and I know it is what he wants to do.... but when it came right down to it..... good grief it was the hardest thing I had to do.

Mine is not so much a range, but a red line weight (135). I like to stay below that.
