I heard a news report last night that there are more carbohydrate addicts in the US than there are drug addicts. While I'm really wondering about their definition of "carb addict", I thought I'd see what our favorite food group on the board was. And besides, we haven't had a daily poll for a few months now, so it was time!

So I freely admit, I am one of those carb addicts that they talk about, but I really had to struggle between this and the fruit category. Oddly enough, the fats and sweets category is the thing that takes me out of WW most often, but I sure wouldn't call it my favorite food group -- although a few years ago, I wouldn't have hesitated to choose that option!
I did such a monster post yesterday that addressed everyone, so if you didn't get a chance yesterday, read my novella -- it says it all! I hope everyone has a great OP day today. I finished yesterday OP, and it sure did feel good. As I wrote in my journal, I feel so peaceful and in control when I am OP, and I just wish I could bottle that feeling for the horrible days, like Tuesday. If I could just capture that feeling, I would totally remember why this is worth the struggle!
Laura, I hope you're alive after your work-filled day. Marcie, I hope we get to see that ring today. Deb, I hope you got all your homework for class done. Lisa, did you get a chance to hit the gym with Brian yet? Jess, let me know if the whoop@ss needs to be opened at your plant on Miss Thang -- Kier and I got your back! Speaking of whom, Kier, if we are gonna give a beating, we need you healthy! Tonya and Lori, we are OP girls! We are motivated and we will do this ( just keep telling youself that!). Belle, here's a hug to get you thru this house situation with your mom -- good luck to you honey! KT, how's your new place working out for you? Kirsty, how is all the glamorous travel going, you jet-setter, you? Everyone else, I'll come back later if I have time and play!

Hi, My name is Marcie and I am a carb addict.
I had a great night last night with my friend, and I only had a glass and a half of wine and one cracker with cheese. Pretty darn good for me!
We are going to Dave and Buster's today. I do not know if anyone is familiar with it, but it is like a GIANT chuckie cheese for adults. Lots of awesome games and a restaurant/bar. It is tons of fun....but can get expensive quickly. Thankfully I have a few gift certificates from there and since we are going during the day we wont drink.
I cant believe it is already thursday, my vacation is almost over!

Good morning, everyone! I woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday and couldn't understand why my alarm was going off. When I realized it's only Thursday, I was really disappointed.
I put that my favorite food group is dairy. Before WW, I could down a half gallon of milk in a single sitting--I love milk. And then there's cheese, oh my goodness, how I miss eating cheese like it was no big deal. :) And ice cream falls into this group, as well and what's not to love about ice cream? Then there's sour cream and cottage cheese, so much to love about the dairy group!! :)
Had WI last night, was down 1 lb, yippee! I've started WI with jeans on since it's getting cool and they're making me weigh more, but at least I'm losing and know that a lot of my problem is my jeans. :)
I have a document on my desk that is going to be the biggest headache ever--it's almost 1000 pages, ick...
That's about all the news I have to report now. I gotta get my face put on and start working on this big old beast.
Jayne--I completely know what you're talking about--the feeling at the end of an OP day is one of accomplishment and one of feeling like you're totally in control. I just wish that I could remember that when someone sets a piece of pizza in front of me or offers me a brownie. :)
OK, I gotta get to work now. Sigh...

Good morning, Marcie! We were posting at the same time--Way to go last night! You deserve a dancing monkey for your accomplishment! :jig: Have fun today, it sounds like a super-fun place, I really wish I could join you and not be here pulling my hair out. :)

I forgot to mention earlier what a great job I'm doing drinking my water. I was up 3 times last night and usually don't get up at all for that. :o :D

Hey all... Emma got a scratch on her face, but they said it happened after pictures. They also said she didn't want pics taken, but the teacher stood with her and she did it. We'll see how they turn out.
As for the carpet, Jayne, no we don't have that outlet here. The problem is that we have over 600 square feet to carpet in the basement and because it is on concrete, the installation is a little more expensive. We are pushing close to 2 thou for it. YIKES! So that is why we are shopping around. If we have to spend that much, we better get the best for the price. Also, I am going to see if we can cut a deal because of the amount we need, etc.
Marcie, yah on last night!
Jess... yah on the loss!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and for the poll, I love carbs, but I think I equally love protein and dairy also. And I love fruits and veggies too. OK, guess I can't decide!

Can I pick more than one group? I love fresh bread, right out of the oven, and pasta, but who can really get enough chocolate??:)
I am also an ice cream addict-we are beginning to see why i need WW!
WI tonight-I'm not expecting a lot since I didn't exersize much this week-but I am on my way home now to exersize and clean the bathroom!
Tomorrow I am off to my best friend's bach party-should be fun, but it means I need to pack tonight.
Hope everyone is well:)

Hello girls!
I'd have to say that I love ALL of the categories; but I went w/ fruits & veggies because I crave salads and veggie based meals.
Jayne - How's it going? I loved reading yesterday's post. Journaling/writing is such good therapy, isn't it? And it's cheap too ... I posted a quiche recipe on the Yum-Yum thread. I remember definitely making a Crustless Quiche and this is the one I found on DWLZ.com and WW recipe swaps. For more quiche recipes check them out! They all sound delicious!
How is Aaron? My advice to you is to get back to the basics & journal. Be it good or bad, start journaling. I thought about that on the drive into work today. I have a big problem w/ out of sight, out of mind (wonder why ... ) and haven't been journaling this week. It makes a big difference in your choices throughout the day.
PS - thanks for the chili recipe!
I've got my crockpot cooking up some Chicken Stroganoff for dinner tonight. I can't wait!
Next thing I'm going to make in it is that potato scallop recipe, minus the ham but maybe substituting turkey or chicken.
And THEN I cannot wait to make the chicken pot pie recipe. I already bought the crescent roll! Thanks Jen for the comfort food post! :D
And on Sunday, since the fall is here and I'm getting all kind of fall-y I'm going to make this caramel apple crisp recipe I found. Love the smell of baking. Then I have to get it out of the house (there's that out of sight, out of mind reasoning again) - over to Mom's house it will go. I'm going to post that recipe too.
I've just realized I'm behind on paperwork (who, me?) could be because I didn't do anything yesterday.
I'll be back later!

Greetings....
I am in high spirits today since I did AWESOME yesterday! It was my bowling night too, and we bring in "munchies" to share. I brought some BLT wraps I made with flatbread, bacon pieces (from a jar in the salad dressing section), lite cream cheese, and tons of lettuce and tomatoes. They were EXCELLENT and only 2 points each. Since they were dinner time for me, it worked out really well - they were really filling.
Deb I totally agree about the journaling. I tend to make better choices if I know I'm going to write it down....maybe its a guilt thing? I've also purchased some cool smiley stickers for my day planner and I get to put one on each day if I stay within my points. Surprisingly, that is a motivator for me! I also have little feet stickers that I get to put on if I get my 10,000 steps (I wear a pedometer all day) for the day.
I really think this week is going to go well and I'm hoping I can get through the weekend!
Have a great day everyone!
Jodi
p.s. I too am a carb addict....give me garlic bread or cheesy potatoes over a chocolate bar any day!

Oh my gosh, Jodi, that is an excellent idea! I'm a lot like you--I'd be totally motivated if I got to put a smiley on the top of my journal page for the day. :) I need to go to Hobby Lobby anyway, I'll definitely have to pick up some smiley faces and maybe some athletic shoes to put on top of the pages I work out. Thanks for the excellent idea!!

Jodi & Jess ...
I've shared this before but I make a monthly calendar w/ 2 photos of me on it (I created this in Microsoft Publisher using a template) - one is a "phat" photo and one is a goal (from 2 novembers ago). Each day that I'm OP I put a shiney star sticker in the box for the day & for each sunday's weigh in I write down either the loss or gain and I keep this on my fridge.
I also bought a fat lil notebook to do my journaling in, this way I have week after week of daily journals and I put a miniature calendar (the same one from the fridge) and put these tiny smiley faces in each box for the day that's OP.
I p/up my stickers from the 99 cent stores.
I also have my palm pilot w/ the WW calc program (bootleg :o ). Nothing seems easier & better than writing though.
Thought I'd share ...
We're having server/software problems, so I can't do my intended work. Phooey!

Hi ladies - I was in a meeting all morning yesterday so I didn't post. I got to find out all about my benefits they are awesome – full medical and extended medical, dental after 3 months and pension plans and life insurance – it almost makes me want to work here forever – but alas, I will eventually go back to school.
As for the poll, I am definitely a carboholic. I discovered early on in my journaling if I had bread more than 3 times a week I would gain so I’ve almost completely cut it out of my life except for the high fibre breads.
Jayne – thanks for the poll and the entertaining post from yesterday. My new place is fine but I’d kind of like to be on my own and not in someone else’s space so I’m looking.
Marcie – hope you have a great time today – sounds like a blast.
Jess – milk is good – I especially love it with fresh hot chocolate chip cookies or all mixed up with some ice cream. Way to go with the water – I try to stop around 6 so I don’t have to get up too much in the night but I always do anyway.
Jen – did you ever think about laminate flooring and area rugs? Sometimes they’re easier to instal but I have no idea about the cost.
Hi Lori!!
Deb – you are making me hungry. A friend of mine uses her crockpot all the time – stroganoff sounds great!
Jodi – Hi and welcome – those wraps sound great, I think I’ll try them – thanks for the tip
And hi to anyone else hanging around – I hope I’m doing all right this week – I guess I’ll find out this weekend – my meeting is closed and I’m going to one closer to my house – maybe I’ll like the leader a bit better – you never know… I did get out for a run and to an aerobics class – we’ll see if that lasts.

Hey me again... Not much new, same old work crap.
KT... we looked into the wood floors, the good ones are more expensive. And we have to get the good ones because we have a dog and we need it resistent to nail scratches. She is a big dog with big nails. Also, we would have to do the steps in that and I worried about either the dog or kids slipping on the wood. Mostly the dog because she is a clutz!!! And then again, the scratches on the steps. So, yes we wanted that initially, but it was not the best option for us.

KT, I'm glad you found a job that gives you benefits...those are hard to come by here, I don't know how common they are in Canada. Most places try their hardest to get by without giving them to you!
Deb, thanks for posting the recipes...boy, can I use some change in my diet. I'll try them. Also, thanks to you and Jodi for the sticker chart idea. I use them with my three and four year olds, and I don't know why I think they don't work for me, too. I'm going to give it a try if I get time to put one together this weekend.
Jodi, those wraps sound dee-lish! Would you mind posting your recipe for that on the recipe thread? That would be a great lunch for me to bring to work. Also, I think we do have the psychic connection you mentioned on my journal page. :)
Lori, you turkey! Now you've got me craving fresh bread, chocolate, and ice cream. Yeah, I need WW too! Have fun at the beach party -- hope you have good weather for it!
And Jen, as for you MIss Undecided, I should have checked that option that let you choose more than one. OH well. Two thousand dollars is quite a hit for carpet...ouch is right! If I were you, I'd get the best money can buy too...it would really end up cheaper in the long run if you weren't replacing it in five years because it got all mashed up and bally. Be sure to take pictures and post them, I can't wait to see how it comes out.
Jess, I'm with you..I used to love big glasses of milk and cheese and ice cream and I was always sick for reasons I couldn't figure out...so then I was diagnosed lactose intolerant. No more huge glasses of milk, since lactose-free milk costs twice as much as the other stuff! I have pills I can take so I can still have dairy, but at about a dollar a dose, you better believe I am real choosy about what I have. Good luck with your mega-document!
Marcie, my husband used to go to Dave and Buster's in Atlanta when he was at Georgia Tech, and he always talks about it. I'm dying to go. Tell us all about it! Have fun and enjoy your last four days of nothingness!!!
Everyone else, it's slow today -- come out and play!!!

Jayne, there is a Dave and Busters on the North Side of Chicago if you ever get that far south. I think in the Schaumberg area.
And yes I am undecided. This could be PG related tho, since I seem to want everything!! And I am always hungry. I forgot how being this hungry can really get annoying!!
Oh and I will post some pics of the basement, but we won't be able to get the carpeting installed for a couple of weeks, so you will have to wait a little longer. The painting was supposed to be finished today (yah). They are measuring for carpeting on Monday, then we order it. I told them that they may not want to do that while things are so wet down there. I went down last night when we got home and they had sprayed primer and texture... ooooo it was wet.
Oh and I did stick with the colors, tho when I was buying then I was a little nervous. The taupe color is lighter than I thought it would be, so we'll see what it looks like on the walls. I have to wait until after swim class tonight.... I hate waiting!
Oh and remember that the reason that this is so expensive is that it really is a large area... The basement area that is finished is the size of my kitchen/dining area, living room and master bedroom... it is directly under those rooms. So this is a huge addition to our living space.... I CAN'T WAIT. We are so crowded upstairs!!!

Marcie, that looks a lot like mine. For the wedding band, we bought a wrap band that had 2 square cut diamonds on each side. It is a wider band that fit over the solitare band, thus making it wider. Solitares are great because you can basically do whatever you want for a wedding band, simple or fancy!! I used to work in a jewelry store, so it was fun picking out the wedding band....
Congratulations...

I can not wait to go look at wedding bands...a friend of mine has a wrap that is really pretty. That is probably what I will do...something to dress it up a little.

Marcie - the ring is beautiful! Did he pick it out himself?
Does anyone have any tips on how to get the 5 servings of veggies in? I'm having a really hard time with it. I try to have a salad with lunch every day but when dinner time rolls around I fill up on meat and bread (ugh!) and don't feel like eating them. It's almost like I need to sneak them in somehow....

Gorgeous ring, Marcie!!!
Jodi, for fruit and veggies, here is what I do. I always eat fruit ( bananas, blueberries, strawberries, raisins) in my cereal in the a.m., so that's one serving out of the way. For a morning snack, I usually have a piece of fruit or some raw veggies. At lunch, I make sure that if I have a sandwich, it's got lots of romaine lettuce and tomato slices on it, and there's always raw veggies and fruit with lunch. I also try to get a salad in, with some FF dressing, so it's only one more point. So this gives me like three or four servings already, and for dinner I either do a salad and a side veggie, or just a side veggie. You can really dress up those veggies, too...for one point, you can put 1 1/2 TB shredded cheese on broccoli or cauliflower and melt it...nummmy! You can also make a green bean casserole with FF cream of mushroom soup for not too many points. And then, fuit makes a great dessert, it's just a little something sweet. Hope some of these suggestions help! Good luck...
