WW At Home - weekly @Home Thread - What's your biggest dieting weakness?

06-05-2010, 09:08 PM
Hello everyone!
I hope that all is well! The last time I was here, I enjoyed posting on a weekly thread - it was a great place for daily support and encouragement. I hope that many of you will join in!

The question I started us with is "What is your biggest dieting weakness?" Mine is exercise. I have to force myself to do it. I just started today after being back on plan for 2 weeks. My goal is to start slowly - just 10 minutes a day at first. Then I will begin moving it up a few mnutes each week.

Had a good day point wise today - my WI in tomorrow so we'll see what happens!

Hi! My biggest challenges are sodas and exercise (or lack of). I am adjusting my attitude on each of them. Right now my goal is simply 15 minutes of some sort of movement a day and fewer sodas. When I try to eliminate them completely then I seem to want them even more. When I know I can have them if I really want them, and mark the points, the craving for them seems to decrease a bit.

WTG on getting a plan in action! I think that is the first step - for me the second it to actually make myself do it!

Soda was a big challenge for me too the first time - especially Coke. I am NOT a fan of diet sodas, so it was a hard adjustment. I finally found a diet drink that I liked though - A&W Diest Cream Soda. My "reward" for getting all of my water in daily is one can of soda with dinner. I know that it is technically a "food" reward, but when I think I can't take another sip of water, I think of that and guzzle it down!

I am an old pro at WW.... I have been on plan Since December 2008 (losing since Aug 2008), the further along I get the harder and harder it is for me to track daily.... I have a lot of hit and miss days in my tracker....

I have come up with plan after plan to make tracking work for me.... I guess I just haven't' found what works for me yet...(who knew it would take so long, eh?) I am still working on making tracking a habit, I only have about 30 more lbs I would like to lose so I really need to get a handle on it before maintenance!!!

I drink pop galore... (I don't want to give it up and it doesn't effect my weight loss at all!) :)

All of the above! :p
I don't drink enough water...have half a soda almost every day, track at
the end of the day and don't exercise enough :o.
I have good intentions everyday, and try to change my bad habits, but some days are very challenging.

I think mine is to track my social life...

It is very hard to drink diet soda or water in the party instead wine or beer...

but we will get there

For me it's wine...and exercise. I have never really had a taste for soda and from what I'm reading I think I'm alone in that one. I have a hard time writing all the points down as well. My weekends are the hardest and it takes till wednesday to get on the right track again where I am less than I was before the weekend. Oh help!!

Overeating. Not points wise. I always stay within my points. But I get full really quick, but continue to eat. So I am still over stuffing myself..

Being a full-time mum to a baby! He's demanding, so I often find myself cooking small but high points value snacks or meals and then am left unsatisfied, also, I'm not too great at saving points and am always scrimping & scraping by the end of the day! xxxx

chocolate.. though those skinny cow ice cream are awesome!

unfortunately i am gonna say work. i am paying for a membership at the ymca and never make it there cause i am so tired when i get home from work. i have to get up at 3 a.m every morning for work and it is so hard to do anything after work.

Tracking is definitely hardest for me. I've been doing ww online at home for about a year and a half now and I find that I just can't get myself to track anymore. If I decide that I want to eat something that I can't fit into my points I just say "screw it, I just won't track today" and before I know it I've gained 8 pounds that week!

If you are on a diet, you aren't on WW. WW is a cognitive behavior change program that teaches you how to eat for life. Diets are all failures. They have a beginning and an end and after they end you go back to your old way of eating and gain it all back.

Exercise is imperative is you want to keep the muscle mass you have and lose fat.

11-01-2010, 08:31 PM
Exercise? What is excercise??? LOL! That is definately my weakness. I bought the Zumba DVDs and my goal is twice a week for this week. Then move up to 3-4 times a week. It is so easy to sit on the ol' bottom and do nothing. :dizzy:

11-02-2010, 01:54 PM
Exercise, I've got to exercise more!

12-13-2010, 04:55 PM
Food. I can't eat "diet" food, and my traditional way of cooking is sort of the Julia Child method... every recipe starts with a stick of butter. :O I have to learn how to cook the things I like in a better way.

I love chocolate and dislike most fruits and veggies. I can't stand the lettuce it is nasty

12-13-2010, 09:35 PM
You all need to get off your butts and exercise!! It's key to weight loss!!!I maybe tired before or after i workout, but hey i did it, and i can tell the world about it! And you know how many people will be proud of you because of it!? A lot! Guess what? You'll make yourself very proud too! I'm not trying to yell.. this is my way of motivating you ladies! Get up and move baby! I enjoy leslie sansone, shes on demand or on dvd. Shes great!

Mine is bread. And wine. If I make a loaf of bread to go with some nice low-cal soup, I can end up eating half the loaf all by myself!!! AAA!! And the wine, oh the wine...

I'm taking it slow with exercise. Today I took the kiddos out in the wagon (put the 2yo and the 3yo in the wagon and front-packed the 11mo) for about 20 minutes. I just wish the baby would stop waking me up at 3 in the morning to nurse, and then I might have more energy for a real workout. :)

Exercise is definitely my weakness. I whined to my fiancee that I wanted a home elliptical because I was having trouble getting motivated to go to the gym. He caved in and bought me one off craigslist. After maybe a month I was tired of it and now it's a clothes hanger =/

I'm too lazy to get up at 5:30am to work out, and by the time I get home from work and cook dinner, I'm too tired. I have to make a change somewhere!

12-22-2010, 04:49 PM
Weekends, vacations and holidays are my weakness. I can be really good most days, but put me in a room with my family and a plate of Christmas cookies and bad things happen.

12-22-2010, 05:11 PM
I guess mine would be exercise. I have the dvds, I have on-demand, I have weights. I have it .. I just have, to do it more. I have the tools but I'm not picking them up. I did today... any how.

I think I'm doing okay but sometimes I slack on my check marks for water intake and getting to my GHG. each day.

12-28-2010, 06:41 PM
This thread made me laugh because my weakness is so ridiculous. I'm good with exercise, tracking, eating vegetables, drinking water, and I don't care for soda so that's not a problem.

My challenge is resisting my desire for champagne, beer, wine, vodka cocktails, homemade margaritas and mojitos. YUM!

12-28-2010, 08:09 PM
Oh River, ya you are in trouble. Home made Mojitos...oh. Man are they good.

01-02-2011, 08:34 PM
Mine is soda, I don't like water. Also, for me it is also work. I'm so mentally stressed when I get home at night, I find it very hard to think about exercising. That same stress causes me to just grab a soda or has me giving in and eating something from out as it is too easy.

I'm starting 2011 out with a new attitude...along with trying out WW. From 2008-2009 I lost 28lbs on my own just watching what I eat and exercising, but I've now gained back 35 and am now at my top weight. I really want to get my life back under control, I felt so good when I lost that weight!

When I first started reading this, I thought "have I already posted to this thread?"

Bread and wine is mine too. When I started WW I stopped buying wine. Way to easy to over pour a glass, top off a glass, finish the bottle... Now I buy my Sam Adams beer, I have one a night and I'm done. My wallet is happier, too.

And bread, that has to stay out of the house too

I'm fine with exercise - I like to just lace up my shoes, get my flashlight & reflective vest and go for evening walks around town. Just got back from an hour long one among all the quiet houses with their pretty Christmas lights still up.

not safe to walk around these parts at night.

My weakness that is not out of the house is Warm Crusty Bread.

WOW I could swear there are a few of us that have been cloned!....Bread count me in...Wine every night....exercise got the equipment but time is so short. I refuse to get up at 4am to workout.

So I have made a new resolution (and not one for the new year those are not motivating to me)
My eve wine is now going to be a wine spritzer 1/2 the points, exercise will start as soon as my foot has healed (turned and burised it last week) I even bought a new dvd! Food and pts..just finished goign through my ww cookbook libaray and am going to try recipes I have skiped in the past

01-03-2011, 04:51 PM
sounds good Nancy,

What's the name of your new DVD?
I wouldn't get up at 4 AM either for nothing. Unless I needed to catch a plane some place. other then that, no way .

someone above, you are not the only one who doesn't like the sodas. i've never been a big coke drinker, so that's no doubt saved me from some pounds through the years. i have a comfort food, but it's black coffee! no cream or sugar, thankfully! however, i love chocolate, and even dark chocolate is my favorite so i can be choosy about which chocolate i eat. but, my biggest weakness is that i get really hungry, and usually every few hours. i can eat 'real food', not even so much sweet junk food, but i can eat more than my body burns hmph. even today, at this hour, i've had 2 pieces of whole grain toast with 1 tbsp smart balance between them, and 4 ounces of beef roast, and i've used 12 of my 30 points for the day. i have no more weekly ones and over a days' worth of activity points left that i would rather not use but i've already used 3.

White wine!!

I enjoy my two glasses....I know it is 240 calories, but I hate giving it up. So I walk super fast each day for one hour :)
