For those who liked last month's challenge and want to do it again/join in.

Set a goal for the month of May on how many minutes you want to spend on your Wii workouts!

Log your workouts each day (what workout & how long) and at the end of the month we'll see how we did!

Also use the thread to discuss workouts, what you like and what you don't etc.

Good luck.

(phrasing just plain stolen from vertigoskyy's May challenge ;) )

Hey guys, hope it is OK that I'm starting the thread about to do some Wii now.

My plan is 30 mins 3 times a week.

I pledge 360 mins

Week 1: 1st-8th
30/90
Week 2: 9th-16th
0/90
Week 3: 17th-24th
0/90
Week 4: 25th-30th
0/90

Total:
0/360

I'm in again! Last month's challenge really motivated me. I'm going to do 30 minutes at least 6 days a week. 20 minutes on the strength/yoga routine I have on the Wii Fit Plus and then at least 10 to get the heart rate up. So that's 780 for this month.

I'm not counting minutes, but last week I started the 30 day Wii Active Challenge - so my goal for the month is to complete that on schedule - so, at least 5 Wii Active workouts a week.

What sort of things are included in the Wii Active?

ETA: I've got 18:23 on my piggy bank. I sure hope it changes color when I hit 20 hours. I'm stupidly motivated by those color changes....

What sort of things are included in the Wii Active?

It's got a lot of different activities - sports: boxing, tennis, basketball, volley ball, dancing, jogging, inline skating

And then strength excercises like squats, lunges, upper body resistance band excercises. . .just a bunch of stuff.

All the activities are combined in different work outs - there are pre-programmed ones for various things (like upper body, lower body, sports, marathon training, etc) or you can set a routine of your own. It comes with a resistance band and a legstrap to hold the nunchuck (although the strap really should be bigger - I had to lose 60 lbs before it would fit - although I could usually get the excercise to work with the nunchuck in my pocket).

Anyhow, they have a 30 day challenge where they give you a series of workouts over 30 days - and you can pick if you want easy, medium, or hard. It's really a lot of fun.

I tried counting minutes last time and well so many things happened that it just didn't work out. So I think I want to change my strategy a little bit. Instead of counting minutes, I want to count workouts. I used to be great at doing 3 workouts a week. However, now I'm lucky to get 2 in. So I'm going to aim for my usual 3 Wii workouts a week. I do other Wii workouts but not on Wii Fit.

Goal is to get a little more in shape and then move to EA Active and do the 30 day challenge and complete it.

I missed Wednesday and Thursday due to a crisis at work (and especially on Wednesday I really missed doing my Wii time; by Thursday I was too pooped to miss much of anything...). So now I'm at work on my regular shift and I managed 41 minutes including my now slightly lengthened strength and yoga routine but it was a pretty pathetic work-out that's for sure. The "instructor" kept commenting on how shakey I was. I was tempted to quit part way through but I didn't! And I even tried a couple new things.

Welcome to the newcomers!

I only got 6 minutes done last night. I wasn't as exhausted as the previous two nights but I actually had to do work related work last night (darn, I hate when that happens) and just didn't have time to Wii. But I'll bring it home tomorrow and start adding up those minutes!

Welcome Blueyes!

I'm slowly plugging away at my June goal. Now that my piggy has turned silver my current motivation is to get my Wii Fit weight down into the "obese" category. Right now the bar is above the top of Obese even though BMI-wise I went from morbidly to severely obese 5 or 10 pounds ago. So every time I get on the balance board I'm hoping the bar will move down.

Quick report: I managed to complete 60 mins on Wii Fit on Fri. And I just finished a 65 min workout today. :carrot:

So that gives me a grand total of....315/1000

Last month I had a great weight loss (over 15 pounds)! And I credit the Wii with some of that because it sure does get me up and moving when I would otherwise be reading or on the computer or eating something I really am not hungry for. This month, not so much but the scale keeps going down slow but sure so I'm okay with it.

I am getting fitter thanks to the Wii - exercises I couldn't begin to really do a couple months ago I can pretty much always do now and not look terribly pathetic....

I have just rediscovered exercise with the Wii - I have been doing Wii Fit and Walk About It

My goal for the moth is 400 minutes, and so far I have done 149/400 minutes

Todays total - 32 min

Basic Step for a warm up, Advanced step, 10 min of free step, Advanced Hula Hoop, for cool down - two Yoga poses, 2 x's on ski jump, 2 x's on the marble table game

Walk about it is on tomorrows agenda!

I just bought a copy of Wii Sports Resort on ebay. I'm hoping there will be more fun "keep me moving" games on it to help motivate me.

I think I'll make my minutes for this month but just barely. Summer just isn't the best time for me to find Wii time. And usually I find time at work but recently that's been a challenge too.

I hope everyone else is getting their minutes in!

What parts did you do? I started the 30 day fitness challenge and I "feel" like I am getting a better work out than the Wii Fit plus. I sweat more and breathe harder. (but that could just be my outta shape self! ;))

Hi!! I feel like it's a little late to join the challenge for June, but I'd like to join in with the chat! Does anyone else here have Wii Walk It Out? I just got it last week, and I think I'm in love! This is the most fun I've had exercising ever. It has inspired me to buy Just Dance. I mostly need more cardio right now, I'm going to Curves 3X a week and I think that's enough strength training while I'm trying to get back into exercise.

My long term goal is Zumba. Either DVD, in person, or on the Wii. It's coming out during the last quarter of 2010.

I wish I would have noticed this Challenge at the beginning of the month. I have active, walk it out and just dance and love to switch up on them daily, depending on how I feel. I can't wait to get Dance on Broadway which comes out Tuesday. If you all are going to have a Challenge in July I would love to join.:D

I did the 30 day challenge and then went and tried a bunch of other exercises. With the challenge I felt like half the time I was messing with the gear - grab the resistance rubber bands, put them back down, stuff the nunchuk in the holster, take it out, stuff it in, out, in, get the resistance thing again. For about half the work out I was apparently wearing the (annoying) thigh band too high and it wasn't registering my movements very well. When it slipped down that got better. And there were a few exercises that I was doing and the system wasn't catching - like something wasn't synched properly.

With those kinks worked out it might well be a better work out then the fit but it wasn't any fun for me so I know I'd soon stop doing it. Things like the flying chicken and the obstacle course or even the run with the quiz at the end are fun enough to keep me coming back for more. I'm sweating after a half hour on the Fit but with Sports active I just wanted to throw the equipment out the window.

But that's me and my 5-years-old-and-short-attention-span attitude about exercise. Silly games are really good for me because apparently I refuse to grow up....

I picked up Walk It Out about two weeks ago and love it too! It doesn't seem like I am exercising at all! I am restarting to exericse, so I set my minute limit on the low side - 10 minutes - but I find I constantly walk for 15-20 with this game!

I know what you mean. The running one always says too slow and I am "running" my @$$ off (or at least I think I am :))

I do need some variety as well. I have had the Wii fit and Fit plus for over a year now and am bored with the exercises. I am going to look into the Walk it Out and others mentioned and make a schedule for myself so I don't get bored!

I'd love to hear what "Just Dance" is like. And "Biggest Loser" too. I really do best with things that are more like games and less like formal exercise. That's why the obstacle course and the flying one where you wear a chicken suit (Fit Plus) are so good for me - I'm getting my work out without actually "exercising". I'm going to give Sports Resort a try.

I got a good 2 mile walk in today and then did 35 minutes on the Wii while I was listening to a news program on the radio but I'm still thinking I'm going to have trouble reaching my goal for this month.

I don't think I'll commit to the Wii in July and August but come Fall I hope someone is still doing a monthly Wii challenge because it really does motivate me.

I swear, the only reason I got the Wii out tonight was becauase of this challenge. But I'm glad I did.

I did 32 minutes on the Fit and then broke out Wii Sports Resort (used off eBay) for the first time. Most of the activites aren't a work out but they are fun. I only counted my sword fighting toward my minutes (but I had to estimate that since I couldn't find a place it kept track of how many minutes it took me to get killed.

Anyway, i feel like I might make my goal for the month but just barely...

I love the Wii Fit. I have EA Sports, Punchout, Wii sport resort, and My Fitness Coach. My fav is still Wii Fit though. :D

I want to work on the strength training on the Wii Fit 1 a week. I like to finish my workouts with yoga so I'll keep doing that.

Adding this to my already set workouts will give me an extra day to workout. :D :yay:

Although since I'm in the middle of moving there may be a week I'm not able to play, but hopefully that won't be the case.
