It' summertime, everyone!

It's grilling and party season...YUM! So, let's make some healthy changes and choices together! All are welcome!

Here's how it works: Just state your weight-related or health goal, whether it be a loss in pounds, inches, size, or even an intangible feeling! You need not state your weight if you feel uncomfortable. Though the thread is titled "weight loss" please bear in mind that the overall goal is toward a healthier us and so your goal may not revolve around weight loss, it may be maintenance, eating healthier, and/or kicking a soda habit...whatever the case may be. Fitness and Exercise goals can be listed in our sister thread: June Exercise Challenge.

Note: We try to keep a members list with our goals and when goals are met, we highlight it in bold, red print! We love to celebrate with you! However, please don't feel bad if/when you may not reach a specific number, goal, etc. Always remember that making positive changes along the way (the journey) are wonderful accomplishments in and of themselves.

Monthly weight loss challenge FAQ's:

Do we weigh-in on a certain day and how frequently?
No, we don't have a specific WI day. When and how often we weigh-in is a personal matter and specific to each of our own indivual needs.

Do we need to post personals?
Absolutely not. Some do and some don't . If you don't have time for personals it's okay.....please post anyway.

Is everyone on a specific plan?
We are all on various plans. Some do WW, South Beach, our own plans, etc., though we do believe in and follow the guideline of not going below 1,200 cals a day.

What day do we count our loss, the last day of the month or the first of the following month?
Either way.

I hope to see people returning from earlier monthly Weight Loss Challenges and any newcomers. You can join at any point in the month, so let the challenge begin!

I'm not going to include my starting weight, because it's not quite June yet. My goal for this month is modest, since I've had a struggle this month. I'm aiming for 216. That's 4.8 lbs from where I am today.

In other news, I think I figured out part of my struggle for the past month. This month, I've been on an avocado kick - I live in Mexico and they're healthy, cheap, in season, and yummy. I've been eating a lot of them, way, way more than I usually do. A couple of weeks ago, I started getting a lot of nausea and indigestion. I thought it was because my doctor wanted me to do a trial of weaning off my rx heart burn meds - but it got worse and worse and worse. The nausea and indigestion turned to severe painfrom my stomach through my chest and made it hard to breath. A couple of nights ago in the middle of this, my mouth got dry and itchy along with the severe pain that took hours to subside. I finally decided I needed to figure out what was going on - so I looked back over my food logs and sure enough - every time I ate avocado, the symptoms started. The days I didn't eat any? I was fine. Dr. Google tells me this (both the mouth and the stomach) is a sign of avocado allergy :(. It makes sense, as my youngest son is allergic to kiwi and my mom is highly allergic to latex, and they're all in the same family. I'll be talking to my doctor about it the next time I see her, but for now I'm assuming it's an allergy (and a very unfortunate one for me, at that! I love avocado!) Anyhow, I've basically been poisoning myself all month - no wonder my body hasn't been having any part of doing anything but fighting it off! My weight loss stalled right when I the nausea started, and now that I've been a few days avocado free, the scale is moving down again.

Hi everyone, I want to join in, too. My goals for June:

1) Calorie count to consist of 1400-1600 daily.

2) Exercise 4-5 times a week for at least 50 minutes.

3) Drink only water, tea or 1/2 serving fruit juice mixed with 1/2 water.

4) Resist POTATO CHIPS of any kind or any amount. They are my guiltiest "snack, junk and cheat food." (I do not normally adhere to total deprivation, but for the month of June, I will not eat any chips.)

5) Reach a goal weight of 225 by Thursday, July 1.

Ok, so I'll join.

My birthday is July 1, so I'll weigh tomorrow morning.

My goals for June~~

*lose 10 lbs-doable for me if I really stick with it
*start doing some form of exercise at least 3X week. Right now it's basically nothing. I have, for the most part, a sit down job, but I could walk on a break or do something with one of the shows on Fit tv.
*instead of that afternoon cuppa coffee w/reg half n half, I'll have a cuppa green tea. This is a biggey for me. I love my coffee!

I'll post my weight in the morning!!

My goal is to hit 200. I set it kind of low (low if you've seen the goals I have previoulsy made for myself) because toward the end of this month I will be out of town for a good 2 weeks so I am giving myself a little room for error just in case.

alyssarof2012

Okay, so I'm joining just in time for june to start! :P I'm 16, so my goals may differ a bit.

1. Keep the living room clean, because a clean living space is a clear mind. (IMO) It helps me be relaxed and think clearly when I'm not surrounded by clutter.
2. Track my food daily.
3. Eat healthy 98% of the time!
4. Lose 5-10 lbs.
5. Drink at least 4 cups of water a day.
6. No soda all month.

eryn s
05-31-2010, 08:36 PM
I've given myself a maximum of 8 weeks to lose 20lbs, so by the end of June I want to be at least 10lbs down.

I'm going to have to be super strict with my calorie counting, I'm aiming for an average of 1200 cals/day.
I've been really overdoing it on stodgy carby food recently so I want to increase the amount of fruit and vegetables I'm eating and also try to get more protein in my diet.
I would also really like to work on my binge eating this month, it's not a huge problem at the moment but I'm really worried it could become one so I want to nip it in the bud!

Hey all! Welcome to all who have joined us for yet another monthly challenge!! I'm looking forward to June, though it will be absolutely FILLED with food challenges. It starts this weekend with a camping trip, then having the kids home once school is out after this week. The big one, however, is the Alaskan cruise and related trip DH and I taking from the 21st-30th. I hope to continue making the good choices I've been making the last several days and see my weight fall into place and that I'll be so encouraged I won't want to mess it up. I guess we'll see, won't we!

Alrighty, happy June everyone! The month has started out pretty well here. I'm COMPLETELY exhausted from gardening yesterday for 7-8 hours. I'm taking it very easy today until this afternoon when I go for a short run and then play softball tonight if the weather cooperates. They're saying we may get some storms here which would be okay so my plants would get watered nicely! :)
I've had my vitamin, a healthy breakfast (homemade raisin bran muffins, apple and milk), and plenty of water. I'm still sore from yesterday, but that's understandable. I'm gonna pop an Aleve here in a sec and fold some laundry. Exciting stuff!

urockmom-Great to "see" you!!! I'm sure you'd prefer it be under different circumstances. How long were you able to maintain? I'm in limbo btw losing and maitenance. I'd like this to be the month I reach my goal and hold on, but it's vacation month, so I'm not going to stress over it.

VickieLou-This can be a fresh new start! Check in more on this or another 3FC thread to keep your focus and get the encouragement to make good choices. We're here for ya! ;)

I'm planning meals for the rest of the week and our camping trip this weekend. I don't want to be super restrictive on the trip because the kids are dying for s'mores around the campfire (Heck, so am I!), so I'm shooting for a good balance. Some treats, but mainly healthy meals: Grilling turkey brats, fruit and healthy homemade muffins for breakfast, nuts and yogurt for snacks, and then making good choices when we eat out. I'll be doing my triathlon Sunday, so I'll be eating out (some low-fat pasta dish) the night before and the event itself should burn some good cals. All in all, I think I'm prepared.

Hey all! I will be at the zoo with my kids tomorrow (school fieldtrip), so I won't have time to post until night. Just wanted you all to know I'm so excited by all the ladies returning from previous challenges and I'm loving seeing all the newbies too!!!

We are absolutely gonna ROCK June and feel amazing for it! I'm sure tomorrow will throw me some challenges since I'm eating the lunch the school is providing and the girls will want every junky snack the zoo is selling, but I'll probably bring some healthy snacks to be prepared. I would guess the lunch will be a typical bag lunch with sandwich, chips and milk. That wouldn't be so bad. I could skip the chips if they're junk (sometimes they have decent varieties). Have a happy, healthy day!

MsP - the best thing about the zoo trip is that I assume you'll be spending a lot of time walking around - great excercise. I need to renew my zoo pass so I can get in some excercise there!

Okay, here I am. I'm starting with my June 1 weigh in of 172.4 and I'm shooting for a ten pound loss to put me at 162.4.

I'm going on a camping/float trip (that's a canoe trip to those of you not in the midwest) this weekend, with lots of people contributing food. Dangerous. I'll do my best, but I've been sucking at sticking with my resolve for this lately. Don't know what's wrong. Hope with TOM leaving I'll ditch that stupid three pounds that camped out for the last two weeks of May.

Let's hear it for inspiration and motivation. Hut hut hike, chicklets!

I'm starting out with fruit again..... *sigh*

I was going to go to WW and weigh yesterday but didnt' get to, which is jsut as well, cause I've got to cancel my membership--going on a financial diet too.
So, I'll be depending on 3fatchicks for my 'meetings' ;)

My scales here at home are about 3 lbs different than my weigh ins at WW.

My weight this morning is 196.5. I changed my ticker.

Yesterday was good. I stayed just below points and exercised for 20 min, and drank over 64 oz water.

I weighed in today.... up 2 lbs.

I am not upset, yet. I just hope this trend doesn't continue.

Here's to another good day!

Good Morning Everyone!!! :carrot::carrot::carrot:

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I am really looking forward to ROCKIN' it as Ms P says! Looks like you guys have also set challenging goals for yourselves so we are going to have to count on each other to stay on track!

MsP~Good luck at the zoo today. Sounds like you have got all your camping planning well in hand so I am sure that you can handle a one-day'r to the zoo without falling apart. Sorry to be the last to the party, but what distance tri are you doing? I was thinking about doing one last year but now that I have to get my butt back into shape, maybe I could use that as motivation. As for me, I was at maintenance for about a year before those bad habits started to creep back in. Just goes to show that you have to be ever vigilant!!!

MissChief~Great goal on those pushups! Can you really do 60 a day? Did you use some sort of program to build up to that????

Oh 2 be me~We are happy to be your meetings!!! And you don't even have to leave the house! :)

mizb 1978~Water. Water. Water. 2 lbs in one day when you've been OP and drinking is water. Will leave. Stay strong.

Terre~ OMG. Too funny! Had this vision of you out wandering around the yard eating everything. Excellent reminder for me though to get out there and harvest some strawberries for lunch.

Let's have a great OP day ladies! I am thinking of doing a new thing where I journal at least one positive change I make each day to make myself stronger and healthier. Anybody in?

LouisaH
06-02-2010, 11:35 AM
Just a quick one this am. I'm up .6 pounds. I wasn't on plan last night because we had friends in town, but I didn't blow it. I'm frustrated, so I measured myself and have lost some inches. I noticed on the scale that although the weight isn't going down the body fat % is and the skeletal muscle % is going up (these are general trends, I record them but don't give much credence to the daily fluctuations).

urockmom: good to have you here. It's always nice to have more people watching your back and checking in on you! Strawberries, yum. I just had some on my granola. I run a CSA (I don't grow, just work with all the local farmers) and we've been overdosing our members on strawberries--get 'em while you can, I say. Blueberries and cherries are coming on next; I love this time of year!

terre: good for you for a back yard garden--you can't get any fresher and more local than your own back yard.

mizb1978: Your scale must be talking on the phone to my scale. It'll come back down, even sooner if you keep up the OP days.

Oh 2 be me: I've relied completely on the chicklets here on 3FC since I started in January. They've never let me down!

NightAngel: make your own tacos. They can be low cal (comparatively anyway) and satisfying. Use soft corn totillas heated right on your gas burner (low flame, flip them every couple of seconds), put in a half ounce of melty cheese and spoonful of sauteed mushroom, garlic and onions (sauteed in a tiny amount of olive oil--good and good for ya), then put a generous sprinkling of cilantro and maybe a squeeze of lime juice in. The only thing that could make that better is avocado, if you have room for the calories. DEE-lish!

Have a great day everyone.

Someone brought a whole box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts into the office and I totally resisted them until they were all gone! In fact, it wasn't even that strong an urge to eat one. I looked up the calories on the daily plate and then decided against it. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself! :carrot: Before I would have impulsively eaten one.

wrdfrog- Congrats on resisting those Krispy Kreme donuts.

There's a new little store here in Colorado Springs called Couture Cupcakes where they make all types of exotic cupcakes. I walked into the store a few weeks back to see what they had, and to my surprise one of the flavors was Red Velvet (which is my favorite type of cake). That first day I ended up walking out of the store and going home. And for those few weeks I could not get the thought of those cupcakes out of my head. Yesterday my husband and I went for sushi and then decided to check out the store again. We bought 1 red velvet cupcake and split it in half. I scraped all of the icing off of my half and just ate the cake. It definitely wasn't as good as I had imagined. The sugar made me a little sick. Either way, I wanted it, I craved it, I had it, I managed the calories, and now I'm pretty sure I'll never go back in there. And for being such a patient girl I saw a 1.2lb loss from yesterday :carrot:

06-02-2010, 02:39 PM
Thanks for the congrats, Hopeful8! Also congrats to you too for managing your craving so well and for your loss!!

I know just what you mean. Being mindful about my choices has helped me realize that some of the things I used to crave and eat impulsively were things I could have really done without. I didn't really enjoy whatever it was nearly as much as I would want to in exchange for the calorie debt they would create. The rush to eat it and the guilt I felt afterward distracted me from realizing that I could wait instead and have a higher quality treat once in a while and be more satisfied.

Hi Girls, Sorry I'm late....Was gone all weekend with no internet, then got home to a computer virus:( Hopefully that will get resolved soon. Anyway, I had not had the chance until now to sit down and catch up with the posts.
It looks like everyone is on their way to great things this month!
UrockMom:D So good to hear from you! I know those pounds will melt off you so quickly!

Wrdfrg- Pat yourself on the back! Krispy kremes are made with Pure crack IMO, if I don't start, Im ok. But eating just one is NOT a doable thing!

Hopful8- I think you are on the right track with your red velvet cake approach! Sometimes it is so hard to muster that will power up, So good for you!!!!!

My goals for June are:
1.Log food daily
2.drink 64 oz water or tea

i started out good with a paice of whole wheat toast and cream cheese with coffee for breakfast; yogurt for snack; then lunch hit;

i've been really stressed at work these past two weeks and today is my birthday so i gave in to my emotional eating habits and had mcdonalds for lunch and ate WAY too much. then the co-workers brought cake and ice cream. then my parents came over with pizza and cake. so, i am so sleepy and needless to say, today was not OP.

but i get off of work early tomorrow so i can definitely make it to the park. and i must eat OP and drink lots of water. weigh-in is tomorrow. should be interesting.

Hi guys!

Just a quick check-in this morning as my husband added to my errand list this morning and I have to run and run and run today.....

No weight change for me today but I was OP yesterday and had a huge workout so maybe tomorrow. Does anybody else think that their body has sort of a 2-day response time? Like if your super good on Monday it doesn't show up until Wednesday. Mine seems to work like that.

Anyway, hope everyone has a terrific day!!!! Don't forget to do something to make yourself healthier and stronger. Just like our Krispy Kreme defeater!!!! :strong:

Morning. I weighed this morning, up a lb, but about an hour or so later I weighted again-down 1.5 lbs. Doesn't make sense. That is why I'm going to start weighing in only once a week. Not sure if it is my scales or what.

One of my goals is that I exchange my evening cuppa coffee w/half n half for a cuppa hot green tea. So far, I havent' been able to do this. I work near a starbux. It would not only be healthier for me it would also save me some money. Even if I use my own cup it's still 60 cents, that's $3 a 5 day week, x 52 weeks and that is $156 a yr!! I have my own gr. tea bags, I can take and just get a cuppa hot water.

I can do this!!

Back from my vacation & needing a June challenge. I lost a lot of ground on healthy living while I was away.

My goals:

1) Not smoke cigarettes. (I relapsed and smoked on vacation)

2) Rebuild my running, walking, and biking routine.

3) Weight goal - 130 pounds

I weighed in at 136 this morning, which is a gain of 5 pounds since vacation. I don't have the heart to adjust my ticker at this very moment. But on Monday, I plan to have an official weigh-in and adjust my ticker to reflect my actual weight.

I joined the May challenge, but unfortunately I did not get anywhere in May. I didn't even bother checking back in. Sorry about that, everyone.

June's been a different story so far, and I am determined to be consistent this month. I am going to aim for a ten pound loss. That will bring me to 208 pounds.

I started June at 218, as of this morning I was 215.8! 2.2 pounds down, 7.8 to go!

Well, I've been gone a few months, and there are lots of new faces in this challenge! Ms. P - You rock for keeping this thread going!!

DH and I have had had a rough go at life for the last few months, and I just couldn't put weight loss to the forefront of things. But most of it is settled and it's time to get back in gear!

So Ms.P can you put me down for 5 pounds for June and drink 64 oz of water every day please.

Starting weight is 159.2 this morning. I was down to 155, but my stress eating took over and ice cream has been my friend for the last few months.

So, here's to a great June! My b-day is also July 1 (saw someone else's post!) so, I'm hoping to get some o these pounds off by then! Also, I'm supposed to be running my first 5K in 2 weeks. I'm so not ready. But I will work hard for the next few weeks and do the best I can.

T_T I need help. The scale moved up instead of down this morning (even though I've been on plan), work is being really stressful, and there was a meeting in the conference room that left behind a lot of pastries in the kitchen. So far I've been good. I'm not hungry and I don't even particularly think those things look appetizing, but I'm still thinking about them. I know it's the stress. I need to distract myself!

Ms Perception
06-03-2010, 04:14 PM
wrdfrog-Just say no! You said it yourself. You aren't hungry and they're no that appetizing, so why waste calories on them? You can do it! Be strong! Hope the stress eases soon.

LE-Great job on the portions and choices! I'm impressed. Keep it up, chickie!

Nella-Very good to have you back! Now, hop back on the wagon and get comfy! :)

Scatterheart-Happens to the best of us. Time to regroup and make the most of June, right?

motivaredchickie-Glad to se you're back from vacation and getting back into good ahbits. Vacations sure have a way of making us drop all inhibitions and pick up bad habits, don't they? Well, I know you can get right back at it. Here we go!

urockmom-Not always, but there are definitely times when the bod is on a delay. I'm not sure why that is, but it can be a good motivator to keep at it since you get the positive reinforcement at irregular intervals. It keeps you hanging in there to see the next nice drop on the scale! LOL

I'll add the new list people in a bit. Time to go get the kiddies from school. :D

Good afternoon ladies. I just got back from the gym and had another wonderful workout. Right now I'm teetering on the edge of getting into the next decade (150's) and I'm just so ready for it. The 160's weren't nearly as bad as the 170's so I'm hoping the 150's will fly by even faster. I bought clothes at a regular store! shocking, but true. I spend the first half of the day hanging around the other stores, but everything was too big. In the end I bought a t-shirt size L, which doesn't really fit, but will fit soon. (it would fit if I wasn't so self-conscious about skin hanging around me, I'm a melted candle)

TOM has knocked me up a full pound during the last couple days and I expect to see at least another pound add on, BUT I am counting on that disappearing as TOM ends as I have been doing much better with food. Second degree sunburn with blisters has slowed up the exercise piece as my blisters quadrupled in size yesterday when I went for a brisk walk (sweat adds to them I guess)... so I will have to wait until my skin soaks up the blisters before jumping back into exercise. Hopefully starting the C25K challenge on Sunday, may postpone to Monday, depends on blisters!!! TGIF!!!

:carrot: to everyone who stayed OP yesterday and resisted temptation!

Quillie - Yay for the "regular" store!

Mom24 - Good luck in your 5k! I have one in 2 weeks, I am so not ready for.

Kim - I'm sorry about the sunburn! It's hard to put on a sports bra with one, trust me, I know!

Ms.P - Glad to be back. It's been a rough few months, and I really need the positive vibes from this place again.

As for me, I got the ole Spark People tracker going again yesterday. I was doing ok, but the after dinner munchies hit. I made a PB&J sandwich instead of eating ice cream, but I'm sure that's not much better, if not worse, lol. I did go to the gym though and ran a mile, walked a mile and then did some weights. The scale was down 1.2 this morning, so I would say that's a pretty darn good start!

Hey all! Just a quick pop in to say I will be headin' out of "Dodge" this weekend. Just know I'm thinking of you all and hoping you all treat yourselves right. I know weekends are tough. I'll be eating out myself a couple times since we'll be tent camping. That's where I get into trouble (eating out). Here's to good choices and happy times!
I'll look forward to catching up when we get back!

Damn it I'm so frustrated. For 3 days now I've been expecting to see 159.something on my scale, but instead I'm still hovering around 160. I'm completely OP (always am), I'm religious in my workouts, and I always drink the right amount of water. I'm so frustrated with how slowly it's coming off.

Nella: good to see you back here. Hope the rough times are behind you and smooth weight loss is ahead.

MsP: I'm camping this weekend too, and a float trip (canoe), so I'm a little concerned, but I'm trying to prep lots of healthy stuff. The only problem I should have is too much healthy stuff. Calories are calories in the end and I need to limit myself.

Hopeful8: I hear ya. My scale and I aren't on speaking terms right now. I reached 172 on May 20th, and after a couple of weeks of fluctuations, I am back at 172. I haven't been as strict about weighing and measuring everything, and it seems to be biting me in the butt. Grrr. But I've got my fingers crossed that we'll both be dropping some pounds soon!

Everyone keep up the good work, and don't let those little frustrations wear you down. You're the boss. Have a great weekend! I'll miss my scale when I'm camping this weekend, even though I hate its guts right now!

Hey all! I'm back from my camping trip and feeling good about completing my triathlon in a satisfactory time. I'm up a few pounds, but it's no worry since I ate out and indulged in some dessert yesterday on the way home. Today has been 100% OP and all around good.
It's so nice to have the kids off school for the summer. We all slept in today and just relaxed! I finished a book and did some laundry...nothing real high energy. I'm enjoying this rest day before the serious running starts. ;)

bama girl-Yay for the scale movement!!

Good afternoon ladies. I figured I would get my daily check-in taken care of while I'm waiting for all of my gym clothes to get out of the dryer. I hope everyone is having a fantastic start to the week. This morning I weighed in at 158.0 which puts me 1 little pound away from a total loss of 50lbs, and a total of 3.4lbs lost for the June Weight-loss Challenge. So I'm really excited about that.

Yesterday at work I found out that I'm going to be traveling to California for business on or around the 22nd and my stay will be for about a week. This is the first time that I'm going to be getting away from my normal routine since my journey has started, so I'm a little nervous. I have no idea what the gym accommodations will be like so I'll be taking my laptop with all my Jillian Michaels workouts and few other DVD's to at least keep my activity level somewhat normal. I'm also a little nervous about eating while I'm away. I became a vegetarian about a month ago and the conversion has been great. But I'm afraid that since I'll be away from my kitchen and my routine that I may not get all of my vitamins and minerals.

Anyway, my dryer is beeping so I'm gonna hop in my workout clothes and head to the gym. Hope everyone has a wonderful day

Hi girls, Happy Monday!
I was helping at a craft show all weekend, so had no internet connection. I did well around all the naughty fair food, but we did have a steak bbq at our friends sat night. I think all in all I maintained which was pretty good considering all the food sights and smells I was up against. I even did a couple of rounds of walking the fair to get some activity in.
Hopeful8- You shouldn't have any trouble finding some healthy food options in California, even vegetarian stuff. Most places have a whole section on the menu dedicated to you. Great idea with the laptop/dvd!

MsP- Ok we want the dish on the triathalon. Did you have fun? Will you be doing it again? Do you have any pics?

Bamagirl- Ill bet it is the water that helped you get the scale moving again. Congrats, that always feels so good.

I haven't checked in yet this month, I usually weigh myself everyday but after a few weeks without my scales and with lots of food I've been kind of scared to get on them. But I weighed myself for the first time in ages today because I've been fairly good this past week and I've lost 3.75 lbs! It's not an entirely accurate representation of the weight I've lost I'll admit- I used different scales and the second time I weighed myself on an empty stomach, nevertheless I'm still really pleased!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! We were busy, busy, busy!!! Not much in the way of "true" exercising, but 2 nights of hard work in the yard! The grass hadn't been cut in a few weeks and it took me 2 nights to finish it because it was so overgrown :dizzy: Then I planted a tree, that took some serious effort.

Eating has been ok, not great. I tracked my cals for a few days, then we went out of town and I forgot to log my foods. So, back to it. My water intake has gone up, but mostly because I've been sweating it out, lol.

TOM should be showing up any second now, so that's not helping me make good food choices. Did someone say "chocolate??" lol

LouisaH
06-08-2010, 11:59 AM
Nella: I said DARK chocolate.

MsP: Congrats on the Tri! My weekend was tons of fun, tons of booze and tons of food. None of those things were in the kind of excess I used to indulge in, except maybe the fun, so rather than seeing a gain on my return (I didn't even bother trying to track food), I was down 1.8 pounds from my Sat. morning weigh in. I'm still waiting to get to 169.4, or whatever the magic number is that will put me in the "normal" BMI range that I was so close to hitting two and a half weeks ago, and haven't been able to change my ticker to reflect reality, lol.

I'll try to get to more personals tonight. I gotta crisis at work to go deal with. Sounds like you chicklets are all kickin' some June bootie! Keep it up, you're inspiring me!

Ms Perception

Nella-I here ya loud and clear on the pre-TOM cravings. It hasn't hit yet, but it's probably right around the corner.

LouisaH-Isn't it nice when you're off plan, but can reflect and think to yourself, 'At least it's not nearly as much as I used to eat.'? It's some consolation to know we're making progress, ya know?

Today is DS's half birthday. I almost forgot about it and then yesterday I remembered. I know, I know....who celebrates half birthdays? Well, we do...and so we're going out to his fave place tonight for supper. It's the local pizza (and lots of other yummy stuff) buffet I've mentioned before (because that's where I commit 80% of my food sins!). LOL Anyway, I've gotten rid of most of my weekend excess only to thrown myself into more temptation. WOW! I am crazy!!! The idea on half birthdays is to let the 1/2 b-day person choose the meals for the day and treat them extra special. The kids sometimes get 1 present (if any). They just love the special treatment. So today I have made homemade buttermilk waffles for breakfast (I ate Kashi GoLean and an orange), Blue mac and cheese with a hot dog octopus for lunch (I had leftover stir fry and brown rice), and then supper I already mentioned. DS is in heaven! He loves this kind of stuff. It means WAY more to him than any gift. I've gotten lots of  today which makes me feel super :D! Hope everyone is enjoying a rewarding day as well!

Hopeful8: California is like Mecca for healthy food if you seek it out! You'll do fine, and bringing your exercise dvds is a great idea.

Onestar: are you feeling better yet? Too bad loss of appetite doesn't come without having to feel like crapola too, huh?

susiemartin: I hear that if you're standing up while you're sampling your cooking, there are no calories. (or was it that there are twice the calories? Hmmm.)

Mystical: welcome back! Congratulations for maintaining during your time away from here. Glad to hear the trip back to retrieve your stuff went well and that you're getting settled. People seem to come and go here, but there are always a few familiar friends, and plenty of new cheerleaders to help welcome you back in.

MsP: It's true. I do feel much better about how I eat even when I over do it. I was talking with my co-workers (who are all family) about what food snobs we've become. With the CSA biz we're in, we have a hard time eating any store bought or processed foods, and just can't bring ourselves to eat anything but "happy meat" (as we call it). So that makes the urge to binge on crap really easy to overcome. On the other hand, it's a pain in the butt many times too. I am repulsed by the thought of fast food and chain restaurants--although I understand Chipotle typically uses local, happy meat and real food, and if I think about what I'm probably eating in a place that doesn't say where it comes from, I kind of ruin it for myself. It makes me feel high maintenance...ew. The half birthday celebration sounds like it's as much for for you as for the kids--awesome!

NightAngel:Hopefully that WiiFit will become your new addiction, and I think you're right; I've never heard of people going to ChuckE Cheese for the pizza, it's always for the kid's party. You'll work that pizza off in no time with your new toy!

Two more busy days coming up with difficulty trying to eat low cal on plan. If there were more time to prep them at work, I could eat endless fresh veggies...those blasted nut butters and homemade preserves on tortillas sure are fast and delicious, dang it! Have a good Wednesday everyone.

Hey ladies! How's everyone doing today? Sounds like those who are reporting in have good news!
Last night's meal out did minimal damage since I came home and did a 70 min workout to balance the cals I took in. Today has been a wonderfully OP day and I feel satisfied with my progress this month. While not ideal, I'm not allowing one off plan meal turn into anything more than that. I knew this month would have it's off plan meals, more so at the end of the month (during vacation), but I wanted to be in control and not let food become the enemy. I feel great right now and don't want to mess up this feeling of being in the "zone". This next week is my week to get to my weight goal. I know I can do it!

mystical-Oh my goodness! It's SO good to hear from you!! I'm glad things are settling back down for you and that you maintained during your absence. I'll add you to the goal list and you be sure to keep us posted on your progress!

LouisaH-You food snob! LOL I wish I could be more of one. I am a little, but only with certain things.

onestar-I hope you're able to find a balance with work and family that still makes sure the bills get paid. That's a tough situation, but I know you'll make a good decision. You've started that habit with your health and I know it'll carry over to the rest of your life! Take good care of you; stress is horrible for weight loss!

NightAngel-Have you tried out your Wii yet? Let us know what you think.

susiemartin-Great job ignoring the cravings and their evil little voice that beckons us all to the calorie loaded junk. The more you ignore it, the quieter their voice gets. You'd think we'd learn to just keep saying "no", but I know I'm still learning! LOL

bama girl-That's so rewarding to see the scale is moving again, isn't it?! Way to keep on doing the work....it always pays off!

ap90-Nice job getting rid of the weekend weight, now moving on to those last few "obese" pounds. You got this!

Mellabella-You're making good progress! Keep it up and you'll easily make your monthly weight goal. How's the tracking coming? and the water?

motivated chickie-Woo Hoo on the 120's...just because you won't celebrate doesn't mean I can't for you!! LOL That's exciting! I can't wait to get there, but I'm taking the long and winding road. ;) Also good job kissing the vacation weight good bye!

Hey ladies! How's everyone doing today?

I'm having a bit of a hard time. We're on vacation visiting family right now, and it's all about eating out. I can feel that I've gained a few pounds, but I don't know how much because I don't have a scale that will give me an accurate weight. The only scale around is the old spring scale which is very inaccurate. I'm at the point where I'm going to just buy myself a digital scale so that I can get back on track. That probably sounds silly, but weighing on a regular basis really helps me to stay on track.

My weekly weigh in is on Saturday so I will let you know how well I do with my first week back "nervous" Things are going well with my eating and the entire family made it to the gym last night, so glad to have DH, and both my sons joining in with us... It makes it so much more fun to have everyone there. I only managed to do 20 min on the treadmill and 15 min strength training before I started getting sick at my stomach.. Oh well guess that means my body is going to have to get use to the workouts all over again. Slow and steady wins the race right. Have a wonderful night everyone :)

Check-In time. Yesterday I decided not to work out and instead I did some landscaping around the house for a few hours. I had a real craving for pizza so me and the hubby went out and I got two huge slices of cheese pizza and then topped it off with some soft serve ice cream. I loved every minute of it and completely enjoyed my meal. It was only the 3rd time that I went off plan since November and I didn't feel guilty at all. I sat at the restaurant and enjoyed every last bite of my pizza.

Today was a wonderful day. Up at 8:30am to hit the gym for a 163 minute kick *** workout, then came home and got ready and went to the zoo and walked around for 3 hours. It was a beautiful Colorado day!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day ♥

Just checking in, I am staying on track but have been busy as a bee. I am horsey sitting this week so most of my workouts are at a friends barn. that is some serious working out. I have been logging my meals, and drinking water, so hopeing for a loss this week. take care everyone

I have been away for a while. I am back. I had major surgery a few months ago and am still recovering, so my workout and eating plan has suffered quite a bit, and gained back my weight. Summer starts in a little over a week (I think) so I will kick it up for summer.

Hey all! Been busy here today preparing for DS's sleepover. He's having 4 friends over for an end-of-the-school-year party. It's mostly a way to help him develop these new friendships and partly so DH and I can meet (or get to know better) his new friends. In a way, I dread these things because you don't know how some 10 y/o boys will be, especially overnight. But I'm sure it'll go well and they'll all have fun. We've planned fun stuff to do and made yummy snacks. That should keep them happy!

onestar-Great job on getting below your start weight!

Hopeful8-Sounds great enjoying the night with DH and savoring the treat!

LE-IMO any and all farm work is definitely a workout! I bet your burning incredible cals. Are you weighing weekly now?

ap90-That last pound will probably be off by tomorrow. Keep up the good work!

Dali234-Well, it's good to have you with us. You've made the step from "wanting to" to actually doing it! That's progress for sure!

Check In Time :)
I'm late with my check in due to busy day.
Today has been 100% OP - yesterday was too.

Actually yesterday was a "white knuckle" OP day. It was all I could do to stay out of the kitchen

I'm anxious to get to below 240lb.

I gained so much weight this past winter that I still have a hard time accepting that I'm way heavier this summer than last summer. I want "instant weight loss".
Oh well......................

See you all tomorrow :D

susiemartin- I get that, wanting it to go away now!! like right now.... yeah I didn't do so well these last 2 months and gained some back so no onederland for my birthday.... far from it! Good luck, and may the lbs drop fast! :dizzy:

Ms Perception- woo.... yummy snacks huh? can you handle it? lol... casue here it's like pizza bites and ice cream!!

Dali234- I'm not sure but I think they make you update things over time or they take em out?!? maybe....

LewisEmpire- sounds like a busy and op time... Congrats!

onestar- hey, gaining ground is always good!

Hopeful8- wow.... that's a lotta workout.... but I bet it's worth it!

MiniChick- I get ya about weighing in regularly...I was obsessing about it a while back, but daily gives a sort of confirmation of progress and change.

I'm OP today... but my TOM is just around the corner, so I'll be lucky if I can even keep my ground...forget losing anything.

I'm having major issues with my willpower about eating so I will be trying to eat those frozen diet meals from the store for a bit most of the time so I don't just keep reaching for more dinner or whatever I made at lunch. It's a long shot but worth a try.

I am however getting into the groove of exercising again, and making 30+ min a day most days...woo!

Now I just have to unbury half my equipment!

Good morning all! Well, so far I've survived the 5 10 year old boys here. They go home in another hour or 2 and I can get on with my very exciting (not!) day.

NightAngel-Well, I didn't completely stay away from the snacks, but I kept it under control. I had room in my cals to have a bit of the yummy stuff. Since the boys came after supper time, we just gave them cheese and crackers at first, then later they had those "dirt" cups. Ya know, the oreo and pudding dessert that looks like dirt. Anyway, this morning I made them homemade caramel rolls. They loved it all and I definitely enjoyed my portion too! Oh...good luck unearthing your exercise equipment!

susiemartin-I believe you've coined a phrase. The "white knuckle OP day" is a day I'm familiar with, beleve me!! I'm so proud of you for making it through and having another successful day. It is annoying that the pounds don't fly off faster, but they are coming off, so I guess we just have to rejoice in the little victories!

I set a very modest goal for June. Lose the weight I gained during vacation & lose an additional pound.

I've accomplished my goal of losing the vacation gain. And I lost two additional pounds. I guess most of the vacation gain was water weight.

Woo hoo :)

Since it's so early in June. I think I need a new goal.

I think 2 pounds is doable in 2.5 weeks as long as I stay on plan.

Argh, just lost my post! Here's the short, pissed off version:

The scales are still on my last nerve, bobbing up and down regardless of my hard work. I'm exhausted from a week of being short-staffed at work (people on vacation, and very long, tiring days) and hope my energy will return so I can exercise later. I'm feeling discouraged, with no progress in three weeks, and need to see some movement in the right direction to get my motivation back. I need to stop focusing on the numbers, but it's not like the fat is melting off but the weight is staying the same, so I know I need to kick it in gear. Maybe it's time to change something up. Any suggestions?

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Saturday.

I went to a beer festival last night, intending to stay for the brewers' happy hour and leave before the public session started. I was going to come home and exercise since I hadn't earlier, and needed to work off some of those calories I was consuming. You'll NEVER guess what happened. I stayed and drank beer. I knew you wouldn't have guessed.

So here I am stuck above 170 pounds and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Anyone have any ideas? Someone better get out the big hammer to crack through this thick skull. I need a serious talking to--where's the drill sergeant?

Today, I'm going to exercise twice (I'm telling myself...one down, one to go) and eat super healthy and light (I already ate some mixed nuts, but that's not bad. It's just that I could eat that many again, at least once more today. But I won't). Fruits and veggies only for the rest of the day. Thank goodness I have a good supply.

I hope you're all in better control than I am. Someone sprinkle me some will power dust because I am having serious problems this past month. I thought June would be better, but it just keeps going! Aachh!

'Morning, ya'll! Happy Monday! I hope the weekend didn't do too many of us in. I know I ate slightly more than my alloted calories both days with being at a potluck one day and at my parents' the other. Otherwise, I was mostly OP and my weight just fluctuated about half a pound. This is a nice fresh week to enjoy healthy choices and smaller numbers on the scale (I hope!). I am going to get some extra fiber and water today and flush out the extra cals from the weekend. Happy OP day, everyone!

NightAngel-How's that Wii injury? Hope you're recovered and back to hula hooping in no time! Excellent job going for the salad at McD's. Did you get light ranch? The regular is a calorie/fat nightmare (but sure is tasty). About the binge...it happens, just get right back on track and don't let it sidetrack you!

susiemartin-You're pluggin away and doing great. I had a similar fluctuation after the potluck yesterday and just figured it'll come off today for sure and I'm not gonna worry about it. It's the stuff we do 90% of the time that dictates our success.

eclipse-You're on a good pace to make goal. I know the slow pace can be annoying, but at least you're losing! I wish I could take 3 steps forward WITHOUT taking 2 steps back, but I allow myself a few too many indulgences. ;)

onestar-Here's hoping for a new number on the scale! I can be frustrating to see the same number over and over when we really want to see it go DOWN! Make sure you're eating enough, though. I know the heat can knock our appetites right out, but it's important to still get our calories in. Good job on the workout!

LouisaH-You asked for it... :drill: It's time to get your butt in gear! You know what you should be eating. Don't let the stress and "convenient" foods sidetrack you from feeding your body properly! :club: Don't make me come over there! I'm sure, if you're logging your food, you can take an honest look at what you've been eating lately and find areas that are in need of improvement. If neccessary, you can also see if your exercise routine is challenging enough for you and how you could improve that as well. Now on a lighter note: Have some :dust: and take some for the road...:dust: and have a great day!

girlieyorkie-Nice progress!

Thanks MsP! I know exactly what I'm doing wrong. I'm not saying no to the things that I know are my "hotspots"--you know the things that make you want more and more and can never satisfy you. For some people that's potato chips, but I could go the rest of my life without one and never miss them. Another thing I'm doing is not eating lean enough meats--I've had more sausage in the past month than I have in the past four months. And I'm being lax about figuring out calories before I start eating and saying no if I've reached my limit. So thanks for the talking to! I'm feeling like I'm back on track now, and I'm going to try to do more circuit training and boost my metabolism. I am going to look back at my OP days to see where and how I was getting my calories and try to start eating like that again. Although my food is dictated by seasonal eating, so that might be kinda moot. With the abundance of good produce in my life right now, it should be easy.

knobhdy: awesome for you, can I borrow whatever comes off for the rest of the month? I've only lost 2.4 of my 10 for this month.

susiemartin: you are doing great!

onestar: you'll see a drop soon. I sometimes see my weight stabilize just before a drop down. Eat a nice cold fruit and milk smoothie, maybe with a tablespoon of nut butter to get your calories in when it's too hot to cook and you don't have much of an appetite!

NightAngel: MsP gave me quite a bit of will power dust, and I'm happy to share if you want to use a little to get you through TOM.:dust:

eclipse: congratulations on the halfway mile marker!

Today the scale said 170 (again). Actually, this is as close to that previously seen but ever elusive 169.8 I've been, and this is the last of the 170s for me. I am done with them. The love affair is over. I guess I just wasn't ready to done being overweight. I am entering the "normal" weight range for my height in .7 pounds and there's no looking back. lol

However, my goals for the month fell by the wayside around mile marker 300. Getting back on top of it this week. Thanks for the willpower dust I'll need it.

Well, over night I gained up to 232...and I'm guessing that's my real TOM gain because it was so instantaneous....eh... ok fine...as long as it leaves.

I'm still having fun...or not fun with my wii fit, and honestly I just have really bad balance...I just rank out of all the balance games...but hey in truth I'm there for fun cardio stuff anyway. Hula hooping queen I am, and getting better at bicycling and kung fu. :carrot:

I'm managing a half hour on the wii every day so far, and sometimes even some time on my bikes.

Knobhdy-Congrats! You keep going woman. You'll definitely get another few pounds gone by month's end!

LouisaH-Glad to have helped! I know you eat what's in season, but you know it's still all about choices. You were able to idenitfy a couple things to change and that'll make a big difference. Now leave those 170's in the dust! No more being overweight for you!

NightAngel-Glad you're still making good use of your Wii. It's an excellent way to be active at home. Now, let's get rid of that TOM weight and move on to better things!

dangerouscurves-My fingers are crossed for ya!

ap90-Good plan! Add something to your workout or adjust calories and see what happens...let us know.

goodnuff-It's hard to make it to a WW mtg while on vacation, but it's good that you're getting right back to it. Sometimes vacations throw us some real "curve balls" in terms of food. Sounds like you handled it well, so great job!

I was able to get to the pool tonight before my small group met, so I worked off the extra cals I took in "sampling" my cookies I baked for the kids this afternoon. Dang it! I just have to learn to say no to my own baking! I gave the kids some after summer school then gave the rest away to a friend, so now I can't make that mistake again tomorrow. Otherwise, had a good day.

Another OP day yesterday

Ms. P - I know just what you mean about sampling your own baking.
I bake for a farm stand & farmer's market. Sometimes it's really hard - white flour & sugar stuff just calls my name  For me it's best to not even get started. Once I start eating that stuff I won't stop....for at least 4 months to a year!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Ladies,
I am back from the Lake (no internet there), My eating was not horrendous, and I surely burnt it all of swimming, diving, skiing. I feel like an abused rag doll. LOL can't wait to head back on Thursday.
So last night, I came up with a new (old) strategy to try at least while I am not at the lake. I am plannng/writing my whole day out the night before. NO room for feeling hungry, and no running out of calories at the end. It has worked for me before. I just needed to sit and write it out. I also found a local organization that gives free exercise classes like Zumba, pilates, line dancing, water aerobics! I am so excited for some change, and some people to work out with ( NO offense to my dog) So as soon as I can move without whimpering agaIn I am gonna go for a class.

SusieMartin- I hear you with the sugar/white flour. My Mom has always told me that white sugar is refined just like cocaine.....I don't know if she is right but it sure feels that way when I eat it! Stay strong... and OP today!

NikiRini-:welcome: Good luck with your goals! This is a wonderful group of ladies here!

Nightangel-Ugh, I hate the overnight weight crud! It can be so disheartening!
Dangerouscurves- :goodluck: Have a great week!
Ap90- Keep hanging in there, maybe you will have a big whoosh come along! That would be awesome!
Msp- You got this thing Dialed in!!! they made cookies at the lake this weekend, and i really had to struggle not to eat them, and not to mention the dough! You should be SUPER proud of yourself and your willpower! You go girl!
Goodnuff-Glad you had fun on your road trip! Sounds like you did pretty well considering how hard it is to diet on the road. Good for you!
Knobhdy CONGRATS! It must feel FANTASTIC! Keep on trucking!!:D

Good morning all! I'm looking forward to a 100% OP day today after several weak attempts. I've been indulging in sweets that have held me steady or popped me up a few tenths on the scale. It's time to reign that in and be serious. My vacation is in less than a week and I can't go being all lax about my food intake or I'll come back like a bloated fish.

LE-I hope you recover soon and can take advatage of those classes. That's so cool! And don't be mistaken, I definitely ate some cookies with my kids yesterday which is why I can't come on here and proudly boast about a new lower number on the scale....I'm kicking myself for it, but at least the pool workout kept me from a big gain! I do feel like I've got myself back on track, so I can lose a couple pounds in the next 5 days before we leave for our trip. I'll just keep telling myself to stay away from the evil white powder! LOL

susiemartin-The one thing I have going for me is that, at my worst, I never got off track for more than a half day or so and then I would get OP for a couple days and repeat that cycle. Now, I've got it where it's only off plan for a meal and then right back on plan for several days. Baby steps in the right direction!

Welcome, Nicki Rini!-Best of luck to you and we're thrilled to have you with us! You've set some pretty strong goals, so let's see June become a strong month for you! :)

I finally had a chance to buy a digital scale and weigh myself this morning after 1 1/2 weeks off plan. I must say that I'm relieved. I've only gained about 3 pounds. I was really scared that it would be closer to 5-10 lbs. Also, I just started my cycle, so I'll get a better idea of where my weight is after these first couple of days of bloating have passed.

I have really struggled with eating on plan because I'm on vacation and despite my sincere effort to lose weight, I also want to enjoy the foods from my hometown that I never get to have otherwise. So, I'm trying to balance the two because I'm not willing to miss out on foods that I only get to have while I am here. So, despite my small gain, I'm pleased with where I'm at, and I'm enjoying visiting family and friends in my hometown tremendously.

I have been pretty static in my weight... 136.6 last time I weighed at night and then I was 138.0 literally the next morning, within 8 hours. I was afraid to get on the scale yesterday or today, but if I had to guess I'm probably still the same. Surprise, surprise. The other areas of my challenge have been going very well, though. Still... so frustrating.

Good morning Beautiful ladies!
I am actually up early this am, I am trying to get back into an exercise routine! Just thought I would check in. I have ALL my food planned and written down for the day!
There is a great post by RockinRobin today on weight lose support thread. She is replying to a gal that titled her post "stuck" It was so good I printed it out for my fridge, LOL I hope it works for the other chick it was written for too.
I don't know if I am allowed to share it but here goes.....I'd set up some roadblocks as to NOT slip back into old habits. In fact I'd work real hard on establishing some NEW ones, new HEALTHY ones that is.

Journal your foods - every bite, lick, taste, sip and crumb that goes down your throat. This is a GREAT tool. It will make you AWARE and mindful of what you're eating. It will also keep you FOCUSED. Focus is what's needed. When we lose focus, things start going awry.

Plan out your meals/snacks in ADVANCE. Know ahead of time EXACTLY what you will be eating. Make yourself a plan and stick to that sucker like glue, LIKE GLUE. No veering. You've got that plan in place, now stick to it.

Have the right foods on hand - always. ALWAYS. Get rid of the junk. You can't eat it if it's not there.

Make yourself some rules, set up some boundaries, create some new life laws for you to follow. Definite no's to what you will not touch - no matter what. For instance, no fast food, no chips, pretzels, soda, etc. Take the decision making process away - this way there's no - should I?/ shouldn't I to even contemplate. "Nope, I just don't do that any more. It's no longer an option TO eat like that."

Learn how to tell yourself no. You don't have to have something just because you want it. You're not a spoiled child after all. You must make mature, responsible decisions that have LASTING affects. Stop thinking of your two minute gratification (giving into temptation) and think of your long term satisfaction (living your life at your utmost optimal - at a healthy slim weight). Self discipline is a wonderful thing. It opens up doors and creates a wonderful life. But you must get used to doing so. It won't feel comfortable at first. You MUST get through the initial, temporary discomfort of breaking old habits and establishing new ones. Push yourself. Stretch. Push. Reach. Strive. Grow.

Losing weight and lots of it is a doable thing. It's not some crazy, hare-brained out of this world scheme. You just must DECIDE to do it. Decide to do it, commit to do it (screw the motivation, it comes and goes) and than be WILLING to do what's necessary to MAKE it happen. And rest assured, you CAN make it happen, you can. And you should.

Hold yourself up to a higher standard. Require more from yourself. Push yourself. Conquer something new. Discover who you were meant to be. Transform your life.

You don't have to be overweight if you don't want to. It is within your hands, you have the power to change this.
The Chick that wrote the above has lost quite a bit of weight according to her ticker, and to me it just sounded like what we should all know already, bu I thought it was an excellent reminder! Thanks RockinRobin! You Rock!:bravo: Ok Ladies, I am off to workout!!!!!

Thanks for posting that LE, and thanks to Rockin' Robin for the reminder--it's so true. Especially the "Commit to do it (screw the motivation, it comes and goes)."

Well, I said I was done with the 170s, and I did reach a new low of 169.6 yesterday (a mere .3 pounds from "healthy BMI"), but we went for sushi last night and all that rice is sticking with me. I drank a lot of water, but probably should have kept drinking it to flush it on through. Perhaps I grossly underestimated the cals, but I figured I was still within my range (oops, just thought of one little freebie from the sushi chef that I didn't count--nothing much, but it would put me over). So today, I'm 170.4 and intend for THIS to be the last day of ever seeing the 170s (again, lol).

Busy day, gotta run. Hope everyone is having a great and OP day! p.s. I'm wearing shorts today that I haven't worn since 1994. wahoo!

Ms Perception
06-16-2010, 07:56 PM
LE-That was a great post...thanks for sharing it! I also saved it into my documents to have for myself. Such good reminders!

LouisaH-Good to hear you got those 160's and you'll surely have them again tomorrow. I'm planning to see a nice low # in the morning myself after toying in the 134-135 range for far too long! I've been a good girl, now where's my dang reward!?! LOL Congrats on the shorts, btw!!

bamagirl and ap90-Every little bit counts especially when things aren't moving much! So, way to stick with it and let those little bits add up!!

susiemartin-So good to hear about your loss! You've been making some real changes and taking the "bull by the horns", so I'm thrilled to hear the scale has confirmed your progress!

Had a busy, OP day and I feel hopeful about what I'll see on the scale tomorrow. It's WW day [I'm a Lifetime Member (= a maitainer) there] and I should go to the meeting since I'll be out of town next week and probably won't feel up to going the week after since I'll just be getting home and settled from vacation.
Well, the month's half over and I think we're making some nice progress, ladies. Now, time to stay on course for the remainder and see the official start to summer (6/21) with a lighter, healthier body!

Well, it's official. My BMI is in the normal range, although it feels as if my body is showing the flab more readily as I approach my goal. I remember reading this from other on this forum and thinking "oh shut up, puh-leese!" I expected the scales to burst into a cheer and blow out a little confetti, but maybe that's waiting until I reach my final goal.

LE--did you let RockinRobin know you started a little fan club for her over here? Heh heh.

MsP: Get that WW meeting out of the way so you can not think about it again while you're on vacation (unless that's the motivation to keep you on track!). Hope the scales are feeling generous this morning!

Last year I bought a digital scale. What a God send!

It's so encouraging to see the numbers move by 2/10th's of an pound. It's almost like clock work. Every other day or so the scale moves a little more.

After plugging it into MULTIPLE websites and iPhone apps, I have officially reached an overweight BMI. Before I had just looked at the chart for 5'5" when I'm actually 5'5.5". I never bothered looking at the in-between weight for 5'5 and 5'6 on the chart. So when I plugged my real height into all these websites and apps I showed up as overweight on every single one. At my height you are overweight up to 183 lbs and as of today I am 182.6! I haven't been overweight since grade 8!

Well I have definitely been missing in action for about a week. There's been a lot going on over the past few days. For 3 days I was confined to bed and the ER because of a serious migraine. It completely put me out of commission. I don't know if anyone else on here suffers from migraines but they are absolutely brutal. Then it was DH's b-day so the day was spent at Six Flags and a water park and I'm proud to say that I was strutting my stuff in a brand new bikini that I bought for the occasion.

My eating for DH's b-day was terrible. We went to the Cheesecake factory and I downed a piece of Red Velvet cheesecake (which was absolutely divine), then the following day at Six Flags I had some nachos w/extra cheese and a big ol' pepsi. It was the first time I had a soda in about 10 months. It tasted great and I felt a little guilty afterwards but it's nothing I couldn't overcome. So I got back into the gym on Thursday and back to my normal routine.

I weighed in this morning and I'm down to 156.8, which puts me officially over the 50lb loss point. I really couldn't be happier. When I first started this journey I was restricting myself from everything and I was miserable, but I've now learned that every once in a while it's ok to enjoy something that I'm really craving. I just have to remember that it's a treat and not an everyday indulgence.

I'm going to be traveling to California on business on Wednesday for about a week, so this is going to be a big test for me. But I'm ready to meet this challenge head on and do what needs to be done to stay on plan.

Today is my official weigh-in day for this challenge. I'm not sure if I'm going to meet my 10lb goal for the month, but progress is progress no matter how slowly or quickly it happens. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend

Sw- 161.4
Cw- 156.8

Good afternoon/evening everyone!

I've been runnin' around like a chicken with my head cut off here for a couple days trying to pack for our trip and get the house ready for MIL to come watch the kids while we're gone. Then the kids had a playdate and I went to the store to stock up for MIL, then we had some friends over for supper last night, so it's just been crazy busy, but fun stuff. The scale has done nothing AT ALL. It's been a tad frustrating since I was thinking I'd easily meet my goal for the month, but I'm not gonna stress. I feel incredible and still get compliments on my appearance that confirm that I'm indeed now a healthy, happy weight for my build. Vacation will probably include some indulgences, but I've learned better than to overdo it. I've made that mistake enough to know it feels nasty afterward. :( I plan to come back from vacation feeling like I handled my food choices well and got lots of fun activity! :D
Congrats to those who've moved to a new weight category! Those are awesome milestones on the journey and I'm so proud of everyone for sticking with it even when the scale is stuck for a bit and other challenges get thrown in there too! Continue the fantastic choices, ladies...YOU ROCK!!!!

Hopeful8Glad your head is better! I think I saw your bikini pics in another thread! OMG You look FABULOUS!!!! Congratulations on all your hard work, it really shows.
Ap90 Congrats on your new awesome BMI # That is really great news! I have seen people on here track their BMI on their tickers. I think they use an outside ticker sight, but I can't remember its name. It will probably come to me later today, while driving in the car LOL, maybe someone else can remember before me......:dizzy:
MsPYou poor dear! I need a vacation after just reading your post! I know you will have a great time, and do fine on finding the balance with food and activity! Be safe, and have a blast for all of us! We will hold down the FAT, uh I mean FORT till you return!

As for me today, the scale shows me down a bit, but My official WI is not til Tuesday! Myself and a couple of girlfriends, are starting our dieting for cash on Tuesday also. We decided it is $5/week and the person who loses the most % of body weight gets the pot each week. But if you gain any, you also owe $1 for every pound you gained that week. Money can be such a great motivator! I hope it will make it easier to stay on plan with some added support. Hope you all have a great Fathers Day!

Good morning, everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much in the last month or so. Now that my back is (mostly) healed up, I've had less time for the computer. I've been excercising a lot in my free time and now that we're taking a homeschooling break for the summer, I have less time on line (I used to go online while sitting with my kids who were working on their own projects).

Anyhow, I'm stopping in to say that as of this morning, I have met my June goal of 216 lbs. That also put me down a total of 70 lbs! 16.1 LBs to Onderland!

Hello Chicklets,

I've read, but not had time to post, I haven't done an official check-in for a couple days and it feels like forever!

eclipse: that's fantastic! I'm so proud of you--70 pounds is amazing. You must feel great. It sounds like you'll be getting more activity in for the summer months and that will get you to onederland in no time! Yippee!

LE: Congrats on being down a bit--hopefully by Tuesday you'll be down even more. The money challenge sounds great--you can motivate yourself to will by planning what you'll buy with the cash when you save it all up!

susiemartin: doesn't it feel like a dreamworld when the weight just keeps flying off? Yay for you!

MsP: isn't it crazy how we overload our time schedules even when we know it's going to make us stressed? At least it's all fun stuff, so that helps keep it in perspective. Have a great trip, and you can enjoy it more knowing you have the knowledge and willpower to enjoy food without overdoing it, and you have the motivation and strength to do the exercise needed to make up for the indulgences. Awesome.

hopeful8: down 50 pounds! wahoo, that's fantastic. Good luck on your trip--California grows some fantastic produce, so make sure you take advantage of it and you'll do fine. Take some walks and enjoy the scenery. WTG on the bikini!

ap90: I remember the feeling of hitting that overweight BMI, and suddenly feeling like I wasn't on a crash course to major health issues anymore because I was no longer "obese." lol. Good for you!

NightAngel: I remember you talking about bf's lasagna way back when--and how worth it it is to indulge. That was a while back, so it doesn't sound too often to enjoy something you love! I know of the Diva Cup. I remember my sister, nearly 20 years ago talking about it--I don't believe it was called the same thing, but she loved it. I'm surprised it took this long to get to the mainstream, and don't know why I never tried it...let me know how you like it.

My weightloss is finally back on track and being pretty consistent. I'm down to 166.8 today. I went to a wedding reception last night, and did fine on the eating and drinking, and we danced a lot. It's tonight I'm worried about. We're hosting a Turducken Dance Party.:D We've had a turducken in the freezer since Christmas. A chef made them for our CSA members and we wanted to try one, so finally the time has come to try it. We've also had a ton of fun with dance parties and have been wanting to plan another one, so this is the night. Turducken Dance Party! We are going to eat, drink and dance. My goal is to dance off more calories than I eat and drink. I'm going to go exercise right now to make sure I get some cals burned ahead of time. Wish me luck!

Since vacation I have found it hard to get back to maintaining my goals. I haven't been tracking (other than in my head) and I've been only drinking 32-48 oz of water. I've lost 2.8 pound, so 2.2 to go and I believe I have stayed within points, but who knows when I don't track. Rather than giving in to the temptation to quit I am re-committing today to tracking all intake, staying within my points and drinking a 64-110 oz of water/day. If I do that the remaining 2.2 should come off!
To all of those who are doing well, congratulations! And I welcome those who may have fallen off course to re-commit with me!

Morning all - Check In Time :)

Happy 1st day of summer

OP day yesterday - planning for another today.

Lewisempire - Have lots of fun with the "weight loss cash". I've got something similar going with myself for every 10 lbs.

LouisaH - Good luck with your party tonight. Sounds delicious & like lots of fun.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

hello ladies....looks like all is well on this board.

susiemartin- WOOHOOO for OP days. Congrats on the willpower....send me some willpower dust when you get a min !! :carrot:

ap90- it's amazing to hit a new low isin't it? What a rewarding experience. Do you have goal treats for yourself?

Lewisempire- The lake is a great place to burn off some cals, so much more fun I think than the regular grind exercises. congrats! ;)

Hopeful8- omg on the migraines...I don't get them often but my bf and former do/did. It was terrible watching them find no relief in pain medicines and it lasted forever. I'm sorry it's been so bad for you. Do you have a cause of them?
On another note, WOOHOOO for bikini land! hope you had fun and felt fantastic! Good luck on your travels too.

Ms Perception- Hey I get ya with the busy, I had some friends and their kids stay for like 5 days now, and we barbecues, went swimming, caught a movie... just whew! I'm kind of a home body though and I get irritated if I can't have a couple days at home often....so yesterday I refused a fishing trip (not that I fish, it's a swimming place too)...just wanting time to myself. Good luck with MIL... I've never met mine, she lives in Hawaii.

eclipse - :congrat::congrat::congrat::congrat::congrat: Yay for you making goal!!!! where I am now I can't imagine what 70lb loss is like, but it must be amazing! :carrot::goodvibes

LouisaH- Oh yes the lasagna...didn't seem to set me back much...if any. Hard to tell w TOM....

TMI ALERT!!- Diva cup is an interesting thing. I got it in time to try it out a few days. It certainly is different. There's a few brands out there some only foreign. I think for me I need one with a longer stem...can be hard to get out...if it's in correctly it works very well, bit of a struggle at first. Takes getting used to I think. When it's not quite right though I get back and front cramps, and if it's in a while....which I think has to do with suction....makes sense anyway. I think if you don't mind messing around a bit it can be useful, however it is not recommended for people with IUDs, and I decided to not use it when I have to put my nuva-ring in, I figure opposing forces could be tricky.

Nice job doing well at a wedding reception.... what is a turducken? I mean by the name I can guess, but how does that happen?

goodnuff- well, it can be hard once you fall off to get on, but recognizing what you need to do is a great step. We're here for you. :D

Ok, so I'm down a lb now...trying to stay on track and stay exercising. It's going ok. I'm getting in my half hour most of the time. It is not often on my wii though, the guys have been hogging it and I prefer not to have too much of an audience when I do get to play on it....or in exercising in general.

I did buy myself a bike, I figured I'd cover more ground than walking and get more exercise in less time...sorta. Unfortunately my bike was not put together well, we have to adjust it and inflate the tires....so I haven't rode it yet. I'm excited though. :running:

I am mostly on plan, and hope to keep it up. I'm trying to keep a journal of activities and food as well as my online one. I'm a list writer of course....it helps.

Also, if it is nice today I want to swim, it's a great way for me to get my exercise as I spend forever in the water and eat less when I do.

Hey, ladies! Sorry for being so sporadic with checking in. I tried a third healthy recipe this week-- Creamy Artichoke Pasta Salad with a tiny bit of vegan mayo and whole grain pasta. It's tasty. :)

I've also done really well with drinking my water, so yay for that.

I weighed in at 135.2 this morning. Yay! Slowly but surely, I'm losing again. I will probably not get out of the 130s by the end of the month as 5 lbs in 10 days is ridiculous, but I WILL in July!

LouisaH
06-21-2010, 08:23 PM
Hey chicklets,

I did well on eating and drinking at the Turducken Dance Party last night. And we danced hard and had a blast. And the scale was down .4 pounds to 166.4, so I'm guessing I sufficiently burned more calories than I consumed. I was too tired to exercise this morning, but managed to do it this afternoon, so I'm pretty happy.

bama girl: good going on the healthy recipes and getting your water in--slow and steady weight loss is a good thing!

LE: yippee for you! So glad you're seeing those results that do so much to keep us motivated! I bet you can hit onederland by the end of July! How cool would that be?

NightAngel: yay for a bike--I wish I liked riding mine. I don't like riding in city traffic because I don't trust stupid (oblivious) drivers, but just don't ever put the bike on the car to drive somewhere to ride. DH uses the bike as his primary mode of transportation. I wish I was braver...
Yes, TUR(key)DUCK(chick)EN. The birds are deboned and the chicken is wrapped in the duck and the duck is wrapped in the turkey, with other stuffings, prosciutto, and various flavor surprises. I thought it was tender moist and good, but probably not worth the time and effort of the chef and the resulting price, but that's just my opinion. Thanks for the lowdown on the Diva Cup. At this point, I don't think I'd go for it--I'm 43 and seem to be having symptoms of pre-menopause, e.g. I think I'm getting another visit from TOM. He's coming back every three weeks. It's either pre-menopause, or I'm looking so hot he wants to come see me more often.

goodnuff: welcome back to the commitment! Good for you and good luck sticking with it. We're here to help, remember!

MSP: we'll miss you, and look forward to hearing about your vacation.

Have a great week everyone!

Good morning!
Susiemartin, while it is never the best to go off plan, at least it was fresh fruit. I love fresh fruit this time of year too. mmmmm good!

Ap90-congrats on reaching one of your goals!:carrot:

LouisaH- You know I hadn't thought of being to Onederland that quick, but now I am excited Thanks for pointing that out! Glad your dancing Turducken Party was a success! I love to exercise with fun stuff, it makes it so much easier.

Onestar- Welcome back! Hope you can get your exercise Mojo back!

Bamagirl-Yay for drinking your water! :D

Nightangel- Good for you on the pound! We will celebrate every loss!!! you will have fun on your bike, but if it has been a while I would be careful in chosing your route at first. We recenty got a set of bikes, and thought we would cruise the neighborhood, well we have some hills, and let me tell you I was DYING!!!! Now we have a couple of more level routes, and it is a blast, and a great work out.

Hi Everyone!

This is my first "Check-In" since stating my goals for this challenge.

Well, I have been good with 1) eating 1400-1600 calories daily, 2) limiting drinks to water, tea and fruit juice/water, 3) no potato chips and...

I am much closer to goal of 225 lbs. (started out at 237). Weighed today and came in at 228!!! Whoo-hoo!

Good morning to everyone!

Soooo my friend and I went to our first Zumba classyesterday afternoon. I will have to say it was kinda fun even though I am NOT a dancer. I guess i am too old to give a darn if i look silly or not. I am sure it is a heck of a workout, because I sweated like someone was hosing me down. It was definately worth a try if you get the chance, My friend LOVED it too. So it will likely go into our rotation of a weekly class.
I am on plan, but several times last night, i dreamed that i was cheating. I would catch myself eating something like cake. Then I would realize and spit it out and rinse out my mouth. IDK, maybe there is some deep seeded psychological meaning, but at least I am not over my calories for real!!! Now that would be a real nightmare. LOL, Do any of you ever have dreams this crazy?

LouisaH
06-23-2010, 11:28 AM
Mornin', I gotta be quick and get into work, but had to comment...

LE: I have smoking dreams. I quit in 1998, and would catch myself cheating in my dreams. At first my dream self would be so pissed at herself. Then eventually she caught on that it was totally okay to be a smoker in the dream, and now I get to smoke still--in my dreams! Even still, just writing this reminded me that in a very recent dream I told someone I smoke one cigarette a day. It's so weird, but how smart are our psyches to be able to satisfy our desires in non-harmful ways. The food dreams have already started, but my dream self hasn't realized it to rationalize them yet. I can not WAIT until my dream self says, I eat one chocolate covered Bavarian cream filled donut a day. lol!

susiemartin, starchild and bama girl: awesome work, congratulations!

minichick: lots of water, exercise and good eating will take that vacation weight right off and get you back in the game. Hope it was a fun vacation. Now it's time to remember how much fun the weight loss can be--good luck!

I got another visit from TOM again. I would have thought I was too young to be pre-menopausal, at 43, but this is the second one that is three weeks after the first, so something is going on. My weight is up .2 this morning, so I'm guessing it's that, because I've been eating well and exercising (no exercise today since TOM is busy drilling through my back and abdomen right now, and I have a long two days on my feet and am already exhausted). Gotta run, have a great day everyone!

Sorry I've been totally slacking with the checking in...but I've been staying on plan and that is something at least!

My official weight today was 185.2lbs so I don't think I'll make the 170's by next Wednesday but here's hoping! LOL We're joining a new gym this week which will help I'm sure and DH is going to help train me. He's a lean machine!

I bought some new size 14 jeans and shorts last week and they're already getting too big. It seems like this wieght loss journey is so effortless this time compared to previous attempts. Obviously I was ready! My dad has also lost 103 lbs...amazing! He's just eating well and working out. No fixed program for him and he's lost all that since his 60th birthday in February!

All's well and I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the wonderful weather.

Tamara

ps...I came home on June 11 to head out camping and my DH had bought me a new bicycle! So we rode around the campground and such that weekend. I hadn't ridden a bike in about 20 years! How fun!

Aaaand, WHOOSH! Again! 131.2 this morning. I am so excited that I might actually reach goal this month!

SW: 138-ish
CW: 131.2
GW: Out of the 130's!

I cooked another yummy recipe last night. Penne in a sundried tomato "cream" (really silken tofu) sauce. Delish... I can't wait to have leftovers for lunch.

I am still killing the water consumption. It's amazing how good it feels to be well hydrated!

lewisempire, I've reached my monthly goal, so you can "red me" on the list :)

well I'm not making goal this month..as a matter of fact, maybe even no progress. I'm just not good with exercising and having coughing fits...and I can't seem to make them go away. They say it's allergies but nothing is helping. I'll keep in here just to see if I can make progress before the end of the month.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad:

NightAngel: Happy Birthday! Don't let yourself become discouraged. You have not given up, otherwise you wouldn't be here checking in. Keep working on figuring out the solution to your coughing fits and do mild exercise that won't set you off--are you able to walk at a brisk pace? Even a leisurely pace is activity, and will help you continue to maintain, which is what you've been doing this month, as opposed to failing, which is what you are telling yourself you've been doing. Obviously, that attitude makes you feel bad about yourself and is not encouraging, so let it go and give yourself credit for working on it, and continuing your healthy eating habits, which you will need to continue forever anyway. Hang in there, the weight loss will resume, because it's your birthday and you are in control!

bama girl: dang woman, share the wealth! You are rockin' it, what are you doing to make the weight fly off?

I'm at 165.6 today, not likely to make my goal of 10 pounds for the month, which would put me at 162.4, but I'll keep plugging away and see how far I get. Thank goodness it's the weekend, but too bad there are a number of dangerous temptations in my future...

good Morning Ladies!
first off, Congrats to eclipse, and SusieMartin! I have turned you RED:bravo:

LouisaH, Keep on trucking You still have time, and maybe you will get a Whoosh too! I will say a little prayer to the scale Goddesss to be kind!;)

BamaGirl-go, Go, GO, GO, GO!:cheer2:

Nightangel-:bday2you::celebrate::woo: What a great day to celebrate! Let's make it a day of new beginnings, a rebirth of your commitment to getting Healthy. You CAN DO this! We are here to support, encourage, and help you along! DO NOT GIVE UP! LouisaH is totally right! keep moving, it all counts. Have you tried a "Netti Pot" my husband swears by it for his allergies. You can get one inexpensive at Walgreens. He uses it everynight, and has had much improvement in coughing/congestion. Hugs, sweetie!

OK girls, I am headed to the lake for some fun in the sun! I got my sunscreen, my meals planned, and my jetski! oh ok, and my suit! LOL I will be back Sunday evening. I will post the new July Thread Sunday or Monday, so be thinking on your July goals! LouisaH you have got me thinking about Onderland!!!!!!! I am very excited about that!

minichick: lots of water, exercise and good eating will take that vacation weight right off and get you back in the game. Hope it was a fun vacation. Now it's time to remember how much fun the weight loss can be--good luck!

Thank you for the encouragement. I'll be on vacation for about two-ish more weeks! I guess for my goal I should have said, GAIN 8 lbs. instead of lose 8 lbs. :p No worries for me though. Once I get back home, I'll be 100% back on board with what I was doing before I left. I'm getting tired of eating out and feeling so bloated all the time! I'm curious to see how quickly my weight will come back down once I'm home. I'm sure half my weight gain is bloat weight from eating out so much.

Is this where I parked my car? :P

Hiya ladies! Wanted to check in and see if the July thread was up yet. Unfortunately I've gained a little weight back and ready to get back on the wagon. I still see some familiar faces...how have you ladies been?

Hey everyone, Delphi is back, the party can start again! Welcome back--we didn't have any fun without you, so you didn't miss anything. We're still rockin' it and I'm glad you have come back to us! I guess if you gained a little weight back, you weren't walking while your car was parked here, huh? lol.

LE: July was supposed to be when I reach my goal of 149, which I'm thinking is now 145, so I do have to rethink it 'cause that's out of the question. I'll probably just go for another ten pounds, which I don't seem to be reaching, but I think I work harder knowing I'm going for a bigger loss (let's see, how can I psych myself up the most?). Yes, onederland is within your reach...and I can attest to how good it feels, so go for it! I'm jealous--I want to go hang out at the lake for the weekend!

I was at 165.4 this morning, down another .2 pounds. That puts me at 7 so far for the month, so I would need a really good whoosh to make my ten pound goal. bama girl, would you mind breathing my way for a second, please?

My niece's graduation is today, and my brother is grilling up lots of meats, which he's really good at, so I really need to be in control of my will power and pay attention to portion control. He's grilling a bunch of squash from our csa farms too, so hopefully I'll fill up on that. Yum, I'm hungry. Wish me luck! Have a good evening, chicklets.

For some reason my Norton is saying this site is unsafe? Over 34 reported threats from this site. They must of had some problems since I've been away.

Yeah, after my son passed in January, I guess I have just let myself go. Though I did go back to school (and graduated with honors I might add), and currently looking for a job. It has been a very exhausting 4 months and I have gained back 25 pounds. :( I took my course in medical transcription, so I have spent most of those 4 months at my desk and completely off my schedule. So I'm definitely ready to get back to routine and find a better one that I will keep, even when life slaps me around a little bit. :)

Booyah!!! -5.4 pounds last week! So far for June -8.2. I am hoping to hold steady there for the remainder of the month so that it feels real! I am so afraid of gaining and being dissappointed and then giving up. I know I have been making steady improvemnts but I also know I am way stressed this week and eating more than I have been...I'm a sabotager sometimes I guess. It's hard to put into words.
Anyhow, I met my -5 lbs for June but none of my other goals on a consistent basis. 4 days to be 100% and I am going to do it.

Happy Birthday NightAngel!

Hoping we all share in Bama Girl's "whoosh"ing!

June was definitely a one step forward two steps back month for me. I've noticed a definite change in my clothes fitting but in terms of weight I've been in the same few lb range for the month. Hopefully July will be better.

I'm down to 214.6 as of this morning - 6.2 lbs (I think?) this month so far. Hopefully I can eek out a bit more in the next couple of days. I made goal, though, no matter what happens.

Hiya LE...good to see you around here as well. I have 1 prospect that looks really good, so we shall see. And yeah, I've definitely got my head back on straight (or at least as straight as my head will ever get) and ready to get back to living a more healthy lifestyle again. I think I can say with some clarity that I have seen the last of emotional eating marathons. :carrot:

So you can definitely pencil me in for 10 pounds for the July challenge. It is so good to be back and get the support I truly need daily. I miss you gals.
