GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there are two of them today, both are good!!
Whatever it is you desire, do not seek to get it or to have it directly, for that will usually lead only to frustration. Instead, for whatever you desire, seek to cause it and then it will happen. The way to control the results you get is by controlling the causes you create. Once the cause is there, its corresponding effect flows easily, naturally and inevitably into being.
If you let go of a rock, gravity will cause it to fall to the ground. Though you cannot change the law of gravity, you can control whether you hold on to the rock or let it go.
By the same token, though you cannot control which causes bring about which results, you can control which causes you choose to create. And by so doing, you control the results that come from those efforts.
Just as surely as a rock falls to the ground, results flow from your efforts. Choose those efforts wisely and you'll be able to precisely determine the results you get.

WORK TO BE DONE
The fact that there is much work still to be done, many obstacles still to be overcome, is no reason to be dismayed. Because the moments will come, you will fill them with effort and value, and life will grow increasingly richer as a result.
The assumption that effort is something to be avoided is simply not true. Wishing for a life free of challenges is wishing for something you really would not want if you ever got it. Look back at where you've come from and you will understand. You'll see that the times which have brought the most value and richness to your life were the times which demanded the most of you.
Find joy in the challenges, in the efforts, in the living and in the giving. The moments when much is asked of you, are the moments when much is given to you.
What an incredible, priceless opportunity it is to be able to work, to learn, to grow, to accomplish and to drink in all the richness along the way. There is always work to be done and there is indeed no better way for things to be.

Good morning everybody!
Hope you all are ready for another big week! If you’re not, then you’d better go for Plan B! LOL Had a pretty good weekend. Nothing really exciting to report, except that we took advantage of the cool weather and worked l ike crazy out in the yard. My legs are aching like crazy today. We also walked in the neighborhood yesterday. That felt so great. I really wish I could continue doing that with really wonderful regularity. Sigh!
Here’s something I read the other day that I thought would work for a motivation this week. It’s from the weekend Kashi newsletter that I get. Pretty much stuff we’ve all read or heard. But I for one could use a refresher reminder.
What's Stopping You?
One of the most important factors in maintaining a healthy lifestyle is exercise. So why does the thought of exercise make so many people cringe? The answer is that many of the ways people "exercise" are boring and if you have to do it by yourself, you probably won't stick with it. Try these tips below for starting and sticking with your choice of physical activity.
1. Free your mind. Stop thinking of exercise as work or some chore you have to do. Start thinking of exercise as playing or movement. You don't have to go to the gym five days a week to gain the benefits of physical activity. Play Frisbee with your dog, do some gardening, or take time to play more with your kids.
2. Be realistic. Start small with realistic goals (focus on frequency and duration) and you will have a better chance of achieving them. If you have to shorten your routine due to time constraints, then do so. By doing a shorter version you will most likely avoid the feeling of failure you would be likely to experience if you skipped exercising entirely.
3. Try something new. Are you tired of slogging away on an exercise bike or treadmill only to look at your watch and find you've only been going for ten minutes when it feels like an hour? Go surfing, go cross-country skiing, take a tai chi class, go dancing or take a nature hike instead. If it's not fun, you probably won't continue to do it for very long. Make sure you have variety and continue to try new things so you don't get bored.
4. Try something old. All too often I hear people say "I used to play volleyball when I was younger." Substitute the name of any sport you want for volleyball. I've heard them all. It's okay for adults to play too. Don't be afraid to take up one of your favorite pastimes from the good old days.
5. Develop a buddy system. Choose activities you can do with friends. They will provide you with great motivation to stick with it and you will do the same for them. There's nothing like a phone call from a motivated friend to save you from extending your visit to the couch.
My DH has lost about 12 pounds since June. This is a legitimate recording because it was from the doctor’s office. Well, I asked him the other day, how he thought he was losing all this weight. Because he’s not eliminating anything from his diet. Well, he said softball. He’s been playing once a week and running around like crazy during that hour of their game. He’s also not eating as much portion wise. So here’s the thing . . . if he can lose all that weight without even trying, think of what we could lose because we are putting some real effort into limiting our food. So, this shows me how moving our bodies is ESSENTIAL in this journey we are all on.
Okay, friends! Have a great day! Take care.

Good Morning!
I was missing in action last week, in case no one noticed I was gone! ;)
It was a busy week, and when I tried to get caught up on posts, I couldn't. I just gave up. This week will probably be even worse. I am doing ok, staying on plan for the most part, I think I have lost a bit, but nothing official. My hubby is still doing great and it is fun to have someone to help hold you accountable. We went to a church dinner last night, and they served Chinese. We were able to pick our way through the offerings and find a mostly acceptable meal. After the service, they had dessert. We both walked down the line and vicariously enjoyed the desserts, then drank a glass of water! I am sure I would have eaten something if he hadn't decided he was not going to, and he would have eaten something if he hadn't wanted to prove to me he was big and strong! haha!
It has rained so much here, the pool almost overflowed on Saturday. I kind of wished it had, just to see what would happen! Hubby lowered the level though, and he may have to do it again, as it continues to rain. Now another hurricane is heading this way, and will push more rain up towards us. Pretty soon, I am going to need a boat instead of a car!
Hope everyone has a great week! I hope I can get back on here sometime in the next couple days!
Hang in there, just remember the off limit stuff will make you feel bad! Passing it up will make you feel good, and strong! And most of all, YOU DESERVE TO FEEL GOOD AND STRONG! God doesn't make junk...so you are worthy of success.

Monday Morning!
Greetings to all on this new week.
MONET- I noticed you were MIA and wondered what happened. Your back is doing better hopefully. How wonderful to have hubby on board like that.
QUILTER-You seem excited this week! Looking to do some exercise are you? I haven't been exercising this past week, except for one day when I did ab crunches. I am losing well with what I am doing right now but I might get the exercise bug again. It seems to come and go with me for some reason.
DEBELLI- Thank you for sharing with us. Even amidst struggle there is encouragement and lessons learned for all of us. Thanks.
I will check in later to see how everyone is. ciao!

Did I mention that we bought a digital scale? Oh, how much fun to know EXACTLY what you weigh! No more worrying over that shakey needle!
GRACIOUS---I guess I'm just up because I have a 3-day work week this week. We are heading out of town for a few days, and I think I'm getting excited!!! Congrats on losing. You are doing really great!!! I think I REALLY have a problem with this thyroid, because each pound is such a struggle for me. It's sure not as easy as it was even two years ago. I feel like I'm denying myself everything and still the scale doesn't move. (Actually with my new digital scale, I'm in worse shape than I thought!) So that's why, for me, I think the exercise is going to make the difference.
Have a great day.

Good Morning!
Just trying to cool down for a few minutes before I jump in the shower to get ready to go, so I thought I'd get in whatever post I could.
Despite being a bit tired, looking a bit gloomy out there, I pushed myself and got those important 4.5 miles in. Took me 53:05, which surprised me that I did even that well considering I felt like I was going a turtle's pace.
I made it home in one piece after watching my Nieces-they were actually very good, well, at least towards the end, that's when Madison got a hold of crayons and decided she'd rather have pink tiles than white!:fr: My Sister and BIL had a good time though, they went to lunch and to see GREEK WEDDING, which they both liked a lot. I offered to bbsit again sometime in the future.
After my walk/jog this morning, I realized something, even though I knew this before, I just hadn't given it much thought, but since I had my little hiatus from exercising, I've been waking up very hungry and eating very early in the morning. When I exercise I don't get like that at all, it seems the exercise surpresses hunger, which I've posted info about in the past. How quickly we can forget such important things and the good that exercise can do among the obvious.
I have to start to go get ready to go the my Mom's place and work. It's going to be boring and I'm not looking forward to it, but it has to be done nonetheless. I don't even have anything to take with me to eat for lunch, wasn't prepared. Hmmmm, oh yes, I have some plain yogurt that I can stir some fruit in to and take with me.
Oh, can't forget, you gals in TX & LA, praying that you don't get his by Isidore! This is a biggie and we down here in FL know what it's like having this loom over your heads as a possibility of arriving. No matter where it's headed I hope there's some kind of system that will rip it apart before if makes landfall.
I will try to get back on here sometime later on after I get the kids and take Michael to his guitar lesson.
Have a wonderful week everyone!!!

Hi, all! Had to catch up on all the posts since I am not at a computer Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
I am amazed at how different we all are and yet how similarly so many of us respond to food stimulation! Our little discussion late last week about how most of us have a problem with just a taste of something starting us spiraling down was really an eye-opener for me. I've been on SB since 8/1/02 and have really not experienced temptation for sweets yet, feeling like SB really suppresses my appetite for sugar. I just hope that continues. And I'm actually so excited about that that I don't want to "break" the spell by eating something with sugar in it.
Debbie, I am so glad you have returned to the healthy eating that makes you feel good again. You sound like your old self this morning, out exercising and feeling strong again. Yes, you are an inspiration to us all and we are so glad to see you on track again.
For that matter, we all can encourage each other every day. I never dreamed how influential this support group could be to me and I am grateful.
My DH has finally begun losing weight OP. He had a terrible time adjusting to this WOE but really wanted to do it. He had never had to worry about what went into his mouth before. Now that the weight has begun coming off, you ought to hear him spouting off to anyone who will listen about how wonderful the program is! He's so cute about it and I definitely enjoy him doing this for life with me! It really helps.
He is the one who got me started on the microwave thing -- asking y'all if any of you had heard of the dangers of microwave cooking. Well, I got on-line to find out and there are some people out there who really feel like microwaving food actually changes the molecular structure of the food you cook! Yikes! Even if it is not dangerous, if it takes all the nutritional value out of the food it cooks, that's a reason to stop using it. So this gal, who has cooked almost everything by microwave for the last 22 years, has decided to change her cooking habits! Oh, my -- what changes have occurred in my life since 8/1/02! Y'all pray for me!
I didn't lose this week...I think it is the first week since 8/1 that I haven't lost. Can't keep going at the rate I was, I know. So I am not discouraged. But like you, Debbie, I think I will start weighing myself less often. I do feel like a slave to that scale sometimes, and I shouldn't. I feel good on SB, I feel like I am losing...weighing once a month ought to be enough. Right?!
Everyone, have a fabulous week and remember, we are one healthy group of people who have an entirely new way of life as we take it a day at a time, leaning heavily on each other for that encouragement we need...any time of the day or night, we are able to reach out to each other for courage! Wow!

Hello all!
The retreat was great! Even though it was a working weekend for me, it was relaxing just to be in the mountains. I only did ok with food. I was fine for most of the weekend, but breakfast turned out to be a problem for me (all the cooks fixed muffins, waffles and whatnot). I did ok for most of the rest of the meals, but wasn't too good at breakfast.
I did check out the Western NC farmer's market! I came home with a peck and a half of good, fresh mountain apples! They are wonderful. I got some for eating and good tart ones for making applesauce. I'm going to make some with agave and see how it goes. I love homemade apple sauce. They also have a large variety of no sugar added jams and jellies, so I got some SF apple butter and peach and cherry jam. I haven't tasted any of them yet--but will make some toast this morning. Frog is comming this weekend to do my Southern Living at Home party and I thought I'd make Deb's fabulous crustless cheesecake and use the SF cherry as a topping!
I can't even begin to catch up with the board from the end of last week. I glanced over it enough to see that Zach is recovering nicely and is home from the hospital--I know Tranquil is so relieved!
I also see a lot of soul searching--and I think that is good for all of us. Let's face it, there is some stuff out there we need to learn about healthy eating, self-image, and the difference between physical and emotional hunger. So the struggles are part of the process--if we are struggling it means we are still learing. That's actually a good thing--even though it is very hard.
I did get to see the Auburn game on Thursday night--War Eagle! And I also saw the NC State-Texas Tech game on Saturday. State blew a 24 point lead in the 2nd half--but came back to win it in overtime. Sheesh--I'll take a W any way I can get it.
We also saw some of the UT-UF game Sat night--I knew Gator was blowing smoke--but BOB your guys were just out played! Sorry--I was rooting for the Big orange.
Got to work now--today is the first day of my leave from the church--I feel like I might actually be able to get my campaign work done today!

Hi All:
Monet – WOW that is a lot of rain you are getting…:rain:it has been wet here as well – must have poured last night because everything was drenched outside when I was leaving for work. Hopefully you won’t get any more rain! “just remember the off limit stuff will make you feel bad” How true!!!! SO VERY TRUE!!!! That is wonderful about your DH being your helpmate – and of course, he will definitely benefit as well…Well when you get into your boat, maybe you can float on down and visit us for a while!
Quilter – Hey there! Wow, that is great his losing weight – but doesn’t it just get under your skin that most men can drop weight so easily! Well this week I have made myself go on a challenge, just like your challenges and Jack-K’s…my challenge is to have only one serving a day of a starchy carb(Measured serving of one) and be faithful to my diary again…
Gracious – I am going to start doing the abs and what little exercise I can do without aggravating my foot this week. Are you going to try doing the WATP tapes again? I am going to give Serene my tape because I cannot do it with my foot in such bad shape… I am going to make an appointment with the personal trainer and get myself back to being motivated…. Next March I have a friend coming to visit from Germany and I want to be in better shape and thinner…. :strong:
Deb – I am so glad that you survived your time with the little ones! I really want to see My Greek Fat Wedding, and it just never seems like there is any time to…. About the exercise, I too realized just mentally how good I felt when I was exercising. I was always on an energy high, and ever since I stopped I have been dragging and moody…:sp: The doctor said to start walking, that though it will be painful, it is not going to get worse, just hurt… he gave me the name of a place to go for shoe fittings and I am going today at lunch time…the shoe will allow cushioning for me to comfortably walk without too much pain…only 8 more days till London! Lots and Lots and Lots of walking!!!!
LKF – WOW!!! LOOK AT THE SUCCESS YOU ARE HAVING!!!! :cb:You are doing so great! And having DH there to be supportive and you can be each others crutches whenever you feel a bit rocky is great!
Mercy – Hi!!!!!!!
BOB – I am sorry that we missed our weekend together! Sorry about the outcome of the game this weekend – NOT! Hahahaha – Just glad the Gators won!!! Though all the tatoos, pom poms and tshirts I bought for the weekend getaway went to waste – so will have to use them for another game…. I even bought you Tennessee tatoo!!!!
Fillise – I am glad you enjoyed your retreat – and that you are back safe, sound and happy….Yes, breakfast like that would be difficult! But you are home now and in control – you can get back to normal :D Zachman is doing great, today is his first day back to school – so far no phone calls asking me to pick him up so we are doing great! Proves that kids are made of rubber, the way they bounce back!
Toni - Lucky YOU with the nice cool autumn weather - it hasn't hit here yet...not until Halloween.... Sorry to hear about the modem! Glad to see you on line! :)
CONFESSION TIME: I am soooo sorry that I went off program on Saturday for Serene’s birthday dinner…..I had a salad for dinner that was not worth raving about, a bit disappointed! But, ended up eating that steaming hot French bread, a bite of crème brulee, and a hunk of cheesecake, along with a martini made with strawberry vodka and a splash of passionfruit juice (not a real martini), then a glass of port, we all shared a bottle of wine (Spanish red with a hint of chocolate & plums) and then I had a glass of Riesling….So the next day I was doubled over sick, with the trots as well – it was not worth it – and the scale is up big time along with TOM started too! So I gained …..drum roll……8 ½ pounds!!!! But the only thing positive about it – EYE OPENING!!!! Isn’t gluttony a deadly sin? Well, I understand why! I am on a new path….I am going to find my way back to the other month before my foot injury and I am going to start being proud of myself for being such a LOSER!!!!
Well Better finish my salad and get back to work….

Toni48 and Tranquil, thanks a million for your encouraging words. You are right, men can lose weight so much more easily than women can. I have to admit, though, that when my DH joined me in this new eating plan, it didn't start to fall off him quite as quickly as it had times in the past -- just shows you, even men slow down in their ability to lose weight fast the older they get! This should be a lesson to us -- this time, LET'S KEEP IT OFF once we are at goal! And how do we do that, friends? By staying on this marvelous program! I sure plan to!

Happy Monday (I guess)
Well I'm still suffering with this stupid sinus infection/cold. I can't let my box of tissues get to far away. I'm really tired of this. I haven't walked since Thursday. Planning to try it tonite. I did workout a little last nite and I did feel better afterwards. I guess it's those endorphins. Still not much of an appetite. Made myself eat some eggs this am and some chicken salad and a piece of cheesecake (Deb's). Hopefully, the scale will be nice to me, except TOM is due any day. Gosh I have only been to the bathroom once today. Boy that is unusual. It is hard to get the water down. Just don't feel like it. It really doesn't have any taste.
I go the the rheumatologist on Wed so if I'm not better I'll get him to give me something for this. My teeth just hurt so bad.
It was cool here this morning, in the 50's. I think the high 70's this afternoon.
Quilter, Thanks for the MM. Yes we have heard them before, but it's always good to be reminded. Have a great weekend.
Monet, Of course we missed you. Glad you dropped in. Great going at the Church dinner. Yes it does help to have someone to make you accountable. Good for your DH.
Gracious, Sounds like you are doing great. Have a good week.
Deb, Does your mom have computers and the internet at her office? If so, you could always catch up on your posts. Stay ahead of the game this week, fix you some lunch the night before so you don't sabatoge yourself. Throw together a salad or something. Thanks for the MM. Always a good way to start our week. I had a little trouble understanding the cause one.
LKF, It is nice that your Dh is doing this with you. It really helps to have his support. Mine does it too. Although he cheats alot when we are out. Don't worry about the scale not moving. I think the biggest thing with this WOE is the loss of inches. I won't lose any weight, but all of a sudden my clothes are bigger. I have lost a lot more inches than any other diet. I do work out and walk and I'm sure that has helped to, but the inches seem to come off quicker with this WOE.
Mercy, Hope you have a great week.
Fillise, glad you had a great weekend. Sometimes your choices on food can't be helped. That's when you pick something, make it count like a carb and go on. I have had to eat bread I knew wasn't sgww, so I just counted it as a carb and went on. Have a enjoyable week.
Toni, Hi, missed you last week. Seems like computer problems are contagious on this board. Glad you had a spare. Have a great week. It is cool here too especially in the mornings.
Tranquil, Sounds like all had some celebration. I think I would be hung over for a week. Hoping you can find some sort of exercise you can do with your foot. I just love lifting weights. I keep thinking about how it burns more calories and boosts your metabolism. Sounds like you are starting anew and you will be fine. Your challenge sounds great. You can do it. I just know it.
Have a great day everyone.

LKF, Thanks for your praise. I have tried every diet known to man. What made me stick to this, I don't know, but I'm sure glad I did. I feel so much better and sure look better. Just stick with it. It works. This board has probably been one of the reasons I have stuck with it. Such support and friendship. Good luck.

Jackie, I sure will stick with it. I, too, find lots of support with this bunch! Thanks to you all!!!
I've tried every diet, too, and lost on them...but then keeping it off is another matter! I want an eating plan for life and I believe this is it! I feel good while losing, and there's every reason to believe I will feel good all the way to goal and then maintenance, as long as I stick with the program!
Debbie is a perfect example of someone who reached goal way back and still adheres to the plan and feels awful physically and emotionally whenever she strays from it! That's enough to convince me!

Well, I guess Tranquil's confession of going off program for my birthday dinner makes me guilty by association. And, since she said that WE shared a bottle of wine, then you know I was right there with her, overindulging on everything that she did. I didn't realize how much we ate and drank until I saw it in writing. No wonder I still feel a little rough from the weekend. I must confess that I wasn't going to confess going off program. I was feeling like I deserved to do what I wanted to for my birthday, just because it has been such a rotten and stressful year for me. After the deed has been done, I would feel much better being able to say that we stayed OP in our celebration. I would be much more proud of that.
I've had a difficult time staying OP for the last month or so, and I think I'm figuring out part of the reason why, besides a lack of self discipline. My doctor changed my medicine from Zoloft to Wellbutrin, over a month ago. My complaint about Zoloft was that it masked my emotions too much, and I felt like a zombie most of the time, not clear headed. Now that I'm on Wellbrutin, I feel my emotions all the time and to the extreme, feeling sad and blue most of the time. Since I am an emotional eater, I think this contributes to my poor choices in eating off program, but is not the sole reason. Does this make sense of am I just making excuses for myself?? Wish I could find a medicine that keeps me on an even keel, instead of one extreme or another.
Jack-K- sorry you are having so much trouble with your sinuses. :grouphug: I am jealous of your cooler weather. I can still swim comfortably in my pool here.
Monet - of course we missed you last week. Seems like the Atlanta area always has too much rain or not enough. It is wonderful that you have your DH to help you be accountable. I'm so thankful that I have Tranquil to help keep me in line, as it makes this WOE much easier to stick with. We jut need to get to where we don't fall off the wagon together! One of us needs to be strong when the other is weak!
I'm not done posting to everyone but have to get to the bank before it closes. I will finish up a little later.

Serene, Maybe you could adjust the amount of the meds you take. Don't worry about going off program. Shake yourself off and start again. You and T together can be dangerous (in more ways than eating), so one of you will have to be the good cop from now on. It's what you want most. Just don't let what you want most at that very moment cloud what you want most of all.
Good luck.

Hello Everyone! Hope you all had a good Monday. Mine went really fast and I got a lot done at work. Feels great to have a productive day!
I drove home with that extremely bloated feeling. Yuck! I haven’t had that in over a month and I really dislike it. I have no idea why it comes on. I think I’ll talk to dr. about it next month when I go for my physical. Not a constant problem, but no fun when it does appear. Really uncomfortable!
DEB---I liked the point you made about early morning exercise causing you to not really want breakfast. I can relate to that. Usually a glass of water is sufficient for me when I do my exercise in the morning. Thanks for the motivations. Ralph always says something great!
LKF---You are absolutely right about wanting to not “break the spell.” I feel the same way. I did have my first major cheat on Saturday night (Chinese food and a cookie) since the first week of June. I was so afraid that I would just blow it after that. It’s so scary. Then on Sunday DH made popcorn in the afternoon. Yikes!!! Oh, I thought about it, and imagined how good it would taste.. But thank all the gods of sugarbusters that I did not eat any of the popcorn. It’s not easy to get back on track, but so worth it.
TONI---Sorry to hear about your computer woes. That’s a bummer. And so inconvenient. Isn’t it weird how 15 years ago, probably most of us didn’t have a home computer. And now they are an absolute essential of daily living.
TRANQ---Yes, it’s aggravating that some men drop weight so easily. But I can’t be too upset, because dh really needs to lose and he’s feeling so good about it. Good luck with your personal challenge!!! I’ll be cheering you on from the side lines!!! (Oh no, was that a football reference????) Hey, so you and SERENE wavered in celebration . . . get over it. No big deal. It’s not like you do it every single week!!! My MIL tells me “unfortunately your health doesn’t take a holiday” when I’m trying to justify something I shouldn’t eat., But I like to be a bit more understanding. You are already back on track.
JACK-K---I am so sorry that you are still battling with your sinuses. Man, I’m sending good cleansing healthy thoughts your way. My DH sniffed and snotted all day yesterday. Kind of a miracle healing today because there was a softball game to play in tonight! His is all allergies. Since you also live on the Ohio River, aren’t you prone to this yuck in the head. I’ve never had sinus problems until I moved here. Anyway, take care of yourself. hang in there. I hope you are able to sleep at night, so that you aren’t a zombie during the day. {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}
BOB---Sorry to hear about the Vols! I was with you in spirit. Hey, let’s hear it for next week!!! I thought our GATOR was very gracious during the whole ordeal. What a kind winner!!!
Okay, I’m done for the night! Catch you later!

Tonight I took a ww tortilla and stuffed it with chicken cooked in Rotelle tomatoes and topped it with some shredded cheddar cheese and baked it - and I had about a 2 T size serving of Fat Free Refried Beans - trying to keep to smaller size meals - for lunch I had salad - for breakfast I had cottage cheese - and snacktime I had some slices of Turkey Breast.... I am doing great so far...no crackers, nothing but the ww tortilla.... and this is the way it will be for the rest of the week....
Quilter - Thanks for your confidence - You definitely are understanding - I beat myself up using the mentality of your MIL's - I don't think I deserve excuses, but like you said I don't do it every week - I enjoy seeing the success of this woe rather than jumping off the wagon! Ihope you find out what is causing that bloated discomfort - sounds miserable!
BOB - I don't mind wearing the tatoos when I see you with or without a game going on - I will even carry my pom poms around too - and as for Miss Serene - BASHFUL????? Just double dare her and the true "Afro" Wendy comes out - she will do anything! Don't let her convince you that she is shy!
JackK - I hope your head cold goes away!!! You are right - the weight lifting is a must again! Seeing the personal trainer will put me back into prospective and give me drive! I notice that when I take sinus meds I retain water - -----
LKF - I am glad that you were able to join us and get some support, along with it is great to hear how good you feel with this woe....it is nice to read your upbeat and supportive posts...
Well Got to talk to Serene on the phone hard to type and have conversation at the same time :)

It's past my bedtime but I wanted to catch up with ya'll today. Sabrina and Wendy...you will get back on track in no time. I think medicine plays a big part Wendy on the eating or under eating. My little neice won't hardly eat on her wellbutrin and is whiny cryee all the time. I hope they level out your medicines soon so you can feel better emotionally. You've been through alot...allow yourself time. It's better to get the emotions out than to stuff them.
Jack-K sorry you are still feeling poorly. Praying for ya.
Idblong..praying for you too..sorry to hear you are under the weather.
Monet..good to see you back at the board.
Toni..sorry to hear about your computer going down. But praise God you have two in the house..that is awesome.
Fillisie...you sound so refreshed from your retreat. Those jams and jellies sound delicious. I had some sugar free apple butter from Bronson Mo once...a friend brought it as a gift and it was wounderful. It had a tart bite to it but that only inhanced the flavor.
Well, I'd better get to bed or I'll be a bear in the morning. I was asleep earlier and woke for a little snack..bad me :D

Evening all. This is a quick post--I have to be up early tomorrow and on the road to Montgomery by 7:30 am. I actually managed to get 30 mintues on the stationary bike at the health club today. it was the first time in months I've set foot in the place.
I'll try to catch up tomorrow night--but it may be WEdnesday before I get back on the board. Meanwhile--be good everyone!

Mornin', y'all! I hope everyone is off to a good start. I'm still feeling so good OP and hope it never ends!
Hey, Tranquil, where did you find the ww tortillas? Your idea of the Mexican food sounded fabulous and I've been looking everywhere for the ww tortillas and can't find them. I got so desperate the other day that I tool a ww piece of pita bread and smeared some fat-free refried beans on IT with some cheese on top...it was good but a ww tortilla would have made it perfect. Wherever you found them, I hope the store is in my area of central Alabama!
Quilter, I am so proud of you for not giving in with the popcorn your DH made. So you enjoyed the Chinese food complete with a cookie...you got the desire out of your system and ate it and now you can get right back OP, as you have! I'm so proud!!! Seems like if we just absolutely must do something like eat a meal that is slightly off program, it shouldn't blow our minds for any longer than that meal exists...we enjoy it and get right back to the straight and narrow! At least that's what I want to remember to do for the rest of my life. Even Debbie (who has been at goal for a long time now) got right back, after feeling a little rebellious about her eating for several days. It was O.K. for her because she got right back to right eating -- and to feeling good again, I might add...
Debbie, I am sorry eating wrong made you feel awful, but sorta glad at the same time because your body was telling you it hated what you were putting into it! I WANT THAT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE! I want my body to say "Whoa! Whatcha doin' to me?" every time I eat junk I shouldn't, even after I am at goal and have been there for five years!
Everyone have a good day and all of us who are near the Gulf, look out for Isadore! Seems the Weather Channel is pretty convinced he's coming our way! I'm inland but am told we will definitely feel Isadore coming straight through the middle of the state when it makes landfall, with 5-8 inches of rain from it before it proceeds past us!

Hey All:wave:
Thought I'd try to get in whatever post I am able to do until ELI comes home, whenever that may be, or one of the kids tell me they need the computer.
To answer JACKK'S question about a computer at my Mom's office, don't I wish! I was soooo bored, it wasn't funny. All I did was watch TV and read magazines. Boy, does this gal get paid decent money to do not much of anything all day long. I know she does some work that I, just sitting in won't be doing, but geezus, it's so boring. I keep watching the clock just waiting for my time to leave. I so wish there was a computer there!
Okay, time to take a break, Michael needs the computer...figures:shrug:
Last night I had some hard boiled eggs for dinner. Not something I eat often and when I do, they have to have ketchup on them. Personally, I really hate ketchup, probably as much as I don't like mayo, but I do eat them on hard boiled/plain eggs and the once in a blue moon I use to eat fries (not one of my fav. things to eat). Anyhow, I had bought a bottle of WESTBRAE UNSWEETENED KETCHUP long ago, but had never opened the bottle. So last night I did, and for ketchup, it's wonderful! Very surprised it tasted as good as it did, esp. for someone who doesn't really care for ketchup all that much.
QUILTER, I like your MM that you posted, it was some good tip. Cooler weather, what's that? It's still hitting the 80's here! I hate it. But then again, when the cold weather (okay, cold for us, a laugh to you Northeners) I wish for warmer weather. If this was only San Diego-now they have perfect temps! What brand of digital scale did you get?
MONET, I saw on the news about some of the flooding you've had in Atlanta-where the heck did all that rain come from? It's great you and your DH are each other's rocks-it sure helps! Unlike me where ELI would love for me to gain back some of my weight, well, I actually have, so I think he's a bit happier, though I am not:mad:
GRACIOUS, thanks for the kind words, but I sure did wish I didn't have to share all my hardships with the board, I wish there weren't any to share, esp. when it comes to this WOE. I'm trying to "live and learn" though maybe it should be "learn and live!"
LKF, do you not own a computer at home-one of those very few that don't-like me, one of the few without cable? I pray to G-d that you never do have those temptations. I didn't have a single one for over 2 years, but in April when I went away with the kids and went to meet FROG up in NC, I did a baaad thing and bought a brownie mix to make for the kids (so I thought), well, that was the beginning of a demise on my part, I thought I could have just one piece, uh uh:nono: I ate just about all of it! I don't think just one is in my vocabulary! I think when we eat something we haven't ever had before, or something that's a trigger food for us, we go overboard, though I sure was able to control my chocolate intake for a long time, hmmm, maybe I don't know what the **** is wrong with me! I knew long before I indulged that if/when I did cheat, that would be the end. Ask any of the gals that have been on this board for a long time and they can tell you I've said this time and time again, if I cheat, I keep running in the wrong direction, and this still holds true. The only difference is, I run, and I run, almost like FORREST GUMP until I have no where else to run to and then I realize I have to go home, which is to SB and I just seem to find my way again, but admist all of this, I've found myself back up on the scale and not happy. At least I know I can change it back, though it does and will take some time. We may all be different in so many respects, but as you mentioned, we are all so much alike too. Don't worry about not losing last week, your body is probably readjusting to the weight you've already lost. It happens to us all, just continue to do what you've been doing and be patient, it will start to come off again. As long as you are eating enough and of the right things, you have nothing to worry about.
FILLISE, sounds like you had a nice weekend. I can't believe you are getting to see FROG! Please tell her to try and get her butt back on the board, that we do miss her! Hope you enjoy the SLAH party, you'll have to let us know how it goes-and if possible, take some pics to post of you and FROG!!!!
TUESDAY
Good Morning All:wave:
Well, as you can see, I did start a post yesterday but I sure didn't get to finish it, much less get it posted on the board.
Just got in from my morning exercise, did those 4.5 miles in 52:16-very hot and humid out there, it wasn't easy. I'm running a bit late, so I'm going to have to run and hope to find time to continue my post later on.
PLEASE REMEMBER, TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST! Hope to see you all there! Hope I get to come (of course, depends on the kids).
BTW, would you believe, I haven't seen ELI since Sunday! He's been up straight now for 30 hours and that's after only about 4 hours of sleep previously. I swear, I told you all, he wants to die among the coffee beans!!!!!!!!
Those of you in the possible path of Hurricane Izzy, hope it by-passes everyone and fizzles out, though it doesn't look like it. I just hope all goes well in your areas and there won't be any damages or floods. We down here have to now worry about Lilly, it looks like it may possibly give us a direct hit from the paths they are showing us, but of course, with Mother Nature, one never knows, just have to be prepared!!
Have a wonderful day!

Tuesday Morning
I am still grooving and now my total is 8lbs and I am thrilled. My WIW will be another 4 lbs or hopefully more! hehe
TRANQUIL- I started the WATP tapes again and did them every day 2 weeks ago but last week and this week I have only done some ab crunches once. I am weird that way. I used to be so faithful with my exercise but since I switched over to SB I changed for some reason. I will begin again soon, I am sure, but I am losing so great right now that I am not motivated to do it.
Greetings to everyone else! Same ole same ole story of my computer crashing so it has to be quick. See you tomorrow at WIW!!

Hi, Debbie! Thanks for all your wonderful input and thoughts about how you now approach those serious temptations even after all the time you have spent on SB. I need to hear that stuff! I feel so good now (better than I have felt on other WOE's) that I wasn't sure temptation would be as big a battle for me but I see from your experience that it will be...I should have known. But it's good for me to know! You are so gorgeous now (I've seen your pictures through this site) that it gives me incentive to get that nice sleek body back...oh, I'm a few years older than you are (ahem!) but I'll still look almost as good as you when I get to goal! Hee hee!!!
By the way, I do have satellite out in the boonies where I live in Alabama...and we have a computer at home...just in the possession of my DH 100% of the time! I don't mind, though, because I live with the darn thing here at work 10 hours a day!!!
Anyway, Debbie, thanks for the inspiration again -- the fact that you faced those scales again and saw the "damage" done and were again determined to fix it when it is 5-10 pounds rather than waiting until it is 100 is absolutely inspiring!

Checking for Tuesday! Everything is going fine, except that it looks like rain again. I will try not to complain. It has been so dog gone dry around here.... I feel yucky...PMS... but am still plugging along, sticking to program and trying to keep up with everything I don't really want to do..like laundry, dishes, etc.
TRANQUIL and SERENE: You two ought to do a contest...make a reward that you can go get a steak dinner if you BOTH stick on program for X amount of time. Something like that that will encourage you to encourage each other to stick to it. With my husband, it can go both ways. His perfection in sticking on program can inspire me, or tick me off! (I guess it depends on the time of month?!) If the rain continues, and we have to get a boat, I will try and float down your way for a visit.... if the rain quits, maybe I will just make the trip by car. ;)
I have my art student today, so I need to go and get my lesson prepared. Be back later, I hope!

Hi all!!:)
Sorry I didn't get back yesterday. I was kind of down. I went to the Doctor on Saturday for test results. I am down legally 20 lbs. since starting SB in June. All of my results were fine. I should have left with that. BUt NO I asked his opinion about SB he said the best diet on the market is Weight Watchers because it was the easiest to follow and very balanced. I informed him that the weight I lost was from SB. He feels as soon as you go back to eating normally the weight will come back. He doesn't understand that this is Way of eating for LIfe. (This a new doctor my Dr. left and went into private practice.) Well I guess I'll have to show him.
Tranquil- I'm glad all is well with your son. Enjoy your trip to London. I'm glad you and Serene got to celebrate as well as relieve stress. Please don't be to hard on yourself after all you are back on track already.
Jack-k- Hope ou are feeling better.
Serene- The great thing is we can always go over our lives a reevaluate things and start over. Don't be to hard on yourself.
You are truly a wonderful friend. I'm glad you got to celebrate your birthday. You deserve it. Everyday is a new start I wish you the best on getting back OP.
Quilter- Great job on getting right back on track.
Toni, Country, LKF, Monet and Gracious- Hi ladies!!:) I always enjoy your post.
Fillisie- Glad you enjoyed your trip.
Debbie- JUst take it one day at a time. You are such an inspiration and you are proof this WOE works
Well I gotta go know. I hope to see you all at chat tonight.:)

Mercy, you are right, you'll just have to show your doctor that SB works!!! Tell him I've lost over 100 pounds on WW and because it didn't help me deal with the sugar issue, the minute I got to maintenance (yes, I reached goal on the plan and started their maintenance plan), the first thing I went for was chocolate chip cookies -- because that's what I wanted and the minute I put the first one in my mouth, I was out of control! I went immediately back to eating the wrong foods! But with SB, I know what to avoid (not that I will never eat sugar again but at least now, I know what it does to me...something WW never dealt with) and as long as I stay away from that poison, I will feel good and not have the cravings. On WW, the cravings never went away -- I lost the weight but the whole while, I was still craving sugary things! Why? Because WW didn't restrict the sugar intake and the processed foods that caused the rise in insulin so fast that it caused huge hunger and cravings!
So hang in there, Mercy, and know you are on the right track for getting off the weight, doing it in a healthy manner, and will have a way of keeping it off once you get it off!

You've reminded me of a good point this morning. You said you will eat sugar again just not right now. I can't speak for everyone but I think it's so important to not make things "no-no's". What I mean is before I joined the group I would allow my self a nibble or I would say no I can't eat that..meaning I chose not to eat that. Then for some reason after joining with others on this way of eating...I started turning things into no-no's...well hello, that makes them even more desirable. I think you have found a key for me this morning. Thank you. I've had a good week OP except for the chips...I don't know why but I've been craving salt something terrible. Thanks again for the insight.
Love,

Oh, yes, Country, we will all have to eat sugar again! How can we possibly avoid it when it is all around us? The thing is that now, we can learn together how to do without it as much as possible, except in its natural form in fruit, and that learning will help us deal with it for the rest of our lives. I do believe that it will make us feel bad for the rest of our lives and I'm not sorry our bodies react that way -- they are signalling us that we are putting something in that doesn't feel right -- but what I need to remember is that if I keep feeding myself that sugar, I am quite sure that the effects of sugar (feeling bad) will diminish and I'll be right back to old habits.
I think your feeling of making sugar a "no-no" is quite natural -- it's a good thing to think that way...it helps us succeed at the front end of our journey. But as we attempt to live life day to day, to realize we will again eat sugar (and I'm really speaking of when we have lost all the weight we want to) but with great moderation...I think that's the key...and even then, only on rare occasion. I'll never forget the chocolate chip cookies I went for that started me spiralling back to old habits so quickly after losing on WW...I don't want THAT to happen ever again. SB is going to help me keep that from happening!
I'm so glad I could help, Country...we help each other and I am benefitting even more from y'all than I could possibly contribute!

Hi Gang,
I thought I would finally post this. Been working on it all day.
Feeling some better today, Broke down last nite and called a friend who is a Dr. and he called me in a prescription for a Zpack. I was ready to get the pliers and pull my teeth out last nite. DH had to get me hot compresses all nite. Still feel yucky, but guess it is getting better.
Dh made me walk 4 miles last nite since we had missed 3 days of walking. Did most of my workout, except for one that hurt my face. Go figure.
It's bad enough my head is all stopped up, TOM decided to help complicate things too. I just love being a woman.
I really just want to crawl up on the couch and veg out.
Bob, I chanting your MM, but I seriously don't think it's going to happen. It will probably look like a replay of the UT game.
Quilter, ooh Chinese. I am craving General's Chicken. I think I would be happy if I could just have 1 bite. I just read in the paper Sunday that popcorn, dairy, ww products, brown rice, are the best things to eat for insulin resistance and to lose weight. So maybe that popcorn wouldn't be so bad. I think that nasty Ohio causes all kinds of troubles. I never had allergies and now I sneeze my head off. It took me forever to get to sleep last nite, but I slept good when I finaly did. Thanks for the cleansing thoughts. I sure hope they work. Hope you are unbloated today. Wonder what causes it? TOM close?
Idblond. Hope you are better today. {{HUGS}}
Country, Hope you got your beauty rest and are feeling chipper today. :flower2:
Fillise, Good job on getting back to the gym. :strong: Have a safe trip.
LKF, I take some shredded lettuce, refried beans, (taco meat- not always) and cheese and jalapenos, and I have a taco salad. Satisfies the Mexican need. I also eat Taco Bell's salad alot. Just not the shell. I agree with you. I want to be able to get to goal, maintain, have that special treat or meal and go right back to program. You are on the right track. Take cover from the storm. Stay safe.
Gracious, You are doing fantastic. :dance:You are withering away on us. Congrats.
Deb, YUK! catsup on hardboiled eggs!! And fries aren't one of your favorite foods??? You aren't normal LOL BTW, my boss was just eating MCD fries, boy did they smell good.
Mercy, First of all Congrats on your 20 lbs. That is great. Second, I think WW is a great diet. But realistically, one will not count points all their life. If you are still eating sweets, you are still craving them and you will not keep in portion control. Also WW allows you to eat many more than 3 carbs a day. Plus the fact who wants to pay $10 a week and go to meetings every week and once you quit going, here comes the weight. Been there, got to goal with WW, and added 110 lbs. I can come on here free any time everyday. :soap: You just show him!!!!
Don't know if I'll make it to chat or not tonite, depends if I can get off the couch and DD isn't using the computer.
Have a great nite.

Bless your heart, Jackie! I will add my prayers to those going up for you, that you will start feeling better and better. You've been sick long enough. I'll bet that ZPack will help -- I've had that before and it really does the job.
And thanks for the good idea on the taco salad...YUMMMMMMMMMM! I still want to find the ww tortillas, though, so anyone out there who knows where I can find them in a store in Birmingham, Alabama, please pass your wisdom my way.
You were so right about WW -- I said almost exactly the same thing to Mercy earlier today...show that doctor SB beats WW all to pieces!
Incidentally, does anyone know if I can get away with using chicken boullion cubes? I think they have a trace of sugar in them but something like that sure would be good to cook with the brown Basmati rice I am growing to love!

We get a daily newsletter from some company and they have a health and fitness section. This was it for today.
Sugar myths:
Sugar makes you gain wt. No, a calories is just a calorie. But some sugary foods contain lots of fat.
Sugar causes your body to store more fat. There is no scientific proof of this.
Sugar causes mood swings. Having surgary foods can cause a crash but the real culprit here is going for hours w/o eating. W/o food in your body, blood sugar spikes and then falls off.
Sugar gives you diabetes. No, obesity is the leading link to type II diabetes.
Sugar is addictive. For most, if you crave sugar, it's probably because we haven't eat enough normal food.
This must have been written by some skinny man who has never been on a diet in his life. I thought it was garbage and threw it right in there.
Just thought I would share with you all.

I found WW tortillas here in Orlando at a HFS in their frozen food section. They have a number of frozen breads, among which is Ezekiel bread. The tortillas were right there with the other breads. Hope you find it. BTW, they have a surprising high calorie count.
BOB, DebyJ--Have you all recovered? Things will get better. Deby, your DH is not a Ewe Tea fan? Sounds like he was rootin' for the "other team" if he is getting you a coffin for poor ole Smokey. We play UK this week and looks like it will be a big game. UK has done really well. This may be the year for them. Too bad they are on probation.

Oh, boy! Thanks for the idea of where to find the ww tortillas, GatorGal! We don't have HFS here but you have given me the idea of checking in the frozen food section -- I never would have thought to look there. Wonder why they are so high in calories? Oh, well, I'll count on the fact that we aren't supposed to count calories with SB...well, you know what I mean...I know calories matter but not as much as the kind of calories.

I haven't found any stone ground whole wheat tortillas yet but several whole wheat brands. I am going to try and make some home made ones this weekend. If they come out good I will share the recipe. Well, the best I can, I don't measure most of the time. :)
Jack-K....I had to laugh..I just had taco bell salad without the shell last night for a treat. We took the kids...it's rare we eat out..but I was so hungry for it.
Praying for those of you in the path of this storm. If it keeps moving the way they predict we should be fine here. Just some rain and wind. But keeping my eyes peeled non the less..you just never know with a storm.
Love,

Good afternoon everyone.. Finally getting on to post. The day has just wizzed by me.. I hope I can get more done tomorrow....
Monet- I think I feel like you!!! Its got to get better..
Mercy- I think allot of doctor's haven't really read the book on SB so they don't really understand the program or way of eating.. Don't you? Wait till he sees how you do and keep it off.
LKF- Yep that sugar sure is a poison.. I know it is for me.. And I really have to deciede what I want more. A healthy body or sugar...... I'm hopeing to not eat sugar again forever.. This really is going to be my way of eating for life..
CountryMom-Wonder why you're craving salt? For some reason I've been hungry all afternoon.. Know I need to get out and exercise.. Are you still doing some walking???
debyj- Hope you find something but mission tortilla's I love mexican food and would kill for some legal shells.
Jack-K- Sorry about your tooth... I go to the dentist Thursday.. OOOO eeee scarey.. I love taco salad to. And they're so easy to make..

Howdy---
I got ww tortillas at kroger in the dairy section. They are misson brand--Guess they arent the ones i'm supposed to get?
Gatorgal--my dh is diehard BAMA fan. Went to school there, goes to all the home games etc. Our house is one big contradiction! UT on one side, crimson on the other. We even have t-shirts we wear to the game that say "mixed marriage". So, he's having some fun with my big loss!
Well, i didn't take the doggie for a walk today. I rode my stationary bike in the house instead. I"m weezy from all the pollen in the air. I quit drinking april 7th and quit smoking two years ago and i keep a sinus infection or a cold!! WHAT'S UP WITH THAT??? I have noticed that i feel better with this woe.
Hey---popcorn is not good for a insulin resistance(i don't think)--can't have noooo corn or taters if you are watching glycemic indexes

Just a quickie gals, ran in to the chat room to say hello, no one was there! Oh well, I guess it was for the best. ELI just got home about 15 minutes ago-almost forgot what he looks like!
Going to spend a few minutes with the old fart, before we hit the hay. Another boring day tomorrow, I can't wait til it's over!
One quickie...if you can't find the CEDAR LANE FF TORTILLAS in your area, I posted a recipe longgggg ago on the recipe boards that you may want to try making, here's not only the link to that board, but the recipe as well:
Got this off the internet - haven't tried them yet, but sound pretty good!
Whole Wheat Tortillas
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1 1/2 cups warm water
Mix the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the water and mix into a nice dough. Knead until soft and elastic.
At this point, you can let the dough rest for an hour or so, but it isn't really neccessary. Pinch off a chunk of dough, roll into a smooth ball (golf-ball size) with your hands, then flatten on a floured surface. With a rolling pin, roll into a thin circle. Be generous with the flour to avoid sticking.
Cook on a medium hot griddle until delicately beige and specked with brown. It may take some practice to get the griddle the right temperature. You don't have to use any oil on the griddle.
My only problem with these tortillas is keeping them around! My kids eat them with beans, or with fruit or jam, or just plain. They make a great quick pizza crust --- add tomato sauce and toppings and put under the broiler. We love them for burritos and quesadillas.
Besides being tasty and nutritious, they are also cheap --- this recipe makes about a dozen for around 20 cents.
GOOD LUCK TOMORROW FOR WIW!!!!

I haven't gotten on the scale yet this morning.
Yesterday was busy--but I got I nice surprise when I got home and it was our very own dungeon mistress calling to see if the Alabama contingent was getting ready for hurricane Izzy. We are--at least I am--we are getting rain from the storm now. I expect that Missy and the LA crew will get a more direct hit--but we are expecting a lot of rain over the next few days.
Deb--It was great talking to you last night! Have fun at work today--maybe you should take a book or something! :D
Heartmom--I'm with you on seeing Gracious' menus--I'd like to get in on that myself!
Thunder1--OP stands for "on program" as in I'm eating on program today. Reading the posts is fun!
debyj--me too on the popcorn. I try to stay away from it all together--especially since movie theater popcorn is also sooooo full of fat. It has been a revelation to learn that you can actually enjoy a movie without eating! Who knew?
Toni-good to hear from you!
Country--I get WW tortillas at either Kroger or at Super Walmart. I make fajatas from time to time with them and once in a blue moon, I'll make a breakfast buritto with one. I like having them around.
Jack-K--sounds like your health newsletter was written by a hack for the sugar institute--must be the same writer the tobacco folks used to tell us that there was no evidence that smoking causes cancer!!!! I hope you are feeling better this morning!
Gator--are you still basking in the glow?????
Monet--I was hoping I'd be able to stop by when I went through Atlanta last weekend, but alas I was with folks on both the trip up and back. I'll call the next time I come through.
Gracious--you go girl!!! I can't wait to see this week's report!
Ok--time to get to work. Have a great day everyone!

Mornin, everyone! Yep, we're getting the bands of rain from Isadore already, too, here in Birmingham where I work! We drove in rain all the way from Springville into work this morning!
Well, thank you, thank you, thank you, Debbie, for the great-looking recipe for ww tortillas! I never dreamed it could be so simple! I can't wait to get some ww flour and start cooking my own! I am no baker but this looks like something I can handle. Thanks, too, to debyj, Susan (Fillise), Country and Debbie for suggestions on where to buy store-bought ones. Susan, you mentioned Super WalMart but I swear I have looked there and can't find them...could you give me a hint of where in Super WalMart they were? Maybe in the dairy section as debyj found them in Kroger's. Yippeeeee! I finally get to make some good ol' Mexican food with ww tortillas! Yum!
Toni, I'm right there with you affirming that SB is the only way for me! I am stuck on the scale for the second week but I lost so well for the weeks before then that I'm not complaining. My weekly average is still right at 2 pounds a week and I'll take that any day!
Jack-K, feeling better yet? I sure hope so...I've been praying for you. Let us know how you are feeling this morning, 'K?
I'm off to a busy day but I'll pop back in during the day. Can't wait to hear all the great weight losses this week for everyone on WIW...I need to hear those losses since I'm in my second week with no loss...but again, not discouraged!!!
Y'all have a good one!

Happy WIW Everyone!
Hope the scale is good to everyone today.
I am down 2 lbs. But best of all, I have hit the 90 lb. loss today. I think the biggest difference I see is that this time last year I was wearing a size 22 and now I am in a 12 some 10's.
I am feeling much better today. Still blowing, but not near as much. My teeth don't hurt near as much. I guess I'm on the mend finally. Thanks for all your well wishes. They are working.
I went to the RA Dr. today. I had lost 35 lbs since I was there in March and 85 since my previous appt. They were all going crazy. I saw 3 people and everyone of them asked how I did it and always said WW? before I could answer. When I told them no, SB they all asked what that was. She is cutting my meds back since I feel so good (which I think is due to all the wt loss) so we will see how it goes. I would love to get off most of this stuff.
Hoping all the gals in Louisianna are safe. Fruit, Melf, Sef, Thunderwoman (hope I didn't miss anyone) take cover. All the Alabama girls will be wet for a while it seems. Hope you all are safe too.
Gator, Don't kid yourself, the game will be as bad as the UT game. Probation doesn't really matter. We will probably only win 1 or 2 more realisticly.
Country, Looks like Texas is going to miss the major part of the storm. Good for you all. It's those gals in Louisianna that will need to take cover.
Toni, Yuk the dentist. Glad it is you and not me. Mine is just from the sinus infection, It is some better today thanks.
Debyj, You sound like Bob. She says she has had more colds, etc since she quit smoking. You would think it would be the other way. You have conquered two major vices. You are to be commended. This should be a piece of cake (no pun intendend). You are an inspiration. On the popcorn. I know it is not allowed, since it is corn, but that is what the article said.
Fillise, Yes, thanks I am much better today. Still blowing, but near as much. Teeth feel better too. Glad you Ala girls are ok down there.
LKF, Sorry there was no loss this week. Hang in there. You are probably losing inches as we speak. Next week will be a big one. Some of the Wal-Marts stock different things. I can't get the ww buns at mine or the yogurt. Depends on the distributors in your area. Yes, thanks. I am much better today. I think I'll live now. Have a great day :flower2:
I couldn't make it to chat last nite, DD was using the computer for homework. Did I miss anything important???
Have a great day and I'll check back to see all the great losses today. Good luck.

Hi All: I have been a bit under the weather and therefor I missed chat, missed posting, and will probably not get to post much today as well....
WW Tortillas - I found organic WW tortillas in Publix - they were in the wrap section of the Bread isle....but not sure of the name.
I am still up 8.5 lbs - and TOM is the culprit!
Hi to everyone - and for my LA friends and All those Texans and possibly Alabamians....stay safe from the rain and winds!!! Thinking of you all!!!! We are getting incredible amounts of rain here with flooding - cannot imagine how bad it would be if we were hit directly - so take care all!!!

I can't believe I made it to the board! :yikes: I could read the previous pages but it would never let me get to page 4..weird. In any case, I am down 4 lbs for this week, that is 8 in total since Sept 15th!
JACK-K- All I can say is....YOU ROCK!!! Way to go woman. You have so absolutely awesome. I love reading your progress, it is an encouragement to all of us!
HEARTMOM & FILLISE- I feel kinda creepy, but the thing is, I have not been following SB during this fantastic loss. I love SB but I really needed to get a boost so I switched back to more of an Atkins thing a few weeks ago and lost a few pounds. Then I really wanted to make my 1 year anniversary of lowcarbing/sb'ing a good one and I began to cut out even more carbs. I intend on going back to SB but I needed to get rid of some of these pounds faster than SB was allowing me to. Once I get close to goal, I will switch back to SB for maintenance.
I am now 166!!! My signature is *nearly* true! :cb: Just give me one more WIW and I am hoping to be there for sure!
Only 12 lbs from goal!

Wow, Jack-K! 90 pounds GONE! You are such an inspiration! And congratulations on the doctor visit! It has to feel good for the doctor to cut down on some of your meds...I know it was the weight loss. I am so proud of you...and so glad you are feeling better today. Thank God!
Gracious, congratulations on losing 4 pounds this week! Wow! I am so proud of you and you are so close to goal! You'll be there before you know it...
Tranquil, thanks for the advice about where to find ww tortillas. You and I both have had a rough time lately getting more weight off...but like Jack-K said, we just gotta hang in there and be patient. If we stick to it, it has to come off! What an inspiration she is!
I appreciate all the well wishes about Issy coming inland. I guess because Alabama will mostly be on the eastern side of the storm, we'll get a ton of rain. It still hasn't let up since last night. Y'all down there in Louisiana, feel my prayers for you and let us know how you are doing as this thing comes ashore.

Hey everyone,
Tried to get into chat last night, but it kept saying, "You need to re-enter your name" and I couldn't find where to do it, so I got frustrated and logged off. :(
Been sick with the flu/crud for almost a week, and it's stressing me out. I'm getting married in 10 days :yikes: :hyper: and there's still so much to do! :tired:
We're meeting with the photographer Thursday to go over timing and pictures, and Friday I pick up the dress from the bridal shop. Hopefully it will be all sized and ready!
Saturday we're getting the house ready for guests, and Sunday I am having my hair trimmed and highlighted.
Monday my Aunt and Uncle from Washington will arrive, and it's all downhill from there... My best friend flies in Weds., my mother and another good friend Thurs., Friday is the rehearsal and dinner. Next Saturday at 11am, we'll be getting married! :dancer:
Sorry I haven't been posting much, and will probably only skim posts until sometime after all this settles down. I miss you guys!
Didn't do WIW, because it's TOM and I haven't been too OP, although I've been careful - I haven't totally thrown in the towel. I plan to get back on track right after the wedding!!!
Hugs to all!

Good Afternoon Everyone:wave:
Okay, I must have my big head up my arse! Why have I been sitting here being bored to tears and even after JACKK mentioned about a computer at my Mom's office that I didn't, until today, even think about bringing my laptop here! Boy, I am losing it! Today, I'm here with my laptop, can't go on line, but at least I can type and try to catch up with some of the posts that I was able to copy on to word. I'll just have to catch up with posts between the time I copied and when I actually post, if possible.
Sitting here, it amazes me how many people come in and don't speak a word of English. Some I can get buy with speaking to in my broken Spanish, others, I have to beep the maintenance man to come translate. I don't know how the gal who is normally here does it, she doesn't speak Spanish either.
I was able to get in my walk today, though it seemed harder than the past 2 days. I thought I'd find it easier but it was harder. Not only did I have to contend with the heat and humidity, but it was windy today as well. Still, I did better than I thought. I almost didn't go, but got in those 4.5 miles in 53:46. Three days in a row. I sorta feel a bit lonely over on the exercise board though:^:
Sucks that I have to be here today, as ELI is off. He got home late last night. He fell asleep shortly after he got home, he was so pooped from being up so many hours. He's going out to lunch with his daughter today and we'll probably do something later when I get out of here-he's hinted at OLE OLE, but honestly, I think it's too late to go up there later, but I'll do whatever he wants, it's a rare occurrence that I say no to OLE OLE!!! As long as I'm home in time to watch the last BIG BROTHER, I don't care where we go!
Eating has been really good. My keeping my food journal really does help keep me focused more so than if I didn't. Not that I write every thing down, I can't when I make a mixed meal, but single foods, they do get written down. I do find though that I'm a lot more hungry in the evening. Even though I KNOW that I've gained some weight I can feel that my pants aren't as tight as they felt a few days ago AND when I walk, my fanny pack that I wear that doesn't have any give whatsoever, it fits fine, a bit snug, but at least I didn't gain enough weight where I have to let it out! To put it in a nutshell, I just feel better all around.
I tried calling FRUIT last night to see how things were going with her and I couldn't get through though, I kept getting an odd message code from the phone company and that my call couldn't go through-hoping she's okay. They were showing NO on the news last night and it sure looked nasty there. I know SEF is still out of town. Anyhow, once again, hope everyone in IZZY'S path weathers whatever storms come their way. We down here are still watching LILI to see what it may do and where it may go-hope not here!
A comment about the ww tortillas: Do make sure whatever brand you buy that you look at not only the ingredients, but the calorie information per serving! Some of these tortillas are pretty big and if you look at what a serving is, it may be half a tortilla. If you are trying to watch you intake of starchy carbs and trying to keep it to 2-3 a day, double check those labels gals. The tortillas I use is equal to 2 starchy carbs. A starchy carb is one ounce of bread, or approx 60 calories. It doesn't have to be exact of course, but close to that. My tortillas are 120 calories and about 2 ounces each, if I remember correctly off the top of my head. I think I mentioned this in a post a week or so ago to QUILTER.
Okay, enough of my boring info, it's time I get caught up with some posts while I have no excuses!
TONI, OMG, now you have modem problems! Hope you get yours fixed a lot quicker and easier than it took with mine. Sounds like you had a nice walk, and lucky you that it's beautiful there, lots nicer than what we have down here. Take advantage of your wonderful weather!
TRANQUIL, I'm sure you'll get to see GREEK WEDDING before it goes from the theaters. You and SERENE should go, you'll both love it and laugh your socks off. Of course we feel better when we exercise, not only does it make us feel good about what we've accomplished, help us with the scale going down, but those endorphins getting pumped in us REALLY does make us feel great! I'm sure you'll be getting lots of walking in while you are in the UK, esp. when you go in search of all that chocolate you'll be schlepping home for me;) I just hope your foot doesn't give you any problems. Pack those pain killers! Hey girl, I'm still waiting for you to e-mail me your snail mail addy so I can get that UK article out to you before you go. Okay, so you AND SERENE confessed to partaking in some interesting foods when you went out to dinner, it's not an every day occurrence and you went to Partay, so as long as you had a good time, that's what counts-though don't forget about those trots afterwards! That should make you think twice about doing it too often. I just want to know, who's idea was it to indulge? Did one just coyly order something and just give a Cheshire cat smile to the other and lead the other in to temptation? Or, who spoke about this first? Details!!!!
JACKK, hoping your sinuses aren't giving you lots of trouble today. I envy you that you can eat a PIECE of cheesecake, not like me, my piece of cheesecake is the ENTIRE CHEESECAKE:fr: How did your visit to the Dr. go today? Thanks again for mentioning the computer at my Mom's office, just took a little bit to kick in the alternative! I had to read the CAUSE MM a couple times before I understood it, sometimes you have to search for a deeper meaning. Me, normal? I never said I was!!!! Far from it!!!! Remember, I'm not a big starchy carb lover, and it's not like I never ate fries, esp. when RALLY'S was around, I loved those seasoned fries, but sure wouldn't go out of my way to get them. No, my priorities were definitely on the candy, ice cream, cookies and anything else that falls under sugary junk foods. I really don't care for eggs, that is unless they are in something like a cake or cookies:lol: but I'll eat the hardboiled ones with ketchup and scrambled have to have cheese in them, otherwise ketchup, otherwise I won't touch them. Normal, never-strange, sure!
LKF, you CAN stay on SB for life, which is one reason I chose this plan. There's very few plans that you can do that one, WW is one of them, Richard Simmons is another one that comes to mind, but there's not many that you can do indefinitely. I was able to stay OP for over 2 years without a single cheat and one of the reasons I was able to do so was reading just how awful people felt when they would go off plan, not only did they feel bad mentally, but physically as well. Of course, I too found out firsthand just what they meant finally, but at least it took me over 2 years to finally cave in. I wish these feelings would be in the forefront of our minds so it would deter us from doing it should we think about doing so, but I think it's like giving birth, you know there's pain but you forget about the pain you went through when the time comes to get pregnant again. BUT, do we really THINK about cheating, or is it just something we do and wallow in what we did afterwards, wondering why we just cheated? I told one of our old board members, NANCE, that if you think about cheating, wait 15 minutes before you partake in whatever it is, and after 15 minutes, if you still want it, go for it, just watch your portion and quit it after that, but most of the time, if you do this, more often than not, you won't want it after 15 minutes, because you had time to REALLY think about it and the consequences it may cause you if you do eat it. GORGEOUS, OMG girl, do you need some glasses? Thanks for the compliment, but gorgeous I'm not, no me. Wait til the day you meet me close up, you'll be thinking twice about those words;) I don't blame you for not wanting to be on the computer at home when you are on it that many hours a day because you have to be, it's good to take a break over the weekend. Chicken buillon, not sure of the ingredients, but if the sugars fall under the 3 gram rule you can use it. How about using ff canned chicken broth instead? I've never made the recipe for the WW TORTILLA'S ( I hate to cook) so if you do make them, PLEASE do let me as well as the rest of the board know how they came out! Hope you stay dry up there!
SERENE, read my post to TRANQUIL, it includes you. I too think you were good to go on your bday. This is going to be my 3rd birthday since being on SB and both times before I didn't eat anything off plan and yes, I got through the day just fine, but if there is any day that I should be able to indulge a little, it would be my bday. BUT, my problem is as it's always been, once I eat one thing off plan, I keep going. How I'll handle this bday that's coming, I haven't a clue-maybe make a cheesecake and eat til I get sick of it and let it be over that day-who knows! I hope you can find a happy medium with your medications and how they make you feel. Maybe there's another alternative?
BOB, I'm sure your arse will be glued to the boob-tube for BB tonight-I'll be vegging out on the couch in my jammies!
QUILTER, when you get bloated like that, do you see it on the scale as well, or just the way you feel? I'm sure I'll be feeling that kind of bloat any day, TOM is due in the next couple days-YUCK! I too find that water is just fine before I exercise and then when I return and cool down, than I get a bite to eat. Usually, when I'm not rushed as I have been this week, I may not eat until after 10am most days, but once I start, I don't stop!
LDBLOND, hope you feel better soon!
MONET, hope it dries up for you up there, and I hope you don't get more rain from Isidore!
MERCY, don't worry about what the Dr. says. He probably knows nothing about SB and think it's just a fad diet and if he has read something about it it was probably one of those articles that had false and misguided information, like this is a low carb high fat diet, which we all know it is not. My Uncle is a highly respected and well-known internist in W. Palm Beach (rich people area) and he recommends this WOE to many patients. You know what they say about ignorance. You will show him better. The only thing he said that was partially true is if you go back to eating normal. If normal for you was like normal was for me for almost my entire life, well, sure, you'll gain it back and more, I wasn't eating normal during all those years. Now, with SB, this is normal! Give him my number, I'll set his arse straight!:s:
DEBY, glad to hear you got in a walk. It's nice to get out, esp. when you have a great neighborhood to walk in. Take advantage of it and be thankful you don't have to pound the pavement down busy streets as I do smelling the exhaust fumes of cars, buses and trucks, smell roadkill that's been baking for days, shall I go one? Not that I don't like in a nice neighborhood, to the contrary, but it's not condusive for nice walks. What are the ingredients listed in the tortillas that you bought?
THUNDER, I'm sure you have lots to say, it's just finding the time to say it!! If no one else has said this, OP means on plan, staying on due course.
FILLISE, glad i was able to talk to you as well last night and hope that you weather what ever Izzy throws your way. Oh, besides food for Belle which you said you have lots of, TOILET PAPER is another definite essential! As I mentioned before, I'm fully prepared should anything hit us anytime in the near future.
OMG, I can't believe it, I'm caught up! At least I think I am. If I failed to repsond to anyone, it's not intentional, doing this in word was a bit different than how I usually do it. I send hello's and hugs to everyone that I didn't repsond to, if there was anyone.
Well, I think I made good use of my time here-don't you? As soon as I get home I'm going to plug this baby back in and get this post up on the board. I'll worry about catching up with the posts that have been posted since this morning later, at least I got this much done!!!
Have a great day!

Hey All:wave:
Boy, I sure was happy to get that last post up on the board. Figured, if any one called during those few minutes, they'd call back if it was important enough. It's not like the phone is ringing off the wall here! Was also able to copy the posts that were newly posted since I was on last, so in this next half hour of time I have before I get to fly the coop, I'm going to catch up with those posts as well:D
JACKK, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Not only for this weeks loss, but hitting the 90lb mark-that's awesome news!!!!
You must be doing that happy dance:dance: all around the house! What great news from the Dr.'s office. That's wonderful that so many have recognized your wonderful efforts and through those efforts you are able to go off some of your meds. I'm sure in time you'll be off more meds, and hopefully all of them. Keep up the great work!
TRANQUIL, sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather, hope whatever you have you get rid of soon. MICHAEL wasn't feeling too hot this morning, said he felt barfy and dizzy, but you know my motto, dying or dead, you're going to school. I told him to at least get marked in for the day and if he was feeling that he couldn't stay he could call me-never did, so guess it was something he could suffer through for the day, thankgoodness!
GRACIOUS, CONGRATULATIONS! WOW! That's a great loss you've had this week as well as the past 2 weeks! When you go back to Atkins to boost your loss and then go back to eating carbs, are you able to keep this fast weight loss off? It seems like a lot of weight to lose in such a short time. I'd love to lose like that but I know I wouldn't stick to not having any fruits, breads yes, but fruits, no way. I can stay away from starchy carbs if I really wanted to, but others, uh-uh:nono: I always say, whatever works, and this sure looks like it works for you!
JENN, sorry to hear you've been feeling cruddy, hope you feel better soon. You surely don't need to feel like this with all that you have to do with getting ready for the "BIG DAY!" Try not to stress over everything, it will all fall in to place, I'm sure and I know you will have a wonderful day and you'll be a gorgeous bride. Of course, the pictures you'll post will show this to us all!;)
Okay, I'm almost ready to split. I think I'll play it dangerously and get this posted now!:s: Hopefully, Mom won't call in these next few minutes!
Toodles Again!

Hey, Debbie! Thanks for the great posts catching yourself up...and I still say you are gorgeous and a true inspiration to me! And when I read you were able to stay OP for over two years, well, that's just incredible...and that's how you got to goal when you did. I say you deserved to go crazy eating everything in sight last week! You did it and got it out of your system and have jumped right back on the SB bandwagon! That, too, is inspiration -- no waiting until you are 20 pounds overweight again! Or more! Ugh... Do you mean that what you did last week in going off program was the first time you had done it? And to think, we got to go through it with you. I feel honored. You know, I had only been OP for about three weeks when we went to Mobile to meet some friends and I ate out with them at a Thai restaurant where they served me some regular noodles in a chow mein dish...well, after being on SB for only two weeks, I got so sick from eating those enriched noodles that I thought I was going to die!!! Hey, I want to get that sick whenever I stick any of my favorite foods from the past that were so bad for me, like chocolate cake and 31 Flavors ice cream! That will cure me for sure! I've never felt that sick in my life before! Major cramping in the stomach and abdomen for hours!
Thanks, Debbie, for the advice about chicken boullion...the sugar is definitely under 3 grams and now I do remember that SB rule. I had looked at the canned chicken broth and found out it had sugar, too, so wasn't going to eat that, either. I'll bet the boullion cubes have less. I'll find out.
I hate to cook, too, but those ww tortillas sound great so I'll be trying them soon and letting all of you know how they go.
Gotta get back to the old pounding of the keyboard but I'll be back on later...

I for one am looking forward to useing Debbie's recipe for
ww tortillas. Its been 2 months since I have had any bread.
I have diabetes so I want to keep my starchy carbs few
and far between. This morning I did have a ww waffle it
was really good for a change. I have not lost much but I
do feel a lot better.
I was glad to hear about everyone's weight lose. Keep up the good work!;)

Hi y'all. WIW was not too bad to me today. Still stuck at 154, but no loss is better than a gain. Hope everyone in Izzy's path is safe. Not much time to post replies now. It's the end of the six weeks and that means mucho paper work and stuff to do.

DEBELLI- I guess the true test as to whether or not I can keep off those quick loss pounds will be once I begin adding the carbs back into my menu. I think they will though because I have lost weight before and kept it off. It will just be a matter of adding things back slowly until I get back to SB eating and really sticking to SB faithfully. All of this will come in time I suppose but here is to hoping! After seeing these great numbers again (which I haven't seen since my High School and University days ) that is already great incentive for me to stick with it!

Just checking back in,
Congrats to all the losers, all others, hang in there.
BTW, where is everybody lately???
Tranquil, Hate that you are feeling bad. I can relate. I missed chat too. Feel better soon. Stay dry.
Gracious, Wow 4 lbs. and 8 in a week and a half. You are awesome. Spill the beans, what are your secrets. I'm sure all of us would love to see the same results.Keep up the good work. You are only 1 lbs lower than me. Your signature will be true next week or you will have to lower it. Congrats!!!!
Jenn, oH MY GOSH 10 days. How exciting. Sorry you feel so bad. Things will come together. Try not to get to stressed out and enjoy all the festivities. Hurry back. We miss you.
Deb, I started to mention to you about the lap top, but I figured there wouldn't be an internet connection. But good idea to catch up. What a bummer, Eli off and you're not. That really makes the day go longer. Glad you are feeling better all around. I think you are a little harder on yourself than you should be. I knew you didn't gain that much wt. You'll be at that cushion before you know it. We won't tell you mom about the phone line. BTW, I made the cheescake on Sunday. Brought 1 pc to the girl at work doing SB with me and DH ate some and I have 1 pc left. So I didn't do too bad, only 1 piece a day for me. I have the same motto when it comes to sick kids. They always got mad at me, but it has paid off in the long run. Now they won't miss school or work for nothing. They have developed good work ethics. That is something you hardly see any more especially in young adults. You mentined you talked to Nance, How is she? Is she coming back soon?
Thunder1, Hope you are doing good. Have a great day.
Music, I agree, hang in there. It will move soon.
Have a great nite.

JACK-k- There isn't any secret, there just isn't any carbs! We are close, aren't we? I think we asked each other before, but I am asking again! How tall are you? I am 5'8.5" tall and am a large framed person. When I was in High School I was a size 7 and weighed in the area of 145-150. I am now size 10-12 but want to be a complete 10, as it were. You know, 9/10 in everything. Anything smaller is too small for me now I think. Hey, I am 34 and with 3 kids so I think that is small enough! Afterall, I still want to be able to eat and enjoy food.

Morning everyone! I'm going to try to get a post in before Belle decised she wants to snuggle. Lately she has decided that our snuggle time will be when I am at the computer and trying to work. She climbs into my arms and purrs so sweetly, but then I can't type. Now when I'm watching tv and I want to snuggle with her do you think she will have anything to do with me? Nope.
Rain, rain, rain here. We are under a flood watch and a wind advisory for this afternoon. Still those LA girls are really in the middle of Izzy--so keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Jackie--You go girl! 90 Lbs--that's quite a milestone!:cb: :cb: :cb:
I'm proud of you!
BOB--I hope BB went your way last night. I must say that I haven't gotten into watching either that or Survivor. But don't even call me on Sunday nights when the Sopranos are on!!!!
Gracious--WTG on your loss!!!!!:cb:
LKF--I found the WW tortillas in the bread aisle at Super Walmart. Deb is right about watching the portions though!
Deb--yes on the toilet paper!
Jenn--Hope you are feeling better--10 days will pass quickly. I know everything will be just beautiful!
OK--got to go.

Mornin, all!
Ugh, under water even as far north as Birmingham...rain hasn't let up for almost 48 hours now and today will be the heaviest! But I agree with you, Fillise, all our LA friends are getting it the worst. Sounds like they have already gotten over 10 inches before coming all the way inland!
Thanks, Fillise, for the scoop on where to find the ww tortillas. I'll look up here at the WalMart on that bread isle...thought I had but I'll look again.
Hey, I have a question for anyone who knows. Y'all talk a lot about the wonderful cheesecake you make and enjoy...but I was wondering if we couldn't adjust recipes like cookies we like to prepare for the Christmas Holidays, using ww flour and Splenda instead of regular flour and sugar. Anyone tried this with anything they like to bake for the Holidays?

BOB- I am honoured at being addressed by *The BOB* ! hehe Thanks for the encouragement. I feel the same way, let's just get these blooming pounds off and keep them off!!
DEBYJ- You are grooving girl! Just 1 lb away from the 100's and that is a great milestone. I remember making the transition, it did so much for me to know I weighed less than 200 lbs.
FILLISE- My mew mew is sitting here on my lap purring away too! I love when he cuddles like this. I just lean forward a bit and put my arms around him while I type. He snuggles in close and rubs his face on my chin.
THUNDR1-Keep up the good work. The feeling better is a great motivation to eat right, isn't it?!
MUSIC- Sending hellos to you . Better to maintain than gain!
The board has been slow lately...I wonder why.
DEBELLI- You mentioned NANCE in a post there....where did she go to? Did she fall of the wagon or can't she get to the board? NANCE, if you are reading this I am sending my greetings and hopes that you hop back on if you have fallen off.
Anyway....off we go to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of OZ.

Hi all!!!:)
Thunder1- I am diabetic also that is why I chose SB and it has made such a difference in my blood sugars.
Deb- Glad you are feeling better. The next time the Dr. talks about SB I'll give him your number.;) You know it is funny he didn't say anything about all of my blood work coming out normal Cholestrol, etc. He just said all your numbers are normal.
Gracious- Congrats on your wonderful weight loss. :cb:
Jack-K- You go Girl!! What a wonderful milestone to reach. You are truly an inspiration. :cb: :cb:
Well I am down 7lbs. I am posting a maintain because this is the weight gain I showed when I was on meds for my sinus infection.

Hi All.
I haven't posted in a couple/few weeks. I try to peek in once in a while to just try to keep up with everyone. I just seem to have so much to do.
My WIW was good. Down to 167. Actually, over the past week or so, I've seen that number several times. I think this old body is actually gonna give up a couple of pounds.
My eating has been ok. I did have a few days of binges. Silly me bought some "sugar ice wafers". Doesn't the name just scream "DON'T EAT ME"? But I bought some cause they were on sale and I thought I'd be able to eat just a couple. HA! No way. Scarfed down nearly a whole pack (1/2lb :yikes: ). I did that a couple of times. Made me feel real sleepy a couple of hours later and I felt all bloated and crappy. So I learned my lesson and just the thought of something sweet makes me feel ill.
I really need to get back into exercise. I think if I do that, then I will be able to drop a few pounds. I have been doing walking a couple of times a week. I walk DS to school and pick him up. The walk home is all uphill, but I still manage to hike it at a good pace.
I love the support on this board. When I can get in a few minutes to skim the posts it helps to reinforce the good things about this WOE.
I thought I might do better with an email buddy, as I'm good at answering my emails. I get kind of overwhelmed trying to keep up with the board (tho, I love to keep caught up on everyone :D ) and thought that staying in constant touch with one or two people might be better for me.
I know everyone is so busy with their own lives and this board, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in being my email buddy. Or maybe there is a lurker out there who is a little afraid to post on the board and would maybe want to "talk" thru email. If you are interested, send me a PM and we'll work out details. Like I said, I understand you all are busy, so please don't feel like you have to do this.
Thanks so much for letting me ramble and "listening" to me.

Hey y'all!
Just a post to let you all know that we made it through the storm! Whew! I was up most of the night with those damn tornado warnings! I hate that! I absolutely LOVE storms but the whole tornado thing freaks me out! If y'all happen to watch the weather channel - they are showing our area. Our family camp is on Grand Isle - which got a direct hit and I teach in Houma - which made the today show today. I just wish when they pulled people for natioal TV they would be a little more selective! They always seem to pick someone that has a TERRIBLE cajun accent and no teeth or something like that! We are off of school today and possibly tomorrow due to the flooding. Our house was fine - Thibodaux was just East of the eye of the storm so we just got some tropical storm force winds and a lot of rain! Poor New Orleans is under water! Well, I'll check back later!! Just wanted to give you an update!

Missy, so glad y'all are O.K.! It's heading for us but will be much more calm by the time it gets to us! I know what you mean about always picking toothless hicks to represent your area -- they do the same thing in Alabama...but, hey, there's a bright side! The rest of the world will think, "Dang! I sure don't want to ever live there...nothing but a bunch of uneducated hicks you can't understand!"...and our areas won't grow so big. I'm from Hollywood, California, where you could shake hands with your neighbor out your bathroom window...I have lived in a log cabin in the woods in an unincorporated part of Alabama for the last 17 years and I LOVE THE SECLUSION AND QUIET! So let those newsmen interview those kind of people...it will keep the population down! Hee hee!

Happy Thursday!
Well we are getting some effects of Izzy. :rain: It has rained all day and expecting 6-8 inches by Friday night.
Looks like N.O. is really getting drenched. Hope those gals are ok there.
It's quiet here. All the men in the office went to a Bowl-A-Thon for a charity. All but the main boss. He will walk back and forth all day and drive us girls crazy. I think we are the wrong sex. The men get to go play golf, now bowling. The girls are always left to run the office. So we ordered pizzas (I ordered wings) for lunch and the co. can pay for it. We'll show them LOL
Gracious, I am 5'-5 3/4" (just was measured at the Docs yesterday). Oh to be 34 again. I am 49 1/2 with 2 kids. I would like to be a good size 10, maybe 8, but I'll settle for a 10.
Bob, Glad you are back to normal, whatever normal is for you. LOL. I started watching BB last nite just to see what you all find so fascinating, but couldn't get interested. Maybe next time. I have one more pill left int he z pack. I am blowing less and less, and it is turning back to clear from green YEAH!!.
Debyj, You have reached a milestone. WTG! That is the best feeling when the scale no longer is in the 200's. It's downhill from here. Keep up the good work.
Fillise, You and my DH, he lives for the Sopranos. I can't watch it, it give me nightmares. Hope the flooding is not around your house. Be careful.
LKF, I have made no-bake cookies with splenda. They are pretty good. My DD made some peanut butter cookies using 1 egg, splenda and ppb. They were surprisingly good. She tried some sugar cookies and said they were horrible. Other than that, that’s all I have made. There are tons of recipes on our board and the sweet talk board. Just haven’t tried them.
Mercy, 7 lbs is wonderful. I am taking sinus meds too, I hope they don’t make me gain. I am taking a zpack. What did you take that made you gain?
Zanne, We are at the same weight. I would be glad to be your email buddy. You can email me at Jackie@sullivancozart.com. That’s a good way to get your exercise in. That way you have to do it every day.
Fruit, So glad to hear you are safe. I’m with you on those tornado warnings. They scare me. We have had too many hit close to home. I agree about the people they select for interviewing. Here they always get some hick that can’t speak English and no teeth. I guess those are the one with all the spare time to walk around. At least you are getting some vacation from all this.
Heartmom, Don’t be frustrated 1 lbs is better than a 1lb gain. Hang in there. Those inches are probably coming off quicker than you know.
Have a great day.

Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:
Got in to the office and hooked my laptop up and couldn't think of a better way to pass the boring hours but to get in a post! I've been getting here around 9:30am and it's been hard to do. I think tomorrow I'm not going to kill myself trying to get here by 9:30, instead, closer to 10am. Not like there's anything that can't wait a half hour, that's for sure. I really do hope my parents plan on paying me something for doing this, I sure can use the money!!!!
Wasn't going to walk this morning but decided to go 3.5 miles and to walk, my legs were a bit achey from yesterday. I really first thought about taking the day off but thought at least a walk, and maybe a little shorter one would be better than nothing. I ended up doing the whole 4.5 miles and even kept it at a decent time of 53:38. Of course, as usual, I was thrilled that I went and did the usual length. I hope I have the same desire tomorrow!
ELI and I decided to stay close to home yesterday. By the time we would of gone up to Broward, it would of been too late. We ended up going for an early dinner out OUTBACK. For many years I had wondered about something and finally asked our waitress if it was possible. Since I don't eat all that much I asked if it was possible to get a meal from the childs menu-she said yes, to my surprise, though there was going to be an additional $2 charge. I got the sirloin steak, which was more than enough, along with it I got the sweet potato, but didn't get the drink, and added a salad-it was more than enough and it's something I'd do again. I didn't finish it all anyhow, just imagine what goes to waste when I get a regular portion!
Afterwards, we decided to go to a movie. ELI'S been wanting to see the Austin Powers movie, so we went to see that. It was okay, to me, sorta stupid, but of course, to a man, he loved it! I much would of rather seen THE BANGER SISITERS. Next time:) I want to see that new movie, SWEET HOME ALABAMA too, it looks cute.
Afterwards, I had to hit Publix for a few groceries-found a great buy and Lord knows, LAUREN was in heaven! They had these smaller bottles of Gatorade in a 6pk on a quick clearance for .99 cents each and when you bought one, you got another for free-bought 12 packs of those, came out to less than .10 cents a bottle. They had some larger bottle 4 packs, same thing, so I got 8 of those and those were even a better deal. I don't know where to put them all though, it looks like a Gatorade warehouse!
What happened afterwards, OMG, I was dying from laughter! I hear ELI as he's getting in the car go "arrggghhh" and I asked him what happened. He said something was in his ear. Then he tells me he feels something crawling and buzzing in his ear. I honestly thought he was joking, but quickly realized he wasn't, but I just couldn't contain myself, there was no way I could surpress my laughter (I'm laughing as I type this!), as he's yelling and pulling at his ears and racing down the street to get home (we only live a mile from the store, luckily). By the time we get home, well, I'm about to piss in my pants! He runs in to the house, not sure what he had planned until I got in there. He's yelling for me to find the tweezers, so in the bathroom I had to sit him down and look in his ear as he is profusely sweating and I'm standing over him, still laughing, and I look in his ear, and sure 'nuff, there's a bug in his ear! I had to take the tweezers and pull this bug out of his ear. Not sure if I got it all, it was actually quite big, for a bug going in to someone's ear (ELI does have big ear holes compared to mine), but I put some alcohol in his ear afterwards and hoped that was the end of that. When I told the kids later that evening they too were dying of laughter, even spoke to BOB and told her-both times the COFFEE MAN comes in and looks at me, just giving me a "look" and of course, I was still laughing:lol:
Evening ended by watching BIG BROTHER and was thrilled that LISA won. For those of you who watched it, makes you wonder just what Danielle thought about getting that one vote from Jason. I was surprised it was 9 to 1 in Lisa's favor, I thought more would vote for her, but glad it wasn't close. The only thing I had wished that they would of done was for all of those people who called and spent the $ to cast a vote in case of a tie, that they would of revealed who the public would of voted for in case of a tie. Now that's over, I look forward to AMAZING RACE coming on next week-that's my favorite reality show ever!
LKF, you really are to kind, thanks for thinking I'm gorgeous, but I really think your thinking of me as an inspiration much more flattering:^: Oh no, this is definitely NOT the first time I've gone off plan and cheated. My first real cheat was the end of March/early April when I took the kids with my Mom up to NC for spring break. What seems to happen with me is that when I cheat, as I mentioned, I just keep running in the wrong direction. For me, it's not in my vocabulary to cheat just once, just this one item, just this meal, just this day. I do it for a good period of time and then reality seems to finally kick me in the arse and I come to my good senses once again. I realized this morning that even though I hate how I feel, mentally and physically when I do this that one thing I see that has changed over all the years I've been on other diets is that I am catching myself before, as you said, it becomes 20lbs and I come back to SB. In the past I have made it to my intended goal just once and as all my past attempts, though I didn't make it to goal, I gained back the weight. This other time I ended up gaining 65lbs back before I finally got some common sense. My goal was 129 and when I started gaining back the weight I knew I was gaining, but I didn't dare get on the scale. I swore that when I lost the weight I wasn't going to gain it back, but then it came to where I was saying, okay, if I gain back 5lbs then I'll get back in gear, then I said I wouldn't gain any more than 10lbs, well, as you can see, it just kept going up. I then said, "I won't let myself go above the 150 mark, then it was 160, 170, 175 and before I knew it, I was almost back up to 200lbs! I couldn't believe it, here I swore it wouldn't happen and it did. I thank goodness that whatever it was that kicked in did so then and didn't wait til I got up or even past that 200lb mark again. So, here I am, things are somewhat different, but not totally. If I don't really keep a watchful eye over this weight problem I will find myself once again going through the same situation as before. As for your cookie question, I honestly don't have a clue about making them with Splenda, but using the ww flour isn't a problem. I don't use Splenda due to the maltodextrin in it. I'm sure though, there has to be many recipes on the net using this sweetener if you look. Log cabin from Hollywood, wow, that's a change, but it sure sounds like a wonderful one. I want to move from Miami after the kids graduate and move to a smaller city, out of FL.
THUNDER, same to you in regards to the ww tortillas, if you make that recipe, please let me/us know how they come out. I really want to know if they are tasty, easy to make, etc. etc. I may get some inspiration to make them if you and/or LKF think they are worthwhile.
MUSIC, you said it, no loss IS better than a gain, for sure!
GRACIOUS, which carbs do you start to add back in? What the heck are you eating if you don't have fruits and veggies? I never could even think about doing Atkins, I don't think I could stomach eating all that fat and protein. Like I said, I could easily give up the starchy carbs, but not the fruit and though I'm not a big lover of veggies (that is, unless someone else is cooking them, and even then...), I do like some veggies once in a while. I think I've only tried one, what I call, "crazy diet" and of course, that weight loss, whatever it was, sure didn't stay off. Though, after hearing of your great loss in doing this, much as I'd like to have the same results, I still wouldn't try it, it's a given for me, I know I wouldn't be able to stick with that for even a day. I give you credit for being able to do it this way. See my message below to JACKK regarding NANCE. Hmmm, I wonder if we all e-mailed her one of us, at least, would get a reply? Yes, the board is slow. Hmmmm, better thought, we should all e-mail those who've been MIA for a while-what do you think?
JACKK, the office I'm at is just a single office in an apt. bldg, so I just had to take the phone line out of the phone and plug it in to the back of the laptop, nothing fancy here! I don't think I'm hard enough on myself. If I were I probably wouldn't of gained any weight. I think I'm a bit too lenient over a too long span of time. If it was just a once in a while deal, just that one time, it would be different, but not stopping and continuing for days, I think I should be somewhat harder on myself. Heck, I wish someone would just smack me in the head, bring me to someone else's Detox Dungeon! Now, I just want to get back below my goal, then I'll focus on my cushion. I know I'm above my goal, no scale needs to tell me this, I can see it and feel it in my clothes, I can see it in my face and in the mirror-I just know. Hey, thanks for not snitching on me to my Mom;) I spoke to NANCE about 4 weeks or so ago, she said she was really busy and said she'd be back on the board, but she's said that a few times before that as well and hasn't come back. This has happened in the past before and she usually does come back after a while. I hope she will again, but this time for good.
BOB, glad to talk to you last night, even if it was only for a few. So happy LISA won. Hoping to see her on some talk show to see what she has to say. Seems like her and ERIC are going to continue their relationship, they make a great looking couple, I think.
DEBY, you're doing great! One more pound and you'll be under 200lbs, that's an exciting milestone to hit!!!!
FILLISE, hope you don't get too much rain. It's always too much, or too little, never perfect! We're still watching LILI down here and hope we have nothing more than a little rain. When we had Andrew 10 years ago we hardly had any rains, but a few years back, we had a no-name storm move in and there was lots of flooding, of course, the destruction from Andrew was far worse than the flooding we had with the other storm but the flooding lasted far longer than the winds that came with Andrew (though the clean up and repairs lasted really long).
MERCY, your Dr. probaby thinks this is just a fad and it's fleeting with you and probably isn't showing his excitement as he should. You'll show him, though. THEN, you can be assured, he'll be asking you more about SB, it happens quite often. Those Dr.'s who are knowledgable know how well SB works and what a great WOE this is, there's others that don't even want to bother to know. It sorta reminds me of something that ELI'S daughter said yesterday when she came over. She mentioned that they new vet they are taking their dog to put the dog on a diet because he said that PEBBLES was obese. Denise mentioned that the other vet never said anything about her weight. Even I said something about this dogs weight. She's a cocker and wieghs over 40 pounds and anyone can see she's terrible overweight. One vet doesn't care, the other one does. Human Dr.'s aren't so different sometimes.
ZANNE, glad to see you are still with us and doing well. I'm sure those pounds are going to continue to peel off, even if slowly, it's better than the alternative. I couldn't buy those cookies. I too well know I'd scarf down the entire pkg in one sitting/day. If you do buy them, why not ask someone in the house to hide them and not to give you any more than 1 a day or whenever necessary, no matter what. That's what I have to do with these SF cookies I buy, if not, I'll eat the whole box, which I've actually done in a matter of 2 days (okay, there's only 10 in a box, but still). I'm sure someone will be more than happy to be an e-mail buddy with you. I'd love to, but hope you understand that I get overwhelmed with e-mails and I'd hate to make a promise to e-mail, as I get really behind with the regular e-mails on many days. Has it gotten cold there yet?
FRUIT, glad to see your post and know you are okay and weathered whatever IZZY brought your way. Don't know if you saw, but I tried to call you the other night-couldn't get through, got a funky message that it couldn't put the call through, wonder if that was storm related? What a way to get a day off, eh? Hope all goes well in your area-keep us posted.
HEART, don't be discouraged, 1lb is a lot better than what I've been doing lately. What's the latest with BOOGIE??? How are things going with you and your husband?
Well, it seems that once again, I've made good use of my time here today! It's almost 1pm here, so only 1 1/2 hours to go til I get to break out of this joint. I don't have to get Lauren today, and Michael who I do have to go get is staying a little later, so I'm hoping to have time to hit the bank as well as the HFS to see what they have on sale this week.
Hope you all have a great day today! I'll try to cehck in later, otherwise, tomorrow, for sure:D

Well, Debbie, I'm amazed that you have such a history and the way you described the times you DO go off program...well, all I can say is that things are sure different now with SB from your past experiences with other eating programs. I figure if we can get right back after goofing off, like you did last week, we got it made for life!
With me, I've gained and lost and gained and lost year after year. I am praying this is the WOE for life for me that will make me sick as a dog when I do go off program and make me want to get right back to it!
I gotta go dry off...went on an errand that I thought would be while Izzy was a little less wild out there...going was fine but coming back, I got soaked!

Fillise- Yes, I’m still basking. It was a great win. So unexpected. With our new coach I am fully aware that it won’t be the rocket ride we’ve had for the past 12 years. It was great, but now I know we’ll be coming down to earth. So it was a nice treat for “re-entry.”
Jack-K--I saw the UK quarterback play when he was a freshman, and he is go-o-o-d! Should be a great game. UK has always been a tough game for UF, and we’ve always heaved a sigh of relief after winning against them. They are not to be taken lightly. And further, Ewe Tea really shot themselves in the foot with all the fumbles. It was really uncharacteristic of them. I don’t think UK will do that.
I agree, you ROCK, and you are doing great with your weight loss. I weigh just about the same as you, but want to get down to 120. I had my yearly phys. today and thyroid is even lower, so he is going to up my dosage. It’s disheartening; I don’t like to take meds. Hopefully this will get me off being stuck in the high 160’s and I can start moving on down.
Missy--Glad you are OK. The TV folks are jerks and always pick stereotypical people from an area.
Mercy--My doctor actually recommended SB even without my asking about any diets. He said I should lose some weight and that SB was the way to go.
I’ve been busy as all get out this week. We have a big slide (actually computer pictures off of disk) presentation this week at our church or our trip to Cuba. It was very time consuming to get all the pictures in order with what we wanted to say. And to sort through all the jpg’s we had of the pictures we took in Cuba and also the ones the organization we went with sent us--well, I was up after midnight most nights this week. It’s finally done. We are leaving tonight to go out of town, so I won’t be back until Sunday night or Mon. morning.
Take care and everyone have a good SB weekend.

DEBELLI- What am I eating? Sheesh, not much, I must confess. I am eating lean meats, eggs, cottage cheese and sea food. However, I am starting to add carbs back slowly on Saturday and that will be in the form of vegetables. I am sooooo looking forward to having a nice salad! I will stick mainly with adding the veggies for a few days then go from there. I don't just want to re-introduce carbs back all of a sudden, especially starchy carbs. There is no doubt that I am a determined person and quite able to follow anything simple. It is only when you have to make *weird* foods that I get in trouble. Not being a kitchen queen yourself I know you understand! ;)

Hi y’all. Hope everyone is high and dry today. The weather here couldn’t be better. Lows in the 60’s, highs in the low 80’s. Great weather for spending some time outdoors. I wish I could find whatever it is I need to stay 100% OP. Seems like I stay OP about 90% of the time, then I find cheating maybe once a day. If it was just once in a while it wouldn’t be so bad, but it seems like it’s gotten to be a daily thing. No starchy carbs. They don’t tempt me at all. It’s all those sweets. :cookie: :chockiss: And it seems like somebody is always bringing something in the teacher’s workroom to munch on. I’ve got to find my motivation again.
Now to attempt to reply to some…..
DEB: OH MY GOSH!!! A bug in Eli’s ear??? :yikes: How did you stand it? :joker: How’s his ear today? I pulled a good one yesterday too. We played a game with the kids at church where they see how far they could make their shoe fly. Anyway I was standing by one little girl when she kicked her shoe and it flew back and hit me in the face. :headache: I could just see me going to school with a black eye. Where did you get that black eye, Mrs. Carter? Oh I went to church.....Good idea about ordering from the child’s menu. I might try that sometime. Any words of wisdom on staying focused?
FRUIT: Glad y’all are OK. Hope things don’t get underwater at your house. :rain:They always pick the hicks in East Texas to interview on TV too. Hope you can enjoy your days off from school. Will y’all have to make them up or do they fall under some sort of emergency thing?
FILLISE: Hope things aren’t too wet your way. Curl up with Miss Belle while you watch it rain.
LKF: Hope y’all aren’t too wet too. Sounds like it’s pretty rough over there.
MERCY: HI! WTG on losing those 7 lbs. That’s great. You know, I think sometimes drs don’t have a clue. You just keep doing what works for you.
ZANNE: I know what you mean about finding time to exercise. Seems like there’s just not enough time in the day. Plus I’m having trouble with my foot. I don’t know if it’s a spur or what, but it’s uncomfortable. Feel free to e-mail me. It’s headwa@quik.com. Maybe we can inspire each other.
HEARTMOM: Hey! One pound is something to brag about. I was just glad I didn’t gain. How are Boogie and Ashley?
JACK-K: ALL the men are gone??? Sounds like time for a party. :hat:Hope Izzy doesn’t hit y’all too hard. How are the sinuses? Better I hope. I’ve been fighting allergies since school started. I’m much better but still stuffy.
COUNTRY: I agree with you that we can’t label as good or bad. We have to determine how different foods affect us and base our eating on that. Of course, we know that once we detox and our bodies get adjusted to this WOE that we don’t do well eating starchy carbs and such. I can’t even think about eating a baked potato or mac and cheese. I get terrible indigestion if I do. I just wish sweets, even a little bit, would make me feel bad. I find that I can eat a piece of cake of a couple of cookies or even a candy bar and it doesn’t bother me. Chocolate is my downfall. :m: I wish it bothered my like the starchy stuff does.
DEBYJ: Glad you’re out and walking. The weather is great for it.
TRANQUIL: Hope you’re feeling better today.
GRACIOUS: 8 lbs in the last month!!! WTG!:D
JENN: Hope you’re feeling better. Best wishes on the wedding.
OK y’all. I know I missed some of you, but I’ve let the kids to some things on their own in class. I don’t do that often but I really felt like I needed to catch up with you guys. I need some motivation/inspiration and I know I can find it here.

A quickie!
Rain wind, but nothing major--not like down in Naw Awlins.
Missy--Glad to hear you are safe and dry! Don't get all high and mighy on us--I know all y'all cajuns are toothless and have thick accents--Leastwise that's who all comes to Auburn when we play LSU!
Deb--I don't think I would have been able to held the tweezers steady for laughing so hard!
Just snacked on an apple--I bought a pack of good mountain apples in western NC this weekend and they are wonderful!!! Who needs candy?

Getting ready to go to the UL-Fla State Game. Can't believe I'm going. It's raining buckets here. Our seats are under cover and we can go inside. Of course tailgating is going to be a pain. I hope DH got me a poncho to wear. :rain:
Deb, Nice going on getting all your walk in. I haven't walked for 2 days. Just not up to it. I have managed to work out but hopefully I can get back into the walking soon. I think Austin Powers is stupid too. My DD loves it. Men have that warped sense of humor you know. I was rolling reading the story about Eli and the bug. I bet he didn't think it was funny. Those things can do some damage I have heard. Maybe I'll email Nance and try to convince her to come back.
Gator, I imagine it is litteraly going to be a "swamp" down there Sat. Are you all having a lot of rain? We sure are. I guess we will just have to wait and see about the game. The point spread is 19.5 in UF favor of course. Have a nice trip. Are you a lot shorter than me? I am 5.5 3/4. 120 would be too little for me I think. The Dr did reduce some of my meds this time. Hope you can get your figured out. You won't be going to the game??
Gracious, I don't think I could do what you are doing. I would miss my starchy carbs.I am tempted though to get to my goal weight sooner.
Tranquil, have fun at the movies. Glad that extra wt is coming off.
Music, You have got to decide what you want most, that sweet or losing weight. I know you probably want that sweet at that particular moment, but realized that it is sabatoging what is you main goal. Just tell yourself. I can't have that and walk away. Have you tried the SF candy to satisfy your choc craving? I know you can do this. I think my sinuses are getting better. I feel sorta of yucky today. Feel like I need to lay my head down on a pillow. Nothing taste good either. My water felt like it was hitting rock bottom, so I splurged and had a diet coke, but it still tasted funny.
Fillise, those apples sound delicious. I saw in the grocery that it's candy apple time. Yum! I used to buy them and just eat the candy off and throw the apple away. How things change.
Have a great night. Tomorrow is Friday.

I now have a scar on my forehead and beside my nose. PLEASE...make sure...if you see additional signs of gunk about a week to two weeks after you finish the Z-pack...get the AUGMENTIN!!
GO FLA STATE!!!! You are pulling for them aren't you? I'll be watching...
GRACIOUS...You can kiss my ring another time. Don't worry, I won't forget to remind you! :s: What kind of veggies are you adding back in?
DEB...I laughed my arse off after I hung up talking to you...I just had this visual of a big hissing cockroach coming out of that big ole ear!!!
Kidding aside...you need to put some peroxide in that ear...you could have lost a leg or anything and he could get a terrible infection in there....
DEBJ...4th SATURDAY???? WHat's this world coming to??? There are people who plan their year around this game!!!!!!
SUSAN...You be careful...it could get nasty out there!
So...I take it that LSU is coming to town??? Is Missy coming??
MISSY????? ARE YOU GOING TO AUBURN?????
GATOR...I'm not mourning anymore...I just DOWNRIGHT EMBARRASSED!!!! Hope the KY-FL game is on TV...I really want to see it...

HI EVERYONE! Just checking in to let you all know that we were spared here in SW LA. It got a little breezy, some rain, but not too much. But poor New Orleans, Mississippi, & Alabama!!
Missy, I prayed you you yesterday, even looked to see if you were out there getting some of those sandbags in Houma. No laughing matter, I know how those caines are vicious. Been through enough of them.
BOB, Thunderwoman is further north of us, so she should have been fine, but wanted to remind you of why you haven't seen SEF of late. She's on vacation in the New England states till Oct 10th, remember???!! I'm really glad that she is, because it looked like they got it pretty bad in Slidell, but I wonder how her family faired:?:
Debelli Poor Eli!! I know how he felt with that bug in his ear. That is a horrible feeling. It brought back the horrible nightmare of when that ladybug crawled up in my ear & woke me up a few months ago. The memory even causes me to shutter. But I have to agree, it is funny to hear of it happening to someone else ;)
Hey, wonder what happened to Red1?? Haven't seen her post since she's back from vacation. Hasn't answered my email either.
Well, I'm afraid that I've been doing alot of stress eating of late & my weight is up to 135. I'm also sick again with another sinus infection. Really horrible headaches, ear ache, & now larginitis. My chest hurts from all the coughing. Went to the doc this morning & he gave me some more decongestants & some NasoNex Spray. Have to work, so can't really get any rest. Will try to check in later.

Lordy---it's raining!!!!!!!
Well, just a quick note----
Deb-hilarious about the bug!! Now you can say "hey, lemme put a bug in your ear!!"
That's like when my husband was having some colon, prostate trouble and the doc did a rectal exam. Of course, my dh told me everything and said the doctor told him that "it" was a little tight. I fell off the bed!! Of course, i said "well, we always new you were a tight wad!!":smug:
Hope everyone is staying dry!!---debyj

Howdy ya'll! Been gone for the last two days visiting mom. We made meals for a friend who just had surgery and just kinda hung out together. Today I used one of her old Richard tapes so I was happy about the chance to work out. I even made it to my old church last night. So all in all a great visit. As always I had a nibble or two of a no-no but nothing major. Mom has so many good eats you can eat on or off plan. I think I may have actually droped a pound or two since last week. Will know for sure in the morning. I much prefer my morning to evening weight..but it's down this evening too..yay!:)
I'm so glad to hear everyone is doing well and is safe from the storm.
Sorry this is a quickie..but I am one tired gal....

Hello,
Mercy.... Hearing about your blood sugars was music
to my ears.
Gracious.... Feeling better is wonderful, but I will be glad
for any weight lose.
LKF.... I lived in New Orleans back in the middle 60's.
I was there for three years, and seen a couple of
these storms. Good luck to all of you.
Bob.... Yes, I am doing fine. I love this board
(like reading the post) more than posting something
myself. I hope you had a great day.
DEBELLI.... If I can get my ole bones moving
I plan on making the tortillas over the weekend.
By the way I saw your pictures and you are
a beautiful young woman. I wish I was your size.

BOB!!! You made me laugh my head off!  I am looking forward to paying you homage one fine day. And that picture of me after Induction...hmm...I was more going for the *healthy/normal* look rather than the *bonerack* look. ;)
I plan on adding back salads, cauliflower, broccoli and zucchini because that is what I have in the house presently. Oh, and green and waxed beans too. I am also wanting some salad dressing really badly so I plan on a huge salad for lunch on Saturday. With the cauliflower I will make Faux Tatoes and then Twice Baked Faux Tatoes in which you add some grated cheese, put some in ramekins then bake with some more cheese on top. It is very yummy and I like to eat those as a snack.

I also lost another pound!! :cb: That is 9 lbs down and now I am weighing in at 165...only 1 lb from my signature and only 11 lbs from goal. I am feeling mighty fine!!!
JACK-K- You have done so awesome thus far I think you should just keep doing what you have been doing. That is, healthy SB eating. I am being a freak and doing something very extreme just to get a boost. I got it but you sure can't live this way! BOB said some pretty scary stuff in her post there about her sinus infection so make sure you take care of yourself. {hugs}
FILLISE- I love apple season too. We always take the family to an orchard and pick a bushel. The kids always have fun and they are extremely tasty and crunchy right off the tree...the apples, not the kids! ;)
TRANQUIL- Way to go on the 1.5 lbs loss, you are going in the right direction now!

Happy Friday!
Boy am I glad it is Friday, now if were only 5:00!
My computer is locked up so I need to post what I have so far to shut it down.
Went to the FSU game last nite. Luckily our seats were in the clubhouse. Our actual seats were still in the rain, but we moved up to other seats and as it got crowded, we went into the clubhouse and watched it on TV. How stupid is that. I could have watched it at home on TV in my jammies. We got drenched walking to our car. My clothes were still dripping this morning.
Little tired today. couldn't go to sleep once I got in bed. My sinuses hurt today. I guess I'm going to have to get another prescription. I'm really tired of foolign with this thing.
We got about 5" of rain and it is still coming down. Expected to stop around quitting time.
Melf, It seems this sinus thing is contagious here.
Debyj, I thought I was about over mine, but today I am really stopped up and the other side of my face hurts and teeth. Don't give in to that stress eating. It's not worth i. Hope you feel better soon.
Country, Glad you had a nice visit with your mom. WTG on keeping on plan and dropping a pound or two too!
Thunder, We love hearing from you, so atleast drop in to say hi. Have a great weekend.
Gracious, You are doing great. Another pound. I can only do that 1 or 2 days. Actually I did it yesterday and didn't even plan on it. You will beat those 11 pounds in no time. Congrats. You go girl. PS: I bet you don't look like Bob's picture either.
Have a great day. Be back later.

Hello all!
I got an email from the dungeon mistress this morning, so I figured I'd better check in to let everyone know I'm still around! Seriously, it is nice to be thought about. No detox dungeon for me!
I've actually been doing great with my weight. I weighed this morning and was at 219 (that's 49 pounds). I've stayed OP and have started exercising again. My neighbor and I have been walking in the evenings, just about 2 miles but at least we're doing it just about every day.
I see we have some new folks on board. Isn't this a great place?! For those of you that don't know me, I live in Pflugerville, Texas, just outside of Austin. I'm married and have a 17 year old son and a 10 year old son.
Jack-K - I watched part of the game last night, glad to see you guys won. Don't you have a cruise coming up soon? We've booked one for next year. Next year will be DH and my 20th wedding anniversary. I'm excited already. Cruising is our favorite vacation!
Fruit - Hows the weather in NO today? The Horns are coming to town tomorrow. Hook em!
Deb - Thanks for thinking of me. I'll be better I promise. I have been thinking of everyone, just haven't found time to post. It really does help, though.
Gotta run. It's gonna be another busy week-end. High school football game tonight and then we have some people coming over tomorrow afternoon to watch the Longhorn game. That means I have to clean house, ugh.
Have a great week-end everybody.

It's cool and wonderful outside. The scales are kind to me. I'm back to 154. Up down up down up down..hehehe But I always like the downward swing. Once I buckle down and start really heading down it will be so nice.
I am fixing to make a few WW tortillas this morning but will add a little fat to mine. You can take my sugar but I'm reluctant to give up my fat..probably one reason I'm still keeping on these extra pounds. :)
We are starting vacation this afternoon..I can hardly wait. Not going anywhere but there is just something about knowing you have no committments for a week. We are hoping to get to go hunting some. Some venision or wild pork would be wonderful. Both are very low in fat.
Jack-K hope those sinus' start to feel better soon.
Gracious...you are getting those pounds off quick. Will they stay off coming off that quickly? I am proud of all your hard work. ((hugzz))
Gotta run...fixing to hit some pregarage sale rummaging with my mom. Have a great day.

Hello everyone!
It is still windy and rainy here--but it is supposed to move out this afternoon! My yard is littered with tiny little branches--and a few big ones. I hope the yard folks can come early next week!
I've got to get my house into shape today. Frog is comming to do my SLAH show tonight! I can't wait to see her. I'm also ready to relax and have a little fun. I've got Deb's crustless cheesecake and some "hot pizza dip" both of which are OP. I will also have a wedge of triple creme cheese and triscuits.
Got to go==sorry no time to respond to everyone.

Thanks to all who responded to my enquiry about email buddies. You have given me a boost in my reslove to stay on this WOE AND to get my exercise in!
DEB--My gosh girl, you are so busy. I never expected you to have the time for extra emails. It's not cold here, just seasonal-about mid 60's (I was in shorts yesterday). Supposed to go up to low 80's Monday and Tuesday. We're actually getting some rain due to Isadora!
I hope everyone is keeping out of harms way with Isadora. It's bringing us the rain way up here, but we need it.
And the scale said 167 AGAIN this morning :D :cb: :cb: So I think it's official and now I can go in and change my stats!
Everyone try to stay OP and take it one bite at a time.

As I have glanced over the board this morning I am happy to see that no one was seriously effected by the storm. It looks so bad on the news. Melf, I thought we had some bad rain when we were in NO. I guess I was wrong.

Ahhh, my last day here! Thank goodness!
Got in my walk/jog this morning, but only did 3.5 miles today. I had a couple things I had to do before leaving and those extra few minutes I saved by doing 1 mile less was helpful, but not enough. I figured 3.5 was better than nothing and the way I've been going every day this week, I was entitled to do a mile less. If the weather is good on Sunday morning I'll do either 3.5 or the usual 4.5 miles thus getting in 25-26 miles this week, not too shabby;)
Eating continues to be good, which of course is making me feel better. I feel "smaller" though I still feel a bit big, but that may also be from TOM which is going to show up tomorrow I believe (maybe tonight). I guess I'll see how I feel once it's gone.
I am allowing myself to have popcorn. I find that I get the munchies in the evening and I'll eat fruit and other legal foods and I'm still wanting to munch on something, so I thought I'd entitle myself to popcorn. At least the one I use is just corn and salt, nothing else, no oil. It seems to help, so I'll allow myself this when I think nothing else will do. Any thoughts?
Not much new to tell about down here, so I might as well just jump in to responding to you all...
LKF, oh yes, I do have a history of being fat and on diets. I've been fat my entire life, and yes, I have baby pictures to prove it! If you truly want this to be your last "diet" then it will be, it just depends on how bad you want it to be. Don't think about if you go off, how making you feel sick as a dog would keep you possibly from going off, but focuse more so on how good you feel with the weight off and just how good you feel, period.
GRACIOUS, are you eating enough of whateveryou are eating? I can't imagine how you are eating enough with only eating protein and fat. I get 45-50% of my daily intake from carbs and just couldn't think of what I would eat in place of that. BUT, it sure seems to be working for you bigtime-congrats on another loss!!!
TRANQUIL, I'm sure those mystery pounds will be leaving soon! What movie did you go see? I see Sweet Home Alabama got a bad write-up in the paper today, bummer. May go see it any how. How's Zach feeling? How's the foot? Getting ready for the UK?
MUSIC, what I wouldn't give to have the weather in the 60's down here-those days are so far and few between here, you blink, and it's gone. I know your feelings about staying OP and I can tell you probably what's happening. When you cheat, and it's stuff with sugar, it makes your body crave more, and the more you give it, the more you want-simple as that. That's why when you start SB and detox from the sugar, you don't crave it. If you could get back OP 100% and detox totally you won't be craving that stuff. Okay, so people bring in stuff, doesn't mean you HAVE to eat it. If people who know you and they know you are watching what you eat and they bring it, then they are one of those who are trying to thwart your efforts, but if they don't know, you can't blame them for doing this. Why not post a sign on your desk asking that no goodies be brought in due to health reasons. Long ago, my cousin decided she wanted to lose weight (if you've read this before, just skip it, I've mentioned it before), and her downfall was chocolate. So, when she went off to college, where she knew no one, she told everyone that she was highly allergic to chocolate. She lost a lot of weight and has kept it off and for years, everyone thought she was allergic to chocolate. It was a great deterent! OMG, I can't believe what happened to you and the shoe! Sounds worse than ELI'S buggy ears! He's fine, no worse for the wear!!!
FILLISE, glad to hear not much going on with your area and IZZY! He's lucky I was able to hold those tweezers steady between the laughing so I was able to remove the little bugger faster:s: Glad to hear things worked out where FROG can still come tonight. PLEASE give her a hug for me, than swift kick her in the arse and tell her to get on the board for at least a few minutes to post SOMETHING! Pizza dip? Is that on the recipe board? Sounds delish! Eat a piece of cheesecake for me, would you?
JACKK, I too agree that men have a warped sense of humor, glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks that, though I knew that anyhow. Oh, for sure, ELI did NOT think the buggy was funny, but I sure as **** did!!! LMK, if you do e-mail Nance, and if you get a response. We heard that Lexington got their first Starbucks and they did wonderful the first day. Is it near you? As for the journal, I went to see what it was, but didn't get to do it, though it seems I got one-will have to let you know once I get a few minutes to figure it all out.
BOB, had it been a roach, I would of been running in the opposite direction screaming. No way would I even attempted to go near him, much less try to get it out with a tweezer. It was a mothey type of bug. You can rag his arse about it next time we see you:s:
MELF, glad to see you checking in and to know you didn't get much more than rain from IZZY. Haven't heard from RED either, hopefully she'll be back soon. I hope you get to feeling better soon, sounds like you got a lot going on inside. I can relate to stress eating, heck, I can relate to any eating! Just watch yourself and don't let yourself go too out of control, like I did. It's not a good place and definitely not a place you want to be at-I speaketh from experience!
DEBY, it must be a man thing with their holes! LOL! I can't imagine a Dr. telling your DH that he was a little tight, like it's suppose to be loose??? LOL!!!
COUNTRY, sounds like you've had a nice time with DM and at the same time, did good for someone else. That's so nice. Are you making tortillas? Which recipe are you using, if so? Fat isn't a problem, it's too much fat and the wrong fat that poses the problems. I try to get 25% or so fat from my daily intake.
MERCY, thanks for the compliment:^: Don't just wish to be this size, you CAN be this size! I never thought I could be this size (or the smaller one I was months ago), this is one of those wishes you yourself can make come true.:D
TRISH, glad to see your post. Did I make you feel guilty, or were you just threatened??? Glad to see you are still with us and doing wonderful, OMG, 1 more pound and you'll of hit the big 50lbs loss mark-that's so awesome! I can't wait til you post that information. That's great you are walking too, and doing it with a partner is wonderful, gets you out even when you don't feel like going I think-don't want to let the other one down.
Looks like that's it for me. Going to go make my lunch (2 hot dogs), which should hold me til I get home after getting Michael from school (Lauren is staying late). I'll try to check in later, otherwise probably not until tomorrow evening. After garage sales tomorrow my sister wants to go shopping at JCPenney's. They are having a sale on the pants I wear (SJB black strechy capris) and with my extra 20% off and a coupon for $10, she's dying to get some of them, and I guess I'll get a few more pairs as well, as they're the only pants I seem to want to ever wear. I just wish they'd make them in capri in other colors, it would be nice to wear something other than black all the time (though it is my fav. color).
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!!!

Boogie has a cold- AGAIN!:sp: And his voice is hoarse- I have kept him in the house since Monday and plan to until next Sunday(time to leave)- plus I withdrew Ashley from school,too- AND he still ends up sick!:stress: Please pray that it goes away by next Friday or otherwise I will have to call and reschedule. And there's no telling when they'll want him to come again- probably November, when it's cold in Philly.

IT'S ALMOST THE WEEKEND!!!:cp: :cb:
It has finally stopped raining here. :rain: But Izzy sure lft me something to remember her by. This morning my DD called me, she had gone down to the basement to work on the computer. She discovered 2" of water and lots of floating furniture. I rushed home. It seems our sump pump never kicked on. When my DH got home, he couldn't figure out why. Finally, we discovered the float was stuck. As soon as it "un-stuck" it, it pumped that water right out of there. Unfortunately, we finished our basement 2 years ago and my carpet is totally submerged. I'm not sure about the furniture. It's probably ok and it is old anyway. Luckily after Christmas last year I bought a bunch of plastic storage tubs and put all my Christmas decorations and other stuff in them. So it looks like only 3 or 4 boxes got wet and I can't imagine any important being in them. I think one was year books. Haven't looked at them in 20 years. Not sure if insurance will cover the damage. My biggest concern is my computer. the CRT sat on the floor and my DD said when she picked it up, water ran out of it. I'm afraid to turn it on. Hopefully, electronic things are high enought nothing got hurt. I guess they will come dry out my carpet tomorrow and I'm sure all the padding is ruined. What a way to start out the weekend.
We were planning to go to Madison Ind for a craft show tomorrow, but I guess not now. Have a birthday party in Lex Sunday.
Trishaloo, It is soo good to hear from you. We have missed you. WOW! 49 lbs. that is great. It is great that you are doing so good with your eating and exercsing. It is so nice to have a buddy to do it with. I was actually pulling for FSU. I am a KY fan and KY fans can't be UL fans too. It's against the rules. Yes, we are leaving on Nov 10 for the East Carribean. This is our first cruise and I am so excited.
Country, Have a nice vacation week. It is nice not to have any committments for a whole week.
Fillise, Glad you weathered the storm. Tell Frog hello for me. I really miss her posts. Tell her to get back on here. Have a great party. Share that pizza dip recipe.
Zanne, WTG on holding the scale steady. Have a great weekend.
Red1, Glad to hear from you again. Hey when I'm in a funk, the best place to come is this board. Perks me up a bit. We are here for you to vent. :grouphug: Have a great weekend.
Mercy, WTG 1.5 more lbs. Keep up the good work. :cb:
Deb, 25-26 miles, Great going. You will be back to goal in no time. I don't think a moderate amount of popcorn every once in a while will hurt you. They say it's one of the best low calories snacks. In that article in our paper last week, it said popcorn, ww grain products and dairy were the best for insulin resistant diets. So it probably won't hurt. It's definately better than cookies, etc. The story about your cousin brought back something they told us when I went to WW. She said if you went out and asked questions about the food or ordered something prepared differently, tell them you have a diseas called: fat on my thigh. You say it real fast and know one knows what you are really saying and they surely wouldn't ask. The things we do. I would be running along with you when it comes to roaches. I hate those things. Lexington is about 1 hr away. My DD is there in school. We have several SB here. They are opening up everywhere. Shame Eli can't come here to open them and you could come with him. Isn't black all of our favorites colors. It's mine too. So slimming. LOL
Heartmom, Oh no, poor Boogie. Give him lots of oj and lots of hugs and love. :grouphug: Hope he recovers quickly.
Well, have a great weekend everyone. I'll be drying out soggy carpet.

Hey All:wave:
Thought I'd get in a quickie while the computer is free!!!! Michael has a friend over and Lauren is still at school. Eli, of course, is where else, SB!
It rained a lot here this afternoon. Hoping for a nice day tomorrow-I'm in a garage sale mood. I have a few things I'm looking for out there, never know what you may find.
I found a new food item last week and made it today. It's a turkey pot pie made by SHELTON'S. I got it at Wild Oats, but I'm sure other large HFS will carry it. The crust is made with whole wheat flour, and it was really quite good. I'd buy it again. I haven't had a pot pie since I was a child.
MERCY, you go girl, another 1.5lbs!!! WOO HOO!
RED1, glad to see your post, esp. right after MELF asked about you and I said I hadn't heard anything from you either:D What's the funk all about? Hope nothing serious!
ZANNE, rain from Isadore, are you sure? 167, you go girl! Keep up the great work. Black bean hummus, yum, will have to check it out!
HEART, here's hoping BOOGIE makes a speedy recovery. Poor kid, if it's not one thing, it's another. Don't let it stress you out, just think positive. {{{HUGS}}}
JACKK, okay, what the heck is a sump pump? Be kind, remember, down here, there are no basements! I do look forward to the day I own a house with one though-gosh, the junk I could store. I want an attic too!!! Praying the computer is okay for you-that's all you need. When I go and grill a waiter/waitress about a meal and want to omit something, I'll tell them I'm highly allergic to whatever and that if it shows up in the food I eat, I'll foam at the mouth, I mean get sick. When we had the pizzeria, we had a guy deathly allergic to onions, boy, were we ever careful with his pizza. We had to clean the cutter before we cut his, gawd forbid there be any onion residue on it. Actually, ELI has expressed an interest on going and helping open SB in the ME, with the intention of seeing his family and staying there and getting paid, but nothing panned out, which is fine for me, I don't think I could bear him going for any long length of time. The time he went for a month, that was too long for me, but damn, did I get this house in order by the time her returned!;)
Okay, I'm outta here!

Did anyone miss me?
I've been hiding out but lurking when I get a chance, which hasn't been too often. Things have been so busy.:dizzy:
I have finally gotten my eating back under control and the scale is moving down again. I had gotten back to nearly what I started at last year :^: , but I'm on the comeback and nearly back to my low before x-mas.
Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I know I've probably missed getting to know some newbies, but Hello anyway.
Deb - whats the weather gonna be like down there on/around Oct 5th?? We are coming to Orlando to do Disneyworld!!! I can't wait.
Are any of my Alabama girls still posting on the board???
I'll try to catch up later!
Love and miss everyone ;)

Next week in Orlando, who knows, I'm hours away and with weather, one never knows, but at least DW is inland! Too bad you aren't making this trip in January when many of us will be getting together up there! Hey, think about coming down again.
Is this vacation time?

Before I go to bed, I just want to report that I had a wonderful time with Renee (Frog) tonight! Her Southern Living At Home party was lots of fun--and it was sooo great to see her. She looks terrific!!!! I took a picture and when I get it developed I will post it on the board.
Deb--I have Frog both the hug and the swift kick! She seems to be really busy with the full time job and the SLAH. She is doing four shows this weekend alone!
Ok everyone--got to go to bed. I have a long day tomorrow. We are campaigning at the game--which isn't until 8:00--so I will be sitting outside all day. it is supposed to be sunny tomorrow--which will be nice for a change!

Howdy everyone!
Been busy with my mom's recovery but I think I can get back to my real life again!
Been sticking to plan and lost another 4 pounds!
More important I've gone from a size 3X in shirts to a 1X and my pants were a 22/20 and now size 18 is getting roomy!
My 14 year old daughter is SB now too. A major miracle considering all she ate was potatoes and white rice *shudder*
She is doing great! She doesn't like to weigh herself but her clothes are fitting her better and she see's it's working because she said "Mom I don't have to stretch my shirts over my knee's anymore, they fit me normal!" Her friends are amazed she's sticking to it and I think that's helping because she loves to prove people wrong!
I found the Agave nectar!! It's 4.95 for 8 oz but I don't care!! My coffee tastes awesome again. I need to make the cheesecake recipe now because I find myself craving cheesecake now.

Hi! to all of you,
I am very bored today. On Saturday I usually go
to lunch, and then shopping with one or the
other of my daughters. Today one is out of
town and the other two are busy. So I will have
to entertain myself today.
I hope everyone is doing well, and staying on
program. I am doing very good so far,but then
it is still early.
I think I will groom one of my cockers today. That
should keep me busy. I'm not in the mood for house
work. It a real waste of time when your husband is at
home, and later today I will make tortillas from Debbie's
recipe.
I hope all of you have a wonderful day. I had better get
myself in gear. Bye:)

Hi Everyone,
The rains have finally stopped for awhile and since we are somewhat caught up in the forest, I am happy to see the sun again.
There have been some really interesting topics discussed and I have enjoyed the information.
I am staying on program but I continue to gain just a little each month. I was at 141 for a long time but during this year I have slipped up to 149. That is just way too close to being out of control for me. I have no weighed in about a week because I am afraid the scale will show something I am not prepared to see. I say I stay on the program technically but I have added red wine and continue to eat 1 to 3 ounces of almonds (or walnuts) and cheese in the afternoons. ( I am really working on the nut thing and haven't had any for a couple of days.)I also added prunes at lunch (about 5 to 7) and I am wondering if this may have added to my problems. I stick to the 3 carbs a day rule and do not have sugar, white flour, etc. I am moderately active but have not been walking as I did when I first started the program. I guess I have just gradually let things slip and therefore, the weight just creeps up.
Fillise: I read about your being at the Farmer's Mkt in Western NC. Was that the one in Asheville? You said they had no sugar added jams. Would you please tell the booth where you found them? I have a neighbor who has an apple orchard and he lets me have enough apples to preserve. I made lots of applesauce and apple butter last year and I made it without any sugar or sugar substitute and it was plenty sweet. I thought when I was making it that I could add some agave, etc when I opened the jar if I needed to give it a little added sweetness but it doesn't need it. I used Rome apples and Grimes Golden. My cats like to catch me reading and then they want my lap. They are very cool to me when I want to pet them on my terms. I do just love cats, however.
Trishaloo, JRed, CountryMom: Hi. When I return to Texas in November, we Texas gals should try to plan a get together.
Debbie: You asked for comments about popcorn. Have you had no problem with having popcorn when you tried it before? It isn't one of the get off plan triggers for you? Congrats for getting yourself back on program and feeling better.
My daughter and her husband are coming for a visit next week, so, I should start cleaning house and set a good example.
Bye for now, Lyn

Saturday Peeking In
My parents arrived today from Ontario for a week long visit so I won't be around to post unless I get a chance to sneak away..like now! I am holding my own at 165 still and feel terrific.
DEBELLI- I added veggies back into my diet yesterday and enjoyed my salad for lunch and then spagetti squash with meat sauce on it for dinner. :T I want to keep this weight off so I will introduce things back slowly. I am trying to sell my father on SB and steer him away from Atkins. He thinks counting calories is easier but I am trying to reassure him how healthy and easy SB is! I am going to try to get that book you always recommend while he is visiting...what is that guys name? Michael Montignac I think? I would look at Chapters.
Have a great weekend folks!

Hey Gals!
Just a quickie! Still high and dry here - the weather is georgeous now that Izzy is out of here! Now we are watching Lilly out there - they are saying she may take a similar track so you know what that means for us!
DEB: Didn't notice that you called - wasn't on the caller ID. Maybe the lines were messed up because of the storm - everyone calling their loved ones! Sorry I missed you! Best time to catch me is on the weekends - during the week I work until 8 at night and I don't even pick up the phone when I get home! HAHA!
FILLISE: GURL!!!! No you know we have some good looking fans that go to AUBURN for those games! I know we've got some trash too - but come on!! HAHAHAHAHAH! I was cracking up at your comment!
BOB: Not going to Auburn - we were gonna go to Florida but ended up cancelling the trip. So sorry that I won't get to meet GATOR. But, things just weren't working out financially with all the medical bills this year! Get my drift!?
TIGERS won today! I slept through the game - I've got the flu so we didn't get to go - :( Oh well, we'll be in Tiger Stadium for another no name team game! Sucks that we had to miss an SEC game - being that there are only 3 or 4 scheduled home and the rest are crap teams!
Take care!

Happy Saturday!!!!!
Just got back from the park. DH had a BBQ for his Emergency Response Teams. It was nice to see all their families. The weather was great. Alittle breeze and fall is in the air. Maybe 75 and no humidity. It would be great to have some rain but can't have everything. I am sure some of you would like to share.
Deb: I am doing ok. There is so much going on in our personal lives that soemtimes I just want to hide in a corner. It will get better. It has to. :) I have been doing great with my eating. It isn't totally SB but it is working. We have cut out all starch carbs for awhile. We are still eating protiens, lots of veggies, cheeses. I will probably add some fruit this week. I have to get into a routine for walking and am having the hardest time. Maybe this week. I know you told me I could print the Smiles list but when I open it up there isn't a tool bar that allows me to. Any suggestions?
Jack-K: Hope your computer doesn't have too much damage.
Well I though this was going to be a longer post but my DH fixed me dinner and it is ready. Got to go.

Checking in to say hello to the ladies who've been awol. It's great to see you all posting! I'm still busy with my class. This teaching all day, being a mom, and trying to do homework is really getting the best of me. One good thing about DH working out of town during the week is I don't have to cook at night. The girls just get their own supper and I can get my work done.
BOB: My son said that Navy-Marine Corp Stadium is cursed and I'm beginning to believe him. They try hard, but they have a very long way to go, even with Coach Johnson. It's hard for a future Naval officer to match up to the 300 lb. plus linemen that play football at Division I schools these days. I haven't even been able to find the ArK score. We had a Navy parents' club meeting tonight.

Hi,
I thought we would have sunshine for a least a couple of days but it looks like rain again. Oh well, I guess I won't be tempted to play outside when I still need to finish with housework. My husband grilled some chicken breasts and he did a really good job of keeping them moist. He fixed enough so we will have easy meals for a couple of days. I will just prepare some Swiss Chard from the garden and maybe a baked sweet potato..Yummm.
BOB: Thanks for telling me about the Forge Mountain Jellies. I looked on their website and it looks very interesting. We will certainly go there the next time we are in Hendersonville, which we do about once every week or so.

Hey everyone! Here it is Sunday, and I have not been on since Tuesday. That was the day something weird happened to my DSL, and it has not worked until last night when my husband spent two hours on the phone with the tech support people. I only checked email..and that seemed so slow it was pathetic! It looks like rain again here...(scream) Thankfully there was no flooding around here, except perhaps my front yard! And of course the pool, which came within a half inch of overflowing! Anyway, hopefully, I will be back with more regularity next week!

Jack-K--I’m 5’ 3” so I can easily do with just 120 pounds. In fact, anything much over that is still too heavy for me. I used to weigh 106 when I was in my 30’s and I looked Go-o-o-o-d! At 120, with weight training, I looked pretty good too. So that is my goal.
I just got back from Gainesville and have not read through all the posts, but I bet you had a wonderful time at the FSU-UL game. We in Gainesville thought it was a great way to start the weekend. Even with all the rain you had, it would have been worth it to see that wonderful victory y’all had. We played UK and had great weather. That is, no rain, but very hot. We tried to pull a UT and lose the game. Our special teams were so bad and that ineptness cost us 27 points. UK has a really good team though, and played with a lot of heart. I hope they run the table now.
BOB--You can pull for UF now when they are not playing UT. The visor man isn’t there anymore, and we are “sister teams” in that we both are in the SEC. I can understand how you feel about the UT-UF game. UT wasn’t doing all that great against Rutgers, but we were so happy they pulled it out. Go SEC! Did you get to see the UK-UF game. Our offense and defense actually is beginning to come together, but our special team stunk up the place. I think they turned over the ball 5 times! We need to find a punter.
Red1--Glad to see you back. Hope we can cheer you up.
TVthatsME--Normally the weather in Orlando is really nice. We usually open up all our windows sometime in October, because the weather starts to cool down a little. So, hopefully you will get some good weather. This year things have been a little different with all the rain we’ve been getting, and this weekend was stifling hot. I saw several football players at the game in Gainesville, which is 2 hours north of here, come down with cramps, which is usually an indication of dehydration. And I think they got dehydrated because the weather was so hot and muggy. Hope you get to see Fla. at it’s best when you come, with some nice breezes. Where are you staying at WDW?
MISSY--I’m so sorry that you won’t be coming to Gainesville. :( Maybe in 2 years when they play here again. LSU is our next home game and I know it will be awesome. LSU is doing so great! Gators will have a tough time and if their special teams play like they did yesterday, you all will win.
My eating was pretty good this weekend. Saturday was a little rough because we made the rounds of the other tailgate parties instead of having one ourselves. So many of them are fried chicken, baked beans, chips and cake. I ate a tiny (thumbnail sized) piece of chocolate brownie, and I also indulged in some wine. Also had some vanilla ice cream. Today though, I’m back on track. Started the day with shredded wheat ‘n bran with fresh peaches, and had a salad for lunch. I think my DH and I will take a nice long walk this afternoon. Our presentation about our trip to Cuba went real well. It lasted about 22 minutes and we seemed to keep everyone’s attention. I’m so glad it is over. Now I can concentrate on my exercise and other regular stuff that I had moved to the back burner.
We had a sad thing happen today. A wonderful friend of ours has been fighting a battle against prostate cancer which had spread into his femur. He was really struggling. We have visited with him and his wife, and we have called a bunch of other times to stay in touch when he was not up to having visitors. We called a couple of times today to see if we could come over to visit again, but got no answer. When we got home there was a message on our machine telling us that he died this morning. It was very sad for us. It’s very sad. We’ll miss him.
Gotta go. Everyone have a good day and I’ll see you next week.

Good evening everyone.....
Hope your Sunday was a good as mine. Started out with church, always a great time. My MIL and DD and DGD came over for dinner. Always a great time when the little one is here. She has so much energy. Went for a walk with her. It felt good to get out and walk. I want to try and walk every night. We will see what happens.
My DD has to go to court this wednesday. Wold you all remember her in your prayers. It will be the deteriming session for her child support and alomony and what type of visitation for our grandaughter. She has not been with her father very much and it is hard to believe that a court can say how much time he can spend with her when he doesn't spend anytime now. She doesn't even know who he is. thanks.....
BOB: WOW!! you got some good deals. The closest BIG LOTS to me is 90 miles away. I hope to get there before the holidays. I have heard there is alot of good stuff there.
Gator: Sorry to hear about your friend. It is always tuff loosing a friend.
